Do you think that instead of using âDenaliâ as their surname the sisters would instead use the Russian patronym (or in this case matronym) âAlexandrovnaâ for their mother Sasha who I assume was born with the name Alexandra and just went by her nickname instead of her full name. I donât know if youâd agree, but in my head I always think of them as the Alexandrovna sisters, instead of the more canon way to refer to the trio by their coven name.
Okay, OKAY-
So, I've been meaning to answer another ask first because I just need to get that outta my system because the hype is REAL, BUT-
I just had to get to yours first because yes, yes, YES to ALL of what you said, I-
In fact, I've read something like that only recently. Like, Stephenie Meyer changing the Denalis' origin story over and over to the point she probs didn't quite know wtf was even going on anymore. Go figure-
Anyhow, it said something about the Denalis mayhaps originating from Russia instead of Slovakia? Or, well, some of their names do. I've read that "Sasha" is of russian origin and a gender-neutral form of "Alexandra". Or the nickname, like you said.
Same with Tanya, which is also of russian origin. I think that´s quite fitting, given that she´s the only daughter actually related to Sasha.
Look, they´ll always be The Denalis to me, originating from Slovakia. It´s just how we (well, I) got to know them. HOWEVER-
I just can´t unsee this now. The idea that they would call themselves "Alexandrovna" aka "Daughter of Alexandra" is just so perfect. It just makes sense, yknow? (Ofc yk, you sent me that ask, after all.)
I love all of this, especially considering I´ve been struggling with that name-topic ever since I started writing bits about Sasha as well. Technically, when I´m including Sasha in my writing, none of them are Denalis yet because the Denalis only became the Denalis because they settled in Denali, which is something that didn´t happen yet whenever I imagine Sasha with them. Sooo-
RIGHT, here´s what´s going to happen:
Whenever we´re talking about the sisters before Denali, they shall be the Alexandrovna sisters. I will put that in the tags as well.
Otherwise, they´ll remain the Denali sisters (but I´ll probs have them use "Alexandrovna" as a middle name because it just makes so much sense).
Sasha is just...Sasha, for now, because we don´t know her father´s name. So we can´t do the same for her as we did for the sisters just now. Perhaps I´ll come up with something, we´ll see. đ
(How about Ivan, though? Alexandra (Sasha) Ivanovna. I think it´s got quite a nice ring to it. đ¤)
.
For anyone confused af rn:
To this day, it is common practise in Russia to use a patronymic name as part of a person´s full name. Patronymic means using the father´s first name to form a person´s middle name, so to speak. We also differentiate between women and men here:
women: ending with ovna
men: ending with ovich
So, if we´re using "Alexandra" (aka Sasha) to form the middle name while keeping Denali as a last name, then we got:
Tanya Alexandrovna Denali
It´s not standard to use a matronym (mother´s first name) instead of a patronym, but it´s also not unheard of, so we´ll still go with it.
.
.
.
All in all, I think it´s quite a nice way to differentiate between the sisters with and without Sasha. I always imagine they´d be entirely different people if their mother was still with them, so it´s only fitting we treat them as such, in a way. Starting with their names. đ¤
Thank you so much for that truly inspiring ask! đĄđŤśđ

Leclerc family dinner
The sun was setting over Monaco, casting a golden hue through the large windows of the Leclerc family dining room. YN, Charles and Alexandra's teenage daughter, had invited her boyfriend, David, over for dinner. The table was beautifully set, reflecting the familyâs love for tradition mixed with a hint of modern flair.
As everyone gathered around the table, the atmosphere buzzed with excitement. Charles sat at the head of the table, his protective demeanor evident as he glanced at YN with a mixture of pride and wariness. Next to him, Alexandra wore a warm smile, trying to ease the tension that always lingered whenever new boyfriends entered the family circle.
âAre you ready for this, David?â Lando teased, smirking from his seat. âJust remember, weâre not just racing fans; weâre a family of racers. We take everything seriouslyâespecially dinner.â
David chuckled nervously, glancing at YN, who was biting her lip to suppress a laugh. âIâll do my best,â he replied, trying to sound confident despite the palpable pressure from the Leclerc clan.
âAlright, letâs dig in!â Charles said, gesturing to the lavish spread of pasta, fresh salads, and bread. The meal began with light-hearted banter, but it was clear that Charles and the uncles had a watchful eye on David.
As the meal progressed, YN felt her heart race. She loved having David around, but she could sense her fatherâs scrutiny. Amidst the laughter and stories, she suddenly realized she needed the salt.
âDaddy, can you pass the salt, please?â YN asked, her voice sweet yet steady.
Both Charles and David reached for the salt at the same time. For a brief moment, silence enveloped the room as they locked eyes. Then, chaos erupted.
Charles narrowed his eyes at David. âWhy did you reach for the salt?â he asked, his voice a mixture of disbelief and irritation.
âUh, Iââ David stammered, clearly caught off guard.
ââDaddyâ? Really?â Max chimed in, barely holding back a laugh, though his eyes sparkled with mischief. âI mean, thatâs bold, mate.â
âVery bold,â Lando echoed, grinning. âYou do realize youâre asking for trouble, right?â
âGuys, come on!â YN exclaimed, her face burning with embarrassment. âIt was just a slip!â
Charles turned to David, arms crossed. âSo, whatâs your excuse? You think you can just react to âDaddyâ like itâs no big deal?â
âUh, I mean, it was just a habit!â David stuttered, looking desperate for an escape. âI didnât mean anything by it.â
Alexandra, sensing the rising tension, leaned in to help. âEveryone, letâs take it easy. It was an innocent mistake,â she said, her tone soothing. âDavid didnât mean to cause any trouble.â
âTrouble?â Carlos scoffed, leaning back in his chair. âItâs not just trouble; itâs a declaration of war!â
âPlease, Carlos,â YN sighed, rubbing her temples. âCan we not escalate this?â
Max leaned forward, genuinely intrigued. âSo, David, tell us. What were you thinking when YN said that?â
âYeah, spill!â Lando added, winking. âWe need to know if youâre worth our YN or if we should start sharpening our forks.â
âI really wasnât thinking,â David admitted, his cheeks flushed. âI just⌠it felt natural? Iâm sorry. I'm so so sorry!â
âNatural?â Charles echoed, his brow furrowing. âNatural? In what universe is having your girlfriend call you âDaddyâ natural?â
âI think we should all calm downâ Alexandra interjected, trying to ease the situation, but even she felt the weight of Charlesâs glare. âBut maybe we should stick with first names for now?â
Charles huffed, shaking his head. âExactly! No more pet names under my roof.â
âDavid,â YN interjected, her voice softer now, âjust ignore them. Theyâre being dramatic.â
âDramatic? Iâm just looking out for you, YN!â Charles shot back, a hint of protectiveness creeping into his voice. âYou deserve someone who respects the family.â
âDad, I know that!â YN replied, her frustration bubbling over. âBut Iâm not a child anymore. David respects me!â
âDoes he, though?â Max teased, crossing his arms, the corner of his mouth twitching up. âThis could be the most entertaining dinner ever!â
âCan we just finish dinner without interrogating him?â YN pleaded, her eyes darting from her father to her uncles. âHeâs a great guy. Just give him a chance.â
Alexandra put a hand on YNâs arm. âSweetheart, weâre just trying to look out for you. You know how protective they are.â
David looked at YN, his eyes pleading for support. YN looked at everyone before saying: âI swear Iâll never call him that again. Just please letâs move on.â
Charles sighed, his demeanor softening slightly. âFine, but weâre not done discussing this.â
âYeah, not even close,â Lando whispered dramatically to Carlos, who nodded in agreement.
As the meal continued, the laughter resumed, but there was a newfound tension beneath the surface. YN kept stealing glances at David, who was trying to blend in and not draw more attention to himself.
âHey, David,â Carlos said suddenly, breaking the brief silence, âwhatâs your favorite race track? Or is that a secret now, too?â
David chuckled, grateful for the change of subject. âI think Iâd have to say Monaco, obviously! Itâs iconic. But honestly, the atmosphere at Silverstone is unbeatable.â
âNice choice,â Lando replied, nodding. âBut you better be prepared for the Leclerc family charmâor lack thereof.â
âMore like the Leclerc family chaos,â Max added with a grin.
âSeriously,â YN murmured to David, her eyes glinting with amusement. âYou have no idea what youâre in for.â
âJust promise me one thing,â David said, leaning closer to her. âIf this gets any more chaotic, youâll save me from the crossfire, right?â
âIâll do my best,â she replied, trying to suppress a smile.
As dessert was servedâa delicious chocolate mousseâCharles took a deep breath, finally relaxing. âAlright, David. Youâre still on thin ice, but I suppose you can survive the evening⌠for now.â
The uncles laughed, and the atmosphere shifted again, returning to the warmth that filled the Leclerc home. YN felt a wave of relief wash over her. Maybe theyâd all survive this dinner after all.
As the night continued, amidst playful banter and the clinking of cutlery, YN couldnât help but think that while her family might be a bit overprotective, it was all rooted in love. And maybe, just maybe, David would become a part of this chaotic, wonderful family after all.

Most anticipated 2024 books!
I am anticipating a lot of books. To keep track of them, I made a 2024 tbr shelf. It has 123 books. I certainly won't be reading all 123, but since I can sort the list by release date it helps me keep track of new releases. Unfortunately, 123 is so many that half of them I don't even remember adding them or what they're about, so I decided to boil it down to 10 most anticipated new books and 10 sequels.
New
Faebound - Saara El-Arifi - Jan 18
Voyage of the Damned - Frances White - Jan 18
Fathomfolk - Eliza Chan - Feb 27

The Lost Grand Duchesses part 2: Alexandra Pavlovna
When she was born at 7:40 in the morning in 1783, the baby Grand Duchess Alexandra Pavlovna was instantly viewed as second class. Her grandmother, Catherine II âthe Greatâ, wrote âI infinitely more like boys than girlsâ, and told her staff that she found the newborn to be very ugly. She called the baby âa very ugly creature.â This dislike of Alexandra continued into her toddler years, when Catherine continuously compared the young Alexandra to her baby sister, insisting that little Elena was much more charming and intelligent than Alexandra.
Despite this, Alexandra adored her grandmother, who wrote that the little girl would do âanything just to please me.â Alexandra and Elena were painted together as a gift to Catherine, and the two little girls lovingly hold up and caress a diamond encrusted miniature portrait of their grandmother.
By the age of four, Alexandraâs education had begun, and her intelligence in languages (being fluent in four) and writing made Catherine finally pay more attention to her, but for entirely different reasons.
As soon as the little girl turned eleven, Catherine wrote that the little girl who loved to dance, draw, and play music, was now to be âconsidered an adultâ, and be made to marry. âIt is time for the older one to get marriedâ she concluded, not even mentioning Alexandraâs name.
A long and embarassing debacle followed, in which the child was left at the alter. Catherine admitted that the young girl, not yet a teenager, often adopted a âconfused lookâ when having to meet with potential husbands, and did not want to speak to them.
Catherine died in 1797, temporarily putting Alexandraâs fate in limbo. She returned to her daily life as an unmarried girl, and even published anonymous articles that she had translated in French under the pseudonym âAâ. However, in 1799, the prospect of an Austrian-Russian alliance was apparently too attractive to pass on, and the thirty-year-old Archduke Joseph of Austria, the Palatine of Hungary, travelled to Russia to meet the thirteen-year-old Alexandra.
The marriage was finalised, and Alexandra was forced to leave Russia - and her family - in order to move to Hungary with her new husband. Joseph wrote a letter to his brother in which he stated he was âconvinced that with this marriage my domestic bliss is assured for the entirety of my life.â
Alexandra, on the other hand, was miserable. Countess Varvara Golovina, a lady at court and potential lover of the Tsarina Elizaveta Alexeievna, wrote in her memoirs that Alexandra was sad, and did not want to be forced to leave Russia. Her father, Pavel I, constantly said that he would ânot see her againâ and that she was âbeing sacrificed.â Despite this, Pavel could have prevented the marriage at any time. A single lock of golden hair fashioned into a flower was all that she left behind.
Although Alexandra was popular in Hungary among all classes, she was deeply depressed. Her friendly and charming personality had been replaced by a new temperament which was âalways serious and sadâ. Alexandra especially did not get on well with her mother in law, the Empress Maria Theresa of Hungary, who was intensely jealous of the young girlâs popularity. Maria Theresa intentionally antagonised the teenager, and sought to treat her badly.
In 1800, Alexandra fell pregnant, and was struck with health problems. Her mother-in-law ordered the hiring incompetent doctors (known to her to be incompetent) and insisted that the doctors obey her orders, rather than present their own educated solutions. Orders from Maria Theresa included cooking meals which Alexandra would not be able to eat, making her weak and frail.
In March 1801, Alexandra gave birth to a little girl, named Alexandrine of Austria. The pregnancy and labour had been incredibly difficult, and the baby sadly passed away within a few hours of birth. Alexandra, depressed at having been forcibly taken from her home and after having to endure cruel treatment by her mother-in-law, said: âThank God that my daughter was now with the angels, without experiencing the miser that we are exposed to.â
Alexandra contracted puerperal fever. The doctors misdiagnosed her poor health after the birth several times, treating her for gastric diseases and typhoid rather than âchildbedâ fever. She succumbed to the disease aged just seventeen years old.
Alexandra was not buried until two years after her death due to disagreements in the Catholic Austrian court over where to bury a Russian Orthodox. In 1981, thieves broke into Alexandraâs Mausoleum, looting her coffin and taking jewellery and clothing from her remains. Due to the vandalism, she was reburied with the deceased wives and children of her husband in the crypt of Buda Castle, which went against her wishes to be buried in an Orthodox Church. In 2004, she was reburied at the ĂrĂśm Mausoleum, in a small park surrounded by a moat. Inside the tomb, Orthodox icons line the walls, a reflection of Alexandraâs beloved faith, and her deep connection with Russia, which endured even after being âsacrificedâ.

Meet Alexandra Caroline Speedwagon (adopted by Speedwagon and my Phantom Blood OC, Alicia)
Here's the next of my Jojo's Bizarre Adventure OCs, Alexandra!
If you haven't seen my first OC, Alicia, here's her post!
As before, I will include the bio!
Name: Alexandra Caroline SpeedwagonÂ
Species: Human (Hamon user)
Age at the start of Battle Tendency: 21
Height: 5â7
Hair: Auburn with strawberry blonde highlights, Merida curls, down to the bottom of the shoulder blades.
Eyes: Hetrochromatic. Left eye is hazel and right is grey.
Skin: Fairly tan with freckles spattered over her upper half, concentrated on her face and shoulders.Â
Build: Slightly stocky, but not bulky. Wider shoulders with a fairly slim waist. Muscular without being overly so. Not to be underestimated.
Outfits: Mostly button-up shirts with high-waisted pants. If itâs a more formal occasion, sheâll wear skirts or a dress, but she doesnât really like wearing them. In winter, she wears peacoats on top with beanies and fur-lined boots. In summer, she wears shorts and short pantsuits.Â
Abilities: Some Hamon uses. Mostly just the basics, but she knows the basics really well. She focused a bit more on healing than fighting. And then she trains with Lisa Lisa and got a lot better at fighting and gained some more healing tips.Â
Personality: Similar to Joseph, but not quite to his level. She has more awareness of the consequences of her actions and isn't as self-centered as Joseph, but is still a goofball who will prank you or fight you at a momentâs notice. Has a lot of respect for those who earn her respect, like her parents, Erina, and Joseph to some degree. Has no respect for people who pick on others for no reason.Â
Occupation: Former family headache, current CEO of the Speedwagon Foundation.
Misc: Alex must have a cup of coffee in the morning. Otherwise, sheâll be whiney and complaining of a headache all day.
She got bullied for her heterochromia when she was younger, and her and Joseph got into fights about it growing up.
Her and Joseph are protective of each other and refer to each other as siblings, which confuses a lot of people.
Sheâs also very protective of her family and Erina. Heaven forbid anyone threaten them. Expect to be beaten the shit out of.
She met Ceasar Zepelli at a charity gala, they danced together, and he was intrigued by her after she caught on to his Hamon kiss and got mad at him about it. Then he spoke to Speedwagon about her and got her address, sending her letters explaining himself and they become friends, then start dating a little while later, just passing their two-year anniversary when Battle Tendency starts. Joseph doesnât approve of this Italian Casanova âstealing his sisterâ, so they still have that ârivals to kind of friends to best friendsâ dynamic.Â
Hope you guys like her! :)
