i might be totally wrong but they said ben died to free big alice and they didn’t have any breach suits on board for the manual override, but… ben had to go on the other side, on snowpiercer, in order to free big alice, i think he even discussed the issue of crossing into enemy territory in the scene with till, and he is actually on the other side when she runs to him, and… they do have breach suits on snowpiercer? i guess they would, as was shown in 4x02 and also considering they’re still spending a month on the tracks between stops at the silo and could need them, especially if they’re retrofitting the train.

so what the fuck? was he just too lazy to bother looking for one or particularly eager to die?

please tell me i missed something and they didn’t sacrifice for shock value a good character, one half of the long-standing main most stable ship of the show and the possibility of a family dynamic with mel and alex that actually sees the three of them in the same environment and scene for more than 15 seconds (+ the ending of mel’s heartbreak and loss for just one second of her already very slim screentime)

I would have liked it if, in the conversation between Mel and Alex about his biological father, Alex had made a comment like: "You know, there was a time when I thought Ben might be my father. Especially when we were on the pirate train.I don't know, you were together and the way he always talked about you… And how he looked at me sometimes and those teaching moments on the train… Sometimes I think it would have been nice if it was him. Ben was a good guy"

Her parents have got to be a little fucked up because this woman is insanely good at lying and keeping secrets, like most people do not get that good at lying unless they had to you feel me?  I think at least she just had a really different view of the world and idea of how she wanted her life to be from a young age, and had to learn to hide those things just to keep the peace in her house.  I’m thinking specifically of how Ruth felt so betrayed when the truth came out because she never suspected anything was off about Melanie—like, usually when people are holding something really big back, the average medium-perceptive person can at least tell they’re being kept at arm’s length.  Melanie managed to maintain good relationships with the people she worked closely with who couldn’t know the truth even back when she was probably terrified of whether the other engineers would keep the secret/what would happen if someone found out, which is an insane level of convincing lying.

I know this was just unbelievably shitty writing but I enjoy believing Melanie was legit more or less fine after microdosing on the suspension drug and idk?  meth?  to wake herself up? everyone else who was completely rekt by it in season 1, that was just a skill issue.  be better. be melanie cavill.

painful and fun to inflict

You know what the show didn’t deal with enough???  The pain of Melanie’s realization that her mentor, someone for whom she basically gave up her whole life, fucking sucks and will absolutely destroy all her hard work and also humanity if she doesn’t do something.  The sacrifice of knowing that she will never, ever be thanked for what she does—indeed, she will be vilified for it, but that barely even matters to her, because she knows that what she is doing is the only way.  She knows no one else can ever truly understand her choices or her mindset. And there's even this sense in some of her interactions that, how do I put this...like, people think, in a sort of disgusted way, that Melanie has a certain sense of pride about what she did, or that she at least believes it was the right thing to do, and people even judge her for that!  And she accepts this without complaint!  She never even really argues with people who call her out for her actions because she knows they just will never understand! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!

look it’s not too late to make her a lesbian.  or just like.  not associated with men.  listen to me.  listen.  we don’t have to acknowledge that dude whose name I have literally forgotten.  see?  I’m already erasing him from existence.  or her literal child because that entire plot is stupid. all of that is fake and also a suspension drug hallucination.  we are all still on the train.  melanie cavill did nothing wrong.  she should have tortured more people.

no but actually what I’m getting at is, I really think giving her the random man plot and giving her the child plot are just so unbelievably basic and a disservice to her character and you could literally completely remove those elements and the show would be literally the same except better.  she has SUCH a unique setup I have never seen anything like that before and then you went and gave her child agenda to show she’s redeemable because surely nothing besides child agenda could do that!

.....i feel like these maybe veered away from headcanons and were more just rants about how melanie cavill deserved better.
