What is an example of machine learning in data analytics?
Tumblr media
Here's an example of how machine learning can be applied in data analytics:
Predictive Customer Churn Analysis:
Imagine you work for a telecommunications company, and you're tasked with reducing customer churn (the rate at which customers switch to competing providers). You have a historical dataset containing information about customer demographics, usage patterns, billing data, and whether each customer eventually churned or remained with your company.
Here's how you can use machine learning for predictive customer churn analysis:
Data Preparation: First, you clean and preprocess the data, handling missing values, encoding categorical variables, and normalizing numeric features.
Data Splitting: You split the dataset into a training set and a test set. The training set is used to train machine learning models, while the test set is used to evaluate their performance.
Feature Selection: You identify which features (customer attributes) are most relevant for predicting churn. This can be done using techniques like feature importance scores or domain knowledge.
Model Selection: You choose machine learning algorithms suitable for binary classification tasks like logistic regression, decision trees, random forests, or support vector machines.
Model Training: You train the selected machine learning models using the training data analyst course The models learn to recognize patterns in the data that are indicative of customer churn.
Model Evaluation: You evaluate the performance of the models using metrics like accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 score on the test set. These metrics help you understand how well the models can predict churn.
Hyperparameter Tuning: You fine-tune the model hyperparameters to improve their performance. This involves adjusting settings like the learning rate, tree depth, or regularization strength.
Deployment: Once you have a well-performing model, you can deploy it in a production environment. This model can take real-time data inputs, make predictions about whether a customer is likely to churn, and trigger retention strategies, such as targeted marketing campaigns or personalized offers.

Innovations in Liquid-Liquid Extraction Technology: How Process Solutions Providers Are Driving Progress
Liquid-liquid extraction, also known as solvent extraction, is a process that separates two or more substances based on their solubility in two immiscible liquids. This separation technique has been used for over a century in various industries, including pharmaceuticals, food and beverages, mining, and petrochemicals. However, with the increasing demand for more efficient and sustainable processes, liquid-liquid extraction technology has undergone significant advancements in recent years.
One of the main drivers of innovation in liquid-liquid extraction technology is the need to reduce the environmental impact of chemical processes. The use of renewable solvents, such as ionic liquids, deep eutectic solvents, and bio-based solvents, has gained popularity in recent years due to their low toxicity, biodegradability, and renewability. Additionally, novel membrane materials, such as graphene oxide and metal-organic frameworks, have been developed to improve the selectivity and efficiency of liquid-liquid extraction.
In this blog post, we will explore the emerging trends in liquid-liquid extraction technology and the innovative process solutions that leverage these technologies. We will also discuss how automation and data analytics tools are enhancing liquid-liquid extraction processes, and provide case studies of successful implementation of innovative liquid-liquid extraction technologies by process solutions providers.
Emerging Trends in Liquid-Liquid Extraction
The use of renewable solvents is one of the most significant emerging trends in liquid-liquid extraction technology. Ionic liquids, for instance, are salts that are liquid at room temperature and have a wide range of applications due to their unique properties, such as low volatility, high thermal stability, and high selectivity. They have been used in various processes, including the extraction of metals from ores, the separation of aromatic hydrocarbons, and the purification of proteins.
Deep eutectic solvents (DESs) are another type of renewable solvent that has gained attention in recent years. DESs are mixtures of two or more compounds that form a eutectic point, a temperature at which the mixture has the lowest melting point. This property makes them useful as solvents in various industries, including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and separation processes. DESs are non-toxic, biodegradable, and have low vapor pressure, making them an attractive alternative to traditional solvents.
Novel membrane materials are also an emerging trend in liquid-liquid extractor technology. Graphene oxide, for example, has been used as a membrane material for liquid-liquid extraction due to its high permeability and selectivity. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are another type of membrane material that has shown promising results in liquid-liquid extraction. MOFs are porous materials that can be designed to have specific properties, such as high surface area, chemical stability, and tunable porosity, making them useful in various separation processes.
Automation and Data Analytics in Liquid-Liquid Extraction
Automation and data analytics tools are enhancing liquid-liquid extraction processes by improving efficiency, reducing human error, and providing real-time process monitoring. For example, automated liquid-liquid extraction systems, provide precise control over the extraction parameters, such as temperature, agitation, and solvent flow rate, resulting in improved reproducibility and yield.
Data analytics tools enable real-time monitoring and control of liquid-liquid extraction processes by collecting and analyzing data from various sensors and instruments. This allows for early detection of process deviations and optimization of process parameters, resulting in improved efficiency and reduced solvent consumption.
Conclusion
Liquid-liquid extraction technology has undergone significant advancements in recent years, driven by the need for more efficient and sustainable processes. The use of renewable solvents and novel membrane materials, as well as the integration of automation and data analytics tools, have enabled process solutions providers to develop innovative solutions that improve efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and provide cost savings. The successful implementation of these solutions in various industries is a testament to their effectiveness and potential for widespread adoption.

Was gonna wait to post this outside of ko-fi until I posted the corresponding part of my fic BUT since that's on hold for a hot second I might as well do it now!
So much yapping under the cut because I can't help myself lol (Mostly just a stream of consciousness, so its kind of a word salad)
I like to think that colors can change in brightness, mix with others, and appear in certain areas/patterns to give a bit of complexity to the use of colors for communication.
Top left is pretty straightforward- yellow is fear. It's the full body "puffed up cat" kind of fear where it's the ony emotion being processed. A lingering anxiousness would be shown more like a general yellow centered around the chest, while the rest of their body remains the same color. Feelings like a slight nervousness (Like handling a delicate object with big crab-claws, for example) would be shown through a "rippling" wave of yellow overtop of whatever colors are already present, originating from the chest or hands. ((link) this is pretty close to what I imagine (If the link doesn't work, skip to about 2:10) Spooky ocean warning! though if you're seeing this post in the first place I assume you're probably fine with it )
Green is analytical - He does this a few times in-game, and it's what makes the most sense to me. I also like to think it's the reasoning behind a lot of the Architect's... well, architecture. Green is a really predominant color in all of the architect structures / data hubs / machines / etc., so in cultural sense it would make sense for the Architects to be using the color representing their core values. The light blue around his sides is amusement/joy. (I put a little bit of this into my first chapter iirc) This is also based pretty closely to what we see in-game. (I.e. the little wave he does back at Robin, it's silly and playful and I love it sm)
The gray/dull tones (bottom left) are just that- the "muting/dulling" of whatever color it's applied to. The Architect who kind of killed his entire species is a little depressed if you can believe it! A muted blue (indigo, rather than light blue) would be melancholy, and the yellow tint in there is stress/dread. A completely dim gray Architect is basically completely numb, which is distinct from the typical "resting color" that Architects have when not feeling any emotion in particular at a given moment.
Dark blue (Or indigo, bottom right) is sadness. It could also be read as a sense of longing or wistfulnes, or a lot of other nuanced feelings depending on other colors or context clues.
And of course magenta (bottom middle) and that coral-ish color are love, more or less. It's a sense of fondness and deep affection, though Al-an himself is probably under the impression it's more like a loyalty and protectiveness; I don't think he has any real experience with love considering what we know about the network.
The coral color in the center of his chest is something I'll dive into more when I get that chapter out, but I think of it as a flush/heat, like an Architect blush. Orange is added to colors to increase the intensity of the emotion underneath, such as the inclusion with magenta to mean flustered or to red to mean a more heated rage. An embarassed architect would be fully orange, possibly leaning a bit towards pink, red or yellow depending on the specific situation.
For an "emotionless peak of innovation and efficiency" I am determined to shove SO many feelings into this shrimp horse. This stream of word spaghetti will eventually get rewritten into a basic color code.

Bitches be like “In all the Labru fanart I’ve seen, Kabru is the more masculine and hairier one even when he’s transmasc.” I don’t believe it. Gonna need some evidence. Photo evidence. You know what they say: Can’t believe it until you see it. Unless you’re like blind or religious but I’m not either of those things so I’d like some visual proof to support this claim. You know what they also say? Back up your claims with evidence. For a claim like this? I’m gonna need some photo evidence. This is just like the scientific process, you know? This is just smart analytical thinking. And you know, you can’t just have one piece of data. You have to have several to confirm it’s true. At least like 10 examples of this would be good. Just gotta be through, you know? Oh, but what if there’s like deviation and stuff? You know, maybe somebody outta send me 20 examples of this, just in case. We really gotta make sure our claims are backed up here. Really, all it would take is like if someone sent me maybe 28 images of fanart where Kabru is masc and hairy. This is all scientific and professional. Oh, and since this is just supporting the claim that Kabru is depicted that way, you don’t really need to include Laios. You know it could just be fanart in general of Kabru like that. This is for the sake of backing up claims of course. We don’t want to be saying wrong things, right? So we should really compile all the evidence. Preferably on this post or in my inbox or anywhere else I could keep track of it. You know, I’m actually very organized, so if someone were to send me 34 Kabru fanarts where he is masc and hairy, I would be able to keep them all together. I’m very professional like that. I’m someone you could trust to send 52 fanarts of Kabru to. I’m so trustworthy, you could even send me 67 of them and I would keep them all in order. Perchance if someone were to, for whatever reason, send me 79 of them, I would be able to deal with that as well. You know, the more the merrier? This also the case in science. The more data you analyze, the more accurate the results. Really, you should send me the fanart where Kabru is masc and hairy and where he isn’t so I can compare them. This is just the data analysis process of course. Maybe I could get like 86 of each? You know, for science? I took science classes in school, so I’m very qualified to talk about what I’m talking about right now. AU on the periodic table is gold. That’s just from my head. That’s how science I am. And for the sake of science, maybe we should really expand our pool of data. Maybe we should get Kabru art where he is masc, where is fem, and where he is genderbent and masc, and genderbent and fem. You know, having all of this data is so scientific because scientists love data. You know the saying? A data a day keeps the scientist sane. Yeah. They call me doctor because of how science. You should trust me with 200 of each type of Kabru fanart. I am very trusty. I even have a resume that says “Trusty trusty trusty” because that’s how trusty I am. I think it would be very helpful if I received 700 of each type of Kabru fanart. Did I already specify cis and trans Kabru? I can’t remember but my memory will improve once I receive 9000 fanart of Kabru. That’s actually a proven fact by science. I’m science so it’s true. It would also help improve my brain functions if Kabru in those fanarts has body hair regardless of gender. Did you know? Kabru fanart. Yes? Send to me. Ooh you wanna send me Kabru fanart so bad 🌀🌀🌀🌀🌀🌀🌀🌀. Guys? You might wanna see this. These readings say if you don’t send me Kabru fanart I am going to explode in the next five minutes. Send me 1838392020 Kabru fanart and tell your friends to do the same to save me from exploding. I’m a visual learner so I need Kabru fanart for my education. Pleaseeeee
Me when no Kabru fanart ☹️ Me when yes Kabru fanart 🥰. See the sad vs happy? The happy is good. In order to happy, I require 47373828289394848494 Kabru fanart. I am not very picky and I will also enjoy canonical Kabru images. Just send me 37382929929293948484 Kabru images and I will be all good. I also accept Kabru fanfic, headcanons, theories, rants, edits, and literally anything. Just 474838292928447477473822933949484 more Kabru until smiley face. Pretty please. Come on guys. This is a very good illustration of the increasing susceptibility to conspiratorial thought patterns I've been seeing on the left lately. Just because you don't believe there are space marines on Mars doesn't mean you're immune to building imaginary connections between aesthetic or emotional data points and mistaking them for evidence. A lot of well meaning people in my circles have been sharing this story, buying uncritically into the first narrative they encountered. I want to break down why:
Jones' twitter thread was extremely emotional and extremely urgent. The idea of a child being ripped away from his frantic mother and a ticking clock to decide his fate both helped the story to bypass analytical scrutiny. It sends the message 'act now, before it's too late, it's the only compassionate thing to do'.
Her connection to an existing conspiracy (a concerted effort by the state to cover up Covid statistics) creates a strengthening association with the idea that this is also a conspiracy. The thread offers no positive evidence that her son's arrest was a conspiracy, and no positive evidence that his arrest has any connection to her prior experiences.
Jones' allegation that the arrest was retribution for her actions as a whistleblower implicitly identifies her in the reader's mind. A lot could be unpacked about her dispute with the DOH but it doesn't really matter because I don't think most people who circulated this story knew much about it either way. The point is that it anchors her identity in a few key concepts: 'whistleblower', 'covid scientist', 'concerned citizen'. None of these qualities are relevant to the events detailed in the thread (or evidenced in the thread, if we're being really rigorous), but they unconsciously prejudice the reader's assessment of whether to trust or side with her. Simply put, if you are concerned about how covid was handled and/or inclined to support whistleblowers, you are more likely to assume she's credible.
If you dislike and distrust cops, you are primed to accept a narrative in which they are doing something straightforwardly evil. Don't get me wrong, fuck 12, but I say that armed with an enormous preponderance of cases in which we have positive evidence of police acting out of self interest, cruelty, corruption, racism, misogyny, etc. Allowing ourselves to be seduced by the fantasy that they are always always without fail breaking rules and fashing it up in broad daylight only makes us easier to delude and manipulate.
She repeatedly made the point that her son is autistic. Again, if you are autistic or sympathetic to autistic people, you are more likely to be 'warmed up' by this detail and inclined to take her side. I'm not going to say it's irrelevant to the idea that he was being unfairly targeted, but it is overwhelmingly emotionally weighted. And again, it is not evidence that he was unfairly targeted. It's another weight on the scale that tips you to judge the truth value of her story without reality checking.
The example of a meme that she shared is characteristic of a type of online humour that is at least familiar to most of us. If you or your friends make edgy jokes and share tasteless irony memes, or if you've been online for more than like a week, you understand that they're mostly harmless. The idea that this meme could be used as evidence by law enforcement to detain you is ideologically threatening in an immediately relatable way. It evokes a reflex defensive impulse — that's not fair, the cops are wrong, the kid is innocent — bypassing the process of verification. Is this meme the reason he was arrested? Is it the only one he posted? Is it the only reason he was arrested?
All of these factors create a gut-led constellation of information that quickly forms a picture. Because it is being pieced together from multiple subconscious feelings and prejudices, it feels as if it has been evidenced. Because the thread was highly emotional and highly urgent, readers were pressured to jump to rapid conclusions and ask "what can I do to help?" (and the answer, as it almost always is, was 'donate money, quick').
I want to be really clear that I am not saying Jones manufactured any of these effects on purpose. It would be completely within reason that having a young child arrested would send anyone into an emotional tailspin, grasping for reasons this might have happened, leaping to his defense, rallying resources to fight on his behalf. I am not in any way ascribing malice to her actions.
What I'm interested in is the effect that this emotive kneejerk appeal had on people who were unknowingly predisposed to believe that the state of Florida would kidnap a child to punish a scientist for disagreeing with the department of health about covid statistics. That is a baseless conspiracy theory, and a huge number of people in my immediate circles reflexively amplified it.
Personally, I think arrest is a godawful way to respond to a child having a mental health crisis, even if they are seen to pose a violent threat. That still doesn't mean the cops did it at the bidding of a mad dictator in waiting. In the hypothetical parallel universe where it turns out Jones was right and this was all a conspiracy to punish her, it still would not have served the situation to jump to that conclusion on a gut feeling.
Pausing to identify relevant, verifiable facts before sharing a story like this is always warranted, even if you think the person telling it is 'on your side'. The more you worry that questioning the narrative wastes precious time or makes you a bad person, the more you should scrutinise why you are being made to feel that way. Accepting unfounded conspiracies into your worldview is not benign, even if you think the 'targets' deserve it. It erodes your critical perspective and turns you into a vector for the people around you.
tl;dr: you are not immune to baseless conspiratorial thought

One type of fanfic i just cannot read is future Anya fics because they always get her wrong. And i get it this is just how future fics work but i feel it's important to remember that Anya is only the way she is currently because she is a child and to me on of the most important parts of the story is how much being adopted by Twilight changed her life and put her on the trajectory for growth that she otherwise would have been denied.
Anya is only stupid today. She is going to grow into a brilliant girl regardless of what happens. It always feels so regressive seeing her be portrayed as childish and clueless even after living with a spy and attending Eden for 10+ years.
To understand why Anya is going to become smart you have to understand why she is stupid first.
(note: i am not referring to academic intellect but rather social skills, logic, reasoning and general awareness. Whether or not Anya spends the rest of her life failing maths and writing like she's having a stroke is beyond me and completely irrelevant to my point)
One of the major issues with the computer science world is AI and Data Analytics because for decades people have been pouring time and money into developing these sophisticated computers that are able to accurately emulate the human mind and intelligence to be used in automation and data processing. They’re now left with 2 issues: Big data (so much unprocessed data that has been gathered and sat uninterpreted) and human-dependent AI (AI systems that are overly reliant on human interaction they become more of a hassle than an aid). In other words the computers are very smart but they just don’t know what to do with all the information and in the end just return garbage.
Anya has a similar dilemma. She is very capable. Her mind reading abilities enable her to gather information like no other the problem is she doesn’t actually know how to use that information in a meaningful way. Throughout the manga we see her attempting (and even succeeding) to use her powers for her own advantage. But because of her age and lack of education the ways she can use her powers are limited.
Anya shows great attention to detail and clearly has good hindsight. She’s somewhat reactive but it’s obvious she still considers what impact her actions may have in the long term, she’s always trying to make the best move she just doesn’t know that many moves and her imagination is juvenile. We regular see Anya trying to gain intel on Damian so that she can use it to get closer to him and progress on plan B.
One example is with the dogs, she thinks if Damian sees she has a dog that they will have something to talk about and hopefully he’ll want to spend more time with her. The problems comes with Anya’s thinking and it hinders her approach. Rather than view it as an opportunity to find commonality she sees at a chance to impress him, and in the end it fails because Damian sees her as just trying to brag and show off rather than trying to make a genuine connection. Anya acts this way because she’s 5 and doesn’t really know how to socialize or relate to people.
In this situation she had two important pieces of information: 1) Damian has a dog that he likes and 2) Damian struggles with making friends and thinks everyone is just trying to exploit him. It’s that second part she fumbles and ends up making Damian feel even more guarded around her. She doesn’t have the fully developed emotional intelligence to understand and relate with Damian in a way that’s actually beneficial. But the thing is she can learn.
And so when you write future fics of Anya and she’s still the same erratic braggadocios little girl you’re effectively overlooking on her best traits, her awareness. Anya isn’t stupid she just doesn’t know how to be smart and that’s what makes her act so stupid.
For me, when writing future Anya, I think of all the people in her life, their specific skills and strengths and how Anya can use those to become a better more well rounded person. Specifically, Twilight and Handler. The Handler thing is more of a hc but Twilight has shown interest in Anya beyond the mission.
One of my favourite scenes is when they’re looking out the window and he asks to try and guess which person so most likely to be a spy, she assumes it’s the person who looks the strangest but he explains that a good spy is able to blend it and stand out the least. This changes Anya’s understanding of human behavior, it teaches a good trick to going unnoticed and gives her a detail to look out for when trying to find a mole/spy. It’s a small moment but it provides a lot of information that she can use later on in her life. Although nothing like that really happens again we can assume he continues to give her little tidbits of advice and information on espionage work as well as her seeing him in action (not really in a mission but just the way he operates) will teach her how to interpret situations in a way that can actually help her.
So not only does Anya have access to a lot of information, she knows the value of the information and she’s learning how to use that information. And that’s why I’m always confused when people write her in the future and she still can’t figure out that Damian likes her. ITS NOT REALISTIC.
And I’m not saying she’s gonna become all cool and suave when she grows up. I don’t think her personality is going to change much. In fact I think she’s going to deliberately avoid changing her personality, or at least her public persona. Anya will use people’s perception of her as childish and stupid to make herself less suspicious and trustworthy. (Also I don’t think she’s gonna change that much anyways bc that’s not how people work) but when thinking for her perspective she’s gonna be more aware and observant.
This rant is gotta long and it’s kinda nonsensical so I’m gonna stop here but please stop writing Anya as a stupid adult. It’s annoying and so boring.
But in the end it’s your fanfic do what you want 🥰❤️

i love reading through other platforms' data exports of what they have on me.
for example, Discord's data export has a few big JSON files of "analytics events", that seem to accidentally contain some things that are probably not really analytics events.
there are these fun "prediction" JSON blobs in a different format than the events...
one of them is trying to predict my gender. "predicted_gender: male", over and over. and what's really hilarious is that it logs its estimated accuracy and the timestamp of the attempt. so i can see that in late 2022, discord kept started to try to predict my gender, and it swung from 91% confident i was male to only 71%, and has been doing this prediction process almost daily this year (2023), ranging from ~70% confidence to ~92% confidence.
another is trying to predict my age, and has waffled between "25-34" and "35+" for a year. similarly with a wide range in confidence. makes me wonder what data modeling they're doing to make that prediction...
relatedly, it's always fun to look at the different event names a platform is logging, to get a taste of how granular they're tracking people... here are some fun ones:
start_listening
tooltip_viewed
context_menu_link_opened
keyboard_shortcut_used
premium_upsell_viewed
app_native_crash
jump
remix_surface_exit_modal
nuo_transition
there are over 400 different kinds of events logged in my data dump, and over 419,000 of these events logged. kinda scary!

ARE YOU SURE?!
Episode 4 production Notes
Again, I genuinely didn't think I'd have anything to say at this point about this episode. I had such a good time the first time I watched it, just smiling the whole way through. There is one thing that did stick in my brain a little bit though so here I am again with another post.
Tumblr media
Episode Break Points
We honestly can't be making any final conclusions at this point but there is starting to emerge a picture of how the production team approached the development of this show as an episodic release. The question that was rattling around my brain after watching episode 4 was how they are choosing their cut points between episodes. We really only have three data points right now which is not enough to definitively identify their intent but it does start to paint the picture a little bit. Sometimes, the break point is beyond obvious, like cutting ep.2 at the end of the USA trip. But when there's not a definitive line, a choice has to be made when to bring one episode to a close and start another.
Some shows use the changing of the day as a break point but that's not necessarily always the best choice to make for the narrative of the show. For example, the break between eps 1 and 2 is in the morning after JK has his coffee and makes the stone tower. This better served the momentum of the episode and wrapped up the story beat of JM's rough night. Ep 2 then starts on a high note with JK's motorbike ride. In my opinion, this was an excellent choice as we close ep.1 feeling all cozy and ep.2 begins with a little bit of excitement.
A Look Back
Tumblr media
So why am I bringing this up now? It's because I was so confused as the choice of when to break these two episodes. I don't know if I've decided if it was good/bad/somewhere-in-between but I absolutely was not expecting Episode 4 to start the way it did. Ep 3 ends at the Go Karts and feels like a complete story beat. While ep 4 starts with the drive to the Omakase.
To me, it feels like we're picking up on the last remains of the previous episode and not starting a new section. Which is honestly, kind of counterintuitive. Why would it feel like that? They're literally on their way to the next activity. I suspect it has more to do with the tonal momentum. The guys are still coming down from all of the energy they expended from Rock Climbing and racing and are having a well-deserved relaxing drive. Even the brief moments we see of JK on the motorbike are quite chill. (mostly because there's not really a great way to get action footage on a bike in the dark lol).
So...to see if I could support my suspicion, or if I was just bringing something else into my viewing experience, I decided to rewatch the whole series so far and rank every story beat on a scale for how energetic/intense I felt the narrative was supporting.
A couple of notes before you judge my rankings:
This data is the very definition of subjective. if I redid this same exercise even the next day, I'm sure I would disagree with myself on certain rankings so you certainly don't have to agree with my rankings.
If a storybeat had a noticeable tonal shift, I entered it twice and included both rankings. If it just varied a bit, I entered a ranking more representative of the scene as a whole.
This won't be reflective of the time occupied by each story beat. Some sections are longer than others but with sustained energy so it doesn't translate in this visual representation how much of an impact on the overall tone of the episode any one of these are.
I also added a star at the end of each episode of my median scores. I feel that this was a better representation of the overall tone of each episode rather than an average but that's just my personal view on this teeny dataset. Please don't come for me analytics folks! This is just a post for funzies, not proper analysis!

So What?
Tumblr media
The point was curious about is in the gap between eps 3 & 4. Everywhere else there's a pretty clear shift in the start and end of the energy but that gap looks like it was just a step that was missed in what could have been a continual episode.
Here are the runtimes of each episode so far:
USA: 56 min
USA: 72 Min
Jeju: 56 min
Jeju: 70 min
I don't have any conclusions about why it was done this way other than they felt the tonal break was the sacrifice for keeping the Omakase story line in tact. Which honestly, I agree. There would have been time to include the drive in the previous episode but it would have left us on an unfinished storybeat. This is one of the reasons that we never get footage of the members return trip from their travel shows. Bon Voyage ends every episode with the members remarking on the trip overall. Even though we know they have to return home, we don't see it because that would start to build energy for whatever they're doing next and not the story of their trip.
Even in ITS1 when the members do return home in the middle, we see them packing up and getting in the cars but the episode ends before they really start traveling. (Actually it ends before they even let Jin in the car so they're definitely not on their way yet!)
Commercials?
Tumblr media
I have a question for anyone that's watching this with ads. I don't really watch streaming content so I'm curious, do the ad breaks just randomly occur? Or does it seem like they're intentionally scheduled? Building story breaks for commercials was a huge focus of legacy tv and I'd be interested to learn more about how streaming services are incorporating it (not enough to not have commercials though, I get insta-rage when the content I'm consuming is interrupted lol). I vaguely remember getting frustrated when I was attempting to watch something at my parent's over the holidays but I don't recall if it seemed structured or not.
Tumblr media
That's it. That's all I've got to say right now. We're definitely getting a lot more to the story of this show and I'm absolutely loving it. I'm going to be away for a bit next week and I honestly don't know when I'll fit in watching episode 5 but I'm very much looking forward to it!
If you've seen this post and are interested in some more of my thoughts on Are You Sure, here's a link to my AYS MasterList. Still can't believe I've rambled so much about this show but it's been fun! Thanks to everyone that's been rambling with me!
