Every time I rewatch The Amazing World of Gumball I'm reminded that Gumball/Darwin are basically dating without the label.

why do i always get obsessed with rare pairs or dead ships? Like i will get into a fandom from a popular ship and then immediately ignore that ship and focus on the weirdest ships and make them my entire personality

here are. my thoughts on the way aging works in the amazing world of gumball because i have thought about the laws of their world a lot.

so. tawog tends to be pretty meta. the voice actors for gumball and darwin change when the actors' voices start to break. and this is always (or almost always) written into the show. a key time is the episode where their voices start to crack and they realise they're becoming adults (s3e1 The Kids). the whole episode is them dealing with the realisation that they can't be children forever. a doctor tells them that a very small percentage of people never grow up, usually tv characters. at the end of the episode their voices change to be higher- the new voice actors. gumball says something along the lines of "i think my voice is even higher than before!"

the only character to ever age naturally in the show is rachel wilson, tobias' sister. and she disappears from the show pretty early on. she is high school aged when she disappears, and later in the show tobias mentions that she's at college. so i think characters in the show are stuck at their ages, unless they leave the show, and they can then continue their lives normally. gumball was born in '99, but then his aging froze at age 12 when the show started (2011). fun tidbit in that he'd now be around 17 (24 turning 25 legally)

overall this is completely unimportant! but fun to think about!
