HERE WE ARE!!! PT2

Let. Wukong. Be. A. Good. Dad.
I know he tries his best for MK. He tries even if he's f*cked up a lot but he does care for the boy and his subjects.
But I mean like more content of him having fluffy moments with Mk in fandom PLEASE.
I love me some sunburst duo!!! I would eat it up
And praise the lord for artists and writers who do use sunburst duo!
Listen, I love my spicynoodles, shadowpeaches and freenoodles as much as the next person
But coming from an SBI fan who used to consume so much found family daily I kinda got hungover-
I kinda wish there was more platonic or gen stuff here...
Freenoodles + Mk fam and jackfruit duo are a godsend but do tend to get overshadowed a lot.
So I decided to yeet some to the pile with this adorable duo (hopefully you can actually see them through the dark, I swear it wasn't this dim when I drew it...)
Oh and yes this was inspired by that other sunburst duo comic I will try to link if I can but give that artist some love and I hope you can enjoy this too!
Man I did not intend to shade this much but gosh golly jeebas!

Wukong is a morning person. Macaque is NOT. Wukong tries to sneak out of bed in the morning but Macaque has an iron grip on him.
Wukong loves to paint so Macaque will force himself to go into civilization so he can get Wukong NICE paints.
Wukong when he wants to, likes to make new deserts and snack recipes. He has Macaque try all of them so he has a tester. Macaque likes the free snacks.
Wukong likes doing makeup so when Macaque lets him he’ll try new looks on Macaque.
Macaque CLINGS onto Wukong at parties. He doesn’t want to be there or talk to anyone so he sticks with Wukong.
Macaque once made Wukong cry when he tried joking with him when he was overstimulated. He IMMEDIATELY felt bad and still hasn’t forgot about it. (This actually happened to me)
Macaque fell first AND harder.
Wukong likes to bite. Not hard but he likes to just nibble. Macaque likes it WAY too much. He’s a freak.
Macaque doesn’t like fireworks because of how loud they are. Wukong won’t set fireworks off when Macaque is on the mountain.
They have drawing sessions together.

Tang stares at Pigsy when he cooks. There’s something so mesmerizing about his husband just cooking peacefully. He’d genuinely rather watch Pigsy than any tv show.
Pigs nuzzle to show affection. That’s why Pigsy and Tang nuzzle so much.
Pigsy has a wedding ring but he doesn’t keep it on when he cooks. Tang WILL NOT take it off. He bagged Pigsy and will not stop showing it.
They like to watch cheesy rom coms together. They laugh at them and then fall asleep on the couch.
Tang is surprisingly REALLY jealous. Not in a TikTok dark romance way, more like a whiny baby way. He knows Pigsy isn’t going to cheat on him cause he trusts him so much but it bothers him if a customer gets to close for his comfort. Pigsy isn’t jealous at all. Like no jealous bone in his body. You could hit on Tang right in front of him and he knows Tang would freak out more.
Pigsy was a MUCH more strict parent. Tang is a VERY played back dad.
Tang didn’t know how to express affection when he and Pigsy started dating so he just spoiled him with gifts.
They are a very old married couple. They lay in bed at night in their pjs. Tang reads Jttw while Pigsy watches Chang’es cooking show.
Tang comes up with the CHEESIEST pickup lines and Pigsy still loves him for some reason.
They like to tease and annoy each other but they love each other.

Redson straightens his hair a lot so most people don’t see his curly hair. Mk LOVES Redsons curly hair and BEGS him not to straighten it.
Redson doesn’t like to share his food but she’ll give Mk just a little bit if he asks.
Mk basically lays on top of Redson when they’re in bed during the winter. Redson is basically a free heater.
Redson is Mk’s muse. He draws him constantly but he’s to shy to show her.
Mk tries to show off for Redson when they’re at the arcade. He’ll try and impress him by getting a slam dunk but the ball rick a shays off the backboard and hits him.
Redson is sensitive to touch because they’re afraid that their fire will burn people. When they start dating Mk wears more layers + fire proof gloves so that he can be all up on Red.
While rain makes Redsons hair go flat and straight, rain doesn’t hurt him. Mk INSISTS on making sure he’s ALWAYS under an umbrella so that she doesn’t get wet. Redson won’t admit it but she finds it sweet.
Redson likes to cook, a hobby he got from DBK and Wukong, so he makes Mk food as a sign of affection.
Redson has a 15 steps hair and skin routine. Mk puts on his headband and leaves the house. The man’s skin is like sandpaper.
Both like horror movies but BOTH get scared at the jump scares.

Mei sends Redson all kinds of videos about cute animals. Redson once replied with a heart and Mei fell in love.
Mei would say “Sorry guys, I gotta get home to the wife!” And then go see Redson.
Mei’s parents LOVE Redson. Whenever she comes home they ask where Red is.
Mei spoils Redson with gifts. It’s her love language. Redson tries to do out in return but Mei won’t let him.
The two like to race. They race along beaches or deserted roads. It’s bonding time for them.
Redson fell first, Mei fell harder.
Redson gets up earlier to complete their routines and start work. You’ll be lucky to see Mei before 11 am.
Both are judgy as HELL. They shit talk anyone who dares to walk by.
Mei types using emojis, Redson uses :( :/ :o
Mei will use ANY opportunity to talk about how her and Redson got together.
Chimera:
Tumblr media
Mei sleeps on the left, Redsons in the middle, Mk is on the right. They make one big cuddle pile.
Mei and Mk are SUPER clingy. Redson DOES not get work when they both wake up.
They all have movie nights. Trashy rom coms, horror, tragedy’s. They watch them all.
Mk has perfected Mei and Redsons coffee orders.
They started a plushie collection. Any time anyone wins or buys a plushie, it goes in the collection.
Mk and Mei wear boxers and t shirts to bed. Redson wears one of those big frilly robes to sleep.
Mk and Mei like to mess around with Redsons hair cause it’s so much longer than theirs.
When Mei is experimental with her style, Mk and Redson are supportive.
Mei and Redson hang up Mks drawings of them.
“What do you see in those two?” “They make me laugh.”
I finished writing these at 1 am. I have school. What am I doing.

For the adopted Bai He idea, I just imagined-
Tang, back from a work trip with a baby Bai He: "..."
Pigsy, holding a toddler Qi Xiaotian: "..."
Freenoodles: "What the F-"
I'm just imagining them separately finding these children and forgetting to tell their husband only to find that their husband also forgot to tell them about the kid that they found.
Both are just mortified... and accepting of the situation.
Oh gosh, imagine Tang was away on something for college or work, and on his way back he just sees this unremarkable box in the middle of the rainy street, with noises coming out of it. He runs up, thinking it's kittens or puppies that have been abandoned.
He sees a newborn baby girl, crying weakly and completely alone.
Tang ofc panics(!!!). China has a infamous history of families dumping baby girls, something that has become thankfully rare at the time of Megapolis. Tang has no idea what to do - he just grabs the baby and just books it to Pigsy's restaurant, almost flying in his haste.
And when he ducks into the warmth of his love's kitchen, he's equally startled to see; not only Pigsy awake, but tending to an equally rain-soaked toddler...
Tang and Pigsy decide it simply isn't a coincidence - whats the luck of find *two* unrelated abandoned babies in the same night, in the same city? Maybe their parent(s) dumped them both?
The resulting call to protective services and paperwork is a nightmare obvs - the toddler only seems to know his name (Xiaotian) and nothing else, and neither child appears in to have a genetic match in the DNA database. The newborn girl has no name, Tang only remebers that her baby blanket had white lillies on it.
It's during all this chaos that Pigsy and Tang look at one another and decide silently; "This is a sign. It's fate sending us children we might not be able to have." And so the adoption process for both little kids begins.
Of course depending on their relationship status at the time, Pigsy and Tang *might* need to quickly marry to keep the kids together/present themselves as suitable parents.
Pigsy's Grandmother aka "Zumu [grandma]" is super delighted either way to hear that her xiaozhu [piglet] and his beloved have given her two beautiful great-grandbabies! The moment she meets Xiaotian (or "MK" as Pigsy as nicknamed him for the only word he seems to say), she scoops him up into a tight, warm grandma hug - the little boy ethusicasically hugs back, giggling all the way.
From the shadows of the city, a pair of birds - one golden like the sun, the other dark as night - separatley watch the new parents with cautious curiosity. They both hope that they made the right choice.

If I Fail You
Zhu Li Na is four months old when the cracks in the universe return, so it looks like it's time for baby's first Collect-A-Thon to Save the Universe! Surely nothing will go wrong!!! (Season 5 Rewrite adding in freenoodles fan kid Zhu Li Na + diving deeper into the mentality/mental health of certain characters)
Chapter 1: Watching Him Fade Away
Pigsy notices his son is starting to crack, but it's hard caring for a monkey-demi-god-kinda-regular-god and a four-month-old. But nevertheless, Pigsy tries.
Chapter 1 Chapter 2
Ao3 Link
Doodles !!!
MK was a very, very good big brother.
He was over at Pigsy and Tang’s as frequently as Sandy, always helping out and playing and cuddling and changing and cleaning and taking care of the little piglet as much as possible whenever he wasn’t training with Monkey King.
Pigsy hadn’t minded the extra help at first. It was nice to have his son and daughter bond and who was he to refuse an extra pair of hands when he was this tired all the time? Plus, Tang had to go to work, and so the help was certainly needed at times.
But something was… off with his son. Of course, something had been off for months now, but whatever it was it was clearly getting far worse as he was gaining circles under his eyes so dark they were supposed to be reserved for new parents. He was also adamantly in denial of the whole thing, as any time Pigsy tried talking to him about sleep or stress, he jumped right up and suddenly remembered a task he had procrastinated and dashed off.
A part of Pigsy worried MK had been lying about accepting all this change– that he didn’t like his room being taken, or that he even didn’t like Li Na. Another part of him told him that was ridiculous, as MK seemed genuinely happy to help her whenever he could. Another, deeper part of him wondered if MK had been like this for months, but Pigsy just hadn’t noticed, too busy dealing with the pregnancy and NICU. A more optimistic part said maybe the couch wasn’t as comfortable to sleep on as it used to be, and he should encourage the kid to go back to sleeping at his place.
But that could easily make him feel worse, right? Pigsy worked to make sure MK knew he still had a place in his home, he didn't want the kid to think he suddenly flipped a switch on him. He needed to know he could still rely on Pigsy, even if he was a lot busier these days.
It didn't help that no matter what progress Pigsy felt he made, it felt like he was back at level zero every time MK returned from training.
He needed to think up a plan, and quick– or else risk MK losing his mind.
Of course, it was hard to plan with a four-month-old in constant need of attention, but you know.
“If the problem is a lack of sleep, bringing MK back to his own place and away from a screaming baby would certainly be for the best,” Sandy suggested, finishing buttoning up Li Na's onesie after a change.
“Yeah, I know, I know– but I don't want ‘im thinking I'm shoving him out, you know? I want ‘im to know he can always come to me for help,” Pigsy sighed, folding some of her laundry.
“Have a little faith in the kid; he knows you love him, he's said so himself.” Sandy picked Li Na up, though she cooed and reached away to Pigsy.
“I–... I dunno… he's real sleep deprived– you know how thoughts can get,” Pigsy scratched his neck.
“Then remind him,” Sandy gave a soft smile. “Tell him you're concerned and be honest about why.”
Pigsy looked away. “Eh… me and honesty don't really get along well, what with sayin’ I wasn't the kid's dad to his face and all for twenty years…”
“Are you sure that was honesty and not insecurity?” Sandy raised an eyebrow as Li Na began to whine.
Pigsy sighed, taking his daughter back in his arms. She immediately cooed happily, which made the elder pig demon chuckle a little. “I guess you might be right… but still, I just– I'm not good at this. Not really.”
“I don't know, Li Na seems to think you're doing just fine.” Sandy winked, making Pigsy roll his eyes and blush slightly.
His friend laughed. “Just trust your instincts, Pigsy. You've always been good when you listen to your heart.”
Pigsy snorted, but didn't have a good rebuttal. Especially because Li Na did seem plenty happy, reaching for the buttons on Pigsy's shirt with glee.
The thought occurred to Pigsy that maybe Sandy ought to be the one to talk to MK since he was so good at it. Before he could suggest it though, there was a massive woosh throughout the apartment announcing MK's arrival from training.
“You want me to head out for some groceries?” Sandy offered, but Pigsy shook his head.
“I think it'll be good if just the two– er, three– of us head out for a bit,” Pigsy suggested.
“That sounds like a wonderful idea, Pigsy.” Sandy smiled at him all bright and corny, which made him roll his eyes again as he exited the nursery.
Not to his surprise, Pigsy found MK in the kitchen wiping down the countertops with extreme vigor, acting like each little crumb and blotch was the Lady Bone Demon and needed to be wiped off this plane of existence asap. It might have been funny if it weren't for the stress and exhaustion weighing in his eyes.
“Hey, kid. You– uh… feeling okay?” Pigsy asked.
“Pigsy–! Hi! How're you doing?” MK shot up from the counter with a forced grin.
“I asked you first.” Pigsy raised an eyebrow, shifting Li Na to an upright position so her head was against his shoulder.
“O-oh! Right! Yeah, I'm all good man! Never felt better!” His son gave an even bigger smile and thumbs up for emphasis.
Pigsy frowned. “Kid, when was the last time you slept?”
“Bah, sleep is for the weak.” MK tried to wave off. “How's Li Na? When's the last time she slept?”
Pigsy gave an unamused look. “Kid, I know what you're trying to do and it ain't gonna work.”
“What? Being helpful? I'm hurt.” MK put his hand over his chest dramatically, before scrubbing the counters again.
Pigsy rolled his eyes. “Li Na is fine, MK. It's you I'm worried about.”
“I told you, I'm fine! Never felt better!” His son insisted, tossing out the cleaning wipe.
Pigsy growled in frustration, causing the piglet in his arms to whine, sensing his distress.
“Oh–! Hey, I can take her if she's not feeling okay! Or I can get her formula started or her diaper changed or–”
“MK, she doesn't need any of that–” Pigsy took a breath to try and calm himself while rubbing Li Na's back. “Just tell me what's wrong… please.”
MK's smile faltered. “A-are you sure you don't need anything? I can clean up around here or wash the van o-or even cook dinner, if you need.”
Pigsy sighed, closing his eyes for a moment, before remembering his idea from earlier. “You know what? Let's go check on the restaurant. See how it's holding up.”
That worked to snap MK out of his spiral, as he froze and tilted his head. “Really? Why? You're not gonna open it for another four months.”
Pigsy shrugged. “Fresh air'll do us good. Plus, I wanna make a proper meal on a proper stove, and I think my old cookbook is still over there.”
“Oh– Okay! I can get the ca–”
“I'll get the carrier and bag. You can take Li Na,” Pigsy decided instead.
MK seemed confused again, but accepted the now smiling infant into his arms. “Hey kiddo, you having fun?” he asked, scrunching his nose. “We're gonna go to the restaurant soon. That's where you were born! It's also my favorite place on earth, so it'll be super fun.”
Pigsy chuckled, shaking his head before going back into the nursery to get the same well-loved carrier he had used years and years and years before with MK.
“So..? How's it going so far?” Sandy asked, startling the pig who had forgotten he was there.
“We're gonna go for a walk, get some fresh air… though if you wanna take over, be my guest,” Pigsy half-joked.
Sandy gave him a pitiful smile. “You got this, Pigsy. Just open up a little bit and you'll be golden.”
The chef rolled his eyes. “Yeah, just text Tang where we are so he doesn't think we're being kidnapped or somethin’.” He snorted before  finding the diaper bag and throwing a few things in.
He had to dig a bit through the closet before he found his old baby carrier, with a well-worn scrapbook sitting right underneath.
The chef couldn't help but smile a little as he picked it up and started flipping through. At the time he'd thought it was corny, that he wasn't MK's dad so there wasn't a point. However, his grandmother (and eventually Tang) insisted it was just to preserve good memories, and Pigsy couldn't have been more grateful.
His heart ached with happiness and joy as he saw old photos of MK's chubby face, with fistfuls of noodles and a face covered in sauce. It had been a long, long time since he'd seen that face, so full of joy and nativity. No past, no future, just in the present focused on gorging himself on noodles.
“Found something?” Sandy asked, peeking over Pigsy's shoulder.
“Just an old scrapbook,” Pigsy chuckled before shutting it carefully.
“Oh? I thought you weren't the ‘nostalgic type’.” Sandy grinned cheekily, quoting Pigsy from twenty five years ago.
“Yeah, yeah, shut up,” Pigsy huffed and stood up, pausing when he realized he was still holding the book in his hands.
…He wasn't exactly sure why, but he slipped it into the diaper bag too.
“Text me if you end up needing anything,” Sandy said, not commenting on Pigsy's impulse decision.
“Yeah, yeah. Get some sleep while you can,” Pigsy gave his friend a short crooked smile.
Sandy laughed. “I sleep plenty fine on my boat, Pigsy.”
“With all those cats? Sure.” The chef retorted. “I should be back in an hour or so.”
“I'll hold the fort down. Have fun.” Sandy gave a salute, making Pigsy huff in amusement before heading back out to the living room, where MK was bouncing Li Na in a mix of exhaustion and worry.
“C'mon, Li Na, it's okay, h-he'll be back soon, it's okay, you're okay, you're– Pigsy! She started whining and I-I think I'm messing it up, she won't–”
“Hey, hey, it's okay, kid, it's okay.” Pigsy immediately set the carrier and diaper bag on the couch, rushing to his son's side and placing a hand on his back. “You're okay, kid, just relax.”
“No, she wants you, she doesn't want me, I-I'm all messed up– take her back, please.” MK's resolve was starting to crack.
“Hey, MK, it's okay, you're okay, just take a breath for me, alright?” Pigsy placed a calm and firm hand on his chest, taking a slow breath MK eventually copied.
“Th-thanks, Pigsy.” MK sniffled, trying to bounce the still squirming piglet.
Pigsy's chest ached with worry for both of them, but he shook it off for a moment. “I'm gonna get the carrier on, and then we'll go for a walk, alright?”
“Yeah, that’s good.” MK nodded, small tears forming in his eyes.
Pigsy bit his cheek, but knew the best thing would be to just move on for now. And so, he quickly got the baby carrier on, putting it into front-inward carry mode, and placed Li Na inside, who relaxed as soon as her chest was against his.
MK just stood there, watching at first before looking at the ground with his hands in his hoodie. His eyes were shining with tears, and his head was slowly sinking further and further down.
It was something MK did a lot as a kid, especially on days he wanted nothing more than to just disappear. It made Pigsy want to cry, but the chef toughed it out.
“C'mon, let's get some air.” He gave a mostly-not-forced smile and patted his son's shoulder.
The boy nodded, clearly swallowing his tears before he suddenly moved, picking up the diaper bag and opening the door.
“Dads-ies first.” MK cracked a mostly-forced smile that made Pigsy's heart twinge.
“Thanks, kiddo.” He patted his arm again, and the three of them headed out into the night.
The chef instantly felt more relaxed the second the late evening air hit his face, but he could tell it made MK more than a little anxious. Pigsy nudged the kid before taking a deep breath, implying for him to do the same. MK did, his shoulders loosening a little, but his eyes stayed glued to the ground.
“You know– it’s– uh… it’s hard to believe it’s been four months, you know? Since she was born,” Pigsy tried lightening the mood.
“Y-yeah! Man, time does fly, doesn’t it?” MK gave a weak laugh, one hand briefly leaving his pocket to scratch his neck before going right back.
“Oh yeah. Sometimes I can hardly believe you’re in your twenties and not still goin’ to school,” Pigsy snorted.
MK laughed a little less at that. “Yeah, it’s… yeah.”
Pigsy winced as they stopped at a crosswalk. “It’s… hard to imagine one day Li Na’ll be in her twenties, all grown up and probably helping you fight whatever monster’s attacking the city that week.”
“I thought you don’t want her fighting?” MK raised a somewhat playful eyebrow.
“MK, I’m still not jazzed about you fighting,” Pigsy chuckled. “But… if that’s how it’s gonna be, that’s how it’s gonna be.”
MK looked forward. “Right. Because ‘destiny’ and all that.”
“What? No–ugh, I’m putting a household ban on that word.” Pigsy shook his head. “I mean because– I– you know– with the whole–”
“Light’s green,” MK interrupted and immediately started walking again.
Pigsy sighed, making Li Na shift so the chef put a hand on her tiny head. “I’ve got my work cut out for me tonight, don’t I kiddo?” he asked in a low voice, to which Li Na just cooed tiredly. The chef chuckled and gave her a soft pat before walking again.
Just listen to your heart, Pigsy, just like Sandy said to. Sure, you’ve screwed this up before just about a million times, but Sandy is usually right about these things anyways so– just– try. For MK.
“So– um… you feeling hungry at all?” Pigsy ventured, deciding to steer clear of the d-word.
“Eh, not really.” MK half shrugged.
Pigsy eyed MK for a moment, looking him up and down and checking for his usual hunger ticks. “Let me rephrase that; when was the last time you ate?”
“Pigsy, I’m okay, really, I just–” MK tried to lie, but seemed to remember he’d already been caught earlier. “Training was just hard today.”
Pigsy’s brows knit together. “What do you mean?”
“No! Not like that, I don’t mean it like that– I just– you know–! The more powerful I-I get the more he works me, which is good! Monkey King isn’t bad, it’s all just– it’s fine, I’m fine, let’s just go back home.” MK almost turned around, but Pigsy grabbed his arm.
“Kid, I know I’ve been… a little hard on him in the past, but I know he’s helpin’ you in ways I can’t, so it’s okay,” The chef gave a weak smile. It seemed to help the kid genuinely relax a bit, making the chef’s smile grow. “Besides, he did help save your sister’s life, so I know he ain’t all ‘irresponsibility’.”
MK let out a genuine laugh. “Of course him saving your life doesn’t count for anything.”
Pigsy rolled his eyes. “Yeah, yeah, he’s saved me too, I guess, whatever.”
“And he’s saved mine,” MK pointed out with a smug grin.
“Eh, I’d say at this point the score of ‘saved your life’ versus ‘actively put it in danger’ is about even,” Pigsy pushed back playfully, and his son let out another laugh.
“Yeah, whatever,” The kid shook his head with a chuckle, and all that laughter made Li Na let out laughs of her own.
“Well, look who’s deciding to join all the fun,” Pigsy teased her a little. “What do you think? You like that Monkey King guy?”
Li Na laughed again, making her brother grin. “You know, I think that counts as a ‘yes’.”
“Bah, she’s four months old, what does she know?” Pigsy waved off.
“Nah, I think she’s got it just right.” MK winked and booped her snout, making her scrunch up her nose and smile big, which MK copied, just as they came to another crosswalk that was thankfully green, and then it was “restaurant, sweet restaurant”.
“Look, Li Na! It’s the best restaurant in all of China,” MK grinned as he fished out the keys from the bag, meanwhile, Pigsy soaked in the quiet warm feeling of seeing his third biggest pride and joy in person again after four months away. Of course, it also brought back memories of the absolute pain and terror he felt when last there, but there was also plenty of joy and love, so Pigsy was doing just fine.
As was MK, evidently, as he lifted the security shield and flicked the lights on with delight before zipping to punch in the alarm code at a pace physically impossible for the old chef. Instead, Pigsy took his time letting all the memories soak in (though was certainly thankful all of the… “mess” had been cleaned shortly after going to the hospital).
“Ahhh, it’s good to be back Pigsy.” MK came out from the back with a grin. “So, what’re we going to make? We gonna go for the longest noodle record again? Ooo– wait! What about the thickest noodle?! You haven’t done that yet, have you?” MK’s more manic energy came out yet again.
“Woah kiddo, let’s settle down a bit first, alright?” Pigsy said lightheartedly.
“Ahhh, c’mon! It’s why we came here! Revisit some memories, get cooking, and have a totally cool and awesome time for Li Na’s first visit– er… I guess first ‘return’ to the restaurant since she was born here.” MK tapped his chin.
“Right, yeah, that’s true, but– I mean– there’s also– you know–” Pigsy hesitated again, cursing himself for stumbling over his words again.
MK tilted his head. “You feeling okay, Pigsy?”
“Are you?” Pigsy immediately snarked back, though immediately wished he hadn’t (the cursing in his head growing louder).
MK’s eyes glanced around the restaurant as he slowly made his way to the bar and sat on a stool before picking at the grout. “I-I mean– I’m okay, if that’s what you’re asking. I-I just–...”
Pigsy blinked, surprised his screw-up wasn’t backfiring. Scared he’d find a way to ruin it though, he quietly and carefully approached the bar, giving MK an analytic up and down.
MK glanced his way, noticing the look and shrinking down. “I… I can’t sleep. Every time I do, I-I just– I-I–” The kid suddenly froze, eyes glazed over with a distant look of shame and terror before he desperately tried shaking it away.
“Hey, it’s okay, it’s okay– stay with me, kiddo,” Pigsy tried his best to soothe, placing a free hand on MK’s shoulder and squeezing it tight. He could feel MK wanting to resist, but Pigsy held on tight, and eventually his son leaned into his shoulder.
“I-I’m so tired, Dad. I just wanna sleep, but– I-I have to keep working– I have to keep training, I have to.” MK sniffled.
“MK, it’s okay to take breaks sometimes,” Pigsy urged, wrapping an arm around his shoulders and giving them a squeeze.
MK shook his head. “E-even if I didn’t need to, I still can’t– it just doesn’t stop…”
Pigsy nodded slowly, not entirely surprised he was finally displaying symptoms of PTSD, or whatever Sandy called it– dammit, it really should be Sandy instead of him– why did Pigsy think he could do this on his own? Always so stupid–
No. If MK needed help getting to sleep, Pigsy knew how to get him to sleep– just use the same trick from when he was a kid. And who knows? Maybe with some luck, Pigsy could get a meaningful lesson in there too.
He could do this. He just needed to listen to his gut.
“I’m sorry sleep’s skipping out on you, kid,” the chef started, giving him another squeeze. “But since we’re all up and here, why don’t we give Li Na her first cooking lesson?”
A light sparked in MK’s eyes. “Really? You want me to help?”
“‘Course I do. You’ve run this place on your own a few times already, and she needs to know all the tips and tricks.” Pigsy winked, going behind the bar. “Although the dish we’re making tonight ain’t on the menu.”
“Huh? Why?” MK tilted his head and followed.
Pigsy shrugged. “Consider it a ‘double lesson’.”
“Ooo! Like a noodle master and his proteges,” MK grinned again.
“Sure,” Pigsy snorted, finding his old cook book and flipping to the particular Lanzhou Beef Noodle Soup recipe he had in mind.
“You sure Li Na’s gonna be able to stay awake for the whole lesson though? She’s already looking so sleepy to me,” MK cooed over the somewhat droopy-looking infant.
Pigsy chuckled, patting her head again. “She’ll be just fine; us Zhu’s can practically cook in our sleep.”
“I made instant ramen once in my sleep, does that count?” MK joked.
As much as Pigsy hated that garbage, he nodded sagely. “No doubt about it.”
That seemed to strike MK, as his joking smile twisted in surprise, before he shook himself out of it.
“R-right– well, um– I’ll get started on the dough,” MK forced a more casual smile before zipping off to the back again.
Pigsy bit his cheek, looking down at Li Na and silently wondering if that all was a good sign or not. The infant just blinked and smiled back tiredly.
“You know, you’re a lot like your brother when he was a kid,” Pigsy smiled tiredly and kissed her forehead. She cooed a tired response before nuzzling her face into Pigsy's chest.
Shortly after she did, MK came out from the back with all the stuff needed to make the noodles piled high in his arms. He managed to set it down just fine though; probably due to the kid’s super strength.
“Alright, I’ll get started on the dough if you get started on the chicken and beef?” Pigsy proposed.
“On it.” MK grinned, and Pigsy hummed happily as the two of them got to work.
Pigsy immediately started talking Li Na through the process of making noodles, despite her immediately falling asleep at the likely familiar sounds of sizzling meat and boiling pots. MK of course chimed in whenever he could, whether with a joke or with how he liked to do it versus how Pigsy did it. A part of Pigsy wondered if the kid knew his sister was asleep, but even if he didn’t, Pigsy wouldn’t dare say a word. After all, he was having fun, and that plus the sleep he’d get tonight would make him start feeling better in no time. Not completely fixed, of course, but better. And MK needed better.
It was dark out by the time they were wrapping everything up, and while MK was babbling about this one customer he had to serve, Li Na was starting to stir once again. Pigsy immediately started to sway as he stirred to try and keep her wake-up calm so MK wouldn’t worry, but babies are babies and soon enough a cry broke out.
“Seriously! A whole avocado! Who doe– Li Na–!” MK dropped everything to run to his dad’s side. “Is she okay? What’s wrong?”
“She’s okay, she’s okay, she just woke up from her little bed time nap, didn’t you?” Pigsy tried assuring the both of them, but Li Na must’ve been tired of the carrier as she started wriggling in frustration.
“Okay, okay, I hear you kiddo, just hold on a sec, okay?” Pigsy told her before looking at MK. “How’s about you do the finishing touches and I get her settled, alright?”
“O-Okay, yeah, I-I can manage.” MK chewed his cheek but tried to smile.
“Everything’s under control. Don't worry, MK.” Pigsy placed a hand on his arm again and gave it a squeeze.
“Right, yeah. On it, boss.” MK nodded to himself and went to the pot, giving Pigsy enough confidence to make his way to the bar where he finally freed his agitated piglet from her prison.
“There you go, it's okay, you're okay,” Pigsy shushed, carefully holding her in one arm and setting the carrier down with the other.
Li Na still continued to fuss though, threatening to wail as she kicked and failed her arms. Pigsy bit his cheek, trying to rock her but she kept trying to push him away.
“Kid, it's okay, I'm just trying to help you, just let me help you,” Pigsy pleaded with her, trying to bring her back to his chest but that only made her angrier as the wailing began.
Pigsy winced, trying to rock her instead, but that wasn't working either. She just kept crying and crying and crying, her face turning bright red and scrunched up. He tried digging through the diaper bag for something to help, but with how much squirming she was doing it was hard to be efficient with one arm.
“C'mon, it's okay, you're okay,” the chef whispered, desperate to not stress MK out even more than he already was.
God, this was such a mess. Sandy would've had it all figured out by now– he could read Li Na like a book, and he could help MK actually talk about his feelings. All Pigsy could do was bury his own feelings deep down and hope his kids didn't do the same. No wonder MK was like this, Pigsy was an exhausted mess too– he couldn't help anyone like this– he–
“Here, I got her formula for you.” MK suddenly appeared in front of Pigsy with a bottle in hand, startling the chef who needed a moment to comprehend.
“I– uh– thank you,” Pigsy took it with hesitation, unsure if it would work. However, the second the bottle reached the infant's lips she started chugging away.
Pigsy cursed himself internally for not even considering that could be the issue.
“Thanks, kid. How'd you know?” Pigsy asked tiredly.
MK shrugged. “She had that kinda clicky sound when she cried, and she only does that when she's hungry. I think it's because her tongue is in position for the bottle or something, I dunno.”
“Oh, yeah, I– uh– I guess she does,” Pigsy looked at her, shame weighing heavy in his chest.
“A-anyways– um– soups on,” MK gave a big nervous smile.
“Right, yeah. Back to our cooking lesson,” Pigsy forced a weak one back.
Taking a breath to ground himself, Pigsy got up and started making his way back to the counter. “You see, Li Na, the thing about good food is when you make it just right– the flavor, the feelin’– it all just comes rushing back to you,” Pigsy couldn't help but smile a little, thinking back to the last time he held MK in his arms in this very kitchen. If you do it just right, Li Na, it's more than ‘just food’, you know what I'm saying?” Pigsy looked at MK too.
“Right! Yeah, Li Na, follow the recipe and it'll all be good,” MK patted his sister's head.
“Oh– well– no, I, um–” Pigsy glanced at the noodle dish, when he realized MK– if he was following the directions to a tee as he claimed– missed an ingredient, and did a taste test to confirm.
“Hmm… it's missin’ somethin’.... but what?” He teased his son a little, and panic quickly entered his eyes.
“Wh-what?! But I followed the recipe perfectly, right?” MK went to flip through the cookbook before Pigsy rolled his eyes and let him have his own taste.
Thankfully, that snapped MK out of fight-or-flight as he tasted it for a second before it must've clicked in his mind. He instantly stood upright and reached for the soy sauce.
“Ahhh,” Pigsy winked encouragingly. “See kid, it's not always about following the recipe like it's written; sometimes you gotta feel it.” The chef smiled softly at the piglet as MK got bowls down and poured servings for the two of them. “And when you do, it becomes more than just food: it's home.”
“Oughhhh, it's so good,” MK laughed, tiredly picking the bowl up like he was talking to it. “Wish Li Na could try some, man, it's delicious.”
Pigsy chuckled, noticing Li Na was done with her bottle and quickly moved to start burping her, towel already on his shoulder. “Can't say I'm surprised. When I found– er– when you–... when you were a kid, this was your favorite.” He smiled tiredly at the memory, thinking back to the scrapbook. “I don't know when you stopped likin’ it so much, but–... but it always helped you sleep, so I figured–”
A soft thud of MK resting his head against the bar, next to his bowl, made the chef chuckle. “Still works.”
MK mumbled something in his sleep, and Pigsy rubbed a hand across his back until a small smile crept on his son's face.
“Now for the hard part.” He cringed, thinking how he'd now have to carry both of his kids up the stairs to MK's room.
Welp. He had no one but himself to blame, so may as well get to it.
Pigsy worked quickly and efficiently, making sure Li Na was 100% satisfied and ready to go back in the carrier before he set it to “backpack mode” and placed her in. After that, he mentally prepared himself for how much his back was going to hurt in the morning, before scooping up his sleeping son and throwing him over his shoulder, trying his best to make sure no part of him was hitting Li Na.
Immediately, Pigsy knew this was a stupid idea and that he should just text Sandy or Tang to come over to help. Instead, Pigsy stubbornly trudged up the stairs and into MK's apartment before all but dropping him onto the bed, before he too practically collapsed and sat.
“You know… that… was a lot easier when you were little, kiddo.” Pigsy snorted.
MK didn't respond in the slightest, those noodles really knocking the living daylights out of him. It was good to finally see him relax and hopefully, with time, the dark circles around his eyes could disappear.
“Sorry I had to kinda trick you into sleeping, kiddo, but it's for your own good. You need to take care of yourself before you try and take care of me and your sister,” Pigsy chuckled a little as he heard Li Na coo behind him.
“Oh yeah, your brother's a real hard worker, missy. He needs his rest so we can't be staying long,” he told the infant, though wasn't really motivated to move.
He watched as MK's chest slowly raised and fell, over and over and over again in a rhythm that finally made Pigsy's own tense shoulders relax. He chuckled to himself as he instinctively reached and brushed his son's hair out of his eyes.
“I don't know how I ended up with you, but… I'm so glad I did,” he whispered. “I love you, son. Get some rest.”
Pigsy sat there for a while, softly stroking his son’s face and humming a lullaby out of habit. It seemed to help his son relax even more, a smile creeping on his resting face, making Pigsy feel like his heart could burst with pride and love. However, the chef knew he couldn’t stay forever, and so after finishing the song, he stood and turned off MK’s lights and left him to do as he was told.
Once outside, he let out a heavy, exhausted breath before going back to the restaurant where he took off the carrier and rearranged it to be front-facing once more.
“You have fun with your cooking lesson, kiddo?” Pigsy asked, adjusting the straps.
Li Na had no response, of course. Instead, she just watched her dad with big, curious eyes as he started gathering up all the baby supplies.
“Glad you liked it cuz there's plenty more where that came from,” he teased and slung the bag over his shoulder before he looked at all the bowls and food still out.
“Looks like we're coming back tomorrow anyways because I do not have the energy to clean all this up.” He snorted, which Li Na tried to copy.
Pigsy chuckled. “Nice one, kid. Now let's get you home.”
Li Na again attempted to snort, which Pigsy took as tired acceptance, so the two of them left the restaurant and headed homeward.
.o0o.
Despite Li Na waking up every two to three hours for food and changing, Pigsy actually felt somewhat at peace knowing his son was finally getting some rest. On top of that, Sandy was finally taking a day off as well, working on a “personal project” since it was Saturday. Tang didn't have work too, meaning he was home and relaxing as well. The only one not relaxing was Li Na, but she was still getting the hang of the “existing” thing, so it was fine. Besides, she was getting good at sleeping (much better than the previous three months), so he was relieved and proud nonetheless.
“You know, call me crazy, but I feel like we're actually starting to get the hang of this whole ‘baby parenting’ thing,” Tang joked, lifting Li Na in the air while he sat on the couch, making her squeal in delight.
“Compared to how we handled MK? Definitely,” Pigsy agreed as he repacked the diaper bag so they could go back and clean the restaurant.
“Oh, c'mon hon, that's not fair– he snuck up on us,” Tang pointed out, putting Li Naback down.
“Literally,” the chef snarked.
Tang rolled his eyes. “I don't know, I don't think we were terrible or anything– he's still alive, isn't he?”
“By a miracle.” Pigsy shook his head. “I still remember the beach incident.”
“Hey! That wasn't my fault! And in my defense, he's probably literally made of stone! And it's not like he was drowning or anything, I just–” The scholar got all red and flustered, making his daughter giggle. “You mock my pain, Li-Li.”
“Clever girl,” Pigsy smirked as his husband shot a dirty look.
“Well, if she's going to be like that then she doesn't get any more upies.” Tang stuck his nose up and Li Na's face fell.
“Tang…” Pigsy cautioned, noticing her face already beginning to twist and redden for a cry.
Tang looked back and noticed too, before immediately correcting his error and lifting her back into the air. “It's a good thing I'm not though, because you're such a cutie! Yes you are! Yes you are!” he said, lowering to kiss her cheek before raising her again and again.
Pigsy smirked and shook his head. “You're such a sap.”
“You are too! Yes he is, yes he is!” Tang fought back without stopping his little game.
The chef rolled his eyes. “Whatever. I'm all packed, we good to go now?”
“You know, I don't understand the purpose of taking MK all the way to the restaurant when you could've just made him food here,” Tang quipped, standing up and cradling his daughter, who was slightly less upset than before that their game had ended (though she did reach up at him with excited arms).
“It was for the lesson! Plus, kid needed to sleep in his own bed so he wouldn't be woken up by Li Na for once,” Pigsy pointed out, getting the carrier ready for Tang.
“You just wanted to check up on the place again, didn't you?” Tang raised a playful eyebrow.
“And if I did?” Pigsy dared his husband to question him as he handed the carrier off
Tang chuckled, kissing Pigsy's cheek as they swapped Li Na. “Big sap.”
“Oy,” Pigsy rolled his eyes yet again, bouncing Li Na a little as he did. “Can't a man have some peace in his own home?”
“I think even you should know by now the answer to that is ‘no’,” Tang snarked, clicking all the buckles.
“Yeah, yeah, whatever. Let's just get a move on.” Pigsy placed her in the carrier with her chest against Tang's, and this time Tang kissed him on the lips.
“Maybe you can whip me up a bowl of noodles while we're there too, hm?” he teased, his fingers tracing up Pigsy's shoulders flirtatiously.
“Freeloader,” Pigsy scoffed.
“My darling husband.” Tang batted his eyelashes.
“Yeah, yeah, let's try and get going before sundown,” Pigsy stopped the banter before they got too carried away, and so the couple (+ baby) headed downtown.
Of course, the walk wasn’t long since it was just the three blocks, but “somehow” Tang’s ankles were already hurting, so he “rested” by the bar and played with Li Na while Pigsy started cleaning on his own.
“You know, I’m kinda surprised you’ve been handling the whole ‘stay at home dad’ thing so well so far– I really thought by now you’d be itching to just open this place again– or at least be writhing with envy at the fact that Golden Hog’s open right now,” Tang pointed out, eyeing the window of the rival restaurant across the street.
“It’s nice to know you have confidence in me,” Pigsy huffed, scrubbing off some sauce from a bowl.
“Oh, come on– I’m allowed to make comments based on years of observation and learning now, aren’t I? Besides, it’s a compliment. You’re doing well,” Tang gave a small smile.
Pigsy just hummed a little, continuing his work.
“Then again, when you get to spend almost all day every day with this lil’ cutie, I can see why,” Tang scrunched his nose and took Li Na out of the carrier to cradle and bounce her.
“Yep, she’s my favorite little freeloader,” the chef teased, setting the dish on the drying rack.
Tang gasped in offense. “I’m wounded, Pigsy. You’ve wounded me.”
“Take it up with the baby, I’m sure she’d love to hear why you’re better than her.” Pigsy waved off, grabbing some more pots and spoons to clean.
“...Am I at least your favorite big freeloader?” Tang asked cautiously.
Pigsy laughed. “You’re ridiculous.”
“Wow. You did it. You wounded me again,” Tang sighed dramatically, which made Li Na laugh and reach at his scarf with excitement. “How can you live with yourself?”
“Knowing that this is payback for all of the many, many noodles I've cooked over the years,” Pigsy gave his husband a wink.
Tang stuttered to think of a comeback, but didn't manage to get one out before there was a loud squealing of tires outside and someone burst through the bamboo flap.
“Heyo my favorite-set-of-dads and niece-y! How's it hanging?” Mei grinned wide as she took off her motorcycle helmet.
“Mei! It's so good to see you,” Tang practically jumped to hug her with one arm.
“Yeah! What're you guys even doing here though? Aren't you staying closed for another two months?” Mei looked to the chef.
“I'm cleaning up from an impromptu late night meal I made last night for MK,” Pigsy explained casually.
“Oh, sick! He doing okay?” she asked, pulling up a stool next to where Tang sat again.
Pigsy's shoulders tensed a little before he shrugged. “He's resting now.”
“Oh, that's good. I noticed him being wayyyy more active on my late-night streams than he normally does. That's good.” Her eyes wandered back to the little four-month-old. “Omg–! Is this Li Na's first outing? That's so cool! I gotta take a photo!”
Pigsy paused. “Ah– well– actually she was with me last night–”
“Shushhushhushhushshhhh–  I'm taking photos.” Mei grinned, taking out her phone and snapping picture after picture of Li Na looking at her with her head tilted in confusion and curiosity.
Pigsy couldn't help but laugh and shake his head, putting the last few dishes on the drying rack before taking out one of his bigger pots and boiling water yet again.
Mei perked up. “Ooo, you cooking for Li Na too? That's so cute!”
“Nah, this is just to satisfy the freeloader, since Li Na's too young,” Pigsy sighed dramatically.
“Ah, right, can't make her sick in the tum-tum, got it.” Mei nodded wisely. “Though– uh– can that be for two freeloaders?” she asked, batting her eyelashes.
“You people are gonna be the death of me.” Pigsy shook his head as if he wasn't already planning to.
“Teehee,” Mei giggled, making Li Na giggle too. “Ough, she's just too cute! How do you people get anything done around her?!” Mei booped her snout.
“Lots of practice,” Tang laughed, offering to let Mei hold her, which she immediately accepted.
“Well, call me untrained because all I wanna do is play with this cutie patootie, yes I do, yes I do,” Mei grinned wide as she tickled Li Na with one hand, filling the restaurant with piglet squeals.
Pigsy couldn't help but smile as the restaurant came to life with cooking, chatter, and laughter as Tang and Mei caught up while keeping the piglet entertained. He could actually relax when it was like this, when he knew exactly where all his loved ones were and that they were safe and happy. He loved feeling like he could provide for them– that he could watch over and protect them. It was something of a scarce feeling these days, so Pigsy would soak it up while he could.
Pigsy was about half way through cooking a massive pot of zha jiang noodle soup, when there was a massive truck that parked just outside. At first, Pigsy worried that the delivery company forgot the restaurant was closed, but one glance outside revealed it was just Sandy with his new pet project.
“OMG! Sandy! And Mo!!!!! Hi Mo!!!!!” Mei ran out the door and waved, piglet still in arm and squinting and squirming at the sudden sunlight.
“Mei, don't run off with her,” Pigsy cautioned, not taking his eyes off of the bamboo he was slicing.
Thankfully, she heeded the warning, as Sandy came to them instead of vice versa.
“Wow! Nice surprise seeing you all here.” Sandy smiled big, Mo perched on his shoulder. “What's the occasion?”
“Clean up turned late lunch hangout,” Pigsy explained, adding the vegetables to the pot.
“And here I thought maybe you'd actually take a day to relax,” Sandy teased.
Mei laughed, sitting back down on her stool. “This is Piggy we're talking about– he wouldn't know relaxation if it hit him in the head.”
Pigsy scoffed, but let the insults come. He didn't feel like explaining the nuances of his hobby, and was perfectly content knowing they were having a good time trying to roast him anyway– or at least Mei was. Sandy and Tang moreso just laughed along. As for Li Na, she reached and grasped at Mei's jacket while oinking here and there before she started to grow tired.
By the time soup was up, Pigsy recognized she was on the verge of getting cranky, and so ordered Tang to take her before serving up everyone's meals.
“Wow, Pigsy, are you psychic or something? How'd you know to make enough for Sandy too?” Mei asked before eating a spoonful.
Pigsy shrugged. “I always make more than enough because I know a certain freeloader is gonna ask for more.” He shot Tang a dramatic look, to which his husband grinned. “Besides, I wanted to make enough for MK too in case he heard all the noise and decided to come down.”
“Oh yeah, he must be real conked out right now, huh?” Mei spat out bits of sauce.
“Must be.” Pigsy shrugged and handed her a napkin. “I should probably check on him soon.”
“Ah, MK's fine, Pigsy. He's just a very sleep-deprived adult. If he's resting, I say let him,” Tang waved off.
“Yeah, yeah, you're right, I'm just being paranoid,” Pigsy let out a tired sigh. “I think I'm in need of some sleep too.”
Sandy smiled at him pitifully. “I can help out at night too, you know.”
“Bah, you got your trucks and boats to work on,” Pigsy waved off and Mei immediately snickered.
“That's our Pigsy, ladies and gentlemen,” She clapped with a shit-eating grin.
“I can and will charge you for that bowl, Miss Dragon Heiress.” Pigsy squinted at her.
Mei squinted right back but said nothing, eating more.
Pigsy ate in smug satisfaction.
The “late lunch” ended up lasting hours, the gang all laughing and talking and taking care of Li Na and feeling normal together. Pigsy hadn't realized just how isolated and disconnected he felt being locked up in his apartment all day every day, but now that he was here it was like a breath of fresh air. If Pigsy could find a way to capture the moment in a bottle for him to access whenever, he would.
However, the longer it went on, the more… off Pigsy felt. Despite Sandy and Tang's assurances, he couldn't help but worry why MK hadn't wandered his way down yet. It was true MK had slept an entire 24 hours before, but something deep in Pigsy's gut told him something wasn't right. He tried to ignore it, especially whenever Li Na needed him, but it continued to nag at the back of his mind even as the conversation went outside to Sandy's new truck.
“OMG!!! It looks just like Mo! That's so cute, Sandy!” Mei admired the headlights and grill.
“My little guy does so much for me, it's the least I can do for him,” Sandy smiled softly, giving the cat a nice scratch on the chin.
Pigsy thought it was corny, but knew not to say anything. Instead, he kept on wiping down the counter near the outdoor bar, where Tang was eating his third bowl and wearing Li Na in the carrier.
“Omg-!! Is that a little kitty cat-patterned car seat?! That's so cute! We gotta get Li Na in it!” Mei beamed excitedly into the vehicle's windows.
Pigsy looked at the time. “Maybe later kiddo, we gotta start wrapping up soon.”
“Awww, I don't wanna go home. Home is lame and I want more delicious noodlessss,” Mei whined.
“I have some leftovers if you want em,” Pigsy offered, and Mei immediately grinned.
“Man, Dadsy, you're the best,” She gave an enthusiastic thumbs up. He responded with his own tired one that made Tang chuckle.
“You sure Li Na's our first daughter?” Tang smirked.
“Yeah, shut up.” Pigsy scrubbed harder to avoid the stupid look on his stupid husband's stupid face.
“You know, I got a feeling that this baby is built to last.” Sandy patted his handy work, andthat sense of unease in Pigsy went into complete overdrive right before a sword fell from the sky and right onto Sandy's truck before three louder crashes destroyed the carrier.
As if almost triggering a heart attack from the sheer volume and damage alone weren't enough, Pigsy could make out the familiar groans of pain from MK, making his heart sink into his stomach.
“MK?! What– are you okay?! What just happened?! Pigsy exclaimed, rushing out of the restaurant.
“Aha– we have to go.” MK hopped up just fine, though had a look of extreme panic on his face.
“Does that have anything to do with the fact that the ominous cracks are back in the sky?” Tang questioned, pointing up.
Oh god…
“It's okay! We got a plan!” Sun Wukong smiled and patted MK's back like it was no big deal (as per usual).
“Oh, do we, huh? We don’t even know if these magical pillar healing stones are real,” Macaque bit back, filling Pigsy with rage towards the Monkey King for the millionth time, especially when he realized all the noise had woken Li Na from her nap and she was starting to wail. Tang was handling it, of course, but it still was enough to make the elder pig demon growl.
“W-what if going after the stones is just another tricky plan by tricky plan demon– like this is exactly what they want? Wh–... what if we really just are chaos..?” MK paced with anxiety, and Pigsy wanted nothing more than to put a hand on his shoulder and tell him that whatever he was talking about, it was okay and they'd be fine.
However, Wukong beat him to it. “Listen bud, the only thing I know for sure is I don't trust anyone who isn't standing right here, right now.” He looked around the street, making Pigsy feel slightly bad for getting so angry at him.
Slightly.
“If those stones are important,” Wukong continued, “then the safest place for them to be is with us.”
“Uh… what?” Pigsy finally got the chance to ask just as a bunch of sigils appeared in the sky.
“It feels like we're still missing something important here,” Tang pointed out, looking at the sky while he tried patting Li Na's back to soothe her.
“Oh– Yeah! We're– uh– sorta on the run from the celestial realm,” MK confessed, scratching his neck.
“I'm sorry– what?!” Pigsy exclaimed.
“I-I can explain, but we really gotta get going,” MK urged.
“What?! But what about Li Na? She's only four months old!” Tang added, the parents sharing a worried look.
“Yeah, well too bad, she's an accomplice now, so let’s get a move on,” MK urged, and terror settled in its usual spot in Pigsy's stomach. Just then, celestial soldiers teleported down all around them in pillars of light, armed and ready for battle.
“Yep–! Go now, people! Now, now!” MK laughed nervously, grabbing Mei's arm as he looked for an exit.
“Yeah, you probably shouldn't have messed up Sandy's fancy-schmancy new truck,” Mei pointed to the wreckage, which MK seemed to just now notice.
“Oh-! A truck! Yes, I can make one,” MK quickly decided, twirling his staff around before he hit the ground. It caused a blast that thankfully pushed away the celestial armies while also making the remains of the truck turn into a proper and overcomplicated getaway vehicle.
“Okay-! Everybody in!” MK called, looking around as the soldiers readied to fight again.
Pigsy froze momentarily, unsure of who to help or how, when Tang grabbed his arm and started dragging him to the truck, his other hand covering Li Na's head.
Right– yes, Li Na was here– Li Na was in danger– MK could handle himself, but Li Na was just a baby– he'd be okay, MK would be okay, Li Na would not, not if he froze– not if he–
“Pigsy, come on,” Tang urged at the open door and Pigsy snapped out of his spiral to quickly shuffle inside, taking Li Na out of the carrier and into the car seat MK had thankfully thought to include just as Wukong let out a painful cry somehow louder than Li Na's.
“What on earth is going on around here?” Pigsy muttered, digging through the diaper bag for Li Na's blanket while Tang tried patting her chest to keep her calm.
“If the sky cracks are back, it can't be anything good.” Sandy gave his friend a somewhat grim look through the rear-view mirror.
“Great, okay, good, just great.” Tang’s eyes started twitching. “And here I thought maybe everything was okay for once and that we were having a good time but nope! No peace in this family, no siree, we’re monster magnets and we’re never going to know peace a day in our lives until we die and–” His rant was interrupted by Wukong and MK suddenly falling into the truck from a shadow portal.
The second they were in, Sandy shifted the vehicle into gear and floored it on out of there, MK sticking his head out of the window to look back at whatever fight was still happening with Macaque.
“H-He’ll make it out of there, right?” He looked at Wukong, whose eyes were distant with shock. “He always gets away… right?”
The king didn’t seem capable of answering.
“I’m sure he’ll be okay, kid. Macaque’s a tough one,” Pigsy tried to comfort, though was distracted by Li Na still wailing.
“R-right, yeah, he’ll–...” MK again glanced at his mentor, before just falling back into his seat and hanging his head back.
The kid somehow looked even more exhausted than before.
Pigsy finally found the quilt Sandy made for Li Na and gave it to her, stroking her cheek gently twice to maximize her comfort. After a bit of that, she was able to stop her shrieking, which was only a slight relief to all other passengers as now the car had a tense atmosphere of uncertainty and pain no one knew how to address.
Pigsy wasn’t surprised when Tang suddenly held his hand, and he gave it the strongest squeeze he could before reaching and placing a hand on MK’s shoulder, squeezing it too.
“We’ll figure this out, kid, I promise.” Pigsy forced a weak, but hopefully encouraging smile.
MK sniffled and put a hand over Pigsy’s. “God, I hope so.”
“Hey now, there’s nothin’ we can’t figure out as a team, alright? We got this,” the chef insisted, trying to sway both MK and himself as he did.
“Right… right, yeah, we got this… together?” MK smiled.
Pigsy nodded. “Together.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Shadowpeach:
He had found you when he was fighting a demon who was dumb enough to try and kidnap his master and apparently that very demon had the egg you’re currently in, so they decided to bring you along for safe keeping until you hatched.
(I’m deciding to do this in the past since I didn’t really have a way to put sun in a fight that much plus I thought it would be a good and fun idea.)
You had hatched soon after and imprinted on sun some time into the journey later, they couldn’t do anything about it so they decided to go to sun’s home. When they all finally arrived to sun’s kingdom; flower fruit mountain, they weren’t expecting another monkey like sun but black aesthetic to punch sun in the face making him drop little (Y/n) who landed safely on the ground confused on what’s happening and don’t know what to do.
It was Tripitaka who was able to cool down his disciple mate and explain to him that sun did not cheat on him but actually in reality saved the little one when they came across a mishap on their journey which lead to macaque getting embarrassed and softly apologized to sun, who didn’t really care just as long as his mate know he wouldn’t do something that terrible to him and added how macaque looked hot when he punched him.
You look at the other monkey who wasn’t your father and soon declared him as your mother by talking in their language, which you had somewhat swiftly picked up on the argument from pigsy and sun along with everyone in the group are speaking to each other.
Before y’all got to flower fruit mountain; pigsy and sun was having a argument in front of you while you sun bathe which annoyed you because all you wanted was sleep and they weren’t letting you so you did what you could only do and followed your instincts; which lead for them to have a face being hit by a plasma blast shot from you before you went back to sleep now finally able to have the quiet of it that you needed to do so.
They all soon agreed to one, never mention that again and two, to never fight in front of you even if you’re not sleeping yet, cause they don’t know what else you could do and don’t want to find out; for such a young hatchling you certainly have a powerful plasma blast that even the great sun wukong don’t won’t to face again.
Macaque soon grew attached to you and now saw you as his daughter and would only let Tripitaka, Sandy, sun, and bai long ma be near you, no pigsy as he speaks loudly and you’re usually asleep when he’s around and macaque don’t want you to go through the trouble of shutting pigsy up so he makes sure he doesn’t happen.
Dbk family:
Dbk had found you in a forest as he was just taking a walk to calm his nerves and decided that you would be a big surprise to his and pif anniversary.
He had kept you a secret for the most part with only redson knowing and doing normal check ups to make sure you’ll hatch all healthy.
You had soon hatched and quickly latched onto dbk, imprinting on him as your father and soon followed him wherever he went which was hard for him to keep you a secret but apparently not good enough.
Pif had soon found the hatchling, and thought the worst; she at first thought that she could just ask her husband about it but with how hormonal she’s gotten from her period she soon grew anxious about the outcome to that which lead to her growing angry with her husband.
(I don’t know if demons can have periods or something similar to it but let’s just go with it for the post.)
Dbk forgot that it was his wife hormonal week with how excited he was about his gift for their anniversary, it wasn’t until redson had point out that it was in fact her hormonal week.
When you noticed pif it was then that you made the conclusion that she was now your mother and started cuddling with her making her settled down with your purring before her husband was finally having a chance to explain about you.
Redson mostly spent his time studying you and also playing fetch with you; he studies you because he want to make sure that he can understand the things you need, like, and other things like that, one time he was drawing on the dirt ground of the garden they had before you came over and observing what he was doing before grabbing a big enough stick before drawing yourself, one you were done you felt proud of your work before noticing redson was going to step on it and started growling at him which made him lift his foot before doing it again and seeing it result in the same reaction to when he first went to put his foot down on a line of your drawing before going around the liners and ended up to you which you jumped on him and yelled brother with a proud and happy look on your face.
Freenoodles:
Pigsy was just getting ingredients for his food that he sells in his shop when he found you about to be kidnapped while you’re in your egg not even hatched yet, which being out his overprotective side out and make the culprit regret deciding to do that.
When tang first saw the egg he had many thoughts mostly logical but then he started going down the deeper and more anxious thoughts before asking pigsy why he has a egg in his hand softly with his head down.
Pigsy was worried about his husband reaction and noticed how his shoulders would shake a little, starting to panic he quickly explained how he had saved you from some kidnappers and decided to bring you back home with him so that the two could raise together like with how they did with mk.
Tang was relieved but made pigsy let him have free noodles from now on as a way to make up for scaring him like that; he somehow doesn’t know how to react to that but relented anyway to make it up to tang.
You hatched soon afterwards and imprinted on both of them. You would tear the seats that was in the shop which lead to tang having to always carrying you so you wouldn’t be able to do that or get a reason to do that.
Tang had accidentally bought catnip and was going to bring it back for a return but you seem to have got a hold of it and now was doing things similar to how cats do when they’re on this stuff.
Tang and pigsy noticed how you seem to be more like a cat and decided to see if you would do more cat stuff with toys, pushing stuff and other things like a cat would, but it wouldn’t be long before you started to grow human features, not much but just enough to make it show. Your wings had crashed into many things which lead to you being told to do that outside when it gets stiff, and of course to ask permission and make sure you bring someone that they know they can trust; like mk, sandy, redson when he visits for his boyfriend.
Waterspider/silktea:
You had meet him when you barely could open your eyes; he was searching for a missing cat that got lost and was close to where you were, apparently the cat wasn’t exactly lost but had sensed you and wanted to see what was what, which lead to him finding you hatching from your egg and eyes meeting resulting in you imprinting on him as your new father, plus finding the cat.
Huntsman was skeptical about you since you’re a dragon and are more damaging than a cat is but sandy won him over by saying how the two could teach you on how not to do things that would damage the boat or anything else along those line.
They took noticed on how you acted like a cat so they went from there with a few changes since you aren’t really a cat. They also got a laser just to see how you would react to it; never again are they using it as he has being chaos.
They see that you like fish and nothing more so they tried to get different fish for you so you wouldn’t get tired of it so fast which probably wouldn’t matter as that’s your species usual diet, but they do try to spice things up with ingredients that they knew you might like and wouldn’t harm you.
You then start growing more hum an features as you stay and live with them which was new since you only had dragon features before so they decided to meet up with mei to see if she possibly know why you suddenly stared growing human features.
She said maybe is was because of how long you stayed with the couple and started to gain characteristics from the two which would make sense now that they think about it. Then they left for home while saying goodbye to mei along with thanking her as well.
They started teaching you more human/demon like teachings and how to live in the city while keeping you close to them as a dragon demon is rare and only mei’s family and herself are the only ones they knew about so you might get kidnapped if the two weren’t careful about protecting you from people who would do that.
Greenflames (mei x mk):
Mei is the one who had found you since your egg was in her garden and she was just going for a little walk to past the time before her boyfriend would come over and tan sight of you in a field of small flowers of light colors; and with how your egg shell was a very noticeable color it was super easily to spot you, that had made her a little worried about any trespassers that would sometimes come to either sill something from them and if they spotted you before her, she wouldn’t know what to do of that thought as if wold bring some paranoia.
When mk’s girlfriend; mei, had shown you to him he at first didn’t know what to think as the thought of finding a dragon egg was both awesome and worrisome. Awesome because that would mean a new friend she you hatch and he can teach you a lot of things like a dad would, and worrisome as something terrible would have happened if mei didn’t find you first.
Since mei’s family is descendants to bai long ma the dragon horse that had accompanied Tripitaka and his disciples she pretty much was raised to know how to take and raise any kinds of dragons if that sort of scenario happened as weird as that is.
You had hatched a few weeks later after that and that brought a celebration in order; when they brought out a substitute for the cake you apparently blew fire in reson’s face on accident, good thing he’s fire resistant and a demon or else his face would of melt by that plasma blast that you threw at his face.
You like to swim in the pool that your new mother family own for fun, and sometime your parents would add some fish as well as change the water for you and the fish that you like to practice catching in.
They would grow protective as they both have a few possible enemies that would like to weaken them at any moment wether it’s to kill you or kidnap you; the enemy best hope it’s just kidnapping cause if anything happened to you while in the enemies hands then they are done for and not just by you, they would have mk and mei to deal with.
They would bring you to the gravity arcade a lot as it’s a fun place and thought you would have a blast and they would be able to teach you some moves on how to get prizes and tickets for the prizes and y’all would get to spend time together as a family would.
Spiderqueen:
Your egg had found it’s way into her lair and was resting in the other eggs not being found out about until you hatched from that egg. Syntax was the one in the area and so he quickly alerted his queen of this new discovery which she had found amusing very much.
She was glad of this knew discovery and was thinking this was some kind of sign of her finally getting what she always dreamed of; total control of this place and hopefully soon the world, and if that happened it would be the year of the spiders all the time then.
She likes how you have more color schemes to her as it seems almost like you were meant to be under your care than any other who would fully and foolishly miss the potential that you would gain as you grow to adulthood, which is why she usually have herself and her most trusted and only minions be the one to take care of you.
She wouldn’t let you go anywhere outside the lai in fear of losing you as she ha d grown to think of you as her own daughter and child and even then you have a tracker imbeddedinto you by syntax just in case something bad happened or if you decided to wander off forgetting you mother’s words.
If anything bad happened to you then she would make sure that the culprit regrets even thinking a lost dong that then turn around to scold your for forgetting to bring strong spider, huntsman and, and syntax and your bodyguard.
You would get everything that you would want as long as log as you’re patient and if it was in her capability to get it; she would even get the head of sun wukong if it was possible and when sh get stronger than before.
She was glad that she lived somewhat close to the ocean for yoyu to get your fish as that seem to be the species diet from what she and syntax could understand as they learn from watching you follow your instincts.
Nezhaa:
You were brought to the jade emperor who thought it was wise to give you to Newhart; who was skeptical at this outcome but ended up agreeing to the jade emperor’s orders as the jade emperor is in human terms his boss.
It was a new occurrence for him to have to watch both you and the map at the same time but he was able to get used to it some time later and since you wouldn’t be able to anything at this stage of your growth so he didn’t really have that much challenge from you.
But when you did hatch it certainly became difficult for him as you can be rowdy when bored and hungry, he was able to get some things from a store in the human realm over time that would cure your boredom and huinger thankfully.
He noticed that you hav characteristics form that of a cat so h decided to see if you would play with cat toys ;Ike a laser that he can control by hand and a mouse for you to play with while he’s busy at the moment.
You soon gain human features as you grow; finally being able to stand on two legs that look like a human rather than a dragon who would be on four legs usually though you seem to have still have dragon features that now m,Ames you a half dragon.
When you had used you plasma blast for the first time it was at him when you had became grumpy by him not being able to spend time with you; and with how you’re still young and very much playful he needs to entertain you but you don’t realize how big his responsibility is right now but he still tries to raise you.
If anyone tried to take you away from him then she will make it a very painful death, even if that person is of higher wing than him; he will make sure that it was some kind of accident musta to make sure he’s able to keep you as his daughter.
(A/n: i didn’t do them all the same because some i had already put down and then remembered about the request and some of them didn’t seem like they would do that sop I hopes that was ok and hope you liked what i did with it anyway😁 hope y’all liked it as well and hope y’all have a wonderful day/evening/night!!)
LMK season 2 episode 7:
Alright, this was one I was given an heads up on, shall see how this goes...
Oh shit it's the key guy! Shits about to go down...
You know, the "mayor" moves awfully mechanically... or even...puppet like
At this point I'm giving up and just shipping Tang and Pigsy, their ship name is literally FreeNoodles there is no downside here
Is this Macky?
I am *paying attention*
"It follows the tragic tale of a legendary warrior and how those that bring light into this world inevitably bring darkness to those they hold dear." I'm sure this isn't about either of the characters with "monkey" in their title
Okay Pigsy smiling like that over shushing Tang is really fucking funny
HE STOLE THEM USING THEIR SHADOWS????
Wow this shadow story totally isn't about Wukong and Macky, that's just silly
"The hero and the warrior were like the sun and the moon. Their light a protective glow shining upon the world. Together there was nothing that could stop the two of them either in the celestial realms or on earth. As time went on, the hero obtained power beyond compression. As the hero's light grew, so too did his shadow. Soon the warrior was cast in that shadow. In the darkness, the warrior was forgotten by the hero. " So clearly, he's got some abandonment issues
Also did not like how on the "cast in that shadow" a looming shadow figure that looked like the bone spirit was hanging over him
So I can see why Macky might have beef with MK
Aw, baby, MK is so insecure :(
Yeahhhh, probably not the best person to vent to... but he didn't know!
Macky, go to therapy. Talk to someone dude, work out your shit in a way that doesn't drag in teenage boys
Wait I'm a little bit confused. Is- is Macky doing this so MK doesn't push his friends away like Wukong did to him? Or am I having far too much good faith?
He did not actually! He realized they were gone and reached out to Mei trying to figure out what happened! Did he think they were *kidnapped*? No, but he's insecure, so he assumed they abandoned him!
I also think it's just you
Yeah, no he's got you there MK, you should have figured out it was him so much quicker than you did
"Somethings coming. Something you aren't even close to ready for. Don't worry. You can never have too many teachers. Right?" That's not ominous at all!
Alright, I feel like I just can't figure Macky out. What is his motivation here, who's side is he really on?
Okay so I'm gonna assume it's not truly on Lady Bone Demon's side, that doesn't seem like a willing or healthy partnership
Little Stars~Prolouge
I, Dovewing70/Moondrop39, do not own Lego Monkie Kid’s plot or its characters. I only own my original characters and the plot of this fanfic. Please support the original work!
This fanfic contains LGBTQ+ themes (such as Shadowpeach or Freenoodles), gore, smut, swearing, and a lot of angst. Reader discretion is advised.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The inky black expanse of the night sky plunged the world in its cold grasp, the mortal plane falling under the calm embrace of the shadows. The shadows being playfully pushed back by one single ethereal light of the night sky, the silver orb of the full moon illuminated a large flushed valley of flora and fauna. Large trees clung to the edges of the valley making the majority of it a large clearing. The clearing shone with white flowers, which under the silver light of the moon, illuminated the clearing with an ethereal glow of silver.
A soft breeze grazed among the flowers, pushing the flora into the westward direction of the breeze and allowing the soft rustling of the blades to push among one another. The breeze pushed among the trees and crawled amongst the rocks of the mountains, which acted as barriers among the valley. Soon the air buzzed with energy as a presence pushed from the edges of the valley to the beginning edges of the clearing full of flowers.
The creature stood at six feet tall with soft black fur clinging to its form as a red cape softly blew in the breeze. A bright yellow half long sleeve shirt overlapped over a black half long sleeve shirt which was stitched together as one. The bright yellow sleeve covered the right arm of the creature while the black fabric covered the left arm. A bronze armor vest with yellow and black lining around the neckline of the vest covered the chest of the creature, shining under the silver light of the moon. A long thin piece of black cloth wrapped the lower half of the creature, making a sort of belt to hold the lower half’s garments up. A pair of red pants covered the legs of the creature with a bronze armor covering the pants like a skirt with yellow lining along the armor’s edges. A pair of black shoes were tucked away within the long grass and white flowers.
The creature’s purple eyes gleamed in the moonlit night, its gaze turned upwards revealing a red feathered mask around its darkly tan skin. Two bushy black eyebrows crinkled into a disgruntled look as a thin line stood firm on the creature’s lips. Dark tan hands gripped tightly onto the edges of the belt, the fingers grazing gently among the textured fabric. Six lotus petaled ears flicked with the wind as a black furry monkey tail curled loosely around the creature’s feet. The tip twitched side to side, reflecting the current mood that was clouding the simian’s face.
As the moon crawled across the night sky into its final destination of the night, the black simian face seemed to become even more disgruntled. Their ears flicked behind them a few moments before a loud crash was heard throughout the edges of the clearing. The six ears pressed along the sides of their head as purple eyes glanced behind them to stare at the noisy arrival to the peaceful clearing.
Standing in a small creator a couple feet behind the black simian stood another creature that was similar in shape but with a few notable differences. Instead of black fur and dark tan skin with a black monkey tail, the newcomer had brightly orange fur with pale skin with only one set of pale monkey ears with a long fluffed up orange tail. A soft pink mask shaped in a peach adorned the face of the new being as sharp golden eyes stared at the black simian. The newcomer was the same in height, the only difference being a large two feathered hair dress giving them a key edge over the other simian.
The newcomer’s red cape blew softly in the wind as the six ears unfurled from their pressed positions. A bright long sleeve shirt was covered by a golden armored vest with two winged shoulder plates on either side. A pair of maroon red pants were held up by a thick red ribbon which held together a teal feathered skirt below the gold armor around the legs with red accents around the edges of the armor. A pair of black boots covered with a bit of dust from the impromptu landing gleamed ever so slightly in the silver light of the falling moon.
The air buzzed with the seeming tensed atmosphere as the black furred simian slowly turned to face the newcomer. Purple eyes gazed upon the brow of the orange furred newcomer, narrowing on a softly gleaming golden filet. It was settled softly among the fur as though it was the newcomer’s crown. Teeth gnashed angrily within the cheeks of the black simian’s mouth as his black bushy brows furrowed as a deeply etched frown echoed within their features.
Seeming to sense the obvious anger at the golden filet upon their head, a pale hand tentatively touched the right edge of the filet. Golden eyes were clouded with conflicting emotions as purple eyes pulled away within a flash, the black tail flicking with the annoyance of its owner. As the hand fell to its side, an obvious internal war raged within the orange being, reflecting well with his face.
After a while, the orange one’s mouth opened and whispered out a single name, “Macaque…”
Purple eyes snapped back onto gold, a firm frown on their face as they echoed back with another name, “Sun Wukong…”
A lengthy silence swallowed the two as a soft breeze blew the capes, the two simain’s seeming to fall into their own internal thoughts. The black simian, Macaque, drew his gaze away from the other, the gaze turning to the open clearing. The light of the moon danced among the white flowers, waning as the silver rays faded below the horizon. Feeling a burning gaze into his chest, purple eyes once more met with bright gold.
Macaque’s breath got stuck in his throat at the sight of the other’s look in his direction, wanting to make him turn away and not look back. Sun Wukong’s body was trembling from clashing emotions which were reflected in the way his lip would tremble and his face flashed with the obvious feelings he wanted to spill to the other. Gold eyes flashed with some very common emotions that Macaque was used to seeing in others, such as rage, betrayal, and emotional pain, but not in the orange fur simian.
As Macaque swallowed down the building lump in the back of his throat, Wukong’s voice echoed once more in the still clearing, “Why?”
Macaque felt his foot slide backwards as Wukong’s face darkened and his body wracked with obvious tremors, “Why did you do it?”
“Why?” Macaque’s voice cut through the air, his tail lashing behind him as he furiously glared at the gleaming golden filet on the other’s brow, his hand gesturing to it as his lips pulled back into snarl, “They were hurting you! After all you were doing to protect them, all they did to you was cause you pain!”
The following silence swallowed the two after the black simian’s rage filled shout echoed in the clearing. Macaque’s deep huffs vibrated within all six of his ears as he felt his hands curl into a fist, his long nails digging into the skin of his palm. The stinging of his nails burying deep within the flesh of his fist didn’t stop it from shaking. Golden eyes turned away sharply from the intense stare of purple.
With a couple deep breaths, Macaque closed his eyes and forced his body to relax at the other’s obvious shock at his outburst. Shifting his weight, he turned his back towards Wukong’s form, unknowingly causing the other to snap his attention back onto the black simian. Golden eyes stared at the back of Macaque’s head as a hand reached out to touch the other’s back.
As Wukong’s hand was about to touch the back of Macaque’s red cape, it flinched backwards. The fingers curled back a bit as though about to touch a scared animal’s form, preparing for the animal to attack in fear of being harmed. Holding his hand at a distance, it slowly fell back to his side as he gazed to the side. Allowing the silence to fill the void around the two.
“You didn’t have to hurt him,” Wukong’s voice cut through the silence, close to Macaque’s ears causing purple eyes to snap open, “Once I am done on the pilgrimage, I’ll return home.”
“What home?” Macaque’s snarl cut off any other words that Wukong was going to speak, golden eyes widening at the other’s shaking form.
At the other’s silence, Macaque whipped around, closing the distance between the two causing Wukong’s golden eyes to blaze with shock and his body recoiled at the other’s close proximity. Their noses were only an inch apart and Wukong couldn’t help but feel the heat rush to his face at the other’s facial features. Macaque’s eyes blaze with a ferocious fire, his nose wrinkling and his eyebrows furrowed downwards.
His lips pulled back into a snarl as Macaque glared heavily into Wukong’s own shocked expression, a rage-filled shout exiting his mouth, “We don’t have a home! It’s burned to a crisp by the heavens who seemed to have taken the great sage and turned him into an obedient dog!”
“Where is your honor and loyalty?” Macaque’s eyes narrowed as he continued to growl, jabbing a finger into Wukong’s chest causing the other to shuffle backwards at each jab, “Because it is certainly not with your family!”
As the sentences exited Macaque’s mouth, Wukong’s eyes narrowed and a snarl exited his mouth causing Macaque to freeze, allowing Wukong to grip the other’s wrists with his hands. The black simian’s fur fluffed up as Wukong’s own orange tail snapped to the sides of his body. Purple eyes met a ferocious golden blaze as Wukong leaned dangerously close to Macaque’s face, causing the other to lean back. Macaque’s six ears pressed close to his head as the two noses touched causing a familiar heat to arise in Macaque’s chest.
“I did it to protect our family,” Wukong growled out, his grip loose around the other’s wrists, “If I went back, they would have done the same thing and history would repeat itself.”
“I don’t believe you,” huffed Macaque at the other’s words, his own eyes narrowing igniting a purple spark within it’s owners eyes.
With a yank, the black simain’s wrists were freed from the others and he took many steps backwards from the other. Wukong’s form was still seeming to be frozen, his hands still in the same position as when he held the other’s wrists. His golden eyes watched as Macaque turned away and walked towards a familiar direction, causing them to narrow.
“Whatever you are planning to do, Macaque,” Wukong’s sharp growl caused the other to pause in his movements, “Don’t do it.”
“Do what?” Macaque questioned with a growl of his own, “Doing what is right for our home and our people?”
Silence swallowed the two as the moon descended past the horizon, allowing her partner to take the reins to begin a new day. As the star's twinkles started to fade with the moon’s rays, the shadows began to be pushed back by the first golden rays of the sun. Macaque could still feel the other’s gaze on his form, a feeling that once gave him a soft warmth now gave him an unquenchable fire within his chest. A fire he wanted to take out on the ones that were preventing the reunion he wanted, the one that was deserved.
“Macaque,” the black simian’s movements once again started to pick up, seeming to ignore the other simian’s call, “Macaque!”
The orange simian quickly pushed off from his position with a gust of wind that caused the six ears to flick in annoyance. Purple eyes narrow on the other simian’s outstretched form in the southwestern direction. Wukong’s own gaze narrowed on the other’s angered expression and rigid posture. Macaque’s fists that were at his side started to shake as he tried to move around Wukong, only to be blocked by the orange fur simian’s body.
“Sun Wukong, move,” the cold order almost made Wukong back off from the other, almost.
“No,” Wukong answered, causing purple eyes to narrow into dangerous slits, “This has to stop.”
A huff escaped Macaque’s mouth as he once again tried to move around Wukong’s form, only to be blocked and be pushed back slightly by the other’s tail. As another attempt was foiled by Wukong’s obnoxious movements, Macaque let out a snarl and tried to push past the other only to be pushed back himself.
“What is wrong with you?” Wukong asked, his golden eyes narrowing in a calculated stare at the other who stared back with one of his own.
Macaque did not respond and instead slipped into the ground in a swirling black and purple oval of shadows and magic. Wukong’s golden eyes narrowed and a growl exited his mouth as he quickly whipped around to see Macaque exit from the makeshift portal only a few feet behind him. The black simian seemed unaffected by the magical transportation he just pulled to get away from the other.
A gust of air caused the other to glower in anger and frustration as the same body that he just by-passed was once more in front of him. Golden eyes stared back with as much anger and frustration as the other, Wukong’s lips were pressed into a firm line as the other snarled.
Purple eyes glared as a frustrated growl passed his lips, “Move, Wukong, the monk deserves to die.”
“‘Deserves’?” Wukong asked, his voice dripping with a dangerous tone that Macaque felt he had heard before but as the thought crossed his mind, a growled out order cut through the air, “I think you need to go, Macaque.”
Macaque’s gaze glanced into the gold eyes of his counterpart and in that moment, Macaque felt a sharp pain in his chest. The golden eyes gleam with determination to protect the monk and his other friends, the same ones that Macaque wanted to tear apart. He knew the look multiple times and it usually ended with the opponent without a head.
“If you think that little look of yours is going to stop me from destroying those weaklings,” Macaque felt the anger and pain wash away all the other senses as he summoned the shadows to his aid, a purplish black mass growing in his left hand, “Then you need to think again.”
With a rage-filled shout, Macaque swung his left hand outwards and the purplish black mass elongated and slammed into Wukong’s chest sending the other flying backwards. Within the hands of Macaque was a purplish black staff of pure shadow magic that had spiked heads on either side. He spun it around himself before leaping at Wukong’s body once more.
Wukong at the sight of the rage-induced simian charging at him, reached for his right ear and pulled out a staff that gleamed gold. Its red wood was well polished and the golden tips gleamed in the morning rays, the engravings of the air etched along the metal soon met the barbed end of the other’s with a loud clang.
The two beings swirled with their respective magic, gold and purple. The two slam into one another with their respective staffs, allowing the clangs of their staffs to drown out with their angered shouts of rage at the other. The deadly dance of swinging and dodging caused most of the flowers in the clearing to lose their petals and flow in the wind.
Macaque blocked another swing from the other’s staff and jabbed out the other end of his staff at his opponent’s head, who ducked at the last second. A frustrated growl exited his mouth as he twisted his body away from a kick.
Wukong’s own face twisted with concentration and complete focus, he knew that Macaque’s own anger would cloud his judgment. He needed to focus on the other’s movements and counteract enough to disable him.
Seeing an opening, Wukong twirled his staff to the side and swung, allowing the golden edge to slam into the other’s open chest. A loud crack and a pain filled screech filled the air as the other was tossed into the ground, leaving a crater. At the sight of his opponent falling, Wukong easily moved to the edge of the crater. It should have been enough for them to move to a safer area, enough time for the other simian to cool his mind.
The sight of a barbed staff heading straight for his chest caused the orange simian to twist his body to the side, allowing it to slide past. Golden eyes widened as black fur suddenly slammed into him. The inertia of the attack sent him flying backwards into a couple hundred trees, leveling them flat and sent his staff flying.
A groan escaped Wukong’s mouth as he looked up to see Macaque grab his staff from its grounded position before sprinting towards him, purple eyes glazed over with so much rage. Leaping up from his old position, he quickly dodged the incoming swing and flipped backwards, landing near his own staff.
Gripping it with his tail, he passed it along his hands, blocking another attack from the black simian. A growl of anger flashing between the two, golden eyes hardened at the sight of the other’s rage. If the other simian refused to stay down after one hard strike, then he would force him to stay down.
The two simian’s fight led them to the air, causing the two to slam with their respective magic. Golden and purple flashes echoed throughout the morning air, the daylight standing witness to the fight of the two powerful beings. The fast pace fight flying through the air as the morning continued on marching.
After hours of the fight, the two were starting to lose stamina allowing Wukong to see another opening on his opponent’s body. Wukong flung his staff into the face of the other aiming for the right eye, allowing the end stabbing into the eye.
A screech of pure pain echoed the air causing Wukong’s eyes to narrow and his teeth to grit as the other’s body flew downwards slamming into a previous crater. Sending more dirt into the air and allowing a loud cloud of dust to swallow the two’s position. Golden eyes stared at the other with calculated battle prowess.
Macaque spat out the copper tasting liquid pooling from his eye along with dirt, closing both his eyes, he tried to force his body up. He needed to keep fighting against his once close friend and make them see reason. He needed to bring Wukong home and away from those pilgrims.
He felt a hand on his shoulders and he swung with his fist, only to have it caught and have his back slammed against the ground. He opened his one good eye to see Wukong staring at him with exasperated anger. He needed to keep Macaque down so that heaven wouldn’t punish the black simian like it did with him. So that history wouldn’t repeat himself.
Wukong didn’t have to push down hard for long as the black simain’s legs gave way after a couple of minutes of violent shaking. A gasp came from the black simian as his back slammed once more on the earth, this time facing the sky and the fading light of the white stars. Gold eyes scoured the other’s expression, a painful feeling surge within Wukong’s chest as he watched the crimson blood flow from the other’s eye and the shaking of the black simian’s body as it forced itself to try and get into a sitting postion before falling back into the dirt.
“What am I to you?” the black simian whispered, sending a cold shiver down Wukong’s spine, an eerie smile gracing the simian’s crazed features.
The eeriness of the smile seemed to solidify an appropriate response writhing within the mind of the orange furred simian. Even though Wukong didn’t want to do this to his old friend, he had to keep his other family safe. Once the pilgrimage is done, he would return home and repair all the damage he left behind.
With shaking hands, he stradled the others hips with his feet, pinning anyway for the other to escape. His shoulders shook as he lifted his staff above his head, preparing to slam the edge into the other’s head. Biting the lump in the back of his throat, Wukong stared at the crazed eyes of his once best friend.
“You were my friend,” he coldly responded, his eyes blazing with golden fire, “Now you are just my enemy.”
With a shout, Wukong swung the end of his staff into Macaque’s head with as much force as three mountains. With a sickening crack, the staff buried itself within the right side of Macaque’s head. A red liquid shot outwards from the new blow, covering the right side of the black simian’s features in a crimson red.
A loud gasp of pain shook the chest of the black simian’s body as he watched the orange simian, his once best friend, stand over him with a cugel. One of it’s golden ends covered in a bloody red, dripping onto the other side of his face. As the pain begin to register, Macaque felt his mind go back to when the two first became friends. When they were under one of the immortal peach trees and Wukong, in his opinion, foolishly made a promise to him.
He remembered the exact words the king used, the same one standing ontop of him like a hero defeating the evil villain, “I promised to always protect you, Mihou.”
“Always?” Macaque remembered himself asking back with an awed expression at the king, the sun in his life.
“Always!” Wukong replied, Macaque fondly remembers, with a bright smile, “Your king never makes a promise he can’t hold!”
But here Macaque was, broken in more ways than just the blood pooling from his head that made his mind foggy and his eyes hazy. He could feel the liquid pool around his body and feel the shudder within his chest of a fading breath. He could taste the copper liquid on his tongue and his nose burned with every breath, the coppery scent of blood coating every sense of his body. Every breath he took made him want to cry out even more, either from the heartbreak of another promise broken or from the physical pain could be up to interpretation. His world started to fade away around him but the only thing that stayed stark was the orange simian’s form.
Golden eyes were glistening within the night as lips were pulled within a thin line, the bloodied staff being held in his left hand loosely while the right one reached out to him. The hand hovered over his chest as Macaque felt his body become heavier with each wheezing breath he let out. He looked closer at the face of the person he considered his best friend, seeing nothing but anger towards him and something else…something he couldn’t quite place at the moment.
Though his body was failing him, he could feel it, Macaque was damned if he couldn’t say his final thoughts of this foolish golden simain. The one who made him feel special when others ridciuled his looks, who helped him become stronger and powerful, the same one who captured his attention and, in a way, his heart.
“You lied,” Macaque whispered out, his vision fading fast but he manage to spit out the last part of his sentence with a pained whisper, “You promised….”
Wukong’s golden eyes snapped to attention at the words, his gaze staring straight at the other’s, before they fluttered closed. Wukong let out a whimper as he heard Macaque take a shaky deep breath in before exhaling, the black simian’s body going limp as he did so. Macaque didn’t take another breath in, his chest going still and the once, warrior-like heart that was beating just moments ago went silent.
A loud anguished cry was releashed from the simain’s mouth as the sun began to rise over the horizon. The golden staff was released in seconds from the others grip, ringing as it hit the hard earth, while the orange simian hands wrapped around the other’s still face. The blood still dribbling out of the others nose and mouth. Salty tears poured out of the golden eyes as he pressed his head onto the other’s forehead, each sob heaving the chest of the monkey king.
As the golden rays coated the earthly plane, Wukong stayed by the other side his anguished cries becoming muffled with time. The other finally lifted his arms away from the others, shaky fingers brushing through the blood soaked fur of his best friend. A large lump was in the his throat and tears continued to fall as he stared at the others still form, cooling even underneath the sun’s warm rays.
Slowly Wukong pulled his body away from the other, moving only a couple inches to the right to sit beside him. Slowly he picked the other up as though they were a fragile piece of china, placing them between his open legs and into his lap. His orange tail curled around the other as he pushed the limp head into his warm chest, hoping that the movement and warmth would bring any breath of life back into his friend’s body. That the limp form of his friend would come alive and he could confess everything on his mind and heart.
He felt himself rock himself back and forth while muttering into the six ears that were becoming dull within the golden rays of the sun, “Macaque please, come back to me. I’m sorry. I’m so sorry. Forgive me.”
He repeated those words over and over again but nothing happened, not even a flutter or a twitch. Even as the sun reached the peak of it’s journey, Wukong continued to mourn with quite pleads that fell on deaf ears. Tears continuing to pour out from his golden eyes, mixing with the red around them. Even as the blood that coated the two of them dried under the sun, Wukong barely moved from his rocking position.
Wukong gritted his teeth tightly, feeling them grind against one another painfully as the lump in the back of his throat continued to grow. He was planning to go back to his home after the journey, to reject the Buddha title and ask to be simply a hero for others. When he was home, he was going to take his moonlight to his birthplace and ask him to be his mate. To be with him forever but here his moon was, laying limp after his attack. No longer breathing to make a sassy comment, no longer having a heart beat that would always calm him down, no longer….alive to be with him forever.
A choked sound exited the ginger simian’s lips as he felt more tears fall down his face, pulling his moon, his Macaque closer, he lifted his head up and cried out with an anguish cry, “I loved you Macaque! Please come back to me! I’m sorry!”

Discard #3
So...Freenoodles roleplay! I had an idea about going into Tang’s group but that kinda bogged stuff down. But, hey, here’s Dad Macaque and baby Bai He!
A small flash of dark hair made Tang’s heart skip a beat. “And this must be the little angel!” he said, kneeling to get a look at the little girl, clinging to Liu’s pant leg. The little girl, probably no older than three, peered up at him with big brown eyes. “Hello there,” Tang said, offering a hand. “I’m Tang. And who might you be?”
Liu chuckled. “Her name’s Qi Huiying. We call her Bai He whenever she’s being sweet, which,” He scooped up the little girl, prompting a squeal of joy from tiny lungs, and nuzzled her. “Is all the time.”
Tang cooed. “My son’s the exact same way. Although,” He met eyes with Bai He, who gave him a silly little baby grin. “He’s eleven. Maybe I can bring him over, he would love to meet you.”

Thanks so much for tagging me!
1.) Rayla/Callum (Rayllum) from The Dragon Prince
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
My og, my everything—they have it all. They're so mentally ill. They make each other's mentally ill. They make each other better. Their first "I love you" is the climax of arc 1. They got over centuries of hate and bloodshed just to be together. Truly the most enemies to friends to lovers of all time. Callum asks Rayla to kill him if worst comes to worst. They broke each others hearts. They healed each others souls. They'd do unspeakable acts for one another. They are foils. They are themes personified. They've ruined my standards for romantic shipping for the rest of my life. Oh my god. I can not overstate how much I love them.
Bonus hug because while they make each other mentally ill, they also make me mentally ill:
Tumblr media
2.) Tang/Pigsy (Freenoodles) from Lego Monkie Kid
So. Legos. I know I know—but there's just something about these two. One's a freeloader food lover who inherited the powers of the great Monk Tang Sanzang. The other is a small business owner/single father who is a decedent of Zhu Bajie. They're basically canon. Mr. "One day I will become someone they can depend on, the way I can always depend on them!" being someone the Pig can depend on (cough cough 2x04 and 4x03 cough cough) is just fucking it. Pigsy saying "Yeah! Sometimes it’s that little bit of char that makes for a more flavorful meat! Even if it is a bit tangy" in 3x14 after Tang insists that an imperfect world is worth fighting for? Bro. Loving each other in imperfection. Like. Bro. Imperfect people are worth fighting for. Like. Bro.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
3.) Sora/Riku (Soriku) from Kingdom Hearts
Soriku. Oh my god. All these two can do is chase after one another. If they manage to reach each other, then they're separated again—and yet, they always find their way back. This endless conflict between finding and losing makes these two like, PEAK. Riku literally performing a sacrifice of love at the end of KH3? Traveling to the afterlife in search of Sora? Very few are doing it like them. Also basically canon. Sora is the darkness in the light and Riku is the light in the darkness. They complete each other, their hearts are connected, and I can't help but love 'em.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
4.) Suzie/Noelle (Suselle) from Deltarune
Deltarune fucks me up. Suzie and Noelle also fuck me up. Suzie is the only character to ever force her choices upon you, the player, and Noelle is the only other character besides Kris who you can so directly control. They are the classic Jock and Nerd or Beauty and Beast pairing, except they flip those tropes on their HEAD—each character has a little bit of both despite first appearances. They're lesbians. They're dorks. They're doomed by the players choices, mere puppets in a game they don't yet comprehend. And they're fucking ADORABLE. Susie is the one thing holding this trainwreck together (in my opinion), especially in snowgrave, and I LOVE IT.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
5.) Rapunzel/Eugene (New Dream) from Tangled
New Dream, a ship that's always been there for me. I've only watched the first 2 seasons of the show so I'm mainly talking about the movie, but Rapunzel and Eugene will always be near and dear to my heart. "You were my new dream" "And you were mine" LIKE COME ON. One sassy jaded rogue and a kind-heated naive/lost princess walk into a bar, then forever changing each others lives. Eugene died for Rapunzel. Rapunzel was willing to die for Eugene. They showed each other that there's more to life than the tower rooms you've been put in. There's more to the dreams you carry with you. God, the way Eugene always brushes Rapunzel's hair out of her face (v.s. Gothel who is only ever affectionate with her hair). I'll always love 'em.

Honorary mention: Crowley/Aziraphale (Ineffable Husbands) from Good Omens.
Other honorary mention that I couldn't include because it's also from tdp: Janai/Amaya (Janaya). Also so so so thematically good and so delightful.
I don't know if I want to tag anyone, but if you're my mutual/someone who wants to participate go ahead!
Slash ships to get to know me
Rules: name at leave 5 ships that you love, each from a different fandom.
Thank you to @davidbowielovesyou for tagging me! <3
Runaan/Ethari (Ruthari) - The Dragon Prince
OF COURSE. OF COURSE. my #1 ship ever!! I love them SO much. I've written so much of them purely because of how neat I think they are. They own a part of my heart.
Hange/Moblit (Mobuhan) - Attack on Titan
Heh heh. Genius ADHD scientist and their malewife who literally died for them. Not only are they adorable together but they're hysterical, and they quickly captured my heart!
Linus/Arthur - The House in the Cerulean Sea
Absolute sweethearts who make my heart hurt but also heal it at the same time! Love them so much <3
Bitty/Jack (Zimbits) - Omg! Check Please
Eeeeee hehehe I love them, and have for a long time! Such sweeties (do you see a trend in my ships?)

Do you have any fic recomendations?
I do atcually! These aren't all of them because I can't really REMEMBER all of the fics I read but I can give you some of my bookmarks!
(Dont know what fandom your looking for so these might not help.)
What's A... Birth-Day? By catnoodles
Basically all of the monkie gang get together and throw Wukong a birthday! It's really cute, it's got Pigsy and Wukong bonding, some funny Sunburst Duo moments, Wukong being shy. It's a really cute ship and if your a Wukong kinny like me you'll love it!
Imposter Syndrome By imbeccable
A Dadsy fic! Basically Pigsy denies being Mk dad then Mk denies being Pigsys son and he gets sad :(
First Date Blues By StarRoseColors
Macaque gets REALLY pissy Wukong has a date. He wants to get back with Wukong but he's going on a date and didn't tell Macaque. Sad hours for Macaque.
Charmed By Crieeter
This is a lackadaisy fic! It's a Hellerby (Rocky x Mordecai). It's a BEAUTIFULLY written fic and I hope the last chapter is uploaded soon. If down bad Mordecai is your jam then you'll LOVE this fic.
Moving on By Zetra_Artz
Another ShadowPeach fic. Wukong downloades Tinder to try and move on but Mk, Redson, Mei, and Macaque come up with the idea that Macaque makes a fake account to woo Wukong. This one is one of my favorites because it's got all my favorites! Uncle Wukong, Macaque slander, Nezha and DBK being brothers with Wukong, and Wukong! There is a bit of smut so be weary. It's not finished yet but it's REALLY good.
Fractured Peices make a Mossiac By @furornocturna
I LOVE THIS FIC SO MUCH GUYS. I call it a bully fic but there's WAY more to it then that. It's another ShadowPeach fic. It gets DARK tho so make sure to read the tags.
Juicy Confessions By @furornocturna
I'm just saying I GAVE her the idea for this fic. Nah I'm kidding, but I was one of the people that got to beta read this fic and make suggestions. It's a Cookie Run fic about Wizard Cookie x Gingerbrave. Gingerbrave gets absolutely SMASHED and makes it Wizards problem. I litteraly have sketches for fanart of this fic cause it's litteraly a fic FOR ME. I didn't have my gifts on but I do NOW. I love this fic guys so much.
Operation Apologize By @dortiii
THIS FIC IS MINE. No really it was a gift for me. I made a gift for Dortii, so she made a gift for me, so now I've started a fic war. Count your day Dortii.
This fic is Sandy centered and I LOVE THAT. I love Sandy so much. Fun fact, Hunstman is my favorite lmk character. Silktea is my favorite ship. So since I made Dorti a Freenoodles fic, she made me a Silktea fic. It's about how Sandy is suffering because he can't find Hunstman. (He doesn't know he's dead). And how he's isolating himself. It's a good foc and only needs one more chapter. I'm so EXCITED.
I have more but this is getting LONG. Read all of these fics (especially the fics of my friends). I think you'll like them :D

Seriously though, there’s so much tragedy in these relationships. For FreeNoodles it’s because they could have honestly had a strong and healthy relationship someday. It would have taken time but it could have happened.
But not anymore.
Even in the ‘good’ ending, the two of them are never able to trust their emotions around one another again. After all, they know that Xiaotian could mess with people’s memories, so how much of the ‘mutual affection’ they remember is even real? They split and annul the marriage because that’s the only way they’re even going to have a chance as saving some form of friendship out of all of this.
And then in the endings where they don’t break free (which is most of them) they’re this example of something that is so close to being healthy, so close to being real, but it’s so fundamentally tainted by Oblivion that even something wholesome has been made dark.
And then like Vega mentioned in her tags, (because she always hides lots of good stuff there y'all should read them) DBK is only in this for his family. He fundamentally doesn't care about anyone else, and because of that he ends up dooming them a little bit.
In the Red Awakens ending, Red Son actually capitalizes on that to get information he needs to cinch the villain’s victory, where as in the ‘middle ground’ ending, DBK could potentially have the chance to at least save his wife, but his son is honestly mostly lucid (because ‘Red Son’ was snuffed out a while ago, and there isn’t anything left inside him that isn’t Xiaotian’s creation, not really, and so he can be mostly lucid and ‘in on it’ because any part of him that would have fought back was smothered over the years) at this point and firmly on ‘his Husband’s’ side. So instead of trying to fight and get at least PIF free from the brainwashing, he abandons the rebellion and their attempts to retake the city and... all but knowingly walks over to the other side.
(Side note, the ‘middle ground’ ending is the one with the ‘literal god complex’ thing going on, and Red claiming Xiaojiao’s ‘Maiden’ as his baby sister, so, you know, there’s that to sweeten the pot to switch sides as well)
Hey, what’s Freenoodles and Ironbull like in the Tyrant Prince au? Since you seemed to put them under the fucked up ships (if my understanding is correct) in this au and we already know about all the other ships there.
Freenoodles is definitely the 'healthiest' couple on the 'monkey crew' side of the AU but that's also a very... relative term.... (Psst @unseelie-robynx)
See they hadn't been together before the events of the original Oblivion series. And in the five years between then and when we refocus on the Tyrant Prince timeline, they're married.
Now, it's not ENTIRELY fucked up because there WAS mutual affection there, but neither Pigsy nor Tang had been comfortable with making a first move. In our story Pigsy has a pretty long history of relationships that went bad. Real bad. He's got a lot of bad memories that made him for the longest time uncomfortable with the idea if pursuing anything with someone he actually is FRIENDS with. And Tang Meanwhile is also very well aware of Pigsy's long sordid past romances and it really kinda made him unwilling to make the first move himself, in part because of usual Tang-based insecurities, the sort of 'what can i offer without the drawbacks making everything worse and clearly i MUST be unappealing have you SEEN me?' kinda thing
Now, Xiaotian in a very kind of nosey way is very much aware of his two father figures clearly having feelings for eachother but both being unwilling to act upon them and... well he helped! He was trying to work on Mr Tang's confidence anyway and Pigsy's better off not really remembering all of those past bad relationships and any and all attached trauma.
They're not like, Unhealthy with a captial U, they're actually a fully functioning couple that still fully treat eachother as equals (there is a firm boundry between 'partners' and 'Husband and wife' as relationship setups, and Pigsy and Tang are the former while those like Xiaotian and Red, Xiaojao and Spindrax/Shuyin, and Sandy and Huntsman are all the Latter)
but they ARE pretty heavily codependant from how much Xiaotian screwed with either of their heads with the explicit endgoal of them getting together.
Tang's able to accept some p. fucked up shit because Pigsy got convinced of it first and signs off on it, while Pigsy is very easily manipulated into said fucked up shit if he's got Tang in mind at the time.
Meanwhile with Ironbull....
Okay here's the thing-
So when Xiaotian had been full 'not seeing Red Son like a person' he'd decided to better keep control of 'his plaything' he essentially forced Red to fully forget having parents at all, essentially beliving Xiaotian made him himself. So by the time he went Lucid that was something he kinda couldn't (Re: didn't want because he's afraid of the repercussions) take back.
So now that he's trying to use Oblivion for GOOD things, he's trying to REFORM evildoers, and... with their son seemingly abandoning them, there was always the looming threat of DBK and PIF going back to villainy. unless... Well unless they never had a son at all.
And it works, but not really. Because Red was FAR too far gone to really be able to fight the imposed memory blank, but his parents certainly weren't. and fighting off Oblivion effects can really fucking HURT so basically they both end up miserable missing someone their minds tell them never existed and in pain but not knowing why.
DBK has a bit of a breakdown that turns into a violent rampage through the city. Xiaotian fearing/knowing what's happening and long lucid already knows that this is his fault for doing a shoddy job, but there's no way he's going to be able to fix the bull king with him like this. He both has to save the city and cover his own tracks because if ANYONE close enough to this goes lucid and he can't deal with it then the whole thing unravels.
As far as anyone on the surface is aware, the Ox Demon King died that day. finally put down after such a short time being free from the mountain. There was nothing to be done. possessed by a great rage curse and mind eroded into nothing, blamed on some sort of echo of LBD that remained in him, there's a million explinations. Xiaotian considers it his greatest failure. But it was also the day people started calling him 'Prince' and meaning it.
PIF is is a real damn deep depression, the child she doesn't remember but misses terribly a hole in her heart, but her own mental anguish over it shorted back into nothing as the new greif settles in
As after five hundred years of barely held together hope had only paid off for five only to be dashed on the rocks and shattered into nothing. She currently lives on FFM with Wukong and Macaque, unable to go back to any of their former homes for the memories that haunt her.
Ironbull ain't doing too hot, because DBK is dead.
But that's just what everyone above ground believes.
DBK is alive, and it took every ounce of magic between Spider Queen and all the demons in the resistance to conjure a convicning illusion of the bull king's mangled corpse while also getting the man down below ground to calm him down.
He's in the resistance and was in fact part of the 'saving Huntsman' project when it became a thing. slowly trying to piece together memories of his son (and at times coming up with incorrect answers because he has no one to confer with that really knew how their relationship worked) and vowing to save his family and return their minds and memories to them.
But if he's being completely honest, he doesn't care all THAT much about the whole 'revolution' thing. he ONLY cares about his wife and his son. This revolution is personal for a lot of people, but it is PERSONAL for DBK.

The Lost Child - Chapter 9
Once, when the land was young and new, the Gods, the  demons, and the mortals lived together. The world shaped by the battles between the Gods and the demons. Mortals attempting to thrive with what  they could, living on the lands created by beings stronger than them. Eventually creating a connection with the Gods through shrines and  offerings, in turn the Gods granted their protection.
When the  number of demons grew, the amount of power diminished. Those deemed too  weak were cast away. A tentative agreement was reached between those outcasted and the mortals. Demons allowed to live in the structures  mortals had built. It was a slow process, but a calm living was  eventually reached.
All seemed well. Until the Gods and powerful demon suddenly disappeared one morning. No reason, no explanation. Those  left behind having to wonder what could have happened. It was  all…strange. Worrisome. It was a clear sign something was wrong. Now it was just a question of when it was all going to fall apart.
Fandom: LEGO Monkie Kid       Rating: Teen and Up Audiences         Relationships: Shadowpeach, Freenoodles, MK&SunWukong&Macaque, MK&Pigsy&Tang, Mei&MK&Redson       Warnings/Additional Tags: Lots of Characters, Everyone’s here, A lot is going to be changed, Rated Teen for just in case, Found family, Returning to Parents, There’s gonna be fluff and fighting, There’s plot - trust me.
MK’s mouth dropped open in amazement upon entering the training room properly. Eyes instantly scanning over the numerous weapons that decorated the walls. Swords, staffs, bows, and so many things that MK had no idea what they were called. A large padded training arena was placed in the center with the rest holding further training equipment.
“There’s…a lot going on here.” MK commented.
“We’ll be in here a lot moving forward,” Wukong smiled, “A safe space for you three to train.”
“Wait, three?” Pigsy frowned. But was pulled away by Tang before he could demand a further explanation from Wukong. The human clearly attempted to explain. A sheepish smile on his face while Pigsy looked further upset.
Wukong felt a little worried he’d just set off a negative conversation with his comment. But unsure where he overstepped. He was pulled away hearing MK let out a gasp of excitement. Finding the teen standing underneath two staves that were crossed over each other, mounted to the wall. One with a base a deep red, each end encased in solid gold. Swirls etched into the glittering metal. The other was a deep purple, numerous sharp barbs sticking out at each end. It seemed to be transparent as something could be seen moving inside, but it was so dark to see what it was.
“Find something interesting?” Wukong questioned with a teasing tone.
“I never thought I would be able to see the mystical weapons that helped shape the world,” MK said breathlessly, “Dad told me so many stories of you and Macaque, going into battle, side by side with signature staves in hand. I always begged to hear them before bed.”
“Really? You didn’t have any nightmares from them? They weren’t exactly…child friendly.”
“Dad paraphrased, a lot. I didn’t learn until later how they truly turned out. When I was younger, it was just about hearing how you two won.”
Wukong laughed softly. “Yeah, I’m a fan of those stories too.”
“Do you use them still, the staves?”
“No…it would need to be a worst case scenario to bring those down. The last time we used them when we separated the Mortal and Celestial Realm. When we had to chase a number of people out of the Mortal Realm…it took awhile. There were a lot who thought they could either hide away or take advantage of the situation.”
“...The spider demons?”
“They were only part of the issue, but they were a big part. We pushed that lot to the edge of the realm. They know better than to come here…doesn’t mean they haven’t tried. But, to go back to your original question, no, we don’t use them anymore. …That might change if Spider Queen is dumb enough to come here.”
“...Do you think I could use them?” MK asked with wide eyes. The hopefulness washed away when Wukong laughed and ruffled the teen’s hair.
“Nice try buddy. How about we start off slow and see where we go from there? We don’t even know what weapon works for you.”
“Ugh, fine.”
The doors opened once more. MK inching closer to Wukong as Macaque and Nezha entered. The lotus prince not missing the way the teen flinched when their eyes connected.
The Shadow Warrior cleared his throat to call attention. Giving a small smile as all looked over. “I do believe a proper introduction is in order. MK, Pigsy, Tang, allowed me to introduce to you Nezha, the third lotus prince. Nezha…this is MK, our son. As well as Pigsy and Tang, the mortals who found MK and raised them as their own.”
Nezha bowed to said mortals. “I thank you for opening your home and hearts to the young prince. Especially towards a child you knew nothing of.”
Pigsy gave a tense nod. Tang smiled back weakly. Both unsure of how to respond after such a tense first meeting. Clearly wanting to push past the uncomfortable situation, Nezha turned to MK. Who tensed further.
The lotus prince fell to one knee, head bowed low. “My prince, my words cannot be enough to express how truly sorry I am. Not only for…for attacking you just now, but for losing you so long ago.”
The teen looked nervously around, clearly lost. “...I don’t know what to say?”
“You don’t need to say anything. I’m not one you need to give forgiveness to or words of sympathy.”
“But…you did what you could!”
“That does not account towards forgiveness.”
“I don’t… Please stand up.” MK asked weakly. If Nezha was confused by this request, it didn’t show. Doing as asked without question. The lotus prince was shocked when MK rushed forward. The teen wrapped his arms around the other tightly. Nezha tense this time. “I don’t blame you.”
“I…don’t deserve forgiveness.”
“Well…you’re getting it.” MK huffed. Which caused Tang and Pigsy to laugh softly.
The human saying, “I would just accept this. MK won’t let go until you do.”
“...Very well. Thank you for your forgiveness.” Nezha said calmly.
MK pulled away to offer a wide smile. “Good!”
Nezha, clearly very confused by what happened, looked over to the deities. Both of whom were silently laughing. “What just happened?”
“I’m not really sure, but it was fun to watch.” Wukong said casually.
Macaque smiled as he spoke once more. “Okay, now that we’re past that. Nezha has agreed to enter into his previous role of acting as your bodyguard if needed. As well as helping you train.”
“Really?” MK smiled.
“Yes, it’s the most I can do to make up for-” Nezha faltered as the teen actually glared at him. “Ah…it would just… It’s an honor to train you.”
The wide smile returned.
Macaque, Nezha, and Pigsy discussed the coming days. Working and planning out how to handle training. The chef made sure there was time to relax during all of this. All the while Wukong showed off the numerous weapons to MK and Tang. Both absolutely enraptured with the stories each weapon held.
Nezha called for his departure when a plan had been finalized. Giving a small bow with the promise of returning tomorrow to start training. With the lotus prince gone, the rest of the group decided on dinner before spending the rest of the evening doing as they wished. Tang immediately begged Pigsy that they could go to the large bath. The chef flushing darkly but nodded in agreement with a small smile. Commenting the warm water could work wonders on his sore muscles.The mention of a bath caused Wukong to look over to MK’s hair, which looked tangled and bristled.
“I don’t suppose you’ve even been groomed before?” The golden monkey asked. One that caused MK to pause and look over with a raised brow.
“A…what?”
“A grooming. It’s, um, it’s what monkey’s do to keep their fur neat and clean.”
“I shower.”
Wukong laughed softly. “It’s a different kind of cleaning. Washing is fine. But it dries out our fur, and with how thick it is, grooming helps with getting out any knots, tangles, and damaged ends. Also make our fur soft. It’s great, honestly.”
MK frowned, a hand reaching up to feel his hair. It was thick, wild, and rough to the touch. “I…thought it was supposed to be like that.”
“It’s okay, you didn’t know,” Macaque said quickly, “I have a feeling it’s going to be like this for a while. Don’t fret over it.”
Wukong leans over to place a gentle kiss on MK’s temple. “Go take a shower and meet us in our room, okay?”
The teen nodded slowly, offering a small smile back before leaving the kitchen. After a long and warm shower, MK dressed in his newly acquired sleepwear before knocking on the deities’ door. Macaque opened it with a smile and gestured for MK to enter. Wukong beamed seeing the teen. Directing MK towards the edge of the bed, the teen seeming to sink into the wonderfully cushioned furniture.
“We’re going to fully dry your hair first.”
MK looked around. “Um…I don’t see a hair dryer…”
Wukong laughed softly at this. “Don’t need one.”
The teen was surprised when Wukong’s hand traveled easily through his hair. The pads on the golden monkey’s radiated heat. “Whoa, I didn’t know you could do that!”
“Well, when it’s not useful during a fight, it’s not cool enough to be talked about.”
“I don’t want to share my stylist with anyone.” Macaque teased.
Wukong rolled his eyes at that, but his fond smile didn’t waver. “You hate sharing me in any way. You jealous little shadow.”
“Don’t harass me.”
MK laughed softly as he listened to the deities banter playfully. A little surprised to realize they sounded very much like Pigsy and Tang. Hair dried soon enough, MK was directed to the reconstructed nest. Smaller than the one made from the previous night, but no less comfortable.
Sat in the center of it, MK looked back when Wukong sat directly behind him. But had his head positioned to look forward once more. “Um…”
“Try not to move. Even from here I can tell I have my work cut out for me.”
Just as moments prior, Mk felt fingers traveling through his hair. But these touches were far more meticulous. Seeming to run through every individual strand. Claws carefully traveled down and picked at the scalp as Wukong removed the remaining dirt and debris he could find.
As time went on, MK felt his shoulders starting to slump. The teen yawned widely as his eyes drooped close. Letting out a small noise when he’s moved to lean against Macaque. Chirping as he nuzzled under the Shadow Warrior’s chin.
“Don’t undo my hard work.” Wukong whispered.
“Oh hush, the kid’s fine.” Macaque replied softly.
Wukong gave a playful huff but nothing more. Never stopping his movements and the occasional scratches against MK’s head. The teen could hear them carry on a quiet conversation. All becoming gentle touches and soft voices as MK drifted off to sleep.

Pigsy would like to think of himself as a practical person.
Level headed, with a tiny bit of anger directed towards stupid people, Pigsy knew better than to go with knee jerk reactions. After all, it’s hard to improve if you don’t take time to understand why something’s wrong. Looking over every piece of information then deciding on how to move forward.
But what happens when there’s too much to look at?
It was strange that in 24 hours, their lives had changed so much. The child they had adopted was the son of Gods. Someone was hunting his child down for an unknown reason with no way of knowing when they were going to attack. And now his child and partner were asking to be trained, to be able to fight for themselves. All trapped in the Celestial Realm with no way of knowing how or when they were going to get back home.
How was his restaurant? Had they been reported as missing yet? …Pigsy wondered if there was any way to send a call to the Mortal Realm from here. At least send out a message to let someone know the family was alright.
The chef let out a slow sigh, leaning against the railing on the room’s attached balcony. Eyes scanning the city line before him. A gentle blue light glowing from the surprisingly quiet area. He didn’t argue as a pair of arms wrapped around one of his own.
“I can hear your brain churning from the room.” Tang whispers gently. Laying his head on Pigsy’s shoulders.
“I thought I smelt bacon. Didn’t know it was from me.” That got a laugh from the human, Pigsy smiling softly.
“Cute… But seriously, are you okay? We just took one of the most relaxing soaks in a beautiful bathhouse that I’ve ever seen and you’re so tense.”
“I’m just…overwhelmed. So much has changed in one day and I’m not sure what to do. I hate that our child is in danger. I hate that there’s a need to suddenly learn how to fight to keep us safe. And I hate…I hate that I feel like MK’s pulling away, that he’s no longer our son.”
Tang frowned softly. “You said it yourself, we’ve been dealt with a lot in a single day. We’re all so overwhelmed and we’re dealing with it as best we can. That doesn’t mean MK isn’t our kid still to some degree. We still raised him, we love him and he loves us.”
“Last night-”
“Last night was a mess. That can’t be your measurement for caring. MK thought we were asleep and wanted to give us space. It’s fine that he went to his parents for comfort.”
“Then why didn’t we talk to MK tonight? It just feels weird to not have him constantly with us. Going with the other two…” Pigsy frowned when Tang appeared upset. The chef turned to face the scholar properly. “What?”
“Pigsy… ‘the others’ are MK’s biological parents. One’s that haven’t been able to see  him, hold him, in years! I can’t even imagine…how much that hurts. We need to let MK decide how to move forward with these relationships. That includes ours.”
Tang didn’t miss the hurt that flashed through Pigsy’s eyes. The human gently cupped the pink cheeks and offered a small smile. “There’s more to this, I can tell. Talk to me Pigsy.”
“This is…it’s all just too much. Being here, learning about where MK came from. I knew he was different, but I didn’t think it would be a God-like difference. There was a target on my family's back and I didn't know it! Now there’s talk of training and MK having a bodyguard, and you want to learn how to fight and-”
Tang quickly pulled the other closer, Pigsy pressing his face into the human’s neck. Who was uncaring at the hooves digging into this skin. Racing up to gently rub the back of the chef’s head.
The scholar let out a small sigh. “I really wish you would stop being so headstrong, love.”
“...I have to keep my family safe.”
“I’m not just your family, you’re mine. We’re a team to make everything work. To keep us and MK safe. Now we’re in a situation where it’s so beyond our control. But we have more people on our side and I want to do everything I can to have some control over this situation. If that means pickup in a sword, so be it.”
Pigsy gave a weak laugh. “I don’t know… I can’t really see you with a sword.”
“I think I’d look pretty badass if you ask me.”
That caused a full blown laugh as Pigsy pulled away. The chef placed a kiss on Tang’s cheek. “I really have been caught up in my own head, haven’t I? …I haven’t even asked how you’re doing.”
Tang’s smile turned a little sour, Pigsy finally able to see the cracks. “I…am terrified. You’re right, it’s a lot, way too much! Our boy has been denied so much and has been handed a problem that he shouldn’t have to face. But..it is a comfort in knowing we have people backing us up. That you’re here with me and I can still keep an eye on MK. I’m just going to take this a day at a time. Plan for what I can. We’ll be okay Pigsy.”
“...I hope you’re right…”
“If you’re still worried, how about you talk to Macaque tomorrow? Maybe hearing his point of view on this could help.”
Pigsy playfully huffed. “Fine, if you insist.”
“I do. Now, let’s get to bed. We have a lot to look forward to tomorrow.”
Tang couldn’t help but laugh at Pigsy’s antics as the chef groaned dramatically. Going to follow his partner when something gold flashed in the corner of his eye. Tang quickly looked back to the city, believing something major was happening to cause that flash. But looking it over showed the area was still calm and quiet.
“Weird…” Tang said softly.
“Tang, are you okay?”
“Uh, yeah! Yes, I’m coming.” One more glance was sent towards the city before Tang walked back into the room.
Just missing the golden cicada that rested on the railing he’d just left.
_______________________
When that morning started, the aura surrounding the city had felt…off. To what extent, it wasn’t clear, but something bad had definitely happened that caused the spirits to be in a poor mood.
Sandy hummed softly as he nursed his tea, eyes narrowed on the city. A hand reaching out to scratch behind Mo’s ear. The blue cat with an orange mohawk purring happily as he rested on his owner’s lap. The water demon felt uneasy, but had nothing for it at the moment. His job was calling and all unease needed to be pushed aside so he could focus. But by the time that the sun was starting to sink below the horizon, the feeling didn’t disappear.
And he really couldn’t ignore it any longer.
There was nothing to it other than to look for the source of the negativity himself. Sandy made sure to lock up the boat, had Mo in his backpack carrier, and headed off to the city. He ignored the stares as he ran, yes ran, through the city streets. Keeping his eyes, ears, and chi open for any signs of trouble. The trouble with large cities was the fact that…well, they were large! The number of living beings, from people, to demons, to animals, to plant life, make it difficult to narrow down where the issue was coming from.
Which meant Sandy had to run down every street, alleyway, and anything else that counted as public property. Attempting to hunt down…whatever he was supposed to be looking for. That was the issue with dealing with spiritual issues. There was no way to narrow down where the negative energy was coming from because it was all based on a feeling and not a concrete issue.
It was nearing a familiar street that Sandy felt the energy become stronger, but that didn’t make the demon feel any better. Because he knew where this road led to and what that could possibly mean. Sure enough, the familiar noodle shop sign came into view.
The neon lights were off. That wasn’t good.
Sandy had known Pigsy for a while now. Back when the chef was in school and pulling double shifts to learn everything he could about ingredients. Pigsy thought that the water demon was a fisherman. Only to learn Sandy shipped mechanical supplies and not live produce. Even with the let out it became a beneficial meeting as the water demon had been able to share his knowledge of tea. Those that could be infused into the food and those that were better suited as a drink only.
It was the start of an interesting start to a friendship. Sandy shared stories to the places he’d been to for deliveries when he stopped by the chef’s food cart. Pigsy, in turn, gives a free meal to the sea hardened demon. To show off his new items using tea in their creation.
Sandy was there when Pigsy started to freak out over Tang. The chef clearly losing his mind about how to ask the human out properly. The water demon giving the helpful advice of ‘Well, why don’t you just talk to him?’.
Sandy had met MK when the monkey was a baby. Absolutely smitten with the small form that rested so easily into the palm of his hand. Happy to occationally keep an eye on MK while his parents worked.
While it had been years since they’d been able to meet in person, Sandy and Pigsy were still able to communicate. Both getting busy with their lives in different ways. Sandy traveling further out from the city to see more of the world. Pigsy settling in better to his role of a family man. Both trading messages and phone calls when the water demon could get the service. So, even though Sandy hadn’t been there in person to see MK grow, he’d like to think of himself as an uncle.
So even with the times Sandy had shown up in person, he could recognize when something was wrong with the shop. And the lights being off was issue number one.
Slowing his pace, Sandy approached the restaurant slowly as he found the source of the negative energy. Whatever happened here must have been bad if the water demon had been able to feel it from the docks. But the building, while dark, was still standing. So, as far as Sandy could tell, there hadn’t been a fight. Inching towards the front door as cautiously as he could, the demon poked his head into the restaurant from the unlocked door.
It was dark and quiet inside. Nothing seemed out of place, nothing seemed to have been moved, nothing had indicated a robbery or anything bad. But the dark emotion hung heavy in the air. Sandy moved further in. Even with nothing appearing to have been stolen, it was also apparent that this setup was not normal either. He knew Pigsy was meticulous with his items. So finding a wooden spoon on the ground with a chair knocked over sent alarm bells going off in his head.
Just as he was about to open his mouth to call out Pigsy’s name, Sandy snapped it shut hearing movement from upstairs. A shuffling noise that he thought might be someone walking around. He wasn’t one to fight and getting into a confrontation right now in an area filled with negative energy seemed like a bad idea. However, Sandy knew he couldn’t let this rest until he found something to calm his nerves. With one more pat to Mo’s head for comfort, Sandy made his way upstairs.
Approaching the second landing, Sandy narrowed down where the sound was coming from. While he’d only seen it a few times, he knew the first room belonged to MK. Being there when the monkey had gotten his first ‘big boy’ bed. Sandy heard frantic shuffling and muffled words heard from the other side of the closed door. Someone sounded angry over something, but he couldn’t understand what was being said. What Sandy did know was that he’d never heard that voice before.
Taking a deep breath, Sandy placed a hand over Mo for extra strength and knocked on the door. The voices inside immediately quieted down. “Um, hello? Is someone there? Are you…lost?”
No response. Instead, he heard frantic movements. The sound of the window opening follows. Deciding the other wasn’t going to walk out to greet him, Sandy walked in. Eyes widening slightly as he caught a spider demon barely out the window they had no doubt just opened. The spider’s coat swaying from the last movement made. Both staring the other down in stunned silence. Only Mo seemed to understand what was happening, letting out a low growl with eyes narrowed down on the intruder.
“...You really shouldn’t be crawling out of a window. You could damage something.” Sandy offered. That seemed to break whatever stupor the other was in. The spider demon letting out a hiss before launching himself forward to attack. One that Sandy caught easily with a single hand. An act that caught the spider demon immediately off guard. “Hey now, no need to trade blows. I just wanted to talk. You seem a little lost. How about we go downstairs and sort all of this out over a cup of tea?”
Huntsman didn’t get much of a choice in the matter as he was practically dragged downstairs by this blue behemoth. Keeping the bag of collected supplies close as he glared at the being dragging him around. Hopefully Stront could keep the fort down until he could break free.

Note
You said you have yet to write something for winter's Actor au, so how about we fix that!? Maybe with promts 18 and 28? It could be with anyone, Shadowpeach, Freenoodles, even Ironbull, you choose
Disclaimer: I don’t really know all the ins and outs of how movie making works, I am winging it based on behind the scenes footage videos. This is probably not a 100% accurate representation of a studio lot. There are multiple mentioned ships but no focus here today, this is just a fun little gen fic idea I had! When does this take place? ..... UH... SO ANYWAY @winterpower98 CREATED THIS AU!
Looks like we’re going to be stuck here for a while./You call this luck? No, this is all skill.
No one was prepared when the crash of thunder shook the studio building and the lights flickered out. The cameras followed suit, along with all the other equipment, and everyone breathed a sigh of relief over the fact they hadn't been filming any stunts that day and none of the actors in need of the more labor intensive costumes had been fitted yet as it was still early in the day.
“IS EVERYONE OK!?” Niu Mowang yelled out, his voice carrying through the now quiet set easily without the noise of the electronic equipment (as expected for the actor of the Demon Bull King, he needed that stage presence and it seemed to be coming in useful). “SOUND OFF!”
“I’m ok!” “Me too!” “Whoever has a phone turn on your flashlight!” “IT’S FUCKIN DARK AS SHIT.”
The last one was said by Long Xiaojiao, earning a chorus of surprised and grateful laughter as multiple people did as requested by the director. The lights helped a bit, making it at least possible for those around the set to move to a slightly safer location. They all jumped as another thunder clasp struck closer, truly shaking the entire building this time and making even the most sturdy of them shake in worry.
After another moment of darkness there was a flicker and a low hum as the dim emergency lighting for the set building came to life.
“Alright everyone, that 'little storm' they called for today is apparently way more intense than they claimed it would be,” the director said with a frustrated and worried sigh, and everyone was thankful they had moved everything they needed inside the day prior in preparation. “Looks like we’re going to be stuck here for a while, given the emergency lighting. Hey!" He turned to another staff member, pulling out his phone in the process. "Can you and the new guy help me call the rest of the cast and tell em to stay put? Alright, thanks!"
“I'll call my dad,” Qi Xiaotian yelled back to the director, looking at his own phone and appearing grateful they still had some signal.
He had come in along with Xiaojiao and anothered cast member ahead of most others (aside from Mowang, who had come in early alone for his... own reasons) to apparently work on some last minute changes to the script that had been left with the young actor the night prior. He supposed that when the script writer was dating your father it made working on that kind of thing much faster (and boy was everyone happy they finally started outright dating, Mowang was starting to worry someone else would have to set them up with each other).
"Which one?" Xiaojiao asked with a chuckle and soft nudge to his shoulder, both jumping at another building shaking thunder clap. "Uh... maybe I should call my folks too... just to let them know what's up."
Mowang sighed, watching at the two youngest members of the cast that had already come in for filming that day moved around to another part of the set to sit and call their respective guardians. This was... odd. The storm was only supposed to last a short while and be no stronger than the normal thunderstorms they got in the area. By the time they were done filming inside the storm should have subsided... but the sounds outside made him second guess if they could even leave on time safely. Normal thunderstorms do not shake buildings this hard or come on this fast.
In the middle of his thoughts the large man felt the brush of a smaller hand on his arm as someone sumbled, startling him into looking over and reaching out a hand to steady them reflexively.
"Mr. Cheung?" Mowang raised a brow as he caught the clearly worried expression on his face. "Is everything alright?"
"Oh, yeah! Totally fine, peachy even!" Dicky Cheung, their very own Sun Wukong (and Mowang still wondered after all this time about what his full proper name was, given Dicky was apparently a stage name and Cheung was his family name, but he hadn’t found the right moment to ask), answered with an overly happy chuckle and a shake of his head. "Just, uh, tripped a bit!"
Well that was... odd. He normally was a lot more poised than this. And as far as any of the actors on set knew he wasn't particularly scared of storms.
"Are you sure you're OK? You seem agitated," Mowang raised an eyebrow, noting that the other man was watching Xiaotian and Xiaojiao. Maybe he was just worried about the younger cast members? "Have you had anything to eat this morning?"
"Huh?" Mr. Cheung looking up at him with a raised brow of his own, confusion lacing his features for a moment before he looked off into the distance and frowned. "... actually... I think I forgot breakfast..?"
"Well that won't do!" Mowang scowled with a sigh, placing a hand on Mr. Cheung's back and firmly leading him toward the refreshment table. "You get to tell me how I did then."
"How you what no-Oh!" His question was answered as quickly as it had been asked, and Mr. Cheung couldn't seem to help his laugh. "So that's why you came in early."
"I wanted it to be a surprise, but it looks like we got a bigger one," the larger man said with a chuckle, picking up a thick slice of one of the bread loafs himself. "It's my first time trying to make some of these."
"I bet Tie Shan would have been extremely impressed," Mr. Cheung said with a smile before grabbing a piece from a different loaf and taking a large bite, making a pleased sound in response. "There are peach chunks in this!"
"I, uh, thought you'd like that one... guess I got lucky," Mowang couldn't help bit stumble his words a bit and blush at the reaction and mention of Shan before eating his sweet potato bread. The batch had turned out good! A little heavy, but good. "You think the young-uns would feel a bit better if they had a snack?" He nodded his head to Xiaotian and Xiaojiao, watching as another clasp of thunder shook them again and the young man un particular held onto his friend like a lifeline.
"You call this luck?" Mr. Cheung seemed to have tensed again, but his tone was light and his smile was more relaxed. "No, this is all skill. You need to give yourself more credit off the stage. And I bet they would."
He flashed his signature bright smile before rushing over to the younger actors, saying something to Xiaotian after Xiaojiao rushed off to possibly tell everyone else about the snacks. Mowang could have sworn he heard something about someone "messing with and angering a demon who could control the weather", but that had to be a metaphor of some kind.
After an hour no one could figure out where Dicky Cheung had disappeared to until he reappeared after the storm finally let up. He looked fine but... Mowang could have sworn he had changed into similar but not identical clothes and his hair was wet...
Weird.
