We'll just go with Pariah Dark hated cats. I guess. Dunno. Didn't get that far. But I think Vlad would recruit Jazz to try and rehabilitate Danny for the living realm. Which means close contact with people, so start with something small and furry. But it's his first exposure to cats. Or at least his first exposure to a living cat that hasn't become enraged and strengthened in the Ghost Zone.

I don’t think people talk enough about the aftermath of Danny’s fight against evil!Danny (aka Dan) in ultimate enemy. like dude had just learned that he has an evil double from a future in which he became the most powerful ghost around, who had rid himself of his humanity in order to not feel the immense heartache he felt after his entire family and friends died in an explosion, with which his teacher was talking to his parents about the fact he had copied a very important test. Which had greatly stressed him out, cause it was about what you would want to do when you grow up, and what job and career he would want to pursue in life (this test subject did NOT age well at all)
Now here’s some problems with this, 1: Danny is FOURTEEN YEARS OLD and shouldn’t be worrying about what kinda career he would want as a living when he’s not even old enough to drive a car. This test would have at least been appropriate if he was, say seventeen or eighteen, like around the age he where he would possibly be looking for a job. I understand that times were different when this episode was made, but rationally speaking this test was for sure made for older students, and I don’t think Danny should have been given this test.
2: HE’S HALF GHOST! Like yeah if you could brush off what I had said above and be like “beanie, that’s probably what the school worked back then, no need to get so uptight about an early 2000’s cartoon.” In which I’d say, yeah, I probably am taking this a little seriously, but try telling everyone else in this phantom that who have made wonderfull art and au’s and fics centered around some small crumbs of info from the show and say “you’re taking this too seriously.” And you’d probably get the internet equivalent to a pie yo the face.
Anyways back to what I was saying, sure the school doesn’t know about Danny being a halfa (and neither does every other character besides Danny’s friends and his sister) but my point is that the test asking “what job/career do you want to pursue in the future?” Wouldn’t have possibly made Danny think about the fact that Danny’s basically half dead, and any job or career he would have would be pretty difficult when he constantly has to keep his ghost half a secret for the rest of his life, and that’s even implying he can even age after the incident with the ghost portal (which as we know with Dan, he in fact can keep aging, but even then I think he can only age to a certain point until his ghost genes tell him to stop, like around his late or early twenty’s)
So that’s A LOT of existentialism to give to a child from one simple test, and to further put salt into an already open wound, one of the characters even said that if “you fail the test then you’d have to work at nasty Burger” like what the actual fuck?? Like I know these teachers want their students to succeed in life, but realistically speaking if this type of situation happened in real life (and it most likely did, bless the poor souls that had to endure that.) that’s how you get people taking their own life. Which I know is pretty dark, but you try being happy and chipper after hearing about the possibility that if you failed this ONE test you would be nothing but an ugly stain in the job industry, I would actually cry if I was in that situation.
In short, the test Danny was given was a big part as to why evil Dan was brought into existence in the first place, and the events that happened to have Dan to become who he is is both funny and extremely depressing.

Sooo I had this idea most likely inspired by a bunch of other fanfics I read...
Follow up part: 2
Ghost kid in Gotham
The Beginning
So far Danny counted two times in his live that he had died or at least sort of remembered dying.
The first time he died, he had been eight and in an horrible turn of events was forced into a fight to death with his twin. All because Danny couldn't be like his brother. He couldn't kill, he continuously nearly fails his missions if it weren't for his twin finishing of targets that were supposed to be his. The league had seen him as the black sheep of the family. He was no assassin material yet his twin brother still protected and adored him. But then their grandfather saw how he became a weakness for the true heir. All because Danny couldn't get his shit together during one mission they were sent on together. Resulting in his twin sustaining an injury.
So Danny was sentenced to death in an obvious fight the entire league knew he could nore would ever want to win. The fight had drawn out his twin at least attempting to get him to fight back to show their family that he was worth keeping by showing his skills, even if Danny couldn't kill, he could still fight excellently. But Danny didn't play along, instead he let his brother kill him with the final blow. He didn't even bother attempting to dodge.
His first death had probably been very cruel towards his brother, but at least it meant that his twin, Damien would live on.
Though he didn't expect that right before his body could grow cold forever, that their mothers still had somewhat of a heart and dunked him into the pits and revive Danny the first time. (Only later through Clockwork did Danny learn that he had been dropped in a pit of contaminated ectoplasm which probably was also the reason he even survived - well sort of survived - his second death)
He did come out as a feral kid though he barely remembered his time at the Chicago Orphanage. His former parents the Fantons had told him that he had been a feral kid the first year they had him. Apparently for the longest time Jazz had been the only one that could touch let alone get in hugging distance of Danny without getting bitten. Jack liked to show off the bite marks as lovely memories his sweet little Danno gave him the first time he hugged eight years old Danny.
The second time he died, he had been 14 and to this day he still thinks that a dare was one of the dumbest things one could die from. Of course his adopted parents weren't normal. They were ecto-scientists, studying ghosts or rather ecto-entities. And of course they were treading the line of mad-scientists with an entire lap in the basement and ecto-weaponry laying out and about throughout the entire house.
So when his parents build a portal to punch their way into another dimension that didn't work his friends just had to dare him to get in there to take a photo - or had it been a video - of it.
Who would have guests that the on batten was inside the damn thing instead of outside and that his stumbling and catching himself on the damned button would just so happen to punch open that portal with him in the middle of it all.
Let him tell you, getting electrocuted was not a fun way to day, nor is getting revived yet again by ectoplasm that was spewing out of the portal and mixing with his DNA. At least he got some cool powers from that accident and did not go feral like he did the first time round.
Danny shuddered, imaging if he had gone feral back then with Phantoms powers. Good he truly would have been the menace Amity still couldn't decide if he was or not.
Either way that were the two time he counted in his death tolls so far. Of course there were a couple of other times. Like that one time Sam made a wish. But he didn't really count them since well they didn't have any sort of big change that followed them.
But right now. He was probably close to his third accounted death. Strapped to the table. His chest pretty much sliced open and he was pretty sure that one of the tubes on the table across the room still contained his liver his Mo- Maddie had taken out and the other his arm that had been cut off by Agent K to test his healing.
Well he should have known better than to let his sister convince him that his adoptive parents would turn on him. Looks like that with their working with the GIW and him on the table they had finally broken the last bits of trust both Jazz and him had in them.
Danny had long lost the energy to plead with them, that it was still him. At least he would be a full ghost once the bloodless and missing limbs did him in. Really his human body wasn't as resistent as his ghost body. But at least staying in human form would protect his core. Really the worst that could happen was his human side dying right now.
Letting out a mute sigh Danny closed his eyes letting exhaustion take his mind into oblivion. The only sad thing was, that he never got to find out how his twin Damien was doing and if he was still with the league…
TIME OUT
When Clockwork first had set the path for this timeline he did not realize how damaging his king's parents' reaction was. As he looked at his king strapped to the table, cut open and even missing limbs, he for a brief moment regretted that he only ever watched the timelines and sent others to intervene. Rarely did he himself interfere but this time he had to. Otherwise his king would lose the part that made him the kindest among all the ghosts in the Infinit Realms.
Carefully he removed his king from the chains holding him down and took him with him. Away from the horrors he was facing and away from the Family that was supposed to preserve his king's kindness and humanity.
It looked like he had made a grave mistake but it was something that was still possible to fix. The timeline had yet to turn into a doomed one. And so Clockwork decided to take his king away and bring him to a place that would have a close amount of ectoplasm as Amity had as well as one of the strongest Spirits in existence to protect him until he was ready.
Looking down at the teen in his arms, Clockwork also decided that his king did not need the painful memories his supposed family gave him. A blue light engulfed his kind as Clockwork let his powers work. Turning the clock back only for his king. The missing limbs returned and his open wounds closed as the body in his arms shrunk.
In mere seconds the Master of time was holding his king at the age of his first death in his arms, yet the state was not the same. The scars of his second death were still present, telling that his powers as halfa were still present in his king's small bodies. With this his king would be ready to be dropped off to his next family. Hopefully Clockwork wasn't making a mistake again but keeping his king truly safe this time.
TIME IN
Lady Gothem was not impressed with the Master of Time as that old man dropped off the body of their king with little to no explanation. Last she knew her king was supposed to be a teenager, a halfa so powerful that the Infinite Realms were supposed to become a much safer place than they ever had been under any of the previous kings.
All the Master of Time had offered her was a cryptic - and honestly when was that old cogwheel not - message of protecting his king and returning him to his family. Really the next time she they meet she would not miss the chance to lecture Cronus. But for now she studied the young sleeping king in her arms, noting the similarities he held to the youngest of her knights.
Ah, so that was the family the old cogwheel meant. Well it looked that her knights were not only hers alone now but would also protect her king now. But who to bring him too, she mused. Surely her dearest among them would have no qualms taking the child in but he was currently not in their home. The little knights of other haunts have requested his help and called him away to that watchtower.
Mentally the city's spirit went through all her knights until her thoughts stopped by one in particular. The knight she was going to request help with from her king anyway. What better way was there than taking care of two problems with one action. He would surely take that child to the others as well as receive her king's help with his little contamination problem.
With her decision made, Lady Gothom made her move.

Dp X DC prompt. Asterix and Obelix in the Midwest but make it ghostly.
The whole world considers ectoplasm a life-threatening toxin but Amity Park is..different.
Maybe you heard that the magic ecto-potion brewed by Getafix Fentons gives the Gaulish warriors civilians superhuman strength.
When another supervillain uses his super-powered army to take over the world the Justice League is preoccupied with protecting the Cities. So heroes end the battle with a heavy heart and approach Amity Park, far from other settlements, thinking that all they can do is try to save possible survivors
..but they see the villains running in terror from the crowd of green-eyed schoolers.
~~~~
Maddie and Jack Fanton stand outside their house with a tub full of ectoplasm and give a shot of a spetial coctail for everyone.
~~~~
Maddie: The Justice League? But we didn’t call anyone...I mean, you all are doing some pretty dangerous stuff, and we’ve got nothing but a little Level F attack in the morning.
The Flash sees the old lady which takes her purse from freshly battered outlander.
Old Lady: I'll teach you some manners!
Flash:..
Maddie: Ida! Nice to meet you. Sam didn’t let Danny drink ectoplasm again?
Ida: Maddie, how can I know? Teenagers are so active.
Maddie: Sorry, Mr. Flash, I'm losing this conversation. Our Danny fell into an ectoplasm tank as a kid, and Jack and I have been trying to control how much he drinks since. Where were we? Whatever, we promise that ectoplasm does not have a poisonous effect in therapeutic doses.
Flash: What about Danny, huh?
A teenager with white hair turns his neck at an unnatural angle and hisses at the hero.
Jack: What do you mean? My boy is absolutely fine.
Flash: Okaaay. But can I talk to the mayor? Jack: Sure, wait till Vladdy’s done fooling around with Danno.
The man points his head to a freak who looks like Dracula and also fight with the teen who disappeared before Flash’s eyes. He swears the kid was just here.
Flash: You know what, I'm not gonna bother them.

DP x DC Phantom Punk: Rowdy 3
Back on my Punk Danny agenda
So, Danny is not like your typical ghost, and thus, Dan and Dani, aren't either. Most ghosts can coast by naturally and just exist outside the GZ despite the lack of ectoplasm, as long as they don't go overboard
The Phantoms?
They need more. It's not normal to need that much ectoplasm, but after a series of incidents where both the Fanton's and Vlad's portals no longer exist, they're a little screwed
So, what's a trio of Punk ghosts to do?
Luckly, there is a way to supplement their energy, and they learned it from a less than savory source... Spectra. Spectra feeds off of emotions, misery, anxiety and depression being her bread and butter. Now, technically any emotion will do, it just has to be heightened for them to get anything out of it. Joy and euphoria can work, but it's hard to consistently produce those emotions and feed. Things like fear and anger are easier to produce, but come with some... ethical issues
Their solution? Get it from people who deserve it
So, Dan, Danny, Dani, and [insert fourth character here, maybe Jazz? Sam would probably be down, remember to delete placeholder] hop into a heavily graffitied GAV and drive to Gotham. Living out of the GAV, Decked out in leather, spikes and denim, they roll into the most crime ridden city in the world and proceed to find random goons and criminals homes, bust the place up, make them nearly shit their pants and then feed off the fear and anger of these career criminals
Meanwhile, the Bats keep showing up at the scene just after they scram and keep having to deal with the aftermath
The inspiration is the rowdy 3 from Dirk Gently's Holistic Dectective Agency, if you are not familiar with my favorite punk energy vampires, allow me to educate you (only watch to the two minute mark if you want to avoid spoilers for the show)

Casper high meets dani
So dani comes to visit for the summer
At this point all of danny secrets are known to his parents, and he had to restrain maddie from turning vlad into a full ghost
So casper high sees the gender swap of fenton and are wondering WTF
So they the fentons amd dani says she was sent to juvie for attempted Fractureside(how do you spell it???)
They look between the 2 twins and are SO concerned but terrified to ask
Over the school day dani is being the weirdest little shit
She hangs upside down on desks, dose cartwheels in the hall, wes tried to call fenton phantom again and she stared him in the eyes an just kept stepping foreward until she pushed him out of the hall and onto the football field, she cut up all the homework papers in Mr.Lancers class, hit a student with a lunch tray and kept asking fenton if it was soup time
...
The next day ALL of casper high students were thanking fento and saying he's the better one
And they all had a silent agreement to never call fanton weird again...
It could have been sooooo much worse
a good comic that inspired this:

Quick Q: How many fanfics that have annoying you the most with the cross over with Danny and Batman with the bat kids-(if we cam called them kids, lol)?
To be honest, I have read a lot of them or so into the crossover, yet the fanfic I had see so far, are half ok, not over use with “Danny’s bio father is Bruce and his mother is whatever they use as the mother, plus how Danny got into the Fanton’s family, etc.”
I'm gonna take some advice from a friend and reply to this ask with a good faith interpretation.
I won't lie, there are some fics that are just not for me. But I also don't want to stop anyone from enjoying the fic tropes that they love. Yes, there are a lot of "Bruce Wayne is Danny's bio father" fics, but there are also a lot of Titans Tower AUs and you can bet your ass I will devour those fics like a dying man in the desert. The reason there are so many fics with the same trope is because people enjoy those stories, so why wouldn't they want to write more of them?
Sometimes tropes will be hit-or-miss for me. Jazz/Jason are hit-or-miss for me, summoning fics are hit-or-miss for me, de-aged Danny fics are hit-or-miss for me. But I never get annoyed that there are so many of them, I just have to learn to be more selective with my reading choices. And that's one of the great things about having a wide selection of the same type of story- you get to be a little picky. You can go: "Oh I'm not in the mood for this right now" or "Oh I like this interpretation more, I think I'll stick to these kinds from now on".
And if it's still not for you, then it's not for you! The one trope that I can never seem to get into is Dan Phantom Redemption fics. Most of that stems from how much I adore him as a villain and reflection to Danny. But I have good friends that like to explore his character that way. Good for them! I might not read it, but they understand not to take it personally.
At the end of the day, I'm a fanfic writer too. If I want to read something so specific that badly then I should take it upon myself and write it. Would it be easier if someone else wrote it for me? Abso-fucking-lutely, but it goes back to respecting 'to each their own' and leaving it at that.

I'm a sucker for danny fanton like the next guy but
Reading all those posts with "danny the king of i-can't-remember-the-title" and "he being more dead then everyone else" is so funny to me bc i distinctly remember many fart jokes in the series.
It's a very NOT edgy series for something about ghosts and death.
(and plz don't forget sam and taker they are an essential part of danny (dc let's be real he doesn't have a personality))

What is your opinion on Danny Phantom: A Glitch in Time?
Seeing, its positive reception, I am a little worried to say I don't like it.
[Spoiler]
There is so many concept to explore about Danny Phantom post-Phantom Planet, but this comic decided to focus on one of the most popular fan favourite story, Dark Danny from the future. (I know he was supposed to return for the series finale before Butch Hartman wanted the series to be lighter). And it does so while also adding sub-plots of Vlad/Dark Danny redemption, and (on a lesser degree) Ghost King. All of these are popular points that I do not care for.
It is truly a waste that it did not explore what possible deal Vlad had with Fright Knight. There is only one dialogue saying that the deal was off.
It is kind of too blatant with its fan service. I know the saying, "Let's pretend Phantom Planet did not exist." and this comic executes it literally.
It is an excuse to reset the universe and resume the status quo of the show. I know this show is inspired by Spider-man, but why follow this universe resetting gimmick.
I never like time travel story for this reason.
Also, I think the angst of Danny's parents hunting him down is getting tiring. By season 3 we and Danny should have already known that if they ever find out, they'd still love him. If memory serves, it is in "Masters of All Time" and "Reality Trip".
Why should Danny wipe his parents' memory at the end of "Reality Trip"? His reasoning is beyond me. I firmly believe that it is because Butch Hartman took over season 3 and instead of creating a new show status quo with his parents helping him, the production deemed it easier to just reset it back.
It is frustrating that Danny, once again, agree to let his parents hate ghost him, for absolutely no reason.
It has all I don't like, redemption story, universe resetting, loose ends that got buried, no Dani (although it is possible she will return), evil? Valerie that now exist outside time.
The quality is strange. It does have truly beautiful art style, bes illustrated by the great fight panels, but it also has low quality screenshot from the show as back ground. It is really noticeable in certain angle of Fanton Lab, Pariah's keep, etc.

So I've had this idea of a sister for Danny that is around the same age as him one to two years younger (I actually really dislike the Fanton parents) so the idea is she gets kidnapped when she's younger parents don't notice jazz is the one to report it and Danny has no idea because why would he they are too busy with their work really explain what happened once he's old enough She has no friends she will also disappear and reappear at different times but she will appear out of nowhere to help mess with Vlad I think to explain her being a halfo is she was trying to make friends with Danny's friends so perhaps she could hang out with her brother more something when she puts on the Hazmat suit she puts on jacket and mask as a joke to make it look like she's some sort of hero in a villain lab
Oh??? Another Fenton kid??? The chaos that could happen. I personally enjoy a Good Fenton Parents AU, but the sheer emotional distress you can put someone through with the Bad Parents AU is astronomical. This is perfect for making someone cry.
How would everyone react to this third Fenton child? Is it like an open secret in the town? “Oh yeah, and those are the Fentons. They’re the resident ghost hunters and also they got rid of one of their children. We think.”
Did the kid try to pull the “I’m running away!” card that some children like to pull, but something happened and she never came back? Is that the part where she was kidnapped? Was it Jazz or Danny’s fault she left in the first place, and that guilt eats them up? Imagine it’s been a few years and she just…shows up. They don’t really know what happened but the kid is banned from three countries and has the Italian mob on speed dial.
How would this third kid and Dani get along???

great point! in june 2019, robert kraft was awarded the genesis prize, which is "an annual $1 million award that honors living Jewish individuals who have attained international renown in their chosen professional fields, are proud of their Jewish heritage, care about the future of the Jewish people and the State of Israel, and inspire young people to make the world a better place." he used the prize money to establish the kraft foundation to stop hate.
the genesis prize foundation is an israeli non-profit organization established in 2013. while the israeli government does not officially run the foundation nor do they choose the recipient, they were involved in its inception (x, x). the winner is announced each year at the home of the israeli president. the foundation was also funded by five russian jews; at least one founding member has a direct tie to putin and the russian government. the founders appear to have conservative politics, alongside some of the prize's previous recipients, such as michael bloomberg.
today, the public (jews and non-jews alike) can vote on the recipient; afterwards, the laureate is selected by the genesis prize leadership. although multiple advisory board and selection committee members have ties to the israeli government, only one member currently holds a position - danny dannon, who is on the knesset. other members have no political ties to the israeli government, including committee member rabbi laura janner-klausner, the former senior rabbi to reform judaism, UK, and jonathan fanton, a former president of the american academy of arts and sciences. (these members have varied political stances, which you are free to research on your own time.)
tl;dr - while dannon's involvement does imply political motive, there isn't conclusive information about the israeli government's involvement in the selection process. (if i missed something critical, absolutely send me a link.) however, i really don't think this information is relevant to my original post as the recipients themselves choose where to direct the prize money. robert kraft directed his funds to launch “Speak Out for Israel,' a global campaign to promote a true narrative about Israel and counteract efforts to delegitimize the Jewish State. The campaign awarded grants to 26 organizations." kraft also used some prize money to establish fcas; he and other independent donators supplied the rest of the necessary funds.
some people may not want to support robert kraft's foundation after learning this information; i won't put words into his mouth, but his views do seem to align with political zionism, which i am personally opposed to. for more information on the foundation's pro-israel stance. check out their newsletter. however, neither kraft's stance on israel nor the details i included above negate my original point: the ad was about antisemitism, not israel or the war in gaza. people saw this message and immediately bought into antisemitic conspiracy theories without doing any factchecking. buying into antisemitic conspiracy theories harms both jews and palestinians, as they obfuscate both 1) real antisemitic hate crimes vs. claims that aim to suppress palestinian activism, and 2) who has the power to make real, tangibles changes in the levant region.
"but wait, you literally did prove a direct link between kraft's foundation and the israeli government!" no, i traced the foundation's connection to the israeli government through the genesis award. i did not find conclusive evidence that the israeli government paid robert kraft to produce that ad, which is what the tag implies. this is why i was so wildly pedantic in my fact-checking just now. more than likely, kraft felt compelled by the documented rising antisemitism in the united states since the events on october 7, 2023, but we cannot know his exact intentions, as we are not in his brain. i suppose i can't stop you from believing the ad had a nefarious zionist intent; i can only hope you'll challenge the assumption that challenging antisemitism = zionist propoganda, feel more compelled to break down antisemitic conspiracy theories, and stop making the internet a miserable place for jews everywhere.
tl;dr 2 - i'm actually glad this tag brought this up! i appreciated the opportunity to become more informed + share this information to folks who stumble across this post.
hey so. i’ve seen many people reblogging some variation of “israel spent millions on a superbowl ad to distract everyone from the airstrikes on rafah” and decided to do some fact-checking. the ad was produced by the kraft foundation to stop jewish hate, founded by robert kraft, who owns the patriots. kraft also partnered with dr. clarence b. jones—who advised dr. martin king luther jr and helped him write the i have a dream speech—to create this ad. according to tara levine, the fcas president, this ad was made in response to rising antisemitism on social media platforms, which her team tracks.
here’s a link to the foundation’s about page on their website. their mission statement solely focuses on combatting antisemitism and does not mention i/p or the ongoing war. the ad itself does not mention i/p or the ongoing war. it’s pretty ironic, and yet not surprising, that an ad created to stop antisemitism is currently the eye of the antisemitic storm on social media. if you sincerely believe netanyahu secretly funded this ad campaign to “distract everyone” from the idf’s airstrike attack in rafa, then you have bought into two different antisemitic conspiracy theories: that jews control the media and that diasporic jews have dual loyalty to israel. while political zionists have used accusations of antisemitism to invalidate pro-palestinian efforts, that’s not what’s happening here. all this information is obtainable via google. please learn to fact check yourselves before posting. thanks!
(bonus: here’s a 20-minute video where kraft and dr. jones discuss the civil rights movement, anti-black racism, antisemitism, and the history of solidarity between black and jewish activists during the civil rights movement. very cool!)

I enjoyed it, in short. Satisfying sports story, a solid message, decent humour and a serviceable cast. Emilio Estevez is fine in the role of Gordon, he’s definitely the best actor on display here. The numerous child actors are all alright, Shaun Weiss (Goldberg) is the one who stands out in my memory most. A nice little film about a local, youth ice hockey team, one for the family.

DPxDC Family Week June 19 (Day 2)
Prompt: Siblings | Play
A/N: All I gotta say is this was heavily inspired by Wayne Family Adventures. I think I focused more no the Play prompt than Siblings, either way please enjoy my Day 2 contribution :D
AO3 Link: DPxDC Family Week Contributions
Danny was in a tricky situation. He carefully checked his surroundings as he crouched behind a bookshelves to reload. The Meta Alliance was off the table. Duke got taken out by Dick. He had seen Damian hunting down Tim earlier, muttering something about using the same trick again despite his warning. Jason was still wandering the halls in search of him loudly offering Danny a new Alliance promising that he wouldn't be shot on sight. He had lost sight of Cass earlier but he knew Steph was hiding on the second floor waiting for Jason to take revenge.
When Dick had come to him and Jazz earlier that day Danny did not expect for the oldest Wayne to hand them each a paintball gun with a wide grin. Only for them to suggest taking part in a game they played every year called Assassin. It was apparently a secret from Bruce that only the children of Bruce Wayne aka Batman took part in.
He had been suspicious of it at first, Jazz and him had only joined the Family for a couple of months now and Dick had suggested they join the game as a bonding experience between siblings with the rest of the family. When Danny didn't let up on his suspicious staring he also offered that it was a way to train and test Danny's stealth against his new siblings.
Only partly convinced, at least in Danny's case, they had joined. The moment they entered the sitting room everyone else was in, Harper, last year's winner according to the others, decided to start with a special alliance to ease Jazz into the game. Only for her to get accidentally taken out. She had made the mistake of forming the alliance with all the girls including Jazz, without prior information that till then only Danny had been privileged to with how often his own sister had souped him. To Harper's credit, she didn't know about the bad aim his sister inherited from their dad. The girl alliance got pretty quickly dissolved then and the Fanton siblings formed a new one, since Danny knew best how bad of a shot Jazz was.
Though Danny additionally had the one with Duke until he got taken out. They honestly had thought that with their Meta-powers they could overwhelm the others. Hell they were a power duo on patrols, this should have been easy. That was until Dick got Duke and Duke in all the dramatic sibling fashion 'died' in a distracting way that made Dick and Danny laugh only for the Ghost to then escape.
"AH FUCK!" Looks like Jason got taken out now too from the sounds of it. Danny didn't stay to find out who took the revenant out. He went invisible and phased through the wall behind him and floated up a floor through it. Carefully to avoid Bruce as well as Alfred so that the two adults shouldn't grow suspicious. Suddenly there was rusting behind him and Danny turned around quickly. He was still invisible so aside from Duke no one should be able to see him right now.
"I know you're here Danny. Show yourself."
"You're wearing your mask with heat-vision?" The question came out before he could help himself as he stared at Tim. Both his hands raised as he held them up, showing that he meant no harm, his paintball gun in his right hand pointing at the ceiling for extra measures while Tim was grinning at him with his gun pointed at Danny.
"Your body temperature is lower than the average human one, especially when you use your powers. It's the easiest way to find you since it was decided that both you and Duke were allowed to use them."
"I see." Danny nodded along. "I take it, you want to take me out right now?"
"If you don't agree to my proposal. Help me take out Damian and Cass."
Danny hummed thinking about it for a second before he noticed movement from the corner of the hall. He grinned, shrugging with his shoulders. "I would but… sorry maybe next time!"
He let himself fall through the floor as Tim cried out, blue splotches on his back appearing. Danny barely missed getting shot too as he fell onto the first floor. An orange splatter left on the wall at the height his chest had been mere seconds ago. Cass standing at the end of the hall as they made one final eye contact before he completely disappeared from sight through the floor.
But he did not get a second of rest as he fell into one of the down stairs sitting rooms. The moment he was through the ceiling and made eye contact with a stunned but then grinning assailant. He flipped to the side barely dodging the colorful rounds shot at him and aimed his own gun. Ten shots, nine missing but the last one finally got his target's leg.
"Gotcha!" He cheered as he floated down grinning brightly at Dick.
"Not bad baby ghost. I didn't expect you and Jazz to be this good. Sure you guys didn't have formal training?" Inspecting his leg the elder smiled, happy at seeing Danny enjoying himself this freely. He still remembered the first month in which Danny barely spoke to anyone aside from his sister. Dick had been a bit worried when he asked the Fanton kids to join their game but he was glad that he did now. The Fantons had come a long way and it appeared that they finally saw the rest of the Waynes as siblings too.
"No, everything is self thought. Though, Jazz hitting Harper was totally an accident considering she had been aiming at-" Their phones buzzed and both each took their own out. Dick whistled. "Baby bird took out Steph. So now it's only you, Jazz, Dami and Cass left. Looks like this year's game will even be over before patrol starts."
"Did it take longer last year?"
Dick nodded. "It went right into patrol time. But maybe it's getting over faster this year because everyone is at the Manor." He didn't mention that he had specifically asked the others to not draw out the game too long. Despite the couple of months, Danny and Jazz were still new to Gotham and the family and they both didn't need distractions during patrol and support.
"Speaking of being at the Manor. Why hasn't Alfred said anything about the paint splatters yet? He is omnipresent, I thought he would be the first to notice." The halfa tilted his head in light confusion. Really with the way Alfred always knew what was going on in the Manor Danny had long since expected for the butler to gather them all to give them a stern talking about playing with paintball guns inside the building.
"It's fine as long as we clean up after ourselves." He raised an eyebrow and Dick rubbed his neck nervously. "And as long as we don't go overboard and damage anything permanently. Besides, sometimes Alfred even ends up joining in on these games to teach us a lesson or to get back at us for all the grief we gave him with injuries in the past."
Danny raised a suspicious eyebrow. "He… won't just do that this time, will he?"
"Nope, but we should clean up here before Bruce comes back. It also helps that most of us only shoot when we are sure that we will hit the others and not something else." Danny nodded, muttering an embarrassed 'sorry' remembering how he let more than one shot lose at his targets. Dick only chuckled, patting his head and offering a cloth piece to wipe the paint from the wall.
Once it was clean Danny gave a grinning Dick a little finger salute before going invisible again and leaving the room. There were only four players left. He wouldn't be able to find Cass but he could try and take out Daimien. Choosing to be as silent as possible Danny used his ghost powers to also float. He turned off his ghostly powers as he came across Bruce and Tim by the stairs. The man was asking Tim about the paint on his neck that he must have splattered there when Cass had taken him out earlier.
"Damian and I got into a disagreement when I passed his atelier earlier. He threw one of his paint brushes at me like a dart."
"Damian wouldn't just do that because of a simple disagreement. What sort of argument did you two get into this time, for it to art out like this?"
Danny frowned slightly. The others never had mentioned what would happen if Bruce found out. He hid his gun on his back under his hoodie.
"Hi Bruce, I think someone must have pissed him off at school. He threw one at me too, when I asked him what got him into a sour mood." Danny decided to add to the lie. Really the youngest stabbiness was a really nice trait that made these lies even more believable. Tim gave him a thumbs up for the support hidden from Bruce's eyes.
"Hello Danny. Maybe I should have a talk with Damian. I cannot have him bring another knife to school again." The man muttered with a sigh as he walked away from them. Tim and Danny grinned at each other before once again Danny saluted before making his way back to the second floor. He had a feeling that he would find Damian or Cass up there.
Hearing voices by the end of the hall where Damian's Atelier was, Danny decided to try and be sneaky. The door was only a gap wide open, he peaked into the room. It hadn't been long since he had meet Bruce with Tim by the stairs but apparently the man was quick with his actions. In the room were said man and the youngest Wayne, Bruce was apparently trying to get Damian to tell him why he was in a sour mood and hurl his paint brushes at his siblings.
Danny snickered, the man's back was to the door and he grinned the moment Damian noticed him peaking in by the door. He gave the youngest a little bit of a mocking wave with the addition of a wide grin as Damian scowled. Bruce apparently took it that Damian did not like the reinforced rule of no knives at school.
Still grinning the ghost boy pulled his gun from the back and aimed it through the door carefully so that Bruce wouldn't notice him. Damian was now flat out glaring deadly at him, daring him to do it in the presence of his father. Waiting for the right time Danny watched Bruce and when the man appeared to look at something at his side he fired a shot. Hitting the youngest square in the chest who quickly despite his deadly glare turned towards one of his unfinished pieces and grabbed some of his art supplies to explain that color splatter as a lapse of his own judgment and frustration of the topic they were discussing.
Danny definitely knew he would be paying for this action later. Damian wasn't as stabby with him like he was with others thanks to Danny's ghostly powers, but that only meant that the youngest was creative in other ways to get back at the halfa. Though right now it only mattered to Danny that he was able to get two of the bat-kids out of the game with no formal training. That grin was whiped of his face when he felt a short sting on his back and his head whipped around to see Cass behind him smiling brightly.
"Lacking situational awareness."
"Okay yea, that was my bad." Letting out a sight he admitted defeat as he in a bout of dramatic essence chose to lay flat on the ground only lifting his head a little to face an amused Cass. Taking out his phone he proceeded to text the group that he had taken out Damian but in return got taken out by Cass. Looks like Cass would be the winner this year, he commented into the chat.
"Finally found you Danny!" Looking up stunned as well as hearing shuffling towards the door from the Atelier Danny looked up to see Jazz standing by the end of the hall now her paintball gun aimed at Danny as Cass dived to the side away from him. Right, his sister was still in the game!
"Let me handle this!"
"Wait Jazz!"
Too late his sister fired multiple shots and in a feat the half ghost honestly thought impossible, the projectiles ricochet off of decorations, leaving small splatters of paint behind them everywhere. The door next to him opened and Danny stared wide eyes up at Bruce and Damian.
"What is going on-"
-splat-
At the end of the day Cass was declared the winner while Jazz was declared the honorary winner by being the first one to ever hit Bruce Wayne aka Batman square in the face with a paintball gun.
Though the siblings all got a stern talking to from the man for playing Assassin inside the Manor as well as Alfreds disappointed look™ that was followed by an amused smile whenever the butler side eyed Bruce. The smiles and looks all the siblings exchanged promised that next year's game would be filled with revenge plans. Maybe till then Jazz's aim would become better with the shooting classes Bruce decided to sign her up for with a knowing smile.

So anyway going back a bit, i imagine Jay is more emotionally stable in this. Like, dead-jay met phantom like, really soon after he formed. Like, he has been dead for a week and his ghost forms in the realms, and because Robin is, genuinely, magic, he keeps his memories of living! About six months in reality goes wonky for a second and a piece of jay (small, not enough to really notice) gets yeeted back into his revived body. About a year passes, danny and jay are super close, things are going good, danny gets ghost king and makes jay his fright night. The same time, talia finds jay in the hospital. Another year passes, lets go with bad fanton parents reveal where jay is injured in the rescue. Nothing life threatening, but it still scares danny, who is heavily injured.
This got so much longer then originally intended so imma add a read more lol
Two days later, jay is p mich healed but danny is still pretty messed up, and talia throws jay's body into the pit, which rips jay away from Danny's side and into his body. The pit fills that last bit of damage he took and fucks him up emotionally royally, blocks a lot of the realms information. He spends about a month in the throes of the pit rage before danny finaply tracks him down and has to trick him into going to see frostbite. Thankfully, he had JUST left for his world tour of training, so the loa doesn't catch wind of this. He gets cleansed, gets his memory back, knows not to trust talia or ras, but also. Being undead? And fright knight? And dating trhe king of the dead? Kinda fucks with your morals a little bit. U know? So he and danny go together to learn the skills and they spend like, the next two years travelling and training, and he is much better adjusted by the end of it, but still hurt and misses his dad. The main change for his takeover is that he makes it clear from the start that robin is one of the kids he will not tolerate his people touching. Jay makes it clear that his beef is with batman and Nightwing. He still goes to titans tower and fucks tim up pretty good, but it is clear from the start that he isn't there to genuinely maim or hurt the kid. He doesn't hold back, hence how tim ends up battered and bruised, but once he wins he helps tim back up and to the med bay and they end it not really as allies but def not enemies.
Jay is still just as brutal and violent with everyone else, he just keeps robin out of it.
Also to be clear on tim's age, i have him starting as robin around age 11? I think? By the time jay comes around it has been about 5 years give or take, so he is at least 16. Jay is 20, danny is 18? I think? Something like that.
But anyway, things are still violent and bloody. Danny is away for most of it. Jay wants to do this alone and danny has realms business he needs to see to anyway. They live together in an apartment in gotham that is literally impossibly to track down (perks of having powers lmao) so they still go home to each other, but they are super chill about doing separate things. They are both seeing ghost therapists, jay is aware the whole "me or him" thing is fucked up, but he also has it set up so that no matter whst B chooses, jay will make it out and joker will end up dead. He is supposed to, at least.
So going back to tim:
Tim def goes to B about the missing time and gets the timeline drawn up separately and realizes that sonething fishy is going down, so he goes to babs next to ask about the missing footage. She can't find it. She can find where it should be, but it's gone. Completely. I think his next step at that dead end would be to shift gears. The king of the dead, right? Well, who does he know that B knows as BATMAN who has potantial links to all involved parties? Superman has probably technically died at this point, probably a good number of league heroes have too, but supes has sorta a connection to the joker in that he stopped b from killing the guy once. Not strong but still possible, so he checks the guy's alibi and itrules him out. Next is maybe babs? But she was provably working as oracle on something separate and the king of the dead would only be a thing for her because her mom is dead. Not the kind of tie that would have him hunting b down for her. Jason though?
He doesn't know much about Jay's time dead and in the league. Knows the guy is sane, knows the guy was dead but is alive now, knows the joker killed him, and knows he has been working up to some big showdown between himself, B, and the Joker. He realizes that last point and is immediately like "i should have thought of him first" and goes to get some sleep about it.
Knows jay would refuse to answer any questions until he has, so he preemptively goes to do it.
So he goes to find jay the next day. Except. No one has seen him in a couple days. His gang is still running, he has called his higest level goons and has them running things, but no one has talked to him in person or seen him since the night if the missing footage.
Tim has a very bad feeling about this.
Tim goes to babs again, cause it is well established that she will fight b if he steps out of line, and he presents his findings and asks for help tracking Jay's movements for the lead up to the missing footage. They get his last known location and manage to find a cctv that captures him dragging joker into the warehouse.
They do not find anything with b on it, but that isn't surprising. What they do manage to find is a flash of light followed by some intense static for about twenty seconds before the video comes back as though nothing happened.
Tim tries to call jason again and gets nothing.
Babs calls dick to see if he knows anything he will tell her that he wouldn't share with tim. Babs calls b about the missing footage as though she just noticed it. Tim knows he absolutely shouldn't call the ghost king to ask why, but at this point he is pretty sure it has something to do with why jay hasn't been seen since then and why bruce wont talk about how he got the joker.
He confront B one more time about the footage and the joker and asks about jason specifically. He knows jay is a sore subject and usually off limits but he has to poke. B dismisses him on the first question, repeats his story about finding him in a warehouse for the second, and then gets pissy about the third. Doesn't yell, not at first, but definitely gets pissy and angry because tim knows how to press and jay has always been a surefire way to ruin B's emotional control.
I think B threatens to fire him, or something equally devastating to sixteen year old tim. Gets tim to drop it to his face, but he has been lying to batman successfully for five years now. He embezzled a fucking batmobile. He knows B is in the wrong here, he is going to get to the bottom of this.
So. He does the thing everyone told him not to do. He finds a way to send a missive to the ghost king. He asks, very politely, if he can have a few minutes to ask some questions because he is a detective first and foremost and B is lying about something pretty significant right now. Is clear that Phantom can set the terms, the time, the place, etc, and that he only requests it be after school lets out for the day (not that he gives a shit about high school, really), and that he not be forced to betray B, that he be given time and space to make his own decisions on the situation so he can be as objective as it is possible for him to be. He also asks, again very politely, if Jay is okay.
It's the last question that gets him a response. Jay wants to talk to the little bird, actually. He is trying to talk Danny down from immediate action against batman (he knows how important batman is to gotham and even though he hates the guy he still loves alfred and also his mom is gotham? And she loves batman? And since Jay is gonna be okay she isn't likely to see the bloodshed as worth the kind of pu ishment danny wants? At least while b is still alive.) And is actually genuinely touched that tim thought of him and knows tim suspects something and wants to talk to him about it, especially cause his opinion on B just plummeted and he is reevaluating how the guy treats tim and is realizing a lot of things and really wants to try and get tim out of there if he can. The dude slit his son's throat to save the man that killed said son, no way Jay thinks he should be trusted to look after another kid! Doesn't matter that said kid is already 16 and very independent and has been taking care of B for years now. All the more reason for jay to get the kid a better support network, and if that means being the guy's friend then he will do it!
So danny, at Jay's urging, brings tim to see jay in his room at the keep (they are staying in the zone for while jay heals and the keep is more comfortable for Jay's fire core then the far frozen). Tim takes one look at the bandages and is like "B did that, didn't he?" And now jay has to talk down TWO very angry peopke who care about jay and are very pissed at batman. Tim, at least, agrees that any reprimand while the dude is alive should be done by his peers in the living realm. He has some. Opinions. On what those should be. But def living realm justice for him at the moment. Tim successfully talks danny into rescinding the sacrifice order via "let him face justice in the human realm first. He will face your wrath and judgment eventually no matter what, why speed it up when the anticipation is going to fuck him up so thoroughly also?" He points out that at the end of the day, Batman is meant to peotect him from the pain of losing anyone else and with this one act, not only has he lost his son for good, but he lost his robin, he is going to lose many friends when they find out about it, he is probably going to lose the man who raised him, he will lose barbara, he might even lose dick, he might lose just about everything, because he couldn't handle gaining his son back if it meant he would just lose him again.
Cause i personally read that whole situation as Bruce never truely grieving Jason like he should have, never truely allowing himself to feel that pain and heal from it, so when Jason came back different it hit him two-fold: on one side, every time he saw jason he was only seeing the pieces that he lost and feeling that old pain just as cutting and fresh as when he died, and on the other, he was seeing the pieces that had changed and knowing that if he allowed himself to acknowledge that he still loves his son and wants to get to know this new version of him then he is only oepning himself up to losing him again. To me, Bruce's whole thing about Jason is rooted in his inability to truely allow himself to grieve what he lost coupled with the reluctance to open himself up to feeling that hurt again. It's why he was so awful to tim at first and i don't think the problem ever went away, it just took a back seat after he was forced to acknowledge how much he cares about Tim.
So anyway, tim brings his findings to babs so she can talk to dick while tim talks to alfred. Then the three of them present the case to the league the same time danny comes forward as phantom to explain that "no, I am not asking for batman anymore, but it isn't because I have forgiven. It is because I will Not Forget, no matter how long it takes for his time to come. You can have your protector for as long as he is alive. Once he dies... Once he dies it is my turn."
After all that tim ends up going red robin early (jay offers the call sign while they are brainstorming new costume and call sign designs while jay is still stuck in bed) and takes an interest in the community building aspects of Jay's gang, ends up doing some admin stuff money-wise. He and jay are honorary birds of prey members. Dick does a lot of travelling heroics, tours the world, goes back to his roots in that way until the black glove stuff starts happening and damian shows up. No less murder attempts on tim, since talia set those up, and Tim is pretty close with jay and danny at that point so he is super liminal, which comes with that increased durability, so it doesn't come nearly as close to killing him as before.
I think the bat family as a whole still exists, most of them still care about B on some level so they don't just cut him out completely. Tim gets emancipated early, i think, but still lives with B publicly. Alfred stays, but gets more vocal about calling B out and makes it clear that he is there for Tim and Steph (when does she die again? I don't remember...) and jay and dick and barb and cass. I think he joins cass in hong kong for a month or so right after it happens, as a vacation of sorts to help him figure out what he wants to do.
Black glove happens and B ends up globe trotting, Barb is galavanting with the birds of prey, dick is still travelling mostly with the titans but still, Cass is in hong kong, i think steph is dead(?), which leaves tim and jay as the only permanent gotham vigis. Danny steps in every once in a while to help if they need it, and Tim and Alfred move into the penthouse to be closer to the two of them. Damian's appearance brings B and Dick back and alf goes with them back to the manor, eventually Darkseid happens and B gets hit with that omega beam.
Since Tim is Not Dating the king of the dead and his fright knight, people take him seriously about B not being dead. He still goes on BruceQuest, and he still goes alone, but he has backup if he needs it. Battle for the cowl doesn't happen, Jay wants NOTHING to do with batman. Only reason he has a bat on his chest is because it turns him from Just Another Crime Boss to an actual Protector and makes the Community building efforts so much easier and more successful. Dick still waits a little too long to take up the cowl on his own, but once he does it goes fairly smooth. Tim leaves on BruceQuest and ends up isolating himself on accident and gets tangled up with the loa. Still loses his spleen cause im a fan of Making Tim Drake Suffer, but when he calls to check in with Danny and Jay about it Danny joins him invisibly in the LOA. They have a grand old time of making Ra's regret ever trying to manipulate Tim.
To explain why clockwork/danny couldn't just pluck bruce from the timestream and put him back: the Omega energy acts like oil to the water of clockwork's kind if time magic. It cloaks B's presence and makes it so if they tried to pluck him up it would just cause more problems.
If you want b to get his head out of his ass and reconcile with his kids, when he gets back would be a good time to do it. Tim saves his ass and is still like "ueah im still mad at you, this doesn't mean you get your kids back, fix your shit and I might consider it but no promises" and B does, actually, fix his shit about it.
I don't think Jay ever forgives him tho. I think jay (and danny) tolerate him like once or twice a year because Tim does eventually reconcile with him and he is important to tim, so they tolerate him, but they never like the dude.
I think Tim continues to Not Date danny and jay for several years before he finally makes the first move. He still runs WE, that is important to me. He likes to fuck with the tabloids by never clarifying his relationship status to them. It's great.
DPXDC prompt. Dead on main.
Okay, Danny’s revenge for Jason through the Joker murder is fine.
But imagine the wrath of the Ghost King who responds to a call for help from his boyfriend and finds Red Hood with his throat cut and bleeding. Aside from it, there’s a bloody batarang on the roof. And it just pisses the Phantom off. Bat just left main treasure of his core to die.
Danny is still terrified even when Frostbite confirms that Jason will survive. Dan’s future is still fresh in his memory. That’s probably why when the councilman takes him off hospital ward duty to clarify what His Majesty wants as the guarantor of the Peace Treaty with demon race and what price to set for summons from cults Danny answers without a second thought.
Phantom: Batman.
Ghost: From a cult, Your Majesty?
Councillors have long been accustomed to Phantom giving strange requests so that people would not have the opportunity to really summon him.
Phantom: From the cult, from demons, ghosts or elves. Whatever. I need Batman and I need him yesterday. I give any reward to whoever delivers him to me, the price will be fair.
Ghost: Your word is our command.
~~~~~
In Gotham it’s 4 AM when Constantine is calling an emergency Justice League meeting.
'What did you do, Bats?' Shazam asks with undisguised concern.
~~~~~
Bonus points if Jason has to teleport himself directly to the JL space station and stop his feral lover from murder. Yeah, this is definitely not how he planned to reveal who was hiding under the Red Hood.
