I'm so confused. Did they die? It doesn't really seem like they did. Is it a euphemism for something? I feel like I'm missing something

But that is the end of it. I suppose I will choose to believe that they just ran off somewhere and are fine, that seems like a plausible way to interpret that

So, overall thoughts

It was great! The art was wonderful, the story was interesting, and I do so love Asano and Hijirihara

This is less about the manga itself and more about the list I'm using but I don't really see why it was split up instead of just putting the whole thing after the anime

Next up is a bit unclear, aside from some shorts that seem like they're mainly just for jokes the only Danganronpa thing left is v3 for which my plan is to livestream it since I don't feel like this format would be particularly good or feasible for it.

The plan for livestreaming is to work my way through school mode and island mode in the first 2 games in order to get used to speaking, doing commentary, and using the program. During the stream I did yesterday I switched to school mode about halfway through

Other than that, I've been thinking a bit about what to liveblog after Danganronpa and I was thinking maybe Yugioh? I have read the manga but I know that the anime literally has entire additional arcs stuffed into weird places on top of other changes so it might still be worth doing. I am open to other suggestions though

Welcome to Danganronpabestgirls!

I’ve seen a handful of tournament blogs popping up and decided to join the fun, so I’m hosting a tournament to determine the favorite of Danganronpa’s female characters!

Rules/disclaimers(?) before I start:

This bracket will only include characters from the main games. Please please please do not ask me “Where’s [character from x novel]?” or “You forgot [obscure side character]?” I don’t know every single character ever mentioned in the franchise and it would take forever to add every single person, so I’m only including characters from the main games.

Similarly, please don’t ask me about gender discourse. I’ll make a short, one-day qualifier poll regarding Chihiro Fujisaki’s placement on the bracket once this gets some attention, but other than that I’m taking no requests.

The polls will last for one week before I reblog with the results. You can submit propaganda via an ask and I’ll tag it with the #propaganda tag. Try not to be too mean to each other in the notes while or after the polls are running <3

The “reasons” behind voting always feel like a source of conflict to me so I want to make something clear: this tournament is about which character is your favorite! It can be about personality, general aesthetic, how important they are to the plot— anything! This is no “which character is OBJECTIVELY the best” competition! This is about having fun! It’s a popularity vote— feel free to share what you love about the characters you pick!

On a more personal note, I’m pretty busy right now with schoolwork as I get further into the year. Result announcements or posting propaganda might take awhile! Please be patient with me as I am a human being who has to do other things.

Tournament Announcement!!

Have you ever sat and thought to yourself, out of all the murderers in Danganronpa, which one was the absolute best at murdering? Well, I sure have! Therefore, I present to you the Danganronpa Killers' Tourney! Using the known murderers of every corner in Danganronpa (that I'm familiar with ofc, RIP to all DR Kirigiri fans), we're going to narrow down the pool into one singular certified Ultimate DR Killer!

Spoiler Warning!

There will be some MAJOR spoilers for basically every part of DR. I mean, it's literally a killer tourney for a murder mystery series. So if you don't want to come across any spoilers by accident, you may want to block this blog for the time being.

Rules, qualifications, and the official brackets are under the break!

Who applies?

Any character within THH, DR0, SDR2, UDG, DR3, and/or DRV3 that we as an audience know for a fact has successfully killed someone other than themselves qualifies for this tournament! Examples include:

Hifumi Yamada (directly killed Taka)

Nagito Komaeda (indirectly killed Chiaki)

Ryoma Hoshi (killed a yakuza within known backstory)

Whereas some characters that don't qualify include:

Kaede Akamatsu (attempted a murder but failed)

Sakura Ogami (killed herself but no one else)

Mahiru Koizumi (while known as an RoD, unknown whether she actually committed murder or not in that time)

What are the rules?

There's not really anything I can do about botting other than keep an eye out for suspicious spikes without corresponding notes, but please don't bot! It's not really a fair way to win imo; we're operating on an honor system here.

Propaganda is welcomed, and will be reblogged when possible!

Nighttime is from 10 pm to 7 am. Some areas may be off-limits at night, so exercise caution.

If I miss any confirmed killers when the bracket is posted, tell me and I'll hold a flash vote on whether or not to include them!

Rounds will last one week each, with a couple days in between rounds. There should be 5 rounds in total if my math is right, but that's subject to change.

After some thought, I've decided to include a losers' bracket for the worst killer alongside the main bracket! They'll cycle in alternating rounds

yo i was just goin through your blog and this post in particular stood out to me https://www.tumblr.com/penguwastaken/749651172845092864/junko-never-lied-in-chapter-6-of-danganronpa?source=share the one about junko lying about izuru killing the student council members. and i just have to say... it literally says in the text you cited that izuru was there... "Enoshima used the Old School Building due to its being closed off, locked the Student Council and Ultimate Hope inside, and caused them to kill each other utilizing various tricks. Scattering weapons, threatening to kill everyone if a murder didn't occur, murdering in plain sight to demonstrate... and so on. She was trying to make them doube each other, to kill each other... it was almost as though she wanted to experiment. She is... truly messed up..." izuru, the ultimate hope, was locked in there with them and junko made both him and the student council members kill each other. "made them to kill each other" — as in everyone locked inside. obviously izuru would've won, being the ultimate hope/having literally every talent. hence why it's a no-brainer he could've killed all the student council members. dr0 and dr2 support the same idea. given dr0 came out right before dr2 it's pretty clear to me the intention of junko's line here is to imply there was a full sweep on izuru's side — he managed to take all of them down effortlessly. this also kinda lines up with junko's line in dr2 about "breaking izuru's spirit" imho. not saying junko never lies but this was lowkey a bad example as it doesn't contradict earlier evidence at all. dr0 and dr2 line up a bit better in this specific case than dr3 does for me (not hate or anything i just wanted to point it out bc it's been eating at me. no shame in liking dr3 either like pop off but i was just itching to point this out)

Not really sure what the issue is here, like, at all.

In Danganronpa Zero, Yasuke claims that that Izuru was locked in with the rest of the student council and Junko made them kill each other. Yasuke doesn't say Junko made Izuru kill the student council, he says that it was a mutual killing.

There are also multiple scenes in Danganronpa Zero where they describe the student council killing each other and not Izuru killing everyone. They even directly say: "the Tragedy of Hope’s Peak wasn’t simply a mass murder."

Like let's look at this specific scene for example:

In this scene, we see someone in a school uniform attacking another person. "But Pengu, this person could technically be Izuru because he has a uniform." Well unfortunately, that's also wrong. Because immediately after...

...we see that man in the student uniform get killed by another person. And then we witness a brawl between several people take place. Obviously this paints a very clear picture that Izuru did not do the killing on his own.

I'm not really sure how you can assume Izuru killed the entire student council when the murder was literally stated to have not been a mass murder, was described as a mutual killing, and we literally see them kill each other.

The most we get to Izuru being a mass murderer is Soshun telling Yasuke that Izuru was the culprit. However this is:

Before Yasuke learns of the Mutual Killing

Because Soshun was implied to have been hiding and just saw Izuru

In fact, this is something Danganronpa 3 further addresses. When we meet Soshun and the rest of the student council in the anime, they all believe that friends wouldn't kill friends, easily explaining why Soshun would think Izuru did it.

But the point is from Danganronpa Zero alone, we factually know that Izuru was not the sole killer of the Student Council. How many people he did kill or whether he killed anybody at all is left vague, all we know is that he was there and suffered only a minor injury.

Which brings us back to the claim Junko makes in Danganronpa 2.

Now that we've literally seen the student council kill each other, there is no doubt that this is just blatantly untrue.

So yes, in this instance, Junko lied without a doubt. Hopefully this cleared any confusion.

I get that you guys don't approve of me sparing her life like this. I understand you may think it's stupid, and gives way to much more chaos and death. After all, leaving Tsumugi alive invites only more chaos, right? That's what you think?

But I demand that you all just sit and think about it for a second...What DOES killing Shirogane even achieve in the end?

She'll go. That doesn't mean Zetsubou will! Even if their head is cut off, that's not going to destroy the work they've put in so far. Someone else will rise to the cause and fill the gap that she left, just like Shirogane herself did for Junko Enoshima...!

These Despairs...they're like seagulls who keep coming back for more food after getting a tiny nibble of your sandwich...! And simply killing them isn't going to FIX any of this! The world already got destroyed! Enoshima's death didn't fix that! TWO more Killing Games happened post-Enoshima because of her followers, and FIFTY-FREAKING-THREE happened in ours!

If you think that this is all part of a plan to get Shirogane to give up on her pointless dreams and seek redemption for her crimes...Pah...We all know that's not how she does things. The only reason I spared her is because her empire is falling around her, and now she's stuck being a blank-slate of a person, with no original ideas or schemes left to throw at us, knowing that taking our lives like she swears to, it won't take it all back, like I just said! For her? That's a fate WORSE than death!

I've had a few people mention the things I post about can apply to more than just factives. Specifically, people mentioning that these things are true and and helpful for fictives to.

I would like to say now, to the people who feel the need to "open my eyes to the problematic fictives" that

That is the point.

I genuinely and honestly in the most non offensive, non rude, trying my best to be understang way, do not understand how you all do not understand that.

This blog exists to teach people that problematic factives aren't that bad. And the fictives are finding that... the experiences are.. similar? Dare I say... the exact same in some cases!? Its- it's almost like.. there's a reason for that.

Yes! Problematic fictives exist too! I know that! But Problematic fictives do not get BANNED from "Problematic introject friendly" servers by Jeff The fucking Killer FOR BEING INTROJECTED FROM A SERIAL KILLER??? WE ARE LITERALLY ONE IN THE SAME AND I AM THE ONE GETTING KICKED OUT FOR EXISTING???

You can go to a stimboard maker and in most cases (granted, yes, everyone has boundaries and this could totally be against a person's boundaries) get a Jeff the Killer, a Ticci Toby, an Ayano Ayishi, etc etc Problematic fictive stimboard made and it wouldn't be a problem. Most of us? we can do that. We can't request stimboards or moodboards or art. We can't post fun headcannons about or dress up as ourselves.

Granted, a lot of us are introjected from someone the system knew in real life and you can't just blast information about your past abuser or your mom, those of us who have infamous serial killer or abuser etc sources are treated like actual shit for something we can't control. And it is so, so, SO crazily often BY problematic fictives. If I had a dollar for every time I was kicked for a server for being me when the mod team had creepypasta, danganronpa, minecraft character thing and whatever else in their system, I would be able to buy all the problematic factives some decent human rights.

I don't think much about danganronpa shipping anymore (my brain is now just permanently rotating enoshima, kamukura, komaeda, ouma and kiibo there like rotisserie chickens instead, i am TOO BUSY!!!), so rain code it is: yumayomi/kokohell/the japanese side calls it yumayomi ig and the english side does not call it anything because no one except me and like 2 other people care. yuma & yomi are just so objectively hilarious as a duo and the possibilities of putting them in Situations are fucking endless nobody does it like they do it. every day another yuma and yomi au idea establishes itself in my mind i am running out of storage room i have so many other things i should care about that aren't wacky rain code yaois but guess what i cannot they won't let me

zero hesistation ougoku danganronpa like what is you people's PROBLEM??? "it's abusive" jesse what the fuck are you talking about. Ouma did not "manipulate" him Gokuhara knew exactly what he was doing. Ouma explicitly told him his plans for the Insect Meet and Greet in the FTE's right before the event, and Gokuhara got mad at him because he lied about liking bugs, (which Ouma had to do because you've all seen how Gokuhara reacts to people that don't. you've seen it) NOT because he suddenly realized he was being manipulated or something. So many people dismiss the sheer amount of agency Gokuhara actually had in chapter 4, in favour of painting the situation as just "poor stupid baby gonta got tricked into murder by the big bad ouma :((((" while. he is not STUPID (HE IS LITERALLY A SCIENTIST??) he was not COERCED into his crimes, he was a WILLING ACCOMPLICE!!!!!! I FEEL LIKE I'M LOSING MY GODDAMN MIND!!!!! He did it in a misguided attempt at mercy killing his classmates after finding out the world got fucked and everything sucks now. There are multiple pieces of dialogue that highly imply Ouma did in fact also want to mercy kill the class - which also makes sense as it would end the killing game (you know his. main. true. goal.) Easily Yuma, beating literally all of dr's protags (though dr1 Naegi has second place. I love you Naegi Makoto). Where do I even start? I think I'm too tired after the above rant to articulate myself anymore and I think if I wasn't that essay would take an entire week to finish lmao.
