Let’s Talk Self Worth!!

Why do you feel this way? Well, the root cause is most likely your surroundings. Those around you, social media, and maybe yourself? Maybe others make you feel unimportant? Maybe social media is telling you others are more important? Or maybe your just always judging yourself? If not, take a moment to think of when you started to feel this way. Then, why you started to feel this way. You can journal this in a notebook or your notes app. Now, describe the wave of emotions you get when feeling this way. Let it all out, it’s ok. Lastly, think of how you can heal from this!

2. Mentality!! Let’s say you get bullied, harsh things are said to you I would believe. The people bullying or saying mean things to you, say you’re “unimportant.” Then those words go to your mind and you start to believe them. Next thing you know more negative words are said. So, your brain continues to believe them as if their affirmations. Your brain now doesn’t even have a say in what you think about yourself. Why? Well, because now you only live by your bullies words. What your bully thinks of you, is how you think of yourself. Now, do you really want to live your life like that? I would hope the answer is no. Ok, so you need to work on becoming secure in yourself. So secure in yourself that when someone says something about you. Guess what, YOU DON’T CARE. You need to start living by your words (and Jesus’s) instead. For example, you like your hair and someone else doesn’t? So what! You go rock that hair of yours cause you like it!!!

3. Stop Comparing Yourself!! Not everything you see and hear is real. Not everyone tells the truth. Plus, what’s the point in comparing yourself to someone your whole life? There is none. What there is, is your older self disappointed thinking back to you now. Not only your older self, your younger self too. They wouldn’t want to see you comparing yourself. I would hope, your present self doesn’t want to be comparing yourself too. In my opinion, comparing yourself is a waste of youth. You spend your whole day, week, month, year, life wasting youth. It’s pointless because it really doesn’t get you anywhere. It just continues to make you more insecure. Therefore, remove what you can that makes you compare yourself. A little example would be deleting social media! If you can remove it from your life, do it.

4. Stop Punishing Yourself!! In other words, stop being so hard on yourself. Just because you got a bad grade isn’t an excuse. Just because you did something “embarrassing” isn’t an excuse. In fact, there is no excuse for punishing yourself. Be nice to yourself instead. You deserve so so sooo much love from yourself. For that reason, give all of that love to yourself. Leave that mistake in the past. Learn to embrace your mistake too. It’s ok, you’ll be ok.

5. You’re Only Human!! If there is one thing I want you to remember from this blog. It’s that you are only human. You can’t be “perfect” and you can’t be happy all the time. Your feelings and struggles are important. We all deal with a bunch of things everyday. It’s in our nature to feel this way at times. Maybe you feel this way more than others, and thats ok. You are only human. Maybe you act different than others, and thats ok. You are only human. Maybe you hate your life, and thats ok. You’re only human. Maybe you can’t do things others can, and thats ok. You’re only human. Maybe you struggle with healing, and thats ok. You are only human. You are only human, imperfectly perfect. You can really only choose to love yourself and have fun. Oh, and remember that you’re only human.

Time for a round up of my favorite things ever: old Gilmore Girls promos! If you’ve never seen these, you’re in for a treat because I laugh so hard every time.

This is my personal favorite. You’ll notice that green is a theme in the later season promos. Luke peering around the corner is the best part of this 💀

More green! Also, more creepy faces and bad editing. Sorry for another Christopher promo, but the shitty editing and the way they make it seem Lorelai has never heard the word fiancé before is perfect advertising.

Luke and Lorelai advertising is good as well. Here Luke is again, hiding behind Lorelai. I also love how Luke is never dressed how he actually dresses in the show. Also, let’s just appreciate the way Lorelai is holding that apple.

I found this promo twice, once with Logan and once with Dean, I’m not sure which one I like better…

I’ve found that the earlier season Gilmore Girls promos are almost exclusively in black and white, which really adds to the drama. I know this is supposed to be dramatic, but it just looks like Dean and Jess are about to kiss.

Here are my favorite Jess promos…clearly he learned how to hide behind a Gilmore girl from Luke.

A list of reasons why Rory Gilmore is a good person and not the shallow, manipulative person people make her out to be:

Took full responsibility for breaking Paris’s project and offered to help her fix it despite Paris being only rude to her at this point

Didn’t tell anyone that Paris had to take her cousin to the Chilton formal despite Paris taunting Rory/saying Rory couldn’t get a date

Told Paris that she could talk to her if she ever needed anyone to talk to despite the fact that Paris had just exposed Lorelai and Max kissing to the whole school

Encouraged Tristan to ask out Paris because she knew Paris had feelings for him

Helped Paris get ready for her date with Tristan and allowed her to borrow her mother’s clothes

Reassured her mother several times about her relationship with Max

Agreed to a coming out party because it made her grandmother happy

Helped Paris study numerous times despite Paris almost always antagonizing her

Gave Jess a chance and was nice to him when the rest of the town despised him. She even vouched for him/defended him often.

Took partial responsibility for the car accident with Jess instead of letting him take the entire blame, which the entire town was doing (and she reassured Luke as well).

Dyed Lane’s hair and then also then dyed it again after Lane freaked out (and she even left the Kim house through the window so that Mrs. Kim wouldn’t see her)

Agreed to go with her grandfather to visit Yale to make him happy even though she didn’t really want to and was only interested in Harvard

Apologized to Dean after their break up and took full responsibility for the problems in their relationship (even though it wasn’t all her fault).

Took time out of her busy end of the year schedule (when she was dealing with finals and being valedictorian) to help her grandmother pick out an outfit for her graduation

Went back to Kyle’s house the day after the disastrous party to get Lane’s heavily stained backpack and deliver it to her

Was always super supportive to her friends (Lane with her band, Paris with academics, Lorelai with the Inn, all of them about their relationships, etc.)

Helped her mother throw a baby shower for Sookie (albeit they never got to have said shower).

Took care of Logan when he in the hospital and after even though he hadn’t been the best boyfriend at this point.

Always encouraged Dean to pursue his dreams/passions and told him he could do what he put his mind to.

Anyways this is all I can think of off the top of my head but stop saying Rory Gilmore is a terrible person. Yes, she made mistakes, but everyone does lol

Thoughts While Watching Gilmore Girls, 3x9, A Deep Fried Korean Thanksgiving, Part IV

I just realized the winter carnival episode is next and tbh I'm pretty stoked about that one.

Ugh, someone left Gilmores on my front porch. Fetch me my broom. Shoo! Shoo! At Thanksgiving number one, we find out Lane is spinning yet another tangled web of lies to ensnare Soggy Rygalski (my new pet name for him, don't ask). Mrs Kim thinks Soggy is actually in a Christian band that Lane discovered through church and not a sinful rock band. Mrs Kim serves Tofurky and I feel as if our little vegetarian diner rat would have enjoyed that.

Welcome back, Soggy.

Dang. When Rory sees how people like her mother and Luke and Mrs Kim treat their employees, it's no wonder she doesn't want to get a job! Bad dum tssssh. Thank you, thank you, I'll be here all night.

Why did I remember that scene as being a lot longer than it was? It lasted less than three minutes. Weird!

Onward, from Soggy to Sookie.

Men, eh? One minute they're lying about turkey preparation and the next they're lying about having a vasectomy.

Rory looking gravely concerned or lost in thought as usual. Thinking deep thoughts about frying. Asked Sookie not once but twice "What do you use the oil for"?

Granny creakily rising from her lawn chair to join the hordes of Jackson's screaming white trash relatives has to be one of my favorite bits in this episode (maybe the season?) so far.

Gather round, white trash young and old. Your king has arrived.

THE FACES!

This whole scene is top notch. I tip my hat to you, Miss AmyShermanPalladino. After departing the white trash jubilee, it's time to circle back to Lukes. I know small business owners are hard working people who don't always have the luxury of shutting down and taking a break, but do you think he ever closes the diner? For anything? Christmas Day? Yeah, I'm sure ya'll can name a few times on the show where he closes up shop (would actually be interested to hear what they were). It wouldn't matter. He'd try to close on Christmas Day and the Gilmores would show up anyway and demand to be served instead of drinking eggnog in their own home. For Christmas, Lorelai should buy Luke a massage. (A LEGITIMATE MASSAGE. You filthy readers).

*smashes Jess and Rory together like I'm 9 years old forcing two Barbie dolls to make out*

Alarming to see Lorelai treat Jess this nicely because I worry she may be ill. Or possibly delirious from hunger (she didn't eat at Sookie's or Lane's, she threw out Mrs Kim's tofurky and just gawked at Sookie's house). It looks like Luke was nice enough to give Jess the day off, but Walmart (and its Hunger Games-style Black Friday festivities) may still be calling. Is this the first real, hot, home made, lovingly prepared holiday meal anyone had ever served him in his entire life? (I'll give partial credit to The Bracebridge Dinner). No street wieners for Jess Mariano this Thanksgiving! Jess says he's starving, but Luke told him not to eat until the Gilmores arrived first. That's some grade a bullshit.

All he wants this Thanksgiving is for his fellow white people to Check Their Privilege. Good luck with that, Lucas.

Serving lewks. Luke has just served the table four heaping plates of hot food and upon hearing that the Gilmores will be trotting off to the McMansion next, presumably to eat way fancier, he says they can just throw everything the fuck out and drink soda if they want. Kay... Jess: Please, Uncle Lucas, don't take away my hot meal. I'm ever so hungry.

L: You didn't have that problem with Dean Me: Trying fruitlessly to remember any scene where Dean and Rory passionately made out in public or showed any sort of affection with each other anywhere that Lorelai could see it R: I don't know how this first second boyfriend thing is supposed to go. L: Well he's your first second boyfriend so give it time. R: The whole town got used to me with Dean. L: It'll get easier, you'll have hundreds of men. Well maybe not hundreds. A couple. Three more. Dean again, Logan, then Logan again. L:They'll adjust to seeing with you Jess! R: What do I do about Dean? L: Well he'll move on too. All this sensible advice coming from Lorelai? It is truly the Thanksgiving of Miracles.
