i am on page 74 of this book. these two characters met on page 37. this character has had less than half the narration time since then. he has described the other character as "careless-flighty-negligent" FOUR TIMES NOW. I AM NOT EVEN KIDDING FOUR TIMES NOT EVEN LIKE "ONE OF THESE WORDS"

I MEAN LITERALLY THAT IT SAYS "CARELESS-FLIGHTY-NEGLIGENT" WITH THE HYPHENS AND EVERYTHING ON THE ACTUAL PAGES OF THIS ACTUAL PROFESIONALLY PUBLISHED BOOK

soap's whole deal being sniper and demolitions gets me going bc on the surface they sound so different but when you get into it, you realise it's bc soap's smart

sniping is all math; calculating distances and wind interference and bullet drop. something i think people overlook is he was listed as a sniper first so it can be implied that he's better at it than demolitions. he does more sniping in both campaigns than demolitions work; in capture or kill, ghost specifically calls on him to take down the aq snipers

and demolitions is math with a hit of chemistry; knowing what mixes with what, knowing how much to use, recognising environmental factors and adjusting accordingly. it's not just about the boom; so much work goes into contained/ planned explosions. especially when having enough power for a breacher charge and not bringing down the whole building is the difference between mission success and failure

the chemical bombs he makes in alone can't just be any old cleaners, they have to have the correct reaction to each other; he just knew off the top of his head what would mix with what to create what reaction. he would also potentially have to recognise them by sight/smell bc they would’ve been written in spanish

soap would also have to know architecture; recognising structural integrity and weak points so he knows exactly where to plant a charge to bring it down and how it'll come down

he has an incredible soldier's mind people just forget that bc he's sociable which itself is a skill

we know he tends to buck against orders he doesn't agree with like when he pushes back against ghost in capture or kill and shepherd when he tells them to release hassan

he gets closer to people and sees if he can trust them and that's when he follows them without question. really think about how he talks to alejandro and rudy; he asks about their home and alejandro's family and rudy's relationship with him. those aren't questions you ask a stranger after a few hours of knowing them. that's not even touching on his relationship with ghost

he also deliberately brings people of higher ranks down to his level; talking informally with ghost and giving him a shoulder punch, addressing alejandro (a colonel!!) by his first name and rudy by his nickname despite literally just meeting them. he personalises all of them and it’s in direct opposition to the reason most characters do that; it’s not due to insubordination or lack of respect, the more he respects and trusts someone, the more casual he is with them

he digs into people; he wants to know what makes them tick and that determines if he can one, trust them and two, follow their orders. once he decides that, he's the ultimate soldier; he bleeds loyalty which makes him vicious when that loyalty is taken for granted

he isn't naive or bubbly or insecure; he's an incredibly smart and aware soldier. he's aggressive and bloodthirsty and loyal and intuitive and i love him so much

I LIKE the themes of friendship and found family

I even like most of the songs!

And ofc the voice cast slays every time

But just because your show has angst and tears and drama and sad music doesn't automatically make it "good".

Just because your characters are queer doesn't automatically make them good or well written characters

This fandom is so frustrating to deal with when you want to express your more nuanced takes of it

I came up with the concept of an infected Marissa who could become a secret boss in the game

When you come to her for the first time, she behaves as usual and asks you to listen to her song. You sit down in your seat, listen, she thanks you, and you leave. However, if you don't convert her into essence right away, the next time you visit her, she changes her appearance a little, and again asks you to listen to her sing, a little more insistently. As a result, with each of your visits, the signs that she is infected will become more obvious, and she will ask you to stay more and more intrusive, until finally she wants you to listen to her forever, and then the boss fight will happen

I think the Radiance captured her mind with bright memories of her beloved city and its inhabitants, now stricken by the plague, of her bright concerts and former glory, and of close friends who disappeared, were infected or were preparing to fall asleep forever. Most likely, she died possessed by these visions, and her ghost, who remained on the stage, unaware of his death, was also possessed

If you think of it, many of the people in this fandom keep proving Monoma right and making his character have so much sense- like guys, class 1-B is not the lesser class. They aren't weaker than class 1-A, the classes weren't assigned by strength or anything like that. The only difference between the two classes is that the fucking MC is in one of them, which automatically makes them the center of attention. If Midoriya got assigned to class 1-B then no one would fucking think they're lesser than class 1-A lol.

"How Hagakure/Mineta/whatever got in class 1-A?" girl the question is how they got in the hero course, not class 1-A (which is a talk for another post, not this one). Them being in class 1-A doesn't mean they're automatically stronger than everyone in class 1-B

this weekend i met someone off bumble bff and she was one of the most gross homophobic bi women i've ever met. going on rants about how butch lesbians are just misogynistic men and copy-paste their whole personalities and looks from abusive men and abuse women the same way. i started leaving my body and felt so much rage. she just kept going on about how toxic lesbians and the lesbian community are in general and making homophobic comments knowing i'm a lesbian. you are insane if you think being gnc makes a woman manly or masculine. and that appearance makes a woman more abusive. my abusers were extremely feminine bisexual woman.

she said that bisexual men have it worse than lesbians because lesbians are "encouraged" to experiment and bi men are not. what kind of weird ass braindead comment is that?? she would imply lesbians are privileged and act like we are so big in numbers. she said lots of lesbians get into relationships with men and use them for material things and disrespect male partners. i of course knew that was a batshit insane and stupid thing to say and doesnt happen. so i said id never met lesbian who'd been with men and she said in a hostile tone "so you only know goldstars?" ofc she is a hardcore troon supporter and thinks terfs are a real thing and got offended when i said i don't like dick, i told her i was banned on tinder before because of trans women harassing me and reporting me for not wanting them, so she started checking me with questions like "okay so then would you date a trans man?" they think gotcha because self-loathing women. then she would complain about how lesbians would refuse to speak to her because she was bi....i wonder fucking why. you prove us right every time. you hate homosexuals and refuse to acknowledge you're homophobic oppressors pro conversion therapy and align with homophobic men who want to rape us.

The thing is "forced diversity" only became a real thing after people online got called out for only ever having like white ocs or just Never making women [ESPECIALLY TRANS WOMEN] and now sometimes I see a character lineup and its like Oh I can like actively see the diversity checklist you were crossing off in your head specifically to try and get tumblr woke points because you are being so fucking Weird about this. Like in an effort to be like LOOK LOOK AT HOW DIVERSE MY CAST IS I AM ADVERTISING THIS BY JUST TELLING YOU ABOUT HOW DIVERSE EVERYONE IS YOU DON'T NEED TO KNOW GENRE OR THEMES they make it so clear that making characters of color or women or disabled characters etc has to be a Conscious Choice instead of just. Something that comes naturally because that reflects our real world.
