Duolingo Sucks, Now What?: A Guide

Now that the quality of Duolingo has fallen (even more) due to AI and people are more willing to make the jump here are just some alternative apps and what languages they have:

"I just want an identical experience to DL"

Busuu (Languages: Spanish, Japanese, French, English, German, Dutch, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese, Polish, Turkish, Russian, Arabic, Korean)

"I want a good audio-based app"

Language Transfer (Languages: French, Swahili, Italian, Greek, German, Turkish, Arabic, Spanish, English for Spanish Speakers)

"I want a good audio-based app and money's no object"

Pimsleur (Literally so many languages)

Glossika (Also a lot of languages, but minority languages are free)

*anecdote: I borrowed my brother's Japanese Pimsleur CD as a kid and I still remember how to say the weather is nice over a decade later. You can find the CDs at libraries and "other" places I'm sure.

Mango (Languages: So many and the endangered/Indigenous courses are free even if you don't have a library that has a partnership with Mango)

Transparent Language: (Languages: THE MOST! Also the one that has the widest variety of African languages! Perhaps the most diverse in ESL and learning a foreign language not in English)

AnkiDroid: (Theoretically all languages, pre-made decks can be found easily)

"I want SRS flashcards and I have an iphone"

AnkiApp: It's almost as good as AnkiDroid and free compared to the official Anki app for iphone

"I don't mind ads and just want to learn Korean"

Keep seeing that post where OP starts like 'Thinking about...grieving the undead' and then adds on about like. Real life situations where people have not died but have left your life and you would have reason to grieve them.

TFO Other Prime AU (Concept #1: Energon)

Hi. Sorry to shamelessly plug my AU※ (that I'm still thinking of making a completely different continuity purely due to the fact that I've added so many things that ONE didn't have), but I'm gonna post a couple of stuff that I'd like people's opinions on.

Anyway, (after the events of ONE) since the war between the Autobots and Decepticons aren't fighting, I'd imagine that energon doesn't run out and the planet doesn't get turned into a wasteland. Of course the Quintessons are going to be a major plot point and there's gonna be a fight for energy there, but should something/someone else be going after the energy source?

Also, what new concepts should happen (culturally/societally) because of the energy recovery?

Also, it doesn't have to be anything related to any of the above questions, but I'd be interested in what y'all'd think would happen because the energy is permanently flowing!

As always, don't feel obligated to interact, I'm thankful for anyone reading this in general so thank you for your time 🥂 (I hope I don't sound like a car salesman oh god I just genuinely would like interaction!!!)

Why do we segregate sports by sex?

Disclaimer: this video was intended as a fun look at the inconsistent logic of gender segregation in sports, but as a short-form video, it naturally does not go into much nuance. One thing I want to make clear is that I do believe we should be making sports more inclusive to trans and intersex athletes, and it seems to me that a great starting point would be to stop gender segregating sports that really don’t need it. Like archery!
