Its bottom teeth hung out of its mouth, and its brown fur stuck up in every which way... Yeah... it was hideous for sure, but Bathalomeow loved you and his kitty dad so that you couldn't be too mad.

Bf!Futturman gets so sucked into his game that he doesn't notice anything around him. When you weren't around, and he wasn't working, Josh did NOTHING but play Biotic Wars. He'd be so sucked into the game for hours, going to disgusting extremes to avoid having to press pause. When you were home, though, he'd only dedicate an hour or two a day to the game. He looked at you with sad eyes, a pout on his lips. "I'm sorry, baby, I didn't mean to make a mess. I really just wanted to do something nice for you like you do for me," he said softly as he walked over to you. You embraced him into your arms, pressing a kiss to his head. "Hey, 's okay baby, we can just order takeout," you giggled, deciding to turn the oven off and leave the mess for another time.

you sigh. "why can't you just understand!?" you yell, infuriated at your parents.

you had recently enrolled in college, originally studying business administration. after going to class for a few months, you found yourself falling out of love of the fantasy of owning your own business. you wanted to switch majors, taking a gap year to really explore yourself and decide what you want to dedicate your life to. this was the first time brining it up with your parents.

they clearly opposed the idea. you never had the best relationship with your parents, but you still thought it was right to visit once in a while. and this day, joshua was accompanying you.

"although it's good to know yourself better... this is still not right." your father sternly says, staring into your burning eyes.

"when have you ever cared about my future, dad?! really, tell me when. because the last time i remember, you were trying your absolute best to get me out of the house." you were crying now, streams of hot anger burning down your cheeks.

joshua tightly grips your hand, rubbing your palm with his thumb.

"don't cry, baby. you just do what you want, okay?" he whispers, catching the attention of your mother.

"do what she wants?! i can tolerate you, y/n, but not your moron of a boyfriend who only knows how to sing." your mother says while glaring at joshua, who stares at her back with calm but heartbroken eyes.

that was when she crossed the line. she could say all she wanted about you, saying how you were a failure and you can't commit yourself to something - but not joshua. he was the one thing keeping you going, comforting you on nights where you just wanted to give up everything. crying on his shoulder while him having his hand rub your tired back was your only beam of support. you had lost the support of your friends, and now your family.

"what the HELL is your problem, mom?!" you screamed, echoing in the large dining room. you put down your fork, "your only daughter isn't happy. doesn't that mean anything to you? i work day and night for a degree i don't even want. i work sleepless nights for professors i don't even l-"

"you are not my daughter anymore."

you stare at your mother, a tear dropping out of your eye. you felt as though a knife was stabbed through your chest, six words you never would've thought to hear.

joshua was now concerned. you were now frantically sobbing, trying to take in precious air between your long sobs.

"come on, we're going home." he grabs your arm, leading your shaking body off your chair. "thank you for the dinner."

no matter how mad he was at your parents, he at least needed to be polite. he held your shaking shoulders, leading you out of the house and into his car. he starts driving fast, his heart physically hurting every sob he heard leave your mouth.

"baby... are you ready to talk about it?" he asked after your sobs had died down into a cry.

"n.. no" you say, the first syllable getting separated by a hiccup. "i just want... to go home."

"okay honey, take your time. let's talk about it while i'm holding you at home, okay?" he glances at you often, wanting to kiss your swollen red eyes. his hands don't leave you, softly squeezing your thighs or holding your still-shaking hands.

when you arrive home, you immediately collapse on the floor. face buried in your tear stained hands, your muffled sobs surprised shua who is still outside at the car. he rushes to you, leaving his car door open. he rushes to your side, closing the door behind him and kneeling in front of you. he moves you to the wall so you can have something to lean on. he takes your shaking hands in his, tearing up.

"i'm here now, shh" a tear rolls down his face, frustrated that this is happening to you, his entire world. he pulls himself together, leading you through deep breaths.

"breath in," he takes a deep breath, and you copy him to the best of your abilities. you're still shaking, but looking into his eyes while breathing made you feel a little better.

"i'm sorry for dragging you in like this, i never thought it would get this bad i-"

"don't. nothing is your fault. you hear me?"

you feel another wave of tears approaching. but instead of burying your face in your hands, you bury your body into his. he catches you, kissing the top of your head while reassuring you until your shakes stopped. after a while you pull away:

"are you a little better now?" he asks, still looking at you with concerned eyes.

"yes," you reply, your voice still a little shaky. "thank you, shua."

he carries you to his bedroom, spending the rest of the night talking and watching your favourite movie.

What did you think about Challengers? Because i’m having a very unpopular opinion… i didn’t like Zendaya’s acting. I thought it was so forced. I just think she couldn’t deliver the nuance of Tashi as a character and her scenes were so flat… I could see a different actress playing the role but Zendaya really didn’t do much with it. Her delivery was very monotonous and as i said, she didn’t give her the dimensions I feel were needed to understand her as a character. And Zendaya had just one facial expression for Tashi the entire movie too and that threw me off and completely disappointed me too because she had the material to do more and just didn’t.

The real stand out of the movie was Josh O’Connor that was irreconcilable with that role and managed to give Patrick some depth with very easy and smart tone changes and he ate every scene he was in (and dare I say, he was holding Zendaya’s performance together). Faist did well with what he was given and I think this will open a lot of doors for him in the film world.

But for this to be Zendaya’s big “lead role” it felt incredible empty as a performance. And I feel so many reviewers were so afraid to critize her lack of versatility in that performance or afraid to say her co-stars had a better performance and overall chemistry together because she has a massive social media support. But… it is the truth and if there’s anyone in there that will get an Oscar nomination for that will be O’Connor.

(But I don’t think the movie will get any acting nominations except for some technical/script categories).

I finally saw (and am now obsessed with) Challengers so responding after long while lol. Honestly, I loved it. My favorite movie of the year so far (followed by Dune 2 and I Saw the TV Glow). I agree Josh O’Conner was excellent and devious and sexy and just… a scene-stealer. I think that each of their performances worked for the characters as written? I think Tashi is supposed to be more cold and calculating but she’s also funny and biting and sexy, I can definitely totally understand why you feel this way though. I personally think all their personalities and portrayals work. Mike Faist is definitely the most submissive of all three from the get-go, while the other two and are more combative and go after what they want. The interplay between them all and their personalities and going after each other (in every sense of the word) makes the film. So I don’t necessarily fully agree (at least on this watch) but I do totally see where you’re coming from. I honestly often get a coldness from at least characters in Luca’s movies (like everyone except Timmy and his dad in CMBYN, everyone except the young bf and maybe the lesbian daughter in I Am Love) so I was worried this would be the same but this felt really lively and much sexier than most of his movies to me. So I feel like it’s more character than Zendaya and I really liked her here but yeah.

Notes - I like that the book starts off with Eden having a panic attack. We get to see her reaction to coping with everything that happened, and we also hear that Kevin has been arrested. Eden goes out to a concert, see's the jock guy who tried to attacked her last book, and she bumps into Josh. It's all very sudden and yet its played out smoothly. Eden is with Steve, but it's not exactly love. She holds things against him still. The dynamic between Dominic and Josh is so sweet to me! They're such good friends and i'm so thankful Josh had someone to look out for him while he was drunk off his ass. Eden getting triggered during sex was a really traumatic scene to read and i can't believe how vivid the writing is. It's phenomenal, truly. The way Eden held Steve during the break up was so intimate and sweet, and it was better than break up sex ever could have been. I really want Josh's dad, matthew, to get his shit together. He's doing to well, and i want him to STAY doing well, for his sake, and josh's. He's such a good father when he's sober and present, and its an accurate depiction to have him relapsing at LEAST once, maybe even twice. It's apart of getting clean and sober. Cold turkey is hard for a lot of people, and relapses are common, and should be handled appropriately. Eden getting accepted to a college was awesome!! I'm so glad her life is moving forward. the way josh reacts to the news is SO CUTEEE THEYRE SO PERFECT UHGGG. I'm glad that Caelin and Josh got to make up and apologize to each other, as well. Eden going off to college and starting a relationship with Josh is so sweet, but its kind of bittersweet knowing that the hearing is coming up soon and it wont be happy joyous occasions for long. The hibachi scenes are so adorable and i just love Josh and Eden together. They're SO perfect as GF and BF :) Josh offering to come back home with her was sweet and I'm kinda glad he ISNT if i'm being honest. Its a really traumatic moment for eden and she just needs someone to vent to. The talk of self blaming that Eden has is really interesting because its been nearly a decade and she's just now processing this. Her meeting Gennifer was a shock, and i really hope it doesn't ruin the trial. I'm so glad that Mara and Eden got to talk to each other, and I'm SO glad she's coming to the hearing. The transition scene between Mara at the park listening to the details to the hearing taking place was SO COOL in the most respectful way possible. I like how this book talks about how survivors are retraumatized by the system. It was triggering to listen to, I literally wanted to pull my hair out. The retelling was so raw and real, even though we've heard this one in the first book. Its such an obvious symbolism to how the victim in this case are traumatized by these shit faced lawyers. Eden dissociating and not remembering leaving the courtroom was a very real moment that i'm glad was included. The nightmare scene was so crazy and the way josh got hurt was unexpected. This trial is fucking Eden up. The pregnancy scare was another unexpected moment! I didn't see this coming but i should've. Imagine she was pregnant LMFAOOSDFHSJKDF SDHJF HELPPP. Josh deciding to take a break because she lied to him is needed because he needs a therapist. Not his fault obvi but he needs help. The high scene is so fuckin funny to me. The breakup is necessary in my opinion (and also follows the romance novel stereotype of writing technique) and i saw it coming eventually. i REALLY like the scene with Josh and his dad, and the fact that josh was honest with him about the fact that he cant trust him, and it makes him not trust other people in return. Eden thinking of joining the band is so cute. I also like that Josh is giving Eden her time. Eden absolutely nailing her trial was great and i'm so glad she got her moment after faltering. Her meeting back up with josh in the end was nice, and leaves their relationship open ended and up to interpretation. I interpret them getting back together with their new improvements and stability in life.
