NO EXISTEN!

(English version here.)
The Clearing (S01) - Iniziata per Teresa Palmer e Miranda Otto, mi è piaciuta!
The Chemistry of Death (S01) - Serie tratta dai romanzi di Simon Beckett con protagonista l’antropologo forense David Hunter.
Complimenti all’ottimo cast, Tom Hiddleston su tutti! Lui è veramente fantastico!
The Fall of the House of Usher (S02) - A malincuore devo dire che non mi è piaciuta molto, ho preferito le precedenti serie di Flanagan.
The Gilded Age (S02) - Bella stagione!
A Murder at the End of the World (S01) - Partita bene si perde un pò nel finale.

content warning: extensive gore described
Finished Da Vinci's Demons s02 ep06 yesterday and I have thoughts. So many of them.
The scenes with Lorenzo were gruesome, but then ghost Giuliano appeared.
(hooray)
I have to admit I really liked the conclusion of that storyline. Although I wouldn't say immersing yourself in hatred for someone helps to steady your hand for archery. Wouldn't you shake with anger or something? Well, nevermind.
Lucrezia continues to have a bit of agency (great!), but now the Turk is talking over her mysteriously. *blergh*
So what are Leonardo and Girolamo up to this episode? Leonardo has been poisoned by snake and of course there must be some kind of ritual. We have a sex scene of dubious consent complete with magically clothed man right after (presumed) intercourse. I understand you cannot show an erect penis on tv (and you don't have to), but this is just ridiculous.
Then we have a long dream sequence that he stumbles through. I'm not impressed. He's told he shouldn't dwell there too long, but has to be rescued by ghost Giuliano. Not the best idea to have things happen to your hero rather than him doing stuff. And what is that bullshit of "Your history will be suppressed"? *internal screaming*
You know who is doing stuff? Our antagonist has to fight for his life and in doing so *checks notes* gnaws a man's leg (really, it's not just one bite), breaks the man's neck, buries himself,
(look into the eyes of a madman while lightning strikes)
gouges an eye out with a finger while being strangled, bashes a man's head several times to make sure he's really, really dead, bites another's ear and there's also lots and lots of stabbing and hitting. Oh, and screaming. In the raging thunderstorm. Seriously, those fight scenes were so over the top that I found them rather exhilarating.
Of course, it wouldn't last.
I knew this would come, but I'm still devastated. I keep raving about Blake's acting, but must also say this: pour one out for Estella Daniels who is doing a great job here. I wish we had seen more of her. Other people have pointed out how problematic this scene is in several different directions, but I'm just sad. I have a feeling it will all go downhill from here, especially my enjoyment of this series. After this heartfelt scene it's much harder to keep a bit of an ironic distance and snark about things. Let's just punch Leonardo instead.
That felt surprisingly satisfying. Can we do that again?
No? Too bad. See you after the next episode.

Oh, do not apologise for a long reply, please! This discussion is super stimulating for me right now 😄 case in point: this addition 😳
To me, Crowley's reservations showing emotion strongly relate to the trauma of the fall (including being disowned, the war in heaven, etc). "Gebranntes Kind scheut das Feuer"/"Once bitten, twice shy". We saw him emote very openly when he was still an angel, the next time (that we've seen him) is in Eden where he is very neutral, the only reactions we get (that I can remember off the top of my head) are "The Great Plan's ineffable?" in a sarcastic, kind of bitter tone, and the glee at Aziraphale's little dip into free will. But he isn't actively antagonising Aziraphale or God's fun new creation. This we see throughout the centuries; he does his job, but in the most harmless, neutral ways he can think of, searching for loopholes. But he has been burnt (cross-language-callback-pun, giving myself a wahoo) and not least because of his emotional attachment to the universe and resulting disappointment, anger and questioning. Much like you said about Aziraphale (especially in that linked post, which is fantastic, although I'd like to slap a bunch of "conventionally" stickers in there bc types still vary and I, for one feel no attraction towards Crowley aka David Tennant's physical appearance, but Aziraphale aka Michael Sheen ticks all the boxes), Crowley is traumatised and has his shields up. What I think might be a fascinating theory is the emotions they are more prone to let through potentially being tied to the kind of being they are respectively. Angels are beings of love and goodness (or so they would have us believe), so Aziraphale loses the stronghold on his emotions to happiness and love the quickest. Demons are (again allegedly) beings of hatred and evil, so Crowley's grips slips easiest around his anger and drive for mischief. The question here being, of course, if that's a fact of nature or nurture. But it's only a theory anyway.
Anger or other negatively-received feelings have long been observed to be more dramatically thrilling for audiences (both for stories and real life situations), whereas happiness is often considered boring and doesn't drive a narrative like conflict does. People want Crowley to be more in touch with his emotions because they want to live that accomplishment of finding happiness vicariously through him. It's catharsis. Aziraphale "just needs to get his shit together" and loosen up some because he already portrays happiness so frequently, "what more could he possibly want?!" Crowley's emotions are more obvious this way, a narrative way.
Paradoxically, toxic masculinity has rendered anger near illegible as an emotion in men (or people read as men), so Crowley appears to be less emotional or emotionally repressed which anger is typically regarded as a symptom of. In this way, happiness becomes more visible, too. It is now seen as Aziraphale rubbing it in their faces how happy he is, which is a stance borne of envy, obviously.
I'd personally argue that they both keep a lid on their pots of emotions in fairly equal fashion, though Crowley does appear a little free-er, especially in S02, that one scene in his car (you know the one, Beelzebub shows up and interrupts his moment of vulnerability). We haven't really seen that kind of deflation in Aziraphale yet. Aziraphale's willingness to go back to heaven also indicates this. Crowley was the driving force in stopping Armageddon in S01, we know he doesn't want the world to end and would do a lot to prevent that. Going back to heaven, where he could assist and protect Aziraphale (as he's been doing so often for so long), however, is something he isn't willing to do. Safe for that short trip with Muriel, of course, but that was not becoming an angel again. Either he doesn't believe Aziraphale really can change anything up there or he's just too traumatised and feels he has failed to steer Aziraphale clear of being manipulated so hard that he'll either be equally traumatised in the end or they just lose each other. Or it's both of those. Either way, he is showing a major flaw in that scene in my book bc he doesn't have faith in Aziraphale. Which is fine. I don't blame him as a character and I can see where he's coming from (literally). Crowley isn't the only one betrayed or abandoned in that moment.
That's my reading of it any way. I could go into more detail and cross-reference a whole bunch, but at this point, I'm writing a BA thesis and I've already gotten that degree 😅
Long story short: they aren't that dissimilar. But what you said and pointed to with that linked post is true; they are perceived to be for multiple hierarchical reasons embedded in the whole society controlling trash heap of white supremacy that sets Aziraphale at a disadvantage based on his clear portrayal of neurodivergent behaviours, attractiveness as measured by convention and expectations of emotional capacity in predominantly Male-presenting characters (real or fictional). Hope I didn't miss anything. The Conclusion/summary was always my greatest weakness 😂
It might seem crazy what I'm about to say, but since I can't really read people's expression well (thanks for that, autism) I have a different approach. You see, I like acting myself, yes, in part because it's a type of controlled masking and learning how to human in a socially acceptable way, so I analyse (fictional) characters' emotions etc by imitating facial expressions and seeing what that triggers in me. Kind of like associations, but mindsets, intents and emotions.
That's what I keep doing with Aziraphale specifically since he is who people keep criticising (bc Crowley obviously is perfect and doesn't make mistakes /s) and evidently not understanding him at all but I don't want to get upset about this again.
This is how I knew he wasn't disgusted (????) by the kiss and I've got an idea about how he feels in the lift to heaven at the end of s02.
The best one-word answer i can boil it down to is: defiance. He's going against all odds, against expectations and perhaps even his own better judgement/instinct. Like, he knows what he wants to do is risky and potentially dangerous, but he has to do it for the world, himself and Crowley, perhaps even a little in spite of him. He can do this. Yes, he paints himself as a damsel in distress a lot. Yes, he like the comforts and pleasures of earth and humanity. But don't you go underestimating him.
Part of me thinks he thinks the Metatron thinks (there's so much thinking involved here wow we're thoughtful) he's an easy puppet. Naive, innocent, believes in the unwavering and undebatable goodness of heaven. A toy soldier he can command and make do what he needs done. And in a way Aziraphale is all that. But he also isn't stupid. He's witnessed heaven's stance on ineffable plans during Nopeageddon, had his heart broken and his faith in God's institution shaken. He knows The Second Coming can't mean good news for earth, especially since Crowley's voiced his suspicion "all of us against all of them".
Aziraphale is being brave, resuming his position as a fighter, a guardian, only the Eastern Gate has expanded to mean the whole world and Crowley, maybe even Hell because balance is necessary for shades of grey and their lives hold value, too, after all.
He's on a mission and by God (no pun intended) he plans to accomplish it. There's no South Downs without earth or, indeed, without Crowley.

Rules: Answer the questions and tag whatever-amount of people you want to get to know better!
1. Favourite colour: blues but also greens, if I absolutely had to choose it would probably be #008080
2. Currently reading: Henry by Florian Gottschick (12 year old Henriette aka Henry accidentally gets kidnapped and refuses to escape given the chance)
3. Last song you listened to: Topukla by Athena
4. Last series you watched: just started watching My Life is Murder S02 today before work (I love how chill it is). Also yesterday I watched a couple episodes of the Alex Rider series which was surprisingly good (I found the books mediochre which might be because I was already an adult when I read them and I thought the Stormbreaker movie was quite bad but the series actually does a good job getting across how much Alex'd prefer to have a normal life while still making his choices believable and I also like that they included Tom early on because Alex needs friends)
5. Sweet, spicy or savoury: savoury and spicy at the same time
7. Tea or coffee: Tea if it's a drink, coffee if it's like a cookieflavour or something
8. Currently working on: getting all the Achievements for the main game in Dishonored

just finished Horizon Zero Dawn. Took me about 160 hours because I kept getting distracted from the main quest by all the sidequests, and then I kept getting distracted from the sidequests by all the possibilities just roaming the world and hunting both machines and animals. Somehow though I still have many missing textdatapoints to find and a handful of other data - maybe I'll look them up and collect them at some point, I'd definitely be interested in reading even more stuff. (Just before I started the final battle, I went hunting for awhile to stock up on resources, and randomly found a datapoint sitting in some water - if all the others are as randomly strewn across the world I'm not surprised I've only found a few)

8 songs, 8 people
tagged by: @lovecanbesostrange
RULES: answer the 8 song prompts, then tag 8 people
1. favorite song at the moment:
Probably "Hauch mich mal an" by Das Lumpenpack
I don't listen to music a lot, but I like this song enough to have bought the entire album "Eine herbe Enttäuschung", which contrary to the title is absolutely not a bitter disappointment. It's all thanks to @famburasch-sohn-des-partram sharing a link to their concert stream at the very beginning of the pandemic :D
2. a song you associate with your favorite ship:
Not a shipper, not very into music, so I have no answer to this.
3. a song that could be about you:
"Sunshine" by Cosmo Jarvis (it hasn't even been warm for that long this year but I'm already sick of it - thankfully today it rained when I rode my bike back home so I could cool off a little)
4. a song you think is overrated:
I honestly can't think of one, because when I'm not actively interested in the music that's playing it pretty much just goes in one ear and leaves out the other without leaving a lasting impression.
5. a song that reminds you of a good memory:
"A Whiter Shade of Pale" by Procol Harum - they're my uncles favourite band and when they performed near where my mum lives he invited us to go
6. the last song you listened to:
"Gay Pirates" by Cosmo Jarvis - one of the songs that are pretty much always in my playlist, because so far I've never felt like I wanted to skip it, when it came on. This one @pneu-monie recommended to me ages ago and I've since bought several of Cosmo Jarvis' albums.
7. a song that makes you laugh:
"The Hotdog Man" by Tripod (or pretty much any of their other songs), "Prejudice" by Tim Minchin, "Malcolm" by The Arrogant Worms (and several other songs), "Der Pinguin" by Die Blutjungs (and also many more) - there's probably more because I like comedic music, but I'm gonna stop myself there xD
8. a song you want your mutuals to listen to:
"Grandaddy" by Alex Horne & The Horne Section (ok, I lied, I didn't actually stop myself, I just moved one of the other song's that make me laugh to question 8)

JUST FINISHED HZD ON ULTRA HARD
and holy shit that endfight was TOUGH! When I started playing the story I checked multiple times whether I had actually chosen ultra hard because thanks to New Game + I already had all the weapons and the highest Level, so it was pretty easy most of the time. I did die here and there along the way, but that was usually due to not paying that much attention to the healthbar (because the machines weren't that much harder to kill, I kinda forgot that they were much stronger so getting hit by them was much worse for Aloy) and one time because I'd forgotten that I wasn't doing the cauldrons and therefore obviously couldn't override all the machines xD.
I'd stocked up on ammo and some healing items but was still woefully underprepared for the final fight on my first try. Maybe it's simply because both the fight against Helis and the one on the Spire happen in such cramped spaces and stealth is absolutely no option. Died so many times in both parts and even got a Game Over for running out of time on the Spire once. I didn't have a problem with the middle bit where you repeatedly shoot Petra's experimental weapon at waves of approaching machines though.
Anyway so after I got checkpointed on the Spire without any health items left and getting more and more frustrated I aborted the mission and spent a bunch more hours hunting boars and other game. Also bought some Adept weapons (only to find out that the Adept Sharpshot Bow isn't as good as the Banuk Powershot, so I didn't even need it - didn't want to go to the Cut to get the Adept Powershot though) which helped a bit. The Adept Blast Sling did considerably more damage than the normal one, the Adept Tripcaster is great in theory but I never got the time to use it in the heat of battle.
On my second try the bit with Helis felt even tougher than the first time around, but after many tries I made it through again. The bit after that felt harder than on my first try as well, but I did make it without dying. And then the Spire. Died again and again and again because of all the chaos, felt like I came pretty close a couple of times but died again. Then FINALLY managed to get the Deathbringer's health down enough to explode one of its guns and got excited in a sort of pessimistic way xD - at that point I had a small handful of the smaller healing potions left and a tiny amount of herbs - I did my best to avoid the attacks, managed to actually chug some small potions when necessary and then blew up the Deathbringer's other gun. There were 46 seconds left on the clock, my heart was racing and my hands were shaking slightly. I only had like two herbs worth of healing power left, but I managed to chuck a few more bombs at the Deathbringer and it collapsed. Didn't even believe it at first because I must have tried to get to that point about 30 or 40 times by then.
Anyway, great game, would recommend, but if - like me - you're more in it for the story, I'd say play on normal or even easy difficulty, because ultra hard mode may be bad for your blood pressure XD
