Hello and welcome back to my blog! I planned to post this about two weeks ago, but I got so busy with booking flights and reservations for my trip that I decided to wait until I returned from my vacation.

This project has been my plan for my next #FollowersGift and I’m happy that it's finally complete. It's not much, to be honest; this was just an idea I had for a career and I was unsure if I should create a part-time job again or pursue a full-time career, so I decided to do both!

The SimGuard Security Services is a full-time career based on a security company/firm while SimGuard Security is also part of that but is assigned to different lots. This took a while because aside from creating five part-time careers, I also created a full-time career that includes branches, opportunities and books, which will be fully discussed in this post. A second post will follow for the part-time careers so this one won't get too long.

NRAAS Careers Mod

Branches and wages: This career has two branches that branch out after level 5: the Management branch, which focuses on handling internal agency operations as you progress to higher ranks and the Field Operations branch, which allows for expertise in specific security fields. All the levels represent realistic roles based on the research I did for this career. If you prefer the managerial role, expect to read more reports and increase your logic skills. However, if you prefer roles like a bodyguard or security escort, expect to develop both athletic and logic skills as you take on different roles in the field. Levels 1-5 offer realistic hourly wages based on research. To compensate for the increased days off and decreased work hours as the level increases, I had to raise the hourly wages beyond the normal salary ranges for Levels 6-10 for both branches. Metrics and Books: I made a few changes to this career, specifically regarding the metrics. I originally planned to include "Reports" as part of the required tasks but I realized this was unrealistic since it was based on the Law Enforcement career, where individuals interview people, search through their trash and create reports based on those findings—tasks not typical for a security guard. Instead, I made it a custom tone and changed the "Reports" metric to "Research," which is based on the Medical career, where professionals read reports from their subordinates instead of medical journals. Opportunities: As this is my first time creating opportunities, I focused on developing just two for now, with only one of them being repeatable. This is because security guards need to complete a minimum number of hours of continued firearm training per year. I initially planned to include Martial Arts as part of the metrics but decided to make this base game compatible for now. I might release a different version for World Adventures but to be honest, I don’t have the time at the moment. You are always free to add it on your own for personal use (check my terms of use). As stated above, you will need NRAAS Careers Mod for these careers to show up in the game and as long as you have the latest version of it, it should work for higher patches. I grew up in small country in West Africa. I went to a great school through scholarship with the condition that I would pay it forward to the younger generation. So, after high-school I spent two years teaching math to elementary school kids. It was there I discovered my interest of people development. I enjoyed taking a kid from "I don't like math to can I get more homework? When I moved to the U.S for college I chose to study Psychology with a minor in Organizational Development. And my internship as a Human Capital Manager has allowed me to further develop my communication and leadership skills.

How did you hear about this position?

I learned about this position through Stacy Williams. She was one of the panelists on the fireside chat I convened in my school on the importance of women in leadership positions. I followed up with her through a coffee chat. She really enjoyed her job and the company culture. Her enthusiasm about her work encouraged me to apply and I am really excited to be going through the interview process.

What type of work environment do you prefer?

I thrive in environments where I am constantly learning. A place where each days brings a fresh set of challenges that I can solve. I also like working with teams where we can collaborate on tasks and brainstorm solution-oriented ideas. In my former internship I worked with an incredible team as a project manager in the human resources division and I worked on certain projects where I had full creative control on the outcome. How do you deal with pressure or a stressful situation?

Stressful situations are inevitable and I learned to navigate them successful throughout my college career and my various internships. The first time I came across a stressful situation was in my Sophomore year. I worked as a customer service representative at a big department store and it was holiday season. You can imagine the amount of pressure - long lines of customers all waiting to get attended too. Instead of succumbing to the pressure I made sure to really understand the pain point of each customer which were long wait times and stock outs. If we were out of one brand of sparkling water, I would quickly recommend a different brand. If lines were long, I would go to the floor to help the bagging process. Customers left feeling satisfied with their shopping experience. Overtime, I have realized that the key to dealing with pressure is willingly choosing to complete the tasks with a positive mindset instead of worrying.

Do you prefer working independently or on a team?

I like a mix of both. I enjoy working on a team. The process of strategizing with my teammates on the best way to approach a problem allows for critical analysis and diverse points of view. Wh I also build camaraderie and trust with them while we tackle big problems. I enjoy working alone as well because I get to see how I approach different problems and compare my current performance to my previous ones. Working alone also gives me an opportunity to get feedback from my managers on my progress or areas of improvement. I like a balance of both.

How do you keep yourself organized when balancing multiple projects?

I am used to working on multiple projects. A typical semester for me is juggling between my classes, weekend job, extracurricular activities, and passion projects. So to stay on top of my deadlines and due dates I like to prioritize my tasks based on their level of urgency and importance. I use the time blocking method to schedule time for my projects. I take advantage of tools like Google calendar to keep track of due dates and appointments and Notion to manage big projects.

What did you do in the last year to improve your knowledge?

Last summer, I took some time off to really learn about veganism. It seemed intimidating at first because I did not know enough. So I turned to research to understand the facts. I began making home-cooked meals by following recipes from people I trusted and liked on YouTube. As I began noticing changes in my gut health and productivity levels, I started a blog to share my experiences. Now my blog has over 500 enthusiastic vegans who are on the same journey as I am. it was one of the best investment I made in myself.

Merlin Loregasm Rewatch S1E9

Hi Everyone! Welcome to my rewatch of Merlin focusing on the lore. I am a giant nerd so pretty excited about this. We’re on EXCALIBUR

Uther: Now, being of age, And the Heir apparent, from hence forth you shall be crown prince of Camelot Okay so Arthur is now crown prince of Camalot. And of age. we know hes at Least 20 so of age is likley 21 in this world which is interesting because it implies lifespans are longer due to the more advanced medicine, Normally the medieval OF AGE was 16 years old. Also, see the golden ring placed around Arthurs head? Yeah thats called a Coronet and was traditionally worn by crown princes at formal occasions (Like we will see Arthur do)

It is a bit odd he was not considered crown prince already since he was the oldest royal child (And only royal child as far as people know) So even if Primogeniture (Inheridence by oldest son) was not a thing he would STILL be crown prince. See a crown prince IS the heir apparent of a royal kingdom. And Heir apparent is the one who is going to succeed the king. And cannot be displaces by the birth of another prince. So if he was heir apparent he pretty much was already was Crown prince. My guess is this is traditionally reaffirmed in Camalot when a prince comes of age,

I also like the use of the word peoples because it kinda hints that Camalot is big enough to have multiple peoples within its lands. Which if the theory from the Lancelot episode is true would be the case.

WHOOO Okay I think we have an answer. Devil is VERY Christian. So I'm going with there being some very weird semi paganized version of Christianity existing in Camalot that is left over from the Romans and just got mixed with local traditions. I therorized about this in one loregasm and I'm sticking with it because they ARE VERY MUCH not full on Catholic or Eastern Orthadox. And there are still a lot of pagan elements.

Throwing down a Gauntlet as a challenge is a custom of the late medieval era. It was considered a GRAVE insult and HAD to be picked up to accept the challenge if one wanted to keep ones honnor.

HI Sir Owain! Lesse in the original legends you were a Child of Urrian of Gore and Morgana. You had a pet Lion! You defeated a evil knight and married his widow, Then neglected your wife because you were too busy doing knight stuff. She ditches you and you go mad with grief and live naked in the woods. Then Morgana cures you and you win back your wife. Also, you are one of the last to die before Arthur at Cammlan. Have I mentioned how much I love that Merlin sometimes just goes NAH let's kill em instead?

Okay this is a HUGE boon for us lore wise, See we don't know that much about the personality of Yygraines family. (or a ton about her's for that matter) BUT if it's his crest not a family crest it means HE picked it. So we can use heraldry to learn a bit about him!

So the symbol he uses is an Eagle this represents strength and courage and often has to do with military skill and leadership. It can also represent freedom, and independance and the ability to see things clearly. black represents constancy or grief and white peace and sincerity.

So Tristan was likely a strong man and military leader who was sincere and constant in his personality. He likley tended to perfer peace but when pushed to it would fight well. He might have been independent minded as well showing by making his own crest.

OOCLY the show could be telling us that it is likley telling us this man was RIGHT about Uther being at fault. One way or another. And his act in standing up to Uther was a courageous one. OR its also possible he took up this sigil after Ygraines's death If so his very crest and oufit is blaming and taunting Uther! But that is just my assessment!

HI Sir Pellinor! Lesse in the original legends you were the king of Listeoise (Lake District) Or of "the Illes." You killed king Lot, And hunted the Questing Beast relentlessly. You were killed by Gwaine. You were also Percival's dad. (Among other kids.)

Othanden can mean Out Of Hand in Danish. Otherwise I cannot find much on this. My guess is this battle would have taken place in the previously mentioned war with Mercia

Gaius: Tristan De Bois was the brother of Ygraine -- Uther's wife

Merlin: Arthur's Mother?

Gaius: Ygraine died in childbirth. He blamed Uther and came to the gates of Camalot and Challanged him.

Merlin: to single combat?

Gaius: Uther won, but with his dying breath Traistan cursed Camalot to one day suffer his return. I thought it was the ramblings of a dying man. People Estimate the chances of death in childbirth in the middle ages to be the cause of 50 percent of young female fatalities. Giving birth was incredably dangerous. (And most woman did it many time though less so in the Merlin world) For in the actual birthing process and the chance of childbed fever afterward. So this is likley an early clue to the fact that there was somthing supernatural going on with Arthur's birth. No one in their right mind blamed a man for the death of their wife in childbirth ESPECIALLY if said wife was having their first birth and not too old or too young.

Now in the Merlin world I would guess death in childbirth of woman is at a much lower rate. For two reasons. First of all The more advanced medicine would make it a bit less common. (Though they do not have modern medicine or germ theory or modern technology so not by much) The other reason being IN merlin families seem to be small compared to the huge ones of the middle ages. (Hinting Child Mortality is not as high) So less chances for a woman to die. STILL it likely would have been fairly common.

Now to the interesting fact that Ygraine came from France! Implying contact and trade with them. See Ygraine is the french version of Arthur's mother's name And we've talked about the last name in previous posts.

"Came to the gates of Camalot castle and challenged him" is interesting because it means he was not in Camalot. SO HOW would he know about Uther's involvement in Ygraine's death? My guess is it lies in the "one day suffer his return" See here we have another "How would he know." My guess is the man was some sort of seer. Or magic user. Ygraine was said to have been pretty friendly with many magic users. It's possible magic (or being a seer) ran in her family. The other option of her somehow writing him and knowing about the whole magic to conceive thing is also possible but doesn't explain knowing he would return, Nimue could just have been using something he said randomly but I don't really think so? OR he was just crazy? And was attacking Uther for what he thought was a normal childbirth death? That would be REALLY weird. though. And the later "it was magic that killed her not I" and "never the less it was you he blamed" Seems to go against this option

Gaius: My guess is we're dealing with a Wraith.

Merlin: A wraith?

Gaius: The spirit of a dead man conjured from the grave.

Merlin: So this is the work of a sorcerer

Gaius: Powerful Magic can harness the greif and rage of a demanted soul and make it live again

Merlin: How do we stop it?

Gaius: We can't, Because its not alive no mortal weapon can kill it

Merlin: Surly there must be somthing

Gaius: Nothing can stop it until it has achived what it came for

Gaius: Revenge.

Wraith is a Scottish word for ghost that has become a more general term. It can also mean the exact likeness of a person seen before death as a death omen, (A soul who was on the verge of death or recently passed on) From there the meaning has evolved to many many different things.

Geoferry is not in on it! Its likely Arthurs birth magic is not in the court records of the purge! (Theorized about this perviously)

Nimueh: She died giving birth to your son. it was not my choice. That is the law of Magic. to create a life there had to be a death, the balance of the world had to be repaired

Uther: you knew it would kill her

Nimueh: No you're wrong. If I had forseen her death and the terrible retrebution you would seek. I would never have granted your wish.

Ok first of all we know from later Nimugh has a bit of control of who dies. Hinting that something interfered here causing it to be Ygraine. (I totally don't have headcanons about this you will eventually see in my fics)

ALSO, I find it interesting he says "Evil" not "evil sorcery," I think he truly belives all magic is evil. I mean every villain is a good guy in their own mind.

BUT he was also freinds with Nimueh and welcomed her to Camalot. So he didn't always think all magic was evil. It seems it truely was Ygraines death that caused that. I always wondered if part was just an excuse in his mind because he was insecure that other people had so much power and perhaps helped him build the kingdom with it. So they could tear it down. I think Nimueh was court sorcerer. And helped him take over the kingdom, but that's just my headcannon.

Also gotta wonder what kinda person Ygraine was that Uther fell so deeply in love with her.

Gwen: My father's been saving this. Hes always said it was the best sword he's ever made.

Merlin: its perfect

Gwen: He'll kill me if he find's I've taken it

Merlin: He'll understand, You did it for arthur. I've talked about this before but this is more evidence that Gwen's family, while commoners, are not the same level of poor as most. Making swords and armor, especially good ones was a skilled art. And those things were EXPENSIVE. Tom is not the royal swordsmith so its HIGHLY likely he rivals the royal swordsmith in skill enough to have some knights of Camalot (The people who can actually afford arms and armor) Buy or get repairs done from him instead. (This is a big deal he must be VERY good) There are not many other people he could be making swords and armor for. I suppose there might be some mercenaries and freelancers who are rich enough for swords and perhaps VERY RARLY full on armor. He makes armor that is of the quality nobles wear, And can afford to just give it to people. we know this from Lancelot. I think he must do other typical blacksmithing AND Arms and armor for knights. So I see two possibilities. Either they consistently live at a level above the poverty of most commoners

OR Every now and then he gets a commission that makes them richer for a bit. With Gwen ALSO being such a good seamstress and Also considering they seem to be able to give away armor (Cough Lancelot cough) I think the first option is more likely, or perhaps its a mix of the two. To be clear they are not rich. I'm not saying they are rich. I'm saying they seem to be above most commoners in wealth. Also, wealth did not matter as much as Class in the middle ages anyway.

Him putting his best sword away might be some form of insurance He's still a commoner and is not guaranteed work because he is not the royal smith. And what if there is some emergency or a time when he doesn't get any of the fine commissions for a while?

Uther: You knew that one day this business would come back to haunt me.

Gaius: not quite so litteraly

Uther: I should have listened to you. You said that no good would come of using witchcraft at Arthur's birth

Gaius: you wanted an heir you thought it was the only way.

Uther: Nimueh told me there would be a pice to pay

Gaius: You weren't to know that price would be Ygraines life

OKAY first of all does this mean that GAIUS was not the one to suggest using magic? Then WTF was Uther talking about in that conversation about something being stupid to do "because Gaius said it was so" back in the poisoned chalice? Was Gaius just the messanger? It means it might explain more why Gauis lived if he was not the one to suggust it. Perhaps Uther asked Gaius if he knew a way and Gaius said he did but no good would come of it? Or Gaius was indeed just the messenger? BUT WHY DID HE NEED A MESSENGER IF NIMUEH WAS AT COURT. I swear when this is all done I'm going over all of these and doing a summary of possible answers to some questions!

Merlin: will your Bunrish it to save Arthur

Killy: The dead do not return without reason, who has he come for.

Merlin: Uther

Killy: Then let him take his Vengance and the wraith will die without my aid.

Merlin: But it's Arthur who is going to fight him! You have to save him

Killy: You do not know You can only guess. You have not seen what I've seen. If you had perhaps you would not ask this of me.

Merlin: what do you mean?

Killy: In the wrong hands this sword could do great evil

Burnishing typically means polishing metal until it shines. Figuratively it can mean to enhance or perfect something. I think this is an interesting word to use and possibly implies a sword like Excalibur would never need to be polished again.

Also I'm pretty convinced one thing Killy is talking about here is how most of the high priestesses died. Remember mortal swords can not kill Morgana by the time of her death. There could be many other incidents too. However seeing as Excalibur mostly functions as a normal sword until one is up against undead or borderline imortals I think this could be a main focus. Of course it does bring up the question of if there were other swords and what happened to them if this is true. Because if this was the case I SERIOUSLY doubt Uther would have let such swords just vanish. Then again as far as we know the sword that killed Arthur was just used as a grave maker. ALSO as far as we know those are the only dragon-burnished swords we see in the show. Which means there are others either just hidden places, or out there with people having no clue as to their powers because they just found them somewhere and were like cool sword! The later kinda amuses me. Just some random dude around having no idea their sword is a WOID (Weapon Of Immortal Destruction)

Uther: Who made it?

Merlin: uh, tom the blacksmith

Uther: Its worthy of a king

Merlin: You would be better off with a sword your trusted

Uther: No, It has almost Perfect balance. Tom's not the Royal swordsmith I'm supprised Arthur went to him.

Merlin: That was me.

(This is the line I keep referring to about how Gwen's dad is not the royal swordsmith.)

The balance point on a sword is where you can lay it over a finger and not have it fall, Its center of weight. Usually its just a bit above the hilt. This is why most swords had pommels

If there is too much weight in the direction of the grip the trikes from it will not be fast and smooth, Also you will have a hard time pushing your opponents blade around. while if there is too much on the blade it will take longer to recover from a blow.

Nature, culture and colonial power were inextricably implicated in the production of scientific knowledge and of colonial society. [...] The establishment the Public Works Department in 1854 provided fresh impetus for the deployment of science and technology in grappling with problems precipitated by colonial rule. Declining revenues for the Company focused attention on gigantic irrigation and other public works projects. [...]

The irrigation projects were expanded to include the railways (1849), the telegraph (1852), and the postal system (1850). Together, they represented the largest state-sponsored enterprise undertaken anywhere at that time. Lord Dalhousie, under whose tenure these projects were inaugurated, declared the railways, the telegraph and the postal system as the ‘three great engines of social improvement’.

His predecessor William Bentinck had already termed the railways ‘the great engine of moral improvement’ in a country ‘cursed from one end to the other by the vice, the ignorance, [...] the barbarous and cruel customs that have been the growth of ages under every description of Asian misrule’ [...]. Later observers were to wax ever more eloquent on the role of the railways in the modernization of India. For W. A. Rogers of the Indian Civil Service, railways ‘are opening the eyes of the people … they teach them that speed attained is time, and therefore money, saved or made’ (Adas1989: 226). The importance of a network of railways, connecting the cotton plantations of the Deccan region to the ports became significant especially during the 'cotton famine' of 1846 [...].

Almost immediately after Dalhousie left India, secure in the belief that the double engines of moral improvement and legitimacy were at work, the rebellion of 1857 put an end to such expectations. The latex tightened over her hands with every swift movement, a dreadful feeling if you’d pay too much attention to it. Besides, the day would be over soon and she could toss them right into the trash to worry about a later pair. The hands of the clock ticked in relief, showing that she was only working a few hours overtime. Almost twelve in the morning, and only two were left in the building. Her, and the owner, Mr.weiss. He would be in the service part of the parlor, whereas she’d be in the cold ground floor — basement. It wasn’t such a stark contrast, both still harbored the dead one way or another.

Except, in the brighter territory of the funeral home, everything was comfortably organized. Flowers for every occasion were placed on just about any flat surface. Combinations of blackthorn and lilies, or maybe carnations and orchids. It all depended on the requests of each customer, just as every decoration for the occasion. Each day a new casket sat in waiting; mahogany, oak, spruce. All of different sizes, all sitting in perfect stillness, just as the bodies that rested in them did. Posed to leave the audience with some sort of resolution, though she hardly believed that it worked with all the wailing she could hear from the basement. She never could force her way up there to spectate.

So she stayed to prepare the next display. In the night, usually. Where she could play her cds, keeping it on low volume to be respectful. The music she played never matched the symphonies or hymns that Mr.weiss directed for the occasion, but she handpicked each artist to match the lives laid out on her table. Only being able to assume what they’d enjoy from her collection. The smashing pumpkins played tonight, Mellon collie and the infinite sadness. It was the first album she thought of when glancing upon him. A man in his late thirties, his hair of ragged texture, as if he had neglected to take care of his curl pattern.

Wrinkles ran around his lips, as if a smile was the only thing he had left behind. Crows feet beneath his eyelids from bunching his face up too often. Pale skin put the reference photo she was given to shame. The photo showed the stranger as laid back, a calm grin on his face as he wrapped an arm around someone off the camera. The washed out band tee he wore almost made her feel guilty. He would be buried in a navy blue suit, one that was a little too pristine for him. Ingenuine, but presentable; just as most families aimed for. Still, he seemed like the kind of guy that wouldn’t have even minded. It was only fair that she listen to something he might’ve enjoyed as she carved and embalmed.

Embalming was an invasive procedure, but necessary. Even if she had practically spilled this man’s guts, she didn’t know anything about his life. Just that it was over, and he’d be six feet under tomorrow morning. His mother had chosen lavender and violets, flowers ironically grown to represent peace. She wondered if that was what he was, at peace. With a final glance towards the photo, she pulled herself out of the assumption based envy. A frown pulled at the corners of her lips in slight disappointment, he didn’t even look like the same person. The morgue door swung open in a tired manner, distracting her from her doubts. Mr.weiss, who could only be a few years older than the man on the table, entered.

In her head, she could imagine that the two shared a sense of tranquility for life. She didn’t know how, especially with the kind of role he took in the funeral home. He was the director, the one who faced the grieving widows, children, parents. The ones who had to strive for perfect order, just so the mourning wouldn’t lose their heads over a mishap. They didn’t deserve the heavy task. She could only work behind the scenes, doing the gruesome work of preparation. That was a different kind of remorse on its own.

“How are you holding up down here, freezing yet?” He joked lightly, a quiet kindness toned his words, showing that he was still actually asking. He was a good boss, definitely one of the better ones she had. It was easy to look up to him.

“Always,” She huffed, “but it’s I’d rather be in here than out there.” She nodded towards the wall, gesturing to the jersey winter. It at least helped to insulate the room.

“Well, unfortunately you’re done — aren’t you?” He nodded his own head towards the corpse on the table, already dressed and ready. He was right, meaning her preference towards being inside wouldn’t matter for much longer. She’d still have to trudge the streets all the way back to the apartment complex. With a hum, she pulled the white sheet back over the man’s face. It was odd, to talk about him as if he weren’t even there. She was glad to shuck the gloves off,the cold air seeping back onto her skin as she did so.

”i am.”

“Alright, well, i trust you to lock up,” he shifted the files under his arm, “i promised my wife I’d at least be back before 12:30.”

Janie wandered to the sink to turn the faucet on. She only nodded absentmindedly in response, focusing on the task at hand. She didn’t hold any grudges over him. He had a lot more going on in his life than she did, why argue over the simple task of locking some doors? Unlike some people she knew. He left with a small ‘thank you’, she always said ‘no problem’. When she turned back around to grab hold of a paper towel, she realized just how silent it had gotten.

The cd had long shut off, the songs deciding not to auto-repeat. She was the only soul left, besides the dead guy. Not a single person would happily be lurking around, only the eerie silence lingered in return. With dried hands, she could finally raise them to push her glasses back up the bridge of her nose. The red frames settled back into the corner of her vision, where she’d go cross-eyed trying to look at them. A familiar prick at her spine caused her to jump ahead, reminding her that it was in fact time to go.

With her jacket zipped back up, the scrub wear gone, she was departing. Her messenger bag swung side to side as she shut the lights off to the morgue. She’d come back for her cd another day. It was still early, and even she had a few dull goals to complete. She had to stop by the dollar general closest to her street. It was the only place open late enough half the time. She was sure most of the groceries in her fridge came from there. This time it was cat food she required, having made her own promise to the feline that she hid from the landlord.

A light smile replaced the blank, exhausted expression upon her face. Maybe bandit would enjoy some new treats , she thought as she traipsed up the stairs. Being met with the dark hallway was never a pleasant sight, but it was necessary to get to the front door. All the way from the back of the parlor, she had memorized the steps taken to get out. Past the file rooms, past the office and staff kitchen, and then past the open doored service room. It was always a little disturbing to pass it.

It stood to the right of her, the shadows casted over the seats and podium. In front of it laid the casket, where the dark had planted itself as well. Her gaze flickered way from it and to the front door instead, where she could see the street lamps waiting for her. Sneakers padded across the hard floors, almost rushing to get to the end of their path. Tonight was different. That usual closer paranoia had set in too early, and she found herself unusually glancing back. Halting immediately as one of the doors to the service room turned on its hinges. It took her a moment to decide on the reasoning. Maybe she had hit it with her bag when passing? Subconsciously her hand moved to grip the strap, brows furrowed now and the urge just to check came to mind.

The doors were always left open for a reason, she assumed. With faint steps, she moved towards it. Her trademark quietness now one of fear as she neared the dark opening. Ghosts weren’t real. The parlor was old, older than her and Mr.weiss combined. Silly ideas filled her thoughts as she stepped before the room, only one door left open to peer inside. The dark was still there, nothing too peculiar. Her hand reached for the handle of the closed one, pulling it back open. Just as she set it back into place, rattle of a flower vase distracted her again. Just enough to where she could see it balancing back onto it’s base, by the casket.

It was stupid to even debate going over there. But what if the flowers had gotten ruined? What if they weren’t settled properly? The corpse in the basement would have the possibility of crumpled flowers at his funeral. A disappointing sight to behold , really. Stupid rationalities poised her courage, it had to have been just some shotty placement. Probably Ryan’s fault. With a small sigh, her fear turned towards annoyance at her co-workers laziness. It made the most sense, he never cared for proper decoration. With the little light he had from the windows behind the podium, she could at least fix it.

Stepping further into the room, only to look over her shoulder — as if to make sure that the doors were wide open for her escape. They were. Upon better vision, the room was always put together. All those seats placed in order, the vases lined the room in a delicate but not overcrowding manner, and the religious paraphernalia preferred would’ve hung just above the speaker. There wasn’t a cross in sight this time, for once, she might’ve felt safer with it. Especially as she landed on the casket, the lid closed. It was supposed to be open, for visitation. Wasn’t it just open?

Her eyes were playing tricks on her. She reasoned with hesitate ease, her hands grazing over the wood in a leftover suspicious manner. Suddenly, her subtle paranoia had become a raging alarm. Her heart slammed against her ribcage, as if it were trying to run away — or to get her to do so. Her hand hooked under the lid, and in a mindless, quick motion she lifted it. Empty. Of course it was, what had she even expected?

“Maybe i need to cut it on the zombie flicks,” she mumbled as she went to turn. Her head didn’t get to swivel far enough before a sting met its side. Before she could even holler, leather pressed over her mouth. Kicking was useless. Rigor mortis had set in and her limbs betrayed her thoughts. She slurred over her tongue, as if trying to figure out if she were even still alive or not. The void of the room morphed with her tunnel vision, leaving her last thoughts to be unsure.

Okay, so here's the immediate train of thought I had when I saw that:

"Oh, it's just like that customer service representative who said Gavus and Eugene are just friends bc some dudes were disgusted by idea that they're basically a married couple with kids. So, in this case, they had to slap on that heteronormative childhood sweetheart thing so that no more random disgruntled homophobe will bother their CSRs just to ask if Eironn and Lorsan and/or Lyca and Florabelle are fruity. lol Ngl, I'm not even mad at this cover up. 😂"

Seriously though, if they genuinely wanted Eironn to be Lyca's "childhood sweetheart," they should've shown any indication that either of them had at least a puppy crush on the other; or like, talk about some sweet memories from the past. But who actually talked about some sweet intimate memories? Florabelle. And how did Lyca react? She got flustered — even before talking to Florabelle. Even the mere mention of her name had her stuttering.

On the other hand, all Eironn talked in relation to Lyca was how they (including Lorsan) grew up together and then, Lorsan said he left the forest in pursuit of improving his sword skills. When Eironn fought corrupted Eomir alongside his friends, he said some heartwarming things about everyone, including Lyca. During that short fight with Lyca bc of his stubborn habit of fighting alone, it didn't even end up remotely romantic. They just casually reconciled like, "We good? Mm'kay, we good, homie." And moved on with the journey. Heck, they don't even have any correlation with each other in afkA. ಠ⁠‿⁠ಠ
