Scenecore!Joe Hills custom doll

This was a custom doll made for @batlesbianism! I had a lot of fun working on this since I'd never used a male Descendants doll as a base before, so I drafted all the patterns myself. Time-consuming but very worth it to get exactly what I wanted out of the final product!

Also doll glasses: way harder to make than they have any right to be, but so satisfying to complete. I'll need to make some more to get the method down.

Introducing Bibi!!! She’s not quite done but since she’s almost together I wanted to show her off :D

I did her faceup and paws myself! I also painted her some kitty ears and a tail but I’m having trouble getting the ears to attach to the head so for now she’s in a rainbow high cat headband that really doesn’t match her aesthetic at all 😅

I’m also considering changing her eyes. I kinda like the dark red look but they don’t really match my vision for her. I had other eyes that I ordered for her but they didn’t end up looking right :/ I have plans to get different eyes in the future but for now these will do!

Here’s a little before and after, plus her next to Lulu. They’re the same model but with totally different vibes!!

Today's faceup is on a Pipos R.PI Charlotte in grey akin, along with a manicure and tail blush. She was a fun commission to work on, as I've always wanted to work on a Pipos doll!

I have a before and after of her, the previous faceup was done by the owner, but they wanted a more experienced hand for her fresh faceup. I was happy to oblige!

okay, at long last, we have our doll repaint (and video) finished! Between me being perpetually ill for over a month, my editing app playing up AGAIN, a sudden and unexpected puppy rescue, and then Storm Darragh cutting all my power, water, heat and wifi for days, this one has taken me forever. But, now I can finally introduce Griselda Goblin! As well as the accompanying YouTube video! (Please watch, I think my unintentional leave of absence will have ruined my algorithm placement 😅)

decora’s finally got her face and clothes back! super happy with the repaint, i think it makes her look even more fun than before, and i had a ton of fun doing the repaint itself. considering going back to pick up another one….

MY FIRST ACTUAL FACEUP!!!

So the actual doll is still a WIP. I want to put her on a little sister body I think so I'm waiting for rn. But her faceup is finished!!!

This is my first genuine attempt at a faceup and I could not be more pleased with how it came out.

It's not perfect and on camera it looks a little streaky/patchy but I'm so happy with her :))

I have some fine/brush tip acrylic pens which is what I used for the faceup. I've tried gouache and acrylic before but I never really felt like it went on very smooth so the paint pens are really game changing for me.

I used one of those blank CAM faces. It was actually one I have had since I was a kid. One of the ones that you could stamp temporary tattoo faces on, which is why the face looks so flat.

Right now her head and her little bracelet are on a knockoff Wydowna body I use for testing and accessory painting until I get her an actual permanent body.

the new pixelated barbie faces are horrible to remove. ive tried following reddit advice on leaving soaked cotton balls of pure acetone on their faces for 20-30 min before trying to scrub the paint off but that barely even made a dent, and i repeated it like 3 times, ive only been able to get like 40% of the paint off at best. elbow grease seems to basically do nothing regardless.

due to getting careless from frustration i also accidentally got some acetone on their bodies so they have some melted scars now :( which sucks bc i bought them for their MTM bodies to begin with and removing the facepaint and repainting them was just supposed to be something unimportant to do with their old heads while i figure out what new heads to put on them..... so, lesson learned, pop the heads off before attempting to remove the paint on the pixelated dolls bc all the hard work makes it way more likely to accidentally damage the bodies.

anyone have any other advice about removing the pixelated facepaints than this "leave cotton soaked in acetone on them"?

So I FINALLY finished my first custom doll. This doll gave me a LOT of trouble and I almost gave up. But I persisted and now she exists!!!!

There’s a lot I’d change or do differently in the future, but for now, I’m just happy to have completed a project 🥰

Some mods I made: her jacket was originally a shirt but I added a little pin and sewed sequins on the back. I also made her the little bead bracelet as well as the belt and necklace. I also added purple glitter to her shoes and two gems to her headphones.

Also in this closeup you can see how crazy messy her face is. Originally it was much cleaner but I had so many issues with her eyes that it got super messed up so I repainted part of it and added more glitter. In a way I think it was a good thing, because I was inspired by some dolls that had super grungy glitter makeup and I think I wasn’t brave enough to make her that messy. By accidentally roughing up her original faceup I was forced to add the grunge element I wanted. So it all worked out in the end! And I’m glad I learned how to add the eyes neatly in the end because now I know how to keep that from happening to the other shadow high custom I’m working on!!

I’ve decided to name her Dottie ^u^
