Custom Care Bear - Sulley Bear! (Monsters Inc.)

I was a little bored last week, just chatting with some friends on a discord server, and I felt like sewing, so I asked if anyone would like a custom Care Bear.  One of our group members, the always creative @thrawnsromcom , had an interesting suggestion -- a Monsters Inc themed bear based on Sulley. 

 I just so happened to have a 2018 “Easter” Wish Bear in a lamb costume, as seen in this pic:

l had got her as part of a bulk lot, and honestly had no idea what to do with her.  She ended up being perfect to “cosplay” as something else!

I used a felt-layering technique to make the tummy symbol, with sparkly embroidered outlines.  The pupil of the eye is also embroidered, and scraps of blue fabric from the M made for the perfect foot claws.

The horns are custom made, out of purple cotton.  The hood can still be pulled back, showing regular Care Bear ears underneath.

The old lamb ears were repurposed to make Sulley’s tail! 

Finally, I made a “Little Mikey” plushie to go along with him.  I found the pattern for Little Mikey at the linked youtube video, though I had to modify it a bit due to how tiny the “plushie’s plushie” ended up being.

Little Mikey’s eye and mouth are also hand-embroidered.

Still wish I could have figured out how to give him Sulley’s purple fur splotches (I don’t think I could have pulled off dyeing him without messing up the rest of his fur), but I think he turned out pretty good, all things considering :D

Custom true heart and togetherness bear

So Walmart has a bunch of your care bears for 8.50 at the moment, so I finally decided to go ahead and buy a couple of togetherness bears and a true heart to make my own custom true heart you see it always bugged me since her release that our true heart was pink when she’s not supposed to be pink and I figured if I was going this far, I might as well go ahead and make a noble heart as well since I’ve always wanted one and an original is never going to happen he like $600 I still need to go to either Joannes or Hobby lobby to get the rest of the

stuff to make my noble heart but here’s the finished true heart as well Has her togetherness counterpart with my togetherness bear from her original run in the middle has reference. I don’t currently have a good place to take pictures of her so I’ll try to upload some more later

honestly i'm beyond thrilled that they truly acknowledge oopsy as a disabled bear. now if we could get them to also actually use the word autistic, i'd be ecstatic. but as it stands, seriously them saying that oopsy is disabled is a big thing (they did not use to put it that way, he was only clumsy and had struggles)

Sylvanian family care bear babies custom! Cheer bear, good luck bear and swift heart bunny.

I don't think these bears are real Sylvanian families as their arms do not move but I got them in an old damaged bundle of Sylvanians and wanted to give them a new life!

Custom Care Bear - Justice Bear

I made a new custom care bear for a holiday gift exchange at work.  I work at a law firm, so meet Justice Bear

She’s made from a 1980s Kenner Grams Bear.  I actually made the tummy symbol first this time, and out of the bears in my customizable bin, she matched best.  I just love how wise her silvery fur makes her look!

Her tummy symbol are hand-embroidered scales of justice, sat atop of two law books.  I used Satin Stitch for most, with running stitch for the chains holding up the scales.  This symbol was designed by my husband, and I think he did a pretty good job.

I painted her nose red to match the burgundy of one of the books.  

It was an interesting gift exhange, where everyone brought in an inexpensive “surprise” gift, and you could either pick one of the bags, or “steal” one already picked by another person (up to an extent).  My bear ended up going to my supervisor!  I’m thrilled, because I know he’ll appreciate her!  He actually has her sat up on top of his desk, and shows her off to everyone who goes by!

Meet Eclipse Bear!

My mom and i are gonna make this guy for the eclipse in April. I love celestial themed bears! i’m buying the materials and my mom is gonna sew it together. I get to stuff the bear wee. i bought a bedtime bear making kit blueprint thing. i’m also gonna buy him accessories like glasses a hat and maybe binoculars if there are any in build a bear size. will post the guy when he’s done
