This measure, if passed in Senate, would make it illegal for the US State Department to cite genocide statistics.
In other words, illegal to do its job.

the most disturbing thing isn’t dude bros voting for trump. the most disturbing thing is women, trans, queer, disabled people and people of color voting for trump. it’s disheartening seeing how many women, trans, queer, disabled people and people of color turn out to be trump supporters.
sorry but that man isn’t going to protect you when he’s president. you are betraying your own communities who are trying to protect you at best, voted your own rights away at worst. and for what?

EDIT: I've now made a post that you can read here with more information about the ICJ rulings, their powers and what we can do with this ruling here. I had to this morning and will continue to delete, report, and block all comments/asks that are anti-Arab, zionist, Islamophobic, racist, and/or antisemitic.
We already knew this but the ICJ has now ruled that Israel's continued occupation of Palestine is illegal and needs to end ASAP.
They found that Israel's occupation does not give it the right of sovereignty over the West Bank and Gaza and that it is not a temporary occupation but is an illegal, permanent and discriminatory annexation. The ICJ also found violence against Palestinians, Israeli exploitation of Palestinian natural resources, transfer of civilian population (settlers and companies/organisations), extension of Israeli laws to replace local Palestinian laws, forced displacement of Palestinians, confiscation of Palestinian land, annexation. That Israel's 'security concerns' are not valid justifications for any of these measures.
The ICJ has ordered Israel to end its presence in the West Bank and Gaza immediately and to cease all new settlement activity, return all lands and assets to Palestinians that they've ceased since 1967 and that includes archives and items of cultural significance, evacuate all of their settlers from the settlements, pay compensation, and repeal all laws that maintain this occupation and discrimination. The ICJ is not legally-binding but does carry significant political weight and this ruling is important for continuing to advocate for Palestine and to put pressure on our government's to do the right thing and for them to put pressure on Israel. Keep contacting your representatives!

(Note: See updated post) The new DRAFT U.N. Resolution, set to be voted on today, calls for:
• ... “urgent and extended humanitarian pauses” in the fighting throughout Gaza and the opening of corridors inside the enclave “for a sufficient number of days to enable full, rapid, safe and unhindered humanitarian access.” • U.N. Secretary General António Guterres to appoint a senior coordinator “with responsibility for facilitating, coordinating, monitoring, and verifying in Gaza, as appropriate, the humanitarian nature” of all assistance, and demands that “the parties to the conflict cooperate with the coordinator to fulfill their mandate without delay or obstruction.” • ... “immediate and unconditional” release of the hostages. It also demands that “all parties to the conflict comply with their obligations under international law ... including with regard to the conduct of hostilities and the protection of civilians and civilian objects.” • It reiterates the council’s “unwavering commitment” to a two-state solution for Israelis and Palestinians and stresses the importance of unifying the Gaza Strip with the West Bank under the Palestinian Authority.” (12/22/23 | Source: WaPo)
Although the resolution's language was toned down, this is a sign of progress. While such measures are long overdue and should have been honored from the start, we must do everything possible to meet the urgent humanitarian needs in Gaza and relieve unfathomable suffering.
DON'T STOP POSTING. KEEP UP THE PUBLIC PRESSURE. DEFEND HUMAN RIGHTS.
Stay tuned for today's vote.

DEMAND A RECOUNT!!
to all my american followers, it is your right as a citizen of this country to have your vote counted. many elements call this election into question. you can directly contact the white house about this.
click on this text to go to the white house's website
submit directly to the president
click the first option and select your reasoning as election security
state these pieces of information in a paragraph:
32 fake bomb threats were called into democratic-leaning polling places, which caused the polls to be closed for at least an hour
people are reporting their ballots weren't counted for various unsound reasons (signature invalidation, information that the vote counter couldn't have had)
this all occurred in swing states (pennsylvania, nevada, georgia)
it's all too coincidental that these things happen and swing in trump's favor after months of hinting at foul play
directly state that an investigation for tampering/interference/fraud is required -- not just a recount
(this information is ripped from tweenyseeks on twitter, but i feel justified in sharing it, as the fate of the american people is in the balance)

the UK's 'anti-BDS' boycott bill is returning to parliament for a third reading and vote Wednesday 10th of January.
this proposed law is not aimed at individuals, it would be impossible to stop people from boycotting, but instead targets public bodies like universities, public sectors, and councils in the UK. this would prevent public bodies from making ethical choices about where they want to invest their employee's pension funds. e.g. pension funds could be invested into companies that make arms for countries committing genocide.
the anti-boycott bill explicitly mentions Israel, trying to give them protection from public body boycotts as well as undermine the Palestinian led campaign for boycotting. it's disgusting and disgraceful.
share and reblog this post with your UK friends if you are not a UK resident.
UK residents, contact your MP and demand they oppose the anti-boycott bill. Palestine Solidary Campaign UK have an email template here.
UK residents, if you are able to join, Palestine Solidarity Campaign have organised a protest during the anti-boycott bill vote, Wednesday 10th of January outside of Parliament, London.
UK residents, if you are able to join, Palestine Solidarity Campaign UK have organised their 7th National March for Palestine, Saturday 13th of January in London.
