Advantages of Home Physiotherapy over Traditional Physiotherapy
When it comes to physiotherapy, many people are accustomed to visiting a clinic or hospital for their sessions. However, home physiotherapy offers several advantages over traditional physiotherapy settings.
Firstly, home physiotherapy eliminates the need for commuting to a clinic or hospital, saving you valuable time and energy. This is particularly beneficial for individuals with limited mobility or those who find it challenging to travel long distances. Instead of spending hours on the road, you can simply relax and prepare for your session in the comfort of your own home.
Secondly, home physiotherapy provides a more personalized and focused approach to treatment. In a clinic, physiotherapists often have multiple patients to attend to at the same time, leading to divided attention. With home physiotherapy, you can enjoy one-on-one sessions with your physiotherapist, ensuring that you receive the undivided attention and care you deserve. This personalized approach allows for a deeper understanding of your specific needs and enables your physiotherapist to tailor the treatment plan to suit your requirements.
Lastly, home physiotherapy offers a more relaxed and comfortable environment for your sessions. Being in a familiar setting can help alleviate anxiety and stress often associated with medical appointments. You can feel at ease and more open to discussing your concerns, which can further enhance the effectiveness of your treatment.
In summary, home physiotherapy provides the advantages of convenience, personalized attention, and a comfortable environment. These benefits make it an attractive option for individuals seeking a transformative healing journey in Gurgaon.

Tim going absolutely feral in his attempts to get Mockingjay away from Hood.
Sure, all of the Bats want to rescue the kid, but they don't really get the danger the kid is in, they are still under the impression Hood cares about keeping the kid safe.
But Tim SAW what Hood is like at the Titans Tower, okay? Hood is freaking insane. Doesn't matter if he cares about the kid or not, he's going to end up hurting, maybe killing, the boy in one of his 'episodes'.
And Tim will do anything to get the kid to come away, to understand what Hood is doing.
He's not going to bother with kid gloves. He's fully willing to scar the kid for life if it means the kid will at least get to live, which he's convinced won't happen if he's left at Hood's mercy.
Tim to Mockingjay on a rooftop: Hi! How's the gang war your boss started coming along? Last one was so exciting. I watched my friend - not a vigilante friend, mind you, just this civilian kid - bleed out when one of the gangs decided to shoot up my school. About two dozen civilians died in the first couple of days. Wanna bet how many you and Hood will bag this time? Have fun!
Tim, tossing Mockingjay crime scene photos of a gang shooting, showing a headshot corpse : Hi! Thought you might like a keepsake! This is Danny, he was eighteen. Dad died, three kids at home, couldn't get any job that paid enough except with these guys. I hear his sister signed up with Penguin's pimps after she got the news. Someone's still gotta feed the kids, right? Have a good lunch!
Tim, waving to Mockingjay: Hi! Sorry I'm late! Had to stay with a kid who found his mom OD'd. You should really ask your boss to show you what an OD death looks like - you'll probably find it pretty cool, all a nice blue shade, with this bloody foam spilling from the mouth, maybe twisted up a bit if they had convulsions first. The kid was crying about how he's gonna get the bastards who sold the stuff, but of course, you and Hood have pretty nice security, right?
Tim waging absolutely ruthless psychological warfare.
Ooo yes Tim would definitely try to pull something like that. What he wouldn’t expect is Mockingjay to give as good as he gets.
After the first few times you can bet Bruce is Fed Up™️ and devises his own little counter attack.
The next time he greets Robin with a merry little “Hey Rob, guess what? Frank just got out of jail again! You know, the guy you locked up in Black Gate for killing his girlfriend? Guess what! He went back to murder her sister, too! Had her spread out all over the apartment with a kitchen knife. Have a nice patrol <3”
Mockingjay, crashing a bust: “Sorry we’re late to the party! Had to take out a pedophile you guys locked up last month but was set free on parole. Guess what? He had two new victims locked up in his basement!”
Mockingjay, cupping his ear: “Sorry, what was that? I can’t hear you over the sound of a two year old screaming because he just saw his dad get murdered in front of him. Because you guys ‘Didn’t have enough evidence’ to get the guy who threatened him convicted. Should we tell Social Services to bill you the lifelong therapy bill or…?”
Mockingjay, throwing a file at Robin’s head: “Hey, Dickhead, remember Tiff? The street kid? Thanks to you sticking her in a “safe foster home” she was forced to go work street corners. Maybe you should tell your boss to do better research.”
Mockingjay is a menace, and if Tim thinks he can guilt trip/horrify the kid into condemning Jason’s work than he’s going to have a rude awakening hehe
#mockingjay is stubborn like all Bruce Waynes are#he’s not going to let ROBIN of all people pit him against Jason no way#jason todd#bruce wayne#tim drake#antithesis of magic

CW: light discussion of past traumas/implied PTSD

★★★★★★★★
The day you met Ezra Bridger you laughed when he told you his name.
“Forgive me,” you told him, “but you’re not the first man on Lothal to try and pick me up while claiming to be the guy in the mural on the wall outside.”
“Well that’s new,” he said. “I tell you my full government name and you think it’s a ruse. Maybe I should have used one of my old aliases.”
You’d been finishing up some work in what had come to be your favorite caf bar in town, a few blocks from your home on Lothal. And you were thinking about leaving when a man approached with a look in his eyes that, on another day, might have prompted you to pick up your comms and fake an emergency call from a friend.
But now he was reaching for his wallet, pulling out an ID. “You can check my chain code if you want. I didn’t realize I had so many doppelgängers.”
You quirked an eyebrow. None of the other “Ezras” you’d met had offered ID but, as soon as you saw it, you felt heat rush to your cheeks. “Okay,” you said. “This is embarrassing. ”
He smiled warmly as he put his wallet away. “To be fair, most of the stuff in town depicts me as a kid, and I didn’t have this handsome beard back then. But I can appreciate a skeptic.”
You put away your datapad, your instincts still split between staying where you were and running out the side door. Surprising yourself, you say, “But I’m not hearing you say that you're not trying to pick me up.”
“Well…maybe. That depends, I guess, on whether you mind if I join you.”
You nodded, and he sat opposite you, the corners of his blue eyes crinkling when he smiled. Up close, you could almost see the teenage boy from the mural. But his hair was longer, dark curls falling soft around his face, and he had a short beard that he did wear quite well.
You wondered if his nerves had caught up with him as he ran a hand through his hair, the late afternoon light coming in through the window catching a streak of silver at his temple.
“Sometimes it feels like I know everyone in this city. Or at least that everyone in this city feels like they know me.” he said. “But you’re new, aren’t you?”
“What gave me away?” you asked.
“Well, I could never forget such a lovely face.”
“Are you serious right now?”
“I really am.”
There was something sincere about him, despite the flirtations. Something about the way he moved was honest. Welcoming. A server brought him a cup of caf and Ezra exchanged a few words with him in Rodian.
“So how long have you been in town?” He asked.
“About eight months,” you said. “I just hit this point where I felt like a fresh start might be nice. I don’t usually abandon ship when things get rough, but I thought maybe this one time…I can’t believe I’m telling you this.”
He winked. “I used a Jedi mind trick.”
“Right,” you said, fairly certain he was kidding.
He shrugged. “And somehow you landed on Lothal.”
“I narrowed it down to the places where I’d be able to have my astromech serviced.”
“Must be a special astromech.”
“She’s a therapy droid.”
“Ah,” he said. “There are several mechanics in Capital City who work with that program.”
You were a bit taken aback at how unfazed he was at the mention of your therapy droid—issued by the New Republic. Similar programs had been available to injured veterans before, but the civilian program was newer. And he not only knew about the program, but didn’t seem bothered by the fact that you had a condition that required this kind of aid.
“We had a lot of options,” you said. “But Ceetoo and I decided Lothal seemed nice. So…I’m here.”
“Glad you are,” he said, both hands cupping his caf mug.
“You just met me and the first thing I did was call you a liar.”
“That’s what I like about you.”
A day would come when you’d realize what he meant then. That when you saw him you weren’t thinking about all the war stories, about the way Lothal had memorialized him when they’d thought he was dead. That he had a chance, at least for a moment, to show someone who he was without the burden of their assumptions and expectations.
You would also come to realize that from the first time Ezra smiled at you, there was no coming back. He had you, melting like chocolate in the palm of his hand. Because he saw you too, like no one else ever had before.
***
It’s late afternoon when C2-B35 comes in from the garage bleeping about the line at the pharmacy. She’d gone with Ezra to pick up your medication after getting your doctor to call in something new for your joint pain. Ezra could have gone by himself but, because of an incident early in your dating history when there’d been a mix-up, Ceetoo almost always insists on going with him—and he learned a long time ago not to fight a stubborn astromech.
Ezra finds you on the sofa where you’ve been trying to relax, the pain in your back making it hard to even lie still. He knows better by now than to tell you that you’ve been working too hard, that you should take more breaks. He knows to help you up, taking you gently into his arms and kissing your hair. By the time he hands you the tablets, you’re already feeling a bit of relief.
You take the medicine and let out a heavy sigh, resting your head on Ezra’s chest before whispering a thank you.
“I wish I could heal,” he says.
“We still don’t know if that kind of healing would help me,” you say. “Genetic condition.”
It’s a dance you dance every time you have a flare like this, bad enough that Ceetoo insists on contacting your doctor.
“I met a kid once who could do it. His dad said he could nullify the effects of a neurotoxin. Close a wound like it had never been there at all.”
“What did the kid say about it?”
“The kid doesn’t talk much. Still working through some things, I think.”
He gets quiet, and from the look in his eyes you know that he’s gone somewhere in his mind lost you can’t follow. It’s been 25 years since he last saw his adoptive father, the man who’d trained him in the Force, and there are some wounds that time never quite heals. Ezra is still working through some things, too.
“Hey,” you say. “Come back to me.”
He smiles, his eyes bright as he gently squeezes your arm. “I’m right here, sunshine.”
The medication starts to hit, and you let out a breath you hadn’t realized you’d been holding. You reach for his face, the sharp line of his bearded jaw, the parallel scars on his left cheek. “Just as you are, you’re enough, Ezra. I don’t need a Jedi. I just need you.”
C2-B35 beeps irritably before retiring to her room, reminding you that you haven’t eaten since breakfast.
“Thank you, Ceetoo,” you call, with a promise that you’ll have a proper dinner.
“Is it helping?” Ezra asks. “The medicine?”
“It is,” you say. “Finally.”
“Have you really not eaten all day?”
Your face tells him everything.
“Right,” he says. “Dinner. I could make some quick dumplings? I think I froze some last time to fry later…I’d just have to make the sauce, really.”
He’s up and in the kitchen, pulling jars of spices out of the pantry, and you know he can already taste this comfort dish, and so can you.
So much of his life had been unstable after Ezra’s parents disappeared. He was on his own at such a young age, and then after a few short years in the Rebellion he ended up in exile on Peridea. Now, everything he had felt like a luxury to him: a permanent home, a pair of naughty indoor loth-cats, soft clothes he wore without consideration for armor. He’d told you about learning to cook when he came back to Lothal and, now that he has access to just about any ingredient for any dinner in the galaxy, he has every intention of not only enjoying the luxury of any hot meal he can dream up, but to make sure you enjoy food as well. When Ezra offers to cook, you never say no.
“Ezra?”
“What do you need, love?”
“I need you to kiss me.”
And he does, pulling you up from the sofa, taking your face in his hands as he presses his lips to yours, his neatly trimmed beard soft against your skin. You’re lacing your fingers through his dark curls when he pulls away to look right into your eyes.
“I’m so glad you’re here,” you whisper.
And he replies, “I can’t imagine being anywhere else.”
***
It was night before you left the caf bar and, at this realization, Ezra insisted on walking you home. “Unless you don’t feel comfortable with that,” he’d said. “I would understand. It’s just dark out and…”
And something about being with Ezra just made you feel safe. Even on that first night. You’d never let a strange man walk you home before—it was on its face a bad idea. But you’d stayed out much later than you normally would, and the idea of being alone felt far more unsafe than being with this charming man.
“I don’t normally do things like this,” you told him, the words coming out way too fast, just a block from your building.
“I figured,” he said. “For what it’s worth…I haven’t done anything like this in quite a while.
This did surprise you. “Walked someone home?”
There was a playful tone to his voice when he replied, “Approached a beautiful stranger in a caf bar.”
“You sure are bold for someone who doesn’t regularly…do whatever this is.”
“I just…” he started and paused, taking a breath. “This is going to sound like a line, but I just felt so drawn to you.”
“In the Force?”
“Maybe.”
“It does sound like a line,” you said. “But somehow I believe you. Jedi mind trick?”
“I’d never actually—”
“I know.”
You were both standing outside your door, a cool evening breeze in the air. You took all of him in—his firm chest beneath the deep v of his tunic, his dark hair catching on the wind, those blue eyes that seemed to see right past all of your walls. You’d met this man just a few hours ago but, beyond all reason, you so wanted to—
“Can I kiss you?” He asked, the words falling from his lips as if he hadn’t considered the consequences.
You nodded and he took a step closer, cupping your face in his hands, his nose brushing yours as he leaned in to press the most delicate kiss to your lips. And you felt his smile just as you felt that joy in yourself—a spark of something unlike anything you’d felt before. Maybe it was the Force, but every inch of your being wanted to be close to this man as you reached for his face, drawing him nearer, slipping a hand into his hair as the kiss deepened.
“I should go,” Ezra said, breathless into your ear.
“Why?” you asked.
“I have an appointment.”
“Really?”
“No.”
“Then stay.”
Nervously you fumbled with your keys, dropping them not once but twice as you tried to open your door, Ezra eventually placing them steadily into your hand, and just the touch of his fingertips against your palm sent a pleasant shiver through you. Quickly you shooed an alarmed Ceetoo away as you entered. Unlike you, her memories included files from the war, and she recognized Ezra as soon as she saw him. Beeped out something along the lines of this one’s mostly trustworthy and I’m going to charge.
“Mostly?” Ezra said, almost in a whisper. “I wonder what she’s heard.”
You bite back a laugh. “I just need you to know I don’t normally do this either.”
“Okay.”
“I could make some tea.”
“Sure.”
But his arms were around you again and you both stumbled toward the sofa, falling into the cushions wrapped in each other like teenagers, wholly unworried about anything else in the galaxy.
That tea didn’t get made for hours. And it was nearly dawn when you retired to your bedroom and Ezra fell asleep on your sofa, your loth-cat sitting at his feet. When you woke, he was gone, a note left on your kitchen counter: Had to work this morning, but I hope you’ll call me. You traced your finger over the comms code left in scratchy handwriting below, wondering for a split second if this could be real. But if you closed your eyes you could still feel the sensation of his fingertips ghosting over your cheek when you’d handed him a blanket the night before. His voice when he’d whispered in your ear, “Sleep well, sunshine.”

6. hi! i would like to know if you know any fics where
A) someone goes off about how demonic cultivation is dangerous/immoral etc and gets their argument refuted

7. I’m in the mood to read a great many things, but I’d really appreciate it if you could do a rec list of fics where wwx gets to flex being a talisman master/a badass with talismans(knowingly or not) or an updated list for Immortal Lan Wanji x either reincarnated wwx or also immortal wwx. I feel like generally the first just isn’t tagged and that I’ve already read all the good ones under the other.
Btw, I’m not asking for both unless you want to compile both. Just whichever list sounds more fun to make/ find fics for.
Help expanding my library would be very much appreciated.🙏 @omgnectarina

8. If you do find this fic, would you also recommend something in this similar theme? LWJ doing things for family and not being happy and LQR finds out and regrets his actions? @lailan-rosie (last part from a FF)
Tempo Rubato by Spodumene (E, 107k, WangXian, Modern AU, Angst with a Happy Ending, Romance, Persuasion au, Separations, Mutual Pining, Depression, Miscommunication, Emotional Roller Coaster, Implied/Referenced Self-Harm, Reconciliation, Eventual Smut, Jane Austen Fusion, Underage Kissing)

9. Hiiiiiiiiii, How are you guys?
Im in the mood for a modern au fic where lwj and wwx are in a committed relationship but break up due to wwx over-committment to the wens or jiangs. It can be because they dont get to spend enough time together or its taking a toll on wwx and they fight about it. Whatever it is - i want wwx to be the one who realises things and has to make amends. Happy endings ofcourse.
I have seen many fics along this plot line BUT lwj is always the one apologizing and putting in the extra effort to be accommodating. It might just be me but i dont think thats fair. So pleeeeeeease recommend some fics where wwx puts in the work to fix things
KILF (Knits I'd Like To Fuck in) by ScarlettStorm (E, 168k, wangxian, modern, sex work, fiber arts, 2nd in series) is a long fic but it has a fight at the end of chapter 17 which is related to WWX being overcommitted (partly to JWY, I guess), and he has to be the one to try and make that right. They don’t break up, but it is a significant fight.
~*~
10. Hey! I’ve never really done one of these but figured I might as well give it a shot. I recall in one of your posts you recommended Stunted, Starving Juvenility. Long story short, I took it and ran away with it. Now I’m pleading for any similar Fics like Stunted Starving Juvenility (Preferably no slow burns unless it’s really good) @neverforgetyou-1
Silenced With A Kiss by NinjaKK (E, 120k, WIP, WangXian, Cloud Recesses Study Arc, Flirting, Teen Romance, Cloud Recesses Shenanigans, WangXian Get a Happy Ending, Soft WangXian, WWX in WWX’s Body, Secret Relationship, Falling In Love, First Kiss, First Dates, Inventor WWX, Genius WWX, Canon Divergence, Protective LWJ, Protective WWX, Ripple Effect, First Time, Fluff and Smut, Optional Smut, Supportive LWJ, BAMF WWX, Inappropriate Use of Gūsū Lán Forehead Ribbon, Has an Angry LWJ Kink)

~*~
13. Hi! Any fanfic about junior shenanigans saw how scary wwx is? (Especially when they saw the Yiling Laozu Era)
Thank you so much! @just-for-browsing-stuffs
~*~
14. Itmf fics where person X is " as long as I'm here, no one can hurt you... " To person Y
A) X= lwj and Y= wwx
B) X= wwx and Y= jc and/or jyl
C) X is anyone, Y is wwx
Haha sorry for this format of asking, but I can't help it, I've been doing maths for hours now...
~*~
15. Hello! For the next itmf I was looking for a fic where NHS asks WWX for help with NMJ’s saber cultivation problem and WWX manages to save him and prevent him from dying. Ideally with 3zun too but it’s fine if not. Thanks!
The Core Issue by Hauntcats (T, 21k, WangXian, Angst with a Happy Ending, Not JC Friendly, Canon Divergence) It's WWX going to NHS asking for help, but otherwise fits the request
~*~
16. First part added to a Finder post ~Mod L // Also I would like more fics where wwx has a tiger/lion, i don't mind it being modern

Lacuna (1) - Gentle Guardians
Navigation
Series Masterlist
Summary: This is a K9 Hybrid AU, featuring Price and his K9H Angel! A couple short little flash-forward drabbles to start off with, just to get a feel for our darlings.
Warnings: Mentions of PTSD and therapy, you are responsible for your own media consumption
Notes: First chapter of this series is a go!
The hum of the base was a constant backdrop as she curled up beside John Price, her fur soft and comforting against the hard metal of the chair. Price absently scratched behind her ears, his fingers brushing through her thick coat, a quiet balm for both their frayed nerves.
“Ready for this, Angel?” he asked, glancing down at her with a mix of affection and concern. The therapy session was about to begin, and the weight of their shared experiences hung heavy in the air.
Angel met his gaze, her eyes warm and understanding. She nudged his hand with her nose, a silent reassurance. They had been through countless missions together, faced the chaos of war, and yet, here they were, finding solace in each other.
“Right then,” he chuckled, a hint of pride in his voice. “Let’s show them what we can do.” He stood, and Angel followed, her tail wagging softly. As they stepped into the room filled with weary soldiers, John felt a surge of hope. Together, they were more than just a handler and a Hybrid—they were a team ready to heal.
John Price pushed open the door to the therapy room, the scent of fresh coffee and warm wood filling the air. The atmosphere was thick with unspoken tension, soldiers scattered around, some sitting in quiet contemplation, others sharing muted conversations.
Angel trotted beside him, her ears perked up, instinctively sensing the weight of the room. Price knelt, giving her a reassuring scratch behind the ears. “You ready, girl?” he murmured, his voice low and steady.
She looked up at him, her golden eyes filled with determination, as if saying, Always.
Together, they stepped into the center, and Price cleared his throat, drawing the attention of the room. “Alright, everyone,” he began, his tone commanding yet warm. “This is Angel, my partner. We’re here to help you through this. Let her remind you that healing comes in many forms.”
As he spoke, Angel moved gracefully through the space, her presence bringing a flicker of warmth to the soldiers’ faces. She approached a man with weary eyes, gently resting her head on his knee. He hesitated, then reached out, a small smile breaking through his facade.
Price watched, heart swelling with pride. “That’s it,” he encouraged. “Take your time. She’s here for you.”
As Angel continued to offer her comfort, Price felt a renewed sense of purpose. Together, they were not just a team—they were a lifeline in a world too often engulfed in darkness.
The sun peeked through the curtains of Price’s modest home, casting soft rays across the living room. John Price stirred awake, the familiar warmth of Angel pressed against his side. Her soft fur brushed against his skin, a constant reminder of the bond they had forged over years of service.
With a contented sigh, he reached down to scratch her behind the ears. Angel stirred, her tail wagging slowly as she blinked awake. “Morning, lass,” he said, his voice rough from sleep. She looked up at him, eyes bright and alert, ready for whatever the day had in store.
After a quick breakfast, Price donned his well-worn tactical gear, the fabric a comforting weight he’d grown accustomed to over the years. Angel watched attentively, her ears twitching as he moved around the kitchen. He poured a cup of coffee and glanced at her. “You ready for a little training session?”
Angel jumped up, tail wagging excitedly. She loved their morning routines, where they practiced commands and refined her skills as both a therapy and service Hybrid. Price led her to the backyard, a small but secure space with plenty of room to roam.
“Alright, let’s start with ‘stay,’” he instructed, positioning her at a distance before stepping back. “Stay.”
Angel sat patiently, her focus unwavering. Price took a moment to appreciate how far they’d come. Together, they had tackled countless missions, her keen senses and unwavering loyalty helping to keep him grounded during the chaos. Now, in retirement, they were learning to navigate a different kind of life.
“Good girl,” he praised when he called her to him. “Now, how about we work on some scents?”
They spent the morning honing Angel’s abilities, hiding various objects around the yard and challenging her to find them. Price laughed as she darted around, her excitement infectious. She had a way of bringing light to the simplest of moments.
By midday, they were both ready for a break. Price set up a small picnic under the shade of a tree, pulling out a sandwich and a few dog treats. He watched as Angel lay at his feet, her eyes following his every move. “You’ve earned this, haven’t you?” he said, tossing her a treat. She caught it mid-air, tail wagging with delight.
After their meal, they settled on the porch, the warm breeze rustling the leaves. Price pulled out a book, glancing down at Angel, who had nestled against his leg. He lost himself in the pages, occasionally looking down to see her peacefully dozing.
As the sun began to set, casting a golden hue over the landscape, Price felt a sense of contentment wash over him. They might not be in the field anymore, but this was their new mission—healing, one day at a time.
With the evening’s calm settling in, Price leaned down, scratching Angel’s ears once more. “What do you say, lass? A little walk before bed?”
Angel perked up, instantly alert. She loved their evening strolls, the way the world transformed under the twilight sky. Price smiled, grabbing her leash and heading out, grateful for the bond they shared—a partnership that had weathered storms and found peace in the quiet moments.
As they walked side by side, Angel nudged his hand, and he glanced down, his heart swelling. Together, they were not just a handler and a Hybrid; they were family, healing together in a world that had once seemed dark.

I’m moving into college in 3 weeks have you got any tips :0
yes!! quite a few actually. :) *for mutuals outside of the u.s., this advice is based on a U.S. American university experience, so some of it may not apply to you.
PLEASE SEND ASKS if you have specific questions, and I’ll either speak from my own experience or give information from other friends in university rn!!
packing:
You don’t need to bring ALL your stuff. (Really, it’s okay. Also, you have limited space.)
A quick Google search of “college packing list 2023” will yield many results. It’s up to you to decide what “essentials” are actually essential, but suffice it to say, think about the things you use on a daily basis and then think about what you don’t have at home that you’ll need in student housing.
Apartment or dorm, unless you’re really lucky—you’ll be sharing living space & appliances with other people. Yes, that includes showers. If you can get toiletries cheaper locally than in the location of your university, save yourself the time and money. Shower shoes are an absolute must, because those showers can get disgusting.
If you have a meal plan that lasts the entire year, you don’t really need to pack a bunch of food (or go grocery shopping a ton during the school year) but it can be nice to have dry goods & snacks on hand. (I keep rice, macaroni & cheese, crackers, & some type of dried fruit around, if nothing else. Whatever tastes strike your fancy, feel free to add/substitute.) If you’re cooking all your own food, you’re going to need at least a cooking pot, frying pan, spatula, dish sponges, and dish soap, as well as some resealable food storage containers and cheap cups and bowls (I got most of that at Target. They tend to have back-to-school sales and bowls & cups go for less than a dollar each.)
Laundry is going to be a pain in the ass, unless again, you luck out and have a washer and dryer in-unit. Ditto for dishes (unless your space comes with a dishwasher). Do yourself a favor & get a huge bin of Tide pods, pack of laundry sheets, & at least two paper towel rolls so you don’t have to run out every week to replenish cleaning supplies. (I personally despise having dish towels to wash, so if you don’t mind them take the paper towel advice with a grain of salt.)
My dorm was weird and had a sink in it. If you’re responsible for cleaning your own sink it will get nasty quickly. Either take turns with your roommate(s)/housemate(s), or figure out who the designated sink cleaner is.
friends/socializing:
Your first friend group in college will likely not be your last, nor will it last. This group is usually composed of people close in proximity to you aka convenience friends. You might realize three or four months in that these are not your people and you don’t like hanging out with them. This is perfectly normal and okay! You’ll find people who you do vibe with. I encourage you not to limit making friends to your specific university, although if you go to a small one like I do that can be tough.
Universities often have events with free stuff, including free food. Take advantage of these events if & when you can. They’re usually very laid back, and if you’re not in the mood to stick around, you can grab food and then dip.
Orientation events & icebreakers within your first week are to be expected. Try to remember a fun fact about yourself (which is what you usually get asked, along with your intended major, name, pronouns—sometimes, & hometown).
Your RA(s) aren’t cops, but they also aren’t your friends. They’re required to report sketchy shit that happens. My RAs had a rule that if they didn’t hear, see, or smell anything suspicious, it was like nothing happened, but try to get a feel for what yours look out for.
It is more than okay to need/want therapy. You’ve just gone through a massive change in your life and you did it mostly, if not all, by yourself. Your university counseling services (if applicable) are generally not the best place to go for therapy, though. This is especially true if you’re worried about your privacy. I don’t think I’ve heard of student discounts for therapy, but some therapists have this policy called sliding scale where you pay what you can. Find a person you can talk openly with and who is experienced with your mental health concerns/practices the right kind of therapy for you. (CBT, DBT, & EMDR are a few examples.)
dating, love, etc.
First and foremost, if this section doesn’t apply to you because you don’t participate or aren’t ready to in college, please feel free to skip!
If you’re still here, obviously I am not the expert on your love life—you are. That being said, without getting too personal, here are some things I’ve picked up through trial and error.
If you’re starting college, and haven’t yet dated anyone, it’s okay to feel behind. What isn’t okay is being patronized or taken advantage of for your lack of experience. I wish I could say it’s just common sense, but it’s crucial to figure out what your boundaries, limits, & standards are before getting into an intimate situation with somebody. (I myself learned this the hard way.)
simply put: It is okay to be picky! (Read that again.) Or not—what works for one person won’t work for everyone. Some people date & hook up just for fun, especially during college when a lot of changes are happening, and that suits them fine. Some people want stronger, longer connections, and that works for them. Some people focus on friends over partners and refrain from the entire dating & hookup scene. All are valid and healthy. (As long as you stay safe, sane, & consensual, and get tested.)
school stuff:
Please do yourself a favor and don’t schedule 8am classes five days a week. I don’t care if you could do it in high school—chances are you’re going to need to wake up way beforehand to get ready OR your roommate will do something ridiculous in the middle of the night that will wake you up. In this more than likely event, you won’t want to wake up and go straight to class. If you’re not a STEM major, this advice is easier than if you are (and if the first applies, my condolences and much love).
You need sleep no matter what—if that means midday naps, go for it. I don’t recommend skipping class to nap unless it’s an emergency though.
Re skipping class: some professors take attendance and your grade can suffer if you don’t attend. Aside from mental health days, skipping class for fun can be a slippery slope at some universities. (At some, Cs get degrees and grades don’t matter as much, especially if you aren’t looking to go down the postgrad path.)

19th & 20th September 2024
19th:
Today I had to take Giggles to the vet for more vaccinations and more flea and worm treatment as I didn't have any more. I'm ensuring her health checks are all up to date because I think I've fallen off the ball with that.
She was a bit nervous at the vet but wasn't meowing or scared. She wanted to hide and her crate was on the floor so I made a cup with my hands and she hid her face in it which was enough for her to feel safe. It was absolutely adorable. I gave her many head rubs and scratches behind her ears which she loved and she purred which was reassuring.
The car ride always makes her a bit nervous but she's soooo much better than she was before. I play some LoFi instrumentals when she's super anxious but on the way back she barely cried at all and took a nap. It makes me happy that she's starting to feel safe in the car because then I can take her on more adventures and she won't be so nervous :)
One thing I do need to get on top of is her dental hygiene. It's tough because she hates it but it needs tending to so I need to invest in some things! I don't want her to end up having any problems in the future.
When I got back home I rested some more and got to preparing for my job interview. I wasn't anxious but I was nervous. I got some examples I wanted to use also and by the time my interview took place I was feeling more confident. I answered all the questions quite quickly but also in enough detail and I taught one of the interviewers something about mental health which felt super nice. She said what I explained was quite nice to learn so I hope I made a good impression and I did feel like it was a good interview too. I was kinda buzzing after.
I was reminded that for someone who's in crisis, I'm doing quite a pretty good job right now! It felt nice to have Elodie around for the interview and it felt nice to remember things from work which I hadn't thought about in years. I really hope I get this job because it would be perfect for me to work from home and earn enough to support myself, travel and pay off my debts. Then I can eventually start paying for private therapy too and get a knowledgeable therapist. I need that and I really do think I deserve this too! Another thing is that I can hire a cleaning service to help me deep clean my home because I can't do it with my pain and mobility problems so that'll also make me feel so much better and I know I can pay my friend to help me too.
I decided to watch Forrest Gump which sent my brain into a bit of an overdrive I think. I ended up being so tired that I couldn't keep my eyes open. Just so exhausted! It definitely was triggering watching it again as an adult but very very relatable too in so many ways. Forrest definitely is autistic and Bubba too.
I ended up sleeping at completely the wrong time so I'm up at a weird time. I have my doctor's appointment tomorrow and I see my doctor and I just really need her to help me. I need my meds increased and I need a care coordinator or social worker. I need better support or I'm going to end up back in the hospital and I just really don't want to end up back there but I get no support and I really need it.
20th:
I thought I was having an episode... I thought the ceiling was going to collapse because of a noise I was hearing which I couldn't identify. Messed-up sleeping patterns mess up my mental health dramatically. The noise was coming from my upstairs neighbours but the anxiety that it was the ceiling about to cave in was farfetched...
I need to sleep
My sleep was really bad and idk why it has to be like this. I had a nightmare that I just couldn't get away from someone and they even found me on this blog and they showed me not nice pictures that they took of me that I couldn't remember (I basically had amnesia for the events and another part was present...but more in a way that they wanted to hide it from me too and was happy - since when did I have DID in my dreams??) That was overwhelming and it felt so real that I woke up feeling like it was real. That's always my biggest fear.
I'm so tired and stiff that I've ended up late for my freaking doctors appointment and I want to cry because I had one job but I'm so exhausted. I feel sedated. If this doesn't work out I want to give up now... I'm ngl.
It was so lovely to see my Doctor she's so lovely! As soon as I sat down she was like "Is it getting bad again [name]?" and from that moment I was holding back tears and that surprised me. She asked me if I was getting support from family and I explained that we had a bereavement in January and she remembered it was Dead Brother then she asked me if I was getting support which I wasn't. She asked me what's been happening and I explained that every September I get so much worse and I feel so bad. She asked if it's an anniversary for anything and asked me to specify and I actually managed to say it's a trauma anniversary from being raped which was so confronting but such improvement on my part. She then asked me who and I explained Dead Brother.
I think this is significant because I tend to think I talk about what's going on with me a lot and I reallllyy don't. This blog is the only place I actually talk about my feelings and not even my doctor knows much about me. That's bad. This was something my old ED T also said to me and I thought I opened up to her a lot. I really don't talk to people and I'm always holding everything in. Even my friends say this too so it must be true.
Anyway, my doctor has increased my Mirtazapine to the highest at 45mg and wants to see me in 2 weeks. She's also referred me to the crisis team (🙄) and a mental health practitioner to talk to as well. I see them on Monday. She said she's going to refer me to see a social subscriber which will help me get out of the house and maybe do things and for the first time I'm going to give it a go. She even said if I really don't like it I don't have to go so that's reassuring.
Right now it's been 30 minutes that I've been in this car park at the gp so I'm going to find somewhere to go...
Sometimes I wonder why it feels like the world just wants me to die, I try so hard all the time to get help and keep myself safe and it's just like no one cares enough to help. As much as I'm grateful for this help from my doctor and I truly am... if me reaching out for desperate help for another year doesn't work I'm so done trying. I'm so tired.
Oh my God I am so tired of being so alone.
All I want to do is listen to music but I know the music that I want to listen to will make me feel worse.
I'm not sure if it was my first time admitting what Dead Brother did, but it was definitely the first time telling a professional or anyone in person and my brain is going crazy.
Yep. First time saying the words out loud. Wow. That wasn't a good idea in the middle of September... body memories and flashbacks have started but I've taken 2mg Lorazepam to help calm everything down normally 1mg is does a good job but rn I'm struggling. I'm also being distracted by my loved ones which feels nice and I'll most likely cry some more.
Why is this September different? I'm remembering more memories even before the doctors appointment. It's so bad... so so bad...

Helpless
Description: She worked as a lawyer in New York until she received a phone call from the man she owes her career to. She knew she would be back and what she was in for but what she didn’t know is that her life would change even more than she imagined.
Chapter 10
Chapter 9:
The trial took longer than expected. That asshole thought he could get away with threats and lost. Got on the list of sex offenders and after serving 3 years in jail he will have probation. Community service for a year. I avoided my parents and everybody else I didn’t have to see for the 2 weeks I was there. Beth went home for the holidays after the 3rd night. I was currently at the entrance of the ranch. “You can drop me off here” The driver nods as I get out of the car and take out my luggage.
“Have a good day miss'' I wave back waiting for him to drive off. I start my walk down the long road. There is no noise even this far away from the house, and that's not a good thing. The cold is freezing my fingertips as they are the only part except my face that is not covered by multiple layers. New years have gone by and it's the 5th day of the month and a new beginning for me. I haven’t left it all behind yet but it's a good start. The people in town know what happened now. The idiot got what he deserved but most importanly my parents got to know how wrong they were and even if I didn’t get to see their reaction it felt good.
“Want a ride home!?” I look at the distance and see Rip riding up.
“I am never getting on a horse again” Thankfully I had sneakers on because there was no way I was walking down the long dirt/gravel road with heels. I continued walking as Rip got off his horse and took him by the reign to walk beside me.
“Why the long face?” I looked over confused but quickly shook it off.
“I had a long couple of days” Something about walking in the cold air clears your mind.
“Tell me about it” He huffs. “You are going to have a list of chores to do when you get back home” Oh fuck. “Jaime, John, Beth, all the Duttons, even Kayce” He turns to look at me for a split second. “They all need family therapy” I chuckle a bit.
“You ain’t telling me something I ain’t already know.” Rip sighs as we get infront of the house. “Can I ask you something?” I turn to him, letting go of my suitcase. He nods so I continue with my question. “Are you and Beth okay?” Before the trip I knew they were spending more time together but knowing Beth this has been an ongoing thing. She tries to make it work but along the way she makes herself take a step back and shield herself again.
“We are working on it. I waited this long and I will keep on waiting as long as she needs” I knew Rip was a good guy even with the character everybody thinks of him as.
“Well. Let me go inside before I freeze to death out here” I tell him goodbye before heading inside.
“Well look who's back” It wasn’t so early in the morning when I arrived so I was suprised to see John. “Had some family fun time during the holidays” I held my dead stare on him.
“Being funny isn’t good for you” He chuckles a bit, offering me a cup of coffee. “Sorry I didn’t answer these past few day”
“Don’t worry about it but now that you are back I have a list for you” oh I heard. I nod my head taking a sip of the coffee. “I need you to go see the livestock commissioner” Before the word why could slip out he got a phone call. “Beth left the paperwork on your bed” He leaves out the door. It feels good to be back. Somehow this kind of work, although it can be stressful, is what I strive for most. I took a long needed shower and got dressed to head out. I grab the paperwork and head down to see the livestock agents. I always laugh when I hear about them. Like I know their jobs are serious and all but come on, livestock AGENT?. It's like Bond being recruited to take care of sheeps.
“What did I do to behold such a sight?” I shake my head walking through the doors as Ryan holds the door open.
“Nice to see you too Ryan” I say hello to the rest of the guys in the room before turning to the secretary.
“Mr Dutton called and said you were coming.” She gets up and leads me down the hall. “He just came from the meeting so I didn’t get a chance to notify him” I gave her a sympathetic look.
“Don’t worry, Jaime is used to not planning things” quick hot head he is. I smile before opening the door. I stop dead in my tracks. I should have knocked. Knocking so I would have heard who was inside and it would have given me a chance to figure things out before coming in or just bolt out of this place.
“Mr Duton, Miss l/N” I think her name was Jenny. Thank you Jenny.
“Thank you” Kayce stands up as my legs feel like jello walking over to the chair infront of his desk. The room wasn’t warm. It stayed on the cool side but my body felt like it was burning. “Hey”
“Hey” I sighed. The air felt thick and my lungs couldn’t grasp enough of it. “I need you to sign a couple of things” I pull out the file and slide it towards him.
“Do you want something to drink?” Something to eat sounds better. Coming here with on coffee in the stomach wasn’t the best choice.
“No.” That sounded a little too harsh damn it. “Thank you” I stand up walking closer to the desk to open the file. “Everything you need to sign is marked but on one page you need to place your imprint” I flip it to make sure he knows which page it is. I remove myself from leaning in as nerves run down my body seeing him from my side view that he got up.
“Y/n?” It was a whisper but enough for me to hear. I look up and see him walk around to the desk towards me. Am not nervous because anything that happened between us came to mind but because he somehow makes me feel little. Not in a bad way eitheir, like I don’t need to be something am not with him beside me. I take a step back.
“Kayce we need to talk but I don’t think this is the time or place” I put my hand up defincisbly. I don’t know what was going on. My body wanted to tremble and for some reason my eyes were feeling up with tears. My cheeks were burning and all I wanted to do was crawl into a corner until I could think again.
“Y/n?”
“What?” I finally find his eyes again and he is just a couple steps away from me giving me the space I needed.
“Are you okay?” That's when I lost it. All the emotion I was holding in slipped out and rolled down my cheek. First one tear and then a couple more. I bit my lip trying to hold in the sorrows that wanted to leave. “y/n?” I shake my head back away again.
“Just give me a minute. I just need a minute” I close my eyes, wrapping myself in my arms trying to hold it together. This happened once when I was 15. I was at a party and all the emotion evaded me. For the remaining of it I locked myself in the bathroom and cried to the tunes of the songs. No one came to check on me and when I finally got out nobody knew why I was crying and I felt like a baggage to them. I locked myself in my room and screamed my lungs out until I didn’t have any energy left in me. I promised myself if it ever happened again I wouldn’t let it overtake me again. I felt him wrap his arms around me and pull me closer.
“You need to let it go. You have been holding on to so much and I promise you it gets better when you let go” He whispers. And I don’t know what happened. Everything that was slipping out my mouth
“It's not fair” I let out a cry. Gripping on to his jacket. “It's not fair how they can just continue their lives without me! I saw them before I left, I was going to go up to them and let them see me but I didn’t want to give them even that. I always had a little feeling inside that they would come find me one day and apologise and maybe something would go back to normal. Why do they get to pretend to be a happy family when it's not complete? Was I the problem the whole time? When I was with them they couldn’t stand eachother, maybe I needed to leave so they could be happy. But why do they get to be happy and I got the worse part out of it? Why don’t I have a happy family? Maybe it didn’t affect me before because I had someone on the line if they found out the truth and having the feeling of them owing me an apology in the future made it better. Was that too selfish? Am I too selfish to want that? Should I have just told the truth? Maybe I didn’t do it because I cared for my cousin so much but because I wanted to embarrass them in the end. Because if I did everything right then why am I the one hurting at the end?” Then everything stopped. The tears, the cries, the tight hold I had on Kayce as he was still holding me. I took a deep breath and pulled away from him.
“y/n?” I look at him wiping away my tears. “I think you deserve a loving family and I know one day you will build that. I don’t know the whole thing but I know that she was grateful she didn’t have to do it alone”
“Ok” I smile, rubbing my hands on my thighs trying to get the nerves out. “That was enough for today” I hear him chuckle. “What?”
“Nothing” He shakes his head. He walks closer to me enough to feel his body heat. “I know right now is not the time and place after all of that” I roll my eyes at his comment. “How about dinner?” Is he crazy?
“Kayce” I warned, shaking my head. I wanted nothing more than to leave right now.
“Listen. We need to talk about everything that happened, I don’t know about you but it wasn’t just to let steem out” He says defensibly.
“Ok” Before walking toward his desk he grabs my upper arm pulling me towards him. His other hand slides up to my cheek making me look at him. “What?” The grin I had was there although I was trying to hide it.
“Nothing,” He whispers, moving closer.
“Make sure those papers get signed so you can give them to me later” He smiles and nods. “Am serious” I was getting aggravated due to the fact he had a stupid smile on his face and his stare was making me blush. I hit his chest puting some distance but I was only pushed back in again and into a kiss. I couldn’t hold back and I wrapped my arms around his neck. His kiss was slowly and every promise of air was long gone. I didn’t mine. I just wanted him. Both hands slide down to my hip holding me steady and close.
“7?” He says as he pulls away. My eyes still closed, I nod my head. He pecks my lips. “Anything specific?” I shake my head still with a stupid smile on my face. “Have a curfew?” That made my eyes roll again.
“No sir I do not” I slide my hands down his chest pushing away from him. “Don’t be late”
“Yes ma’am” he smiles as I open the door to leave. I turn around once more.
“Don’t forget the paperwork”
“Yes ma’am” I stayed there for a minute watching him take a seat behind his desk. He may not have wanted this job as commissioner but he sure does look doing it.

Chapter One: Orientation
Pairing: Laszlo Kreizler x fem!OC (Alice Greene)
Summary: Professor Laszlo Kreizler is a workaholic. Between teaching university courses, running the Kreizler Institute, and minding Stevie -his ward-, he does not have time for relationships. That is until he meets Ms. Greene, Stevie's English teacher, at open house. Can he open his heart to the possibility of love?
Word Count: 4,285
W: Mature. Language, drinking, mentions of theft and assault.
A/N: Welcome to the new series! I'm so excited to begin, and please remember my requests are always open for past and currrent fics! Let me know if you want to be added to the taglist, or you can fill out the form on my pinned post!
Laszlo glanced at the time before he turned onto his street. Later than intended, but he did not think Stevie would mind. It was not as if Stevie was terribly excited about the open house and orientation. Nothing served as such a potent reminder for the end of summer than back-to-school events. Stevie might even prefer it if Laszlo missed the entire night.
Ordinarily, Laszlo parked in the garage to charge his car. But, since he planned to leave again soon, he parked in the short driveway. Besides, half the time Laszlo wanted to park in the garage there was no space. Stevie and his fixer-upper took up every inch of the garage.
In the past week, Stevie spent more time with the old car. Laszlo suspected it was his anxiety about school starting soon, and Stevie felt he needed to work with his hands to vent his fears and frustrations. He did not want to pressure Stevie into talking, but he could coax something out of him after open house.
Laszlo hovered in the garage doorway to watch Stevie. With his earbuds in, he didn’t notice Laszlo. Stevie leaned over the vintage engine, black grease smearing his face, hands, and shirt, and he mumbled to himself. In the two years Stevie stayed with Laszlo, he made incredible progress. Laszlo never thought the old car would run again, but Stevie was close.
He clasped Stevie on the shoulder making him startle. When he realized it was Laszlo, he took out one earbud and relaxed. Stevie smeared grease on his forehead as he ran his arm across it.
“You may want to wash up before we leave. I do not believe grease on your face makes a great impression.”
Stevie huffed a sigh and picked up his tools. He glanced at the garage floor, covered in bits and pieces, and turned back to Laszlo. “I promise to pick everything up before we leave.”
“I never doubted that.” Laszlo squeezed Stevie’s shoulder and left him to his work.
His clothes — black slacks, a white button-down shirt, a vest, and a blazer — were plenty suitable for the orientation, so he reasoned he had enough time to make a cup of tea and enjoy it. Laszlo waited for his tea to brew and paced across the kitchen. He wished to pop outside for a quick cigarette to ease his nerves, but Stevie would see him smoking. After all of Laszlo’s anti-vaping and smoking tirades, he could not be caught red-handed. The tea would have to do.
Laszlo worried about Stevie. Most children charged with theft and assault would be stuck in a juvenile detention center, but thanks to Laszlo’s efforts Stevie lived with him. He received therapy, performed community service, and was home-schooled for two years. Stevie was a bright kid, and he caught up swiftly. Now, according to his tutor and therapist, Stevie was ready for high school. He was a year older than most freshmen, but it was the smart place for him to start.
Open house would be Stevie’s introduction to his new school, classmates, and teachers. Laszlo hoped the evening would be painless and encourage Steve to give the school a chance. He would stick out like a sore thumb, but it could still be a good experience for him.
Stevie reappeared in the kitchen doorway. His clean t-shirt was tucked into his jeans, and his hair looked like it at least met a comb, if not became acquainted with it. Stevie’s face and hands were flushed pink from scrubbing the grease away.
“There, isn’t that better?” Laszlo smiled and set his thermos in the sink. “Though I think you missed a spot by your ear…” he offered his white handkerchief to Stevie.
Stevie rolled his eyes and took the cloth square. “Do you promise not to do that at open house?” He wiped the grease from his temple.
“Do what?” Laszlo scoffed. “I am merely helping you make a good first impression.” He stuck his hands in his pocket and stroked the key fob with his thumb.
Stevie tucked his thumbs into his jeans pockets. “Worry about me,” he rolled his eyes in pure teenage fashion, “and micromanage me because you’re worried about me. I’ll be okay.”
“I know you will,” he acknowledged with a tip of his head, “but I can’t possibly promise not to be concerned.”
“It’s your job to be concerned, but you don’t need to be nervous or worried. I promise.”
It is more than a job to me, he thought.
Laszlo was a stickler for time, and he checked his watch again. It was a quarter to five, later than he intended. Not wanting to be too late, they walked to the car. Errantly, Laszlo thought Stevie would need to practice his driving soon if he intended to get a learner’s permit. With that would come the license, the car, the insurance…
“Can we get pizza or something after?”
Stevie’s question broke Laszlo from his train of thought. Laszlo studied him first, then blinked calmly. “If that is what you wish.” Sometimes, he forgot Stevie could be a normal teenager craving a slice of greasy pizza.
Alice checked the time on her smartwatch. Bitsy sent a quick “Good luck!👍“ text, and there were fifteen more minutes. Then, she would turn into her teaching alter ego: Ms. Greene. Her eyes swept over her new classroom. Instead of harsh fluorescents, she used strategically placed lamps and decorative string lights. So far, her blend of educational and entertaining posters held. Even the homemade sugar cookies — which she decorated to look like red apples, wooden pencils, and notebook paper — were neatly arranged with a stack of napkins and paper plates. Alice hoped her room felt welcoming and encouraging, if not prepared.
Being idle felt odd, but there was nothing else she could do to prepare for open house. All that remained was for the parents and students to arrive. Bitsy warned her about the over-the-top parents when she told her of the open positions at the school. Alice decided she could handle fiercer parents given better pay and benefits.
Alice heard footsteps and chattering in the hallway. She squared her shoulders back, took a deep breath in, and plastered a smile to her face. It was showtime. And, if they somehow managed to eat her alive, she and Bitsy made plans to drink and debrief on everything that happened. It was their version of D&D.
After waiting in line at the counselor’s office for a paper copy of Stevie’s schedule — because Laszlo insisted on paper rather than the electronic version — he outlined the evening. They would start at the far side of the school, near the gym, and work their way to the other side, near the cafeteria and the auditorium.
Laszlo recognized a handful of parents, students, and administrators, so he gave them an acknowledging nod. He did not want to be dragged into an awkward conversation amid a busy hall, and he was sure Stevie did not want to either. Given Stevie’s zoned-out expression and tapping foot as they waited outside the gym, he wanted to leave as soon as possible. Laszlo was not comfortable in the hot, sweaty hallway either, and the overlapping echo of conversations started to give him a headache.
A set of double doors slammed open releasing a stream of students and their parents. Laszlo walked in behind Stevie and searched the gym for the source of the abrasive yelling, scuffling of rubber sneakers, and the stench of sweat. A group of boys dribbled a basketball up and down the court, and a red-faced and haired coach blew a whistle. Laszlo quirked his eyebrows knowing he was in for an unpleasant encounter.
“My name is Coach Connor,” he huffed, “and I expect every single one of you to be a top-of-the-line athlete when you’re in my gym.” He stared at his prospective students. The football team was squared away, but there were many other teams and positions available. He picked which kids he wanted to try out and which kids he wanted to stay the hell away from.
“And what if not every student can be an athlete?” Laszlo's voice carried across the gymnasium as it would in a courtroom. Stevie knew from experience. He kept his right hand tucked away in his pocket, so he gesticulated with his left. “What then?”
Coach Connor’s bushy mustache bristled. He was not accustomed to being challenged. His beady eyes scrutinized Laszlo and Stevie beside him. “And who might you be?”
“Dr. Kreizler. I hardly think impressing upon every student the need to be an athlete will foster healthy development. Should you not encourage students to do their best and grow?” He stood tall and proud with his left hand resting on Stevie’s shoulder as if he was a bird sheltering his young with his wing.
A few parents nodded in agreement. Laszlo did not waver under Coach Connor’s hard stare. He held Connor’s eye until Connor gruffly cleared his throat and continued.
Laszlo was relieved to leave the gym’s stifling heat and company. They stopped in Stevie’s science classroom next, taught by Ms. Sussman. She politely welcomed them, though she spoke with a set of parents, and directed them to the stack of papers across one of the blacktop lab stations. Laszlo skimmed through the papers: a syllabus, a parent info sheet, and a lab safety form. All typical paperwork. Laszlo would read through it that evening.
After speaking briefly with her about what the paperwork contained and what Stevie could expect in freshman biology class, they went to another hall. Stevie took the lead and weaseled his way through the crowded hallways, and Laszlo followed him. For the first time, Laszlo appreciated Stevie’s stealth and slick moves in a crowd.
Alice’s shoulders sagged, but she kept a smile on her face. Her earlier hopes of parents waiting to sink their claws into her were dashed. Unfortunately, her classroom location at the end of the hall did not discourage any parents from visiting. If anything, it seemed to make them angrier. A number lectured her on how to do her job while others outright dismissed her as a new teacher at the school.
Alice offered cookies to distract or persuade them, but they glanced between her and the cookies, scoffing for sneering, and declined. She wasn’t sure what stung more: their disdain for her or their rejection of even her baking.
Thankfully, only one hour remained. Alice would buy the wine while Bitsy picked up the pizza. They would meet at Alice’s apartment to swap notes, details, and stories from the night. It would be just like college when they drank and ranted about their classes. Alice looked forward to many more evenings with Bitsy and a bottle of wine now that they worked together.
Being a teacher, Alice saw her fair share of DILFs. Handsome, with perhaps a touch of gray at the temple, and empathetic. They were easy gossip between teachers, asking “did you see so and so’s dad?”. Of course, most were unavailable, and it would be unprofessional to approach those without a ring on their fingers.
Well-dressed and groomed, with dark brown hair carefully swept back and his full beard meticulously kept. Alice wanted to run her fingers through his hair, which looked soft, and stroke his chin. He wore a black three-piece suit, but he draped his coat over his arm. Professional, but endearing.
“I am Dr. Laszlo Kreizler, pleased to meet you.” He smiled politely and glanced at the boy beside him. Alice thought she detected an accent in the lilt of his words. German, perhaps?
“Stevie Taggert,” he offered his hand for her to shake. “Can I have one?” Stevie pointed to the near-full platter of cookies beside her.
“Of course,” Alice brightened, “that’s why I made them. While you eat, I’ll set a copy of the syllabus and my welcome sheet here.”
Stevie reached for a bright red apple, and his hand hovered over one of the sheets of notebook paper. Laszlo nodded, so Stevie passed it to him. Stevie took another cookie, a frosted pencil this time.
Dr. Kreizler dabbed at his lips with a napkin before speaking. His eyes hardened as if he switched to a work or professional mode. He reached for the papers she set on the desk and quickly skimmed. “What is your communication policy regarding parents and guardians?”
Alice expected the usual questions about her experience or her classroom policies. She tried not to let the surprise show on her face as she answered. Alice was not annoyed; she was pleasantly surprised. “Unless noted in a student’s learning plan, I work on an as needed basis. If something comes up, I will of course discuss it with you.”
She glanced between the two with a smile. Stevie seemed tired, if not apologetic, at Laszlo’s probing. Laszlo appeared satisfied with her answer, nodding once, and resting his hand in his pocket. He may have noticed the nervous twinge to her smile because he dropped his harsh mien and smiled.
“Forgive me, Stevie is a non-traditional student, and I worry for him.”
“Worrying means you care, Dr. Kreizler. As long as you do not smother Stevie nor myself, I do not mind.”
Stevie blushed, and a laugh bubbled up in Laszlo’s throat. He brushed his fingers over his mustache and bashfully dipped his head.
“I hope not,” he quipped, “for all our sake.”
Alice chuckled, and she wished them a good evening. Her hand brushed his as she handed him the papers, and their eyes met in that second. His eyes were dark, but they were warm too, warm enough to make her blush when he looked away. As soon as Laszlo and Stevie stepped out of the room, Alice typed a message to her friend.
Alice: Absolute DILF tonight 😵💫tell you about it over dinner 🍕🍷
Bits: Can’t wait!
The sun was still out when Laszlo and Stevie left the school. Stevie held the bundle of paperwork in his lap and nibbled one of the cookies he swiped from Ms. Greene while they were both distracted. He hoped she would bring in more cookies throughout the year, maybe if the class did well on an assignment or before a holiday break.
Laszlo asked which pizza place Stevie wanted to go to, breaking Stevie from his trance. He crammed the rest of the cookie in his mouth and struggled to speak around it.
“Stevie,” he chided, “you could have swallowed before speaking.”
“Sorry Doc.” He repeated the name of the restaurant, although Laszlo knew what he said before. “Is that okay with you?”
“It’s your night, Stevie.” He hit the blinker and fiddled with the stereo system. When Laszlo bought the car, Stevie had to painstakingly teach him to use the Bluetooth connection to play music. Half the time when they were in the car together, Stevie would play the music Laszlo wanted without asking. Light classical music filled the car.
Stevie fiddled with the corner of a page. “Do we need to go to the store? These lists mention school supplies I know I don’t have.”
Laszlo considered that a moment and ran through his to-do list. His university students should not be too troublesome as their semester recently started, so they cannot come crying to his office hours after an exam or essay yet. As for his Institute children, those still participating in the summer program were stable, and he had no major concerns.
“Let me check my office or at the Institute. Some of what they list you may not need, so there’s no sense in paying for it.” He glanced at Stevie during a stoplight. He leaned back comfortably in the seat, but he still crinkled the corners of the paper. “We can see about new clothes, or shoes if you prefer.” Laszlo noticed, and he knew Stevie must have as well, the clothing of his future peers. He never wanted to impose anything onto Stevie, God knows the boy marches to the beat of his own drum, but he thought he would offer.
Stevie shrugged. “If you have time.” While Laszlo focused on the road, he studied Laszlo’s expression. His brows creased and his lips pinched into a line, but that had nothing to do with him. Driving in the city aggravated him, and Stevie knew he had more on his mind.
Laszlo’s dark eyes flicked away from the road. “Of course I have time for you.” Though he may not have time for himself.
They sat in silence for the rest of the ride. Laszlo worried about Stevie adapting to a school environment again while Stevie thought about what else he needed to fix the vintage car in the garage. Both were engrossed in their thoughts and tapped one foot against the floorboards. Laszlo pulled into the familiar, cramped parking lot. He sighed in relief when he found a parking spot in the back corner, thankful it was not a tight fit.
A booth in the back was available, the restaurant quickly filled up with the evening crowd, and Laszlo enjoyed the relative privacy. Stevie did not need the menu to know what he wished to order, and he slumped in the booth. Open house drained him, reminding him he would be returning to a traditional school in a week.
“Well,” Laszlo entreated, “first thoughts and impressions? I for one cannot get that loathsome coach from my mind. I do apologize for my outburst in the gym, but I thought it important that someone stand up to him.” He sipped his water wishing he had a cup of coffee or tea. Perhaps he would brew some at home so he had something to sip while reading his paperwork.
Stevie blurted out, “He was a dick.” Laszlo glanced at him, but in a moment of silent agreement, he did not correct him. “And I hate that he’s both my gym and health teacher. I’ll be stuck with him all year long.”
“Unfortunately so. If he gives you any trouble, please speak with me. You know I am unafraid to fight others' battles.”
Laszlo noticed their waiter approaching to take their order, so he stacked Stevie’s menu atop his. He knew Stevie’s order without asking, and he placed their order. In the meantime, Stevie struggled to find the right words. He did not want Laszlo to fight his battles, but he knew in a school setting Stevie could not resolve things as he normally would. Coach Connor would not take kindly to a lead pipe in the back of the knee.
“I remember,” Stevie nodded. He decided to change topics as he picked at the paper straw wrapper. “I thought Ms. Sussman seemed nice. Science is my last class of the day, so everyone will either be tired from school or excited to go home.”
“True. It is near your locker, correct? So you will be able to take what you need and leave what you do not before going home?”
Stevie smirked, “I will, but judging by all the Google Classroom codes I think everything will be online.”
“Ah, how foolish of me,” Laszlo chuckled. “I have forgotten ours is the digital era.” He sighed fondly. “No more fountain pens and leather bound journals. It’s tablets, styluses and laptops.”
Their conversation wandered back to Stevie’s teachers. Most would appear nice at Open House, and in the first few weeks, their true personalities would be shown. Stevie noticed Laszlo brightened when he mentioned Ms. Alice Greene, his language arts teacher. The bashful smile and cheerful eyes reminded Stevie of his face when the waiter at Delmonico’s served his food. Laszlo’s first words praised her handmade and decorated cookies, and Stevie thought he saw traces of a smile. He praised her choice of books for the course and how each was insightful and provocative. Stevie commented it was likely the school or district’s choice rather than hers, but Laszlo did not seem dismayed.
Just as well, Stevie thought. He had not seen Laszlo so excited or passionate about something, or someone rather, in months. Stevie wondered if he could encourage this or nudge the two closer together. A comment here or there to plant the seed.
Besides, distracting the Doctor with teachers, books, and plans was better than letting him analyze him. Stevie did not want to talk about how nervous he was to be a fish out of water. Typical freshmen were not a year older than their classmates, nor did they have a record.
Alice waited in the kitchen, leaning against the counter, for Bitsy’s “here” text. She absentmindedly snacked on an open bag of chips while scrolling on her phone. Her professional shoes and dress were long gone and replaced by an old pair of sweatpants and a ratty t-shirt.
Georgie, her handsome tuxedo cat, petulantly meowed at her and broke her from her trance. It was past his dinner time, and he demanded to be fed. Alice consoled him in an affectionate tone, apologizing for the late meal. He pranced around her feet as she prepared his food, and he only stilled to eat from his bowl. She scratched behind his ears to apologize again. He purred, so she knew he would forgive her.
Alice checked her phone again and saw Bitsy’s text from two minutes ago. She opened the door to her little apartment, marketed as cozy, and saw her friend coming down the hall with a pizza box in hand and her overnight bag slung over her shoulder. “Next time,” Bitsy huffed, “we’re meeting at my apartment.” Alice laughed and held the door open. Her apartment was on the fourth floor whereas Bitsy’s lay on the first. Naturally, there was no elevator.
“Name the time and place.” Alice nudged Georgie away from the door with her foot. The last thing she wanted to do was chase him down the hallway. He sprinted back to his food bowl to finish his meal. Bitsy set the pizza box on the counter and grabbed paper plates from the cabinet while Alice pulled the wine bottle from the fridge and poured two glasses.
She considered her glass which was easily the equivalent of two or three. “I’m glad today is over. I’ve had enough of parents questioning my abilities and if I should teach their child as if I’ve never taught before.”
“And it’s only the beginning.” Bitsy clinked their oversized glasses together. “Wait until a child fails for not completing any work and then the parent wants to pin it on you, or they demand you change their grade for doing and turning in no work.”
Alice took two slices of gooey cheese and pepperoni pizza. “And of course, it’s hard to fail with the new policy.”
“Don’t even get me started on that,” Bitsy groaned. Half the teachers hated the policy, but it was beyond their control. It came from the district superiors who never set foot in a classroom and insisted their decisions would revolutionize education. “Tell me about this infamous DILF instead. Did I see him? More importantly, can I see him?”
“I think you would know if you did,” Alice chuckled, “Although with a boyfriend your DILF radar may be off. Dark hair and eyes, well dressed, and a touch of an accent. A little older, too.” Here, she emphasized each word, “Exactly my type.”
Bitsy grew serious, furrowing her brows and leaning forward over the cluttered table. “What’s his name?”
“Kreizler,” that alone was enough to send Bitsy reeling so Alice spoke swiftly, “Dr. Laszlo Kreizler. I don’t like that face, Bits, you’re scaring me. Who is he?” Georgie sensed her stress and hopped into the chair beside her.
Bitsy took a long sip from her wine glass before explaining. “He’s a handsome man, I’ll grant you that, but terrifying too. Lucius knows him from the station, and he sees him all the time at court. Says he’s like a hawk ready to swoop in and criticize or defend at any moment.” Alice nodded along, eating her pizza and chips. “He’s a psychologist, specializing in children and criminals, interestingly enough.”
“Weird combination but okay.” There must be a use for that.
“He’s a professor too, but I can’t remember which University. Local, obviously.”
“Obviously.” Alice doubted he commuted out of the city.
“And if I remember correctly, he also runs a daycare after school type thing for underprivileged children and those in his court cases. It’s got some weird name that always makes me think of an asylum or a mental hospital.”
“Busy man then.” If she felt she had no time, she couldn’t imagine being him. He’s burning the candle at both ends. “And the boy that’s with him, that can’t be his son. They have different surnames.”
“No, he’s not, but I don’t know how they’re related or how Dr. Kriezler has him. Could be a nephew or maybe a godson.”
“Hmm…” Alice knew him to be a serious man, it was in the way he dressed and carried himself, but she did not expect him to be involved in so much. Respectable. “He’s still a DILF though.”
“Absolutely,” Bitsy chuckled.
In some ways, it made him more of a DILF. He was clearly passionate and dedicated to his work. Laszlo was busy, but he must be organized if he could manage so much. And he cared for Stevie though he was not his son. All the makings of a dad she would like to fuck. If only it wouldn’t cross professional and ethical lines… Alice emptied her glass.

TW: femicide
No formal risk assessment was done on a man who beat a fellow care home resident to death, a review has found.
Alexander Rawson attacked 93-year-old Eileen Dean with a metal walking stick at a care home in south-east London.
Mrs Dean suffered catastrophic injuries to her head and body and died later in hospital.
A review found Fieldside Care Home in Catford did not provide the specialist mental health services that Rawson - who had a history of violence - needed.
Last year, Rawson was given an indefinite hospital order by a judge at the Old Bailey after it was decided he was mentally unfit to stand trial.
Rawson, who had a history of mental health problems caused by alcoholism, was 62 when he was placed in the home a few days before Christmas 2020.
He was put in the room next to Mrs Dean and, in the first week of 2021, he went into her room at night and attacked her.
In a review published on Friday, the Lewisham Safeguarding Adults Board said Rawson had been moved into the home after being an inpatient at a psychiatric unit run by the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.
The care home was the only place that agreed to take him after his discharge from hospital.
The report described how Rawson was moved between four hospital wards and a care home in three locations and between two NHS trusts with information not gathered, recorded correctly or passed on.
In the months before he was moved into the care home, Rawson was involved in at least 34 recorded incidents of violence or threats to patients and health staff, including a threat to kill.
He had threatened to use a bread knife, scissors and dinner trays as weapons, had thrown jugs of water and cups and smashed equipment including computers, a radio and a crash trolley.
Before he was placed in the home, no attempts were made to find out whether Rawson had come into contact with the criminal justice system over his behaviour, the report found.
It states that the care home had asked about the risks Rawson posed before they took him and had been reassured by a social worker and medical staff.
The review also found that when the care home agreed to take Rawson, it had not told the watchdog, the Care Quality Commission (CQC), that it was housing people under the age of 65 with certain mental health needs.
A CQC spokesperson said: "The circumstances of Eileen Dean's death are appalling and our thoughts are with everyone affected.
"Health and social care providers must ensure they adequately assess the needs of people receiving their services, and collaborate to ensure appropriate placements are made.
"This includes sharing all relevant information when a transfer is being considered, so a person's new service can assess whether it can meet their needs while ensuring the safety of other people using the service."
Mrs Dean's daughter Georgina Hampshaw said in a statement: "It is with great sadness and regret that the published report confirms our worst fears of the many failings by the various agencies and trusts charged with managing the care and placement of the person responsible for the death of my mother Eileen Dean.
"The decision to place this person at the care home where my mother resided could not have been more flawed and resulted directly in the horrific murder of my gentle mother.
"Numerous opportunities were missed by so many agencies that may have prevented the horrific incident.
"I sincerely hope that the recommendations detailed within the report are adopted expeditiously and in full.
"No other family should have to suffer the loss of a loved one in such tragic circumstances."
Nathalie Zacharias, director of therapies at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, said: "We welcome the report's findings and recommendations and have conducted our own full investigation which identified where we can make improvements to the care we provide.
"This includes putting robust checks in place to ensure all known risks, including those which take place off our premises, are fully recorded and documented and ensuring people in our communities continue to receive the care and treatment most suitable for their needs."
