Mixed Spaceverse sketch dump!

We've got a lot here, Cupios characters, Warlon characters, a few Drakul characters, potential Redhilla characters, and some older sketches that show characters that have been adapted to Spaceverse but don't have new portraits yet.

In order here we have: Jaster, his mom Jolie, then Al, and Jolie's new husband Andras, then we have Amara and Mercy, Polly, Jolie's brother Alec and their dad Antonio, Mercy solo, Beau, Jolie with Andras, Jolie with her friend Cael, Amare, a silly meme sketch of Jaster checking out Bogdan (aka Boggie), Jolie's uncle Gabe in a few sketches, along with her cousin Lucas, and Gabe dancing with Roksana (aka Roxy.) After that we have Tuya, Tuya's son Jagun when he was younger playing with a younger Daniel (aka Danny), then Nergui the current "leader" of the Obsidian Court, and Haseya a Magi (still to be introduced in the RP), Jacques (potentially a Cupios/Olympian, still to be introduced to the RP), and then some older art that predates the RP. The older pieces feature Trixie, Alister, Haseya, Fang-Hua, Anne, Albrecht, Derik, and Bea (who hasn't been seen yet in Spaceverse but I have some ideas to adapt her.)

Spaceverse art!

Okay so I haven't decided exactly how I'm organizing these yet, but here's my first batch of the Spaceverse art posts! I've got a backlog of at least 205+ artworks to archive for this, so I had to get started somewhere. This is the original RP (and basis for my novel in progress) that I write with my friend Sakume, dating back some years now (maybe since 2019?) I don't have a title for the novel yet, so this is simply known as Spaceverse for now.

These characters originally came from some old forums we wrote on (circa 2006 at the start), and one day I came up with a new AU for them in a completely new space fantasy setting, with a new plot and new origins for the characters. I asked my friends Sakume and Cookie to participate, and this story was born. Cookie no longer actively writes in this RP with us, but some of their characters still show up in the art here and I'm very grateful for their contributions.

Sakume and I still write together and are adding new characters all the time! :) I grouped this batch of art to include sketches that mainly featured characters hailing from the planet of Illumina or the moon sanctuary of Nova Lux.

In order here we have: sketches of Cadenza, Altair/Vivace (her sister in the novel version, unrelated in the RP but may retcon, also Fabi/Alex's late mom and Anton's late wife), then Cadenza's daughter Luisa and a sketch of Cadenza in prison back on the Vault where it all started. Then we have Luisa and (spoiler!) young/child form Dawa, Cadenza with Adam, Adam himself, and then a bunch of sketches of their family together. Following that, we have Queen Venus (aka Elena), Cadenza's mom Sonya, Sonya with Leona, Xiulan, sketches of Cadenza and a masked Xiulan, Mingzhu, Joan (not an Illumin character but hey she ended up on my sketch page back then), older/adult form Dawa, young Dawa, Mingzhu, Cadenza's dad Galliard, Louis (another non-Illumin here to fit page space), Cadenza's sister Luminari, Cadenza herself, Lu with her husband Jaster, Simha (revamped character to replace Leona) and then Cascadia Riveria (Faer character, but happened to be on that sketchbook page.) Then lastly a few pencil sketches I missed, Xiulan, Mercy with Ramiro, Luminari and Cadenza, and some of my initial concept sketches of Spaceverse Cadenza and Luisa.

At the very end, we have some much older sketches that predate this RP, with Mother Carla, Ancient Ren of the Order, and Cadenza's late husband Paris (along with a sketch of Cadenza from a previous story where she was a human mage with shadow magic), previous versions of Vivace, Algretta, Luminari, Arietta, Cadenza, Sonya, Galliard, Reymundo, Izumi, Xiulan, Sarai (an angelo who hasn't appeared in the RP yet, but I might adapt to use her design for Damien's mom Dinah), Shui Ya of Nova Lux, and Fletcher (a Faer character, but he happened to be on this page.) I still need to draw many of these characters some new portraits as their phantasm selves in this storyverse/setting, but I'm saving these older drawings for reference.

Some characters are going to show up that don't quite fit into these groupings because I tend to just draw whoever I feel like on my paper that fits before scanning them in. x3 Sometimes I edit them after to reorganize, but often times not.

Adam and Jaster belong to Sakume, and Leona and Joan belong to Cookie. The rest of the characters belong to me, but big credit to both of my friends for their help developing the world, organizations and characters, particularly in this case, Cookie brainstorming the Order of Lux Aeterna/Nova Lux with me, and Sakume brainstorming so many of the Vault characters and more.

Also small side note: I've been using the surname "Madrigal" since 2006 for Cadenza and her family waaay back on Zelda Universe forums, but I'm super happy it's way more popular a name now thanks to Encanto and I do love that movie. The movie was in no way a basis for these names, but I love to see more Latin culture and names in media, so I'm all for it. ^_^

Disney Say Aro

Charlotte and Anna are hopeless romantics. They love meeting up for a good rom-com and catching up on their romantic lives. But every once in a while, Anna gets the feeling that Lottie is just a little too into it. She goes on and on about these amazing dates she's been on yet they never actually lead to the romantic relationship of her dreams. Anna's considered saying something, but instead opts not to pry and let Lottie come to whatever conclusion on her own eventually. In the meantime, she just enjoys seeing her friend light up talking about her dreams.

This pairing came a little out of left field. I had Princess and the Frog on in the background while trying (and failing) to draw a different pairing but, naturally, kept glancing at the TV. It's so obvious that Charlotte is a romantic at heart. From the time she's been little she's talked about finding her dream prince and getting married. But here's the thing - in real life, that's the kind of thing that's expected, what we're supposed to want. That's the amatonormativity talking. What happens if, even when you think you find the person of your dreams it doesn't fall into place? When the idea of it happening is more appealing than the reality? That's where the term cupioromantic comes in; the desire for a romantic relationship but not (or rarely, hardly, sporadically, etc) feeling romantic attraction. It felt like such an interesting dynamic to play with when it came to Charlotte. It's also a reminder that there's no wrong way to be aromantic. You can enjoy the idea of romance or a romantic novel or movie but not want it for yourself. And that's just as valid as never feeling or wanting anything to do with romance.

From what i could find online, there were a few cupioromantic flags. Most are alternatives to the general cupio flag which would represent both cupiosexual and cupioromantic. I opted to go with the most used flag, but you can use whichever design you gravitate more towards. I almost used the pink from the cupio flag for Lottie because putting her in pink or even red felt so obvious. But i wanted the romantic identity to stand out on its own rather than be tied to the sexual one; because while cupio is both an asexual and aromantic identity, not everyone who is aro identifies as ace. So as strange as it felt to color Lottie in green, it not only made sense to solidify that, yes, this is specifically about an aro identity, but it's also a nod to the bond that she shares with Tiana. Because we all know that Charlotte has always come through for her friend and would choose her over romance any day.

There's also little pan-colored hearts on Anna's shirt at my friend's suggestion because i just couldn't resist throwing in my personal headcannon as Anna being pansexual. 😆

Happy Aromantic Spectrum Awareness Week to my fellow aro-specs! 💚 This may not be much, but i hope that every little drawing is enough to help you feel seen, accepted, and validated. With so little representation out there, sometimes we just have to make it ourselves. And if that means continuing to make Disney gay, then i guess we'll just have to keep that going. so, how does this apply to Asmodeus?

Ozzie DEFINIETELY was a secret romantic this whole time. He was hating love too much not to be secretly into it. I can see him complaining to Bee about wanting to find somone.

"Meeting you was the best thing that ever happened to me"

I believe that Asmodeus hasn't been in a romantic relationship before Fizzarolli and had never actually experienced romantic feeling for anyone.

Asmodeus is immortal and has been around for at least 10000 years if not more.

So this means that he had not experienced romantic love for THOUSANDS of years. While being into romance stuff this whole time.

How would this work with his relationship with Fizzarolli?

He never actually loved him romantically. He never actually experienced romantic feelings so he can't differentiate between different types of attraction.

I see his feeling for Fizzarolli for strong platonic, sexual, aesthetic and sensual attraction that he mistook for romantic feelings, but he's satisfied with his relationship because that's what he's been craving all along.
