Career Legacy Challenge: Rules

A Sims 4 completionist legacy challenge that plays through all the careers while aiming to complete all collections, rewards, aspirations, degrees, skills, using all traits and worlds in-game.

Basic Rules

Since there are 26 generations in all, heirs could be named alphabetically

Spouses must complete the other career track, unless there’s only one career branch

Spouses may complete the side quests, second aspiration, and/or after-school activity

University is optional except when an organization or an after-school activity is specified

The family museum should contain the collections, career rewards, and other memorabilia of the family. It can be a closed retail lot that is passed throughout the generations.

Carmy is based on THE STORERS

I read a few weeks ago on here that someone thought Sydney was gonna quit The Bear because "her character was based on Courtney Storer " and IRL she quit her dream job in CA because she burnt out there and it was one of the most disappointing experiences of her life.

I was sooooooo sure that was inaccurate because IK for a fact that Sydney's character is based on the first black female chef to ever win a Michelin Star, the one and only: Mariya Moore-Russell.

Context: Mariya won the star in 2019 when Chris Storer was still working on the ORIGINAL "THE BEAR" MOVIE SCRIPT, as I mentioned here.

So that's why Sydney's character was inspired by her and even her hairstyle was inspired by Mariya who sported braids for years.

BUT

Carmy on the other hand is a mix of Chris and Courtney's past and hopes and dreams. Carmen Berzatto is a hybrid character. The result of Chris and Courtney's real-life story of how they overcame trauma by finding solace in art.

Chris tried being a chef once, before changing careers, as he mentions here. He also mentions Carmy's character was based on many chefs he knows IRL including his sister. I have mentioned in many previous posts that Carmy is based ON HIM mostly (the personality), but yeah, the culinary part and the finding solace in making food and understanding food as a way to show love and hospitality to others, a way of connecting with others, THAT is all Courtney.

Courtney was and still is a successful chef. Turns out she, like Carmy, found solace in cooking and in that way "escape" her trauma for years, she found cooking to be a way to get out of her head and be "into her hands". This rings a bell, right?

It wasn't till later in life when she healed and no longer needed to do that, now she's EP of the show.

So Carmy's character is a mix of Chris and Courtney.

The psycho-chef post-EMP is Chris' dark side. It doesn't mean he is like this IRL, of course. It means he can be like this, but he prefers to pour all of that on the paper and sublimate it into his characters. More about that here and here. The one that reacted like this when Mickey cut him off:

The part of Carmy that we love, the Carmy that was almost nowhere to be found this past season, the sweet part, it's all Courtney, the one that was under the table and told Syd: "You love taking care of people" is Courtney's voice:

The Carmy that said that fixing the restaurant was a way of fixing his own family trauma, is inspired on Courtney. So were Carmy’s panic attacks. (And Syd’s for that matter).

The part of Carmy that struggles to find amusement and enjoyment after trauma and puts all his energy into work is both, Chris and Courtney:

Back to the girls!

Almost a year has passed since the fateful wedding day. Deep healing has been done and, well, Tiana and Charlote are back on their tracks. They're about to graduate finally and each has something in between their hands.

Charlotte got a new knight in shiny armor: Malcolm Landgraab, no less. After rekindling their teenage romance (and considering how wealthy he is), Lottie finally gave in and there's a wedding right in the corner!

Tiana, actually, has a decision to make. She can't decide between entering the culinary career or going solo and try to run her own business. So busy!

DISCLAIMER: this is just a very subjective list of young actors (young: born after 1990) who i think have really diverse and impressive performances. while not all my ult actors jj krissanapoom, up poompat... are present, i don't think of them any less. just that these are people who i've been most impressed with their transformation from one role to another.

1. NONKUL CHANON

I really will praise Nonkul every chance I get. I do think Nonkul is an actor who is constantly trying to hone his craft regardless of his experiece. I also like that as a member of THACCA, Nonkul is really active in initiating capacity building activities with his working group for the industry like these TOSAA roundtable discussions.

2. TOR THANAPOB

I love how much Tor relentlessly work with the thought of he could retire anytime soon. I remember earlier this year tracking to see which series has more filming queues (Nonkul's Mouse or Tor's My Cherie Amour because both series were over 70 filming queues). And yet immediately after MCA, Tor jumped directly into filming Spare Me Your Mercy so we could get it in November 28 (NEXT WEEK). He's just so hardworking and I love that these days he's been slowly picking his scripts so that his repertoire can be diversified (so he doesn't get boxed as the "actor who's only good at dramatic/intense roles). My Cherie Amour really proved that he's perfect for romcoms and I sincerely hope its successful performance has given him more confidence to do more comedy works in the future.

3. ICE NATARA

I've found in making this list and the actors whose performances have astounded me are often the ones who don't have too many projects at all, or they really take time to pick and choose their scripts. Even though he got his first start as a model, Ice has really proven himself through performances in GDH film One For The Road or Netflix TH series Delete. I seriously got a huge whiplash when I watched Delete because I couldn't believe the same actor playing that bulky villainous plantation owner is the same cancer-battling protagonist in One For The Road.

like allow me to just add one more gif because him filming Delete right after One For The Road is exactly the reason why Ice Natara totally deserved both the Suphannahong Award and Nataraj Award for these roles of his.

4. PEACH PACHARA

Born into the fourth richest family in Thailand, you'd think Peach Pachara wouldn't survive the nepo baby actor allegations. Oh but he did, not only did he survive, I think he's succesfully made a career for himself in doing everything that he loves like running his own snack business (anyone has tried his Potato Corner yet?), composing music scores for his series, and starring in whatever series he wants at his own pace.

Unlike the other actors on this list, I think Peach particularly excels at his "bad boy, asshole, occasionally with a heart of gold" character typecasting that I actually don't mind most of his roles being in the same color. Peach always gets the best characterisations for his roles so even if its a nonsensical comedy like Bat War or angsty lakorn like The Root or heist drama like The Believers, I can always trust Peach to deliver fully and exactly what his character promises in the first place.

5. JAMES TEERADON

Love that James has been fully investing in his culinary journey for the past 3 years but he never really leaves us and sometimes come back with an interesting script. This year alone, we finally got James back in heist drama The Believers and time-loop romcom Love Stuck. Similar to others on this list, James really takes time choosing his acting projects but one thing I know is that he will never settle for an uninspiring script.

6. AELM BHUMIBHAT

My first introduction to Aelm was through 2019 GDH film Happy New Year. But it was actually his performance in Doi Boy that made me deep dive into his filmography and I'm just completely in awed of his acting methodologies and his chosen projects. Not always something digestable, often very niche and indie but Aelm is always killing his roles, an absolute scene stealer. His conversation with Pat Chayanit solidified him on this list for me. I can't wait for more fans to discover him through Spare Me Your Mercy. Personally though, I'm actually more excited to watch him play a cult-ish villain? in the Buddhist themed episode of Tomorrow and I (coming to Netflix this December 4)

7. UD AWAT

i don't think i need to say anything about ud awat. his series of posts (1, 2, 3, his goodbye post devastated me) talking about his transformation into Sorn for Doi Boy is testament to his love for acting. i'm actually forever grateful that Doi Boy came at a time when ud was considering leaving acting altogether because it truly "reignited [his] love for acting" for him and that passion in the film is just so palpable.

8. FILM THANAPAT

no words. i love this man. film is truly one31's most reliable leading actor. end of story. i don't think one31 will ever let him go but i do hope one day netflix thailand will score him for an original series because i sincerely believe he can bring even more to the table with a series that isn't written within the constraints of one31 script team.

honorable mentions: GEE SUTTHIRAK

I'd say Gee was my favorite discovery this year because I binged so much of his works like Sweet Sensory, Terror Tuesday: Extreme, The Cheery Lee Village Headman, The Betrayal, My Boo. My only qualm is that I don't think his other Workpoint lakorns (6th Sense Agency, The Scent of Hers) are that good but like they seem to love keeping Gee busy. Waiting to see Gee in Tomorrow and I, @ netflix thailand pls keep this man busy I beg

i feel kinda robbed that bright worked so hard this year, filming THREE projects consectively (two series and a film) but only the film came out. ch3 refuses to air his shelved lakorn as well. i have no hope for monomax in making his series available with engsub but i will definitely do my best in giffing his series with linn mashannoad and ken phupoom next year.

POOM PHURIPAN

the reason i hesitate adding poom in here is because i feel like his acting approach is still very instinctive and he hasn't really had many chances to develop his own methodologies to approaching his characters because his roles at ch8 were pretty much the same every time. it's really obvious that he's got potential and he just needs the right script, producers and director to bring out the acting skills he's gained from starring in dramatic lakorns. regardless, he obviously goes on the list because he's given my favorite acting performance of the year. period.

final note: you can very much tell that i'm biased because more than half of this list is gdh/nadao actors, but thank you for sending this ask nonetheless so i can share my love for these actors.

Whitewave Limestone household VIII Part 2 of 2: Settling in

Rosa is still quite young, but she has already reached the top of the dance career track, and therefore has very few days to work. What better way to spend the time than... being pregnant and suffering of a weird issue of not being able to walk through doors.

Meanwhile Rosa focuses on eating and sleeping, Ilona and Shane focus on work. Shane works both in the family hospital as well as in SimCity general, which means he has little time for anything else. His boyfriend Ivern does stop by once or twice, though. Ilona on the other hand has been racking up promotions in the culinary career.

Near the end of the week, Rosa and Ilona welcome their first son October into their lives. October has inherited his grandfather's (and grand-grandmother's!) green eyes, as well as his grandmother's brown hair.

Remember when Ebra's future at The Bear wasn't certain?

Remember when this trailer hit and we freaked out?

I was worried about Ebra. I thought he would quit or maybe get fired because he couldn't keep up with the new pace. In season one he was a bit dismayed by all of the components in the chicken piccata. In the moment above there was foreshadowing that he wasn't confident about his place in the future. Things moved forward rapidly. He didn't thrive like Tina in culinary school. In a crueler kitchen he may have been forgotten when he disappeared but he wasn't. He was given space but he wasn't cut loose. People were concerned. Carmy asked about him. Tina reconnected with him. He still had a spot on the team, just one reimagined. I'm glad.

Edwin has high billing despite a small role. He's a legend in Chicago. I honestly think Ebra's the funniest character even though he doesn't get the big goofy, flashy moments. Please let him be funny again! But there is a story of immigration, sadness, and loss for him that is ready to be told. I don't think they will ever give him a big storyline but I do hope he at least gets a monologue to explain the whole thing or it gets revealed in bits and pieces along the way. Also, I think his style doesn't get enough love. He dresses like the older fly African and Caribbean men I see in my Brooklyn neighborhood. Bright colors, bold patterns, boho accessories. It's a vibe. I bet he smells good, too. And he's attractive. If I was his age...

I think Ebra's arc last season says a lot about the show and the people behind it. Carmy could have let Ebra go. There was a lot going on and he could have just saw a rogue element and dropped that ass. But who would Carmy be to judge? He was the most rogue element all season and was the weakest link at Friends & Family. Instead, Carmy still found value in him. Tina could have rubbed in her all star status and promotion but she didn't. She saw a friend struggling, not competition. She had the vision for him in his current position.

Storer saw Edwin in a local play when he was a kid, thought he was the most magical actor he'd seen, remembered him, kept up with his Chicago career, and sought him out for this role. He didn't have to do that. He could have hired a more widely known talent but he gave his childhood favorite actor the opportunity. He remembered and honored him.

I see a lot of how Storer is with his talent in how Carmy is as a leader. Carmy is deeply flawed but he does invest in his people. He could have fired the old crew from day one. But he didn't clean house and hire a bunch of Sydney's (he only needed one). He could have started with an entirely new crew when he decided to rebrand, but he didn't he decided to fast track his found family. Storer wanted people he had worked with to work on The Bear. Jeremy (his award winning lead), Ayo (breakout star, IMO romantic lead, and future director thanks to Chris), Ramy (director), and Molly (romantic interest) are people he worked with in the past, sought out again, and saw how they could build on what he saw in them before.

Anyways, this was partially an ode to Ebra/Edwin and partially me getting warm fuzzies over Storer as a generous show runner and Carmy as a generous anti-hero.

Journey

Kagome perked up as she rounded the corner, counting down her steps before turning around. Her smile brightened as she spotted her friend, waving enthusiastically. He looked bored, as usual, ivory teeth gleaming in the morning sun as he yawned.

She wasn't sure who owned the beast, but he sat in the upper window of the library every on her way to work. He had all the features of a dog, but she knew that appearances were deceiving in her small town. Magic thrummed under the pavement, teasing her senses with each journey she took. It could be a simple trip to the grocery store, or a night out with her friends—or even just walking to work—but she could feel it in the air, the trees, the residents.

She could never get enough.

The town was centred around the Sacred Tree of Ages, though he went by Goshinboku in the last few centuries. Everyone was blessed with a talent when they came of age, as long as their soul was not tainted. He could see the good in people, the potential, so a trip up now and again was usually forgiven. Those rejected by Goshinboku outright were few and far between, and Kagome had never witnessed one in her lifetime.

There were rules, of course; once your talent was bestowed, it had to be registered with city hall, and every magical deed was tracked to make sure they weren't being abused, but the town as a whole was content with their power, using it to make their days a little easier—or someone's smile a little brighter.

The best part about it was no one competed with each other since no duplicate talents were given to those of the living. Everyone had a unique gift. Some talents were cycled through, but they usually appeared at least a decade after their previous owner's passing.

Kagome had been worried that talents were passed down through family bloodlines, as the power to see spirits had happened twice within hers, but when she'd stepped into Goshinboku's glade at fifteen, his power surged through her hands instead. The scent of pastries and freshly picked fruit had filled her nose, and she'd known instantly where her power lay.

She'd always enjoyed cooking with her mother, but she'd never considered making a career of it.

Her grandfather had hoped she would take over the family shrine, but her talent changed that, giving her the freedom to explore various culinary paths until she settled into the role of a pastry chef. It was busy work, but the delight on her customers' faces made it worth it.

One of her biggest fans had even left her a shop, encouraging her to put her spin on everything once she was gone. Kagome had thought she'd been joking, but when the will was read and the deed handed over, she'd nearly burst with excitement.

In an Everyone Lives scenario, what majors/career paths do you think all the Hacketteers would end up in? Obviously we have animation for Ryan and physics for Dylan suggested in the game but so many people end up changing their majors anyway, I wonder if the experience would lead them on different paths than they’d originally intended.

so right off the top of my head, i think about Max's major a lot & i end up tossing two things around - law school or childcare/teaching. he seems like a level-headed guy, he breaks down situations in pieces until he understand them ("You remember when I said, 'whoa, look at the moon. it's so big and bright and- it's so cool to see a full moon' and you said "yeah no shit, Max, it happens once a month'?"), & also.... we've all seen his outfit in the 50s pack. but i still come back to childcare bc i grew up working in childcare & he just seems the type for it. maybe he got rejected from Landis for law & pursues childcare or teaching at a smaller school instead & ends up one of those teachers that everyone wants to get on their schedule

Laura, the love of my life, the breath in my lungs, is such a headstrong badass that she prolly still pursues her vet degree, altho i can see her minoring/taking a few psychology classes to coach her & Max thru the rough times

Abi definitely finds her way to art school, i just don't see her changing that. i do think she expands from just sketching & gets into different mediums - pottery, possibly sculpting, using charcoal and paint - bc i think she'd find it calming to work with her hands, cover her skin in anything but red, & she'd lean into it for stress relief

uhh Nick is so complicated sometimes that predicting what the absolute FOOL (affectionate) is going to do is impossible. i want to say culinary school but if i'm being honest, i think he would end up dropping out & just working at restaurant. i don't say this bc i hate him, i say this bc he's a clown. (also i may or may not have done the same thing, minus the culinary part) or maybe he becomes a forest ranger & spends time alone in his ranger tower listening to the forest

Jacob i whole-heartedly believe goes for coaching/athletics or something, but he joins the college sports team (prolly football or maybe hockey) & that's the path he ends up following. he definitely has to get a tutor

i think Emma maybe pursues marketing/advertising or something of the sort, but i also think she def starts loading up her schedule. volunteer work? no worries, she can run it. student council? sure, she'll apply. you know, lacrosse sounds rlly fun all of a sudden, she should join the team! & she kills, obvi. if she never thinks about it, it never happened. if she never has time to think, she can never think about it

Kaitlyn.... she's the one i've been thinking about the most. she's such an odd character bc we see so much of her & yet i still feel like we don't know anything about her. her entire character is kind of just "im mean, i know first aid & i can shoot" & then we love her bc she's a badass. which i don't mind but it makes it kind of hard to make theories on her future. i imagine she IS one who ends up switching her major. she prolly starts with what she had planned - maybe an english degree? - but then switches bc hackett's quarry changed her & she'll never stop thinking about it. i like to think maybe she ends up in enviromentalism, or possibly on the nursing track. something to occupy her mind

Ryan & Dylan honestly seem rlly well suited for their majors so i don't know of i can imagine them doing something else. i do think Ryan starts taking self-defense class & prolly makes Sarah go with him just to be sure she knows. just in case. Dylan takes a part-time job at either the school's radio station or a local one, & if he DID drop out, he would 100% start a podcast. all those fanfics are canon

this was rlly fun to think about even tho i'm not sure how accurate they are - i would love to hear other ideas! thank you for the ask :)

DOES TIA Do any school club stuff? Does she have one she admires, likes? Dislikes?

THANKS I LOVE TIA LORE DUMP EXCUSES!! SHE IS OFFICIALLY in the Newspaper Club 😩, but not out of actual interest. It’s just a means to assist in documenting her school life as she’s supposed to do. It’s her credit, I guess. Honestly, they don’t really get into the logistics too much, so I wouldn’t sweat the details here either. I imagine Crowley just shoved her (and Grim) in there.

Though despite being in that club, Grim says he’s in the “Gourmet Club.” But that’s just self-proclaimed only 😩 that club doesn’t actually exist, it’s just an excuse to eat food after classes are done. (Tho im pretty sure this is actually true, I have no basis for this though, just a hunch, but my hunch hasn’t been wrong yet.) I’m sure his “club” has a lot going for it considering the sole member lives with freaking Tia, an already gifted chef. Besides, they count as one student. If Tia is officially in the Newspaper Club, then so is he via technicality.

Since cooking is an art she’d probably be more drawn to the “arts” clubs. It’s hard to say if she admires any though, given I think she can have a one track mind at times. I don’t think she really gives herself the opportunity to be interested in them beyond surface level. Which kinda sucks, cuz she might be missing out on new things to experience or be invested in. She’s not a sports person either, but nearly all her closer friends are in sports clubs, so she’s often present to see tourneys, games, whatever if they have any. Which btw, this is definitely a shift from how she’d be back in her home world, cuz if her friends there ever invited her to anything or ask her to do something like that she’d’ve just shirked it in favor of focusing on her long term goal (as per her Tiana allusions, cough cough. And now she may never see those friends again :’3). She still kinda tries to shirk going to these things because… habits, y’know. I’m not entirely sure she has any opinion on sports clubs themselves, again, that one track mind can sorta. Y’know.

The only club Tia would actually want to hypothetically be in is a Cooking Club because god forbid she stray from the path she set up for herself. Though, I am not sure if one is confirmed to actually exist at the school. The Master Chef/Culinary Crucible special class DOES though, so I don’t know. I DREW THAT! …If Tia wasn’t so serious sometimes, I don’t think she would be totally opposed to just joining in on the “Gourmet Club” thing. She loves food too.

Total aside, I like to imagine that the Newspaper Club is sparsely populated with a few guys (probably 3) who just don’t even talk to each other lol. They all do different things without exactly collaborating because it’s NRC. No one reads the newspaper anyway!! Internet exists, as everyone points out. Club time for Tia is sitting in a classroom and perusing her ghost camera photos and organizing things. Or just… think. Worst case scenario she and Grim are completely alone in that “club” and it was a dead club that only got resurrected cuz it was convenient for the bird man and happened to line up with Tia’s documenting school life thing. Honestly that feels real. She’d rather be doing anything else though. It’s not like clubs were a school requirement back home unless you wanted to look more rounded on some applications. Clubs weren’t exactly on her radar either, it was saving money to get into her own school of her dreams. So dividing time for a club and hanging with people was mostly off the table.

I think Tia is still trying to figure herself out though. A lot of her identity so far is still solely based around her long term career goal and hardly considers much of anything else if it doesn’t tie into that somehow. The whole “being transported to another world” thing is just an obstacle on the path right now. Omg I wonder if she’ll be forced to go through life changing stuff, learn lessons, and go with the flow on top of being forced to confront any internal demons that up until now she’s been burying from watching other guys completely collapse from doing so, plus… other typical things of the genre!!! 🫣🫣

…it’s an in-joke that I think she low key enjoys the picture taking. The cast is very pretty.

Today's (8/5/2024) Episode: Life Back on Track

Luigi and Noemi’s shopping trip boosted their confidence, but they still had to go out into the world and face the challenges of their new age stage.

For Luigi that began at home with learning to manage his diabetes. First, Noemi helped him purge the fridge. Everything that didn’t fit his new dietary restrictions had to go! It hurt to throw some of his favorite treats into to the trash, but not as much as it could hurt if they tempted him to ill health.

Next, after some research online he purchased a discreet glucose monitor that delivered real time data straight to his phone. When the app alerted him that his sugar levels were too high, he had insulin on hand to help get things back on track. Both he and Noemi learned how to administer the injections but mostly Luigi preferred to do it on his own, in private.

Luigi wasn’t the only one experimenting with new ways to get his daily nourishment. Now that he could sit up, Skye seemed to like nothing better than tasting a wide variety of interesting new textures and flavors form his highchair, just as grandpa Peachy had predicted.

Luigi had been sad his father had passed on before he could show his grandbaby the world of tasty delights, but unlike Jack Peachy had no qualms about coming around for regular visitations. With a hearty laugh the ghostly specter proclaimed, “these translucent fingers can hold a spoon just as well, thank you very much!” before happily plopping his grandbaby in his new favorite spot for a little culinary bonding time.

Luigi got in a little grandfatherly bonding time of his own when Great Grandpa Don popped online to chat while they played Party Frenzy.

His ancestor could sympathize with Luigi’s health struggles, remembering how devastating it had felt when he was first diagnosed with asthma. His personal success with adjusting his lifestyle to suit the demands of his new condition gave Luigi hope he could do the same.

With his reminder to stay active Luigi and Noemi began to fulfill that promise they’d made to each other to get back into a regular fitness routine. Their island home was perfect for outdoor activity most of the time and a run on the beach was a great way to have fun and stay fit!

Luigi’s big adjustments at home made it easier to continue racking up success at work. With his diabetes under control, he was able to quickly knock off his regular daily tasks with time left over to continue his “special project” of revamping the teams website.

His long-standing appreciation of art combined with some research online about current graphic design trends helped him to modernize the site’s backgrounds and fonts. His bosses loved the fresh new look and showered him with praise for a job well done.

Luigi was excited to receive his first endorsement deal since the great video he’d made with his father. When his brother Kian called for some advice “getting out there”, he decided to stick to the winning family-oriented formula and invite his siblings to join him for the filming.

While his drone Yoshi circled the dance floor, the boys (and Kian’s friend) recorded some great dance scenes and a bunch of slice-of-life banter.

Capturing more scenes of the neighborhood before and after, Luigi had a lot of footage to edit into a compelling lifestyle piece promoting clubs like The Narwhal Arms. He worked hard late into the night to craft something with just the right vibe, smiling when Kian thanked him for the great time.

From the way the final product was coming together he was sure the sponsors would be just as happy!

Noemi didn’t find herself having nearly as much fun and success as her fiancée with the start of her own career.

When it became apparent that therapy alone wasn’t going to make her feel comfortable dealing with all the social stresses of working in an office, she scheduled a follow-up appointment with the psychiatrist and agreed to give medication a try.

She was not fond of the side effects, but she hoped the meds would make a positive difference to her work performance.

Noemi also took advantage of the natural stress relief of spending time with her favorite people, and her favorite four-legged friends.

Little Roach’s long face always brought her a smile. Some might find his wandering through the house at all hours odd, but it comforted her to have him always so nearby.

Luigi also did his part to brighten his fiancée’s day. One particularly steamy dream even inspired him to show her all the fun tricks that he learned from his crazy ex teammate so long ago. He had been hurt by Jade’s dismissal then, but he was comforted by the knowledge that it had ultimately led him to a partner who really appreciated him.

Of course, the couple also spent plenty of time with their son, even if Grandma Valentina perhaps did more than her fair share of the baby care.

Luigi never had warmed to fatherhood like his papa. He continued to find the daily tasks of caring for an infant nauseating, tedious, and often confusing – what did he WANT!? When Skye learned to babble it helped, but Luigi would never say parenting was his favorite activity.

However, when Skye learned to “dance”… that was a joyous day indeed! As the 4 sims celebrated with an impromptu dance party in the living room Luigi reflected on how glad he was that things seemed to be getting back on track. He hoped to enjoy more of the same in the days to come.

THE LAST PLACE SYDNEY WORKED BEFORE THE BEEF

On Sydney's resume, the last place she worked before the Beef was Alinea.

I was curious so I looked it up

Her resume said she was a server and chef. So I assume she started as a server then quite soon moved up to chef.

I assume chef would make more. Not sure about the hierarchy.

I say all this to say, we know she didn't get fired because Carmy said he called around and they said she was excellent, just very green (experience wise I guess). However with all that green she moved up fast working there.

SO MY BIG QUESTION IS, WHY DID SHE LEAVE?

Her resume is excellent and the Beef is a sandwich shop.

So season 3 better come with it.

Unless she went looking specifically for Carmy who appeared back on the Chicago culinary radar two weeks ago and put out an ad for a sous. Remember RICHIE said 'you've been here two weeks and we've had money problems for two weeks '

So if she left Alinea for the Beef, then she was in fact keeping track of Carmy.

She worked at Alinea for a year, that's not enough time to pay her debts from Sheridan Road Catering, but she was on her way if she stayed there.

Something is not adding up

So I just have to assume she is doing all this for Carmy.

I'm also assuming that Carmy knows just how great she is and is wondering why she's there.

Also, when he tasted her Cola Braised Beef and Risotto, I know for sure he was POSITIVE then, the extent of her talent.

The review episode was probably him fearful that she would and could leave at any time.

However he didn't think it through. She could have left way before that, she didn't even have to come in the first place.

Season three better be in the works.

That is more than okay, a predictable yet pleasant request coming from you. Rather than a drawing I chose to write a short story about Saphira. It's about 1329 words long. I meant to make it shorter but I lost track of time and just kept writing. Enjoy.

Pokemon Reborn - Saphira Belrose & Her Culinary Ventures

Saphira was slouching on the couch and crushing her left arm in the process. Not at all a healthy sitting posture, but whatever, she’ll probably right herself in a minute. She was in that frustrating state where her eyes felt tired but her body had lots of energy, she commonly felt this way in the morning. Maybe this wouldn’t happen if she just slept longer and woke up at a better time, she was in the habit of staying up till midnight every day and waking herself up for something at seven.  

As much as she hated the orphanage her nighttime curfew was largely good for her, if nothing else about that place. 

Okay, she forced herself to sit up on the couch. She was home, the Belrose Household hidden in Tanzan Cove. She had to stop thinking about the orphanage at every possible opportunity, she had to stop. 

But how could she?

Her childhood suffering had largely defined the course of her life. She didn’t feel safe so she became strong, the strongest gym leader so she could make her own safety. She was never able to protect herself from what Sigmund did to her, so she just obsessed over protecting others instead. Just yesterday herself, Charlotte and Decibel all went to Labradorra city so that Saphira could plan how to build that youth shelter she was going to commit her career to. 

She hated the place Sigmund built so she was going to build her own place that hopefully would feel to children and teens like the place she wishes she had growing up. Labradorra was even the city where Sigmund died, would she ever truly be rid of him?

She had to stand up and do something. Stop brooding. She went into the kitchen. Neither Laura nor Charlotte were awake yet, it was a Saturday at half seven in the morning. Saphira had meant to also sleep in, but she just couldn’t.

She looked at a pot in the sink that someone was going to need to hand wash. This was the one she used to burn water. Twice.

Yesterday Charlotte had said: “You may not exactly be the motherly type, but we all know you well enough to know you’ll do a way better job than the good Doctor ever did.”

Again with the fucking Doctor. But ignoring Saphira’s own inability to put him behind her, there was something about what Charlotte said which still bothered her. Wasn’t Saphira able to be motherly?

For the better half of her life Saphira’s main love language was violence directed towards The Enemy. If she killed anyone who tried to hurt her sisters then they would feel safe and loved. When she ran out of enemies to kill then she would feel safe and loved. Honestly now that Saphira had the introspection skills to put her previous philosophy into words, it was totally insane. Saphira now realised how mad she once was, and as she sorted the kitchen knives into their drawers, she actually felt relieved that she never used one of them to end Sigmund. It’s possible that killing him would have scarred her so permanently that she would never be able to heal.

Now that Saphira knew that killing people wasn’t a healthy way to express love, she needed to find some other way. Her sister Laura was quite adept at this. Laura had so many different little ways with her words and actions to make others feel better. Saphira decided that learning to cook was a good practical way to start. If she could always make a good meal then in that sense people would trust her and depend on her.

Only issue is that she sucks at it.

After Charlotte had teased her about the whole cooking thing, Decibel had actually said something really sweet to her:

“...Saphira might need to practise some skills like cooking and organising herself, but she already has the caring heart needed to be considered ‘motherly’. That’s the most important part, the rest will come with time.”

That was the first thing Decibel had said in hours. Charlotte was left speechless. Saphira found it both mortifying and gratifying to hear.

So Saphira decided that she would make rashers and sausages for Laura and Charlotte to enjoy when they got up. She put them in the griller and waited, enjoying the smell and the sizzling sounds. 

She checked them. The colour had definitely changed, but were they hot enough? She didn’t want to risk serving them raw. Just leave them a little longer.

A ‘little longer’ turned into ten minutes of her scrolling through funny dragon type videos on her phone. She didn’t look up until she smelled smoke. “...Oh crap.” She flipped up the lid and saw that of the three rashers and three sausages, maybe two rashers were still edible albeit with a crispy flavour. She turned off the griller and put all of it onto a plate. After examining the meat she found that large parts of it weren’t burnt. 

She sliced up the sausages and in the end there were two plates with unevenly sized chunks of meat that were black around the edges, but tasty. At least that’s what she thought from her singular bite.

Charlotte and Laura had come down stairs. “Oooh boy, did you enter the kitchen again?” Charlotte was wearing a vest and shorts this morning. “Well of course I did, we’re both in the kitchen right now.”

“Uh huh.”

“I made breakfast for you and Laura.” Saphira tried to match Charlotte’s apparent nonchalance.

“I can see that.” Charlotte walked around her and took out a bowl to get some cereal.

“Thank you for making food Saphira, it was very considerate of you.” Laura gave Saphira this little pat on the shoulder and ate a sausage which had been cut at some weird seventy two degrees angle.

“It’s not bad.” Laura was wearing a very soft long sleeved pyjama top and similar pyjama bottoms.

“Woah, really?!” Charlotte looked up from her bowl of cheerios.”Saph, your food went from ‘room for improvement’ to ‘not bad’. That’s momentous!” She proclaimed in mock awe.

“...It’s okay guys. Neither of you need to eat my stuff if you don’t want to.” Even if Saphira really wished she could do things to make them happy, it’s no good expecting them to pretend to like it. She didn’t want to be some nuisance to them.

“Wait, Saph. I’m sorry.” Charlotte had caught the sadness in her voice.

“What for?” Saphira had sat down at the other side of the table and ate some of the meat meant for Charlotte. It wasn’t that good.

“For being mean, I guess. I act a certain way to be funny or cool or something, it’s just how I am most of the time. I’ll work on it.”

“No, Charlotte. It’s fine. Really I’m fine.” Saphira’s idea of feeling ‘fine’ is warped due to her circumstances.

“Saphira.” Laura said. “We’re very proud of you and we love you. You’ve grown a lot and changed for the better in a very short amount of time, but you need to realise that you don’t have anything to prove. You don’t need to be the ‘provider’ or ‘protector’ just to be a good sister. You’re enough as you are, just do your best and take care of yourself. Please.”

“...What she said.” Charlotte added.

“J-jeez. I really don’t know what to say to that. Honestly I feel like I could practise cooking for another decade and I’d still be really bad at it.”

“Just do your best Saphira. That’s all you need to do.” Laura insisted.

“I’m with her on that, I think you’re the coolest person I know Saphira. I’m glad you're my sister.” Charlotte and Laura had somehow realised exactly what Saphira needed at this moment. She loved them.

“Yeah. I’ll just do my best then.”

And that's the story. I meant to make it short and funny but the more I thought about it the more I wanted to make it introspective and emotional. These requests have so far only been answered with short stories, with this being the second request I've taken, but depending on the ideas I get for the character requested I could do either. The previous request, the first one, was about Ace Featherstone. I know you might enjoy that one @gree-gon and also feel free to request a different character whenever you like. There's no limit on the amount of requests I can take from one person, just keep in mind that I won't always fufill them quickly or to a super high standard. The requests are more of a way for me to get prompts from people about ideas for what I should create. The inbox is empty so anyone can make the next request whenever, and obviously it doesn't cost you any money.

The Bear's legacy

The series finale has already been announced

I still think Sydcarmy will be endgame, of course. But most importantly, I also think that all Carmy said in this scene in regards to HIS LEGACY (because that's what he was talking about, not just legacy in general but his own based on what he learned from the legends that taught him well) is the clearest foreshadowing of what Storer has in mind to wrap The Bear up.

I say all of this now because I believe S4 will be the last one and after this S3 we were just served my mind keeps wandering to: HOW CAN WE GET OUT OF HERE?!?! HOW WILL STORER GET US OUT OF THIS. HOW WILL HE CLOSE THE OPEN LOOP HE LEFT US STUCK AT IN THE SEASON FINALE:

I already went over my idea of how the endgame for the entire series may look like here, before watching S3. But that was just an assumption (yet fully compatible with what I will elaborate on below).

What I think will happen in whatever way Storer wants to go about it is that even though The Bear, the restaurant will not go under, at least not as a result of this bad review:

Eventually, it might close its doors like Ever did (after getting 1 or more stars for Sydney), so Carmy can live and escape the prison of his own design that Richie mentioned:

Now, I'm prepared to make a formal prediction based on the script presented in ep 03x07 → Legacy, which I cross-referenced with LWTH.

And the parallelisms, which would take a way longer post than what I have time to make right now, all point in this direction:

The team will spread around the world/country to open their own restaurants/bakeries, etc. - This happens either in the post The Bear era or even if The Bear remains open.

Or in other words, like Storer Carmy said:

This will be the case for each member of the family:

And because the show is about "found family", they still find a way to remain together, even if at some point they go their separate ways to carry on with The Bear's legacy elsewhere as Carmy foreshadowed and just like Carmy carried on with Michael's at some point, which was the kickstart of the whole series.

Thus, it will be a full circle.

IMO, and this is unrelated to the book, The Bear will close its door eventually or change its name and Sydney will open her dream spot, maybe where The Bear once was or elsewhere. Carmy will change careers and will crossover into other arts, such as painting. Let's not forget that he's already an artist of the culinary arts, so it will not be too much of a stretch. He seemed to have found his peace once in Copenhagen doing this and he keeps coming back to it, even now, as he hits rock bottom, he keeps turning to this type of art to try and cope:

He never seems to drift too far away from it.

I think this is where he's headed post The Bear. Back to his solace (which will include Syd too).

And this is what comes to mind → an Austenian happy ending for the entire family that was foreshadowed in 03x07 "Legacy".

The ending will be all about carrying on with Carmy's legacy or better yet, "Sydcarmy's Legacy", one way or the other. Kinda like this fic narrates here.

And I can't wait.

Bonus track: I hope they leave the door open to continue telling this story on the big screen, which if you didn't cheat and carefully read the Found Family context post I linked at the beginning, you now know was Storer's original idea for The Bear. This, unlike all I mentioned above, is indeed a stretch. But... a girl can dream.
