Bookmarks: More Useful Than You Think (FireFox Edition)
RSS feeds are great, but more often than not I don't really want to subscribe to a website, just save the link. This is where bookmarks come in. You're probably already using them for some things, but I tend to see bookmarks treated as messy and impractical.
This is only as true as you make it! There are really great built in tools that allow bookmarks to be organized and easy to access. Better yet, they don't impact performance! You can have a ridiculous amount of bookmarks. This is basic stuff, but I've seen a lot of people not know it's there so:
If your bookmarks look like a digital landfill and you want them to look like this ⬇
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You're probably used to navigating bookmarks like this, or directly from your toolbar. It works, but it's annoying.
There's a whole bookmarks sidebar built into FireFox for a cleaner, more useful interface!
Tumblr media
This guy! Opens and closes with the click of an icon. If you don't already have it, add it like this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just drag it wherever you want it on your toolbar. (And change anything else you want while you're in there.)
Now that you can open the sidebar, you can start organizing your bookmarks however you like. It's as easy as managing files on your computer. Right click for new folder then drag and drop bb.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Folder before and after organizing. Took about 30 seconds.
If the sidebar isn't ~advanced~ enough for you, you'll be pleased to know there's a whole other UI you can access for even easier editing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
0o0 !! love this thing. You'll notice the bookmark I highlighted has a vague ass title. Directory of what? You can quickly edit titles and tags here to make them easier to navigate. The name and the url are separate, so you can title them however you want. You can also export(backup) bookmarks to an html or json file that you store locally. Something you should do every once in a while just in case. It means you can also share these with other people, or transfer between different browsers.
Tumblr media
You can also edit bookmarks on the fly by just right clicking them.
Why complain about the lack of resources on the internet when you can start hoarding them in a clean and orderly fashion?

Ascension ending
Transcript:
Monk: I miss you, Survivor…
Survivor: Monk?
Monk: Survivor?
Survivor: Monk? Something’s happening to me. I don’t feel the same.
Survivor: There were symbols and shadows. A bitter dust filled the air. It crept through my nose and sank down my throat.
Monk: Survivor, where are you?
Survivor: I don’t know anymore. I’m starting to forget.
Monk: What are you forgetting?
Survivor: Everything.
Survivor: I think it’s time you forgot, too. Let me go, and live your life. Turn back. Don’t look. It isn’t safe.
Monk: I’ll never forget you!

Anyone else thinking about how qPhilza essentially said that he thinks that death on Quesadilla Island is defined by its impermanence?
Because I still am, and it’s such an interesting thread to follow guys! Especially since when he was talking to Chayanne about it, he was referencing both the adult residents of the island and the dead eggs.
For the adults, we know they have respawn mechanics that can often render death down to an annoyance or even a joke. Then, there are the dead eggs, who can apparently still communicate and have conversations as ghosts despite being fully dead. From this, it is CLEAR that death is not actually the end for anyone who lives on this island. They can choose to be present regardless.
(Plus, we know that the Federation ultimately has control over the eggs’ lives. They have 100% been able to return them in some ways in the past like with Bobby’s final goodbye).
SO YEAH! Those examples of death were in qPhilza’s mind when he asked ‘what even is dead’ on the island? And that is fascinating because it’s genuinely so different from what he knew!!!
During his talk with Chayanne, Phil took the opportunity to explain the nature of the Death that he knows and is most is familiar with. It’s a Death that is permanent. He even addressed it as /real/ and distinguished it from that of the island.
Just the way he speaks about it really conveys the permanence and deep significance that Death held in the world he comes. It is a fundamental difference which highlights a distinction between Philza’s past and the reality he’s now living on Quesadilla Island.
For me, this also so clearly explains why he reacts to deaths on the island the way he does!!
At this point, he’s been on Quesadilla island so long that he has become very desensitized to the deaths of his fellow adults. To him, their deaths are nothing /permanent/ because that’s not how Death on the island works. Unlike where he’s from, he holds a confidence that any of his friends can come back with enough action.
HOWEVER even if he’s accepted this to be true for his friends, he can’t shake his own instincts. As much as he wants to think death is something safer here, he’s still from a world where Death is something entirely different. QPhilza is a deeply anxious and paranoid man who will probably never quite trust the idea that dying is okay. He might be connected to Death, but he is still a survivalist.
I think that QPhilza is a man who has felt true Death once before, and he will do everything in his power to avoid a repeat.

As part of a two-part reverse bang-bang, here's some more Valentines art to which @probablytoooldforthis wrote an amazing fic, Sweets for the Sweet! Please go check it out, I promise you won't regret it, and keep your eyes peeled for the second chapter - and artwork, of course - coming out on White Day aka the 14th of March!
Also, I this is an unrendered version, the finished version will be posted within about a week's time (hopefully) since I don't have access to digital drawing at the moment YuY

They call me the concepterrrrr… some scrap design stuff so I have a fluid basis for all designs going forward.. but most importantly so i could draw some concepts for a twisted design. Mostly focused on the face and tail but yknow! Twisted design + notes below!
General horror warning ahead! Careful
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
- like most twisteds, the ichor tries to make them more realistic and grounded in reality, so her twisted variant is pretty boney
- the scribbled on and smudged face was a desperate attempt of a twisting scraps to hide their transformation. These smudged faces are never the same and some are almost completely smudged off. Many toons are warned to not trust scraps on any floors, as her smudged almost Toony face can trick unsuspecting toons into her claws. If you go down with a scraps, it’s recommended to come up with signals both audible and not to make sure it’s not the twisted
- the ichor forms what the ichor wants, and the tail is a result of a scraps desperate internal pleads to not be alone. The tail has a mind of its own and exhibits snake like behaviors
- real mouth cannot open, so if she tears into you it’s via her tail or her claws.
- tends to walk on two legs, but when pursuing a toon she partially gets on all fours to chase after them after her tail attempts to grab a hold of them.
- head can turn a full 360, but not without a sickening crunch
+ much more but you’ll have to be looking at my brightney blog for more on this.. wink wink nudge nudge ;)

Rogues in fantasy TTRPGs that aren't Dungeons & Dragons
Tumblr media
Sometimes it's called Rogue, sometimes it's called Thief. It can be a class, or a template, or a sample build for a classless system. It can be pigeonholed to a couple of roles and specialties, or wide open to interpretations and extensive customisation.
But any self-respecting fantasy game, chock-full as it may be with mighty warriors and powerful wizards, needs a disreputable little shit: the rogue, the thief, the scoundrel, the one who strays. And it's a truly universal archetype. The people in the margins are the salt of the earth, and a setting without them is just… unseasoned.
"The thief gives us a chance to play someone closer to heart, someone who's not strong or possessed of magical talents, someone who has to rely on wit and stealth to survive. Someone, we can imagine, who might very well be just like us. And in being more like us, it's clear that the thief is not just a column of percentile chances to pick locks and disarm traps; she is blessed with as many different skills and appearances as there are crimes to be committed. And that's quite a lot." [x]
So here's a sneak peek at the Thief/Rogue in:
Shadowdark (2023) - gridmark and rules-light dungeoncrawl
Tales of the Valiant (2024) - a D&D 5e variant
Rolemaster Unified (2022) - famously crunchy and customisable
GURPS 4e Dungeon Fantasy (2007) - classic classless system
Ars Magica 5th Edition (2004) - the historically grounded one (in Europe 1200 AD), very customisable
Four Against Darkness (2017) - solo dungeoncrawl
Blades in the Dark (2017) - where everyone's a rogue!
Pathfinder 2e (2024) - a million rules and it's all 3.5's fault
Lankhmar: City of Thieves (2015) - the Fafhrd and Gray Mouser setting, with the Savage Worlds system
