Scrap management update: crochet scrap basket is coming along!
My dad unfortunately pointed out that since this basket will be going back in my room using up scraps is not taking them out of my room and is actually putting them in a form that makes them take up more space, which is unfortunate lol

Hooking rugs that look like dogs
Here's how I do it:
Tumblr media
The process I use is called rug hooking (not latch hook or punch needle or tufting, though it is the forerunner of the latter two techniques). Rugs are hooked by pulling loops of fabric strips or yarn through the holes of a base fabric with a coarse open weave, like burlap, or linen, or rug warp. The loops are pulled through the fabric with a squat-handled hook whose business end is shaped like a crochet hook.  There are no knots and the loops aren't sewed down in any way.  The whole thing stays put just by the tension of all those loops packed together in the weave of the foundation fabric.
This isn't a true detailed tutorial but a walk-through of my particular process. The same information is on my web page, emilyoleary.com .
I hook with yarn, rather than with cut strips of wool fabric, which is what many rug hookers use.  I can get a looser, more organic distribution of loops with yarn than I could with wool strips, which are hooked in neat lines.
Tumblr media
Mostly I use wool yarn. In terms of yarn weight, I can use DK, worsted, or Aran.  If I'm using thicker yarn, I leave more holes un-hooked; if I'm using finer yarn, I hook more densely or double up lengths of it.  I particularly like using single ply yarns (like Brown Sheep Lamb's Pride or Malabrigo Worsted).  I don't keep count, but I think I usually use around two dozen types and colors of yarn per dog.
This is my yarn wall in my apartment. Mostly brown and gray yarn!
Tumblr media
I start from a small drawing in my sketchbook, then I head to FedEx office to use a copy machine, blowing up the drawing repeatedly and experimenting with how big the dog rug should be.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After transferring the image onto my linen, I immediately go over it with Sharpie, because the Saral is really difficult to see and really easy to rub off.
Tumblr media
The rug is held taut by a PVC quilting frame that I set on my lap.
Tumblr media
I push my hook down through the fabric with my right hand and my left hand stays below the fabric and guides the yarn while I pull it up and through with the hook. Not every hole in the fabric is hooked. Hooking every hole would make the rug too dense. I do hook pretty densely, though-- If you pick up one of my rugs you’ll see they have a slight curl to them, which is because they’re hooked pretty tight. I'm using all different weights and types of yarn, so it's a challenge to keep the overall tension even.
Tumblr media
I hook my loops at varying heights to create a very low relief. Sometimes I trim the loops to make them fluffier or wispier or to shape a particular part. I look at a reference photo while I work and pull out and redo sections a lot.
My q-snap frame can accommodate the growing dog rug. I have extenders to make it bigger and I can clamp around my hooking.
Tumblr media
The back of a rug looks like lines of little stitches. The lines are little worm trails snaking around because lines of hooking are not supposed to cross over each other. It's important to start a new length of yarn rather than cross over a stitch you already made! I read this when I first started and took it to heart. It makes it much easier to undo and redo hooking if you have to (and I redo sections A Lot). It also keeps the back from getting too bulky and resulting in uneven wear on the back of a functional rug that gets floor use.
Tumblr media
When I’m done hooking everything I turn the rug over and brush watered-down Sobo glue on the edges of the dog, making sure to get one or two of the outermost lines of hooking. I do a couple coats of this thinned out glue. I'm careful not to use so much that it seeps to the front of the rug. When the glue is dry I cut the rug out, but I don't cut so close that the loops don't have any linen to keep them in.
Tumblr media
It generally takes me at least several months to finish one dog rug. My hooking frame and yarn bag are very portable (though bulky) so I can hook out and about at coffee shops or the library or a brewery if there's enough space and light.
Hooking in the wild makes me an ambassador for making things in general and rug hooking in particular. I answer people's questions and always emphasize how relatively easy it is to get started hooking. Sometimes I get anxious that other people will hook rugs that look like mine but better, but I think that working in a traditional medium means you should share your knowledge for the good of the craft.

anyways.......pillow humping (& object insertion) w/ tommy....
Tumblr media
because I love the "good christian boy who's feral but not allowed to jack off" trope, Tommy teaching the sweetheart that Hoyt brought home for him how to grind on his pillow to get off. he insists through gestures you can't do anything dirty or touchy together cause momma says you'll go to hell if you do that, so pillow humping it is. it's the only way he's ever discovered on his own to get some kind of relief and he's glad to show you. ecstatic, really. he should probably change out his pillow case cause it's rank and it's got sweat stains and god knows what else on it, but....it makes him feel hotter knowing you're riding the same pillow he uses when he's pent up and dying for some kind of friction.
Tommy watches you after you've stripped off your lower half and sat up on his pillow, straddling it, your pretty little clit peeking out from the folds of his dark, dirty pillowcase. your shy, soft eyes as you try to get him to look away, trembling as you start clumsily brushing your folds back and forth against the fabric. it's already soaked within a minute or two and Tommy's in heaven. he's not just gonna inhale it when you're done, he's gonna hold that pillow to his crotch and spill all over it while he imagines spilling into you.
at some point he realizes you're not gonna be able to get off like this--you're too gentle--so he has to grab you by the waist and grind your hips down by force. making you really feel the friction that's gonna get you there. he hasn't got experience with women but he can tell it's working better when you start making those soft noises, when you jerk against his grip but you're too delicate and can't break out of it to run away from the pleasure. he can tell cause he's done it a hundred times himself and he knows what it feels like to cum from nothing but cotton and fabric pulling against your needy sex, dragging down wet flesh and slick until it becomes too much.
you're so cute when you run away. tugging and slapping at his hands to let you go when you weren't before, cause you're gonna cum and he knows you're gonna cum but it's coming too rough and it's gonna ruin you--your legs keep shaking and your hips won't stop bucking, mindlessly chasing more pleasure even though your dumb little brain wants you to stop and see sense. you just have to let it go. just let him push you down on the pillow like a doll, cause he knows you're gonna like it in the end. you need it. it's okay. it's not against the rules, you can do it, he's watching.
but it's more of a problem when the cord inside you snaps and you keel over like you're in prayer, hunched forward and gripping him with nails digging into his skin while the pleasure swarms over you. eyes rolling back and your head going blank--you didn't need any thoughts in there anyways--gasping and trying not to scream out cause momma would kill you if she found out what you two were doing under her roof. Tommy clumsily shushing you while still trying to see, lifting you up like your weight is nothing to him so he can watch your parts spasm and drool all over. he wants to touch it so bad but he knows he can't, he just has to make do with watching and committing those twitches to memory as your body bears down around nothing. if he could just put his fingers up there....and what would it taste like?
part of him really wants to sit you on his lap, on his meaty thigh, and have you do the same thing over his pants. but he knows he wouldn't be able to handle it and he'd go over the edge, cum in his pants and then make you feel it on his fingers when he smears it inside you. but if he can't be inside you yet...he could always find other stuff to do it. it might scare you a bit but he needs to know how you'd react.
the end of a hairbrush, the handle of a knife, a tube of lipstick momma bought you, a crochet hook turned around.....anything and everything he can find. once he's coaxed you into the butterknife handle, he gets the idea and wants you to "bless" all of his butchery tools for good luck. picks them out one by one, (thoroughly cleaned, of course, only the best for you) and slowly eases them into you, doesn't stop until you've ridden the thick handle enough to cream all over it and then it's lucky. he takes it day by day--every day is a new tool, a new object he can use to get you off and explore that sensitive area of you where his cock isn't allowed to go yet. it makes him so eager and nervous to do it for real when the time finally comes around....but won't it be so special, though? cause he'll know you so well by then, all you'll be able to do is cry and moan his name as he takes you to the brink over, and over, and over again.

I found fibrecraft tumblr after searching drop spindles because my dad *didn’t even know what that was.* And despite having been firmly of the opinion that I didn’t intend to learn it, y’all have me getting ever closer to giving in. However, I’m also growing ever more enamored with the idea of weaving - and despite recently deciding to give knitting and crochet another go - I think it looks the most fun of the fiber crafts. My issue is that I have absolutely no space.
But I’m beginning to realize there’s a lot of different looms and types of weaving. So I was wondering if you have any resources or tips for small space methods and storage?
welcome to fibrecraft tumblr! it's fun here, we have enablers.
i will admit that while i love knitting, weaving is amazing, and is much better with regards to instant gratification—weaving for an hour gets you a lot more fabric than knitting for an hour.
so let's talk about weaving, because i have great news for you: you can 100% totally weave in a small space if you want to, and you even have options for how you do it. i'm going to go through basically all the small space weaving options that i'm aware of in roughly size order, and if you make it to the bottom of this you'll have a pretty good overview of space-saving weaving methods.
the first question to ask yourself is what you want to weave. maybe you're not sure yet, which is totally fine. if you don't immediately have strong feelings about it, though, maybe consider if band weaving strikes your fancy. this is pretty limited in size, but lets you weave belts, straps (like camera or bag straps), lanyards, etc.
if you think that sounds neat, it's worth looking into tablet weaving, an inkle loom, or a band/tape loom. tablet weaving takes up no space at all—if you can fit a stack of index cards into your life, you can fit tablet weaving. the tablets are small square cards, often made out of heavy cardstock, and even with a project on them, you can probably fit them into an index card holder.
inkle looms are larger, and to be honest i've never used one and don't know a ton about them, but they're also used for making woven bands. the looms can also be very aesthetically pleasing, if that's something you're into. they can be very big, but the ashford inklette, for example, is only 36 cm long and maybe 12 cm wide.
tape looms are—in my experience, anyhow—larger than tablet weaving but smaller than inkle looms, and even the larger ones are only about shoebox size. they vary widely, from gorgeous, complicated little looms to a handheld paddle that you use to create a shed, which is what you put your yarn through when you're weaving.
if that doesn't sound like good times, consider a frame loom. these are pretty simple—if you ever wove potholders out of stretchy cloth strips as a kid, you probably used a frame loom to do it on. frame looms are generally inexpensive and readily available, and can be used for small woven objects like potholders, coasters, placemats, etc. they can also be used to make some truly stunning tapestries. while you can buy a huge frame loom, you're still only talking about huge in two directions—it might be as wide as your armspan, but it's still only a couple inches thick.
another option is a pin loom. these don't get mentioned a lot, and i'm not totally sure why. pin looms are shapes with a bunch of pins (metal points, usually) coming out of them. on one hand, you're limited to making things that are the shape of the loom, but on the other hand, if you've been hanging around fibrecraft tumblr, you've seen all the things crocheters get up to with granny squares, right? there's no reason in the world that you can't do all those things with the squares made on a pin loom. or the hexagons! or the triangles! i've been kinda thinking about getting a little hexagon or triangle pin loom and using it to sample my handspun, then turning the shapes into a blanket.
if you hate all of that, that's ok! we have more options.
you could consider a backstrap loom, which is an ancient way of weaving that's still practiced today in many places. backstrap looms are cool because you can weave probably 24 inches wide on them, but even with a project on it, they take almost no room at all. backstrap looms are fairly easy to diy, because they're basically a bunch of dowels, so they can be a good low-cost way to try out weaving. backstrap looms will let you make longer, wider fabric than anything else we've mentioned so far!
another option—stay with me—is a toy loom. there are a number of cheap looms for sale on amazon/ali express/some local places that are actually fully functional looms. recently i've seen a number of people (like sally pointer, though i'm sure i've seen someone using one of the brightly coloured harness looms, as well) who've used them and report that they're functional, if basic, looms. you're fairly constrained in terms of project size, since there's not a lot of space for the finished fabric to wind on, and there's a very limited width, but the looms are quite small and tuck away easily.
ok, but so what if you hate all of those options? don't worry—there are more options! this is the part where things get expensive, though.
as looms go, rigid heddle looms are actually quite reasonably sized. i think the smallest one i've seen is a 40cm (~16") weaving width, which is about 50x60 (20x24") in length/width, and 13cm (5") high. so that's more space than anything else we've talked about, but it's still not a ton of space, you know? a 40cm rigid heddle will let you weave lovely scarves and things of that nature—table runners, placemats, strips of woven fabric to whipstitch together into a blanket, etc.
but maybe that's enough. so let's talk about table looms. some of them are quite large—mine, for example, is about a metre square and sits on a frame that it came with. it is not what you would call space efficient. but many of them, especially modern ones, are very compact, and can even be folded up into something more or less briefcase sized. (weird way to consider it, since the last time i saw a briefcase was probably the 80s, but you know what i mean, i bet.) the cool part here is that you can weave damn near anything you want on a table loom. the less cool part is that for the compact ones that fold up, you're looking at hundreds if not thousands of dollars. the smallest one i'm aware of is the louët erica, which folds down to 42x62x42cm (16.5x24.5x16.5") and gives you 40cm (16") of weaving width. i feel like that's impressively small. you'd have to decide for yourself if that's enough to justify the $500 usd/$800 aud price tag, though.
finally, we've come to folding floor looms. i don't think someone who's never woven before should run out and buy one of these unless money is just literally not at all a concern for you, but they are basically the dream for those of us trapped in crappy rentals, and it seemed weird to leave them out when i'd come this far.
some floor looms are various levels of collapsible. to be clear, this does you absolutely no good at all when you're actively weaving, because you have to unfold them to weave, but it does you a lot of good if you'd like to have a floor loom and still have the ability to, say, walk through the living room when you're not actively using the loom.
most relevant to our discussion about small weaving footprints, some looms fold up entirely. they are incredibly fucking expensive and incredibly fucking cool. the two that i'm most aware of are the leclerc compact and the schacht wolf line, both of which fold up to about half of their unfolded depth. they're still not small—i think that they're both the better part of 75cm (30") wide and tall, so even if they fold down to 40cm (16") deep, they're still 75cm wide and tall. which is Fairly Large, though much better than having something 80cm deep sitting in the middle of the floor.
this was a very, very long post, but hopefully makes it clear that there's a surprisingly wide range of options, and they all have advantages and trade offs. if you're asking my opinion, my suggestion would be to try something—anything—with a backstrap setup and see how you feel about it. maybe you love it and keep at it forever, in which case you're in good company: there are entire cultures that weave exclusively on backstrap looms.
if you like producing cloth but don't love the backstrap setup, or don't like using your body to tension the warp, you have a lot of other options, and you're out maybe ten dollars of dowels.
personally, my next loom is probably going to be a pin loom. unless i win lotto, in which case it's going to be a house that has a weaving studio and like four floor looms in it. but probably a pin loom.

May I request something for fluff Friday?
Because it’s December! And it’s cold I was thinking maybe the reader teaching Hobie how to crochet? because I crochet and I think it would be cute if reader and Hobie made scarfs, gloves and beanies for the winter!
Tumblr media
AHHHHHHH S'CUTE!! Thank you both for requesting. I hope you two don't mind me combining them since they're both similar. Have a happy holiday, lovelies!
Pairing: Hobie Brown x fem! Reader/ Spider-Punk x fem! Reader
Tags: no use of Y/N, no specific physical description of the reader, they have an army of cats and a symbiote cat. Symbiote cat au, Lovestruck! Hobie, FLUFF
ʕ·ᴥ·ʔ
“And then you loop it around, and tada! You've made yourself a tiny scarf!” You let Hobie's hands go from when you were guiding his long fingers to finish his bright red and black scarf. He already laments the absence of your touch. “One down twenty more to go.”
Hobie turns to his side to face you fully, your smile blinds him for a second, he doesn't blame himself for what he does next.
“Thank you, lovie” he cups your face with urgency before the army of cats, especially the little devil spawn, gets wind of your little alone time in your shared bedroom. Peppering your face with hundreds of kisses, he makes sure no space of your skin is left unkissed.
Your giggles must've awoken the beasts because you hear soft mewls behind the door. The meowing turns into screaming then into panicked scratching.
“I think they've figured us out” you say in between laughs, good thing you're holding his shoulders or else you would've fallen off the bed from his barrage of wet kisses.
“They can't keep us apart!” Hobie's kisses hasten as you hear something slither under the door.
A black blob appears like a puddle, that puddle slowly solidifies into the most horrific thing ever: a cat. An alien cat that is unfathomably jealous of Hobie right now.
Symbiote cat or you so lovingly named, Blob, short for Blobius Cornelius Blobirington, who is currently hissing his way towards your intertwined forms. The village of cats outside continue to try and screech their way inside the bedroom.
“Bloby, no!” You yell frantically as the alien cat unhinges his jaw to open his maw, white pointy pearly whites greet Hobie as you try to stop Blob from eating your boyfriend.
Hobie puts himself in between you and the symbiote, “Try it! Let's see if you can even digest me”
“Hobie, don't rile him up! Here, baby!” You toss a ball of yarn as a last resort, which thankfully catches the alien’s attention.
Blobius Cornelius Blobirington follows the ball of yarn, the black spikes on his back smoothes out as he plays with the yarn.
“He started it.” Hobie narrows his eyes at the creature. Blob hisses back a response, baring all his teeth.
“Let's all calm down, please?” With your sweet words, both parties visibly calm down. Hobie relaxes his shoulders, while Blob returns to his ball of yarn. “We're all good?” You pause, eyes flitting from Hobie to the little symbiote who keeps an eye open for any more face attacking from Hobie. “Good, cat's out of the bag, I'm gonna open the door and show them their gift”
“We’re not done yet with the scarves though?”
“Oh, we'll continue that, maybe tonight?” You lower your voice, “okay?” Quickly smooching Hobie’s lips, he agrees with a knowing nod.
“Alright, but I'm putting down a door sealing strip so he doesn't interrupt”
You laugh, giving him one last kiss on his forehead as you stand up to collect the cats’ humongous gift. Hobie tries to grab your hand but Blob sees through his plans, he abandons the toy to stretch himself towards the bed, taking your spot with a large Cheshire grin.
“You little shit”
“I've got it!” their staring contest gets interrupted by your excited voice. “Can you open the door for me please?” Your sentence is muffled by the large knitted fabric in your hands.
Hobie opens the door with his web shooters and out goes a tsunami of cats, a blur of orange, black, brown and white furs stumble through the open door. Hobie jumps up from the bed, scooping an armful of cats in his arms. Meows of varying degrees of tone echoes out in the room while Blob sits comfortably and unbothered on your bed.
“Hello, yes, I know, sorry!” you weave through the crowd gathering at your feet. “Are you all ready for your present?”
Unfurling the fabric, you drape it on the floor while cats gather around it to either catch it mid air or to lay on the floor to let it flop on top of them. The cats play on the blanket, some avoid it, still apprehensive.
The colourful flower pattern catches Hobie's eye, he whistles out. “Bloody ‘ell, love. Did you make this on your own?”
“Yep! Took me half a year to finish. Do you like it?”
“It's fuckin' gorgeous! C’mere” Hobie raises his arms and out pours the cats who quickly land on their feet.
You carefully make your way towards him. You embrace him, his arms enveloping you in a tight hug. It's all part of your plan though, with one quick movement, you put the beanie on top of his head, he makes a sound from the back of his throat in surprise. With how speedy you put it on him, the beanie covered his eyes too.
“Whoops!” You laugh, carefully unfolding the hat to uncover his eyes. “There you are” beaming at him, you cup his jaw to lovingly rub at his growing stubble. “Now your head won't get cold on patrols. Does it fit okay?”
“Like a glove” he's all heart eyes, his hands staying on your waist. “Thank you”
“You're welcome,” you place a quick affectionate kiss on the corner of his lips “There's more by the way”
“Snogging or presents? ‘m good with either”
“Both” you say against his lips, before you meet though, you hear Blob hissing while climbing up Hobie's leg.
“Fuck! How?!” He yelps, thinking his spider senses have gone haywire under all the sickenly sweet fog of your kiss.
“Perfect, I've got something for you too!” taking the tiny beanie from your pajama pocket, you place it on the symbiote’s head, avoiding his sharp teeth. “Cute! Now you're matching!”
You take a step back to admire them both in their matching beanies. Grinning happily at your handiwork. Hobie glares at Blob who's still climbing up his leg with a sneer.

Circles of Heaven
Circles of Heaven, Eustace Selden, 1998
Circles of Heaven (CoH) started off as a hard rebound against the Satanic Panic - by an evangelical kid. The goal was to make an RPG that would be considered holy. This... did not happen.
The author did his first writing when he was 14, which beats me by a year. Unlike me, he was raised in... well, a cult. The first version of CoH was about playing angels, but it was also full of proto-quiverfull eschatological heaven-justifies-the-means propaganda. By the time he was 17, his friends had successfully pulled him out of the cult and gotten him living with distant relatives in Tacoma. The author's changing worldview, the evolving music scene, some bootleg anime, and suggestions from the same friends - seriously, this friend group is fantastic - led to a major revision of the game. It was published locally in 1998, printed by a local shop and driven around to game stores and bookstores until they found some that would sell it.
Chargen is mostly random. You pick your Nobility and Corpus. Nobility is your rank, which doesn't let you order each other around but does apply to certain creatures. For example, Archdukes can give orders to insects; a Prince or Princess of Heaven can give orders to mammals (except humans). You get some alliterative skills related to your type of creature - Archdukes get bonuses to Clandestine, Collective, and Contaminate.
Corpus is your body, and I think it's a particularly fun part of the game. Characters in CoH are angels. They're not traditional biblical angels, because the bible is secretly the work of Satan - full of half-truths more dangerous than outright lies. Instead, they're inspired by the weirdest of monsters: adlets, nuckelavee, ouroboros, futakuchi-onna, penanggalan, and a several others. You are both a human being and your monster self at the same time. You can do things that either form could do, or even things that would need both a monster and a human in the same place at the same time, and it doesn't have to make sense to see.
You roll for your Hunt (the kind of people you're here on Earth to help or punish, gives skill bonuses), your Time (the hour each day where you have extra-special powers), your Vision (how you think the world could be made ideal, gives you more skill bonuses), and your Ruling Virtues. Oh, and your attributes. Those are done on a 5-15 scale generated from a d100 table. I did say this game was written in the early 90s.
You also roll for your equipment. Not boring mortal stuff, but for a wide variety of sacred items that you hold in potentia near you and can manifest at need. Shields of fire. Shadow citadels that can hide you overnight. Flocks of stained-glass butterflies that provide cover and distracting fascination. Daybreak, the mace made of pure sunlight. Nullblades that wield themselves and absorb bullets and magic alike. Fatehook, a crochet hook that can re-knot the fabric of the world - slow to use but flexible and devastating.
The system is mediocre. It's basically a heavily-stripped-down Rolemaster, with no critical hits or spell lists. If you can't come up with anything from Rolemaster that isn't the critical hits table, you're not alone. CoH's system sort of slid into my brain and slid right back out without making an impression.
The place the game is really lacking is art. Most of it is from early otaku who loved anime but had never taken an art class. The best of it turned out to be traced from manga. The cover was a black-and-white ouroboros on a white background, which, while still not particularly well-drawn, was at least striking on the shelf.
Eustace eventually moved on. In an interview in 2012 he said that writing the game was a cathartic experience for him, helping him understand where he came from and embrace where he was going. Once it was out, he didn't feel the need to keep writing. I hope he finds a creative spark again some day - I think a shorter version (with better art) would fit well with games like Mörk Borg and Songbirds.

short fanfic? Yes!
Christmas theme? Yes!
“Wake your a**es up losers!” Wind’s voice rang through the ranch, “It’s Christmas!!”
Time rubbed his eyes and gazed at the clock. “4:00am? Seriously Wind?” He groaned and sat up. Even his wife, Malon, the strongest girl he could ever know, was still asleep.
“Wind, let’s settle down. It’s still early you know.” Warriors tried to coax the teen back to bed. Less for Wind but more for the ever waning patience.
“Nah, I want presents.”
“…Of course you do.”
Surprisingly, Four was the first one to open up his present. Beneath the red rapping paper, a beautifully crafted iron hammer, with faint beautiful markings throughout the tool, stood in his possession. “I needed a new one for quite some time… thanks guys!”
“that’s for work?? I thought it’s used to smash pots!”
“LEGEND.”
Wind was next. He basically stripped the present raw in… two seconds flat. “MONEH! I’M RICH!” The pirate yelled.
“But those are seashells?”
“I can sell seashells by the seashore.”
Twilight carefully unwrapped his gift. His fingers curled around a saddle, worn down and scratched on the edges, but filled with love.
“You know, it used to be our old girls,” Malon looked through the window to the barn ahead, “But it’s not much use to us now that she’s settling down, it’ll be much more use to you.”
That is when the couple learned great-great-great-great-great grandsons give the best hugs.
Hyrule gazed at the new pair of boots in his arms. “Woah… these are wonderful. Are you sure they are for me?”
“Knew a shoemaker once, trust me, they’ll make you run faster than ever before.” Four winked.
Hyrule gave at LEAST 20 continuous thank yous for the rest of the evening.
Legend tried to keep a stoic demeanor as he unwrapped his gift. “Romeo and Juliet? Isn’t that romance?”
“Come on, we all know you’re all for it.” Warriors smirked.
“Shut up… but thanks I guess.”
Wild ran his fingers through the embroidery scarf. “This looks stunning, who made this?”
“I did! Skyloft was pretty cold, from being in the sky and stuff, so I decided to pick one of our most famous fabrics. The embroidery was all mine though, and I’m sure it will help keep you warm for the winter months.” Sky smiled kindly.
“Will you fix it if I tear it?”
“Already have 17 backups.”
Warriors, surprisingly clad in actual clothes (not to mention his hair is perfectly brushed? Did he even go to bed?) unwrapped his gift with precision.
“A mirror? You know me so well!” He smiled, knowing the captain, this will sure come to great use.
“That’s not all,” Time smiled, “Crafted straight from the lava of Death Mountain, its sturdy for the road.”
“You really put in that much thought for me?”
“Of course son, you deserve it.”
“Careful, this one’s fragile.” Malon smiled as she handed Sky a gift wrapped in cloth.
Sky carefully unraveled the cloth to reveal a tiny, but familiar bird. He heard its name before. Clucko? No… right! It was a cucco.
“I love it! It’s so cute!”
“We are letting you keep it as long as it doesn’t come in contact with anybody in any way.” Legend grumbled.
“Darling, this one’s for you.” Malon handed Time a carefully wrapped present. Time’s fingers slowly pealed away the wrapping paper, and softness immediately enveloped his finger.
9 crochet squares, all sewn together.
A deception of a forge, intense yet pulling things together.
A vast ocean, and a red boat riding the waves.
A goat, with beautiful horns resembling Ordon.
A map, holding a sense of adventure.
A flower, holding a sort of dream like resemblance.
A sheikah crest, holding symbolism and order.
Swords and shields, crashing together yet have some sense of balance to them.
Islands floating in a vast open sky, with giant loft wings circling around.
In the middle of it all,
Home. The ranch. In the center stood a beautifully crocheted deception of Time and Malon, yet they weren’t the only people in this art. 8 other boys stood around, holding a resemblance of courage.
“Merry Christmas, old man!” The eight boys smiled in unison.
This would be a Christmas Time could never forget.
Yeah this didn’t turn out short LOL

speaking of yarn ive been meaning to ask since ive heard of it elsewhere, is the general quality of yarn you can get going down? ive been looking into fibercraft but ive been told its getting harder and harder to find actual good thread without some sort of plastic in it, especially for a good price. so ive been wondering is this true or was it made out to be a much larger problem than it really is (in your experience)?
i've only been into crochet for a couple of years, so i'm not a Fiber Arts Veteran who can tell you the difference between shopping for supplies now vs 30 years ago! i don't really have anything to compare Current Yarns to. in my experience, the only thing i can speak on is cost, and it seems like the cost for yarn has probably been going up. animal fibers are certainly more expensive, acrylic yarns are budget-friendly but are synthetic, if that's something you're worried abt.
so i don't think that stuff is Untrue, but i also don't think it's any reason at all to avoid getting into fiber arts, and you can absolutely find yarns made from cotton / wool / bamboo fiber and stuff like that for good prices! it would probably be harder in-person, like in the aisles of a hobby lobby. but i think lion brand and lovecrafts are good sites to browse for yarn/supplies. it's really not a small-scale problem, someone like moi who's recently gotten into crochet and does it for funsies based on my whims/needs isn't going to really notice, i don't think. as an aside, if we're talking about crochet specifically, you can really crochet with anything at all- i've been making a tote bag out of plastic grocery bags, lmao. reduce reuse recycle or whatever. people will also use strips of fabric instead of yarn, and that's good for stuff like rugs / bags / baskets, chunkier projects. (though ig you could probably make some clothing if you cut the strips of fabric thin enough.) so as far as accessibility to the craft, there is that!

Another finished basket! Complete with size comparison between the uncrocheted fabric and the basket it turned into
I might add more fabric to make the sides of the basket taller, I haven’t decided yet

Miya&Mia's Tickletober Day 18 - Spiderweb
Asmo x Reader
Tumblr media
A/N: I hope this makes sense dkdkdkkff
Tumblr media
"What do you think, love~❤️?"
You couldn't help but blush when you saw Asmo in front of you. He was wearing a black crochet top. From the front it looked like any other black top, but the sleeves ended before reaching his shoulders and his collarbones looked exquisite, completely exposed. Small strips of fabric passed over his shoulders and got lost behind him, gathering on his back where a beautiful carefully woven spider web could be seen, covering his whole back.
The top hugged Asmo's petite, feminine figure in an incredibly beautiful way, you couldn't take your eyes off his gorgeous body.
Asmo giggled, his own cheeks taking a sweet pink hue. "You look so amazed, dearest!" He teased playfully. "Did you like it that much?"
"Yes," you answered honestly, feeling a little breathless. "You look stunning, Asmo! Did you make it yourself?"
You approached him, standing behind him to see his handiwork. The crochet was simply beautiful, so detailed. You couldn't help but gently follow the pattern with your fingertips.
"I did! It took me a while, but in the end I could m-mahake ihihit- ah, bahaby!" He giggled, his back arching away from your touch. "Cahareful, you know my back is quite ticklish!"
"Shush! Let me see! "Did you even weave small diamonds?" You muttered, touching the sparkling diamonds, making Asmo tremble with laughter.
"It tihihihickles! Don't tohohouch mehehe so lihihihightly!" He shook and squirmed slightly, but ultimately stayed still as you kept admiring his top, however, when your gentle touches reached his lower back, he jumped away and cackled, quickly covering his mouth. "Ehehenohough! I reheheally cahan't tahake it!"
You giggled, nodding softly, "fine, I won't touch it anymore, but it is truly beautiful!"
Asmo giggled, "I'll make one for you, but hey, do you remember that spider you did on my face last year? The one Beel ruined?" He said rolling his eyes and you giggled, nodding softly. "Can you do it again?"
"Let's do it!"

⩇⩇:⩇⩇ | 10 VOICEMAILS
prologue: three winters ago,
back to masterlist | next
CW! | mentions of death and blood, light mentions of suicide
Tumblr media
"If I could choose the memories I wanted to keep, it would be anything but what happened then.
You still remember the day clearly in your head. The crisp sound of fresh snow crunching beneath your snow boots, the cool icy wind biting the tip of your nose and the edges of your earlobe as you snuggle deeper into your scarf for warmth. On the first day of snow, 22 November 2022. The cold was more bitter than before, nearly steeling the soft heart of yours. Tears slipped past your eyelids uncontrollably, quicker than the time taken for the atmospheric temperature to freeze them into snow crystals once they hit the ground. The sight of blood which stained the fresh white snow, the mark leaving a sense of distaste within you as you fall to your knees, sinking into the cold snow as you sob loudly into your thick warm scarf. The one he gave to you a few days ago.
It isn't anything special, really. You had multiple scarves in your possession before this silly hand knitted one he had given to you, certain patches of the stitches being a little out of order. Yet, he insisted you kept this scarf he had given to you, stating that the material of thread he had chosen was one that could keep you warm eternally over the winter season. Better than the other scarves you had. He had claimed as he shoved it into your hands. Back then, you could tell him confidently that you would be warm forever even without the scarf he had given you. Because you knew that his presence was the only source of warmth you needed. But now, with your head spinning. Your breath caught in your throat, coming out choked and suffocated. The words, "I'll be forever warm even without this scarf feels like a heavy weight you can't even spit out from the depths of your throat. He's gone. Daichi's dead. The man who steered you from making irrational decisions. The man who lent you his shoulders every time you needed comfort. The man who made sure you kept a balanced diet in every single meal you took. And also the man who you knew spent dedicated and committed amounts of time crocheted a scarf, even if he barely knew the basics of crocheting, to keep you warm and comfortable. Who knew that this scarf would have been the last gift you would receive of him? You wish you knew sooner. Maybe you would have thanked him more. Told him to not leave for work just yet. Stay a little longer. But you knew you wouldn't have then. In fact, you couldn't. You could've cried, begged and pleaded him to stay but he would've told you firmly, "For the safety of all residents, I would never let a killer suspect run loose for long. I need to go." And you would've let him. For who couldn't say 'no' to actions who brought back world peace and justice? Even if it meant knowing he would've died three winters ago. Three winters ago, you remember seeing the news report about the double murder of Daichi and the infamous serial killer. After that news report, you had to rush yourself to the toilet and retch into the toilet bowl, the queasy feeling in your stomach unable to bear the burden of the news even when you've seen the crime scene in person. Three winters ago, you remembered refusing to hold a funeral for Daichi, knowing you weren't ready to accept his death and send him off to the afterlife. Then, many of your close friends had questioned your decision, asking you to rethink it multiple times as it seemed rude to refuse holding a funeral for the dead. Still, your answer remained the same. Three winters ago, you remember standing limply before the mirror, your hands clutching onto Daichi's police gun firmly as you shakily point it to your own head. The only thoughts running through your mind after seeing the thin white fabric laid over his body as he was wheeled away from the crime scene was thinking everything had been stripped away from yourself then. Your source of joy, peace and comfort. All gone within that one moment. For a moment, being alive without Daichi's presence felt disgusting. It made you feel unworthy of living. But three winters ago, you didn't do it. You didn't pull the trigger. Instead, you had dropped the gun and swore to yourself that until you had found a reason to live, this decision will fall back into your mind. It's been three winters. Three winters without Daichi. It's time to let what happened three winters back go.

Had the enlightening thought that I could use my blog for blogging. I don't love splitting myself into separate marketable entities, so I'll probably post more craft stuff here. (I have a passing knowledge of So many hobbies it's a bit ridiculous- my most developed are probably doll customisation (wigs, faceups etc), sewing tiny clothes and maybe crochet.) I thought I would share some patch process from...2021? (ugh)
I don't know how many of you will have seen on twitter, but I've started making patches for my jacket after being deeply dissatisfied with what I could find online (I find that I need to know & search for a creator specifically or I just get mainstream patches... 'bee happy' etc)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Billie patch (of the painting) was actually me going 'I wonder if posca works on fabric' and I tested it on the smallest scrap, which bit me in the ass, because I did that face with no planning or sketch and it came out perfect, no way I was going to do it that good again. SO i stitched it onto a bigger bit of black fabric, which is surprisingly unnoticeable in the end!
Tumblr media
The rainbow strip was made because I didn't like how clean and manufactured store bought flag patches are, I wanted something undeniably gay, but a little more subtle and personal. I chose the colours to be a bit softer (I'm aware the dark brown should be black, I had no grey to pastel-ify it with, like I did the others) and I've seen little rainbow strip lapel pins before, so I sort of copied that in fabric form.
Tumblr media
The next is Brian Molko in the 'Pure Morning' video, which I watched so much when I was younger. I put a screenshot through a binarization filter, and tried my best to copy it down. It was going really well, and then I foolishly placed it over my photo to see how it lined up (badly) and I went back in and completely ruined the likeness. While it wasn't a good copy, I still think it looked good before I went over it. SO I made another :'). I also sort of fixed up the first, because seeing it on the desk was embarrassing me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I also added the embroidery in the colours I think of when I try and remember the video (his lips particularly were sort of coral coloured and the androgyny struck me hard as a teen)  The Eve Elloree was from an old gay magazine- the art director asking for assistance, I just thought it was really fucking cute haha Way more info on my long ass twitter thread.

The extremely badass black and white one is from superpose! And the fruits wizard is here (because im a fruit, har har)
Hopefully I can make more this year, I have too many hobbies and not enough wrist stamina!

For my birthday this year I finally made this dress wearable again!
I made this dress a couple years ago and accidentally made the elastics at the waist too tight (which made the dress very uncomfortable to wear). I sometimes really dread alterations and keep procrastinating on them for no real reason.
I only removed the elastics from the waist part and haven't added new (less tight) ones yet. The dress is already wearable as is, though I noticed another problem: I didn't have lots of fabric when I made this dress and the patchwork bodice is a bit shorter than usual for this pattern. So now this annoys me and I think about elongating the bodice somehow... sigh... would be a lot of work though!
[id]5 pictures in total.
Picture 1: a group selfie featuring three young white women (including OP). Two of them have brown hair and the third one brightly dyed red hair. OP is in the middle: a fat woman with glasses, wearing her brown hair open with two small decorative braids framing her face. She's wearing a green patchwork dress, mixed with cream coloured fabric with pink roses on it and white fabric with pink/violett hearts and green ornaments on it. The bodice is finished with cream-coloured lace bias binding. She's wearing a flower crown with green vines and white, pink & magenta coloured flowers on it (a birthday present from a friend from some years ago).
Her brown-haired friend is a bit chubby as well, with a short braid. She's wearing a cheerful yellow top with white daisies on it! She's wearing fancy brown macrame style earrings. Unfortunately her beautiful tree necklace made with buttons is not visible in the picture, you can only see the leather string of the necklace.
The third friend is thin and slender, but also sharing something with OP: she's also wearing glasses. She's wearing a pink bow in her red hair, as well as a pink "tattoo style" elastic necklace. She's wearing an off-white crochet shawl lent to her by OP over her white shirt.
The women are all smiling, it's clearly a happy day!
Picture 2: A close-up of the patchwork dress turned inside out. It shows the middle part, made of green gingham with the too-tight elastic still sewn into it.
Picture 3: A close-up of the bodice and waist-part of patchwork dress being worn with the too-tight elastic removed from the waist.
Picture 4:
An almost full body shot of OP: a young fat white woman with glasses and long brown hair. She's wearing most of her hair open and it falls in a wave over her shoulders. Two thin decorative braids frame her face and give her an elven look. One of the braids is tangled with the strap of her sand-coloured crocheted bag in this picture. The bag is decorated with a green bow with a floral pattern on it! She's wearing a flower crown with white, pink and magenta coloured flowers on it, they are made from wire and nailpolish (an old birthday present from a friend of hers). The star of the show is the patchwork dress: made out of green fabric with a gingham pattern (there are darker green patches and lighter green patches), green gingham patches with flowers printed on it, creme coloured patches with pinkish roses on them and green patches with pinkish roses on them. Mixed with it is a white fabric with violet coloured hearts and green ornamental swirls on it and a cream-coloured fabric covered with strips of lace. The lace fabric has also been turned into bias tape for the binding of the neckline and the arm holes of the dress. The dress is decorated with side gores made out of the white fabric with violet coloured hearts on it. The gores are decorated with a thick green lace. Yellow lacy sleeves of a shirt are visible under the bodice of the dress and a amber coloured bracelet can be seen on the left wrist. The woman is standing in front and among some lush greenery (trees and bushes), adding to the elfen look of her outfit.
Picture 5: A full body shot of the above described woman. She's standing on a path next to some hedges and trees. The picture is blurred - like you were trying to take a picture of some otherwordly fae perhaps...?[/id]

Nos. 2, 3, 4 and 5. — Globe in luminous roses. — This model is intended for lighting; it can be hung from trees, in paths, vestibules, from a cornice, from a lamp, wherever it can produce a good effect. The size is of average proportion; However, if we want to enlarge it and make a big lantern, nothing will be easier when manufacturing the carcass, which is made of brass wire covered with tulle or stiff muslin over its entire surface and at one of the ends. — the one at the bottom. — This tulle is constructed with large points on the brass wires. When the preparation is completed, cut rose petals to the sizes given in the interior of the designs. It would even be good to enlarge the given proportions a little and establish them on matching strips of chiffon.
When the strips have been cut, we scratch the strips with sharp teeth; as for the other two strips, the petals must be rolled, then turned over on one side. A single branded strip is enough per rose, but at least two strips of the other two numbers are required. When they are thus prepared, we make a small hook on a rather strong brass wire, we insert it into the margin of the fabric; then, pressing this iron wire between the thumb and the index finger, we turn the first strip around this finger as in the first detail; then part of the rolled strip; we bring the middle finger together, and the band in turn wraps it and wraps around both fingers as in the second detail.
The fabric must be tight from the bottom, going slightly downwards, so that the flowering of the rose is successful. We remove our fingers and at the same time we france the bottom of these strips, so as to attach it well around the stem, as in the third detail. We finish by attaching two long strands of brass which we fix on the circle starting at the top. The roses are close enough to each other so as not to leave any gaps and always in a circle. This work can be done over a glass globe if you wish to adapt it to a lamp or else suspend in the interior of the carcass a small brass wire frame, which will support a narrow glass in which you will put oil and a bright night light.
