Your boyfriend Daichi stopped in his tracks when he saw you sobbing into a tissue on the couch, wrapped practically airtight in a thick fluffy blanket with only the cable from your heating pad sticking out.

On the TV a chubby seal pup was calling its mother that apparently fell prey to an orca just a few seconds earlier.

He sighed and came to stand in front of you, hands on his hips to block the screen.

“What did we say?”

You shrunk into your blanket, looking up at him with big tear-filled eyes.

“No nature documentaries when I’m on my period?”

“Then why are you doing this to yourself? This is gonna be the seahorse thing from last month all over again.”

At the mention of your previous trauma, a new wave of tears rolled down your cheeks.

“It got carried too far in the current! It was all alone!”

“And what did you make me do?”

“Hold my hand in the supermarket so you wouldn’t lose me?”

“And why was that not a good idea?”

You took a deep breath and tried to recount the gentle scolding you received afterward, “Because to safely push a cart you need two hands.”

“And?”

“And I made you swerve into a display of tomato sauce.”

“So in conclusion?”, he raised an expectant brow.

You picked up the remote and turned on a different movie.

“Thank you.”, he said and leaned down to kiss the top of your head, “I ordered take-out for dinner. Now, move over.”

You scooted a bit to the left so he could sit down next to you and pull you into his arms for comfort, large warm hand slipping into the blanket cocoon gently rubbing your soft aching tummy.

Rubbing your temples gently in a circular motion with your fingers, you stare at your lecturer blankly, hearing his voice drone on and on about the upcoming midterm assignment.

"This is very important, it consists of 60% of your total marks within this whole year." He says as you cup a hand over your right cheek, your eyes lazily drifting about the classroom as his words continue to act as background noise.

Perhaps I should be listening to this. After all, it's something I would be graded for. You thought silently as you attempted to seem more attentive, bringing your drooping shoulders upright, straightening up slightly, no longer slumping against your chair.

"This is no easy task I have to admit. But I think that a challenge is what really sets y'all apart from the average and the top."

He continues as your eyes followed the transition to the next slide on his PowerPoint presentation. And there the assignment details are written onto the slide, cramped across the centre of the slide.

Compact Loft Apartments. The screen reads and instantly almost everyone in the room sounds out a collective groan.

With the rise of minimalistic apartments hosting singles, tiny apartments which can barely fit a bathroom and bedroom in neat separate spaces have been trending. More people have turned to be fascinated about the idea of how people work out such tiny spaces in day to day living. Which might also explain why Little John's videos on how to expand small spaces with galvanized square steel has been going viral as well.

And of course, your course module teacher is not an exception. In fact, he is so obsessed with the idea of minimalism that he watches YouTube videos on people exploring Tiny Japanese Apartments. Often fascinated by the different possible designs brought about, he has showed you all various videos on them as well as part of his "teaching".

The idea is quite bizzare for you to comprehend. Tiny apartments could barely host spaces for toilet bowls and showers to be installed in private corners. For instance, you remembered watching on the Japanese man who spent most of his day doing everything in his bathtub from one of those videos shared by her module teacher. If anything, you found living in a tiny apartment almost unfeasible, even for a single person.

"However, I am sure most of you are very familiarised with the concept of tiny loft apartments, hence I will not explain further. That's all for today's lesson, guys."

The teacher's voice snaps you out of your thoughts as you gaze at the screen once again, which has now exited the PowerPoint slideshow. Students are already gathering into groups and discussing about the assignment while packing up.

You heaved a small sigh, your hands scrambling to pack up your items, shoving them into your tote bag hastily. You're thinking about grabbing a ready-to-eat chicken breast from the campus' grocers for a quick bite while you start brain storming for the assignment, when you suddenly feel a vibration coming from your phone.

Who could it be? You wonder silently as you take it out of your pocket, pausing your pack up to check the notifications.

After navigating your route to the yakinku place Bokuto suggested grabbing lunch at, you set down your phone on the table and sit yourself down back into your seat for a bit.

Making mental notes in your head, you stare at the blank projector screen mindlessly for a moment.

The assignment slideshow that was there before had long disappeared, yet the title words ‘Compact Loft Apartments’ still seemed to be there haunting you.

Guess my lunch plans will need a bit of change then. Hopefully I will have time later to brainstorm for the assignment.

As much as you hated the thought of disrupting your brief plans that you made earlier to work on your assignments, you couldn't bear to turn down Bokuto.

Especially not when you have had the feeling of eating lunch all alone without your roommates before… It's a terrible and lonely feeling.

And it would be even more terrible for Bokuto. You think silently to yourself before finally picking yourself back up from your seat and walking out of the classroom.

It's hard to not think about anything else other than the assignment on your way there.

For the first time, you don't feel like pretending the lines on the floor are lava and you can't step on them.

For the first time, you're not admiring the falling tree leaves when the wind blows.

For the first time, you don't stop at a newly bloomed flower and hesitate about whether to take a picture of it.

And for the first time, you nearly miss the front door of a food place, walking past the doorstep just by three steps only to realise you've reached.

Which is weird because you never miss a step when it comes to finding the place you're gonna eat at. Especially when food is almost everything to you.

“Yn!" You hear Bokuto's voice call out to you as you swing open the door to the Yakiniku place.

It doesn't take more than a second to locate where Bokuto is sitted, because there he is waving enthusiastically at you behind the grill, which already has a platter or more pieces of meat lying on it.

You try to form a small smile on your face when you meet Bokuto's, which grins back at you so brightly, that it could compete with the afternoon's sun in terms of which would give off more energy and stand a 50℅ of winning.

“Hey, sorry did you wait long?”You ask finally after settling down on the seat opposite him, which he responds back immediately with a shake of the head. 

“Nope! Not at all!”He says while moving his tongs to grab the pieces of meat off the grill, placing them onto your plate.

“These are for you by the way!" Bokuto says gleefully while doing so, making your eyes gaze back and forth, from the look on his face to the slices of grilled meat he places on your plate.

For the next hour or so, you don't remember exactly what happened. Even what you even placed into your own mouth. All you can remember is Bokuto grilling all the meat for you and serving them onto your plate, while your head juggling between reality and the assignment.

And you can't help but hate how distracted you were. You wished you could have solely focused on conversing with Bokuto earlier.

The video I mentioned in the post is this one (and I actually love watching them cos i genuinely find them interesting)

Bokuto genuinely worried his head off that he got too annoying for yn to handle when she didnt use emojis (so when she used two crying face emojis in 'you noticed' he was instantly relieved)

He was still very cheery to yn tho (because he felt that yn was feeling down & wanted to cheer her up)

He considered going to the guys group chat and crying a bit about how awkward the yakiniku lunch was (but decided afterwards to man up because they were all busy with projects/assignments & he shouldnt disturb them)

The yakiniku lunch was actually really awkward; I would cry if I was there (half the time yn gave dry responses and dazed out in her surroundings (because she was stressed)

Brainstorming for projects/assignments are no joke; it gets really tiring especially when your mind starts blanking but you need more ideas (I hate it so much)

pull a friend is basically a roblox game that allows one person to pull another person in a cart while navigating through obstacle courses (if you play roblox, u shld play w ur friends someday -- highly chaotic)

yes kenma's stream viewers usually address him as ken only (it started circulating after one day lev addresses kenma as js ken after watching the barbie movie)

(kenma actually hates it, he doesnt think hes a ken)

yn & yachi actually almost nearly quarrelled the whole entire game (from start to yn rage quitting) they just lacked coordination today

yn actually did rage quit (she was too embarrassed abt falling down more times than lev when shes considered better at obbies than him so she left)

kuroo's rizz reveal in first slide is a chemistry rizz I created myself (im actually very proud of it)

i may have or may not have randomly chose kenma's stream account pfp (i was genuinely too tired then when I realised I needed to create a new acc for kenma's streams since the current one is a private acc)

yn's favourite ghibili film is spirited away (she especially liked no face because she genuinely thought he was cute just ruined by environment)

yn is an introvert hence she has never made friends on her own (yachi and lev approached her first & kenma was simply because he was her roommate)

bokuto actually wouldn't have asked yn if she liked cats if she didn't tell him she actually doesn't like her major as much (he only did because he didn't want to make her feel uncomfortable again like the hand sign mistake)

in other words, bokuto thought he said something wrong again because yn left him on read before he asked abt her liking towards cats

I had genuinely no idea what to name this chapter so this title might not have made any sense but like iykyk..?

the apology letter was made with the shared brain cells of yn and lev over call (they both agreed that making a peace treaty sounded brilliant)

both kuroo and akaashi were secretly wondering in their heads why bokuto was treating his macbook like a pet by telling yn to give him updates about it (but knowing bokuto, they decided not to question it)

shoyo being the simple minded person did not think much about it (he just thought it was cute & a great idea)

The cool air blows at her hair gently, making the strands that came loose from her messy bun flutter around her face which rested comfortably on her arms.

Clearly not noticing the fact that her lecture has ended and students from another course was slowly streaming in, yn had fallen asleep soundly, her eyelids shut tight.

Among the crowd that continued to stream in incessantly, came a looming figure who was humming a soft upbeat tune under his breath as he headed towards the table yn was slumped on. As soon as his eyes laid on the slumped figure on the table, his dark brown irises seemed to widen slightly before he slips himself into the seat next to yn.

Questions seemed to form in his head as he glances at yn, silently taking in her comfortable sleeping position with his eyes. The way she barely fidgeted in the position she held herself in made him realise she could have been resting in the lecture room for more prolonged periods of time, perhaps roughly 30 mins before he had arrived. She seemed too deep into sleep for someone who had just slipped into a short nap.

Lifting up his phone, he drifted his thumb towards the camera button, taking a quick shot of the soundly sleeping yn. As soon as the soft click of the phone camera sounded into the surroundings, yn seemed to have awoke from her slumber as she shifts her head slightly in her arms, before bringing it up. The sudden action makes Bokuto jolt back slightly as he immediately slips his phone back into his pocket.

"Sorry! I didn't mean to disturb you."

He exclaimed, his voice coming out genuinely apologetic despite the upbeat energy brought about in his tone.

Ah crap....I must have slept into the lecture of another class...

Yn thought as her eyes darted from side to side, wondering how she could possibly get herself out of this awkward and embarrassing encounter right now.

"Are you new to this course?"

He asks as panic continued to fill yn's head, making her unable to process her thoughts properly. It was not even helping that she was starting to feel butterflies in her stomach from the anxiety she was holding within right now.

Quickly, deciding that she couldn't be leaving the guy in front of her hanging for too long, yn shook her head violently in response as her hands fumbled to gather all her items back into her tote bag.

She could feel Bokuto's eyes continue to follow her actions as she packed her belongings up quickly, her fingers flying all across her table space.

"Wait..."

Bokuto started slowly before he taps yn's shoulder gently, trying to get her attention before he waves his finger from the tip of his earlobe to the edges of his mouth.

Confusion seemed to surface clearly on yn's face as she stares at Bokuto, trying to decipher what he was hinting at. Her eyes squinting slightly as she glanced at Bokuto.

Was he seriously trying to mew in front of me right now?

She thought in her head, her eyes silently following his finger, from the tip of his earlobe to the corner of his mouth...

And all of a sudden, it clicks within her. He was trying to signal the word "deaf" all along.

Is he seriously calling me deaf?

Yn thought in her head as she felt her cheeks burn slightly with embarrassment. Her heart pounds incessantly at the possible insulting remark that Bokuto had made, her hands reaching for her bag that sat next to the leg of the table she was sitting on.

The only way she could escape this sense of discomfort right now was to run away. But before she could grab her things and make a run for it, she feels another tap on her shoulder as Bokuto speaks up again.

"Ah was that not it? Hold on... I think I know another one."

Expecting something possibly better, yn turns and lifts her head towards Bokuto, almost expectantly. Except this time, the hand sign was worse than before.

Her eyes instantly widened as soon as she read the hand signs one by one...

Go and eat shit.

And it was enough to send her bolting towards the door and out of the room.

bokuto took that picture of yn to tell the gc he has a new desk partner now in sports science (but he didn't get to send it before yn woke up)

kuroo did not actually teach bokuto, he was just learning how to scold people with sign language one day cos he thought it might come useful (and bokuto just decided to learn along with him mindlessly)

as a small sigh collapsed out of your mouth, you can't help but wonder silently in your head if you seemed awkward and suspicious while walking down the hallways earlier.

Perhaps I did. I mean, I was trying so hard to hide my computer from any prying eyes, which I had to hold protectively in my arms without a computer bag, fearing that someone would point out that it wasn't mine.

the fearful thought continued to linger in your head, drowning out your lecturer's monotonous voice echoing in the background, travelling into your ear and out again. Well, not like he was talking about anything important. He was probably acting passive aggressive with the class again, complaining about how your cute tiny brains just can't seem to think of any better and more creative draft ideas for the most recent product design projects.

Slowly, you let your eyes roam from left to right, scanning around your surroundings before you drift your fingers back to your phone under the table to scroll through your social media page.

This might just be a good time to figure out who was the actual owner of the Macbook you currently have in possession. This mysterious person who thought it would be a good idea to scribble the words, 'bokuto' on their keypad to mark their Macbook. Maybe it was a smart decision for them, considering the amount of time you took yesterday night trying to scrub it off... but just not in your case.

As your eyes silently scanned your social media feed, once in a while glancing back up to see if anyone caught you slacking during lecture and decided to rat you out - or worse - the lecturer catches you instead. You gulp, shuddering at the thought as you tighten your grip around the frame of your phone.

Your eyes abruptly widen as you stumble upon a post that seemed to be writing about the Macbook that you had picked up from the dumpster yesterday. Comparing the details to your situation, uour mouth fell open in a silent gasp at how it matched up, leaving to no doubt due to the similarities.

But the shock you received does not stem from the owner posting about his lost Macbook, nor him asking people to be on a look out for it (because you would probably do that as well), but it's the owner's profile picture itself.

Your throat tightens. Oh no. A flush begins to creep steadily across your cheeks even as you try to suppress it, the effort futile. It’s like trying to capture the wind in your palms.

This is a big, problematic situation that you dread ever coming into contact with.

yn and yachi actually beef a lot with each other on chat, but they consider each other as their for lifers

lev doesn't get gen z / gen alpha slangs (because even if he has ever heard of its meaning before, he forgets it too easily)

yn's product design lecturer acting passive aggressive towards her is basically my personal experience (my design teachers are always passive aggressive its killing me)

yn lives in her own world half the time, she has zero knowledge on volleyball & people from other majors (no matter how popular they are) hence she rarely falls for guys in her school (and if she does, she falls hard like a hopeless romantic admiring their crush from a distance)

btw yn did manage to hack into bokuto's macbook and add her sign in to the computer (the password was IMBESTvolleybaler1234)

Out of everyone in yn's friend group, Lev (being the simpleton he is) would always approve of yn's actions (he doesn't see anything wrong about it usually)

Yn did feel bad about her actions after being called out by Yachi, but she didn't want to admit her guilt (she genuinely thought she ate with this idea)

Bokuto hid himself underneath the table throughout the whole afternoon after realising he got scammed until Shoyo came back with yakiniku

Akaashi resetted Bokuto's passwords while he was in a mood and Kuroo tried his best to rush Shoyo home

and yes, if you guessed it, Bokuto names his passwords after events / things that has happened in his life (in this format: event, dd, mm)
