like i said this before but we all know why comparatively there's been far less Lesbian Porn For Men art of imodna compared to the other marisha/laura pc pairs and it's not because of the mean lesbian twitter users bullying men out of liking it. it's because c3 is too "woke for them". the story revolves around a woman's backstory and they can't project onto any of the men (two senior citizens, a person of color, a gay little person, and two Pronoun Havers), and that's not even getting into the storyline of anti-authoritarianism or defying the status quo and fighting against a old white man in power who loves colonization so they go back to drawing tlovm vex'halia and keyleth getting sold into sex slavery for the gazillionth time

that's wild that you don't see 'the grumpy one is soft for the sunshine one' for mlm cause i see (or used to see?) that all the time!!! tbh i think it's more common for like...YA books or back in the day when shows like supernatural were still big but i see it less now, though i wonder if it's just less popular in actual play spaces. or at least critrole or maybe it's toned down over time?
Maybe I just don't see it argued for in the same way? Like, I was never into supernatural but I was well aware of like, the two main M/M ships through osmosis and I guess I never saw the pitch for WHY those were the ships. And yeah I don't keep up with YA. Which honestly, might be onto something here - I feel like even F/F ships between adult women in adult works are often given like, very YA-style tropes by fandoms, because women frequently often aren't treated like full complicated adult people but rather like eternal teenagers by said fandoms.

This is a genuine question, but idk if I just follow good people or don't scroll through the critrole tag enough, but where are you finding biphobia? Or I guess, if I could phrase it another way, in regards to what are people being biphobic? I'm not looking to start shit, I just haven't seen any or am horrifyingly ignorant on how it's presented
I just open the tags or, more often, finding a blog that was reblogged by a blog in my activity. Stuff that I've seen this month alone have included:
referred to Chet, who has flirted with people who are not women on multiple occasions, as the token straight
insisted that Imogen and Laudna are specifically lesbians / assumed that Imogen and Laudna are, by default, lesbians — some people get real aggressive if you mention interpreting Imogen or Laudna as bisexual but a lot of it is subtler than that
surprised that a woman who is married to a man can roleplay a woman who is pining for a woman in a meaningful way, as if the two are exclusive to one another
acted like Laura has never played a queer character before when Vex is bisexual
dismissed Vex as not counting bc she ultimately married a man
"joked" that Fearne is wasted on men
referred to Fearne as a lesbian (this is uncommon, but it usually happens in "jokes")
referred to Allura as a lesbian
refused to count Liam as playing a queer PC every campaign
This is not even the most egregious stuff historically, but this is some of what I've seen in the past month.
The biphobia problem is recurrent in this space—just as it's recurrent in any other space I've been in. A lot of it is outright dismissal of queer characters when they're attracted to other genders or downplaying that attraction, acting like that attraction is not as important, or even erasing that attraction to other genders. There's a lot of diminishing characters who are attracted to other genders as being not as important or as good / shiny / meaningful, sometimes outright dismissing them as not counting or framing them as placeholders for "more real" queer characters. The idea that wlw are by default lesbians and mlm are by default gay men is a big but subtle one. That's all just to name a few things.
A lot of it is more indirect than people expect, but it is pervasive in most fandom spaces, and this fandom space is no exception despite the number of bisexual characters.

nearly just hit the unfollow button instead of the ask button . N, R, & U?
awww thank you for the ask (and not unfollowing!) 💕
N - Name three things you wish you saw more or in your main fandom (or a fandom of choice)
N really is my lucky letter because i've gotten it three times thus far so your theme is going to be really specific wants i have about my little guy caleb widogast:
moooore blumendrei; the wizards definitely do have a small and loyal fanbase that i am very happy to be a part of, and also this fanbase is always welcoming new blood 🤗 i think caleb as a character is haunted so much by his past, it's odd to me that so many of his fans don't contend much with it directly
caleb actually being a middle-aged man and everything that entails; i don't think the fandom is really that bad about randomly twink-ifying him or anything, but i do feel like we could often be a little more specific in describing his body, and also i feel like hardly anybody ever deals with what it must feel like to finally have a life again for the first time since you were 17 and now you're like 34. i mean happens to all of us but i do want to read more of it
shadowgast breakup taken seriously; this is very specific because i was spinning ideas for it today but i really do want to read a fic where caleb and essek break up on purpose and it is not actually a grand misunderstanding where if only they had clarified that they still love each other it would all be fixed!
R - Which friendship/platonic relationship is your favorite in fandom?
my hobby is staying up late blurring the already non-existent line between platonic/romantic/sexual relationships so i don't have a real answer for this! and tbh the more i think about it, the more i realize that there are very few "strictly platonic" relationships in critrole that compel me - it's often the mess that makes them attractive
outside critrole my default answer would probably be campal from the locked tomb series, but i would go on record saying that they're the ideal platonic relationship and i think they become very slightly more interesting if we assume there was a sexual component involved
U - Three favorite characters from three different fandoms, and why they’re your favorites
well we all know who number one is going to be
caleb widogast; you were not born with venom in your veins, you learned it!! you learned it!!!!! it's actually almost ridiculous to look back in time at the person i was four years ago before i knew that this fictional character was going to save me. i was a shitty teenager and i hurt a lot of people and i'm going to carry that with me forever! but also maybe there is still a life for me even after all of that! and also he has beautiful hair and unmatched hubris
iron man; i've been casually dipping back into the mcu so thinking about him again and unsurprisingly i'm also here for the unrelenting guilt and incalculable hubris (with bonus daddy issues!) but part of what i like about tony stark so much is that he takes all of his personal problems and makes it the whole world's problems. the whole universe's problems. and i just think that's fascinating
cersei lannister; every single hotd thought i've had this year has inched me ever so slightly closer to reading got again, because sometimes i'm reading fic about women in horrible situationships and thinking about how i could just be reading about cersei instead. like unfortunately tywin lannister's trueborn son and heir was born a girl and she proceeded to make that everybody else's problem as well, and in this way, we are sisters
(send me an alphabet fandom ask!)

Hello and Welcome!
My name's Malloy, and you could say I like to write fanfiction about villainous older women. Find me on AO3!
Critical Role
self-proclaimed captain of the rowboat that is Imogen Temult/Otohan Thull.
Main fic: Let Me Lay Waste to Thee (in which I give them the CritRole equivalent of a force bond). Spin-off series: Won’t You Lay Hands on Me (it's just smut and tension and the dreaded feelings), which expounds on Let Me for funsies while I write the big sequel. A few canon-adjacent one-shots, my favorite being A Dance With Danger (basically, 'what if Otohan attended the Chandei Quorum masquerade in Jrusar?')
Liliana Temult/Otohan Thull: the Moon Moms AU, an ongoing series of family-centric one-shots in which Liliana and Otohan share a history and raise Imogen together, detailing all the intricacies and difficulties that entails.
Stray Gods
Grace/Athena; specifically Restraint (but oh, to dream) (it's just smut) and a slow burn long fic that I have in the works.
Grace/Persephone; specifically Sing for Me (it's also just smut).
The Horizon Series
Aloy/Tilda van der Meer; most notably: Prometheus Bound.
Gen stuff: Silga and Untalla
Ship stuff: Regalla/Nasadi.
~
Here on Tumblr, I sometimes post sneak peeks of what I'm working on (all my stuff is tagged #mehoymalloy and #wip stuff). You can also find me on Twitter (which I use rarely) and Bluesky (which I use very rarely).
Lastly, feel free to drop me an ask anytime! Yell at me about Otohan Thull (please), shoot me a random question about my fics, toss me a writing prompt or a song rec for my silly little music playlists; I appreciate it all and I appreciate you! :)

the violent nosedive of the cr fandom's opinion on ashton is so interesting (negative)
i see my mutuals all the time say "oh wow orym fans all hate/d imogen and think she's pure evil!" and i did/do see some of those fans demonize imogen over the slightest faults (or outright lie about her), for me it was overwhelmingly "ashton is imogen if she was a GOOD character actually!" by laudmoo.res who called imogen an abusive incel lesbian who was going to become the bbeg or "ashton is laudna if she was a GOOD character actually!" if they were convinced laudna's arc was going to be her turning evil and joining delilah.
people adored ashton for being "the only sane man" in the room that gave everyone "tough love" and would defend him for all his actions and say the only reason anyone criticized them was because they were t*rfy imod.nas, which was ironic because these same people would overwhelmingly misgender ashton as a cis man.
then shardgate came along and there was a violent argument with half the fanbase ripping ashton's face off for "tricking fearne and not caring about anyone's feelings but their own" and the other half going "the rest of the team are selfish assholes with hero complexes that refuse to let ashton succeed" but everything cooled down-ish via the feywild sitch and the moon excursion.
and then downfall happened and i guess the latter team that got mad about shardgate grabbed their fucking football and ran with it to make everything ashton said next come off as ludinus worship. even the people that were hardcore defenders started saying he was a fash now and brainwashed by his titan side. i'll never stop being mad at people making posts about how ashton is selfish for not caring about the feelings of the xenophobic leaders.

Okay enough talk about critrole let's talk about games!!
I'm not really A Gamer (played some horse pc games as a kid, mass effect in my late teens, then nothing for like 10 years before picking up portal and suddenly I was Hooked) but I wanna talk about what I've played over the last couple of years! Because I'm me and I love a good list, let’s rank them (under readmore bc this got long):
1. Portal (1 & 2 plus various mods): enjoyed the first but didn't see why it was considered Extremely Good, went absolutely unhinged about the second, I love it so very much, excellent balance of gameplay, story and character, also thank god there are scifi games with little to no combat. 10/10
2. Prey: finished this one just the other day and immediately started a second playthrough. Had a bit of a rough start for me and I nearly dropped it due to being super confused, but once I got past the first hour or so I was fully hooked. FANTASTIC story and worldbuilding, so much detail, good balance of player choice without losing focus of the core story. I have some minor criticisms but overall I adored it. 9/10
3. Control: picked up this one bc of this video on haunted houses in games. The lore and setting is absolutely wild and SO creative, the characters are fun, and though I found it too combat focused I still enjoyed the mechanics once i got used to them. I did however feel it would've been helped by being more tightly written and less open world; all those unimportant fetch quests and randomly spawned enemies showing up every time I entered a room sometimes made it feel like the main plot got a bit lost. 7.5/10.
4. Mass Effect Andromeda: nowhere near as good as the original trilogy, but also nowhere near as bad as general opinion makes it look. Frankly, the first of the trilogy was also pretty weak compared to 2 & 3, and if Andromeda had been allowed its sequels it may very well have risen to the same status. Cool story, fun characters, way too many fetch quests. 7/10.
5. Lightmatter: this one was fun, but there wasn't super much to it. Reminded me of the first portal game in that it has a pretty straightforward puzzle-focused plot with cool designs but pretty minimal character or worldbuilding work. Good for a quick playthrough but doesn't hold much re-playability (I recommend it if you yearn for mad science, spooky abandoned facilities and portal vibes though). 7/10.
6. Half-Life (1 & 2 plus episode 1 & 2): these should probably be ranked higher based on sheer quality, but my very subjective opinion is that they are very combat focused and I don’t care for combat. 2 especially felt like it was interludes of story meant only to point you to your next fight. Will probably never replay them. The overall plot and characters are really cool though (Alyx my beloved), and I hope to see the series reach a conclusion some day (would also work really well as a movie or show I think). The fact that it got me invested despite being a shooter (and the very dated visuals of the first) speaks for the fact that it is probably a lot better than I give it credit for. 6.5/10.
7. Alan Wake and Alan Wake's American Nightmare: gonna be real with you, I didn't enjoy these. Clichéd and unlikable main character, repetitive gameplay, clunky combat, and it has no idea how to write interesting women (American Nightmare especially, yikes (cool villain though)). There are however interesting story aspects, and since it’s tied to the universe of Control and the internet seems pretty agreed that the sequel is Much Better, I may still finish the series at some point. 4/10.
Honorary mentions (games I played only bits and pieces of with a friend)
Halo: didn't like. Stop making me play as Big Muscle Man who Shoots Stuff. I'm sure there’s interesting lore but not enough to make me even slightly tempted to play more of it. 1/10.
Dead Space: really liked this one but also I'm a baby and it scared me lmao. I've got it on my wishlist so I can eventually buy it and finish playing because I'm Invested. 7/10 (likely to change once I've finished playing)
Alien Isolation: it was okay I guess? I feel like I can't give a fair judgment of it without playing the whole thing, but also it didn't hook me enough that I want to buy it and play more. 5/10.
Scorn: absolutely horrific but also really cool. Needed more story to work for me personally but also story clearly wasn't the point of the game. Will never forget it, will also never touch it again. ???/10.
