hello! I'm @psychstudydream :)

i've been around on studyblr for about 7/8 years but I decided to start afresh on a new blog since it's been a while.

I'm a final year criminology & sociology student in the uk. I'm doing my dissertation on perceptions of public opinions of sentencing!

after graduating, I'll be taking a year out to save up and get some volunteering/work experience before applying for a masters in psychology (conversion)!

I'd like to be a clinical psychologist :)

I have just under five weeks until my dissertation and other assignment is due, so for now this account will mostly be focused on content related to that! I'll be posting studyspo, motivation, updates, timelapses, deskspo, etc etc !! :) after I graduate, this account will shift to be focused on my journey towards becoming a clinical psychologist.

My name is Mari, and this is my study, academia, reading and learning related sideblog!!

I am in my second year of studying criminology in Amsterdam. I have this habit of wanting to know absolutely everything in all fields of study, so I’m widely interested in sociology, psychology, criminal law, art, literature, different cultures, history and more!

My goal with this blog is to share my passion for learning, see and give inspiration for books, movies, museums and other cool things.

A while ago I suffered from a burnout, so with this blog I really put a focus on a healthy work environment, healthy study mentality and taking good care of your mental health while having fun with learning.

I hope with my blog to share some passion about learning and also show that you absolutely don’t have to be perfect, to take care of your wellbeing and to just have a good time!

im about to take my first intro to criminal justice class, do you have any tips or things I should know?

i hope you enjoy the class - criminology can be really interesting and you'll learn a *lot* that'll change ur whole perspective on things!!

in terms of tips:

keep in mind that the content can be kind of heavy sometimes, so don't be ashamed to excuse urself from class or to take a break from studying!! we have a case study for every class and it can be really upsetting to hear things outside the safe theoretical classroom lens.

but also, finding real life examples can make some of the less interesting topics more engaging so... it's a double edged sword i think ...

come to class prepared bc i found that the discussions in my criminology classes are some of the most interesting !! people often have very contrasting opinions (especially when it comes to things like the death penalty, punitivism, and differences in sentencing for men vs women) !!

read / watch around the subject!! some recs: gang leader for a day, on the run (alice goffman), convicts with cameras, & puppies for prisoners !!

Subjects for Fantasy Authors to Study

A couple of days ago, I posted a list of subjects that have helped me become a better writer. It seems to have been helpful for many people.
