You've seen Inevitable's possible shapes, now it's time for another voidspawn, this time with foul origin This one still possesses ability to shapeshift, but not so creative as other beings, and prefers to stay in anthro only Upd: a bit infodump Their name is An This look is related to the end of this characters story, when they devoured too much leviathans and demigods, so keeping more simple "earthly" shape of a mortal became a problem It's like trying to condense something huge into one small spec of sand - you can't keep this ethereal energy in mortal shell forever So An changed into something close to demigods itself, 4m tall, with extra limbs, sometimes shifting forms to fit their current situation I have old ref of them with "mortal" look, but it's too old and cringy so I'll better redraw it someday instead of showing here :V

In my mind, cryptid ladies can rock some antlers too. ✨ The first time I drew this creature was during the pandemic in 2020. The Ravenstag was born from a liminal hallucination of the conscious and subconscious blurring together.

People who say Ford abused the shapeshifter, what.

I just read those pages. Fiddleford immediately wanted to freeze him, but Ford wrote, “I've grown attached to the creature.” He wasn't like OH ☝️ I must TORTURE this thing POST HASTE! He found a weird creature while digging and hand fed it some beans. The shapeshifter didn't show signs of being dangerous (besides "watch your fingers")

Ford named him Shifty and did experiments, which involved seeing what forms he could take by showing him a book of animals, and he upgraded his kennel when he grew. Ford considered him a pet, but noted that Fiddleford being raised as a farmhand made him unsentimental toward what he saw as “livestock.”

Ford continued to take care of him until Shifty went nuts and tied Fiddleford up to take his place and steal journal 3. Even as Ford froze the shapeshifter for their safety, he wrote that he felt remorseful for having to freeze his former pet, but even worse that he'd been fooled - and that Fiddleford had paid the price

for the past few months i've been building up how a postcanon "human" shapeshifter design might look so here they are finally! i just think they deserve a proper arc

strained relationship with both fiddleford and ford, though a bit more resentful towards fiddleford

design elements partly inspired by boris the animal, specifically the way eyebrows work

theseus (in universe) takes a mix of features from both ford (mostly) and fiddleford (and to an extent "baron num nums") while also leaning into making an actual identity for themself

Remembering that time in middle school I sat at my lunch table and talked very excitedly about this quiz I took that said I was otherkin (ah quotev days) and the immediate shame and embarrassment I felt when no one reacted beyond telling me I "didn't want to be that"

I didn't really know what otherkin meant or that there was a whole non human community at the time, and the confusion and shame my one interaction gave me put the thought out of my mind

Now I don't know what my actual label or identity is, it's not a spiritual thing or even really mental or physical, it's not a strong feeling or shifting thing

I just know I feel more like an dog, that when my joints or other chronic pain flares up a small part of feels like if I could just shift the way they connect it be better, like they hurt because my body is begging for that change

I know I want my room to be a den, dark and warm and comfy and safe, someplace I can keep my horde and pack safe, that I want a pack and feel connected to people much more like a pack then "normal" human feelings

So I don't know my very exact and specific terms, but I do know I've felt more like myself since allowing myself to let go of the human mask a little
