Hi! I have been looking a bit into otherkin related labels, and I am considering the possibility of being either dragonkin or dragonhearted, but I do not know which of the labels I would fall under, if either. I find it hard to tell whether I identify AS a dragon or WITH dragons. Firstly, I have sort of a sense that I should be a dragon, almost like i was born in the wrong kind of body, and oftentimes when i think about it i get a feeling that is similar to my gender dysphoria. - A (pt 1/4)

(continuing from pt 1) I also feel a strong i guess i would describe it as a pull towards dragons; generally favoring media that predominantly features dragons, and collecting several plushies, figures, and art of dragons, which always make me feel happy and to some degree a sense of connection. I also so badly yearn to do dragon things like flying through the clouds, for example. - A (pt 2/4)

(continued from pt 2) I also have multiple dragon sonas, some of which I use to represent myself online, which i view at least in some way as a part of myself. As for draconic behavior, the main one i have specifically noticed is that I hoard things that are of value to me quite a lot. Ive always had many collections of things for as long as i can remember, really. I have, to the best of my knowledge, never experienced a shift before, or at least hadn't realized what was happening - A (pt 3/4)

This has been an element of my identity that ive never really looked into before and im interested to know more. So, I'm not gonna tell you what or who you are, but I can tell you that you are describing textbook dragonkin experiences and if I'm perfectly honest, I think you may be overthinking it a little. Species dysphoria especially is not a typical otherhearted experience, nor is having draconic instincts or that kind of deep homesickness for the sky that you're describing. The other things could go either way, but then, they could theoretically also be "normal human" experiences in isolation - but taken together, you're describing an extremely typical dragonkin experience.

At this point in your questioning journey, since it seems like you've gone through a lot of the early stages of documenting what does and does not point you toward the label, my advice is honestly just this: don't be afraid to just try the label on and see how it feels. If it feels wrong in the end, you can always discard it later, but at a certain point, the only way to know if something fits right is to try it on. There's nothing wrong with being wrong.

Pros and cons of having a human body (inspired by @/evanpapevan711)

Pros:

Having opposable thumbs is nice

I can eat foods that my theriotypes can’t eat (like chocolate, grapes, alliums, and citruses)

I can communicate with my family and friends easily

I can read, write, and draw

Cons:

My stamina is terrible

I’m not very flexible

I have no ear mobility

No tail :(

I have no fluffy fur to keep me warm and express myself

To add, I also have no scales

My teeth aren’t sharp

I have no claws to scratch things

I can’t vocalize properly like my theriotypes

I can’t fly and have no big wings

I can’t climb things very well

My senses are dull compared to my theriotypes

Have to go to school

Have to pay taxes

Have to get a job

Have to deal with capitalism and bigotry

I have boobs :(

Have to deal with body dysphoria

I think you get the point lol

Remembering that time in middle school I sat at my lunch table and talked very excitedly about this quiz I took that said I was otherkin (ah quotev days) and the immediate shame and embarrassment I felt when no one reacted beyond telling me I "didn't want to be that"

I didn't really know what otherkin meant or that there was a whole non human community at the time, and the confusion and shame my one interaction gave me put the thought out of my mind

Now I don't know what my actual label or identity is, it's not a spiritual thing or even really mental or physical, it's not a strong feeling or shifting thing

I just know I feel more like an dog, that when my joints or other chronic pain flares up a small part of feels like if I could just shift the way they connect it be better, like they hurt because my body is begging for that change

I know I want my room to be a den, dark and warm and comfy and safe, someplace I can keep my horde and pack safe, that I want a pack and feel connected to people much more like a pack then "normal" human feelings

So I don't know my very exact and specific terms, but I do know I've felt more like myself since allowing myself to let go of the human mask a little

Beauty and the Beast AUs are so tricky to get right and honestly this is the best one I've read to date out of any fandom I've been in. tips for giving an old parchment effect to your creations:

Mix brown and orange paint with water.

Test on a separate paper: if the color obtained is like the color in the center of the drawing in the photo, it's good!

If the color is too light, add more paint, and if it is too dark, add water.

Paint the entire support with this mixture

Add a little paint to the rest of the mixture and paint the sides with (blend with your finger)

Tear the sides a little for more realism.

Finally, add a little black paint to the tears and spray a few drops of paint all over the sheet.
