A New Website?!

Hello, night world! There’s been a lot of development in the last month with L.J. I didn’t immediately get to post about it, because I was sick and wanted to check it over more before doing so but I’m fairly confident it’s real so I’m here to share the update!

LJ is active currently! Shes’s made a new website, with a current photo of her in a blog post to better sooth the worries of if it’s her or not as well.

Her new website is theljsmith.com (her original is LJaneSmith.net)

I also emailed her account, which I learned she has an admin team now for one. I asked a bunch of questions and between her account and the replies I will sum up the important parts below:

Strange Fate is fully written!!!

It’s so big it became 2 books in general, as well as Lullaby which originally was split from it as well. All 3 appear to be finished, and are currently with her agent.

The names for Strange Fate are now Strange Fate: Mystic and Strange Fate: Apocalypse. LJ also does have a news letter as well, which you can sign up for to keep up with Strange Fate as well as the Strange Fate contest that is coming up in January!

She also no longer has access to the original website, but if she manages to get this going again she will post on it to direct original fans to the new site.

Most of my fandom friends I've met through fanfic, but I did have one backwards case. Through sporadic, cautious conversation over many months, my coworker and I learned that we were both obsessed with Night World fanfic in the early days. She was telling me, "There was one author on ff.net called Kiana--" at the same time I was googling "Kiana Caelum" to show her my favorite and the SHRIEKS WE SHRIEKED when we realized what had just happened! We ducked under the reference desk when we remembered we were at work and, after we resumed our battle stations, we got so many dirty looks from the patrons that day.

I will admit, I hoped LJ’s return and announcement of Strange Fate with solid appearing news would have been a bit bigger of news because I felt similarly about Midnight Sun and that was huge news (I never thought this would be that big of course, but still).

Anyway I would like to make an effort to share this information to get more folks excited? I know so many people read them when they were rereleased! I’m considering another social media site. I’m sure a FB group would be the best place but I’m also trying to cut back on that hellhole considerable. Maybe a Bluesky account? I’m also very much done with twitter lol.

A “Night World” or general LJ Smith week would be fun too, though it’s been a while since I jumped that hard into fandom planning.

Claire’s mouth tightens, “I’m fine.”

Claire’s smile was a little more genuine. “Thanks, but you should probably focus on healing and being like one of four people who can save the world.”

“I can do that and be a cousin,” Jez says, “and I promise the longer you resist the bond the worse it gets. If it helps Val is as miserable as you.”

“Great,” Claire says sarcastically “great we make each other miserable that’s exactly how soulmates and true love should be like,”
