A before and after for baking orange cranberry soda bread.

It at least doubled in size in the oven!

Hubs has been asking for something orange cranberry (we usually do orange cranberry bread pudding) since it's been a while. I think I surprised him by choosing to make a loaf.

Spring seedlings have been started. The sun is coming around more these days. Snow seems to be about done. Hopefully, I'll start posting again. This past winter really left me in the blues and the sun coming back has helped so much with that.

Resident Human: "Today we're going to make some cranberry orange bread." Lady H.N.C. Rootbottom: "It's a very ladylike and sophisticated holiday bread, don't you think?"

Resident Human: "I suppose..." Lady H.N.C. Rootbottom: "What matters most is that it's delicious." Resident Human: "Well, it'll certainly be that."

Resident Human: "Alright, we've got everything need..." Lady H.N.C. Rootbottom: "The mix smells lovely. Like oranges!" Resident Human: "That's because there's orange zest in it." Lady H.N.C. Rootbottom: "Mmmm..."

Lady H.N.C. Rootbottom: "Very nice! But... where's the cranberries?" Resident Human: "I'm getting to that. Patience is a virtue, after all."

Resident Human: "Ta-da!" Lady H.N.C. Rootbottom: "Uhm.... what?" Resident Human: "Those are the cranberries. They come packaged right with the mix." Lady H.N.C. Rootbottom: "No. Absolutely not. Cranberries do not come from cans."

Resident Human: "Yes, well, your human doesn't have time right now to sit and cut lots of little cranberries in half and simmer them, so we're going with what's in the can." Lady H.N.C. Rootbottom: *sigh* "Disappointing. Although... they smell really good... Like cranberry sauce!"

Resident Human: "They are good. They're real cranberries, they've just been preserved." Lady H.N.C. Rootbottom: "I can even see tiny seeds!" Resident Human: "Mm-hmm. Trust me, it'll be tasty."

Lady H.N.C. Rootbottom: "That's a lot of cranberries for such a small batch of batter." Resident Human: "That's because we want it extra fruity, don't we?" Lady H.N.C. Rootbottom: "Why, yes, I suppose we do."

Resident Human: "There we go. All done."

Lady H.N.C. Rootbottom: "Smells divine!"

Resident Human: "Alright, into the oven!" Lady H.N.C. Rootbottom: "I'm so excited!"

Lady H.N.C. Rootbottom: "Wow... what a gorgeous bread..." Resident Human: "Isn't it nice looking?" Lady H.N.C. Rootbottom: "And it smells even better than it looks!"

Lady H.N.C. Rootbottom: "I think we've done a fine job, indeed." Resident Human: "Yes, we make great baking buddies."

Lady H.N.C. Rootbottom: "Now for the very most important question of all..." Resident Human: "Here it comes..." Lady H.N.C. Rootbottom: "May we eat it?" Resident Human: *chuckles* "Of course we may."

Resident Human: "Oh, some of them come in a can with this particular boxed mix. And we've got extra craisins to add because we like a lot of fruit in this house, heh." Lady Rootbottom: "Splendid."

Lady Rootbottom: "You're doing an excellent job thus far." Resident Human: "Aren't you going to help?"

Lady Rootbottom: "I am helping, darling. I'm supervising. It's a very important job." Resident Human: *chuckles* "If you say so."

Lady Rootbottom: "It already smells exactly like what I had hoped. Light, sweet, and fruity." Resident Human: "That's the idea!"

Lady Rootbottom: "This is moving along swimmingly, don't you think?" Resident Human: "I do believe it is."

Resident Human: "I agree. Almost time to put it in the oven." Lady Rootbottom: "I can see the cranberry goodness floating around in it!"

Resident Human: "And now, we wait." Lady Rootbottom: "I seem to be a bit dry, dear." Resident Human: "I think you've had enough wine for your size." Lady Rootbottom: "Did... did you just call me fat?!" Resident Human: "No! Quite the opposite! Someone as tiny as you shouldn't drink too much." Lady Rootbottom: "Oh, very well. I suppose you are just looking out for me, after all."

Lady Rootbottom: "Gorgeous, my dear, simply gorgeous!"

Lady Rootbottom: "I think it was my supervision that really made the entire endeavor come together, don't you?" Resident Human: *laughs* "Absolutely."
