A before and after for baking orange cranberry soda bread.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It at least doubled in size in the oven!
Hubs has been asking for something orange cranberry (we usually do orange cranberry bread pudding) since it's been a while. I think I surprised him by choosing to make a loaf.
Spring seedlings have been started. The sun is coming around more these days. Snow seems to be about done. Hopefully, I'll start posting again. This past winter really left me in the blues and the sun coming back has helped so much with that.
Have a bunny munching on some parsley as a thank you for being patient with me <3

you can recall the feeling you had just a few months ago, unfamiliarity that bubbled in your gut and gushed out of the seams. moving to a new home was stressful, and the loneliness that could occur was fearsome.
the small but comfortable house that you now owned definitely needed some fixing when you had first arrived, the paint chipped and floors creaky at the time. making it your own was a job for many, but you managed to do it all by yourself. your proudest accomplishment being the beautiful garden that took up your spacious backyard, colorful and bright with the flowerets that scattered across the tall grass. every day without fail, you cared for your garden like a mother to a child, taking your time to nourish it with water and dense soil.
today was no different, as you stood outside in the beaming light. your sundress brushed to the floor beneath you, hair braided out of your face as you tended to the newest addition to your ever expanding eden. the seedlings you had were placed ever so carefully, each having their own special spot.
“ zinnia’s ? ”
you’re rather startled by the sudden voice, falling back from your squatting position with a thud, and your head whips up to the culprit of the question.
a man stands as he looks to you, golden locks neatly in place as he peers over the short wooden picket fence that seperates you two. his eyes widen ever so slightly, but you’re sure not to miss it as you stare intently.
“ im sorry. i didn’t mean to startle you, miss. ”
if it weren’t for the kind, sultry tone in his voice and the… handsome face he displayed, you probably would’ve yelled out a curse by now. but you have better judgment than that, lifting yourself off of your tailbone to sit upright.
“ it’s alright. yes, um… they’re zinnia’s ”
you notice his face soften when he realizes you weren’t too startled, relieved that he hadn’t given you a heart attack or gotten chewed out.
“ ah, those bloom nicely this time of year. ” he notes, hand now outstretched over the fence posts in greeting.
“ kento nanami. your neighbor. nice to meet you. ”
since that day, you’ve seen nanami on the other side of that fence almost every time you watered your plants. he was very kind, and seemed to have quite the interest in your garden.
———
it’s another spring day, and the birds seem to be enjoying the sunlight as they chirp from the trees with their tunes, and you’re of course in your garden. the metal watering can sprinkles onto the newest blooms and growing blossoms, dew drops collecting on the petals.
yet again, nanami was in his yard, half of his body standing tall over the wooden pickets as he asks you a question that you’ve never had the pleasure of answering before.
“ which one is your favorite flower ? ”
the watering can stops it’s stream as you look to him, laughing lightly at the question.
“ i don’t actually have my favorite flower in my garden. ”
nanami’s brow furrows, “ oh ? why not ? ”
“ i suppose i just don’t have a green thumb when it comes to them. i’ve tried, but i just haven’t been able to plant them right. ” you admit, setting the watering can down onto a patch of clovers as you stand to his eye level.
“ i see. well, what are they ? ” he asks again.
“ oh, tulips. they’ve always been my favorite. ”
———
when you had gotten the call that your grandmother was in the hospital, you wanted to leave your home right away. she had fallen a bit ill, and you always had the worst of worries. you didn’t know how long you would be gone, or what could happen if you didn’t leave soon. but what you did know was that your garden needed watering and care, and you wouldn’t be there to do it.
when you had seen nanami in his yard as usual, you rather frantically ran through the stone walkway to your side of the fence, bag swinging at your side and a fresh bouquet held tightly in your hand.
“ mister nanami ! ” was what you had yelled, coming to a stop at the wooden barrier, braid swinging to the side of your shoulder.
“ oh, hello. are you alright ? ”
you think to yourself for just a moment about the outcomes of your question, and you knew it was quite late notice, but he was your last and only resort.
“ i have an emergency… im very sorry to ask you, but would you mind watering my garden while im gone ? if you’re unable to— ”
“ — of course. that’s alright with me. ”
you’re almost stunned by the sudden agreement, not sure why you were expecting him to say no. you awkwardly nod your head, hand digging into your bag to fish out your house key.
“ thank you, thank you so much ! i can’t thank you enough. i should return soon… the watering can is by the door, and if you could water the poppies more frequently, oh ! and the roses need to be— ”
“— i know. i’ve got it covered. be safe, please. ” nanami again stops you before you’re able to continue rambling, soft smile adorning his face.
your hands briefly touch, only for a moment, as you hand him the polished key to your home. you smile and wave one more time to the man before you, eternally grateful for his immense favor to you.
———
nanami had watched you work in your garden more times than he could count. he was observant, and knew your routine from start to finish. he always took the time to note the amounts of water you trickled onto the petals, the soft pats you gave to the soil as if you were tucking a child into bed, the care you took when planting something as small as a seedling. he would admire you, all while you two shared simple yet meaningful conversations.
he knew exactly what to do. he knew to water your orange poppies a bit more thoroughly, and to only sprinkle the droplets on the marigolds. he made sure to pat the soil of your newest seeds, daffodils. he wouldn’t forget to splash the daisies, or pot the lilies.
but nanami knew there was something missing in your garden, and he couldn’t forsake the opportunity.
———
when you had arrived back home almost a week later, nanami was no where to be found. your house key laid under your doormat neatly and hidden from view. you knew you had to thank him somehow for the kind deed, but for now, you had to check on one thing first. that being your beloved, sacred garden.
the first thing you noticed as you stepped out into the clovered yard was the stepping stones, neatly hosed down and free of dirt and debris. cleaner than you had ever seen them.
the second thing you saw was the lively blooms of your precious daffodils, slowly making their way out of the soil as they protruded from the ground in little sprouts.
the third, your garden was in absolutely perfect condition, if not better than when you had left. the blossoms from all of your flowers were lively and brighter, happy and hydrated. bee’s were buzzing happily in the pollen, and monarchs had taken a liking to your butterfly bush.
the final thing you noticed was impossible to miss, and you could feel your heart leap from your chest as you looked onward to the once empty spot in awe.
tulips had made an appearance into your garden, standing tall in precious pinks along the side of your fence.
———
you stand in your garden years later now, prospering petals shining brighter than ever before. tulips still line the perimeter of the fence posts, pretty in bulbs of a soft pink.
nanami watches you from the door to your enchanted eden now, admiring your soft, gentle hands that fluff up the bushes and swipe droplets from petals.
you’re in your sundress that now rises a bit above your feet, flowing long and graceful. the bump under your dress doesn’t go unseen, and your skin glows under the soft light that basks down onto you.
“ kento ! ” you call for him, foot shifting from the green grass to beckon him over.
nanami walks over to you, following the same stone path that has been etched into the ground over the time that has passed.
“ my love ? ” he answers, hand traveling from the small of your back with tender touches to wrap around your bump, hand resting just above your belly button.
you both now stand together on one side of the wooden picket fence that once separated you two, vines now beginning to grow up and through the small cracks. you look to him with the small fond smile that you had given him many times before.
“ do you think we could plant white tulips next ? ”
nanami smiles at you as he ponders your question, already knowing the answer.
“ anything for you, darling. ”
———
“ sweetheart ! don’t run or you’ll trip… ”
nanami warns. he sits on the small gingham blanket that covers the trefoil clovers, cookies and fruit plated on the woven picnic basket.
he watched your young daughter run through your garden, giggles erupting from her mouth with each barefoot step she took. her two braids swung wildly in the wind, ruffly dress swaying by her toes.
her laughs seem to be contagious as he watches you giggle too, smile bright and eyes squinted shut as your daughter runs into your legs, arms wrapping around them in a hug.
he sees his two darling girls spin and sway in dances under the warm sun, before his daughter comes running towards him. her arms are open wide, jumping onto him as he almost falls back with a small surprised “ umph !— ”
she looks to him with her babytoothed grin, and settles as you walk over to sit on the shared blanket too.
“ daddy ? ” is what your daughter says, shy smile as her arms come up from her sides with flowers grasped in her tiny hands. “ please ? ” is what she follows up with, and he already knows what your daughter is asking.
and soon enough, your daughters messy, sunkissed braids are littered with daisies, white and yellow sprinkled into the twisted strands.
“ kento ? ” he hears you call for him from beside your daughter, watching as your hand holds the same flowers that your daughter did. “ please ? ” you repeat the same words your child had asked moments before.
now, the two of you have your braids decorated from his own hands, wild and free as he watched you two continue to dance in your beloved garden.
nanami knew since the moment he had stepped foot into his bland yard years ago and locked eyes with your flowing yellow sundress, he wouldn’t be able to deny the beauty that stood in the backyard, gentle in the spring sun.

Sunflower, Vol. 6 Analysis
My baby, my darling, my decadent Sunflower, Vol. 6. Is this post just an excuse for me to sing my praises? To gush my heart out? Write a self-indulgent love letter to my favorite song? Absolutely. But won't you so generously entertain me with your time?
Sunflower, Vol. 6 holds genius on all the levels a mind can conceive — lyrical, musical — and I can't forget to mention the pure romanticism that induces a flush to my cheeks. Ahhh. Yet, somewhere, it remains one of his most underrated pieces. Harry's use of extended metaphor here is something I'll forever love, for he knows how to execute it well, and this song presents itself as a masterclass in said technique. Oh, my bad. Am I getting too ahead of myself again? If it wasn't clear, the beautiful sunflower is our metaphor here, with many layers to unravel. Petal by petal.
Here's a deep dive into Harry Styles' Sunflower, Vol. 6, from a poet. And your self-proclaimed residential sunflower connoisseur.
Tumblr media
🌻Why Sunflowers? Why the Vol. 6?
First, we must talk Floriography, a grand love of mine.
Floriography is, simply put, the language of flowers. Every flower out there holds different meanings, often based on the species, variant, color, characteristics, or all of the above in combination. Floriography then, you see, is the art of communicating through flowers. It was popularized during the Victorian Era, though it's been around before then. It is a way to communicate without saying much at all. People would carefully select and organize a bouquet/floral arrangement to convey a specific sentiment to the recipient. Even the distinction between a single flower sent or a bouquet held significance and could convey very different messages. There's great nuance to such a subtle means of communication.
But, I don't want to overwhelm you. Sunflowers in floriography will be our focus. Sunflowers symbolize loyalty, love of life, adoration, and devotion. The symbolism derives from sunflowers being heliotropic — the flower's tendency to follow the sun across the sky as an instinctual part of its growth cycle. And, how about that, this leads perfectly to my first theory about the addition of the Vol. 6.
According to the National Sunflower Association and seen in the official sunflower production handbook, a sunflower has 9 stages of reproductive growth (R-1 to R-9). But, to honor your time, let's skip ahead to stage R-6 or, if you will, a sunflower's sixth volume.
"Flowering is complete and the ray flowers are wilting."
This is the peak of the sunflower's reproductive growth, as its seeds begin to ripen, signifying the sunflower reaching maturity. R-1 to R-5 is from seedling to fully formed. R-5 is where you can cut the flowers down, arrange them in a pretty vase, and display them on your windowsill. Or a centerpiece for your table. Which is beautiful, but only for a time. But, the flower cut during R-5 will never progress to R-6, and will never complete the full circle of its life. It's a catalyst, a moment of decision toward change, for the seeds to be harvested and replanted for one of nature's cycles to continue.
Now, let's use our newfound knowledge of a sunflower's growth, and apply it to the metaphor we see here: a growing relationship. Within said metaphor, stage R-6 would be the height of the relationship — a time filled with ecstasy, admiration, and realization. But, in companionship with change. Pulling from our now-shared knowledge of floriography, we know that sunflowers communicate loyalty, love of life, adoration, and devotion. Therefore, my theorization is that the relationship at the song's heart is one that he thought could last, be sustained, and remain at its peak. Stage R-6 is where it peaked, maybe one of many peaks. But the found nuance is how it has a possibility of going down, paralleling how the sunflower's seeds will soon fall. But, in this cascading, there can be rebirth (as in, letting the natural cycle continue, parallels fate). The 6th volume, the 6th stage, is the catalyst for the future's fate. He could've chosen to let this person go, to cut the "Sunflower" down, put them in a vase, and only look fondly upon them as his past. Rather, he wants to fight for them to make it to the next stage, to try and complete the cycle to come back renewed. But, also, there's still uncertainty and a lingering change. Maybe they'd come back together, maybe they wouldn't. But all would be worth it.
The Fine Line album is heavy on themes of change and grieving, and this song slides into that grand motif just fine. To me, this song does chronicle a pivotal time between the two characters — the speaker, presumed to be Harry himself, and the lover being serenaded with this piece.
Though the growth stage theory is the one I'm most fond of, I do have other thoughts and theories about that Vol. 6 addition. It never seems to escape my mind, I'm always thinking about it. Even just running in the background of my brain. And, well, it's always good to have your backups! So, let's run through them, yeah?
Numerology: Number 6 is considered the most harmonious of the numbers, holding close a representation of home, harmony, nurturing, and idealism. It's an embodiment of the heart and can represent unconditional love. Don't have any clue if Harry's ever read up on numerology, but! I still feel as if it's a possibility to be one of those odd things he'd pick a book up on. Number 6 in love, the numerology personality is a devoted lover, which ties back to sunflowers symbolizing devotion. And, I'll end this bit off by quoting a paragraph from Astrotalk:
"Though numerology number 6 does not readily fall in love, once they do, they would go to any length to ensure that their partners are happy and safe... They are concerned about ensuring a safe and healthy environment for their partner. These are enthusiastic people that express a lot of love..."
Erik Erikson: Erikson's theory of Psychosocial Development has a total of eight stages — and stage 6 is the psychosocial crisis of intimacy vs. isolation, with the developed virtue being love. Those who chose intimacy foster deep meaningful connection, which is something explored as an aching desire in Harry's songs before. In this sixth stage of development, the core question asks: WILL I BE LOVED, OR WILL I BE ALONE? A path to an enriched life paves if intimacy is chosen. But, if this stage is ignored, it can manifest into a fear of rejection and negatively impact the other stages. Frankly, I could even stretch to say that core question can be applied to the song itself.
The 6th Song About This Person in Fine Line / Continuation Chapter: A shorter theory, and a more personal one that I have already convinced myself people might not see eye-to-eye on, but that's totally okay! The structure of Vol. 6 led me to a mindset of books. Not a very hard mindset to lead me into, but I digress. Which, then, made me consider it being a continuing chapter or the next book in a series, metaphorically. Golden. Watermelon Sugar. Cherry. Falling. To Be So Lonely. And, then, Sunflower, Vol. 6. When I listen to the album, these all have a connecting red string for me. That's all I'm going to say for now, for an elaboration would be a whole new dissertation here. And I'm already so lucky you're sticking around for this long one.
Just Five Others Volumes: Admittedly the most mundane and easy explanation of the many, but shouldn't be ruled out. There could very well be just five previous versions of the song stashed in his personal vault. Sometimes, you have to go through many versions before arriving at a final version you love. As a poet, I get you Harry, and I feel you in that.

🌻Lyric Pull Apart
[INTRO] Sunflower
Though sounding like gibberish at the top, this intro sets the foundation for the poetry to bloom. It's Harry saying the word sunflower, but reversed, which sets us up for a cyclical experience... much like the natural growth cycle of our beloved flower. Or, even, the cycle of the rising and falling of the sun. Or, maybe, the sun moving and the flower following. The relationship at the heart of the song will circle back around, never truly wilting or fading. Embedded in the stylistic choice of the circle structure, this love transcends the standard timeline, moving beyond the chronological. For it's always circling back around to its heart, to its peak. To its sixth volume. [HINT: LISTEN INTENTLY LATER FOR THE TENSE CHANGES.]
We've solidified the sunflower's significance in Floriography, yes? Devotion? Now, I'm going to offer another perspective on the saccharine symbolism of Harry's sunflower — a comforting nickname for the person he's addressing throughout the song. And I'm going to bring in some poetry. Oh boy, am I — it's one of my favorites.
Sunflower Sutra is a poem by Beat poet Allen Ginsberg that I can vividly imagine Harry reading and stashing away to his inspiration bank. Ginsberg right beside Brautigan. There's always been this fond love inside me for the Beat Generation, how their writing is dirty, down-to-earth, and weird in the best ways a human could fathom. How the only right way to read their work is to rant it out. It's full of passion, and always about being alive, every part of it — and, truly, I see Fine Line, the album, the same, a celebration of being alive in all the flux. And Sunflower, Vol. 6? You're a part of it, baby!
"A perfect beauty of a sunflower! a perfect excellent lovely sunflower existence! a sweet natural eye to / the new hip moon, woke up alive and excited grasping in the sunset shadow sunrise golden / monthly breeze!"
In my interpretation (to which you are free to disagree with or add to), Ginsberg's sunflower represents something tarnished and battered but can be redeemed and grow in beauty again — all this he ponders alongside Kerouac. An anti-industrialization poem at its core, yes, but I do think it could've inspired Harry in some ways for this song.
I believe Sunflower, Vol. 6 can be read as a romantic reassurance hymn when studied through the lens of Ginsberg's poem. Something, or rather someone, beaten down but with the potential to bloom out of hardships. Maybe two someones. I see this narrative & nuance running rampant through the song and its core relationship. And, again, I believe we find ourselves back at the circle concept. The relationship at the heart of Sunflower, Vol. 6 continues to come back around to domestic comfort, a stabilizer despite their hardships, and I believe this to be a more fleshed-out reason behind the tense shifts seen soon. Though we've been beaten down by these outside forces, we will rise again — with the lesson of not letting circumstances make us believe we're something we're not.
"Poor dead flower? when did you forget you were a flower? when did you look at your skin and / decide you were an impotent dirty old locomotive? the ghost of a locomotive? the specter and / shade of a once powerful mad American locomotive? / You were never no locomotive, Sunflower, you were a sunflower!"
The natural vs. the unnatural. Regarding Sunflower, Vol. 6, the natural here is Harry and his Sunflower, of course. The unnatural is whoever and whatever that is a negative outside force impacting the health of the relationship. Think of infected soil. Sunflower, Vol. 6 invokes such joy when listening, and that's because it's supposed to! It's a happy reassurance of love. Harry reassures his Sunflower that there will always be this sense of devotion, even when things fall. It circles. Like the sun. Like the flower.
"So I grabbed up the skeleton thick sunflower and stuck it at my side like a scepter, / and deliver my sermon to my soul, and Jack's soul too, and anyone who'll listen,"
[VERSE 1] Sunflower, my eyes want you more than a melody Let me inside, wish I could get to know you Sunflowers sometimes keep it sweet in your memory I was just tongue-tied
Sunflower, my eyes want you more than a melody: When you realize how much of a music nerd Harry can be, you'd come around to see just how fucking adorable this line is. He wants to see his Sunflower in person more than he wants to write a song or discover a new melody. More than he wants to envelop himself in his art. His life's passion. Like?? Oh, he's so loverboy for that.
HARRY, THE FOOL IN LOVE. A characterization I feel travels throughout the Fine Line album, in different lights as illustrated in each song. Illustrated multiple moments in this song.
Let me inside, wish I could get to know you: Get out of your dirty mind now. Urban Dictionary has rotted too many brains. He harbors a desire to get to know his Sunflower on a deeper level. Wants to be let inside their head and thoughts (as they're already in his?), their heart (because Sunflower is afraid of love?), and their world (desire to be invested in all that is them, an all-consuming type of infatuation). But, it's the phrasing that piques my intrigue. Wish I could get to know you. Saying wish implies hope, something hard to obtain, a dream almost. It gives off the notion there's some distance — maybe physical, maybe emotional — like there's a reason behind him not being able to fulfill this desire for transparency (something consistently asked for, despite his own character flaw of miscommunication). And, that's exactly what this is to me, another yearning for transparency, trust, and open communication — themes in the Fine Line album. Maybe, just maybe, this is something they're still working on, a hardship they're still trudging through. Maybe Harry doesn't feel he has that agency yet, still working on peeling back his Sunflower's leaves.
Sunflowers sometimes keep it sweet in your memory: He holds onto the good of the relationship rather than focusing on the pitfalls. The growth over the destruction. His memories of his Sunflower remain sweet and sunny by his conscious design. However... there's always been a way I've heard this line and, here I be, shamelessly wondering if anybody else hears it that way, too.
I hear this lyric in two separate intervals: Sunflowers sometimes and Keep it sweet in your memory, as if they're both interrupting the other. Has he gone tongue-tied, like he's about to admit himself to? Almost as if he's going to say something negative, but stops himself with reassurance instead? The reassurance in question is how he'll keep it all sweet in his head, in the melody, for the means of preservation, rather than dwell on the bad. This, then, ties back to the discussion of Ginsberg's poem and how this piece can be heard as a song of reassurance. One where he keeps getting oh so tongue-tied...
I was just tongue-tied: ... And speaking of getting tongue-tied! This common term is used when people can't find the words to communicate — and struggle with communication is one of Harry's common plights explored in his oeuvre. Also, this could be a cheeky little allusion to kissing. Tongues intertwined with each other in passion. And, god, we adore that, too.
[PRE-CHORUS] I don't wanna make you feel bad But I've been trying hard not to talk to you Sunflower (Sunflower, Sunflower!)
I don't wanna make you feel bad / But I've been trying hard not to talk to you: In what I believe to be a continuation of the line before, we witness more struggle with communication. We love an artist with a common theme! Harry makes it clear that it's not his Sunflower's fault, yet feels some intimidation knowing that he won't be able to stop himself from falling like a little boy (TBSL CONNECT / HARRY THE FOOL IN LOVE CONTINUES). Maybe he's had moments where he's tried to disengage out of bad habits but doesn't want his Sunfower to ever feel guilt around his actions. Sometimes he pulls back because of his feelings of embarrassment from being so tongue-tied. Sometimes he pulls back from moments of fear. Just as his Sunflower does, as well.
Sunflower (Sunflower, Sunflower!): A return back to a comforting nickname to soothe them, which brings us further into the Ginsberg-influenced perspective that this is a song of reassurance in romanticisms.
[CHORUS 1] I couldn't want you anymore Kiss in the kitchen like it's a dance floor I couldn't want you anymore Tonight (Tonight, tonight, tonight)
I couldn't want you anymore: Don't know about you, but I think this is such a beautiful way to say I love you. And, there's such a giddiness to it, such joy in the choruses in this part. As mentioned before, he keeps returning to this domestic sweetness and these sunny memories, and you can feel the distinct shift, even if the rest of the song rings joyfully. It's just a different kind of joy here, indicated by different instrumentals as our hint in the ear.
We have also found ourselves sinking into another moment of reassurance, reminding his Sunflower how much he desires them. Which is, again, more signs of devotion.
Kiss in the kitchen like it's a dance floor: Oh, this line. How I love it so! Kissing in the kitchen is a delectable image that emphasizes a commitment to building up a long-term relationship (leans into domestic scenery). Which is, you guessed it, another example of devotion. The added implication is that he wants to move forward, continuing this growth cycle with his Sunflower. As discussed prior with the sunflower's growth stages, stage R-6 is where the decision is made to allow the circle to complete naturally instead of harvesting the sunflowers at stage R-5.
This right here could be a reach of a connection, but I do get a little bell in my head reminding me of Two Ghosts from Harry's eponymous debut, specifically the lyric: THE FRIDGE LIGHT WASHES THIS ROOM WHITE / THE MOON DANCES OVER YOUR GOOD SIDE. Revisiting an older song, reflecting on past relationships, and reflecting on past emotions, then proceeding to flip it on its head. Feeling the improvement and the more healthy situation he's in now. Battered down, but potential for rebirth (Ginsberg's Sunflower Sutra).
I couldn't want you anymore / Tonight (Tonight, tonight, tonight): Then, the signal of devotion is repeated, and this desire can be both physical and emotional. Devotion can lend itself to reassurance, as I believe both are often interwoven. And, can't not give a quick shoutout to the captivating Queen vibes I get from the echoing chorus of tonight, tonight, tonight!
[VERSE 2] Wondering, headshake Tired eyes are the death of me Mouthful of toothpaste before I got to know you I've got your face hung up high in the gallery I love this shade, Sunflower, Sunflower Your flowers just died, plant new seeds in the melody Let me inside, I wanna get to know you
Wondering, headshake / Tired eyes are the death of me: Wondering, still getting to know things about one another often, there are still things left to mystery about his Sunflower. Headshake, a moment of disbelief. He can't believe his eyes, his luck, shaking his head to make sure it's not all just a dream or hallucinatory. Then, his Sunflower's tired eyes are the death of him. He swoons as they wake up together, in a moment where both are unguarded. Implications lead me to assume that they've spent nights at each other's abodes, painting intimacy. Domestic intimacy, with a delicate hand, is what we return to. Sleeping next to one another, waking up next to each other, and ending and starting the day together. Intertwined. The rising and falling of the sun. Another cycle, perhaps? Subtle?
Mouthful of toothpaste before I got to know you: A further continuation of the domestic intimacy illustrated before, as we remain in the same scene — or at least concept. I adore the visual I get from this — honeymoon phase, where he sneaks out of bed to brush his teeth before his Sunflower wakes up. And, with the line, Before I got to know you, it does seem to be an earlier stage. Much like the honeymoon phase. Get what I'm getting at?
I've got your face hung up high in the gallery: A revisitation to adoration, found representation back in the flower itself (Floriography), alongside devotion, etcetera etcetera. His Sunflower's face is hung up high (Golden connect, I believe), in a gallery where he's studying them, in a gallery like they are precious art to be looked upon in wonder. Up high with importance. In this, I believe he's saying that he'll never forget his Sunflower's face, almost memorializing them and their relationship.
"The sixth volume of the sunflower is the catalyst for determining the cycle's fate. Will the flowers be cut down and preserved in a vase temporarily? Or, will the flowers continue with the natural cycle, in a consistent death and rebirth?"
He reassures that he'll never forget them, and finds himself putting his Sunflower on a pedestal — but not having himself hung up high beside them, for he's the one in constant admiration (HARRY, THE FOOL IN LOVE). A manifestation of his appreciation for his Sunflower's beauty and sublimity. From the gallery, Harry can admire them, like one admires and studies a piece of fine art for hours and hours on end. Harry holds such great admiration for them, and they still manage to mystify him all the time.
And, we can't ignore the echo back to Cherry, my other favorite, and how these two songs contrast in both meaning and context — so, to include a line that connects them to one another is a clever move artistically, as it highlights the stark differences with such intent. As the listener moves step-by-step through the stages of grieving set up in the song order — a whole other discussion for another post — we are experiencing the fluctuation of life's experiences, including love. And this is, I feel, a core concept to the Fine Line album, which then trickles down to extend to each song integrated by artist's choice.
I love this shade, Sunflower, Sunflower: Continuing on from the gallery visual, this cute little line... hmm. I have to admit that it did stump me for a little while, trying to draw out any hidden coding and making sure I didn't miss anything. But, in the end, this is what I've concluded for myself. Referencing the shade cast on him from his Sunflower's face hanging in the gallery, he doesn't mind being the one looking up in admiration. In fact, he loves it and relishes it. Much mirroring the nature of a sunflower following the sun up in the sky.
To bring it even further into the rabbit hole, most of what Harry knows in his life is people looking up to him, admiring him, and worshipping him, in response to his fame. So, just maybe, he loves the chance to be the admirer rather than the admired. Then, with sunflower, sunflower, we turn back to the comforting nickname and the soothing reassurance that comes in tow with it.
Your flowers just died, plant new seeds in the melody: Another line that's been wrecked by Urban Dictionary thumpers. I DON'T EVER WRITE OFF DOUBLE ENTENDRES, BUT STOP DISCREDITING THE MAN'S WRITING ABILITIES TO ONLY BEING ABLE TO WRITE ABOUT SEX. K? I'm taking you back to the sunflower's growth cycle again. Remember how we walked about the significance of being on stage R-6? Flowering is complete? What comes after is the beginning of the sunflower seeds ripening to be harvested, for which the flower has to die to make it so. Even in a sunflower's death, they are celebrated and cherished as new life, and the new possibilities found in the seeds that fall. Now, remember how the sunflower's growth cycle metaphorizes the circle Harry and his Sunflower are in? We're getting somewhere, I promise.
Your flowers just died is the first half we're going to focus on. What do these flowers represent? Hopes? Dreams? Something beautiful? Something that couldn't grow or bloom anymore? Possibly representing the ups and downs of life, but the two will find a way through it. The flowers died, but the plant is alive. And still the same flower. Not losing sight of who they are (GINSBERG PARALLEL).
Plant new seeds in the melody is the second half, and then we'll piece them together. In what melody? Well, in this melody! He's using this melody, this song for his Sunflower, as a reassurance (!!!) that they will get through the hardships because his devotion and adoration runs deep. And, then, put them together.
Your flowers just died, plant new seeds in the melody. When you plant the seeds gathered from the wilted sunflower and sow them into the rejuvenated ground, a new flower is reaped that'll run the cycle anew.
Let me inside, I wanna get to know you: There's no more wishing, and now a bit more agency is gained on Harry's side of things. No more wishing, no more hoping, he's here and wants this. He's begging his Sunflower to let himself, then mirroring how earlier in the same verse he said before I got to know you. It's all a circle, a cycle, that goes around and around. A big theme in this song is yearning, to me, and this line makes no exception.
[PRE-CHORUS] I don't wanna make you feel bad But I've been trying hard not to act a fool Sunflower (Sunflower, Sunflower!)
I don't wanna make you feel bad / But I've been trying hard not to act a fool: Can I just interject here to say I love his depiction of him? You know, HARRY, THE FOOL IN LOVE. Present eloquently in this song and others. He reiterates here how he doesn't want his Sunflower to take on guilt for anything. He doesn't want to get it wrong, he doesn't want to say something foolish, but holy shit, they are really making him lose his mind in the name of love.
Sunflower (Sunflower, Sunflower!): To be expected, we circle back around to the comforting nickname for the song's subject, his Sunflower. Reassurance vibrates each time this is brought back into the melody, with new seeds planted for hope each time. And this repetition creates a cyclical effect, which, if you haven't picked up on it, we always return to for this song.
[CHORUS 2 — ADD ON CHORUS] I couldn't want you anymore Kiss in the kitchen like it's a dance floor I couldn't want you anymore Tonight (Tonight, tonight, tonight!) I couldn't want you anymore Kids in the kitchen listen to dancehall I couldn't want you anymore Tonight (Tonight, tonight, tonight!)
I couldn't want you anymore / Kiss in the kitchen like it's a dance floor / I couldn't want you anymore / Tonight (Tonight, tonight, tonight!): More repetition, specifically repetition from the chorus before. Proclaimations of love, domestic intimacy in visuals, proclaiming love again. Repetition is to circling, and circling is to a cycle, and a sunflower is part of a circle/cycle. Both the flower and his Sunflower.
Kids in the kitchen listen to dancehall: Is this a look into the future, the hope for the future he planted before? Or, is it a reference to Harry and his Sunflower themselves? A continuation of domestic visuals from the sweet kitchen we got, either interpretation has a decadent meaning to it.
Picturing kids in the future: He's planted the seeds for a future together, returning to the feeling that Harry believes that what's between the two of them is something that could last. So much so that he's picturing settling down with his Sunflower, with dance parties in the kitchen to joyous music he introduced them to, and then bringing the joy radiating from the two of them into a whole family. A beautiful concept!
The two as children: This could be a proper extension of the other visual in the first chorus, where Harry's referring to himself and his Sunflower as the "kids" in question. Kids in love, fools in love (HARRY, THE FOOL IN LOVE!). He just keeps on picturing domestic bliss for the two of them. Kissing and dancing in the kitchen together as he shares parts of himself, what he loves, with his Sunflower.
[BRIDGE] Sunflower, my eyes want you more than a melody Let me inside, wish I could get to know you Sunflowers just died, keep it sweet in your memory I'm still tongue-tied Sunflower, Sunflower
Sunflowers just died, keep it sweet in your memory: Even when something in life has come to a close, it doesn't mean you can't look upon it fondly, and even in death doesn't mean there can't be rebirth. With this shift from your flowers to sunflowers, it's as if he's addressing his own metaphor and symbolism. A return to the core's devotion, the romanticism of the circle of the sunflower, and the parallel circle of the relationship. Sunflowers can represent, also, spectrums of the life cycle (youth, vitality, hopefulness, etc). Even in their death, they're celebrated, as their seeds promise new life and new purpose.
Through this piece, Harry is celebrating the beginning, the middle, and even the possibility of an end to his relationship with his Sunflower. He's cherishing when they were blooming with love, immortalizing that vibrant time in these melodies. When they were growing, flowering with idyllic dreams of domesticity. But, simultaneously, he's memorializing when they ran into moments of ruin — from which I believe this song was born.
I'm still tongue-tied: A purposeful mirroring of the line I was just tongue-tied, furthermore completely that circle thing that I know I'm getting repetitive reminding you of. But it's important, okay? He still can't find the words, he feels he still can't express his devotion to its fullness, and this entire song was him trying to explain it all! And, even in the song, he finds himself stumbling. No matter how long or how short this relationship lasts with his Sunflower, he will always be tongue-tied, baffled, and a bit lovestruck (HARRY, THE FOOL IN LOVE). His adoration for and devotion to this person takes away all self-control, wondering, headshake in constant disbelief.
[OUTRO] Sunflower, Sunflower Sunflower, Sunflower Ayy, woo, ow Woo-woo, woo-woo (x3) Yeah! Ooh, woo, ooh Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo
Hahaha, that was so fun to type out. The outro! How it fills me with such joy! The outro mirrors the intro with the last (comprehensible) thing he says being Sunflower, Sunflower before we lean into random noises that further show, you guessed it, HARRY, THE FOOL IN LOVE. And it's so fun to try and sing along to, and in that, we become a fool in love right beside him. This non-verbal section, raw emotion bursting through the seams, closes off the song in a moment of euphoria. Dipping down to go into Woo-woo or, as I like to hear it, Boop-boop — which is us listening in as he plants the seeds to nurture the flower (the relationship) as we continue to spin in this circle of love and hardship. With added reassurance. And added devotion.
We return to the knowledge about sunflowers — oh boy, I'm getting annoying — and how they're celebrated in their vitality, but also in their death because of the seeds they provide, even as they wilt. Harry is symbolically planting seeds in the melody, in Sunflower, Vol. 6, to grow more, bloom more, and maybe start anew with a perspective more rounded out.
The sunflower that's fallen can rise again, celebrated in death as much as in life. Even if this euphoria with his Sunflower ends, Harry is left with seeds of knowledge — of love, affection, and devotion — that he can plant and start a rebirth and rejuvenation in himself. And even further, whether it's both theirs or something separate. The Sunflower, his Sunflower, has taught him a lot about how vibrant things can be, and how much of a fool in love he can be, even after all the moments of heartbreak and grieving that have followed him.
I stand behind my claim that Sunflower, Vol. 6 is one of Harry's most romantic and genius songs. I mean, truly. I can't picture how one could even begin to deny it — this is a boy who loves love. A fucking fool in love. And I adore him and his romanticism of devotion so badly. Told through the subtle messaging of a flower metaphor? My goodness, sign me the fuck up.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
🌻Core Lyric
I believe every song has one lyric that encompasses the song as an entity. For Sunflower, Vol.6, the core lyric is:
"keep it sweet in your memory"
I chose this as the core lyric because the entire song represents reassurance and devotion, but also this sense of memorialization. Even as the relationship with his Sunflower comes to a natural end, he will take seeds with him to sow and reap the rewards of what he's learned in future relationships, yes, but also in himself alone. This song is a romantic reassurance, but it can also be heard as a tribute, as they stay in his head. Their impact remains in the back of his mind. Naturally, these are all themes already explored, but you get the picture. So, keep Sunflower, Vol. 6 sweet in your memory. Because I have the minute I heard it the first time. Now, always, in the back of my mind — and hopefully, now, yours too.

Thank you for reading, you're absolutely incredible!

Wanted to give a small weekend update on my garden. As of 6/15:
Here’s a small harvest of blackberries, a super sweet 100 cherry tomato and an heirloom cucumber my dad’s going to use for pickling.
Tumblr media
I got a couple new flowers from Lowe’s: A white Vinca (Periwinkle) and a confetti Lantana.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And the direct-sow garden.
We have flowers, corn, tomatoes, cucumbers, pole beans and peppers growing in this garden.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The corn with the yellow/orange lantana has silk growing inside the stalks and while we haven’t gotten any tomatoes yet from this garden, there are clumps of flowers on most of the tomato plants.
While it’s mostly been a pleasant experience, I will say that the rabbits in my area have been absolute menaces. They’ve wrecked 10 tomato seedling plants, 5 flowering pepper plants, 3 corn, and the one pole bean that’s been producing.
Despite that, everything else is doing great. The melon patch is thriving, the grape vines have clumps of grapes all over, the peach tree still has the 4 peaches on them and they are getting slightly bigger and turning color (though they are about golf ball-sized). The blueberries are doing good and the 1 fruiting bush I have has had over 10 berries picked so far. The rest of the trees are doubling size (I suspect they are about 1-2yrs old so are focused on growing instead of producing).
I hope to post more pictures soon I’ve just been really busy lately to really journal everything.
Happy gardening everyone💙🌱🌿

Brothership posting: Heatfreeze Island and sidequests.
Sorry for the temporary hiatus; I had to watch WALL-E for a project in Astronomy class, and it took up the time I would normally spend playing Brothership.
- So, because of the whole Burnadette and Chilliam thing I maaaay have misread this island's name as "Heartfreeze Island" at first.
- As I've said before, there's nothing more Nintendo than a combined ice-fire area.
- Blah blah blah, competing villagers needing to get along, yadda yadda yadda, cliche cliche cliche.
- I made the mistake of poking (hammering, actually) one of those sleeping bear-armadillo things, and the only reason I survived the fight is that Mario and Luigi were both at full health and, powerful as it was, it couldn't quite do enough damage in one turn to K.O. anyone. So I blasted it with Bros. Attacks and it didn't get a second turn.
- Also, isn't it crazy how it got to attack first even though it was sleeping when we first-striked it?
- I have a feeling that the second statue's desire to see people, or at least thank the first statue, will eventually become a sidequest.
- For some reason, there's just this one part of the island's background music that makes "NO COMEBACK, THIS IS THE LAST TIME!" pop into my head every single time.
- On that note, I forgot to mention that part of the Color-full Sea Great Lighthouse Island's background music sounds like the chiming opening to "A Lotta Locomotion", so insert "if I had a nickel" meme here.
- Oh, and that reminds me of something I completely forgot to post about back when I just started playing- why is there a train whistle sound effect when the buds open after you connect an island?
- Now onto sidequests: When I did the Bulbfish Island one, I thought the answer to "what book is in the assistant's office" would be "his diary", so I didn't think to go back and check- and even if I had just in case, I didn't know you could interact with the bookshelves to look at the books within.
- As for Monster Mania 2: As soon as I heard that the empowered monsters were Hydro Seedles, I guessed that the gimmick would have to do with their healing, AND I WAS RIGHT.
- I thought the trick would be to kill them in one hit so they can't be healed, but they had high enough HP that I just couldn't manage to do that; after I eventually gave up, I found out that I wasn't actually able to beat them with my current abilities (if you knew that why did you still let me fight, Monster Maniac No. 2), and apparently there's some Battle Plug out there that prevents enemy heali-erm, "damage recovery".
BONUS: WALL-E thoughts
- So, as many other people have said, WALL-E is adorable, as is EVE.
- I knew a decent amount about the film beforehand from pop-culture osmosis, but I was NOT expecting EVE to be that trigger-happy.
- I love the detail of how every other robot WALL-E interacts with gains a bit of personality- M-O hops off the line for the first time in his life, that typer bot (which I thought was a sample-taker) learns to wave...
- Somehow, this even applies to Mary, a HUMAN, as when WALL-E shuts off her holoscreen she starts actually noticing the world around her.
- Also I love how the Axiom's garbage "dump" is infested with computer mice.
- The whole purpose of the assignment was to analyze the scientific accuracy of the film when it comes to astronomy, and I'm going to fill my submission with talk about common astronomy errors from cartoons that nobody actually seems to notice, stuff like:
- > Shots set in the Solar System with inexplicable eye-catching nebulae and such visible.
- > Stars "twinkling" by expanding into four-pointers and spinning around.
- > Stars twinkling (whether correctly or incorrectly) in shots set in space.

[A video is posted.
When was it taken? Shardy's account has been quiet for a couple of days, but it's not like he doesn't get distracted. Perhaps he's been finally having some non-fraught family time with his brother and this is going to be a heartwarming gardening video?
It's certainly his brother's back garden on camera, and the time seems to be roughly mid-afternoon. Shardy- presumably- is walking towards the thoroughly overgrown far end, stepping over brambles and fungi and past fast-growing shrubs until he reaches the shed. Close-up it's even worse than it looked from the window, the planks warped and mossy, the small window's glass long since shattered, the door forced open against its hinges by intruding plantlife. The only part of it that seems largely untouched, other than the usual rust and wear from outdoor living, is the corrugated metal roof.
Shardy pats it affectionately, and says "Dad used to start seedlings in here. He had a little greenhouse but that fell apart years ago. Before he died."
The camera moves upwards slightly as the nearby branches sway in a sudden breeze; above them, pale clouds scud across a colourless sky. Without further comment Shardy moves onwards; now the vegetation is thick enough he has to actively push it out of the way, grunting faintly as he tries to keep it out of his face, hissing as prickles and twigs and jagged leaves snag on his clothing and his bared forearms.
"Have to put my gloves on if this keeps up," he comments.
As if in answer, a bramble-vine with thorns as thick as a thumbjoint scores an open wound through browned skin and hair, and a fat bead of blood wells up and races downwards to gather for a second at the end of flesh and then drop.
There's a sound that isn't Shardy's breathing or the crunch of boots on forest floor; the camera view drops as fast as the blood had and shows a tiny Morelull, translucent cap splattered with crimson.
It's looking up at Shardy; it's not easy to read the expression on a miniature mushroom Pokemon at the best of times, but this one seems especially indecipherable.
"Hi," says Shardy. Then he adds, "Sorry for bleeding on you."
"Lull," says the Pokemon, which could mean anything from 'it's fine' to 'get fucked, dickhead', and turns without haste to vanish amid the mass of roots behind it. Shardy breathes out, slow and just a little shaky, and moves to continue his journey.
He only needs to move a few more branches before they thin out before him, last few leaves brushing the lens of the camera like a benediction, the sound of his footsteps suddenly muffled.
And now the light has dimmed and thickened from the washed-out sun of early Autumn to a deep dusk that barely recognises the turn of the seasons, and now ancient trees rise up on either side with trunks so wide no human could hope to span them, and now fungi as wide across as he is tall lean towards him as glittering spores drift lazily from their gills.
The old fence, visible from the window in previous photographs, still stubbornly delineating the border between normal human property and somewhere else, must have been in much worse disrepair than it looked. After all, there was no sign of it once Shardy passed the shed.
"Are we doing it this way today?" Shardy asks, apparently addressing thin air. There's silence; he walks a few more steps forward. "Full on ooky spooky right from the get go?"
It's very difficult to tell when the Rapidash appears. Between one frame and the next it's there, standing just ahead. As soon as the camera pans over it the recording starts to glitch; it sticks and skips as artifacting drags mangled rainbows across the scene, and the Pokemon's elegant lines are warped by stutters into strange, stretched angles.
The last thing audible before it shuts off entirely is Shardy's voice, peaked and distorted by interference but unmistakeably rather annoyed.
"Oh, and you can fuck right off too."]

This post is a continuation of the growing seedlings in my apartment, since that one got very long! If you want to read about growing little seeds from the start in your home, you can read that too.
Last time I set some seeds in damp paper towels, and sealed them in a plastic bag in order to germinate them; it's been a few days, so I'm checking if any have germinated yet. And they have!
Tumblr media
This is how the tiny germinated seeds look like, they've started growing roots in random direction since they're in a paper towel. Some of them still didn't germinate, so I wrapped them back in, and they'll activate in a day or two. The basil seed that looks like a little snake in the bottom, has already went a little too far; the plant has already abandoned the shell and I can see little leaves are out, I'm not sure if that one is going to make it, but I'll give it a best shot. The rest looks good! I'm going to plant them.
From this step on, one must treat the germinated seeds very gently; if you break that very fragile sprout, they're done for, that is all they have to collect nutrients with. The seeds only have as much energy stored in them as it takes to break the seed, get out, open first two leaves, and grow their roots an inch or so, for every step after that, they're relying on those leaves to collect the sunlight, and then later, roots to draw nutrients from the soil. So they're just a little blob of energy and potential that has been awakened and is now testing the world for survival ability.
I prepared some soil and cups, and filled the cups with damp soil, just like the last time. I'm going to gently place the seeds just a tiny bit under the soil, so they don't have a lot of trouble getting out. Then I'm peppering bit of airy soil on them, again, very gently so nothing breaks. Then I'm spraying them with water, they should never dry out, and placing labels on all of them because it's impossible to remember what you put where. This isn't a lot of seeds to plant at once, this method usually germinates slowly across a few days, so you're never overwhelmed with how much there is to plant, and I appreciate that.
Tumblr media
Since all of my cups have holes at the bottom, for drainage, I'm putting them into watertight plastic containers.
Tumblr media
And then they're joining the gang! I've marked all plants in the picture that have broken out of soil.
Tumblr media
This isn't the usual way to plant things; normally people will sow the seeds in late February or early March, and sow exactly the amount they need, that is not what I'm doing right now. I'm putting these seeds early, because if they make it, they're going to make a first wave of early plants. I will risk planting them out earlier, and if they don't die of frostbite, they're going to be the best established, most early producing plants. They'll give me food sooner than the rest of the garden would. This risk paid off for every single year I did it, and these plants would grow to be the biggest and the strongest.
Now, growing these seeds inside so early in January might be frustrating, because it will happen very slow, with low success rate, notice some of my first seeds didn't even get out, but that doesn't bother me, because I'm basically going to germinate new seeds every two weeks, so that I could plant them in waves. The reason why it's going so slow right now, is merely because of how little hours of the sunlight we have. If you're ever growing plants in fall or winter and they're not thriving or they're dying and being unhappy or leggy or sick, it's often got nothing to do with you, and everything to do with the weather, temperature, and the amount of sun there is in the day. When the weather gets sunny, light, warm, damp, even slightly windy, these plants will start growing like nobody's business. It's the same with the garden as well, if it's not regularly blessed with sun and rain, it will be slow and annoying, and then bursting with growth as soon as it gets rained on. Hours of the light in the day determine how fast your plant is going to grow, and if you're relying on the sun like me, you can't really do much about it, just keep your plants in the lightest spot in your place.
Planting in March is way more satisfying because the plants will make progress in a week, what plants in January make in a month. Those hours of sunlight add up! But, I want some early plants, and I love to gaze at the slow growing babies too, so I will make it thru this.

~Welcome to the February Garden~
Hello everyone! It‘s been a while since I‘ve posted about the balcony garden. I went on vacation in the fall and after that the garden work was not so terribly interesting. A few things were „growing“ over winter, so now that the days are finally above freezing and the sun has decided to make a few featured appearances, they are beginning to perk up.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Qeue the few crops that were planted in fall: lettuces, spinach and carrots. I hope for some delicious salads in the coming weeks!
The sowing season has also started in my zone. My make-shoft propagation station from last year is up and running again.
Tumblr media
Not the most aesthetically pleasing set up I‘ve ever seen, but it keeps the seedlings warm and moist, but most importantly, it keeps the fuzziest member of the family from pulling up the seedlings as soon as they sprout.
Tumblr media
Speaking of seedlings: Look at these little guys! I‘ve just now been able to separate them each into their own little cell. Its hard to believe that fully grown plants will one day come from these two tiny little leaves. Nature is simply incredible! I‘m looking forward to another year of experimentation and tasty home grown fruits and veggies. I hope you join me along for the ride.
Until next time,
~L~

since you asked me why did i like Isildur in the silm (under my silm post) I've been thinking about how he snuck in to take a seedling of the White tree in order to save it and I'm just imagining him in some sleek numenorean spy outfit outwitting the guards ✨✨✨
bro literally risked his whole life for a tree and i respect that 😌💛
also he literally cut off saurons hand and when he ended up having the ring he was like HMM a magical artifact?? You know what i should do?? WRITE ABOUT IT! so he's a confirmed badass AND nerd 😚
Tumblr media
and in Rings of Power also a confirmed chaotic cutie 💕
He DID risk everything for a tree 😂 Relatable (I say, struggling to take care of my plants).
At least he wrote about the Ring so there was a record… Should have thrown it into the fire, but whatever.
I will answer your ask about why I love Glorfindel soon! I’m trying to put my many thoughts into words. 😭

Hey, anons! Thanks so much for reaching out! I wanted to hit both of these since they're pretty similar (and were sent ages ago, whoops). So...
Yes to Hinny war-era stories. I have a few more pieces drafted to wrap up my DH missing moments series, which features a few different characters. But I have a couple of Hinny one-shots to be posted very soon... 👀
Tumblr media
And the Long Thing! Psyched and a little nervous that you gathered that from previous posts. Mentally, I've been trying to get to a place where I can start dropping chapters, leaving my little seedlings out on their own in the forest... but man, it feels weird that once it's out there (unfinished!), I can't take it back. A million kudos to other longfic writers, this shit is scary!
Tumblr media
Long (long) story short: it's coming. Hit a few roadblocks, but the first few chapters are getting super close to where I want them. This is a fic I've had outlined for ages, one that I've had bits and pieces written for since back in my Fictionalley/Wattpad days. Think: plenty of Hinny, plenty of crunchy, gooey self-discovery, plenty of post-Armistice Hemingway vibes.
Also: one of my posted works is secretly an alternate POV missing moment that will eventually fit right in 🤫
Maybe that's enough to pique interest? I'll have to take a page from all of my very very talented mutuals' books on the whole self-promo thing.

-this is the only way I can think of describing this mood/interest and it's not even a complete phrase, just adjectives of the aesthetic -I'm just listing movies and books that illustrate this to me ▪ Currently Reading: Brutes by Dizz Tate ▪ Currently Watching: Jean Rollin's vampire films: The Shiver of the Vampires (1971), Fascination (1979), The Living Dead Girl (1982), Two Orphan Vampires (1997) ⚰ ▪ on my book wishlist is Mine-Haha: or On the Bodily Education of Young Girls by Frank Wedekind, which was adapted into the film Innocence (2004) 🌳 ▪ I swear I had other things to put here, but I can always do updates posts later -taken from one of my Letterboxd tags "ethereal femme horror" which I started/came up with when I first watched a couple Jean Rollin films late last summer
🏹 [Also, Fairytale + Moody and Ethereal Femme = my "growing up in a land far far away" list on LB]
💘 𝚃𝚑𝚎 𝚁𝚘𝚖𝚊𝚗𝚝𝚒𝚌𝚜
-in October I watched Haunted Summer (1988) and rewatched Gothic (1986) and in doing so I realized I haven't read much from Lord Byron. I then bought his Selected Poems and Don Juan 📜 -reading his work is also likely to lead to finding a biography about him, and works by and about the other Lake Geneva attendees: Mary Wollstonecraft (Shelley), Percy Bysshe Shelley, Claire Clairmont, John Polidori (I have previously read Frankenstein and The Vampyre)
💘 ᑘᘉᕼᓰᘉᘜᘿᕲ ᘺᓍᘻᘿᘉ / ᖴᘿᘻᗩᒪᘿ ᖇᗩᘜᘿ
-at the beginning of January I really wanted to start reading Boy Parts by Eliza Clark, but soon afterwards I found out an internet booktube friend died suddenly, so I was a little out of it last month. Boy Parts was actually on her 2024 tbr, so I definitely want to get to it soon when the spur strikes again. 📷 -honestly, since finding out about her death, though it has taken me some time, I'm even more determined to get to books and movies I've been wanting to read and to watch for years! things I've put off because of high expectations or whatever. things I think will be new all-time favs, 5/5 stars, etc. I'm going to read them! and one of those is A Certain Hunger by Chelsea G. Summers 🍖🍇 -I'm now realizing, when you think about it, certain Jean Rollin films could probably be categorized here 🧛🏼‍♀️

Seedling, where is your favorite place to go when you seek peace?
Tumblr media
He finds the most comforting places to be around fields of lowers!
Tumblr media
(The skies in Yggdran's realm are majorily red because of the ''sun'' or ''moon'' having an immense red filter.)
Here's a new bonus lore nugget for you..
Tumblr media
This ask post has been in my inbox for a while since I haven't worked on the seedling for quite some time. But I had some inspiration today. The lore nugget is also something that's been in my brain for some time, but I won't be expanding on it until I give Bloodbringer a proper redesign. (some minor changes, better refsheet, color adjustments.)
I might make a new post about an oc for asks soon, but folks can ask specific questions about them or address it to them at any point, just make sure its not something that would have me explain or spoiler lore openly. ''What's your favorite food?'' is not lore-breaking since I don't have to explain anything, I can just draw the answer.

**Tap tap** Hi?
Tumblr media
It’s been forever. I kind of ragequit after my last post that I’d spent 1000 hours typing and editing and adding photos to got eaten and the idea of trying to recreate that masterpiece was beyond my abilities.
I’ve still lurked. Just scared of getting burned again by the post editing god of chaos and mischief.
Tumblr media
It’s gearing up toward gardening time again. I am a mother of baby chickens. I have successfully planted seedlings that are growing and thriving and actually look like real plants that seem like they will live when we are out of our frost dates and not wispy, sickly-looking microgreen sprouts that will whither and die the second sun touches their precious foliage. I started a “normal” blog (one that my oppressively normal in-laws know about and read and talk to me about irl), that is fun to occasionally maintain but isn’t weird enough for me to be excited to write more often? I don’t know, but my Impostor Syndrome flares up hard when I post on that blog because I feel like more of a projection of me pretending to be normal than actual me.
Tumblr media
It’s, like… respectable or something. I’ve never been respectable. I don’t know what to do with my hands. I’m not providing a link to it in this post because I want to express myself here and not feel like I’m shilling for clicks or something. If you’re curious, it’s not hard to figure out if you look at my username.
Tumblr media
The asparagus and rhubarb are growing. The Asian pear, apple, and cherry trees are blooming. My peach trees are showing signs of life. Soon—very, very soon—we’ll be spending our days in the garden, and moving the baby chicks into their coop, and watching things grow (and hopefully flourish). Soon—very, very soon—my muscles and bones will ache and my nails will be stained with soil from the work I’ll be doing expanding our growing area, filling raised beds, and planting over a hundred asparagus crowns. It’s gonna be awesome.
Tumblr media
For now, my life is baby chickens and waiting for a warm and non-rainy day for them to have their first outdoor adventure. They’re outrageously cute and funny.
All that being said, I just really want to be weird on the internet again. Provided this stupid app doesn’t do stupid shit like losing a post again, I’m hoping that I can get my weirdness fix here.
Tumblr media
Btw… it’s not lost on me how fucking normal this post is and that I am referencing some future time that I will be weird but not actually be weird right now.

good morning!!
hello all (: i’m so sorry for not making my nightly “zZzZzZz” post last night, i literally passed out watching spider-man 2 (2004) [i’d never seen any of the sam raimi spider-mans so my roommate and i have been watching them and they are so interesting sksksks like they’re REALLY rom-coms above everything else 😭 and james franco 🫦 but only physically lmao he sucks]
i’m here now though! i’m at work butttt i just wanted to say that i’m so grateful for all of your support, love, and feedback on my works! it means so much to me to hear how the works are making you all feel, and that you’re loving the depth of the worlds and everything 😭 i know they’re not perfect, but…
not to get too deep and sentimental, for about 2-3 years (especially during covid), i thought i’d never write again. i was in such a deep depression, and my support system had convinced me that my passion had fizzled even though i knew it hadn’t. i couldn’t write, i couldn’t read; it felt like everything i’d loved all my life had slipped through my fingers like sand, and that i’d never be able to grasp it again.
this tumblr has been a part of me grabbing my passion again. i was in school for creative writing because words and telling stories are where i feel most comfortable with myself and my expression. dropping out was a tough decision for a lot of reasons, but seeing this blog blossom beyond anything i could’ve imagined reaffirmed me that everything works out when you choose yourself, your happiness, your dreams!
you all are apart of changing my life, and ironically, i don’t think i’ll ever be able to find the words to express my gratitude. my lore has been altered, and this is something that will impact me forever, so thank you thank you thank you to every single person who’s read, liked, reblogged, commented, sent me a message, asked to be on my taglist, everything!! thank you for everything, i am SO grateful.
i wasn’t expecting the new brothersbestfriend!mike fic to pop off as much as it did tbh 😭 so i’m starting to draft the sequel to mimosa! if i go through with my idea, it’s going to be fucking nuts sksksksk (as are most things i write/think) so please prepare…it’ll be a time, for sure.
also working on the adventures of reader and everyone’s favorite pornstar <3 this next one is gonna be so fucking cute, i’m excited <<<<<:
got some other things in the works too, but nothing i’m saying anything about. you’ll just have to wait and seeeeeee 🤭
okay, okay. very long message from me. i love talking, and i (obviously) love words, but i also love you guys 💜 maybe no post today or this weekend, but i’ll be around of course and i will be writing! next week will be exciting times 🥳
hope everyone is having the best day/night! talk with all of you beautiful seedlings soon 💜 (also, thank you for 900 followers wtf 😭 i have to do something special for 1000 so please send me any suggestions!)
