► Dans sa RKK Niouzletter hebdomadaire, Rémy Kolpa Kopoul annonça ainsi l’artiste programmée le 7 mai 2012 lors de sa soirée Lundi c’est Rémy au Comedy Club : ▼

“On l’a connue il y a une dizaine d’années avec un duo délicieusement trip hop oriental, made in Liban, Soapkills, qui fait encore les belles heures de Radio Nova. Installée à Paris, la belle Yasmine Hamdan revient avec un projet solo orchestré par l’homme de Nouvelle Vague, Marc Collin. Un album tout simplement titré “Yasmine Hamdan” (Kwaidan Records), et toujours cette trouble magie orientale entre deux siècles. Un belle (re)découverte.” ► L’adjectif “belle” utilisé à trois reprises en quelques lignes : le ConneXionneur était manifestement troublé par le charme de l’ensorceleuse... 

L’année suivante, parût chez Hamdanistan Records / Crammed Discs une version remaniée du disque, intitulée “Ya Nass”. Au cinéma, Yasmine Hamdan en interpréta un des morceaux, Hal, dans une scène captivante du long-métrage “Only Lovers Left Alive” (réalisé par Jim Jarmush). ▼

En sélection officielle du Festival de Cannes 2013, le film sortit dans les salles françaises le 19 février 2014. Quelques jours plus tard, le 24, Yasmine Hamdan revint au Comedy Club pour participer en musique à la célébration du RKK’nniversaire ! ▼

Les trois titres (Deny, Beirut & Shouei) que Yasmine Hamdan enregistra pour NPR, dans le cadre intimiste d’un Tiny Desk Concert, illustrèrent les qualités de son répertoire dans ses sonorités acoustiques... ▼

... tandis que son apparition au Festival Arabesques, le 23/05/14 (domaine d’O, Montpellier), en démontra l’efficacité scénique et électrique. ▼

Le 4 mai 2015, Yasmine Hamdan retrouva une dernière fois le Comedy Club lors d’une triste circonstance. Au lendemain du décès de Rémy Kolpa Kopoul, parmi de nombreuses personnalités, elle lui rendit un hommage émouvant. ▼

Ce vendredi 17/03/17, est publié “Al Jamilat” (Crammed Discs) qui rassemble onze nouvelles compositions, co-produites avec les Britanniques Luke Smith et Leo Abrahams et sur lesquelles jouent, en particulier, le batteur Steve Shelley et le multi-instrumentiste d’origine pakistanaise Shahzad Ismaily. ▼

La Ba-den, premier extrait dont la vidéo est signée Elia Suleiman (cinéaste palestinien et tendre époux), n’autorise aucun doute. Rémy avait raison : de ces femmes magnifiques (traduction de Al Jamilat), la belle Yasmine Hamdan présente tous les atours.  LL ▼

[Winston Tong] [Theoretical China] [1984][12 Inch Single] Once again a B.side is better than the A side. . Winston Tong, well known as a long-time and important band member of "Tuxedomoon", offers two tracks on this single release that could not be more different. The title track is a typical electro pop song of the 1980s, but due to Winston Tong's melancholic voice, Jah Wobble's great bass and Alan Rankine's wonderful guitar playing, it sounds quite different from the usual electro pop. . On the B-side, on the other hand, is an epic masterpiece in a class of its own. The 16-minute track "The Hunger" can't really be put into words! It is neither Electro Pop nor New or Dark Wave. In the best Tuxedomoon manner, the track is more of an avant-garde and minimalist radio play in the tradition of Japanese theatre performances with such fascinating instruments as "Koto" or "Shamisen" which form a captivating sound framework for the pain-filled vocals of Niki Mono and Winston Tong. . A feast for the ears and the imagination!
