Construction Contractors and Government Projects: Inside the UK Framework
Tumblr media
The construction industry in the United Kingdom is a dynamic and ever-evolving sector that plays a vital role in shaping the nation's infrastructure. Within this industry, construction contractors are the backbone, responsible for executing a wide range of projects, including those commissioned by the government. In this blog, we will delve into the intricacies of the UK public sector framework, exploring the significance of government projects, the role of construction contractors, and the unique challenges and opportunities they face.
Government Projects: The Backbone of the UK
Government projects in the UK encompass a diverse range of initiatives, from building and maintaining public infrastructure to developing healthcare facilities, schools, and government buildings. These projects have a significant impact on the nation's economic growth, public services, and overall quality of life. As such, they are a cornerstone of the construction industry, and they represent a substantial portion of the sector's revenue.
The Significance of Construction Contractors
Construction contractors are instrumental in translating government visions into tangible structures. They are involved in various stages of the project lifecycle, from planning and design to construction and maintenance. Their responsibilities include:
Tendering: Contractors participate in competitive bidding processes to secure government contracts, often based on a framework agreement. Winning a government contract is a mark of prestige and a testament to a contractor's capabilities.
Project Execution: Once a contract is awarded, the contractor takes charge of the construction process. This involves meticulous planning, resource allocation, labor management, and adherence to quality and safety standards.
Compliance: Government projects come with an array of regulations, standards, and compliance requirements. Contractors must navigate this intricate landscape to ensure that projects meet all legal and safety criteria.
Community Impact: Government projects have a significant impact on local communities. Contractors play a crucial role in minimizing disruptions and fostering positive relationships with residents and stakeholders.
Challenges Faced by Construction Contractors in Government Projects
While the opportunity to work on government projects is highly regarded, it comes with a unique set of challenges:
Competition: The construction industry is highly competitive. Contractors often face stiff competition from established players and must consistently demonstrate their capabilities to secure government contracts.
Regulatory Complexity: Navigating the complex web of regulations and standards can be daunting. Government projects require strict adherence to various legal and safety requirements, making compliance a constant challenge.
Budget Constraints: Government projects often come with stringent budget limitations. Contractors must find ways to deliver high-quality work within these constraints, sometimes necessitating innovative cost-saving measures.
Public Scrutiny: Government projects are closely watched by the public, and contractors are held to high standards. Any delays, quality issues, or disputes can result in negative publicity and potential legal challenges.
Opportunities in Government Projects
Despite the challenges, government projects offer unique opportunities for construction contractors:
Stability: Government projects tend to be more stable and long-term, providing a predictable stream of work for contractors.
Diversification: Working on government projects allows contractors to diversify their portfolio and gain experience in various sectors, such as healthcare, education, transportation, and infrastructure.
Reputation: Successful completion of government projects enhances a contractor's reputation, making them more attractive to future clients, both in the public and private sectors.
Innovation and Sustainability: Government projects often prioritize innovation and sustainability. Contractors can leverage these opportunities to showcase their cutting-edge technologies and environmentally-friendly practices.
The Role of Framework Agreements
Framework agreements are a critical element of government projects in the UK. These agreements define the terms and conditions under which contractors can bid on projects. They often categorize contractors based on their capabilities and experience, providing a streamlined process for government agencies to select suitable candidates for specific projects.
Key Takeaways and Future Prospects
In conclusion, Contractors play an essential role in delivering government projects that shape the United Kingdom's infrastructure and public services. While these projects present challenges, they also offer invaluable opportunities for growth, reputation enhancement, and innovation. The presence of framework agreements simplifies the process, ensuring that competent contractors are readily available to undertake government initiatives.
The future of Contractors in government projects holds significant promise. With a focus on sustainability, innovation, and adherence to high standards, these projects will continue to be a driving force in the UK's development. As the nation evolves, so too will the role of contractors in shaping a brighter, more sustainable future.
In a constantly changing landscape, construction contractors will remain at the forefront, constructing not just buildings and infrastructure, but the foundation of a better and more prosperous United Kingdom.

Okay so like…
“I think transandrophobia is inherently a bad framework for discussing transmasculine issues”
Is fine and all.
But the thing is?
So many of us feel underserved by the existing frameworks people are using to describe our experiences for us, which is why we’re trying to come up with a framework at all.
And so just saying “trans men and mascs shouldn’t be using this framework” in the face of that sounds a lot like “and so you should go back to other people describing your experiences for you” because of an entire lack of suggesting any other framework.
Build your own frameworks to discuss this stuff if you’d like, if you think the way those of us using the word transandrophobia are doing a poor job. That’s totally fine. But that’s not what these people are really saying, when you look at it, because they’re not using any other framework to discuss these things. They’re not showing us better frameworks or working toward making those better frameworks. They’re just saying “what you’re doing isn’t good enough” and that’s it. That’s where I’m failing to see any good-will behind this new angle of coming after those of us who are talking about transandrophobia.

I used to like saying "gender is a social construct," but I stopped saying that because people didn't tend to react well - they thought that I was saying gender wasn't real, or didn't matter, or could be safely ignored without consequences. Which has always baffled me a bit as an interpretation, honestly, because many things are social constructs - like money, school, and the police - and they certainly have profound effects on your life whether or not you believe in them. And they sure don't go away if you ignore them.
Anyway. What I've taken to saying instead is, "gender is a cultural practice." This gives more of a sense of respect for the significance gender holds to many people. And it also opens the door to another couple layers of analysis.
Gender is cultural. It is not globally or historically homogeneous. It shifts over time, develops differently in different communities, and can be influenced by cross-cultural contact. Like many, many aspects of culture, the current status of gender is dramatically influenced by colonialism. Colonial gender norms are shaped by the hierarchical structure of imperialist society, and enforced onto colonized cultures as part of the project of imperial cultural hedgemony.
Gender is practiced. What constitutes a gender includes affects and behaviors, jobs or areas of work, skillsets, clothing, collective and individual practices of gender affiliation and affirmation. Any or all of these things, in any combination, depending on the gender, the culture, and the practitioner.
Gender encompasses shared cultural archetypes. These can include specific figures - gods and goddesses, mythic or fictional characters, etc - or they can be more abstract or general. The Wise Woman, Robin Hood, the Dyke, the Working Man, the Plucky Heroine, the Effete Gay Man, etc etc. The range of archetypes does not circumscribe a given gender, that is, they're not all there is to gender. But they provide frameworks and reference points by which people relate to gender. They may be guides for ways to inhabit or practice a gender. They may be stereotypes through which the gendered behavior of others is viewed.
Gender as a framework can be changed. Because it is created collectively, by shared acknowledgement and enforcement by members of society. Various movements have made significant shifts in how gender is structured at various times and places. The impact of these shifts has been widely variable - for example, depending on what city I'm in, even within my (fairly culturally homogeneous) home country, the way I am gendered and reacted to changes dramatically. Looping back to point one, we often speak of gender in very broad terms that obscure significant variability which exists on many scales.
Gender is structured recursively. This can be seen in the archetypes mentioned above, which range from extremely general (say, the Mother) to highly specific (the PTA Soccer Mom). Even people who claim to acknowledge only two genders will have many concepts of gendered-ways-of-being within each of them, which they may view and react to VERY differently.
Gender is experienced as an external cultural force. It cannot be opted out of, any more than living in a society can be opted out of. Regardless of the internal experience of gender, the external experience is also present. Operating within the shared cultural understanding of gender, one can aim to express a certain practice of gender - to make legible to other people how it is you interface with gender. This is always somewhat of a two-way process of communication. Other people may or may not perceive what you're going for - and they may or may not respect it. They may try to bring your expressed gender into alignment with a gender they know, or they might parcel you off into your own little box.
Gender is normative. Within the structure of the "cultural mainstream," there are allowable ways to practice gender. Any gendered behavior is considered relative to these standards. What behavior is allowed, rewarded, punished, or shunned is determined relative to what is gender normative for your perceived gender. Failure to have a clearly perceivable gender is also, generally, punished. So is having a perceivable gender which is in itself not normative.
Gender is taught by a combination of narratives, punishments, and encouragements. This teaching process is directed most strongly towards children but continues throughout adulthood. Practice of normatively-gendered behaviors and alignment with 'appropriate' archetypes is affirmed, encouraged, and rewarded. Likewise 'other'- gendered behavior and affinity to archetypes is scolded, punished, or shunned. This teaching process is inherently coercive, as social acceptance/rejection is a powerful force. However it can't be likened to programming, everyone experiences and reacts to it differently. Also, this process teaches the cultural roles and practices of both (normative) genders, even as it attempts to force conformity to only one.
Gender regulates access to certain levers of social power. This one is complicated by the fact that access to levers of social power is also affected by *many* other things, most notably race, class, and citizenship. I am not going to attempt to describe this in any general terms, I'm not equipped for that. I'll give a few examples to explain what I'm talking about though. (1) In a social situation, a man is able to imply authority, which is implicitly backed by his ability to intimidate by yelling, looming, or threatening physical violence. How much authority he is perceived to have in response to this display is a function of his race and class. It is also modified by how strongly he appears to conform to a masculine ideal. Whether or not he will receive social backlash for this behavior (as a separate consideration to how effective it will be) is again a function of race/class/other forms of social standing. (2) In a social situation, a woman is able to invoke moral judgment, and attempt to modify the behavior of others by shame. The strength of her perceived moral authority depends not just on her conformity to ideal womanhood, but especially on if she can invoke certain archetypes - such as an Innocent, a Mother, or better yet a Grandmother. Whether her moral authority is considered a relevant consideration to influence the behavior of others (vs whether she will be belittled or ignored) strongly depends on her relative social standing to those she is addressing, on basis of gender/race/class/other.
[Again, these examples are *not* meant to be exhaustive, nor to pass judgment on employing any social power in any situation. Only to illustrate what "gendered access to social power" might mean. And to illustrate that types of power are not uniform and may play out according to complex factors.]
Gender is not based in physical traits, but physical traits are ascribed gendered value. Earlier, I described gender as practiced, citing almost entirely things a person can do or change. And I firmly believe this is the core of gender as it exists culturally - and not just aspirationally. After the moment when a gender is "assigned" based on infant physical characteristics, they are raised into that gender regardless of the physical traits they go on to develop (in most circumstances, and unless/until they denounce that gender.) The range of physical traits like height, facial shape, body hair, ability to put on muscle mass - is distributed so that there is complete overlap between the range of possible traits for people assigned male and people assigned female. Much is made of slight trends in things that are "more common" for one binary sex or the other, but it's statistically quite minor once you get over selection bias. However, these traits are ascribed gendered connotations, often extremely strongly so. As such, the experience of presented and perceived gender is strongly effected by physical traits. The practice of gender therefore naturally expands to include modification of physical traits. Meanwhile, the social movements to change how gender is constructed can include pushing to decrease or change the gendered association of physical traits - although this does not seem to consistently be a priority.
Gender roles are related to the hypothetical ability to bear children, but more obliquely than is often claimed. It is popular to say that the types of work considered feminine derive from things it is possible to do while pregnant or tending small children. However, research on the broader span of human history does not hold this up. It may be true of the cultures that gave immediate rise to the colonial gender roles we are familiar with - secondary to the fact that childcare was designated as women's work. (Which it does not have to be, even a nursing infant doesn't need to be with the person who feeds it 24 hours a day.) More directly, gender roles have been influenced by structures of social control aiming for reproductive control. In the direct precursors of colonial society, attempts to track paternal lineage led to extreme degrees of social control over women, which we still see reflected in normative gender today. Many struggles for women's liberation have attempted to push back these forms of social control. It is my firm opinion that any attempt to re-emphasize childbearing as a touchstone of womanhood is frankly sick. We are at a time where solidarity in struggle for gender liberation, and for reproductive rights, is crucial. We need to cast off shackles of control in both fights. Trying to tie childbearing back to womanhood hobbles both fights and demeans us all.
Gender is baked deeply enough into our culture that it is unlikely to ever go away. Many people feel strongly about the practice of gender, in one way or another, and would not want it to. However we have the power to change how gender is structured and enforced. We can push open the doors of what is allowable, and reduce the pain of social punishment and isolation. We can dismantle another of the tools of colonial hedgemony and social control. We can change the culture!
#Gender theory#I have gotten so sick of seeing posts about gender dynamics that have no robust framework of what gender IS#so here's a fucking. manifesto. apparently.#I've spent so long chewing on these thoughts that some of this feels like. it must be obvious and not worth saying.#but apparently these are not perspectives that are really out in the conversation?#Most of this derives from a lot of conversations I've had in person. With people of varying gender experiences.#A particular shoutout to the young woman I met doing collaborative fish research with an indigenous nation#(which feels rude to name without asking so I won't)#who was really excited to talk gender with me because she'd read about nonbinary identity but I was the first nb person she'd met#And her perspective on the cultural construction of gender helped put so many things together for me.#I remember she described her tribe's construction of gender as having been put through a cookie cutter of colonial sexism#And how she knew it had been a whole nuanced construction but what remained was really. Sexist. In ways that frustrated her.#And yet she understood why people held on to it because how could you stand to loose what was left?#And how she wanted to see her tribe be able to move forward and overcome sexism while maintaining their traditional practices in new ways#As a living culture is able to.#Also many other trans people of many different experiences over the years.#And a handful of people who were involved in the various feminist movements of the past century when they had teeth#Which we need to have again.#I hate how toothless gender discourse has become.#We're all just gnawing at our infighting while the overall society goes wildly to shit#I was really trying to lay out descriptive theory here without getting into My Opinions but they got in there the last few bullet points#I might make some follow up posts with some of my slightly more sideways takes#But I did want to keep this one to. Things I feel really solidly on.

Okay smartass how would you fix Bingqiu if you had your way?
If you actually want to know you could do to be less of a rude little shit about it, anon, but all right.
This is not about 'fixing' anything. Bingqiu is a wildly popular ship and a lot of people enjoy the exact kind of delusional insanity these two have about each other and that's honestly great. Love it for them. Not my cup of tea though.
I think the easiest and fastest way to make them sort their shit out and maybe put them in a position where I might actually be interested in what's going on with them is to take the protagonist halo away. Maybe the System short circuits, maybe it just gets automatically turned off after the extras, don't know don't care.
A lot of Shen Qingqiu's self delusions are fueled by his unshakeable belief that Luo Binghe, being The Protagonist, is Perfectly Fine the way he is. Binghe is the Protagonist, so when there are no character development or obligatory angst events going on he is happy and healthy and a slightly charred good boy and Shen Qingqiu is The Happy Wife who dotes on his hubby and Everything Is Right In The World. Endless honeymoon with their responsibilities only coming to bother them every once in a while. And it makes it way too easy for Binghe to cover up that he's still hurt, still unstable and still insecure by what went down because Shen Qingqiu is willing to take him at face value when he presents his insecurities as just being shameless neediness for his husband. Of course he happily indulges Binghe! But that isn't really helping with the core of the problem now, does it?
Like, Binghe takes steps towards ensuring Shen Qingqiu's mental wellbeing even at the cost of his own as soon as Maigu Ridge is over when he takes him back to the sect. Shen Qingqiu tries too, in his own way (the entire segment in the tombs is all about him putting himself in very real danger for Binghe's sake) but at the same time, this is a guy who completely missed the writing on the wall that Bingge was deeply unhappy in PIDW. As long as he can hold onto his internal picture that The Protagonist Suffered A Lot But He Is Fine Now I don't think he can really offer the right kind of emotional support for Binghe to actually heal from what happened to him and move on to a healthier frame of mind.
If you take the protagonist halo away, then first of all Binghe can, you know, suck a little. Or a lot, actually. The world not making excuses for him and him being a little defanged would be good for him. He gets really nothing he actually wants from being the protagonist - Shen Qingqiu will love him anyway. Mobei-jun will still stick around to back him up and help him out, because he's still Shang Qinghua's favorite fictional son and Qinghua is happy to see Binghe happy, just, you know, somewhere way over there where he can't get jealous tsundere over Cucumber bro and maybe murder him about it. Sha Hualing is still going to be his buddy because he's her best source of human trivia and the writing inspiration for her girlfriend. Not having to be demon emperor and getting more time to spend with his husband would be a relief.
But he would have to be more aware of other people because he's not above them anymore. Maybe even forced to make a few new friends to get by. And his mask will fail and Shen Qingqiu will have to see him for what he is: just Luo Binghe, still hurt and still confused half demon, who loves him very much, but can't make sense of him and is afraid that he will be left behind or pushed away without explanation again and that's kinda Shen Qingqiu's own damn fault.
And Shen Qingqiu can't hold onto his delusions about The Protagonist. He can't willfully ignore that things are not fine with Binghe because he's not the Protagonist anymore and the world only allows that special privilege for the Protagonist. Binghe is just a guy now and he has so many heart demons he needs help with. His trauma from the abyss or Xin Mo can't be brushed off with 'oh that's just part of his blackening he's fine now' anymore. And it might need a little bit of adjusting to internalize that these problems have always been here just below the surface, but Shen Qingqiu genuinely loves Binghe and would want to help him become happier and more stable in any way he can.
Binghe becoming part of the world in a way that's one person among many - building a support network! maybe befriending new demons or actually getting to know and making up with the QJ disciples or finding common ground with LQG and becoming sparring buddies - rather than a protagonist in a sea of NPCs is a lot more interesting to me than whatever he has going on at the end of canon. And Shen Qingqiu can be there with him on that journey, because he already started unlearning the sense of unreality the System conditioned into him, but he still has a long way to go.
#i feel like a lot of very real hurt and mental scarring Binghe suffered just get brushed aside as 'oh it's just part of his blackening'#like the aftereffects of Xin Mo alone would deserve a mention but Binghe Has The Love Of His Life Now So Everything Is Fine#also I think people really undersell how hard SQQ can delude himself when he tries#he already had practice in it convincing himself that he's absolutely het and not even a little gay at all#but then the System really fucked up how he sees the world#made him see things structured completely around the arc of a harem and then romance protagonist#and neither of those frameworks ALLOW him to see how mentally scarred LBH is by everything#like he would occasionally get a moment of 'oh LBH might actually need more friends he looks lonely hanging out with just me and NYY'#but then his idiot reader brain reasserts itself and he convinces himself that it's FINE because the protagonist can't be maladjusted#I joke a lot that Binghe is a red flag and that's Shen Yuan's favorite color#but it's more a case of “you say that it's a red flag but I won't see it because the narrative can't allow it to be red”#Shen Yuan's attachment to the source material and the roles he constructs based on it are actively harming both of them#and I don't feel like it really makes things better that by the end he moved himself from the role of the Villain to the role of the Wife#they are still roles that impact how he interacts with reality n still constrict how well he's able to understand or be understood by Bingh#tl;dr.: Shen Yuan needs to become less of a delulu millennial trashfire bc it's holding both of them back from healing#anyway these are my unfiltered Bingqiu thoughts take it or leave it

Ti Platonism
Tumblr media
Search for Universal Axioms
While it might be said that all types seek truth of a sort, to the Ti user the quest for truth has a very specific meaning. He is not satisfied with the acquisition of information and indeed he generally avoids information, but is instead drawn to eternally narrow his search down to what he believes is the core of a thing - beyond the senses and beyond the confines of space or time. He'll aim to get rid of as much as is unnecessary, until only the essence remains. To him, truth means landing upon some elusive and singular convergent principle or nexus which gives formulation, symmetry and justification to everything else in the conscious universe. The Ti user, it may be said, is on a quest for a philosopher's stone. He will dig for it in all manner of philosophy and theories of the mind and this can cause them to become obsessive in their pursuits, and abandon all sense of context in their research. They may forget that they are not making tangible progress towards any scientific or objective aim, but instead are diving headlong into a conceptual challenge. Indeed it is an epistemological challenge with the bait of the One Truth at the end of it which they chase. And whether this truth is ever known by the Ti user is irrelevant to the visceral belief in its existence. Even if he has come to doubt all truth and has entered an existential dead end in his pursuit, so that he only knows that he knows almost nothing, he was lead into this territory by an inarticulated but deep rooted suspicion that something is there just waiting to be crystallized into knowledge.
Tumblr media
Reductionism
For the Ti user the world is often seen as a place of incongruences and complexities; of paradoxes and mysteries. Everything is operating from unchecked assumptions on top of assumptions with no explanation given for why any such thing is to be believed. The world seems utterly chaotic and nonsensical, and this causes a great deal of stress especially as it relates to the pursuit of axiomatic truth. In order to alleviate this, Ti often executes a reductionist methodology wherein all unjustified things are negated, in an effort to eliminate all untruths and see what is left. Ti in its purest sense will not wish to adapt any form of knowledge or information if it does not understand its underlying formation. It will feel that if the starting premise within them is not correct, then the entire foundation is faulty and all else that can be built from it will be askew. It therefore obsesses over the accuracy of the first few blocks and cornerstones of its epistemology, forcing Ti often times into an infinite regression loop of doubt. If told "go to school" then may think "what is school" and from there proceed to ask "what is a degree?" and "what makes knowledge gained at a school desk more valid than what is self-taught?" This can be terribly frustrating to family members as it may appear that the Ti user is rationalizing his way out of responsibility, when in reality he is contending with the existential questions of meaning, value and purpose  - which often must be addressed for them first before a single finger can be lifted towards a task. This can be problematic as Ti will tend to reduce social norms/ideas/things down to parts, without putting them back together. These thoughts will occupy the Ti user's mind continually and may cause things  to lose their value as the process of reduction strips away all meaning. At its most extreme this can lead to to existential dilemmas and nihilism even when nothing in life would suggest a reason to be unhappy. As Ti is a subtractive process by nature, it acts as a diagnostic process that identifies misalignment in any system of premises. Hence it tends to be far better at identifying what things are not, than what things are. It is often up to the other functions to counterbalance Ti's influence and provide positive affirmation for reasons, motivations and purposes.
Tumblr media
Castle Construction
However, if enough of a theoretical foundation has been set in the mind of the Ti user, then what emerges is a crystalline structure at the core of their being. Like the growth of an ice crystal from water, a theoretical castle begins to form. Each block of this castle is a premise or argument that helps structure the incoming information of reality in such a way as to create an interpretive scaffold. For Ti, this scaffold serves as a sort of Rubik's cube or kaleidoscope that allows the complexities of life to be viewed and understood from a convergent point. Should there ever be a mismatch between the reality outside of them and the kaleidoscope's prediction, the Ti user hurries to try to reformulate and refine their instrument (to fix the Rubik's cube), but an instrument they must use. The Ti user does not interface with reality directly, but does so through this instrument which acts as their proxy and go-between and allows them to make sense of things without needing necessarily to engage in the difficult task of materialism or empiricism. This leads inescapably to the formation of a personal theory, often beginning with phenomenology of the mind/consciousness. One such example of a crystalline theoretical structure is René Descartes' "cogito ergo sum" which, through his efforts and thoughts, was the cornerstone he came to develop and which helped him make sense of all other premises that cascade from this first axiom. But each Ti user may place a different conclusion as their starting premise. For some, the fundamental principle may be consciousness, for others it may be bodily experience, and for others it may be God or love.
Tumblr media
Ontology & Linguistics
The Ti function is inherently philosophical in nature, producing in the Ti user a gravitation towards what we might call ontology. It becomes important to the Ti user to define what things are in and of themselves. In this sense, Ti seeks to describe reality absolutely and almost as though they were to vanish themselves from existence. It must be able to be true without them in the picture, otherwise it is not true. By this metric Ti seeks for a sort of timeless abstract definition for everything. The Ti user usually seeks to encapsulate the essence of a thing through semantic precision; meticulously working out where the boundaries lie between two adjacent thought groupings. There is little more satisfying to them than when data suddenly clicks into perfect arrangement, revealing a fundamental truth. The Ti user lives for these rare and magic moments of clarity and by engaging in this differentiation process, they gain a firm mental grasp on the world; dissipating the fog of the unknown. The further the Ti user is from clarity of definition in his own thoughts, the more internal dissonance will be felt. This can also make the Ti user a bit of a grammar nazi and their semantic proclivities can lead them to spend hours discussing starting terms without ever making headway related to the real-world problem in question. The Ti user may be highly stimulated by such a discourse even though the original point of the discussion has been left far in the past. More than a few Ti users thus take to linguistics for their proximity to philosophy and their capacity to organize the very structure of our knowledge paradigms.
Tumblr media
Perfectionism
Additionally, there is a perfectionist quality to the Ti user wherein their personal desire for purity of logos is at once a desire for purity of the self. Indeed, the Ti user's success in building this logic framework is tied to their sense of identity, as they may view themselves primarily as a truth-seeker and truth-speakers. There will be an ethical quality to their pursuit which manifests in a valuing of neutrality, honesty, authenticity and clarity. Lack of neutrality, honesty or lack of clarity will be sensed as a transgression; one which they avoid in their own behavior and which they may also depreciate in others. As a compass function, Ti will strive for a type of nobility of character which it can sustain only if it feels it is being honest with itself and avoiding as many impurities as possible in its own thinking. This high personal standard can cause the Ti user to become entirely mute as their ignorance forces them to retract any opinion or utterance that they cannot firmly stand behind. The strong Ti user may be a very silent presence at school or in the workforce, speaking only occasionally and after minutes or hours of reflection on what he wishes to say. If their logical devotion is towards an art project or creative endeavor, the same bottleneck may appear, causing them to hesitate in publishing any works until everything feels entirely perfect. They may feel their works are never quite precise enough and will spend countless hours in the refinement process - aiming always for their writings, paintings or manifestations to capture their thoughts and intentions with no compromise. This can lead to negative feelings and self-blame forming for mistakes made or inaccurate information given.
Tumblr media
Stubborn Alignment to Framework
While the Ti user may not know many things, he will stand firm by what he does know. The Ti user can be stubborn and difficult to negotiate with if they have fixated on certain ideas they feel are true, and so long as their idea remains in their head, their heels remain sunk in that interpretation. This can lead them to become impractical in many real-world situations when the consequences of their carefully crafted definitions collide with certain necessary actions and obligations. They’ll often refuse to participate in something that seems necessary to some, but misaligned to them. And while no amount of pressure, external circumstance or logistical necessities can bend their opinion, a properly aimed rebuttal can radically shift their entire stance in moments. The Ti user's logical apparatus operates like a lock combination. When the right inputs (deductions) are received, suddenly the gates of their thoughts reconfigure and allow for a completely new mental trajectory to be possible and new actions to emerge from them. But without this reconfiguration, they may remain deadlocked in certain conclusions or philosophies even when those conclusions are negative and harmful to them. The strong Ti user must reason his way out of a certain conceptual hole and cannot simply ignore it or choose a more convenient path which doesn't fit into the structure and rules of their self-made castle.
Tumblr media
-Behaviors Under Stress
Emotional Shutoff
When the stress and gravity of life cause a fall out of emotional health, the strong Ti user's already faint emotional energies become even more deeply coveted. Unable to operate meaningfully in the environment, they will flee fully from the world and into a protective barrier of their own making. They will shut off emotionally and may become suspicious and avoidant of intrusions to their private space. This can lead to a very isolated experience where they feel they can only rely on themselves to figure out the answers to emotional problems which it often treats as intellectual problems. Driven equally by feelings of self-sufficiency and fear of emotional openness, they will aim to shoulder their pain entirely alone.
They will meet the problem with callousness of feeling. What is not felt cannot hurt, and here their natural capacity for dispassion is repurposed and used to strip power away from the heart. They may sever their connection to others with surprising ease, and forget the magnitude of their inner affect. What is non-ideal is rejected as they continue their pursuit for the ideal both in themselves and others. Yet the content remains present but buried in the unconscious, and they may harbor unresolved feelings for years at a time – often freezing their heart in the process. Merciless as they may be, they will intellectualize their decisions, satisfying their need to act from just premises and retain a proper sense of self.
Wailings and charged emotional reactions may be perceived as irrational and therefore inappropriate and to be avoided. However, as stress accumulates further, their logic will become gradually more distorted as they aim to rationalize what is essentially an emotional objection underneath. Unable to clearly and cathartically convey their heart’s voice, having stripped it of its power, their inner pains will emerge through distorted logical arguments and skewed claims. Their tendency to intellectualize matters of the heart will lead them to push the narrative into a form that aligns with their repressed feelings. As their stress furthers, they may disconnect themselves from others entirely and fall into schizoid tendencies.

Hyper-Focus on Imperfections
In another scenario, if the Ti user's heart remains open, they meet the problem with honesty of feeling. In their pursuit for authenticity of self, they allow the full gravity of their situation to hit them and they familiarize themselves with their darkest disappointments, losses and despair. Because they are perfectionists by nature, they will turn their attention to themselves to understand what is wrong. They may come to feel responsible for all that is not going well in their life and will be prone to episodes of melancholy and deep ruminations about their shortcomings. Worse yet, if a conclusion emerges (“I’m horrible”, “I’m responsible”) that cannot be rationally refuted, be it true or not, they will need to continue believing it in order not to betray their compass, even if believing such a thing causes continual pain. Moving past certain damages can be challenging unless their paradigm changes to reinterpret their past in a way that puts them in a more merciful place. They will have trouble accepting positive emotions just for the sake of it, without cause to feel positive. They will feel dubious of any trajectory of healing that isn’t somehow also justified in a certain sense. In this way, they do themselves no service; holding onto their negative beliefs so adamantly can be the cause of their own demise.

Language, Thought, and Reality: The Interplay of Human Understanding
Language is more than a mere tool for communication; it's a fundamental element of human cognition that significantly shapes our perception of reality. The intricate relationship between language, thought, and reality has intrigued philosophers, linguists, and cognitive scientists for centuries. This intricate interplay not only influences how we express our ideas but also defines the very nature of our thoughts and, by extension, the way we perceive the world.
Language as a Lens to Reality
One of the most influential ideas in this realm is the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis, which posits that the structure and vocabulary of a language can mold and constrain the way its speakers think about the world. This concept comes in two flavors: linguistic determinism and linguistic relativism. Linguistic determinism suggests that language entirely determines the way we think, limiting our thoughts to what is expressible in our language. Linguistic relativism, on the other hand, holds that language influences thought but doesn't strictly determine it.
Consider, for instance, the linguistic distinction between colors. Languages vary in how they categorize and label colors. Some have more words for different shades of blue, while others may combine colors that speakers of different languages consider distinct. This variation can affect how people perceive and categorize colors. If a language doesn't have a distinct word for a certain shade, its speakers may be less likely to perceive it as a separate entity. In this way, language can serve as a lens through which we view and define our reality.
The Mind's Toolkit: Language and Concepts
Language, in its complexity, provides us with a toolkit for understanding and categorizing the world. Words are not just labels but also containers of meaning and concepts. They define boundaries, allowing us to separate, categorize, and convey information. The very presence of specific words in a language implies the importance of these distinctions to its speakers.
Furthermore, the structural components of a language, such as syntax and grammar, govern how ideas are connected and expressed. They provide a blueprint for how concepts are related within the realm of thought. Thus, language helps us not only to classify the world but also to construct our understanding of it.
The Cultural Dimension
It's important to recognize that language isn't just an individual phenomenon. It is deeply entwined with culture. The language a person speaks is often a reflection of their cultural background and can encompass shared beliefs, values, and worldviews. Cultural linguistics explores how a language's unique features emerge from and influence the culture it is embedded in.
Beyond Language
While the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis and the study of linguistic relativity highlight the significance of language in shaping thought and reality, they are not without controversy. Critics argue that thought and perception are not solely dictated by language. Concepts like non-verbal communication, universal human experiences, and innate cognitive structures challenge the idea of linguistic determinism.
In the grand scheme of philosophy, the relationship between language, thought, and reality remains an open question. Language undoubtedly plays a vital role in shaping our perception of the world, but its extent and limits continue to be topics of philosophical inquiry.
As we ponder the intricate connection between language, thought, and reality, we gain insight into the profound ways in which human beings engage with and understand the world. This philosophical exploration enriches our understanding of the human experience and broadens the horizons of cognitive science, linguistics, and cultural studies.

RC does not do soul stuff as a rule. and it does not make homunculi (They are a lifelong commitment). It doesn't actually use anything of itself in any magic n has Popcorn's blood on hand in case it needs to Seriously power any flesh magic despite IDing as a Blood Mage (tm). It is pretty concerned about its status as Not organically created and how that could impact any sort of flesh magic as a variable. Despite being all Not caring abt the quencies it is also like ... very concerned about somehow destabilizing it's own magic and ceasing to exist, at least w/ all of the benefits that being classed as a Mnecraft Player has. Roleplay Quencies r whatever but it is a bit anxious about like. it's continued existence. Which rp quencies can sometimes threaten but it's never had a ''canon'' death and doesn't believe in them

#It’s kind of wild to see how people talk about mizrahim and the beta israel on here. Like.#people are Just Now discovering that people(s) who are colonial subjects#which they are#as much as anyone else from the mena region#can also perpetuate and have conditional gain within colonial systems#and there’s like… no awareness of how that works over and over again in colonial and immediately post-colonial societies#When in fact one of the most basic structures of colonial power#is pitting colonized peoples against each other through the construction of elaborate unstable racialized hierarchies#like#I think the thing it drives home for me#is how many people in the west a. Operate off of a purely binary moral framework#in which oppressed is good and oppressor is evil and no one is both#And b. Don’t know enough about the histories or current realities of the colonized world to draw meaningful conclusions about anything#And also c. Don’t know shit about Jews#of course#but especially non-ashkenazi Jews#it’s easier to view Israel as the embodiment of the sin of western colonialism#than to genuinely unpack and understand the structures that comprise it#and the ways in which they truly aren’t unique#and the sheer horror of that reality!#Y’all absorbed one (1) idea from fanon and really just stopped there huh#Anyway. The closest parallel to Israel in the world isn’t Algeria#that’s just the only one y’all know about because fanon wrote about it.#the closest parallel is maybe Liberia and that’s sure something to think about

I'm so curious to learn how the Bats came to the conclusion that the Phantom Kid is also the city spirit. 👀 It is a reasonable conclusion because of the soul-connection as well as appearing around the same time they felt the shift with the new City Spirit and whatever information Dr. Fate shared with the JL.
It's mostly a case of the Bats going "hey, this weird shit started happening the same time this kid with no record of existing who also triggers a similar metaphysical phenomena when we manage to interact with him started appearing" so they drew the most logical conclusion that The Phantom Boy is this City Spirit thing. I mean...they are detectives and it's not like Danny's very good at subtle.
Naturally, they don't have all the pieces of the puzzle yet, so they've still got some pretty big question marks, like what exactly a City Spirit does, the rhyme and reason for these powers they now suddenly have, and how Sam, Tucker, and Jazz fit in all of this, or what they're planning to do to help Gotham.
As for Fate...well...to me he just felt like the JL member who would realistically know something about what's going on in Gotham, so he became my exposition mouthpiece lmao. Fate knows in the broadest possible terms what's going on in Gotham's mystical behind the scenes by virtue of being a Lord of Order, but the specifics are a bit beyond him (though Gotham kind of makes him nervous because it's perpetually teetering on the very edge of spiraling into Chaos and just looking at it is anxiety-inducing for him. Needless to say, it freaked him out when the small glimmer of Order holding this budding maelstrom of Chaos together flickered out, only to be replaced by something much brighter. So Fate's been keeping a closer eye on the mystical goings on in Gotham).

“are you nd or nt” this is stupid as hell and i’m opting out of that framework entirely
#the way people conceptualize ‘neurotypicals’ not as actual people but as factory-made blank-slate hyper-capitalist wet dreams of what human#beings are ‘naturally’ and buy into the pathologization of actually natural human behavior and variance in how we function#and so heavily defer to the authority of psych institutions and rigidly defined ideas of normality and divergence#for the sake of having clearly defined labels for a bizarre us v them. dumb as hell#you can say whatever you want in response this seems to be at least a kind of helpful worldview for a lot of people#but nothing i’ve seen about the way these terms get used in practice has made me feel anything but negative towards this framework#everybody needs an other to differentiate themselves from bc yknow identities often form along the lines of out groups in the language of#opposition and the ways that ‘nd’ so often gets flattened to just mean ‘autism and adhd’ and the amount of slap fights i’ve seen about who#gets to be included in the nd out group. to say nothing of these mythical ‘neurotypicals’ you’re supposedly talking about#because point at any person and i guarantee you they don’t match up to the capitalist construction of neurotypicality you have in your head#and then discussions of physical disability’s intersections n all. real fucking mess man#again if it helps you. w/e. i just cannot ever conceive of this being a particularly helpful way for me to view my brain and how i function

hi! what kinda things do you want me to ask about? is it only alpha kids stuff? also do you incorporate quadrants when shipping?
Just whatever! Though I am Always down to talk about the alpha kids (and there’s no guarantee I’ll have anything interesting to say on another topic)
And yeah, while quadrants are not the primary lens I tend to use for relationships i do think abt them? especially for troll characters but they work for humans too

now that I'm thinking back on it, I've been following you since like 2017? I think. I remember you feverishly ryukita posting and despite both not having played p5 (id only played p4 then) and not really knowing a lot about them the way you discussed them was really engrossing and I decided to follow. Back then I was a teenager who was also super romance in media averse (gay teen, most romances being Like That) but following you and listening you discuss and pick apart and engage with romance in the way you do made me more evaluative of the genre and its many iterations/tropes/emotional underpinings and more open to exploring it myself in the first place. You made me romance literate is what I'm saying
lmao??? 1) sorry for the late answer I legit did not see it until now, 2) genuinely charmed by this. the power of never shutting up pulls through once again. happy to play this role in your life

Enhancing Everyday Conversations: Applying Logic for Effective Communication
Logic is a powerful tool that can greatly enhance our everyday conversations. By employing logical frameworks and models, we can construct sound arguments, analyze information, resolve disagreements, and foster a deeper understanding of various topics. In this blog post, we will explore some valuable models and frameworks that can assist us in using logic effectively during our conversations, promoting rational discourse and critical thinking.
Socratic Method: Uncovering the Truth through Inquiry- The Socratic Method, named after the ancient Greek philosopher Socrates, involves the art of asking insightful questions to stimulate critical thinking. By engaging in thoughtful questioning, we can challenge assumptions, identify inconsistencies, and encourage a deeper examination of our beliefs and reasoning. This method helps us navigate conversations with intellectual curiosity and promotes logical analysis.
Toulmin Model: Constructing and Evaluating Arguments- The Toulmin Model provides a structured approach to constructing and evaluating arguments. Its elements include the claim (the main statement), grounds (supporting evidence), warrant (connecting the claim and grounds), backing (additional support), qualifier (specifying the strength of the argument), and rebuttal (addressing counterarguments). By employing the Toulmin Model, we can formulate logical arguments and critically assess the strength and validity of others' arguments.
Rhetorical Appeals: Balancing Emotions, Credibility, and Logic- Rhetorical appeals, comprising ethos (credibility), pathos (emotions), and logos (logic), are persuasive tools that help us communicate effectively. While emotions and credibility play important roles in conversations, incorporating logical appeals allows us to present sound reasoning, evidence, and logical coherence. By striking a balance between these appeals, we can influence others through rational persuasion.
Argument Mapping: Visualizing Logical Structures- Argument mapping involves visually representing the structure of an argument using diagrams or software tools. This approach helps us visualize the logical flow of information, identify premises and conclusions, and evaluate the strength and coherence of an argument. Employing argument mapping can bring clarity to complex discussions and facilitate a more systematic evaluation of ideas.
Decision-Making Models: Weighing Options with Logic- Decision-making models, such as cost-benefit analysis, SWOT analysis, or decision trees, integrate logical reasoning to assess options and make informed choices. By applying these models, we can organize relevant information, consider different factors, and weigh the pros and cons based on logical evaluation. These frameworks enable us to make decisions that align with our goals and values.
Critical Thinking Frameworks: Nurturing Rational Discourse- Critical thinking frameworks, such as Bloom's Taxonomy or Paul-Elder's Model of Critical Thinking, provide a structured approach to developing and applying critical thinking skills. These frameworks guide us in analyzing information, evaluating evidence, and constructing logical arguments during conversations. By cultivating critical thinking skills, we can engage in more meaningful and intellectually stimulating discussions.
By incorporating logical models and frameworks into our everyday conversations, we can elevate the quality of our communication. The Socratic Method encourages inquiry and critical thinking, while the Toulmin Model assists in constructing and evaluating arguments. Rhetorical appeals help us balance emotions, credibility, and logic, ensuring persuasive effectiveness. Argument mapping aids in visualizing logical structures, decision-making models facilitate informed choices, and critical thinking frameworks nurture rational discourse.
