Part 2 of my MC's file from the yandere!batfam au
Tumblr media
HER ARSENAL:
-Lucia's skills as a hacker are inspired by the Watch Dogs universe.
-She can remotely hack phones to access data, disable alarms, or track locations. Tamper with security cameras for intel or to map out routes. Overloard junction boxes to create distractions or disable power.
-Even manipulate traffic lights to cause accidents or create a escape route.
-She can also override vehicle systems, remotely controlling cars or locking people inside.
-She's also an inventor. Her fascination with tech doesn't end only in programming. She loves creating and developing tech stuff. Robots and drones are her favourites, designed for surveillance, as weapons, or other related tasks, such as planting bugs and retreiving items.
-With time, she learns to build specialized tools like signal jammers, EMPs, or hacking tools disguised as everyday items. Nothing escapes her.
-She has many hiding spots in Gotham, after years of finding routes by jumping through rooftops and sneaking around, but she mostly frecuents her main safehouse, that's located within an abandoned warehouse in The Narrows, and extends below utilizing portions of the closed underground station.
-She knows no one would think of looking down there, unless they know what they're looking for.
-It serves her as a workshop, but also as an operations center and her own personal heaven, where she can rest and enjoy herself in peace. She feels more at home there than in the Wayne manor.
-She puts her gymnastic skills to good use, sneaking through rooftops, alleyways, and urban infrastructure to her advantage. Sometimes she'll rely on drones for mobility instead, controlling them to scale virtually any wall and obstacle that she can't by bypass with parkour.
-She's not a fighter, but years of judo classes have allowed to defend herself when the situation calls for it. She's usually armed with compact, high-voltage stun weapons that incapacitate people without killing them. All of which designed and developed by her.
-She operates with an alter ego, Ghost, and later Zero, with which she manages her "errands" and communicates with people who hire her services. At first, the alter ego only exists online, but with time, she begins to intervene more in her missions, and it's not unusual for her to sneak into places to do her work, so she uses a disguise.
-When she's acting as her alter ego, she wears form-fitting athletic wear for unrestricted movement, with a jacket over it with deep pockets and hidden compartments, that helps conceal her shape. A sleek, high-design mask that covers from her nose to her forehead, equipped with augmented reality features for hacking on the go and a voice modifier, which creates a robotic tone that makes impossible to discern her age or gender. She also uses gloves, to keep her fingerprints away from any surface.
-She started doing some hacking here and there for hiring, but eventually, she associates with villains and works with them. She does some morally and legally questionable stuff (downright crimes) for money and also for the thrill of power, for the self-validation.
-Regardless, she doesn't really follow anyone. She works on her own terms and mostly does her own things. She's friends with some other hackers too and they work together from time to time, but otherwise, she acts alone.
-The classes and extracurricular activities she took in an effort to impress her family (judo, gimnastics, programming, drawing) have proven to be very useful with her new job, giving her a set of skills that she's honed for her not-so-legal endevours.
-She has her own motorbike, her favourite gift from Alfred that she treasures. She calls it "my baby", and has given it a few not very legal modifications to improve the design to her taste.
Personal info:
-She doesn't call Bruce "dad" or "father". It's always Bruce, or Mr Wayne if she feels particulally petty.
-She was banned from judo competitions after accidentally breaking her oponent's leg. In her defense, she had an awful day and the poor bastard decided it was a good idea to taunt her into hitting him. She claims she's gotten over it already (lies, she still gets pissy over it).
-She's been practically raised by Alfred, and they have the sweetest bond. He's the only person in the manor she respects, and wants to make him proud. That's why she does her best to hide her double life from him, knowing he would dissaprove.
-Funny enough, because Alfred is the same one who taught her how to shoot a gun and where to stab someone to render them helpless. The man is no fool, he knows he can't stop a teenager from doing dumb shit, but he can at least make sure she's prepared for the worst outcomes.
-She has the habit of moving around the manor like a monkey, climbing and jumping around like the proud gymnast she is. The manor is like a obstacle park for her. Why take the stairs when she can just jump off the rail and land gracefully on the ground? It's much faster.
-Alfred had to patch her up more than once from stunts gone wrong, but always encouraged her that "there's no victory without failure".
-She's grown up helping Alfred around the manor, slowly but surely taking his tasks from him and doing them herself so he can rest. She's worried about his high activity at his old age, fearing he might drop dead one day out of exhaustion.
-They share the house chores, and he calls her "his little helper", even though she's taller than him now. Lucia's heart melts when he calls her that, but pretends to complain with "she's not a kid anymore"
-She's fixated with the color red ever since her mom's death, specially with the kind of red that resembles blood stains. At the same time, she has severe claustrophobia.
-She hates the color green ever since Damian tried to kill her. It reminds her of his eyes.
-Speaking of it, she's either indifferent or polite with the others, but she hates Damian with passion. He gave her trauma, nightmares and a permanent scar on her neck that would never dissapear, among being an absolute bully whenever their paths cross. She avoids him entirely.
-Even thought she's stranged, she's still known as Bruce Wayne's daughter. She got kidnapped not much later after moving in to Wayne Manor by Penguin, whom she won over by being overly nice and polite with despite her circumnstances. Her mother taught her that bowing her head and be pleasant could save her life in the worst situations (pity it didn't save her)
-She was rescued quickly enough by Bruce, but he handled the ordeal as if it was an inconvenience rather than his daughter having been in a life-threatening situation.
-She's been kidnapped and attempted to more times over the years, each one cementing her belief that she had to save herself because no one else would.
-Her little brother, Marco, is a year younger than Damian, and has dyslexia, which is one of the reasons Lucia works so hard to provide him the best from a distance. She knows the educational system doesn't fit kids with special needs like him, specially if they're orphans.
-She's taken upon herself to be a mother for Marco, unconsciously seeking to cope with their mom's death by taking her place in his life. She visits him frecuently at the orphanage and pulls strings so he doesn't get adopted. It's selfish, she knows, but she can't stand the idea of another family getting him and losing contact with him.
-Being possessive with family runs in her blood.
-She adores him, but her relationship with the boy is also built on her feelings of neglect and the trauma of losing their mother. She holds unto him not only out of love, but because she feels he's the only true family she has. The only brother who loves her unconditionally and doesn't make her feel like shit.
-She's a parentified oldest daughter at its finest, used to act like an adult even at a young age. The only times she allows herself to be a girl her age is when she's alone with Alfred or with her best friends.
-She smokes and has some self-destructive tendencies, but crosses the line at getting drunk.
-She has discounts at the Iceberg Lounge whenever she goes. Gets along surprisingly well with Oswald Cobblepot, with him being somewhat fond of her since the kidnapping.
-Because of this, she has met a couple of villains already and even talked to them. Ivy and Harley are secretly scouting her for Siren potential, trying to see if she's worth it.
-All of them at some point have met her alter ego online. She has contacts everywhere.
-Marco's biological father is a pillar in both their lives since they were kids, and Lucia has a complex dynamic with the man. His identity is relevant to the plot.
-Out of all her "siblings", she likes Duke the most. He's the only one who's been friendly with her since the beginning and hasn't gotten bored of her, unlike Stephanie. They were close before, but after Lucia found out their secret identities, she kept her distance from him, much to his sadness.
-She doesn't mind Barbara and Cassandra. She's polite when she sees them and has no particular problem with their presence.
-She strongly dislikes Dick, Jason and Stephanie, and she doesn't have an opinion on Tim, beyond that he has assholes vibes.
-My Dick Grayson, Jason Todd and Damian Wayne from this au are inspired by the ones from @solelifauna. If you want to get an idea, go check her works and you'll understand.
-Lucia knows all of their vigilante lives, but pretends she doesn't so to not give them a reason to bother her. Alfred is aware that she knows, since he was there when she found out, in an accidental way.
-Long story short, she snuck in the Batcave and saw all the stuff, including the uniforms. She had a mental breakdown right there and rushed to pack her stuff, determined to run away. She's a criminal, she doesn't want to share space with the people who hunt down those who break the law. Alfred caught her and managed to convince her to stay, agreeing that she would keep the secret and the family wouldn't have to know about this incident.
-Alfred thinks he reacted like that because she's afraid of being targeted by the Batfamily's enemies.
-In reality, she's afraid of being targeted by the Batfamily themselves.

look guys i very strongly disagree with the "trans men hold privilege over trans women" point of view and i'm finally able to articulate why:
I think trans men don't hold privilege over trans women, because privilege is kind of a consistent thing.
Like, bear with me: I'm an abled person. I have privilege in relation to disabled people. Because, if me and a disabled person are in a Situation where this distinction is relevant in some way...I'm literally never gonna come out with the worst hand. Never. No matter what the situation is. This is a consistent fact.
Now, when we talk about different transgender identities, I think this gets more shady, because the "who has privilege in relation to who" is a relative statement. One example I saw of people explaining why in their view trans man have privilege over trans women is kind of like this: Imagine there are two passing and stealth trans people, a trans man and a trans woman, in a workplace. Then, it comes a coworker, being blatanly misogynist. Regardless of their views on trans people, in this situation, the trans woman is gonna get the worst of it, in relation to the trans man, because he will be viewed as a man.
It makes sense, and I don't think this hypothetical situation is inaccurate or anything, but I'd also like to point out why it doesn't work as a good point to why transmascs have privilege over transfems. Imagine we change about any variable in this situation. Let's say the trans woman is closeted as a guy, and the trans man is openly transgender. The misogynist coworker then would very much target the trans man in their points, especially if they are particularly transphobic. Now imagine both of them are out and openly trans, with the bonus that now both the man and the woman are gnc. Depending on other specifics, the misoginyst coworker might be bigoted to just one or both of them.
Like, do you see? In different situations, the different trans people have the worst hand. So that doesn't mean that because of the first case, trans men have it generally better. Because there are many kinds of trans men, and simply not all of them have privilege over trans women. In some cases, they might even have it worse precisely because they are trans man. So the privilege the trans man in the first example has is not a consistent thing over trans man! Maybe it's common, I don't know, but when we compare it with someone who has real privilege, like me, an abled person, I ain't ever encounter myself in a situation where I'm having it worse because I am abled in comparison to someone who is disabled.
That's why I think trans woman and trans men simply don't hold privilege over one another, simply because it varies. It depends on who the trans men and women are, it depends in what situation they are in, it depends on the people around them, it depends of so much!!! So saying that trans men have privilege over trans women sounds simply surreal!
I think that, also, the different patterns of the situations in which trans woman have it worse are important to be discussed, and that's why we have the word Transmisoginy, to discuss these issues pertinent to the nuanced oppression trans woman face (and on a similar note, that's why it's also important to have fucking words like Transmisogynoir, because a black trans woman's Situations will be different from a white trans woman's Situations and it's important to to recognize that). THAT's why I also think that we need words like Exorsexism and Transandrophobia, to identify the patterns of situations where trans men have it bad precisely because they are trans men and not something else or because nonbinary people have it bad precisely because they are nonbinary.
SO, in short, my opinion on the "trans man have it generally better than trans woman and that's why they have privilege" debate is that trans man don't generally have it better than trans woman, but some trans man in specific situations have it significantly better than trans woman and that in other situations trans woman have it significantly better than trans man and that is basically a case-to-case scenario and that's also why we need the specific words for different shapes and faces of transphobia to better understand these cases and why x happens with y at z situation. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.
#maybe i havent been able to convince you of my point#but hopefully you can see this issue in a new light i guess?#my two cents#transphobia#trans#transandrophobia#trans community#transmisoginy#intersectionality#long post#like hopefully i've been able to get my point across XD#like do you see my point#i hope the examples at the beggining help#like#it doesnt matter that im a black abled person and that is a white disabled person#in a situation where the disability or lack thereof is the Relevant aspect im gonna have it way better than this hipothetical disabled pers#so i have privilege over them regarding my ableness#and similarly in a situation where our race is the relevant aspect they are gonna have it better than me#in situations where these OVERLAP you can't just 'tell' because of like#Nuance. if you know her#im not trying to say trans woman in situations like the first example or some fandom stuff and online interactions-#-don't have a significantly worse hand than the transmascs#im saying that this kind of stuff is a case-to-case scenario#and this so-called Privilege is just.#inconsistent.#and when you compare it to like Abled Privilege or White Privilege it justs...#you can sort of just see the difference#i get it that this whole debate is based on the fact that “in general; men have privilege over women” so i actually see where it's coming-#-from. but i also think that the transness aspect is something that just adds so much nuance to this issue that the previous Truth-#-just can't apply with good accuracy anymore

i absolutely understand there was no way to account for every single choice ever made-- that's literally impossible across so many games and so many years and so many changes. i do, however, think that 3 games worth of established lore should be worth something and like.... addressed. there are always going to be things that are retconned over time, i even said previously that i liked some of the changes around the qunari that happened back in inquisition because it felt like a step in the right direction and finally fleshing them out and establishing their culture in a meaningful way. but that's not what's happening in veilguard. they do the opposite. with everyone, the qunari and the elves and the dwarves and even the humans. they get reduced to generic, bland, homogeneous, nonreligious groups that all get along amongst themselves. the dalish elves are either just dead in the background (which to be fair has always been a consistent feature of these games lol) or absorbed into the veil jumpers, who are a huge mix of humans and qunari and elves, etc. kal-sharok gets literally Nothing despite one of the main companion quests taking place there-- there are no dwarven politics like we've seen previously, the kal-sharok aren't even especially isolationist nor do they take any time to explore their proximity to tevinter (and what they did to keep trading with them), or the blight and darkspawn (and how it's changed them and their relationship to orzammar). the qunari are all antaam, just faceless bodies for rook and co to kill because they needed more enemy variety, and what we do see with shathann and taash does not cohere with what we've learned previously about gender in the qun. the chantry is basically nonexistent despite two games setting up this massive conflict between mages and templars, despite veilguard literally revolving around massive revelations of faith… and i know we're in northern thedas so the chantry and templars do function differently, but our only two templars we get a lot of interactions with are "good guys" (and rana specifically can get up on her high horse about it with neve with no option for us to give her the third degree like she's not a fantasy cop whose coworkers are paid off by rich magisters lol) like... these are huge, glaring changes that do not align with a lot of what we've seen in previous games and also have nothing to do with complex branching choices.

Since you answered an ask of how Movie!Tails could react to the Shatter Variants of Tails from Sonic Prime, I'm curious to say my first ask to you, what do you think Movie!Sonic would react and think? 👀
especially towards Nine ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Oooooh how interesting...
I'll give it a shot!
My only disclaimer is that, like before, my answer will be a mixture of my interpretation of canon and headcanon. Here's the previous ask about movie!Tails's opinions as well in case anyone reading hasn't read it: X
Prime!Tails
First impression:
"Tails!"
Almost certainly the sight of Tails would be a familiar one, even if prime!Tails doesn't look exactly like movie!Tails. So (kind of how Prime!Sonic tended to do with some of the variants), I think he'd assume pretty quickly that Prime!Tails and Movie!Tails are almost the same/extremely similar, especially if he had a chance to see a window into Prime!Tails' life
The only other thing I could say is that depending on what Movie!Sonic has a chance to see, he could perhaps clock Prime!Tails as being a bit more confident and Prime!Sonic and Prime!Tails having a closer relationship? But it's also Sonic so he'd see the surface level similarities and probably assume they're similar enough as a first impression😂
After getting to know them:
This is one of those cases where two people are so similar that the differences would stand out more when Sonic actually meets him.
Since he's a roll with the punches kinda hedgehog, I don't think it would be especially hard for him to get used to fighting alongside Prime!Tails, but I do think he would notice the differences in how the two fight and the difference in confidence levels. He seems like the kind of hedgehog who would kind of start commenting on a difference out of the blue too. Something like "So you're used to things like this?" (in reference to fighting badniks and Eggman quite a lot) or "You guys are close" (in reference to Prime!Sonic and Prime!Tails fighting together).
Final addition. I think he'd be able to get along with Prime!Tails fairly well (though how he reacts to stuff like physical intimacy from Prime!Tails would be dependent on how close he is to Movie!Tails at that time), and at least once I feel like he'd go "I wonder if me and my Tails will be like that one day" (in reference to Prime!Sonic's best friendship with Prime!Tails)
Sails
First impression:
*cue gasp* "Pirate Tails?!"
He doesn’t have the most active filter either, so if it was a first meeting specifically (as opposed to viewing a highlight real/recording of him existing), I feel like Prime Sonic would be asking if the pirate thing is a costume or legit. Also wouldn't put it past him to do some decent–ish to terrible pirate speak/impressions at least once
After getting to know them:
I'm gonna be honest, depending on how the first meeting goes and how well acquainted Sails is with Prime!Sonic, I feel like either movie Sails would either be annoyed with Sonic initially or they'd hit it off (personally I like to headcanon that Sails likes to use riddles/say weird stuff just to mess with people, and would enjoy getting into the occasional prank war (something I feel movie!Sonic would enjoy as well)) and be irritating together.
I think upon finding out most differences between Sails and Movie!Tails, the bulk of Movie!Sonic’s reactions would be like "well, he's a pirate and he lives on a ship so that figures". It could potentially throw him a bit off that Sails isn't as tech savvy, but I think the similarities (and some differences) are fine enough for Movie!Sonic to feel like Sails is someone he can have a fun time hanging with
Mangey
First impression:
Like Tails in the previous post, Sonic in general can be a bit judgy. The first impression in this case depends upon what he sees of Mangey or how meeting him goes. If it's an out of context thing, like Movie!Tails, I feel like there's a pretty fair probability that he'll also wonder if Mangey is just feral/crazy. With that being said, I feel that that by the end of Prime Mangey warmed up to Prime!Sonic pretty well. So even though Movie!Sonic isn't the exact same guy, I think Mangey could potentially be excited/happy to see him in a first meeting scenario. In this kind of scenario, I can see Mangey doing stuff like hanging fairly close to movie!Sonic and potentially being playful with him. (Since I headcanon Mangey as selectively mute and largely nonverbal) I feel like Movie!Sonic in this case would see Mangey as sweet and kind of quiet, but ultimately not think too hard about why that is.
After getting to know them:
Like with Movie!Tails, I think Movie!Sonic would come to understand Mangey and his situation/who he is better over time. Also, no matter his first impression, by this point I know in my bones movie!Sonic would find Mangey to be kinda cute. I feel like he'd enjoy training with Mangey (for fighting), he'd absolutely end up playing games with him (maybe even playing some form of catch?), and, if he's fairly comfortable with his own Tails, I can see Movie!Sonic being able to lounge with Mangey curled up sleeping on him (purring a little even?).
While Mangey isn't especially tech savvy (but definitely surprisingly so, given the lack of technology where he lives), I can see him deciding that Mangey and movie!Tails are fairly similar to him. A natural with technology, cute, loyal, can fly...I mean he's basically just Tails but if the fox was less of an explicit prodigy and talked less, right? Right?
(That’s more of how I feel movie!Sonic would decide to feel about Mangey. Not sure if Movie!Tails would be a bit offended or not if Movie!Sonic said that last statement in his presence lol😂)
Nine
First impression:
This is Movie!Sonic so...
"Tails but...edgier?"
This is another one where his first impressions are context heavy. So like pre-s3 Nine I can see him taking note of Nine being kind of a loner, and even getting confirmation that this is a version of Tails who's good with tech and mechanics. During Prime S3? There's a pretty good chance he'll see that out of context, nod, and be like "Oh, so. Evil Tails. Explains the outfit." Post S3? I can see him taking note of Nine being good with tech (especially if he's working on some project or another), but, ultimately, I think he'd see how alone he Nine and think it to be sad. Movie!Sonic is...acquainted with the feeling of being alone and having no one.
After getting to know them:
If Movie!Sonic ended up learning pieces of Nine's backstory at some point, I can sort of see him holding onto some of those little similarities with Movie!Tails' backstory. Since there was no Sonic in Nine's universe, he didn't have any hero he could look up to. He didn't have anyone who could make him feel "normal". So I think some of the similarities there would make him feel sad that Nine has...never really had anyone on his side (much less growing up with any friends or family). And, as I mentioned earlier, I think Movie!Sonic would definitely be able to empathize with Nine's loneliness, in the way that he feels sad that he’s had to endure that (both back when Nine isolated himself out of fear, and post Prime when Nine is isolated from everyone, including the person he wants to be beside most).
Even knowing everything Nine has done, I still think Movie!Sonic would want him to be able to really be at home and to not be alone anymore one day. No matter how he has to contextualize Nine's past actions for himself (whether misguided, out of fear/trauma, or something bad he's trying to atone for now), Movie!Sonic is the kind of hedgehog who would be able to see Nine's loneliness and want to help him. After all, did he not still help Movie!Knuckles when he was in danger and invite him into his home? Did he not attempt to advise Knuckles when Knuckles couldn't feel at home on Earth, care about Earth, or fathom pursue a purpose outside protecting the Master Emerald?
So yeah, in short, I feel like Movie!Sonic would be able to empathize with Nine's loneliness. I think he would see those little similarities to his Tails and could even potentially wonder if this is how Movie!Tails could have turned out under different circumstances. And I think if he spent time with Nine, he would want to help him get to...a better place in his life, so to speak (whether that means trying to give advice, visting him often, or giving him the tools/means to move forward).
Honestly...I don't think if they got emotionally/personally involved with Nine in any way Movie!Tails or Movie!Sonic could ignore his situation.

Okay but can we talk about how g1 Megatron’s alt mode is just objectively kind of shit?
I mean yeah, turning into a gun is cool I guess, but logistically
It’s a relatively small gun (at least in Transformers proportions, it’s probably pretty big to a human) that needs someone else to fire
For starters, this alt mode is completely useless transport wise, because it cannot move on its own, he needs someone else to carry him (though it is small, so it wouldn’t be too difficult). So it doesn’t even serve a function of more efficient movement
Second, as previously mentioned, it requires someone else to use; as far as I’m aware, he can’t fire on his own. And considering these are the Decepticons, the range of people he can trust with it is probably limited (even if Starscream of all people is allowed to use it). But it also means that if he’s alone, his alt mode is entirely useless, if not a hindrance
And the cherry on top of all of this is that in his robot mode, he already has a cannon on his arm. One that’s bigger and honestly probably just as, if not more effective than his alt mode
Like at that point, if you can’t change your alt mode, you’re probably just better off staying robot mode permanently. Thankfully for Megatron, his robot mode is more than capable of packing a punch on its own. Maybe there’s instances where gun mode could be useful, but it’s really more trouble than it’s worth
And yeah you could say Soundwave falls into some of these issues being a cassette player, but for one thing, his alt mode has sound powers he can use as a weapon, and he’s also the communications and intelligence officer, so it’s not as necessary for his alt mode to be as combat effective as possible

Another Käärijä Research Project
aka: käärijä style-shifting project
as a preface, here are my (non) qualifications for this project and the circumstances under which it happened:
I am a linguistics student, and this past semester I took a course on sociolinguistics. the goal of this project was to become familiar with the concept of and analyze style-shifting (it's more commonly known as code-switching online but theres a difference and this is style-shifting), specifically by analyzing the speech of one person. We had the option to study oprah or to have someone else approved by my prof, so you know I had to ask my prof if I could study jere. This project is solely my intellectual property; even though I had a tutor help me a lot, everything written in this paper and on this post was my work alone.
now, on to the actual findings! the full paper and transcripts will be linked at the end :D
the actual variables (words or sounds) that I studied were the pronunciation of r, and use of the word "the".
to make things a lot easier from the get-go, i'm going to introduce you all to one of my favorite websites, ipachart.com (the international phonetic alphabet [ipa] chart is a big chart with an entry for every sound that exists in a language. this handy dandy website has an audio recording for each one of those sounds).
go to this website, and then scroll down to the table. go to the column labeled "post alveolar" and then click on ɾ and ɹ. those are the sounds i studied in this paper! ɾ is the finnish r and ɹ is the american r :)
so basically what i did to find instances of my variable was i just looked up a bunch of esc interviews and listened out for use of the different r sounds. i also transcribed the entire dinner date live because i love torture apparently :) the specific interviews and lives/stories are in the bibliography of the paper :p
after i transcribed all the interviews and lives/stories i went through and highlighted every instance of the r sound. then i calculated the ratios of ɾ to ɹ based on the context they were spoken in. the two contexts i looked for were formal contexts (sit-down interviews) and informal contexts (literally anything else).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i found that jere uses ɹ WAY more often in formal contexts than he does in informal contexts, and the same in reverse with ɾ.
i then went back to the transcripts and looked for all instances of the word "the". i also looked for instances where i thought it should be present, but was omitted. i calculated the ratio of present vs omitted "the"s in formal vs informal contexts and made some charts.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the graph with the smaller black section is "use of 'the' in formal settings" and the one with the smaller green section is "use of 'the' in informal settings" (the images are transparent, sorry)
i found that jere uses "the" WAY more often when in formal settings! there were also some instances where he added a "the" where it was unnecessary, which is studied at length in this wonderful paper by @alien-girl-21
something i also noticed that i elected not to study because this paper took enough energy on its own was that in formal contexts, whenever the "or" sound came in the middle or at the end of a word, jere wouldn't pronounce the r. it stuck out to me mostly because i heard words like "performance" turning into "perfomance", which i thought was an interesting quirk.
unfortunately i was somewhat limited by both my brainpower and capacity to do more work on this paper in the relatively short timeframe i was given (2 weeks) and the fact that i was given a 5 page MAX for this paper (not including a bibliography). i had a lot of fun doing this though and am definitely planning on studying jere for for academic credit again in the future if given the chance!
also i would like it to be known that i spent an hour searching for that 5 second clip of the urheilucast where jere said that he used to sell kitchens and understands english better than he can speak it.
link to a google drive folder with the actual paper i wrote and the transcripts of the interviews with notation:
please feel free to send me asks and dms with questions or comments about this paper! i absolutely love rambling about linguistics :3!!
