🩺 Disease Prevention: The Importance of Regular Check-ups and Vaccinations 🩺
Disease prevention is a crucial aspect of maintaining overall health and well-being. Regular medical check-ups and vaccinations play a vital role in safeguarding against common illnesses. Here’s why these practices are essential for effective health management:
1. Regular Check-ups:
Early Detection: Regular check-ups facilitate early detection of diseases, allowing for prompt intervention and treatment. Conditions like hypertension and diabetes can be managed more effectively when caught early.
Health Monitoring: Routine health assessments enable you to track your overall health status, providing insights into any potential risks or changes that may require attention.
Risk Reduction: Identifying risk factors through regular screenings can significantly reduce the likelihood of developing serious health issues, including cardiovascular diseases and cancers.
2. Vaccinations:
Community Immunity: Vaccinations not only protect individuals but also contribute to community immunity, preventing outbreaks of contagious diseases.
Prevention of Common Diseases: Vaccines are essential in preventing diseases such as influenza, measles, and hepatitis, which can have serious health consequences.
Reducing Complications: Receiving vaccines helps mitigate the risk of severe complications that could lead to hospitalization or even death.
Key Takeaways:
Consultation with Healthcare Providers: Regular consultations with healthcare professionals are vital to discuss necessary screenings and vaccinations based on age, medical history, and lifestyle.
Staying Informed: Keep updated on the recommended vaccination schedules and screening guidelines to ensure comprehensive health protection.
In Conclusion:
Investing in your health through regular check-ups and timely vaccinations is paramount for effective disease prevention. Remember, prevention is always better than cure!

yknowwww there is something... deeply uncomfortable about the way mel never speaks directly to viktor in the 'build hextech weapons' scene. she really only speaks to jayce. plenty of people have pointed this out already but like the one scene they actually share a meaningful interaction and she treats him like he's beneath her. all this after jayce has emphasized how important viktor is, that hextech is theirs, together. she unequivocally ices him out, there's no other way to interpret this scene. the way it's shot too - from viktor's perspective, looking up at her, as though to reinforce the same belief in him. like he doesn't even bother expecting respect from her - or anyone from the upper echelon of piltover. he's fully accustomed to being dehumanized by everyone around him at this point. sometimes even by jayce, despite the trust they clearly have in each other.
then of course after this scene is viktor experimenting on himself. it's pretty clear that he has internalized his own dehumanization. crazy.
#dont open these tags unless you want to read an essay im so serious#quick disclaimer i do properly ship jayvik as of s2e9 aha#sorry abt the like. spam. but yk this what rewatching an insanely detailed show with fresh eyes does to a mfer#arcane#.txt#i think mel and jayce (among others) both exhibit the same kind of casual classism#jayce somewhat more obviously with his whole 'the zaunites are dangerous' spiel#and mel more subtly. its in the way she shows very little concern for the plight of the undercity until yk. it explodes in her face#she's been on the council for a decade. has done little but rub elbows with the elites of piltover and amass her own fortune#pretty clear she hasn't so much as blinked at the horrific state of zaun. this makes her a very willing participant in its oppression fyi#and then of course her treatment of viktor#ive seen it pretty heavily debated and i don't really see any reason to deny or defend these actions of hers#likewise when jayce accosts viktor and reprimands him for going to the undercity or makes a hextech weapon there's no reason to excuse him#these are clear examples of classist behaviour and i dont think it does anybody any favours to ignore it#jayvik#<-tagged bc those who do not want to read criticism of or about mel will likely have it blocked#im not here to stir the pot thanks#there's also something a bit kooky about the idea of 2 privileged rich kids commiserating about the sad state of the undercity#meanwhile a literal resident of said undercity whose perspective they could REALLY use is dying in a lab using his own body to try and#cure a common zaunite ailment/disease#meanwhile they wont help until they feel piltover is 'safe' (aka has WMDs to use against any perceived threat aha....)#anyway#its all very complicated and i dont doubt that their intentions were good (...mostly) but the road to hell and all that#it just rly bothers me that viktor was like. right there. a wealth of insight into zaun. and neither jayce nor mel even bother engaging him

it just makes me so angry that the debilitating pain and fatigue endometriosis causes are barely discussed and the disease is always talked about in relation to fertility and pain during penetration. and in the second there's so much pressure on the woman to accommodate and never the suggestion that the male partner needs to have sympathy and find different ways to have sex. sometimes you find a doctor researching or discussing "endo belly" which is one of the terrible symptoms but also such a stupid term to refer to severe painful constipation and with too much emphasizes on appearance and "shame". like can we talk about the chronic pain and fatigue? can we talk about the endometrial tissue causing nerve damage and organ failure? no I'm not talking about my uterus and ovaries exclusively no my concern is not my infertility it's the tissue on my diafragma that has been bothering me to breath
#3 years now and I'm still not used to all the bullshit#I already feel like it's stupid that I have to see an 'specialist' because the average gynecologist doesn't know how to treat the most#common gynecological disease. but then you go to the endo specialist just to hear 'I don't treat pain I treat infertility'#am I a clown???#.txt

I don't think I've seen it so I'm gonna ask. What do people in the RK verse swear to/ how do they curse? Or other fun little conversation facts.
I saw one think 'oh sweet scents' which is neat.
Are kids buds?
WELL! The big things both Roses and Dragons swear to is Gardenia and Forrest (seen as the Original Rose and Dragon, when the races officially stopped being seen as the same thing) but other curse words include things relating to smells, wood and salt! I'm trying to keep things PG, but those with imaginations can probably think of other colorful swears the RK world have XD And yes! Kid Roses are known as buds. Most buds are White Roses before they got their first color, but you can still be a bud even if you're not white anymore
#Rose Knights#Kid Dragons are called saplings sometimes!#although “YOU BLOODY GREEN STICK” and “ANKLE-BITING PEST” are more common things to call young dragons XD#Bugs have a few choice curse words involving plagues and disease#Spiders just go straight for the F and S words/silly

cursed daughter of a blessed mother who is the blessed daughter of a cursed mother who is the cursed daughter of a cursed mother
#star's shinies#khr#uni khr#yuni khr#personally I subscribe to the parthenogenesis theory of sky arcobaleno creation#it would explain their lack of partner (earthling genes should be diluted over generations if they were mating with humans#and there is no confirmed fathers)#the short and somewhat deranged (looking at you Luce) timeframes#their short lifespans could also be a byproduct of this! a common issue in genetically identical populations is that#a) offspring will always inherit any genetic disease or predispositions the parent had#and b) that unless there is a random mutation populations cannot adapt to changes- in this case it could be human diet#air quality#disease#pretty much anything considering how little we know about Earthlings#essentially whatever caused Sepira's death her descendants would also be very vulnerable to#this could also explain why the pacifier doesn't pass outside their family!#if they are all an unbroken line of clones it may all read them as the same owner#in a normal situation its not very likely for a stronger sky to never be born in the whole world#especially considering the arms races the Underworld is always in regarding stronger flames weapons and powers (estraneo)#all this to explain why I drew her belly button as the black lily symbol (I thought it was a cute idea) which you can barely see anyway lol

Rereading Contagion and with 20 years of hindsight it is incredibly funny how much of this story just involves characters coughing and sneezing on each other because transmission is “aerosol mucous” and they want to illustrate all the transmission paths. And yet outside of the CDC lab nobody is trying to use any sort of PPE.
#Also as is especially common for plague stories written post widespread vaccination#it heavily overestimates what sort of disease fatality rate is necessary to make people panic#these sort of stories are always killing 30+% of the infected

And on this Valentine’s I almost broke down in tears at a wife’s dedication to her heart surgeon husband whose brain is deteriorating with a rare case of dementia
#I shadowed the doctor for the first time today and almost broke down in tears multiple times listening to her talk about her story#he performed his last heart surgery last October. and ever since he’s been fading away and had to retire. rapid onset but behavior changes#were happening over the last like 6 years#this HEART SURGEON BRAINIAC started chewing tobacco in his 60s beyond his wife’s knowledge. a very common sign of this brain disease#I’m still in clinic but have to ride down to the office and get some chart stuff done now and I’m like?? spiraling about it still#at least love is real. they’ve been married for 45 years and she’s on top of her shit taking caring of him all by herself#and she only has glowing things to say about him#she wants her heart surgeon husband back but he’s fading away#I’ve wanted to be a doctor my whole life but I’m such a crybaby OK I’m going now#happy valentine’s day#p#v day

ok my OTHER reflection:
on the one hand its really frustrating to see the posts about docs and healthcare in general on here be so narrow-minded. bad experiences with certain providers have lead to a huge spread of misinformation and mistrust with the whole system. which can and HAS lead to people avoiding 'evil' doctors for perfectly treatable illnesses and dying from them (the vaccine bullshit, anyone?)
but on the other hand. it is TERRIFYING how some of these docs practice medicine. at times i think 'are you just burned out and don't give a shit or are you straight up just stupid?' and i work in critical care. where quite literally every case is life or death. even in the academic sector where there is supposedly a standard of excellence, some doctors i would not let touch my loved ones with a ten foot pole.
and that sucks. i know this is the no nuance piss on the poor webbed site but 'the medical system and people that work for it are fallible and aspects of it are morally questionable at best/unethical at worst' AND 'the field of medicine exists to help people first and foremost and mistrusting/avoiding it can be detrimental in the long run' can and DO co-exist
#also. folks i hate to tell you but 'doctors get big pharma kickbacks and they can cure you but just choose not to to get more money'#is a very tempting conspiracy theory. but it is SO UNTRUE.#hey listen. if someone is telling you they can 'cure' your disease magically if you just take x vitamin THEY ARE LYING#even miraculous cures like bone marrow transplants for autoimmune disease and CAR-T therapy#have such severe side-effects that they quite literally kill you#i can't tell you how many times i've taken care of people who#had their cancer 'cured' but the treatment ruined their kidneys/heart/lungs#or fucked their immune system so bad that a common bacteria could completely take them out#anyone selling you miracles is L Y I N G#i understand that a lot of this anger is around disability and chronic illness and psych and i get that. intimately.#its 100% accurate to say that a patient who researched independently about ehlers-danlos or POTS knows more about it than i do.#and its hard to see the profession as 'people who sincerely ARE trying to help' when you actively work with people who fucking suck#and you think like 'you went to school. you went through all this training. you (presumably) passed boards'#we should have at least around the same level of knowledge#but that is often not the case#still#making large scale statements about an entire profession (especially when its supposed to be a civic service) is just... not good#my two cents rec for this is:#if you think you have something rare or unusual try to find a doc that specialized in this i.e. go to an academic center.#trainees are less set in their ways and can think outside the box PLUS if there are new/innovative treatments they would have them#if you need pretty much ANY surgery. private is the way to go#you want surgeons with high volume and experience#surgical techniques do not change on the dime. most havent changed in 50+ years. a lot of other medicine DOES#(this of course does not apply to specialized surgeries like whipple or PTE or schwannoma resection - go to academics for that)#if its REALLY rare whether medical or surgical your GP will not know what to do with you#academic centers are referral centers. they are more likely to have the right tools to diagnose/treat#where was i going with this?#oh yeah i had an odd interaction with an ED doc admitting to me last night that was NOT practicing within current standard of care#and was just so casual and assured i started to doubt MYself. like. am I the crazy one?!?!#like i'm young i dont know everything SURE
