Before it was an acronym for Massive Unknown Terrestrial Organism, Muto was the name of a lemon-headed mutant who was the archenemy of Superman XX, the 30th Century Superman of 2966.

Later, when these tales were reprinted, the year was changed to 2466 to explain why this Superman never interacted with the Legion of Super-Heroes.
