Introduction & Summary
We're developing "My Life: The Video Game," a narrative-driven, first-person simulation-visual novel game centered around a 16-year-old teenager named Taylor, who returns to high school after years of homeschooling. Our game emphasizes mental health and healing, featuring engaging stories, relatable characters, and gameplay mechanics that highlight the importance of empathy and self-care. This is a chance to contribute to a game with the potential to resonate deeply with players, encouraging empathy and self-awareness.
Available Positions and Job Descriptions
As a solo aspiring indie developer, I'm seeking skilled individuals to join me in bringing this project to life. Remote, freelance/contract-based positions are available in the following roles:
Unity Developer (C# Programmer): Proficient in C# and Unity, responsible for implementing gameplay features, collaborating with me, and ensuring the game runs smoothly.
2D Artist: Create 2D artwork and assets that align with the game's modern-day city setting and high school environment, including character designs, environments, and props. The art style is a unique mix of abstract (think “Journey”) and hand-drawn (think “Ori and the Blind Forest”), aiming for an atmospheric, emotional tone.
2D Animator: Bring characters and environments to life through fluid animations, working closely with the artist to maintain a consistent visual style.
UI/UX Designer: Design intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces that enhance the player experience and align with the game's themes.
All positions are remote, with the possibility of extending into long-term roles. Candidates with multiple skill sets are welcome to apply for multiple positions if desired. These are unpaid/rev-share positions, ideal for individuals passionate about storytelling and mental health awareness. When the project finds success, team members will be the first considered for compensated work.

Ideal candidates are passionate about storytelling and creating meaningful gaming experiences. Strong communication skills, the ability to work independently, and relevant experience in game development are essential.
The Project and Our Mission
As the creator and solo developer, I'm an aspiring game designer passionate about creating meaningful stories and immersive experiences. I believe in the power of games to promote understanding and empathy around important topics like mental health. "My Life: The Video Game" is my way of contributing to this mission, raising awareness, and fostering a sense of connection and support among players.
The game follows the story of Taylor, a teenager who faces challenges as they return to high school after years of homeschooling. It tackles themes such as anxiety, self-discovery, and the importance of friendship and understanding. By crafting an engaging narrative and relatable characters, I aim to create a powerful gaming experience that resonates with players and encourages conversations about mental well-being.

Nimona Tangled AUs are awesome, but one scene in particular will always have me jumping around my room and singing in excitement and joy, and it's not any romance scene.

This scene in particular was incredible, because despite how all of their dreams compared to Rapunzel's dream seemed so much bigger, they cheered for her so loudly and even helped her escape at the end so she could have a chance in achieving it. She was kind to them, and never judged their dreams, listening enthusiastically and when her turn came up she says "I just want to see the glowing laterns gleam" and they cheer for her.
Freedom and following your dreams, no matter how small they are in comparison to others, will always be my biggest take away from Tangled, next to the fact that your dream doesn't have to be a goal, It can be a person too.
Having Ambrosius dance around a room, listening to other's stories and then finally having a chance to share his with people that seem to care and relate is just the best thing to me.

where'd you draw inspiration for T&TA and how long did it take you to comprise a legible script [a fellow, curious- and pretty young writer]
The most immediate inspirations for Time and Time Again were Jaws, Quantum Leap, and Psych. I grew up watching a ton of detective type shows and so there's a lot of background radiation in my brain taken up by those. I tend not to take much stock in inspiration though, and generally am comfortable just powerhousing through things (it's kind of what I went to school for). Inspiration happens when it happens, but if it doesn't, my work still needs to get done!
It took me about 7 months to write the first season, which is 4 complete stories. To be clear, though, I don't script! I outline major character events, and then I make about 100 more detailed outlines until I get to one that hits all the development points I want and feels interesting to me. This takes me weeks of writing sometimes 10+ pages a day, putting together boards with strings, etc. until I feel I've got an outline of events that I'm happy with!
I actually get to writing and finessing dialogue while I'm making thumbnails, and 1 episode can take me anywhere from a day to 2 weeks. The longest ones are when they're arguing, and I'm struggling with the minutiae of the implications of their words, where I want them both to be sympathetic without making their dialogue feel unnatural.
So, one complete arc takes me about 4-6 months from start to finish, I think.
My writing is at its best when I get to plan everything up front, and it's at its worst when I'm forced to deliver week-to-week and I can't see the whole story as it is. But, I've also been writing for a long time and I know myself and my process pretty well! Every writer is different, and some people need a lot more time than others. Let yourself relax, don't try to do things "the right way" because there is no right way. Just make stories! Make the process fun for you, and your skills will grow the more stories you tell. As long as you're having fun, the stories are serving their purpose.

And now, for something completely different!
I know, everyone. The wait is over. Your prayers have been answered. I *know* your lifelong dream has always been to race an air ship with *my* characters on it. I know you've always wanted to sail through the skies repping Val and his little heart shaped pasties for all the world to see. This is a skin I was asked to make by my dear friend Matt from Data Sparrow, an art collective that creates "mechanically bizarre, stylish-looking tabletop games and a vast, varied sci-fi universe tying the whole thing together." The Freccia is a ship from Data Sparrow's racing board game, Shardana Hydro Trail GP, adapted to work as a hover-ship in BallisticNG.
I had an absolute blast designing this thing. It sticks out like a sore thumb among the more vibrant and streamlined liveries Data Sparrow has lovingly crafted, but I love the juxtaposition of the spunky illustrated designs with the sleek shape of the Freccia. I grew up hanging around a musty old hobby shop filled with model boats and cars, and I've also made custom liveries for me and my friends' real cars, but there were always limits to what my resources could make with regards to printing and cutting decals. It was so much fun to make a whole wrap, and see it all come together, with no limitations! The Priro Freccia, the "Planefum Boatstalgique," if you will, has a livery option built into the BallisticNG mod, which can be found here. If you'd like to check out Shardana, or any of Data Sparrow's games, I'd highly recommend you do so. Even if sci-fi isn't your thing, you will seriously be missing out if you don't at least take a gander at their works. What sold me the most on them was how easy they were for me to pick up, even as an autistic person who commonly struggles with understanding tabletop games. Their systems are written in a way that makes it really stress-free for some fun nights with friends, where you can immerse yourself in a world that was clearly crafted with love.
