After knowledge of Superboy boing Superman's clone comes out the following laws are written:

1) The clone has the right to chose whether to live with their template or with their creator after being conscious for an year and is physically looks old enough to be able to make and express opinions about people.

2) The template has the right to sue to child support if the clone decides to live with them.

3) The clone is their own person. They have the right to choose a name, go to school (it is not mandatory though) and everything else a meta/human has the right to.

Superman sues Lex Luthor not because he doesn't make enough money to support his Kon and Jon but because he got ✨trauma✨.

Danny sues Vlad Masters and Lex Luthor (the man accidentally cloned him and said clone wants to live with him... Go figure) with enough proof about all of his clones existence, creation and creators (all thanks to Clockwork).

And we get Jack finally stop seeing Vlad as friend... As a treat.

okay. so. anakin and padme get Secretly Married, right? anakin doesn't really care about the legal side, the ceremony itself was enough for him--tatooine slaves don't exactly put much stock in things like the law or written documentation--but padme does, so she decides that she's the one in charge of formalizing the marriage.

now, the only thing that makes it possible for her to formalize the marriage while still keeping it secret is the Naboo practice of allowing their politicians and other notable figures to do things like marry under a pseudonym that is neither their legal nor their public names, so that's not a problem. however, those pseudonyms are still (secretly) linked to their legal identities, which means that, as is usually the case with these things, you still have to prove that you legally exist and that you are who you say you are. padme just uses her birth certificate and passport for herself. proving that anakin legally exists is...much harder.

padme tries the jedi temple first. it's the obvious choice, right? unfortunately, when she goes to their holosite to fill out the government forms, she realizes that a) the order is not in the habit of allowing outsiders easy access to their members' documents and, worse, b) if she applies for access to anakin's legal documents it's going to leave a paper trail leading straight to the marriage certificate right under their noses. oh no. she can't do that. not formalizing the marriage might honestly be better than that.

okay. fine. no problem. she'll just look in tatooine's registry of public records.

...tatooine does not have a registry of public records. or any registries that padme can locate. it barely has a planetary government website, which padme's pretty sure is completely defunct.

maybe the lars farm? it's unlikely, but perhaps shmi brought her and anakin's legal documents with her when cliegg bought and then freed her. so she (barely) manages to clear her schedule enough for a half-hour terrible-quality call (not even a holocall, just voice transmission) with cliegg lars, whose number she still has from just before the war started.

cliegg tells her that shmi hadn't even had a spare set of clothing when watto had sold her, much less any legal documents.

so. the lars are a bust. but what else is there? she wants to ask anakin to grab his own legal documents from the order's archives, because he wouldn't have to apply, but that would still leave a paper trail, and besides they're both so busy that it completely slips her mind whenever they get a free moment together. but she's still determined to do this, so she needs to find someone other than the order with a document that proves that anakin legally exists.

and then she remembers: watto.

clearing her schedule enough for a one-and-a-half-day trip to tatooine is about ten times harder than clearing her schedule for the call with cliegg, but she finally manages it. she brings a fresh datapad and several guns with her. watto is deeply annoying, and he keeps talking about her husband like he's a fucking prize, and also he's an incredibly terrible record-keeper, but padme finally finds something she can use--a (badly-written) contract detailing the sale of one anakin skywalker to one qui-gon jinn.

(she also decides to steal almost all of his money, leave him just absolutely broke, because she's that fed up with him and this whole situation.)

she studies the contract in-depth as she's in hyperspace. it does, in fact, prove that anakin legally exists--finally!--but she immediately spots a related issue: according to this contract, qui-gon was anakin's legal owner before he died. except that jedi are Really Really Not Allowed to own slaves, and--she has to check the books to be sure, but her suspicions are correct--because of some old treaties between the republic and some slaver empire, if a jedi buys a slave, ownership transfers to the institution of the jedi order rather than the slave automatically being freed.

which means that unless the order specifically freed her husband, he's still legally a slave.

(she thinks. it's a very badly-written contract.)

what does she do? if she goes poking around in the jedi archives, even without the paper trail, people are going to ask questions they can't afford being asked. and she doesn't know where else to find such a document. should she hire a hacker or something? should she ask anakin about it? does he even know? (he does, he found the same laws when he was 12, but padme doesn't know that he knows.) the war and the growing corruption of the senate keeps her so busy, but this isn't something she can just ignore! her husband might still be a slave! what the hell does she even do??

in desperation, she finds herself going to an outside party, one with an understanding of the law and hopefully an investment in her husband's well-being. it's risky. it's so risky. but nevertheless, she marches in and says:

"commander fox, i have an urgent request of you."

and to try to restore balance you reshuffle the dynamics that best adhere those that didn’t hold and the arguing and violence and stress and- but you forgot one singular component amongst all the constantly turning cogs because usually they’re functioning in the background, stress free (so he thought) - dick forgot to give Tim nightwing .

CW mutilation: Fox’s right hand index-finger: “Ahsoka’s Gift” - In the arc where Fives (appears) to get shot by Fox, enraged by this and by her treatment by the Coruscant guard during her trial arc, Ahsoka takes revenge on the offending digit that shot the gun. With her teeth, btw — it gets a bit wild. Side-note: It factors in for the other clones that Fox is not right-handed, but that’s the hand he uses to shoot Fives. Then again, most clones are trained/raised/adjusted to be ambidextrous, so — it’s just odd all around, from the outside.

GAR armor: In keeping with the AU title and inspiration (Repurposing GAR armor towards the end of pulverizing wrinkly Sith — A guide by CC-1010, ecstatically-ex-marshal commander of Coruscant), Fox has kept his GAR shoulder-guards, a cutout of his chestplate, and knee-guards (plus one shin-guard), though the paint on them has been adjusted or worn.

Oversized sleeve: Beneath the batwing sleeve and dramatic flair, Fox is hiding whatever the rebellion uses instead of the Mandalorian Whistling Birds, in addition to an elbow-mini-blaster that fires a max of four shots, and extra ammo. (Also the sleeve is removable — think detachable bridal train)

CW self-destruction: On the reverse side of his chest-plate piece, Fox has an explosive device with multiple ways to rig it to explode. While it is detachable and likely could be used to explode OTHER things, the primary intent is a last resort gesture of defiance should he run out of other options.

Fox also has a replaced tooth (which he makes use of, but no spoilers here) and a metal plate protecting the surgery point for when his chip was removed. Since Fox is Fox, he prioritized speed over care at the time, so it is permanent vulnerability due to how his skull was treated and recovered afterward.

In celebration of mishamshanks(and Franky's) birthday yesterday here's a little conundrum.

*8SPOILER WARNING IF YOU ARE NOT UP TO DATE WITH THE MANGA**

We know shanks is the younger son of Figarland Garling and he has a twin brother

We know that shanks was found by the Roger Pirates in a treasure chest at least 1 year after his birth. After God Valley

We know at some point Shanks went back to his biological family met with them presumably asked some questions about his parentage and left again

Oda years and years ago tells us that Mihawk and Shanks are born on March 9th

We have no official date for when God Valley took place we just know it was 38 years ago.

As so presumably Figarland Shamrock, older son of Figarland Garling and twin of Shanks was also born on March 9th.

But I ask you what if not?

What is March 9th is actually not Shanks' actual date of birth but instead the day he was found. Yes I propose that March 9th was the day of God valley and the Roger Pirates found baby Shanks and decided to give him that day as his "birthday" because a group of guys that looked at a sweet little baby and named him Shanks would definitely take the day of an international incident that almost ended in the wiping out of a continent and make it his birthday.

And so I ask you is Oda saying Shanks was born on March 9th word of god? That is his real birthday and young baby shanks just had no idea all through out his childhood until he later meets up with his father and twin brother and they tell him? Or is it the in world birthday he has always celebrated and so retroactively becomes a plot point and the date of the god valley incident or atleast the day after at most? because how could Roger or any of the roger pirates know when Shanks was actually born? At best their ship doctor could make an educated guess on how many months old he was and work backwards from there but that feels over complicated and unnecessary when we could just tell little baby shanks that he's an International incident baby and that's way more funny. And Shanks continues to celebrate that birthday even when he learns his real one because the Roger Pirates where his real family and it's already his favorite day because it just so happens to be the day the world gave him his favorite little birdy.

So ladies and gentlemen of the jury I ask you this. March 9th or not March 9th that is the question. Maybe we will never really know, maybe (probably) oda doesn't even care and it really doesn't matter. AND MAYBE I am thinking really hard about a day Oda assigned to shanks because the kanji matched his name. But whose to say ladies and gentlemen who is to say.

My second favorite cute mishanks birthday headcanon is that Mihawk didn't have a birthday because no one had ever bothered to celebrate it or he was never really round people and so he just didn't know when he was born and he tells this so casually to Shanks who is so aghast at this fact, and so enamored by this absolute little weirdo that his heart aches for him and he decides to share his and thus Mishanks same birthday was born adorable.

But forever my favorite birthday headcanon is that Shanks will do anything to have them celebrate together and Mihawk always indulges him (and yes shanks is definitely a birthday week kinda guy but he leaves the last day their actual birthday to do anything mihawk wants) And they always send each other little gifts even during the divorce era no matter where they are in the world no matter the distance or bad blood between them every year on march 9th they open a gift from the other. ohhh my heart 😭

Momma Shaak and Poppa Plo file a marriage certificate on coruscant so they can legally adopt the clones. An investigative reporter finds out about the certificate and does an exposé on marriage in the Order. The 37 times obi-wan has accidentally gotten married on various planets come to light, among others.

This leads to a Debate for the Council. Shaak and Plo vote in favor of marriage so they can keep their clones. Obi-Wan does because he wants to stay a Jedi. Ki-Adi Mundi is canonically married and votes yes. Yoda votes yes to be a troll. Mace votes yes bc he has a headache of the shatterpoints. The rest of the Council votes no and it’s left to Anakin to break the tie. He votes to legalize his own marriage, thus foiling palpatine’s plots.

Of course, there’s an outbreak of marriages after this edict goes through. From Jedi falling for their clone commanders, or an unlikely nightsister ally, to all sorts of likely and unlikely pairings!
