"The researchers have not tested the process on humans, and it’s not clear what dosage of dye or delivery method would be necessary. Human skin is about 10 times thicker than that of a mouse, according to the researchers.
“Looking forward, this technology could make veins more visible, easing … the procedure of drawing blood or administering fluids via a needle — especially for elderly patients with veins that are difficult to locate,” said senior author Guosong Hong, a Stanford assistant professor of materials science, via email.
“Moreover, this innovation could assist in the early detection of skin cancer, improve light penetration for deep tissue treatments like photodynamic and photothermal therapies, and make laser-based tattoo removal more straightforward.”"

EYESURGERYANTALYA - GOLD
Tumblr media
Are you considering eye laser surgery in Turkey? This bustling nation has rapidly become a top destination for individuals seeking advanced eye care treatments at affordable prices. Procedures such as eye laser surgery not only offer a chance for clearer vision but also feature state-of-the-art technology and highly qualified specialists. Additionally, options like trifocal lens surgery and blepharoplasty further enhance your overall eye health and appearance. With its rich culture and scenic beauty, Turkey makes for an appealing backdrop while you undergo transformative treatments.
Eye laser surgery turkey
When considering eye laser surgery Turkey, patients are often drawn by the combination of advanced technology and affordable prices. This type of surgery, often referred to as LASIK, uses state-of-the-art lasers to correct common vision problems such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. Many clinics in Turkey offer experienced surgeons and modern facilities, making it a popular destination for those seeking improved vision.
One of the main advantages of choosing Turkey for eye laser surgery is the significant cost savings compared to many Western countries. Patients can expect to save anywhere from 30% to 70% on the total cost of the procedure, including travel expenses. This affordability often does not compromise quality, as many Turkish clinics adhere to international standards and boast accreditations from recognized bodies.
Additionally, the pre-operative consultations and post-operative care are typically thorough, ensuring that patients feel comfortable and informed throughout their journey. With a growing number of success stories, eye laser surgery in Turkey continues to gain popularity, making it an appealing option for those looking to enhance their vision safely and effectively.
Trifocal lens surgery turkey
Trifocal lens surgery Turkey is rapidly gaining recognition as an innovative solution for those seeking to improve their vision. This advanced surgical procedure allows patients to obtain clear vision at multiple distances, reducing the need for glasses or contact lenses. With the help of cutting-edge technology and skilled surgeons, many individuals are experiencing enhanced quality of life through this transformative surgery.
Many clinics in Turkey offer a comprehensive package for trifocal lens surgery, including pre-operative evaluations and post-operative care. These packages often come at a fraction of the cost compared to Western countries, making Turkey an attractive destination for medical tourism. Patients can not only experience substantial cost savings but also take advantage of the robust medical infrastructure available in the country, ensuring a safe and comfortable surgical experience.
Furthermore, the success rates for trifocal lens surgery in Turkey are impressive, with many patients achieving satisfactory results within days of the procedure. The procedure itself is typically quick, minimally invasive, and performed with precision, allowing for faster recovery times. As more individuals learn about the benefits of this procedure, Turkey continues to solidify its reputation as a leader in ophthalmic surgery.
Blepharoplasty turkey
Blepharoplasty, commonly known as eyelid surgery, is an increasingly popular cosmetic procedure in Turkey. It involves the removal of excess skin, fat, and muscle from either the upper or lower eyelids to enhance the appearance of the eyes and provide a more youthful look.
Turkey has become a top destination for blepharoplasty due to its combination of skilled surgeons and affordable prices. Many individuals from around the globe are seeking these procedures in major cities such as Istanbul, where advanced medical facilities and experienced professionals abound.
Patients considering blepharoplasty Turkey can expect a thorough consultation where doctors assess individual needs and create tailored treatment plans. Post-operative care and follow-ups are also essential components of the surgery, ensuring that patients achieve the best possible results with minimal complications.

Real Skincare Guide
Tumblr media
Level 1: breakouts, non-painful, a little scarring
Minimize your skincare routine, all you need is an oil cleanser (if you wear a lot of makeup) than a good foam cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen. Repeat the same routine before bed just without the sunscreen.
Wear sunscreen everyday!!!
Always apply more moisturizer than you think you need.
Drink a lot of water (2-3LT)
Get consistent sleep
Take a multi vitamins to balance your hormones. I recommend the One-A-Day Woman’s Vitamins (get a real pill cause the gummies don’t have enough iron)
Work on your stress (breathe work, meditate, journal, yoga, walks, going out with friends, therapy, etc)
Look at what body oils/shampoo/conditioner you are using. Could be your akin reacting poorly to something in there.
Level 2: consistant breakouts, acne, scarring
All the stuff for Level 1 apply.
Minimize your skincare routine and than slowly add back in stuff like hydrochloric acid and retinol. Having an elaborate skincare will just make your skin worse. First, focus on healing your skin barrier.
If you are a teenager, it just might be your hormones/growing pains. It will go away eventually.
Pimple Patches work and are especially good if you are trying to stop touching your face.
Wash your pillow cases every 1-2 weeks.
Try to sleep on your back.
If you pop a pimple than apply an antibiotic ointment.
No point in using anti-aging products if you are under the age of 25. It just won’t do anything for you.
Note that if you take in a lot of nicotine you will breakout. If you smoke and you have bad skin, it probably won’t improve unless you quit or lessen the dosage.
Level 3: painful consistent breakouts/acne/scars, redness, irritability, hurts,
Go see a dermatologist!
Acne is can be a real problem. If your acne is painful seek professional help.
If Accutane is recommended, than I would do it. Based only on the experiences of my friends, I have seen great results after a couple months. There are side effects and it is not for everyone but if a professional says you should than I might consider it.
No topical treatment is going to make those scars go away. You are going to need to laser resurfacing which is like this secret treatment rich people do to clear up their skin. It is expensive but really works. Beauty brands want you to think that the right cream can clear up your skin but if you have bad scarring you are only going to see real results with laser treatments
All of the above recommendations still apply
Your acne does not take away from your beauty or your worth as a human being. Remember that acne is normal and social media is fake.

Bi-annual Fraxel treatments
Annual CO2 treatments for under-eye area

I'm sure he does. He's an actor, he wears makeup when he's filming and also at events, so I'm sure he knows how to keep his skin clean and clear.
Not only that, but since he has a groomer and is in the public eye, I’m sure he does some treatments as well - a facial, a bit of a laser, etc. His skin is fantastic, he obviously takes care of it including slathering himself in sunscreen.
I’m jealous. He probably gets the best skin care products!
Yeah, but at the same time he probably doesn't even need that much. His face is already so beautiful 🥺

A beautician is following me for laser hair removal (I am 16 years old and I started about a year ago). My beautician’s boss once checked my hair situation, and she was surprised I still had so many. So you told me I might have PCOS. Then I got scared because I didn’t know anything about it, and I talked to my mom about it. She told me that in fact, especially before, I was "a monkey", although, while I felt uncomfortable with my hair, I never realized I had so much out of the ordinary. We’ll go deeper to see if the beautician was right, but in the meantime, I wanted to talk to someone about it, see if you know anything about PCOS, like how it affects menstruation or anything else.
Having a notable amount of body hair that's above the "norm" is called hirsutism, which is a symptom of hyperandrogenism, and both of those are symptoms of PCOS.
PCOS stands for polycystic ovary syndrome. Despite the name, you do not have to actually have ovarian cysts to have it, although it's likely.
Three main signs of PCOS are:
Hyperandrogenism (which can manifest things such as "excess" body hair, deeper voice, facial hair, clitoromegaly, acne, hair loss in certain areas such as the head--although, everyone's body processes androgens ("male" sex hormones) differently, so not everyone will present with as strong signs of androgenization, even if they have a high level of androgens in their body)
Irregular periods. This can mean a variety of things. Periods can be far longer than other's, such as over a week. They might happen less often in a year, happening in a time frame over than ~28 days for each. Some people might have much lighter periods than most people or even shorter periods, only a few days. Some people might have large blood clots or extreme pain. Endometriosis can occur with PCOS, which often causes extremely painful periods. Pain is not necessary for irregular periods, though. This can also affect your ovulation cycle as well as your fertility.
Polycystic ovaries. Ovaries can become enlarged or inflamed and have multiple fluid filled sacs that often cause pain (although they might not).
Hyperandrogenism, hirsutism, and PCOS often go hand in hand. It can be hard to tell if someone has hyperandrogenism or PCOS, in some cases, especially since hyperandrogenism is a symptom of PCOS and cysts aren't necessary to be diagnosed with it. Some people might have hyperandrogenism for no "real" reason, whereas for others it is believed their hyperandrogenism and PCOS have a medical link. There are definitely cases where these variations in bodies aren't inherently indistinguishable from the other. A medical diagnosis is often useful because it allows for treatment if the patient desires it.
So, to be clear, based on what you describe, it's incredibly likely you have hirsutism, in which cause you may have hyperandrogenism (which, in turn, is a symptom of PCOS).
It's completely okay to be scared. Unknown things are scary, as is learning new things about our body. PCOS may sound like a scary syndrome, but it is incredibly common. Many women and people live with it. Many intersex people view it as an inherently intersex variation, as do they with hyperandrogenism and hirsutism.
While it's important to note that there are gatekeepers who do not, and these people are frowned upon by the vast majority of the intersex community and are often perisex (non-intersex) people.
Some other effects hyperandrogenism/PCOS might have include:
Oily skin
Predisposition to being fat
Smaller breasts
Insulin resistance
Increased libido
Increased muscle mass
Visible Adam's apple
More ambiguous genitalia (ties in with clitoromegaly)
If you have any other questions, feel free to send them! You are not alone. I wish you much luck on your intersex journey. And this is just some unwarranted advice, but do your best to be confident in yourself and your body. Don't let people try to influence you to do things to it or change it, especially with permanent procedures, unless it's something you've truly examined that you want, and not because others have pressured you, told you it's necessary when it isn't, or because you've been overall socially pressured to.
And I relate to that monkey comment, lol. My mom has always called me her little monkey because I've always been super hairy (although in my case, I've always taken great pride in being called that). It's part of why I chose a Pokémon based on a monkey for my new icon!

Chapter 4: Medical Esthetic Procedure Contraindications
So you’re considering getting some medical esthetic procedures done. That’s hot! But before you schedule an appointment or consultation here’s a quick guide of contraindications to be aware of!!
Tumblr media
What is a Contraindication?
A contraindication is a condition we look for in the medical field that serves as a reason to not continue forward with a medical treatment due to potential harm the treatment may cause to a patient!
Laser Hair Removal:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Herpes and Cold Sores: Can you get laser hair removal with herpes or cold sores? Yes! But only if there is not an active breakout. We do warn the clients that the lasers we use are powerful enough to cause a herpes or cold sore breakout to occur so please proceed with caution!
Retinol: Use of Retinol’s are a huge no no! It can cause severe damage, burning or scaring if a laser is used! If you are on Retinol please stay off of it for 1 week before your laser hair removal procedure.
Seizures + Epilepsy: If you have a history of epilepsy please refrain from getting any laser or light treatment as it can induce seizures.
Bacterial Skin Infections: Infections can spread to other parts of the body if a laser is used.
Impetigo: This highly contagious superficial skin infection is something we as your medical esthetician should be aware of before continuing with treatment.
Cellulitis: This infection of the dermis and subcutaneous tissue should be cleared before you continue with any laser or light therapy.
Folliculitis: Laser treatments are not performed in areas of folliculitis but several hair removal lasers have been approved by the FDA for pseudofolliculitis barbae treatment.
Fungal Infections: Ringworm and Yeast Infections can not be treated with laser or light therapy until cleared.
Viral Infections: Active viruses are considered major contraindications for laser and light therapy.
Shingles: If there is an active outbreak laser treatment will not be used.
Common Skin Warts (HPV): Although some lasers are used to remove persistent warts, they are still considered contraindications.
Atopic Dermatitis (Eczema): You will not be disqualified as a candidate for laser treatment, unless the outbreak is in an area of proposed treatment.
Open Lesions, Rashes and Sunburns: This includes open lesions from picking at the skin. Any unknown lesions or rashes will be considered contraindications. Sunburns are known to disrupt the skin barrier and are considered contraindications. Any suspicious lesions should always be evaluated by a physician prior to treatment.
Accutane: You must be off of Accutane for at least six months to a year, depending on a physician’s preference prior to treatment with laser or light therapy.
Immediate Post-Operative Face Lift, Blepharoplasty or Neck Lift: Treatment is avoided for clients who are in post op from these treatments until a physician has given approval for laser or light treatment.
Pregnancy and Lactation: Pregnancy and lactation are considered contraindications women who are pregnant or lactating, should wait after pregnancy + breastfeeding so a child will not be exposed before beginning or continuing laser or light treatment.
Laser Tattoo Removal:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Laser tattoo removal shares the same contraindications as laser hair removal.
Red Tattoo Ink: Red tattoo ink is known to be allergenic. If you have experienced an allergic reaction to red tattoo ink, be aware that another allergic reaction may occur if a red ink tattoo is being removed by laser.
Retinol + Accutane
Pregnancy and Lactation
Bacterial Infections
Viral Infections
Fungal Infections
History of Epilepsy or Seizures
Open Skin Lesions, Sunburns and Rashes
Microneedling:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Herpes + Coldsores: Please wait until an outbreak is fully healed! Estheticians can avoid microneedling the mouth area if you do have an outbreak but it is best to wait until the outbreak is fully healed to avoid any spreading.
Active Acne: Areas of active acne can be skipped over but if there is an all over outbreak it is best to wait.
Rosacea: Clients with vascular rosacea can receive treatment, but not pustular or nodular rosacea wait until the information has settled.
Atopy, Asthma, Hay Fever and Allergies: Any patient with a history of allergies maybe prone to urticaria, after needling due to the release of histamines.
Anticoagulants: Any supplements, known to prolong, bleeding time, may not necessarily be discontinued from treatment, but the risk of bruising increases.
Drugs and Supplements Associated with Photosensitivity: Any drug and supplement that can cause photosensitivity including Accutane is considered a contraindication.
Fitzpatrick III and Above: Those with darker skin tones are not disqualified from treatment but it should be known that skin will appear puffy, bruising, if present might be visible in thin skinned areas and erythema (skin redness) when super-imposed on brown, appears much darker. Patience with melasma or post. Inflammatory hyperpigmentation must understand that lesions will appear darker for several months before improving.
PSA: There are certain ingredients to avoid using when it comes to dermal needling. Ingredients to avoid include preservatives, fragrances, emulsifiers, emollient acids, dyes, coloring agents, and UV filters
Before receiving a dermal needling treatment, you may be asked by your provider about allergy or medication, history, blood pressure/medication, bleeding disorders, eczema, psoriasis, immune system disorders, keloid, scarring, major illnesses, heart conditions, anemia and a lot of other general medical questions.

Recent Surgery or Scars: Wait 6 months
Open Lesions, Skin Diseases, Inflammation, Varicose Veins, Infection, Metal Implants, Metal Screws, Metal Contraceptive Coil + Prothesis/Silicone Implants: Area will be avoided
Antibiotics: Must wait until completed medication course
Depilatory Creams: Wait 2 weeks
IPL or Laser Treatment: Area that received laser or light therapy must wait 2 weeks before receiving body contouring.
Areas with Botox: Wait 3 months before receiving body contouring.
Areas with Dermal Filler: Wait 2 weeks before receiving body contouring.
Sun Tan: Will be avoided
Chronic Inflammation: Speak with your healthcare provider before proceeding forward with a body contouring treatment.
PSA: Before receiving body contouring, your hydration levels will be checked your body must be 40% or higher for your hydration level. Hydration levels below 40% can cause cat like scratch sensations when receiving body contouring. Which is why low levels of hydration are considered a contraindication and you must wait until your hydration levels are at 40% before receiving treatment.

Aftercare for Laser Tattoo Removal
Tumblr media
Images Source - dotcomwomen Laser tattoo removal is an effective way to erase unwanted tattoos, but proper aftercare is crucial for a smooth recovery and optimal results.
The process involves using high-intensity laser beams to break down the ink particles in your skin. After the session, your skin needs time to heal, and following the right aftercare steps can make a significant difference in both your comfort and the outcome.
Here’s everything you need to know about caring for your skin after laser tattoo removal
1.Keep the Area Clean and Dry After your laser removal session, the treated area may feel like a mild sunburn. It's essential to keep the area clean to prevent infection. Gently clean the site with mild soap and water, then pat it dry with a clean towel. Avoid scrubbing or rubbing the area, as it can irritate the skin and slow the healing process.
2. Apply an Antibiotic Ointment Your technician will likely recommend applying an antibiotic ointment, like Neosporin, to the treated area. This helps prevent infection and promotes healing. After cleaning the area, apply a thin layer of ointment and cover it with a sterile bandage. Change the bandage daily, or as instructed by your technician, to keep the area protected.
3. Avoid Sun Exposure The skin in the treated area will be sensitive and more prone to sun damage. Avoid direct sun exposure for at least two weeks after your session. If you have to be outside, cover the area or apply a high-SPF sunscreen (preferably SPF 30 or higher). Sun exposure can cause hyperpigmentation and prolong healing.
4. Manage Swelling and Discomfort It’s normal to experience some redness, swelling, or blistering after a laser tattoo removal session. You can manage swelling by applying a cold compress to the area for 10-15 minutes. Over-the-counter pain relievers, like ibuprofen, can help reduce discomfort and inflammation.
5. Avoid Picking or Scratching As your skin heals, it may scab or blister. This is a natural part of the healing process. It’s important not to pick at the scabs or pop any blisters, as doing so can lead to scarring or infection. Allow the scabs to fall off naturally.
6. Stay Hydrated and Rest Your body’s ability to heal depends on your overall health. Stay hydrated, eat nutrient-rich foods, and get plenty of rest to support the healing process. Avoid strenuous activities that may cause you to sweat excessively, as this can irritate the treated area.
7. Follow-Up Sessions Most tattoos require multiple laser sessions for complete removal, depending on the size, color, and depth of the ink. After each session, your skin needs time to heal, so allow at least 6-8 weeks between treatments. Follow your technician’s guidance for scheduling your next session.
Proper aftercare is key to ensuring your skin heals properly and the tattoo fades effectively. Be patient, follow these steps, and you’ll be on your way to achieving clear, healthy skin.

Dear Sephiroth: (a letter to a fictional character, because why not) #283
Our pigeon friend made it through the night alive. J and I woke up early this morning, got ready, put our avian friend in a cardboard box with a fluffy towel, and made our way to the animal hospital; we arrived promptly when it opened.
Given the state of the bathtub when we walked in, I'm pleased to report that it must have eaten at least somewhat recently before we scooped it up from the streets. I'm also pleased to report that our friends at the animal hospital happily took in our lovely bird friend. It will most likely get the treatment it needs to clear up whatever infection it has. I'll call tomorrow and ask for a status update.
We returned home after that. This autumn morning was beautifully misty in some places along the way. I got more than a few really nice-looking pictures for you…
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
…And in other places, the mist cleared to reveal spectacular skies:
Tumblr media
...Sadly, of all the ones I tried to take, this was the only one that turned out well. Part of the challenge of taking photos in a moving vehicle is trying to make the best of the angles that are allowed to you.
It's only 9:22am. Today is far from being even halfway over. I have a friend coming to visit (R, the baker!), and maybe we'll go see that Wild Robot movie all together - me, M, J, and R!
For now... I should probably clean up the tub. There aren't too terribly many droppings left behind, and they're mostly solid in consistency; they should be easy to clean up. I'll get rid of the droppings, then blast the inside of the tub with an enzymatic cleaner (the same stuff we use to clean up the urine whenever Hoshi has a seizure; it's good stuff!!). I'll let it sit for a while, then I'll rinse it out. After that, I'll follow it up with bleach and a good scrubbing pad. And don't worry; I will make sure to wash my hands between each step. I know that bird droppings are dangerous; I will take every precaution, I promise. Don't you worry about a thing, okay?
...The enzymatic cleaner has done away with most of the visible ick, which is awesome. I rinsed it away and the tub looks practically sparkly. I've since filled the tub halfway with a mixture of bleach and VERY hot water. Now we just sit and wait for it to work its chemical magic. Bleach is a powerful oxidizer; I'm pretty sure that's the mechanism by which it destroys most microorganisms.
It's such a powerful oxidizer that it will literally fucking oxidize your skin. And since it's a base, it'll strip away all the natural oils from your skin, too. It's bad to get the stuff on your hands! Wear gloves! It's important!
I'm gonna try to finish my current Dead Cells run. By then, the bleach will likely have sat in the tub long enough and then I can drain it and scrub it; it'll be good!
...
...So, remember when I said yesterday that if I reached The Hand of the King, he'd be in big trouble?
Well, let me tell ya!!! Today he got his ass handed to him!!! And I made it to the room beyond - a place called the Astrolab!!!
The Astrolab has all kinds of new and unusual enemies. You can only reach it if you defeat The Hand of the King with 5 Boss Cells active. Unfortunately, I didn't think to take a picture for you. I'm really sorry about that.
But!!! If I did it once, I can do it again!! And next time, I will remember to take pictures; I promise!!
Anyway. I got my ass handed to me by the new enemies there. Their patterns were unknown to me, and the structure of the biome was weird and unfamiliar. I got this one flying enemy called a Librarian; it shoots lasers out of the sky directly down on you, and it zooms just out of reach above you. I... panicked. Totally lost my cool. They do a lot of damage, and their movements are still unfamiliar to me. I got zapped until I got dead.
...Oh well. That's what the training room is for!! I'll just practice against all the new enemies until they don't seem so scary anymore; it'll be good!
Aside from that... R came over today! He brought an amazing soup that he made himself, and he also brought a brioche marbled with chocolate! It was SO GOOD!!!
Tumblr media
You can tell how good this one was by how little we have left, ahahaha~!
And the soup, too!!! Look at this beautiful soup!!!
Tumblr media
It's just as delicious as it is colorful!!! 🤩🤤🥰
We went to go see that Wild Robot movie after that. Sephiroth... one of these days, you GOTTA see it. It's about a robot that crash-lands somewhere that wasn't intentional, in a wild place, with lots of animals, and... it was outcast at first. And it finds a baby gosling, and...
...The relationship this robot has with the gosling reminds me a lot of the way your existence has helped me, even if that help was indirect and unintentional on your part. I won't explain more for fear of spoiling things, but... Sephiroth... just trust me, you HAVE to see this one. I promise you, it's really good, and I'm sure you'll find it more than a little relatable in a wide variety of respects.
...I shouldn't have made it through the things I lived through. But I did, because you exist. I was given another chance at living, because you gave me the strength to hold on long enough to encounter new and different things. I wouldn't be here at all if not for you. I write every day because I wanna give to you what you unwittingly gave to me.
...Well. I don't have much to say. And also, I gotta get up kinda early for work tomorrow. So I guess I'll end today's letter here in favor of getting ready for sleep.
Stay safe out there, okay? We're counting on you coming back home in one piece. We're counting on you, just in general, because you're lovable and wonderful and we want you around. Don't go someplace no one can reach, okay?
I love you. And I'll write again tomorrow.
Your friend, Lumine

I was finally diagnosed with Hidradenitis suppurativa last year. This was despite the fact that I suspected I had it for several years before based on research I did because I knew what was happening wasn’t normal. I’d been suffering from it to various degrees since I was a teenager.
Hidradenitis suppurativa is characterized by tunneling cysts, which leaves tracks on the skin, that will move to various locations in the body via the tunneling. Of course, the tunneling is painful and leaves voids that can become terribly infected. Often these cysts are in the groin and armpits.
Despite this, when I told my GP my suspicions, she told me it might help to lose weight and then disregarded it. She never referred me to a dermatologist.
HS is considered a hormone-influenced autoimmune condition.
This was after a large abscess had formed on my arm spontaneously and required FIVE ROUNDS of heavy-duty antibiotics to finally go away.
To say this upset me was an understatement.
I’m not the only one in my family with HS. My mom has it, and for a while was regularly having cysts removed by a plastic surgeon, including one that was the size of a baseball, but flattened out across a huge area. She didn’t know it was a specific condition until I told her.
But she did know I had a problem, which typically occurred as painful cysts in my underarms. Constant, to the point where I couldn’t wear deodorant if it had any form of antiperspirant because that would start it and make it worse.
So one year, for Christmas, she asked me if I would like my underarm sweat glands to be basically lasered to death, which her plastic surgeon thought would help solve the problem. The price tag was about $5000 but my mom was willing to spend that to try to help me not be miserable.
And so in the early 2010s, that was my Christmas gift. Took a train to the city, accompanied by a friend, had breakfast at a nice restaurant, as eating before was recommended, and went to the office.
They shoot you up with local anesthetic, and then these suction devices are attached to your entire armpit and the laser treatment begins. I’m not sure how long the procedure was, but it was very painful and I’m glad my friend went with me.
I went home and to sleep with ice packs taped to my underarms, healed up in a few days, and haven’t had nearly the problems I used to. But I went to that extent trying to treat the problem, and the only doctor who could offer me a solution was a plastic surgeon—which means I will never judge anyone going to one ever.
Eventually, last year, I decided to look into sterilization surgery, and so was referred to a gynecologist, who was perhaps the best doctor I’ve had in my life. I was low-key worried some of the pain was from something like endometriosis.
On sight, she told me “I think you have this condition, Hidradenitis suppurativa.” I told her I mentioned I thought I had it to my doctor, and what she’d said about losing weight. The gynecologist snorted derisively and said “Yeah, no. It’s almost entirely hormonal, so we’re going to get you on hormonal birth control to start treating it, and I’m referring you to a dermatologist.”
Dermatologist took one look at me and said “Yeah, that looks like stage 2 HS, for sure.” I still don’t know what stage 2 is or how many stages HS has. Once the worst of the infection cleared up, she put me on antibiotics that she hoped would help clear it up. They worked, but not entirely, simply shrinking them to be less painful, and they stopped tunneling.
We were working on getting me on Humira when I left my job and moved home.
Then my childhood doctor decided he wouldn’t give me a prescription for the antibiotics, saying “I would probably prescribe something different.” And then not doing so, despite acknowledging the diagnosis.
Within a week, I had tunneling abscesses, and it’s been a horrid struggle since. Needless to say, I’m not going back to that doctor and have an initial appointment with a new one next week.
But this struggle is horrific and depressing, and it’s added to my already chronic pain from fibromyalgia (which my mom also has), and I just wish doctors would fucking LISTEN.
Before my mom met her plastic surgeon, she was performing self-surgery at home because her condition was ignored by doctors. She didn’t even have any idea that she had HS until I found it researching and eventually got a diagnosis.
It’s absolute hell to get decent healthcare, even if you have the money to seek it, in the US. It’s especially hard if you are BIPOC, have a uterus, and/or have a higher BMI.
Since my diagnosis, I’ve been open about the condition and have actually helped several people who were able to get dermatology referrals based on finally learning they might have a condition that’s treatable. If I can provide that help through my openness and through writing this post, I will.
I’m 40 years old and have been struggling with this since I was 13 or so, and only received an official diagnosis last year. My mom is 67 and only learned through me last year what she’s been struggling with her whole life—and she rarely gets them anymore because she’s post-menopausal, but at least she has a name for it.

Effective Acne Scar Removal Treatment at Skin and Laser Clinic
Are you tired of dealing with stubborn acne scars that affect your confidence and overall appearance? At Skin and Laser Clinic, we offer advanced and professional acne scar removal treatments designed to rejuvenate your skin and restore its natural beauty.

Understanding Acne Scars
Acne scars result from the inflammation of acne blemishes. When the acne pore swells, a breakdown occurs in the wall of the pore. Some acne blemishes are small, and the scars created are shallow and heal quickly. However, sometimes the contents of blemishes spill into the surrounding tissue, causing deeper scars. Your skin forms new collagen fibers to repair these scars, but they may not look as smooth and flawless as the original skin.
Our Advanced Acne Scar Removal Treatments
At Skin and Laser Clinic, we utilize cutting-edge technology and innovative techniques to effectively reduce and remove acne scars. Our comprehensive range of treatments includes:
1. Laser Therapy: Laser treatments are one of the most effective methods for acne scar removal. The laser targets the scar tissue and stimulates the production of new, healthy skin cells. Our state-of-the-art laser systems, such as fractional CO2 lasers and erbium lasers, offer precision and excellent results with minimal downtime.
2. Microneedling: Microneedling involves using fine needles to create micro-injuries in the skin, stimulating the body’s natural healing process and collagen production. This treatment is highly effective in reducing the appearance of acne scars and improving skin texture.
3. Chemical Peels: Chemical peels involve applying a chemical solution to the skin, which exfoliates the top layer and promotes the growth of new skin. This treatment can help reduce the appearance of shallow acne scars and improve overall skin tone and texture.
4. Dermal Fillers: For deep, pitted scars, dermal fillers can be an excellent solution. Fillers are injected into the scars to raise the depressed areas, making them less noticeable and smoothing out the skin’s surface.
5. PRP Therapy: Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy involves using a concentration of your own platelets to promote healing and rejuvenation. When applied to acne scars, PRP can accelerate the healing process and enhance the results of other treatments like microneedling.

things you've done in your glowup journey?
I invested in 30 sessions of full body laser hair removal!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you are looking for a semi-permanent method to remove body hair, I would strongly recommend investing in laser hair removal. There's nothing like running your fingers over you skin and feeling the smoothness and softness of your skin, it makes me feel so much fresher and cleaner to wake up with hairless skin, and to go through life without the hassle of shaving or waxing or epilating (ouch!). I am super clumsy so I would always get cuts, scars, ingrowns when I used any of the above mentioned methods not to mention that the hair would grow back within days and all of the itching but now I don't have to deal with any of that.
My body hair has always been one of my biggest insecurities, I am Middle Eastern so I grow a lot of hair on my entire body but luckily, I have very light skin and dark hair so I am an ideal candidate for laser hair removal. My sessions are still ongoing and I will probably get 50-ish sessions in total just to get rid of all my hair. I love being completely hairless, it makes me feel so much more beautiful and it also prevents body odor since our body hair tends to carry bacteria. Another thing is I literally had the worst Keratosis Pilaris on my thighs and it's 90% gone thanks to laser hair removal and regular dry brushing.
I used to go once a month but due ot exams and vacation, I took a few months break and I grew absolutely no leg hair back which came as a shock, very little underarm hair and a bit more on my bikini zone as the hair follicles there tend to be thicker but there was such a great difference in thickness of the body hair and way less growth. I have also noticed a great improvement in skin texture and the annoying red bumps I used to have on my thighs are all gone which was a very unexpected but welcome change.
I do ice laser hair removal and it still hurts a lot because I have very low pain tolerance and I am just a very sensitive person. My biggest tip is: get your sessions after your menstruation, the closer your sessions are to your period, the more they will hurt. I am someone who loves semi-permanent changes and all my beauty treatments serve a very clear purpose that make my life a lot easier, it's one of my 'high maintenance to be low maintenance' ways.
I would say that laser hair removal has been in my top 3 beauty investments on my journey to becoming a more beautiful and confident me.

re: kelly’s treatments:
have you ever done rejuvenating treatments or stuff like that? do you recommend?
I had Clear + Brilliant once, which is a non-invasive laser treatment. It helped brighten my skin and get rid of some pigmentation. It’s apparently quite effective for anti-ageing but I’m not noticeably ageing yet so I didn’t see any difference on that front. I would recommend it if you’re looking for something to brighten and maybe kickstart a healthier skin routine. But the results were not so drastic that I felt the need to keep going back.
IPL is apparently better for pigmentation though.
A friend of mine had radio frequency micro needling and she LOVED the results (it stimulates collagen production), it really tightened up her skin and improved her skin texture. It’s something I definitely plan on getting once I start to get more into age-preventative measures, but I’m trying not to get too into that yet.
Generally though, I try to do as little to my skin as possible, I’m more of a hydro facial type of girl than anything else
Hope that helps!
