Peter during his In This Generation: My Life in The Monkees and So Much More tour; GRAMMY Museum, Los Angeles, June 17, 2013. Photos by Brian Cahn/ZUMA Press, Inc./Alamy Stock Photo, and Rebecca Sapp/WireImage via Getty Images.
From reviews of the tour:
“[Peter] picked up a guitar. He played. He was really good. He picked up a banjo. Played. Really well. He sat at the keyboards. Not bad.
He played the blues, imitated Elvis and did enough of the Monkees repertoire to placate those who desperately needed to sing ‘Daydream Believer’ with him. He told compelling stories, too, all of them rolled into the autobiography that he clearly wanted to convey: Yes, Peter Tork can play, and he can own the stage, alone. He talked about growing up in a house filled with classical music; about moving to Greenwich Village in its folk heyday: about heading to LA, where a friend named Stephen Stills helped him land a job on a TV show about a band called the Monkees. He recalled his frustration that the members of the band were originally denied the chance to play on their records. ‘We don’t want what you have to offer,’ a produced told him when he complained. ‘You’re not the Lovin’ Spoonful.’ On Sunday, he was witty, agile, energetic and sufficiently self-deprecating to balance his caustic streak. He won a standing ovation, fueled by more than nostalgia.” - review by Mary Schmich, Chicago Tribune, June 12, 2013
“In real life, Tork is a soft-spoken, sarcastic troubadour-typ; his solo acoustic set was soaked in his deep affection for old folk songs and the blues. If you were looking for a taut run-through of Monkees hits, you would’ve been disappointed. This was a multimedia storytelling event as much as it was a concert. As Tork told us stories of listening to Burl Ives with his parents, struggling as a wet-behind-the-ears Greenwich Village folkie, and following his friend Stephen Stills’ suggestion that he attend a casting call for the show that would become The Monkees, corresponding photographs appeared on the screen above him. It was a gold mine for any serious Monkees fan, if perhaps a little slow for somebody who wanted to show up and sing along. Admittedly, the best moments usually involved Tork getting down to business. A snippet of the lovely folk song ‘The Fox’ made me wish he had done the whole thing. Bluesy renditions of pop hits ‘Last Train to Clarksville’ and ‘She Hangs Out’ exposed their soulful bones. And a banjo-and-vocal cover of Jackie Wilson’s ‘(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher’ was ragged, tender and true. […] [His set] proved that he’s talented, period. Switching between acoustic guitar, banjo and keyboards, the goateed and bespectacled artists (who looks pretty much nothing like the Tork of Monkees days these days) oozed Americana, putting just the right kind of mustard on every chord progression and bluesy lick. His voice was more workmanlike than his playing, but it was invested with an earnestness that felt right. And it didn’t hurt that he was pretty funny. In the middle of ‘Higher and Higher,’ Tork tried to get the crowd to clap along. A bunch of folks started clapping on one and three. ‘You don’t know what clapping is, do you?’ he quipped. There, in that moment, we got a solid idea of who Peter Tork is. He’s got the friendliness and humor of a Monkee, and the world-weariness of a septuagenarian in a small Buffalo club, who just wants a proper backbeat already. You don’t normally get this level of insight from a live show, so for people still in the throes of Monkeemania, this was a very special night indeed.” - review by Joe Sweeney, The Buffalo News, May 5, 2013
Someone on YouTube uploaded clips from one of the performances (in Sellersville, Pennsylvania, on May 24, 2013); here's everything in a playlist..

The Girl in the Window
Russellville is located in the far south-west corner of the state, but the fate of the "Russellville Girl" has been told in every corner of Kentucky. The story goes that a young girl was waiting for her lover to pick her up one night for a dance. It was stormy and dangerous night as lightning illuminated the sky and rain fell in sheets. She was very anxious about her boyfriend's driving in such weather and stood near the front window of the house, anxiously watching the dark road outside and hoping for some sign of his oncoming headlights. Just then a bolt of lightning truck the house and somehow passed through the front window, instantly killing the girl.
These days no one seems able to remember just what the girl's name may have been, but they don't have any trouble remembering what she looked like. By some freak of nature, the lightning created a photographic imprint of the girl on the pane of the glass in the front window.
For many years, on every occasion when it rained, the girl's image would appear on the glass. The story became famous, and people came from miles around to see the image. No matter how hard the owners cleaned the window, they could not erase the imprint. As years passed, the window was boarded over to keep away the curiosity seekers. More recently, it has been painted over.
The house where the girl's image was imprinted on the window is a private home on Clarksville Road. It now serves as the residence for the caretaker of Maple Grove Cemetery. -Troy Taylor

3.4% unemployment is the lowest since 1969!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!** Our legislature has only about 9%approval. We vote them in so why would we keep voting in people we don’t approve of??
*****
Spy balloons? Aliens? If the media and politicians paid as much attention to all the injustices in the world as they did the big balloon, we’d be ok.** What about the train disaster in East Palestine, Ohio?? Vinyl chloride and who knows what else?  I mean 3.2 billion in earnings? I think we should listen to the rail company employees when it comes to safety issues. Trump peeled back so many regulations and Biden hasn’t fixed that situation yet so I guess we can look forward to more crashes. By the end of the month, this train story finally has some traction and is all over the news. The Biden administration sent people on the ground within 2 hours. It is unfortunate that the face of the department of transportation waited a couple of weeks to go. Trump used it as an opportunity to visit the site. Some of the local press called it returning to the scene of the crime.  ** After a private briefing about the things in our air space, Sen. Kennedy said, “Lock your doors.”** A sphere showed up on the shores of Japan.

Canada has super pigs, the result of breeding wild boar and pig. They are headed for America.

So, I never really watch the View anymore but happened by it the other day and they were discussing how the Bidens ordered the same meal in a restaurant. They said that they heard people were bitching about it. They were all putting in their two cents worth. Why would people care and whose business is it what someone orders when they are dining? I do not get this world sometime and I can’t believe they are wasting ABC airtime with this.
*****
The U.S. is quadrupling troops in Taiwan.
*****
I can’t believe I got so excited that Micky Dolenz was on the Tonight Show and he only got a few minutes to talk and a few lines from Last Train to Clarksville. It is like Fallon is putting on a show in his basement where he gets to tell the first story and then go sing with the guest. What?
*****
In Florida, a Spectrum 13 news reporter and photographer were shot as they were at a homicide scene. The reporter, Dylan Lyons died and the shooter also made their way to a nearby home and killed a woman and her 9 year old daughter.
*****
Kyle Bush was busted in Mexico for firearm possession. He got 3.5 years and fined $1,100. He is still racing. Will he ever pay the consequences? It is doubtful because he is winning right now.
*****
George Santos told Piers Morgan that he told all his lies on an earlier campaign too, so he didn’t think he would get caught. Some republicans think that is an acceptable excuse.
*****
The latest Sexual misconduct news: R. Kelly and Harvey Weinstein just got more prison time.** Ashley Morgan Smithline who had accused Marilyn Manson of rape has recanted. Her case had been previously dismissed.

We are evolving nicely. Studies show that penis size is up 24% from 3 decades ago.

A woman named Emily that was part of the Georgia trial looking into election fraud is talking everywhere. Technically she has done nothing wrong. She isn’t revealing info she should not but she seemed way too excited about shaking Rudy’s hand. Yuk!!

*****
We are going to be so sick of seeing soapbox shyster characters ala Trump in the future of film and television.** So, Trump tried to get Disney to calm down Jimmy Kimmel?
*****
Biden got a clean bill of health.
*****
Fox news was caught with their pants down in the Dominion trial. Behind the scenes back and forth between the Fox pundits shows just how they spoon fed their audience. They believed none of the conspiracies they spouted right up to the insurrection. ** A court filing shows that Rupert Murdoch gave Jared Kushner advance copies of Biden’s ads before they were made public.

Save the Earth
Hows it going guys here we are at the end of this blogging journey and in this weeks blog I’m going to talk about one issue that is important to me and that is environmentalism. I became proponent of environmentalism since when I first learned that the past three years were the hottest years recorded on the planet ever. Global warming is a very serious threat and should be treated as a serious issue because it affects us all. People think that it cost an arm and a leg to be environmentally active and conscious but it really isn’t; by doing small thing like recycling or riding a bike to your job can reduce environmentally hazardous habits like pollution for example.  With the increasing temperature means the polar ice caps are shrinking which means the water levels are rising; the oceans are getting warmer as well and that is producing more hurricanes than usual. Climate change also affects our animals by ruining their habitats and affecting their behaviors like chasing there migration patterns. and below is a picture that I took on a field trip to park in Nashville, Tennessee last year with Nossi College of Art. The first image below is a picture of a duck at the lake.
Tumblr media
The picture picture below is a closeup of a yellow flower at the park.

And lastly is another picture of flowers at the park.

I hope you guys enjoyed this blog and learned something interesting and decide to become more environmentally aware. Thank you for taking time out your day to read my blog for the past 7 weeks and below is a link on how to environmentally friendly on a budget, Nossi College of Art and my website!

A pair of young American toads [Anaxyrus americanus] gently gripped for photographs by T. Crimmins. These leaf litter dwellers are often found in forests, and feed on a variety of small invertebrate prey, including ants, slugs, worms, and spiders. The Bolivian Sunburst Blues*      *no title needed here, but a memory somehow recalled reading Nicole Marie de Chantal's many doings to get out the door and to work in one piece. Be Prepared, they say, but how do you Get Prepared?
We covered the Yardbirds, Little Red Rooster Stones, Sam and Dave, Wilson Pickett, and sweet Chitown stuff like the Buckinghams. This was a good while before I had a beautiful 'Nicole Marie'—I was pounding out the true stuff on a tobacco sunburst look-alike Fender. I still love these brown guitars with their smoldering sunburst fire—to me they're the standard for a good-looking bass. Our band was the 'Third Day Chase.' As a young poet, I'd divined that name for us. We played lots of clubs and venues in scattered small towns and Clarksville, the Queen City, too. We were new, and new to things. But already, when I laid down an opening bass riff, the world also opened up, showing itself as a dancing thing, too, as kids got up to dance within it, that world of foolish happiness, immature love and some good harmonica blues to take it down when things got that way.
Back then for one thing, just the number of girls after our hundred or so songs and us was the best reward, although this note is about a couple of unmusical things, too. It includes, first of all, songs we practiced on flat tops around a backyard campfire, us sitting on the very edges of those shell-shaped metal porch chairs or on Ralph's narrow folding chairs, or playing them right there in the kitchen, most often a harp and two guitars. Just easy rehearsing or learning something new by playing along.
These were weekends when we were not playing ourselves and would go over to Erin, a neighboring small town, and down towards Fire Tower road to Ralph and Margaret's place. It was a mobile home on a wooded hillside with some other empty old trailers of theirs up the hill a little, in the back, where quite a lot of necking did occur. At sixteen, it was new to find adults who let you drink cold beer and liked to play a little music with you or talk straight up with you. Margaret tossed her words back over her shoulder at us because she always seemed to be in front of the stove. It took a lot to keep it all going. Ralph and Margaret Shelton were purely honest and open, with two teenage kids of their own always there, partying, too, eating the ribs and baked beans, courtesy of Margaret, who didn't even drink. One other person, a great guy who we considered a full grown adult, which he was at around twenty and working construction at TVA, was Paul, a kid they'd taken in, natural as daylight, to raise when his parents were no longer there. Paul answered to the friendly name of Ratbed because of his curly hair which looked impossible to run a comb through. He's still around, still nice, still has a bass sound to his voice, but I never see him now.
We sat on the couch, talked and listened to music, hugged our girl friends, and probably acted modestly pretentious about being rock stars. But Ralph Shelton was the real star. He was kind, a folksy and a wisdom-speaking elder—all sincere and fine—and was an Army Ranger, those tough soldiers you'd never guess him to be. He killed Che Guevara.
What did I know at sixteen? Girls, a little beer, Walt Whitman and Ferlinghetti, and stage presence, sometimes in a ruffled white shirt. True, only two years later I would know all I needed to know about politics, and be marching against lots of things, my best performances, I guess, and still a habit today. So I learned that much, but that was a little later. Then, though, I maybe had heard that name, Che, maybe. Out at Ralph's there was some mention of Che Guevara on a couple of nights previous to the one I'm talking about, but I was probably looking down my girl friend's blouse.
Ralph Shelton himself loved, respected Bob Dylan, playing his early songs on his flat top there in the trailer's small living room, with Margaret in her position, and Ratbed playing rhythm guitar alongside Ralph. Paul, though, most liked the Righteous Brothers and particularly 'Unchained Melody.' I still believe it may take a Southerner to sing that song, and Rat could belt it out. You went with it, you held hands, you were lifted and never again wanted, for that moment, to be saved from heartache.
Ralph, a Major then though you wouldn't know it, treated all us rural Carnaby Streeters like the adults we were becoming. We were always able to call him by his first name. It was natural. One night Ralph, who is called 'Pappy' in the few books that mention him, brought out some horrifying photographs of the aftermath of the jungle raid on Che—pictures that would have gotten him court martialled had anyone known he had them, but much worse, that showed an executed Che and the carnage visited everywhere on his body.
Ralph said the way they tracked him down was by one of the early satellites that looked for campfires in the jungle. Way back then is when that was, while they were still playing the Ventures' fast and happy 'Telstar' down at the little bowling alley in New Johnsonville. But the photographic evidence that night was violent. Telstar and cherry cokes and penny loafers lost. The Army satellite ominously won. Looking up outside the trailer (it was a split-level trailer if you can believe that), the sky was changed because I remember taking a leak out there after seeing those grim pictures thinking at least the stars and moon would always stay the same.
You know, I also remember Ralph with his guitar singing out 'Don't Think Twice, It's All Right,' standing up in his enthusiasm, and crashing into a Styrofoam cooler as he fell, ice and beer cans going everywhere, but him still drunk and singing. Something about the importance of following through on your actions, admitting your errors, something.
A while later, after Margaret and Ralph broke up for good over Paul, who then married her, Ralph went off to teach young officers at the edge of the state in Memphis. He carried a sharp pencil and told them they should do the same. He had already told us that, out there beside a fire we always built among the trailers, or inside sitting on the plaid sofa with our girls out towards Fire Tower road.

Clarence Cameron White (b Clarksville, TN, Aug 10, 1880; d New York, June 30, 1960) is among the most famous African-American composers and concert violinists. He began his violin studies in his youth at Howard University with Joseph Douglass, grandson of Frederick Douglass. He continued his studies at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, but left to accept a teaching position in Washington DC before his graduation. In 1903, White became faculty at the Washington DC Conservatory, a music school devoted to the education of African-American classical musicians. He would leave this position to continue his studies in Europe under Samuel Coleridge-Taylor and Michael Zacharewitsch, and Raoul Laparra. White also taught at West Virginia State College and was music director of the Hampton Institute in Virginia. He authored two pedagogical works for violin.
Given the Jim Crow laws of the time, White performed most extensively in the northern states in the US. His wife, pianist Emma Azalia (Hackley) White frequently performed as his accompanist. As a composer, White’s style is considered Neo-Romantic, drawing upon themes from African-American spirituals and diaspora music. His operatic compositions were performed both at Carnegie Hall and the Metropolitan Opera House. Among the awards White earned during his career are two Rosenwald Fellowships, the Bispham Medal (1932) for his opera Ouanga, a Harmon Foundation award, the Benjamin Award (1955) for his orchestral Elegy, and two honorary degrees.
The primary Clarence Cameron White archive is held by Howard University, but the UNC Greensboro Special Collection & University Archives has two pieces composed by White, “Fantasy on Negro Tunes for Cello and Piano, op. 67" dedicated "in friendship to Kermit Moore," and the photographed piece, “Poeme for Orchestra.”

The Bell Witch / The Bell Witch Hunting
The Bell Witch is a legend from Southern American, centered on the 19th-century Bell family of northwest Robertson County, Tennessee. John Bell Sr., who made his living as a farmer, resided with his family along the Red River in an area currently near the town of Adams. According to legend, from 1817-1821, his family and the local area came under attack by a mostly invisible entity that was able to speak, affect the physical environment, and shapeshift. Some accounts record the spirit also to have been clairvoyant and capable of crossing long distances with superhuman speed (and/or of being in more than one place at a time).
A prophecy was reported by May 1903 that the witch could return on the centennial of the Bell family arrival in Tennessee. In response to an August 1903 article from Memphis, The Springfield Herald expressed that no one in the local area was concerned with a return of the Bell Witch and made a charge of plagiarism towards the Memphis paper. The Herald also stated the copyright for Ingram's work had passed to his son Tolbert who was working at The Denver Times. By September, the local paper was again incredulous as the spirit was not reported to have returned in August.
Charles Bailey Bell, a grandson of John Bell Jr., and neurologist in Nashville, published a book entitled The Bell Witch: A Mysterious Spirit in 1934. In the work, he recounted stories he stated were told to him by his great aunt Betsy later in her life. This included another account of Andrew Jackson's visit and of a boy trapped in the Bell Witch Cave and pulled out of the cave feet first by the witch. Bell also detailed a series of prophecies he stated were given to his ancestors in 1828 by the spirit, including a declaration the witch was set to return again in 1935, 107 years after her last visit to the Bell family.
In 1937, there were reports of quirky events. Louis Garrison, owner of the farm that included the Bell Witch Cave, heard unexplained noises coming from inside. Bell descendants described the sound of something rubbing against a house, a paper like object that flew out the door and reentered through a side door, and faint music heard from a piano. A group from the local Epworth League were reported to have attended a wiener roast in a rock quarry near the Bell Witch Cave on July 29, 1937. The group were joking about the legend when they saw a figure of a woman sitting on top of the cliff over the cave causing many to flee. According to the newspaper, a minister in the group later claimed to have investigated and discovered it was moonlight on a rock. The second report concluded with a weather report that the moon was barely noticeable that night. Jim Brooks published in 2015 that his mother was in attendance at the roast, and relates that the minister caught up to the youth on the road to town after discovering no explanation for the figure.
In November 1965, an article was published involving an antique oak rocking chair said to have been previously owned by attorney Charlie Willett, a Bell descendant. The rocking chair was acquired in Willett's estate sale by Mrs. J. C. Adams, owner of an antique store on U.S. 41. A customer sat down in the chair, after learning it was not for sale, and while rocking in the chair asked Mrs. Adams if she believed in the supernatural. Two weeks later, the customer's daughter visited the home of Mrs. Adams and said after her mother had left and visited the Bell cemetery a voice told her to "stand up and look around, you will find something of much value." After some car trouble, the woman walked out into a field and found a black iron kettle turned over. She turned the kettle over and found a pearl buckle in the grass. The woman's daughter reported a jeweler estimated the buckle to be 160 to 200 years old.
Attorney Charles Romaine Willett (1886-1963), son of Sarah Elizabeth Bell, began an interest in the newspaper business at the age of 16. After some time playing professional baseball and working at other newspapers, Willett became the first managing editor of the Nashville Tennessean in 1907 while teaching himself law. A mayor of Adams, and member of the State legislature, Charlie Willett was known for his reliability. Every Sunday, Willett would accompany his sweetheart, Miss Jerry Cullom Gardner, for ice cream in Clarksville and dinner at Richardson's Restaurant on the return home. According to community lore, the couple never married so as not to tempt fate as they descended from the Bell and Gardner families respectively. Jim Brooks relates that a family member detailed familial obligations as the likely explanation. Brooks inquired what the couple thought about the rumor in the early 1960s. Jerry Gardner explained if Charlie Willet ever asked her to marry him, she would assent. When Brooks related this to Charlie Willett, he immediately smiled, pulled his thumbs through his suspenders and said, "Oh, she said that, did she?"
Bonnie Haneline, in 1977, recounted a time during her childhood in 1944 when she was exploring the cave. She left English class, playing 'hooky,' and borrowed a lantern from Mrs. Garrison, the cave owner. She reported to have explored the cave with her friends for several years. While she was inside, her lantern blew out despite no breeze inside the cave. She managed to relight the lantern and it blew out again. Terrified, she crawled along the water path of the cave in the dark until she reached the entrance where she saw an opened can of pork and beans and marshmallows. Later that evening, she learned law enforcement discovered two escaped fugitives in the back of the cave. She credited the witch with helping her avoid them.
A visit in 1977 was reported of five soldiers from nearby Fort Campbell to the Bell Witch Cave. One of the soldiers was sitting on a rock and expressed skepticism of the legend when something invisible grabbed him around the chest.
In 1986, staff writer David Jarrard for The Tennessean and photographer Bill Wilson, the latter also a member of the National Speleological Society, were given permission to sleep in the cave over night. While in the first cave room they heard a noise from deeper in the cave Jarrard estimated at 30 yards. Subsequently, an "unwavering groan" repeated again with greater volume and accompanied by several loud thumps. When it began a third time, the men retreated to the gate entrance. They explored the wiring to the lights looking for a reason for the noises. They went back to the first cave room but heard a rumble near the entrance. Walking back to the entrance they discovered the rumble was noise from a jet. As they reached the gate, a loud, high pitched scream emanated from inside the cave. The journalists left and did not spend the night.
In 1987, H. C. Sanders, owner of a nearby gas station, reported 20 years earlier he ran out of gas at night near the Red River across from the Bell Witch Cave. He began to walk towards town when a rabbit came out of the woods and began to follow him. Sanders walked faster, but the rabbit kept pace even as he broke out into a run. After a mile, Sanders sat down on a log to catch his breath. The rabbit hopped up on the other side of the log looked at him and said, "Hell of a race we had there, wasn't it?”
