The Thrall in the Hall: Randall Goosby and Zhu Wang Violin and Piano Duo at Hahn Hall
Violinist Randall Goosby Though this was ostensibly Randall Goosby ’s show, the music making was a wonderfully integrated duo with pianist Zhu Wang, These two fine young musicians shared the virtuosic duties that the music in this concert demands. Both are clearly hard working and dedicated artists. Both have technical and interpretive prowess. And they clearly embody a mutual respect for each…

Seems like everyday we’re losing another legend. 💔 RIP to the incomparable icon Roy Ayers. Roy Ayer’s was a true master & god of his craft, a man that wore many hats. He was a funk/soul/jazz composer, vibraphone player, music producer, pioneer, visionary, innovator & icon. Not only did he pioneer jazz-funk, but he has been dubbed 'The Godfather of Neo Soul' — in other words, where would your favorite artist be without Roy Ayers legacy. He’s best known for the tune that I know you all are familiar with 'Everybody Loves the Sunshine' , ‘Searchin' & 'Running Away’. At one time, he was even said to have had more sampled hits by rappers than any other artist. Rest in Peace & Power Roy. Thanks to you, music has been forever changed & your legacy will never die.

Edward Kennedy “Duke” Ellington (1899-?) was an American jazz composer, pianist, and bandleader who left a lasting impact on music and American culture. His recordings remain popular examples of big-band jazz. Ellington was an instrumental composer, and many of his songs were originally written as instrumentals. He was known for pushing the boundaries of jazz and classical music. His piece “Creole Rhapsody” was inspired by the struggles of African-Americans.

Not Just Another Black Composer Compilation: Kellen Gray Revives Neglected American Masterpieces
LINN CKD 731 For the humble listener, a musician’s technical and interpretive performance skills are one of the most compelling reasons to buy a concert ticket or a recording of said musician. But your humble reviewer has another, perhaps equally important reason for investing time and money in the work of a musician. And that skill is what I like to call “musical radar”. It is the (sometimes…

obi-wan saying he’s a tea drinker and everyone assumes he means perfectly made herbal teas or something similarly sophisticated, but in reality he drinks the space equivalent of like yorkshire tea. black tea, so strong it’s borderline undrinkable. he does not correct this assumption because he has an image to maintain.
