Andy leaving her sisters/cousins to babysit her daughter would be insane
Like baby tonks learnt her chaos from somewhere and it wasn't from Ted, it was very much a 'mums side of the family' thing
-
Bella, standing in the corner: 🧍what does it want from me
Sirius, holding her: I don't know?!?! Why is she staring like that oh my god, please blink Dora
Narcissa: stop holding her like that you useless imbecile, you'll mess up her spine...no that's WORSE
Bella: make it stop staring at me
Reggie, coming to take her away from Sirius: I don't even like this baby but I chose to save you all from your incompetence so you are welcome
Baby tonks: :D
Narcissa, who had just tried to hold her and stop her from crying, claiming 'babies love me': what on earth did you do?
Reggie: no clue.

we can all agree narcissa is the best mother ever right?
she would be like effie, adopting people left, right, and center (lucius would hate it)
here is everyone she would adopt
Pansy
harry
Neville (she needed to save her ex'w child)
Hermionie
delphine
sirius (it didn't work)
remus
REGULUS!!!!!!
pandora
barty
evan
dorcas
Xenophilius
Rita
felix (evs brother)
Emma
that's all that I can think of alright but there is so much SO MUCH
I'm in the middle of writing a chapter of a fic (dose it ever drive you crazy? by bearswithaxes (link in another post), and she has the range of a mother who lost a child. She was fighting for her child (Reggie) and she won (I think idk)
Narsisa is the mother hen of Slytherin, and she rules the fucking planet.

okay, I know that Regulus is often portrayed as not knowing how to swim (and I’m totally on board), but I have to consider the opposite.
I mean, c’mon, Regulus Black, heir of his House, has to be athletic. Imagine: seeker of his quidditch team; loves sneaking out at night to swim in the lake (with the occasional skinny dipping with Rosekiller of course), maybe stumbles upon James one of those nights, when the Gryffindor was trying to prank someone; and my boy is a runner (just imagine fast little reggie trying to escape from Barty and Evan, who want to dye his hair blond -adorable- (obviously they end up dying his hair (obviously James nearly has a heart attack when he sees him BLOND (maybe a nosebleed too, we never know)))
okay I maybe got a little sidetracked. But a Reggie who runs and swims? I would DIE for him.

Sometimes I wish I was a filmmaker, so I could have the Black sisters, on a road trip, listening to Beautiful, Dirty, Rich by Lady Gaga, without it just being italicised lyrics on a page...

I have a silly little headcanon that draco looks exactly like regulus just with blond hair. And every time Narcissa looks at Draco she sees her little cousin she couldn’t protect from the war. So when Draco gets the mark and starts working for Voldemort she feels like she is being forced to relive the time before regulus died where she was loosing him and there was nothing she could do. And one night her and Draco get into an argument about how he is too involved and she ends up yelling “I won’t be able to protect you, Regulus!” And Draco leaves to go to Hogwarts and start his mission the next morning. that’s my silly little head cannon

so james’ tattoos are obvs the antlers along his v-line, matching with sirius’ flower v-line tats, his gryffindor quidditch jersey number on his bicep, and then constellations across his chest for sirius and reg. regulus has stars tattooed around his moles, on his collarbone, arms, and back, all in slightly different styles, since some have been done by different artists and some have been done by his friends. he also has a sun over his heart with long rays reaching out across his body.

@vazaha-tya I am obsessed with your fic - so I spend a day and some more drawing my favorite scene from the last chapter. It's hope blooms in the darkest hours on ao3 if anyone wants to check it out
Were you aware that everyone was in pajamas in the middle of the night? Or that hissing makes a person look like they are smiling? I didn't but I found those two facts delightful!

( @ofregulusblack — )
she descends the stairs in the entrance hall of the school with steady footsteps, hand on the bannister — it was old, dark wood, original to the house. this was the manor in which their grandparents had lived, once upon a time, before they died. she had kept many of the original features when she established a school there — except for the artifacts that were likely to curse someone, or make the students of less-than-pure blood uncomfortable. her brow raises when she reaches the hall and sees who awaits her there.
"cousin," she greets, slightly stilted. "when they told me that i had a visitor, i didn't expect it to be you." that was the truth. she hasn't seen regulus for some time now. they had started walking down different paths — he was a fanatic of the dark lord, she knew that much. but she was also his cousin, and... he had always been her favourite, if she was being honest with herself. she adored little regulus from the very moment that he was born. black's put each other first, and narcissa has always loved her family above all else, no matter what side of the war they are on. "i've heard that the english aurors are working themselves into quite a tizzy, looking for you. may i ask what brings you to my doors?"

Crime
"Crime" - Jegulus Microfic - @into-the-jeggyverse - 572 words
--------------------------------------------------------------
Regulus walking into his generally very peaceful living room, took three steps, and froze in place. "James?"
James startled at the sound of his voice, his eyes flying away from the letter he was holding.
The letter with the sickeningly familiar sigil of the 'Ancient and Most Noble House of Black'.
"Regulus, hey." James forced a smile. "Good morning."
"Is it?" Regulus asked, pointedly glancing at the letter James was still holding.
James shifted his weight. "It just came."
"I thought it couldn't," Regulus replied, just now spotting the owl that shouldn't be on the windowsill. "I thought - the wards stop those from coming. Sirius promised they did -"
"The wards stop them from sending anything to you," James interrupted Regulus before it could overwhelm him. "This - this one isn't for you."
Regulus blinked. "What?"
"Yeah," James bit his lip. "This one was addressed to me, actually."
No, no, no - they couldn't send things to James. They couldn't - "What did they say?" Regulus managed.
"Oh, not much," James replied. He shrugged. "Just the usual - I'm not worthy, I come from a line of blood traitors, by loving you I have committed the most heinous crime against all of wizardkind. You know - I've ended the world, and I'll surely suffer for it."
Regulus would have laughed if James didn't look a bit distressed. "They admitted that you love me?"
That would be a surprise, actually. Regulus didn't think his parents actually believed in love.
James hesitated. "I might have paraphrased that bit."
"That makes more sense." Regulus walked up, moving behind James and wrapping his boyfriend in a hug as he read over his shoulder. "Wow. They really hate you."
James laughed. "That was pretty clear, yeah."
Regulus hummed. "How are you doing?"
"I'm fine," James replied quickly.
A little too quickly.
Regulus scanned the letter again, reading aloud. "Though every child has a rebellious phase, I had genuinely hoped Regulus would not lower his standards to such an extent. And while I have found peace in knowing that it won't be long now before he tires of such blatant immaturity and incompetence, I could not in good moral standing allow you to continue to defile the Heir of the House of Black without being given the opportunity to understand why your pairing is, ultimately, distasteful to the point of possible disownment and a scourge on proper society." Regulus paused. "Am I the heir now? That's fun, we'll see if it lasts. I thought they might have finally given it to Cissa, she deserves it." He kissed the base of James's neck. "She's just as wrong as she's always been. Yes?"
"Mhm," James agreed.
Regulus waited, giving James a minute to sort through everything. "Questions?"
James set the letter down on the couch, turning to hug Regulus properly. "Dumb ones."
"Ask anyway," Regulus reminded him. "If you need to, it's fine."
James rocked them a little bit, and Regulus melted into the warmth and citrus scent of James's body wash.
"Can we stay home today?" James asked.
Regulus nodded. "Of course, mon soleil." He leaned back, studying James's expression. "I love you."
James gave him the first genuine smile of the day. "I love you, too."
Regulus kissed his cheek. "I know." He stepped back, keeping James's hand and flicking the fingers of his free hand at the parchment.
They watched it burn - along with the owl, who screeched in disappointment before flying away.

In it runs in the blood, you never wrote about Regulus speciality. He is included, yes. But there is nothing special about him. No cunning, no duelling, no responsibility. I want more of him. Please. I love your story so much. You have a incredible mind to have created this beauty.
Sometimes, there's just nothing extraordinary about someone, you know? They don't all have to be Super Humans.
Though Regulus is obviously extremely handsome, he is more intelligent than your average wizard, what with his NEWTS score and his higher education at the Institute, he has a good mind for business, and he advised Sirius how to handle finances since he was like 17 hahah. He has a political mind, and does his thing at the Ministry and has invested and doubled his inheritance(s). He also has that Black connection to the stars. That's quite a lot already. He's in a better position than most others, gifted by nature and by his privilege as a Black. As for within the Black family, he suffers from being compared to Sirius. The way Andromeda suffered from being compared to Bellatrix.
Andromeda and Regulus would stand out in most crowds; just not in a crowed that includes Sirius and Bellatrix, who are both ridiculously over the top. The way Cygnus and Alphard, both quite accomplished men, faded to history when compared to Orion. The way everyone in Old Sirius' generation faded away because they had that Special Cookie to be compared to.
Both Sirius and Orion were such good at managing their households that Cygnus and Regulus and Alphard could 'relax', so to speak.
Regulus was born to be a 'spare', and he quite enjoys his role. He has a long lists of accomplishments, but yes, they'll always fall behind Sirius, because how do you beat that, really? He is dutiful, and perfectly ready to step in, in case Sirius dies/runs away. As it is, Sirius is alive and well and competent, so Regulus is just enjoying his extra privileged life.
"No cunning, no duelling, no responsibility." He is cunning, since he is a proud Slytherin. He can duel, but why would he? Walburga can duel, Cissa can duel, Astrid can duel, Arcturus could duel, Lucius can duel, they were all educated but there's no reason for them to duel. Even Sirius and Bella only got in a duel once in 11 years, and that was when they went to France. They are a part of the ruling class, not like people would attack them in the streets for them to have a need to resort to fights. And he does have responsibilities, he manages his fortune, he takes care of his daughter, and he is there to support Sirius, and to do whatever Sirius asks of him. But he's, again, a very privileged, rich dude, one that is not in charge of the entire Black family, just his wife and daughter- what extra responsibility could he have?
I will write a fic where he is one of the main characters, one day, but I never plan to make him Extra Special. He is Sirius' double, his shadow. 'less than Sirius' as Harry himself notes just by looking at a picture. And that's the interesting part of his character, for me. That he lived in the shadow of his older, charismatic, extremely handsome and rebellious brother. Even Slughorn, in book 6, when asked about Regulus, the only thing he says 'he was my student but I wish Sirius would have been in my House, too'. He is remembered, even by the readers of the book, as Sirius' brother, first and foremost. I find it fascinating to explore that dynamic, truly, and what it would do to someone, to always be compared and contrasted with his older sibling.
