Baldur's Gate 3 Companion Head Canon Disney Animation Edition
I think most people of my generation (I'm fairly old I suppose) and culture have a favourite disney animation film. Herego, of course I tried to guess which one it would be for our favourite weirdos.
My favourite is in there. Is yours too?
Lae’zel | Lilo & Stitch (2002)
Much like her, Stitch landed on a planet whose inhabitants won't let her murder and destroy stuff as she wishes. But she got attached and now you cannot get rid of her. Ohana means family and family means she’ll get you to that goddamn crèche.
Shadowheart | The Fox and the Hound (1981)
A story about adoption and friendship; what's not to like. Especially the friends to ennemies back to friends bit; weirdly relatable for her. Some scenes make her cry so much she needs to pause and cast restoration on herself. At least, there is a happy end.
Gale | Tangled (2010)
Yearning for something more while cloistered in a tower and being saved by a charming doofus. That's Gale right there: surrounded by sassy pets and singing by the window while brushing his luscious hair.
Astarion | Cinderella (1950)
He hates that he loves it. It’s practically his life, what with the terrible siblings and sadistic mother. Except he wouldn't need rats and mice to make a stunning dress… And he'd probably eat them… But safe from that, essentially the same.
Karlarch | Big Hero 6 (2014)
A tale of friendship, grieving and forgiveness. Being part of a little group of wannabe heroes for whom one would give everything; yeah that's what she's talking about. She might not be white and round but Baymax is her and she is it.
Wyll | The Little Mermaid (1989)
Save someone despite ones own safety? Check. Signing a very unbalanced contract that guarantees one would be screwed over? Check. Daddy issue. Check. Songs. Check, check, check! It's like he wrote the damn thing.
Halsin | Bambi (1942)
He's sad that there are no bears in this one, but other than that it's an accurate depiction of what he's seen in the forest while in wild shape (yes, even the ice skating bit! Rabbits do that).
Minthara | The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996)
It's gritty, dark and twisted. She loves the music and takes great pleasure watching Frollo tumble to his death in a lava pool. Good smiting is good smiting
Jaheira | 101 Dalmatians (1961)
In a sense, isn't she responsible for a bunch of puppies and trying to save them from being skinned alive? Yes. Yes, she is.
Minsc | Ratatouille (2007)
He almost sued when he watched it the first time because he felt plagiarized: That's how he cooks with boo (except boo uses the hair on his back).
Gortash | The Great Mouse Detective (1986)
There is engineering, scheming, and disguise. Although to him it's a drama because the villain, the suave and manipulative Rattigan, who's the hero in his eyes, dies tragically and prematurely without carrying out his masterplan.
Orin | Aladdin (1992)
I have no explanation but I just know it's Aladdin.
What do you think? Any other character and their favourite Disney you can think about ?

So, I love Disney, and have this big family tree of hundreds of Disney (mostly... maybe) characters that I have been working on for years. I feel like I have finally sunk enough of my life into it that I can finally share it with a wider audience. This poll will decide the first character I share! And I'm sorry if your princess didn't show up! I only got 12 spots so I had to cut some.

Disney 100 ✨🏰🤍
Wishing you all a happy new year and to Disney, a belated 100th anniversary! 🎉
To celebrate Disney’s century milestone, I created an illustration based on 100 of Disney’s most known and loved characters from their respective movies/ series. I’ve included all the ones I’ve known and feel are generally popular but I’m sorry if your personal favourites aren’t here.
This has been in the works for almost four months now but due to many delays I couldn’t finish it on time. So here it finally is!
Out of all these range characters, the hardest to draw was the Cars. I’m not used to drawing cars so I’m not generally good at them (yet). Some of these may look simple and easy to draw but trust me, they’re not 😂.
With drawing the characters and the background, I like to be accurate with the respective style it’s drawn/ animated in and the colours too. But also I wanted to also simplify the 3D ones and add a little depth using shadow to the 2D ones. For example some of these films would have a desaturated grainy effect to it and I wanted to keep that. But finally after months of working on it, it’s completed and I’m happy with it! ✨.
Please, please do check it out on Instagram too:
instagram
If this link doesn't work, my username is @/artofzafrasarfraz - it's where I put all my drawings up on. Please do share on stories and comment. Much appreciated 🥹🫶🏼🤍

I see you talking about ouat and it unlocked thoughts that have been neatly filed away for years so here I am, yelling them at you.
I assume at this point spoilers arent a problem anymore for you but you said you originally didn't watch past the frozen but a warning just in case.
I kept watching for quite a long time, but I quit after the whole thing with ruby and Dorothy because what? it just felt so incredibly forced and badly written? and I'd gotten so annoyed because before we'd already had the whole thing with aurora and mulan, which I was rooting for but okay, that didn't work out, too bad for mulan. then we get a perfect set up for ruby and mulan. and it's just. never mentioned again???? ruby comes back eventually but wtf happened to mulan? it annoyed me so fucking much let me tell you.
also I remember trying to write out family/relationship trees and stuff for ouat to see how weirdly convoluted everything got. was very impressed that it seemed they managed to avoid accidentally having incest or something in the show with everything that was going on there.
I have so many more things but this has already gotten way longer than intended. do you have a favourite part of the show? I'm assuming your favourite characters is either regina or emma?
Oh man all of that brings back memories. I didn't stick around long enough for Ruby and Dorothy, but I got the sense that they were doing it to try and counteract the "avoiding Swan Queen because homophobia" allegations.
(I actually don't think they WERE avoiding Swan Queen because of homophobia, necessarily. I think it was never their intent to begin with; they just happened to attract a sapphic audience who were deeply on the Enemies to Lovers train. I do think they may have indulged in a bit of queerbaiting, though, because of some Emma/Regina moments that happened after the writers definitely knew the ship existed. I think it was never going to be canon, but they handled it poorly once they realized that people saw it as an option.)
I stopped watching around Frozen for a couple of reasons:
On a personal level, I just got sick of seeing the characters I shipped with other people. That's not an objective problem; it's my opinion and not everyone will agree. But to me, Hook was a whiny insecure manchild and Robin had the personality of Clippy the MS Word paperclip, and damnit, I wanted Emma and Regina to kiss each other instead of them!
On a This Is Bad Storytelling level, I HATED how Frozen was integrated. Earlier stories had been a nice blend of traditional fairytales with Disney adaptation elements- Beauty and the Beast where Gaston and Chip are both kind of there but in subtler ways, for example, or Cinderella where her dress resembles the 1950s animated version but everything else is different. Frozen, though, was just...Frozen. The entire plot of the movie Frozen had happened before the characters entered the OUAT storyline, their costumes were identical to those in the movie, and while I've heard that they added some different backstory- it just wasn't the "Hans Christian Andersen story with subtle Disney touches" that I would have expected from earlier seasons.
Personally, I don't think the initial curse should have been broken in a season. I feel like that locked them into a pattern of having to continually invent a new Darkest Evilest Most Powerful Magic EVER!!!!! to top the previous season, and that took them to some really weird places (I heard they went to literal hell at one point?). The show had a cool premise and some interesting ideas- I loved how they managed to give individual kingdoms distinct cultures and even fashions. You can tell the "look" of Snow White's kingdom from Cinderella's and Cinderella's from Ariel's, etc.
Everyone who would watch an entire season of Abigail's Ancient Greek Steampunk-ish kingdom, raise your hands. Seriously, so cool.
But something went wrong, IMO around season 4. I'm not sure if the show had just outlived its original concept or had outside pressures pulling it in different directions or what. All I know is, as far as I'm concerned, the show ends when Emma and Henry leave Storybrooke in season 3A. Pity It Was Cancelled So Soon, etc.
(although OOC Matronly SnowTM would have been perfect for live slug reaction memes, so there's that)

Disney locations from the "Worlds of Adventure" world for Minecraft Bedrock, six worlds to explore. You get "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs", "The Little Mermaid", "The Lion King", "Beauty and the Beast", "Aladdin" and "Alice in Wonderland", only five of which I've seen.
When I've told people about this world, I've heard disappointment that "Mulan" wasn't included, but my disappointment is different. My favourite Disney film period is the 2015 remake of "Cinderella", I'm a Kenneth Branagh fan alright? I would have loved to have explored the world of the 1950 film since this is based on the animated canon, but sadly, that isn't available.
Maybe some day we will get "Worlds of Adventure II", featuring six more worlds for us to explore and maybe two of those worlds will be the world of "Mulan" and "Cinderella."
Despite my disappointment, it is still a fun, peaceful world, but different from what I originally expected. I was expecting things like a boss battle with Ursula in the Little Mermaid world, like you'd be going through the plots of the movies.
Also, I've searched, but there is no Jafar at all in the Aladdin world. Excluding the skins, he is the only Disney villain not present in their respective world, so there is something disappointing.

Omg I don’t like the live adaptions for Disney movies across the board so I just didn’t want to watch the little mermaid and I was so worried people would think it was because of racism! I’m sure she was great in the role and I absolutely did not care that they cast a black woman in the role but I wasn’t going to watch the movie for a million other reasons! None of them having to do with Halle! (Sorry Halle!)
I... I can freaking write an essay on my opinions on live-action Disney remakes. The only one I see of any actual value, which ended up becoming one of my all-time favourite movies, is 2015 Cinderella. It wasn't a one-to-one remake of the original, the costume and cinematography actually looked like a fairy tale book. It also improved upon the flaws of the original, namely giving the Prince a clear personality and backstory, giving Ella and Kit a chance to connect before the ball, cutting down the animal bits, giving Lady Tremaine an understandable yet logical reason for her behaviour, and give Ella a stronger, clearer character as well. It might as well be a new Cinderella movie, separate from the 1950 animated one.
The rest have a lot of flaws and do not add much to the original story while actively diminishing certain messages in the original.
(Spoilers for live-action remakes of Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King and The Little Mermaid, also I went on a rant again lmao)
In Beauty and the Beast 2017, Gaston is painted more sympathetically as he actually helped Maurice, and Belle comes off as arrogant and impolite. Instead of the library being a gift from the Beast to Belle which was a monumental change in their relationship, the library was just Beast judging Belle's taste in books and showing off how well-read he is. It isn't endearing.
In Lion King 2019 (holy shit I'm mad at this one, I mentioned this before but I was such a Lion King fangirl when I was younger) they removed Be Prepared, one of the best Disney Villain songs ever, and took away the menacing factor of Scar. Scar bitch slaps Mufasa and “Long Live the King” was more or less shouted, which just takes away the horror of the sudden, quiet betrayal of the original whispered "Long Live the King" and killing Mufasa by letting go and having him fall to his death. Daylight was present throughout the entire "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" scene. Mufasa didn't appear as this almost religious, God-like figure in the clouds, it was just the clouds because of realism, and that makes the scene so much weaker because there's not a figure to visualize. The CGI was so focused on getting the anatomy right that they completely forgot how animals emote (animals can be extremely expressive) so all of them appear expressionless
In The Little Mermaid 2023, the musical numbers were arranged and filmed/edited in a way that takes away the charm of the original. For example, in "Under the Sea", during the bridge where Sebastian ticks off a list of different sea creatures performing, instead of showing said sea creatures during each line like the lyrics intend, it just shows random stuff randomly. They added an instrumental break that slowed down the song's momentum and didn't rebuild it. And why is Ariel singing Under the Sea when she's trying to leave the sea??? Also, I usually love Lin Manuel Miranda's songs, big fan of In the Heights, Hamilton, and the music of both Moana and Encanto, but the new songs he wrote for the movie didn't add anything, and actually dragged the movie in places that should have been quicker, like Scuttle butt. The reason Triton came to terms with Ariel's longing for the land and gave her legs in the end is because he saw Eric kill Ursala for Ariel, which disproved his original opinions of humans being selfish, dangerous creatures. In the remake, 1, Triton straight up died when Ursala took his trident, so he didn't see the final battle at all 2, Ariel, a mermaid who has never been on a ship's deck before, heck from the movie I don't she even saw a functioning steering wheel, somehow managed to accurately steer a ship, in the middle of a storm and a giant whirlpool, while having no legs, that's not reasonable 3, even if Triton was there to watch, Eric didn't do shit in the final battle and was basically useless, so why would Triton change his mind? The whole point of Triton's trajectory in the original was him getting over his prejudice towards humans and learning to understand Ariel's perspective. That entire arc was rushed and more or less gone in the remake. And see how none of the issues I mentioned above have to do with casting Halle? It's entirely about the storytelling and the musical arrangements
Ok I did not mean to make this so long, I got carried away lol can you tell I'm passionate about the subject
Someday I think I'll write proper Disney essays
Tagging two of my Disney friends/mutual cuz I kinda wanna hear your opinions: @pippin-katz @lfg1986-2

adam for the character asks >:) (version up to u)
also sapphire and steel lol i gotta kno
thank youuuuu going with 1991 bc he's my babygirl
sexuality headcanon: the boy is bi, you can't tell me otherwise
gender headcanon: i think if he was in the 21st century he would go on a very interesting journey of self-discovery resulting in using he/they pronouns. but as for canon, just another cis guy.
a ship i have with said character: i mean. belle.
a BROTP i have with said character: the staff! lumiere and cogsworth are so good with him
a NOTP i have with said character: believe it or not adam/gaston fic was very popular at one point.
a random headcanon: i have a whole elaborate series on ao3 exploring the potential post-curse lives of belle and adam, and my favourite personal headcanon was that his older brother was prince charming from the 1950s cinderella
General Opinion over said character: he's just like me fr
sapphire and steel my beloveds:
sexuality headcanon: not to give the neil gaiman copout answer, but i genuinely can't see them conforming to human standards of sexuality. i think at the moment they're clearly only interested in each other, although whether or not i think of them as strictly monogamous (either currently or pre-series) would require me rewatching/finishing the series.
gender headcanon: again, not to give the neil gaiman copout answer, but beyond human standards of gender. there was a very good tumblr post i saw somewhere (and can't find the link to!!!) that said steel's gender was 'to ask questions' and sapphire's was 'to answer them' and that was just so right that it's my own headcanon too.
a ship i have with said character: each other!!
a BROTP i have with said character: LEAD MY BELOVED!!! also silver he's such a little shit
a NOTP i have with said character: at the moment, silver i guess? although i haven't seen the whole thing so i'm open to changing my mind (although i know your opinion fgkdjhg)
a random headcanon: they have one of those "do not separate us" signs that they wear in the voidspace between episodes. idk i still have three assignments to watch there's room for more headcanon to develop.
General Opinion over said character: I LOVE THEM AND I NEED TO FIND MY DVD PLAYER SO I CAN WATCH THE REST OF THE SERIES

Cinderella II: Dreams Come True (2002)
Believe it or not, Cinderella II: Dreams Comes True ranks among the better straight-to-video Disney sequels. It does not belong in the same category as the original. Not even close. The animation is good - for a movie never meant to go to theaters. The voice actors sound enough like the cast of the 1950 movie to fool young viewers. No adult has any business sitting down and seriously watching this but if your kids LOVE Cinderella and they want a little bit more, for the low-low price of $0 - which is essentially what you pay for a movie on Disney+… - yeah, I’d recommend it.
Following her wedding to Prince Charming (voiced by Christopher Daniel Barnes), Cinderella (voiced by Jennifer Hale) has moved inside the palace. There, her mice friends decide to put together a storybook of their favourite post-scullery maid adventures.
Though the film doesn’t appear to be an attempt to recoup losses following a cancelled television series, it's essentially split into three episodes with a wraparound story. The first chronicles Cinderella’s first official job as a princess: planning the annual banquet. Anyone who’s seen their fair share of children’s television will know the entire plot as soon as the story begins but it makes good use of the character. Cinderella isn’t like Ariel or even Snow White. She grew up knowing NOTHING of palace life. If anything, fancy gowns make her uncomfortable. She’s much more at ease in simple clothes cooking, cleaning and relating to common-folk rather than snooty royals. The fact that the film knows this and maintains it is refreshing.
The second segment is by far the weakest. In it, Jaq (voiced by Rob Paulsen) realizes he’s now of little use to Cinderella and gets her Fairy Godmother (voiced by Russi Taylor) to turn him into a human. Once again, you can foresee every development far ahead. What somewhat redeems this story is the amusing reversal. Before, the mice kinda-sorta took care of Cinderella. Now, they’re like little kids who want to impress mom and often get in the way. Though the status quo is inevitably re-established and this might make you think that the story has a message that counters the “Cinderella” story as a whole, it isn’t meant to. The moral is instead that even if you’re small, there are certain things you can contribute, certain things only you can do. Children will appreciate this lesson.
The final tale is easily the best. Actually, it’s the only reason to recommend the film. In it, Cinderella’s stepsister Anastasia (Tress MacNeille) falls for the town baker. Despite her mother’s objection, she allows Cinderella to help her pursue her heart’s desire.
What makes this story good is how much you can expand from it, even with how little we’re shown. If this were a traditional Grimm’s Fairy Tale, Cinderella would resent her stepsisters and stepmother. She would never dream of helping them out. This is a different Cinderella. She’s over what happened in the past - obviously, she came out on top in the end - and decides to do what she always does: respond to others with kindness. In her interactions with Anastasia, we get a lot to unpack. The sister complains that Cinderella always had it easy because she’s beautiful. Could it be that all of the mistreatment Cinderella faced before was caused by jealousy and insecurity? Is this the beginning of a redemption arc for a villain? In the scenes where Lady Tremaine (voiced by Susanne Blakeslee) scolds her daughter for pining after a commoner, we get hints of what life at the manor is now like. With her favourite target gone, Lady Tremaine takes her anger on her daughters and they’re too spoiled to ever make it into the real world. The upbringing she’s given them has had the opposite effect of what she wanted. Again, a lot of this is the viewer extrapolating what’s on-screen, but the beginning of those trails are there.
If someone took Cinderella II: Dreams Come True and really worked hard at it, they could make a great film. This is a true sequel, not simply a rehash or an uninspired rip-off of a story we’ve seen a million times. While there are dumb moments only the kids will like, this movie is for them. Actually, the audience isn't even that broad. It’s made for kids who specifically love Cinderella. For that demographic, it’s got enough sweet and funny moments to make it worth checking out once the grown-ups have finally gotten sick of seeing the same movie 30 times. (May 7, 2021)

I was tagged by @fancy-a-dance-brigadier to list 5 comfort characters then tag 5 other people. Thanks for tagging me ☺️!
I also don’t have comfort characters per se, but I definitely have favourites I return to time and time again.
1. Benjamin Sisko and his entire family, onscreen and off, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (unconditional familial love is a soft spot of mine, and the way Avery Brooks embodies that in his performance is exquisite).
2. Kira Nerys, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (another full-spectrum, tender performance in my most favourite Star Trek iteration! She also reminds me of my mum, and a friend got me a Cameo of Nana Visitor that is one of my most favourite gifts❤️)
3. Cinderella, circa 1950 (I am not immune to having a favourite childhood House of Mouse movie that I return to in times of trouble)
4. Kiki, Kiki’s Delivery Service (A film I return to time and time again and always find inspiration in a young witch’s journey)
5. Zenyatta & Mondatta, Overwatch (I’m consistently drawn to unconventional but kindly monks/priest/etc characters, not entirely sure why, but these two particularly drew me in and I loved writing fic about them!)
I tag @stopthatbluecat and anyone else who wants to join in!
