Here are some companies that strongly support Israel (but are not Boycott targets). There is no ethical consumption under capitalism and boycotting is a political strategy - not a moral one. If you did try to boycott every supporter of Israel you would struggle to survive because every major company supports Israel (as a result of attempting to keep the US economy afloat), that being said, the ones that are being boycotted by masses and not already on the organic boycott list are coloured red.

Winter coquette
Coquette in winter
Hey! I made an autumn post that did well. So here’s my winter one!
The coquette aesthetic is most often associated with warmer weather, which means that celebrating colder weather, especially for those new to the aesthetic, can be difficult. But, fear not. Here are some ways to keep up with the aesthetic!
Clothing:
(Psa: Real fur is cruel and faux alternatives can be just as warm. This blog does NOT support the fur trade in any way shape or form.)
Mittens-especially fluffy ones or ones with kitten paw prints
Gloves.
Scarves
Hats.
Fuzzy/fluffy jackets.
Fuzzy/fluffy clothes in general
Hoodies (especially if they smell like a person of interest’s cologne/perfume/fragrance.)
Hoodies with animal ears on the hood.
Boots.
Knee high socks.
Thigh high socks.
Tights.
Sparkly New Years Dresses.
Faux leather pants.
Petticoats.
Santa dresses.
Sweaters.
Robes.
Pajamas.
Slippers.
Ribbons-especially those that look like they belong on a present.
Bobby socks
Santa hats
Reindeer antlers
Faux fur trim coats and jackets
Tiaras
Cosmetics:
See my post about skincare
Blush
Highlighter. Especially gold, silver, or rose gold.
Reindeer fawn makeup.
Red lipstick.
Red eyeshadow
Green eyeshadow
White eyeliner
Blue eyeliner
Blue mascara
Gold eyeliner
Gold glitter
Blue glitter
Silver glitter
Bath bombs
Shower steamers
Bubble bars
Any shampoo to help with flakes.
Hair:
In a Santa hat
In a reindeer antlers headband
Milkmaid braids
Down
With snowflakes inside it
Royal curls
A messy bun
A neat bun
Cute little holiday or winter hair clips
In a tiara
Ribbons with bows
With golden hair acessories
Braids
Pigtail braids
Activities: (Keep in mind, some of them have different religious aspects. Learn to appreciate and not appropriate. Obviously there are some activities that apply to different people as there are different foods/clothes/etc.)
Ice skating.
Knitting. Especially if you knit extra garments to donate!
Making snow angels.
Snow ball fights.
Twirl around in the snow (especially if listening to the “Ice Dance” song from Edward Scissorhands during the first snowfall of the year. I listen to it every time I see my first bit of snow falling in Winter).
Playing in the snow.
Donate gifts to charity.
Donate food to charity.
Kiss under the mistletoe
Light scented candles around the house along with the Hanukkah/Kwanza ones.
Decorate the Christmas tree.
Bake Christmas cookies
Play with a Dreidel
Cuddle with someone (you know, for warmth)
Sit around the fire.
Dress dolls up in Christmas Outfits.
Visit the American Girl store.
Buy lingerie and a fuzzy robe to wear over it while you lounge inside.
Learn about other cultures.
Remember that people of other religion and cultures often invite friends to celebrate other Hollidays with them. It’s a beautiful thing that often happens, especially when the holidays overlap. I grew up in an interfaith family, as my mom converted religions shortly prior to marrying my dad (she already had an interest in the religion before they were engaged).
Play an instrument.
Sing Holiday songs.
Open Christmas Crackers
Watch the Radio City Rocketts
Look at Window Displays
Watch the fireworks on New Years (be careful if you’re going to set them off yourself for multiple reasons including preventing injuries and making sure there isn’t anybody with gun or explosion related PTSD living nearby).
Have a New Years Kiss
BE someone’s holiday present.
Sit on their lap and tell them what you want for Christmas 😉
Let them decide if you’re naughty or nice.
Stay up to date with the Iditarod.
Get vaccinated.
Decorate your room/house/apartment.
Put up fairy lights
Go to a Christmas carnival
Go sleigh riding
Cuddle up in front of the fire.
Take a nice warm bath
Make a gingerbread house
Decorate the Christmas tree
Build model train sets
Music:
Santa Tell Me-Ariana Grande
All I want for Christmas is You-Mariah Carrey.

My first full day at INSA!
On Friday, I joined my INSA buddy for breakfast and boy was I glad that she had suggested we eat at 7:15am, the tiny eatery was empty enough that the two of us could go at a snail's pace so I could comfortably figure out how the breakfast line worked.
The options were relatively basic, bread, plain yogurt, various little packets of jam and Nutella, and some fruit. There were also some drink dispensers, for hot drinks, milk, fruit juices, and ol' water. Speaking of water: while the tap is safe to drink and sinks are obviously everywhere, I noticed there was a distinct lack of drinking fountains on campus. I haven't seen /any/ in my time here.
After breakfast, I made a quick shopping trip to a store about 5 minutes away to grab some various items I'd need for the dorm (tissues, toilet paper, dish sponges, etc).
I noticed cars parallel parked in between tree fixtures, which I guess is one way to prevent the problem of That One Guy who takes up two designated parking spots, and it also took us ages to find out where the store actually was.
The grocery store, Carrefour, also had these shopping carts/baskets/basket-carts, which were really convenient
We quickly scurried back to campus with an armful of items because there is a bag tax here--plastic bags cost an additional 5 centimes. Most of the people in the checkout line were quite prepared with bringing their own reusable bags or just simply using an empty backpack, and at around 10am, we began our tour of campus.
Not only were several buildings in the process of being renovated, but there was a bunch of construction along the roads, and preparations being made for a campus-wide event this weekend. It's almost like I never even left Ann Arbor 🙃 All of the buildings were of similar shapes and colors, with the main exception of a bright [Ross-]orange building that had a giant traffic cone in front of it.
there's a PokeStop for the cone in PokemonGo, and it’s dubbed the “VLC”, presumably in honor of the video streaming application
Once our tour and brief orientation session wrapped up, a couple other exchange students and yours truly briefly went to a mall in Part-Dieu to do some shopping.
Lyon has been coined one of the smartest cities in France, and the way tech has been embedded into facets of everyday life, like this funky tram map, has been cool to see. Now if only our dorm could have WiFi...
There were a couple familiar stores, mostly those that sold cosmetics. I specifically saw Sephora, M.A.C., L'Occitane, The Body Shop and I smelled also found a Lush store. I stopped by a tiny food stand to grab a quick bite to eat, and I thought I held the conversation in decent French, but upon getting my card back from the cashier and receiving my food, she said "Thank you" in English, which caught me by surprise. I was genuinely worried that my French was so bad she resorted to using English. When I had paid for my groceries in the morning, the card reader initially had a display in French ("Insert/Tap your card", "please wait", etc.), but the "Remove card" message was in English. Maybe there's something embedded in my card that somehow affects the language of the card reader? And maybe that’s how she knew I wasn’t French...
In the afternoon, we had a cooking demonstration + apéro* planned from 2:30pm through about 8pm. An English teacher at INSA joined us for the spectacle in order to translate instructions and general comments that chef Dominique had made. We helped peel some asparagus, but after that point, chef Dominique and his assistants took care of the rest (with the exception of one student volunteer piping the whipped cream on the strawberries).
The menu for tonight consisted of:
cured ham, asparagus, and some very-well seasoned mayonnaise/hollandaise sauce
broccoli, small potato pancakes, and duck served with a vinegary-orange duck-based sauce
some cheese (I didn't take a picture of this, but I assure you, you will see a lot more photos of cheese)
freshly cut strawberries that were macerated with sugar
That was all happened Friday, and next up: Vieux Lyon (Old Lyon--a very beautiful, colorful, historic, and cobblestony part of Lyon about 20-25 minutes away from campus)
a+,
Christina
Computer Science
Entrepreneurship with INNOV@INSA
Lyon, France
Two fun facts because I forgot some in my last post, thanks for sticking around:
"prendre l'apéro" - "to have an aperitif" is the literal translation, where an "aperitif" would typically refer to a drink consumed before a meal, but this was a whole ordeal where we had some kir, savory finger food, and of course, the food that we watched the chefs prepare in the kitchen. It was delicious, so far, I've been fairly impressed with the food here, and Lyon is living up to its name as the gastronomic capital of France.
AND
Most, if not all, plastic water bottles I've seen with the smaller caps snap open/close, instead of being a screw top. This is supposedly an intentional design to prevent the caps from getting completely lost, and the Carrefour store also had several different kinds of recycling bins, including one dedicated to bottle caps. It’s interesting to see this much consideration toward bottle caps, now if only I could find a recycling bin on campus...😬

3. Beauty Tips with Patrick Starrrrrrrr
Ashley Graham enters the house, but this time she doesn’t bring any pesto pasta. She’s here to talk about accepting your own body and blah blah blah… it’s really hard to pay attention because Ashley’s boobs are on display in a major way.
But, sure, I agree, big is beautiful, particularly when it’s DD.
Ashley prompts the models to talk about their insecurities and who they’ll represent with their look. Jeana’s not just doing it for the alopecia sufferers, she’s also looking forward to repping for bald men. Yeah, she really said that. I don’t know how many men with receding hairlines have been waiting for a bald lady to make them feel good in their own hairless skin, but let’s go with it!
Coura says she’s cried in cab rides home from modeling agencies (cabs? did she also drop out of driver’s ed?) that have called her “too masculine.” Coura, you bitch, that’s Brendi K’s [the K stands for Ken doll] insecurity, you can’t steal it.
Christina is more confident in her look, which Ashley acknowledges. Christina says, “I don’t want to have that I’ve-been-there-done-that attitude, but…” Nope! Stop while you’re ahead Christina. “… but like I do have the experience.”
So she doesn’t want to say she’s been there, done that, but she also wants to say that she’s been there, done that. Christina, this is supposed to be about how you’re going to be relatable to people, not come off as obnoxious.
Next she claims to be more “professional” than the other girls… in what fucking world, Christina? She’s come off as a brat since moment one.
Ashley isn’t the only guest to visit the house. Next through the door is… Oh my god! It’s… whoever that is.
I don’t watch Youtube personalities nor do I wear makeup, so I had to google Patrick Star… which is apparently a Sponge Bob character.
From there I learned that the challenge’s special guest is actually named Patrick Starrr with three R’s. That’s more R’s than Kyle’s first love, Starr, even. I’m tempted to call that stupid, but if he’s brave enough to wear that outfit, he can have all the R’s he wants, I reckon.
It makes me feel better that we don’t get any evidence that anyone aside from Rio knows who Patrick Starrr is either. I mean, I guess Tyra did, too, since she appeared on his channel, but I watched the video and it’s clear to me she did it an attempt to plug her cosmetics line more than anything. I mean, she’s snapping on her gum like she’s too good to be there.
Rather than watching the full video, I suggest you watch this compilation of Tyra testing Patrick’s patience:
youtube
Anyway, Starrr is here to shoot beauty videos with the girls for a social media challenge. The girls get some unusual items to work with in their videos, like hardboiled eggs, scotch tape, shaving cream, and condoms. There’s also “chicken cutlets,” which I’m pretty sure is of the bra padding variety, but in my head, I’m pretending the models were rubbing their faces with raw chicken because that makes the segment that much more exciting. Salmonella, here we come!
The worst two performers, as far as we can tell, are Christina and Coura. Christina is too slow at pulling tape off the dispenser (hey, sometimes it gets stuck, we’ve all been there) while Coura talks way too fast to be understood. Too slow and too fast? No wonder they end up in the bottom two. I can hear Tyra’s speech already: “You each have what the other one needs…”
Erin also seems a little lost because she’s 40-whatever and doesn’t understand social media. She’s still waiting for all her fellow contestants to accept her Friendster invites.
As for the standouts, there’s Rio, who acts a little extra if you ask me, but that’s probably not a problem for viewers of someone like Patrick Starrrrrr.
The other stars are the team of Sandra and Shanice. Sandra can’t stop laughing that she got assigned the condoms because, I don’t know if you’ve heard this, she’s a virgin. If she’s not going to stuff a cock in it, I hope she at least stuffs a sock in it, because it’s really not that big of a deal.
Shanice, though, is out to prove that she’s every bit of the freak we assumed she was since that acting challenge. She says she has three personas: Sha-Nice, Sha-Mean, and Sha-Nasty, and while handling condoms, it’s Sha-Nasty who is out to play. She tells us that she likes “hard” condoms, and that she likes them on her face. Why would you want a condom on their face, though?
Unfortunately for Sha-Nasty, that’s just a little too vulgar to win the prize unless Law is judging, so her scene partner Sandra gets the win instead. Sandra’s video will appear on Patrick’s channel, misinforming viewers that rubbing condoms on your face is a good form of beauty treatment.

Top organic skin care products brands in 2021
The world of natural and organic skincare can be confusing as hell. Tons of brands label their products "non-toxic," "green," and/or "clean," but in reality, those terms don't mean anything because they're not regulated by the FDA. Yup, shock and awe. That's not to say everything you see on your favorite product label is a lie—it just means that as a consumer, you need to do your own research when it comes to buying natural and organic skincare. But because beauty should be fun, not a thesis-level research project, I did the work for you and rounded up the 20 best organic and natural skincare products below. They're all from trusted brands that work closely with third-party certification agencies (like the USDA,COSMOS, and ECOCERT) to ensure that everything from their packaging to their ingredients are safe for your skin and the planet. Your face (and conscience) are about to feel really, really good.
The appeal of a genuinely natural or organic product is intuitive: The compounds that a leaf uses to keep itself green or a raspberry uses to stay red and juicy can have real benefits on our skin. At goop, we value the antioxidant power of certain plants, the naturally occurring moisture content of others, and the beneficial acids or minerals in some. Products made with mostly plants or only plants—without the fillers and texturizers of many conventional products—contain more of that great plant material we’re all so attracted to also attracted to skin lightening serum.

[su_note note_color="#f4efe5"] Best Sunscreen For Kids [/su_note] Best Sunscreens For Sensitive Skin Buying Guide Choosing the best sunscreen for sensitive skin is not as easy as some people assume it is. Many people compare different sunscreens in the market with some believing that the higher the SPF, the more effective the product. Below is a buying guide to help you in choosing the perfect sunscreen for you and your family. Know your skin type The first step to buying the correct sunscreen is to know your skin type. If you have sensitive and dry skin type, then you cannot buy some products because they will dry the skin, even more, causing irritations and more sensitivity. If you have combination skin, you should also know the ingredients you can and cannot use on the skin. All the same, people with sensitive skin types mostly suffer from dryness caused by various factors, which leads to extreme sensitivity prone to easy burning from the sun’s rays. Babies have sensitive and delicate skin that needs protection at all times when outdoors. Buy products with broad-spectrum SPF 15 and above Buy sunscreens that have SPF 15 and above for the most effective protection against UVA and UVB rays. For the majority of the people with sensitive skin, SPF 15 is fine. However, for those that have extremely fair skin or come from a history of cancer in the family, SPF 15 is low and they should go for products with SPF 30 and above. Do not go with the belief that the higher the SPF, the more potent the sunscreen. A sunscreen with SPF 15 can filter out 95% of UVB/UVA effectively, which is not bad while one with SPF 30 can filter 97%. As you can see, the difference is not much. Ingredients The next most important thing to look for is the list of ingredients. You have to remember you are dealing with sensitive skin and anything toxic will irritate you even more. The most popular ingredients in quality sunscreens are zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. Other notable ingredients are avobenzone, ecamsule and oxybenzone. Zinc oxide and titanium dioxide are some of the oldest ingredients in sunscreens. They are also less expensive than the others are and they help to protect the skin effectively. Ecamsule is a new ingredient in the market that helps to block UVA. The ingredient is expensive and not as popular as the other two. Avobenzone is also another new and expensive ingredient that also blocks UVA effectively. Unlike zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, it is also not very popular. Water-resistant Another thing you should look for when buying a sunscreen is its water-resistant abilities. Being outdoors means you will either go for a jog, exercises, swimming or bask. You, therefore, need a product that can resist water and sweat. What it means for a sunscreen to be water-resistant is that it stays on for at least 40 minutes if exposed to water. The stronger ones can hold resistant for up to 80 minutes. Being water-resistant is not the same as being waterproof, which means that after some time, you will, need to reapply them for another round of protection. Brand name Sunscreens come in many different brands. Some of the brands are popular with many quality products to their names. However, you do have to go with a certain brand because everyone talks about it. If you have second thoughts on any brand irrespective of its reputations, go with the one you like or the one your dermatologist recommends. As much as personal preference is important, ensure that you are buying a product with all the right ingredients. Budget Your budget will also determine the kind of sunscreen you want. The prices of the products vary from brand to brand. Make sure to check how much you want to spend against the cost of the brand you want to purchase. Read reviews You are dealing with sensitive skin, which would get worse if you use anything irritating. To be completely sure about the product you want to buy, read all the reviews and compare them with those of a different product. The experience of the other users will help you to make a better decision on the product you want. Baby-friendly sunscreens Some of the adult sunscreens are not ideal for the delicate skin of the baby. This is because some of the adult sunscreens contain some chemicals that are too strong for the bay’s skin. Sunscreens with zinc oxide and titanium dioxide are safe r the bays skin but anything with ingredients such as oxybenzone or dioxybenzone should be a no as it can irritate. The American Academy Of Pediatrics also recommends that it is not safe to take babies under the age of six months out in the sun. For children aged six months and above, a sunscreen with SPF 15 is ideal. The safe sunscreens for children are also ideal for people with allergies and skin problems such as rosacea and eczema. Read Next: Best Face Wash for Sensitive Skin Wrapping it up Sunscreens are great for protecting the skin against UVA and UVB rays. However even as you use the best sunscreens for protection, you should also be careful. Follow the laid down guidelines on application and avoid staying with the product on the skin for a long time. All the above sunscreen products come with great reviews and they provide excellent protection against the ultraviolet rays. They are affordable and easily available. There is no better way of showing your skin love than by protecting it from damage. Take care of the skin around the eyes with Christina Cosmetics in Canada!
Some of you may not know but Christina cosmetics came to us in Canada not so long ago but has already won the hearts of many women across Canada and USA.
A little background about the brand:
The emergence of the CHRISTINA brand is directly related to its founder, Christina Miriam Zehavi, a living legend in the world of professional cosmetics.
When it was decided to turn the family cream business into a full-fledged brand, the question of under what name to produce cosmetics was not raised - of course, CHRISTINA. At first it was a small laboratory, where leading Israeli scientists worked on the creation of funds, and already in 1982, the demand for highly effective products grew so much that production moved to its own factory.
Today we will talk directly about the delicate skin care around the eyes from Christina, which you can already buy in Canada at Saloniq.ca
So, let's begin to learn about eye skin care with Christina cosmetics in Canada:
With a huge variety of cosmetic products, it is not so difficult to take care of the most delicate and sensitive area on the face today. Each remedy promises to protect and preserve the youthfulness of the skin around the eyes.

We nourish the skin and create a protective barrier. The main thing is to apply the products in the correct sequence.
Cosmetics in the form of serums, gels, concentrates from Christina Cosmetics in Canada

Their task is to nourish, moisturize and refresh the skin. Patches give a quick filling effect.
How to use: Apply to cleansed skin. There is no need to use them if you have already applied a serum or gel. Patches are rather convenient on the road, as an SOS tool. After them, it is recommended to apply a cream on the skin.
The skin around the eyes needs constant protection and a lipid base. Therefore, the final remedy for any care for the area around the eyes is a cream. For example, Christina Bio Phyto Enlightening Eye and Neck Cream.

Howard Schultz Is Becoming a Real Thorn in Starbucks’s Side
Investors are betting against SBUX, thanks to Schultz
As ex-Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz continues his ill-advised quest to run for president, there’s been a surge in short selling of SBUX stock. (For non-investor types, this means people are betting the company’s stock price will go down.) An actual bid for the presidency could encourage both liberals (who are worried Schultz will hand the election to Trump by running as an independent) and conservatives (who are unlikely to be fans of many of Schultz’s more progressive views) to boycott the coffee chain. Meanwhile, baristas are annoyed that customers keep asking them about their former boss’s political aspirations.
And in other news...
• In-N-Out emerged at least partially victorious in a lawsuit against Smashburger: A California court ruled that Smashburger’s “Triple Double” burger counts as false advertising because it does not in fact contain any more beef than a regular Smashburger. [Restaurant Business]
• Milk Bar mogul and cookbook author Christina Tosi made popcorn cake with Jimmy Fallon last night:
• Who will win the burrito delivery race: Chipotle or Taco Bell? Both chains are currently clocking around 30 minutes to deliver food to customers’ doors. [Bloomberg]
• Haagen-Dazs launched six flavors of boozy ice cream pints, including Rum Tres Leches and Stout Chocolate Pretzel Crunch. Sadly(?), these desserts only contain 0.5 percent alcohol, meaning you won’t need to flash ID to buy them. [Food&Wine]

• Extremely important Friday question: If a baguette magically had the ability to locomote, how would it move? (No. 3 is clearly the only reasonable answer here, though an insightful Eater editor observes there’s also an unrepresented fifth option: The bread could simply roll along on its side.)

Iconic Celebrity Hair and Makeup Moments to Re-Create This Halloween
In our humble opinion, the best Halloween costumes are ones that, well… don’t require a costume. Hear us out for a second. Contrary to popular belief, not all people who love this holiday are completely on board with getting gussied up from the shoulders down. And for that select crew, we recommend getting creative in the hair and makeup department.
If you don’t want to channel your inner vamp with a work-friendly beat, there’s also the opposite end of the spectrum: a look inspired by an iconic moment. From Bettie Page’s classic coif to one of Rihanna’s most memorable Met Gala moments, here are a handful of classic celebrity looks that anyone will recognize when you step out on the Halloween.
Brigitte Bardot
French-girl beauty wasn’t really a thing until this iconic beauty stepped onto the scene. If you’re looking for that “less is more” vibe, throw your hair into a messy updo, and pair it with a simple cat-eye and nude lip.

We go to the spa for miraculous products like mud packs and salt scrubs…
But with this MLM, you’ll get all of that at home.
Trouble is, you won’t save a dime doing it yourself.
Seacret Direct is a popular skincare network marketing company that was started in a mall kiosk in 2005.
You know those salespeople at mall kiosks who hound you every time you walk by practically begging you to let them scrub your hand with their miracle hand cream so that you, too, can experience the skincare wonders of the Dead Sea?
Welcome to Seacret Direct. They’re blowing the roof off of skincare MLMs, positioning their products as elite, spa-day products you need to feel good about yourself.
FAQ
1. What does Seacret Direct sell? Seacret Direct sells skincare made of Dead Sea minerals and the latest scientific technologies in skincare. They also sell nutrition products, beauty products, and hair care.
2. What are Seacret Direct’s most popular products? Seacret’s most popular products contain minerals from the Dead Sea, such as their M4 Mineral-Rich Magnetic Mud Mask and their Dead Sea Bath Salt. The Mud Mask pulls dirt and impurities away from your skill while leaving all the essential oils on your skin. The Bath Salt turns your bath into a relaxing spa experience that relaxes your muscles and rejuvenates your skin.
3. How much does it cost to join Seacret Direct? Join Seacret Direct and you become a Seacret Agent. Who doesn’t want that? To join, you’ll put out a $49 registration fee (which doesn’t make you active). To be active, you must close each week with 200 PV, have 4 active customers, or place a 35 BV order every 4 weeks. When you register, if you pay an additional $50 (for a total of $99), you’ll upgrade to the 5-in-5 Agent Kit. The compensation plan doesn’t explain the benefits of upgrading. Also, be aware, you’ll pay an annual fee of $49, due on the anniversary date of enrollment.
4. Is Seacret Direct a scam? No, it’s a legitimate business.
5. What is Seacret Direct’s BBB rating? A+
6. How long has Seacret Direct been in business? They became a direct selling company in 2011. Prior to that, they operated out of kiosks in malls across the country.
7. What is Seacret Direct’s revenue? $200 million
8. How many Seacret Direct distributors are there? 60,000
9. What lawsuits have been filed? In 2016, Seacret Spa sued Michelle Lee, defending its application for trademark. It was denied for being too similar to the deodorant, Secret. [1] In 2018, Khai Huynh, a Seacret Direct agent, sued Christina Nguyen, who runs a charity. He held a fundraising dinner, which was more successful than he expected, and failed to deliver all the donations. Nguyen accused him of misapplying the donations, and Khai sought relief in the Texas courts. [2, 3]
10. Comparable companies: Mary Kay, Nu Skin,
So should you get involved?
As far as the products go, the company seems legit. At least they’re doing something different.
But if it’s just the income opportunity that excites you, there are better options out there…

Either way, here’s the full review on Seacret Direct.
Overview
Seacret may have started out as a mall kiosk — the only thing more annoying than MLM — but it worked for them. They pretty much started the Dead Sea craze in skincare and cosmetics back in 2005 when they opened shop in Phoenix, AZ.
Seacret Direct was founded and run by two brothers, Izhak Ben Shabat and Mordechai Ben Shabat. They’re really the quintessential American Dream story.
The brothers originally immigrated to the United States from Israel in 2000 for medical school, but, inspired by the entrepreneurial spirit of the U.S., they started dreaming about having their own company instead. The brothers tried everything from an ice cream truck to mall kiosks that sell children’s toys during the holidays that grossed over $4 million. [4]
But they really struck gold when they started selling their Dead Sea products, inspired by their homeland, in mall kiosks.
Within only 5 years they were global, with hundreds of outlets in almost 20 countries and were pushing over $500 million in sales since launch. [5] Some of their biggest markets are outside of the U.S. in places like Australia and Korea. [6]
Now they’re #72 on the Direct Selling News 2018 Global 100 List. [7] They’ve got an A+ rating with the BBB and 4.34 out of 5 stars for customer reviews, and they’ve been featured in Business Wire and Business2Community for their innovative marketing techniques. [8] [9]
Like any MLM, they have a few potentially fatal flaws. One of their biggest appears to be their management style and corporate culture. They’ve got a 2.1 employee rating on Glass Door and some of the worst employee reviews I’ve seen from people who worked at corporate.
According to reviews, former employees seem to agree that the upper-level management running the company is made up of people who are inexperienced, unrealistic, mean, unethical, and even abusive. One former employee goes so far as to recommend working there only “if you want to see what PTSD feels like.” [10]
Products
If it’s an MLM, it’s got to have a gimmicky ingredient from some far off land (hint: Monat or Senegence).
With Seacret Direct, it’s about as exotic and legendary as it gets: The Dead Sea.
According to the company, the Dead Sea contains 26 essential minerals, and 12 of those minerals don’t exist in any other ocean in the world. These 12 minerals provide benefits for relaxation, skin nourishment, and healing in ways that no other minerals can. [11]
They’ve got a whole drugstore worth of Dead Sea skincare products, from cleansers and exfoliators to moisturizers and nail products to masks and hand creams. Their skincare lines include…
Facial Solutions
Their line of facial care products includes facial soap and face wash, CC creams and cosmetic products, makeup remover, eye creams, and mud masks. They range from $17 for a bar of mud soap to a whopping $240 for a “mineral-rich magnetic mud mask.”
Body Solutions
This is their line of body care products, including body lotions, soaps, foot and hand creams, salt scrubs, and mud therapy products. The body products range from around $16-$50.
Age-Defying
Their line of age-defying products includes anti-aging serums, eye creams, and face masks. They range all the way up to $315.
Re-Cover
The Re-Cover line is only available in Canada, but according to Seacret Direct, it’s so popular that the delivery is backed up at least 14 days at all times. They claim that the product literally unfolds the wrinkles in your skin.
Compensation Plan
The starter kit is $49, which is reasonably affordable. Reps get 30% commission on personal sales, on average, which is less than more established MLMs like Arbonne (35%). [12]
Seacret Direct runs on a binary compensation plan and offers reps 5 ways to earn cash.
Retail Sales
Commission on personal sales ranges from 30%-150%, according to them, but basically, your commission rate is 30%. A little below average.
Preferred Customer Program
Preferred customers get a discount for ordering on monthly auto-ship, and distributors get 25% of their monthly auto-ship orders which means… passive residual income, every money chaser’s dream. This is the honeypot when it comes to the compensation plan, but landing preferred customers is not easy. Especially when their products are overpriced.
Team Commission
Team commission is the other big ticket item here. You can earn 10-15% on your lesser leg, or even more if you move up high enough in rank.
Leadership Check Match Bonus
This is the holy grail of all bonuses. It’s not easy to get, but if you hit it, you’ve hit the jackpot. If you become a Bronze Director, you get a percentage (up to 20%) of every other Bronze Director’s check in your downline sent to your bankroll.
Performance Bonus
These are your typical car bonuses, lifestyle bonuses, and rank advancement bonuses.
Recap
Overall, this is a pretty solid company. They’ve managed to really skyrocket their growth in just over a decade, and they seem to be here to stay.
Their products, while overpriced, are well-reviewed and established. Their commission rates are mediocre but they offer some really great bonuses.
That being said, those really great bonuses are only for the very, very special few who manage to get to the top.
Like most MLMs, there’s money to be made, but 99.9% of the people working here aren’t seeing it.
Look, I’ve been involved with network marketing for over ten years so I know what to look for when you consider a new opportunity.
After reviewing 200+ business opportunities and systems out there, here is the one I would recommend:

It’s not just a sci-fi scenario in the Handmaid’s Tale: Actual scientists are worrying about a coming reproductive apocalypse.
You heard me right.
Over the past 30 years, as concerns that environmental changes are harming our reproductive capacity have grown, scientific journal articles have trickled out that look at whether sperm counts are declining. But those studies were often riddled with flaws and limitations, and scientists couldn’t agree on how to interpret them.
Then came what’s now considered the most definitive study on the question, published in the journal Human Reproduction Update in 2017. The finding that got a lot of attention: The concentration of sperm in semen, also known as sperm count, halved in the West since the 1970s. The finding that got less attention: Even the new low is still well within a normal range for sperm.
In the press release for the study, the authors declared a sperm-centric public health emergency. “This study is an urgent wake-up call for researchers and health authorities around the world to investigate the causes of the sharp ongoing drop in sperm count,” said Dr. Hagai Levine, the study’s lead author, from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem’s Faculty of Medicine, “with the goal of prevention.”
Since then, online communities known as the “manosphere,” where men fret about being emasculated, have seized on the study as evidence that they are being feminized by modern society. GQ portrayed the decline as an augur of a dystopian future. “Within a generation, men may lose the ability to reproduce entirely,” Daniel Noah Halpern wrote in the magazine in September.
Lost in this conversation, as usual, is nuance about the research. I spent the past week talking to epidemiologists, andrologists (the male equivalent of gynecologists), and fertility doctors who work on male reproductive health and found a pretty stark divide. While the epidemiologists were generally more convinced by the sperm-pocalyse, the front-line practitioners treating men were not.
“If it were true [that sperm counts halved], in all the studies we do on normal young men, we’d see sperm concentrations of 30 million instead of 60 million,” Brad Anawalt, a University of Washington hormone specialist focused on male infertility, told me. “We just don’t see that.”
But even the sperm-pocalyse skeptics I spoke to agreed there’s a trend decline — it just probably looks much less ominous than the Handmaid’s Tale. So here are the sperm questions that are bound to come up — everything from what might be causing the decline to whether men are having a harder time having children — answered.
Human sperm. Getty Images/Science Photo Library RF
Before we get into today’s sperm troubles, let’s start with a quick primer on what healthy sperm are supposed to look like.
Sperm, as you may know, are the reproductive cells in semen, and they’re produced in the testes. “The testicle is a boiler making sperm constantly,” Paul Turek, a California-based researcher and urologist in men’s infertility, explained. And when sperm are made, they’re like a fine wine — they need to be stored and aged for 72 days before they’re ready to travel.
Once mature, they travel from the testes through a network of tubes that propel them out of the penis during ejaculation, picking up enzymes and other ingredients of semen along the way.
When doctors test sperm quality, through a semen analysis, there are a few important measures they look at:
Sperm count (or sperm concentration): Semen that has at least 15 million sperm per milliliter is more likely to fertilize an egg, so that’s the level of concentration fertility doctors want to see in men hoping to have kids.
Motility: To get to the egg, sperm have to be able to swim, so movement is another key measure. Men with sperm where at least 40 percent are moving are more likely to be fertile.
Morphology: The shape of the sperm matters too. They should look just like tadpoles — immortalized in the Woody Allen classic Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex But were too afraid to Ask — with little oval heads and long tails. A man’s chance of conceiving is thought to go up the more normal-shaped sperm he has.
But these measures aren’t perfect. Turek said studies on semen quality in the same man can look 100 percent different sample to sample. Some of this is because of human bias. For example, morphology is a more controversial predictor of fertility, in part because the people reading samples can have varying views on the proportion of abnormally shaped sperm. Lifestyle factors (like drinking, smoking, saunas) can also dramatically change sperm quality, so a man’s semen can look very different depending on what he’s been up to recently. (More on this later.)
The sperm quality measures also aren’t always predictive of fertility. While a man with no sperm can’t father a child through intercourse, researchers have found some men with relatively low sperm counts can conceive — and others with more abundant sperm can’t.
“I always say normal is 15 million sperm per mL,” Anawalt said. “That means millions of sperm in the ejaculate. But why is it that some men can conceive and other guys with the same numbers don’t conceive? It’s a great mystery what divides those two groups of men.”
Okay, so back to the panic over falling sperm counts.
In the Human Reproduction Update paper — a systematic review and meta-analysis — researchers at Hebrew University and Mount Sinai medical school brought together data from 185 studies on sperm samples collected between 1973 and 2011.
These studies involved 43,000 men in men from around the world — including North America, Europe, Oceania, South America, Asia and Africa. And they focused on sperm count (because unlike sperm morphology and motility, the sperm count metric hasn’t changed over the years). Specifically, they included only studies that collected the semen via masturbation, and used “hemocytometer,” a counting-chamber device, for measuring sperm counts.
Christina Animashaun/Vox
Their major finding: Sperm counts fell by 53 percent in the past four decades in North America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. In the early 1970s, men had, on average, 99 million sperm per milliliter of semen. By 2011, that number dropped to 47 million per milliliter. So, with every passing year, men’s sperm count dropped by about 1 percent “with no evidence of a ‘leveling off’ in recent years,” the study authors warned.
“This was the most recent [study] trying to answer the question,” said Harvard’s Jorge Chavarro, a fertility-focused epidemiologist, who was not involved in the study, “and by far the most convincing evidence that sperm counts are dropping.”
But before we get carried away, a couple of caveats about that meta-analysis.
While the 50 percent drop in the West sounds dramatic, men’s sperm counts are still well within a normal range. As one andrology professor told the Science Media Centre, average sperm counts went from “‘normal’ (99 million sperm per mL) to ‘normal’ (47 million sperm per mL).” And again, doctors don’t start worrying until semen dips below 15 million sperm per mL.
The study authors also found the slope of the sperm count decline wasn’t as significant in the non-Western countries (in South America, Asia and Africa), where sperm count even went up among men who were known to have fathered a child. (They thought this may be because men in non-Western countries haven’t been exposed to the same chemicals from industrial development as Western men have; more on that later.) But this raises the question of whether there’s something else that’s different about the groups or studies that might explain this variation.
Finally, the study was based on older studies done in different countries and labs. Unlike a new experiment specifically designed to test the question of what’s going on with men’s swimmers, it’s possible these older studies have important confounding factors, or unmeasured variables, that influenced the results.
Male fertility doctors, like Anawalt and Turek, also said they just haven’t seen this dramatic decline in sperm counts during their years in practice, and they’re not convinced a there’s an apocalypse coming.
To truly prove sperm counts halved, you’d need a long-term prospective study — one that looks forward in time, following men over generations, Turek said. But we don’t have that, and the 2017 study is the best data we have. Still, even critics like Turek, who disagree with the dramatic slope of the decline in that paper, believe it belies a trend. “It’s pretty convincing things are trending down,” he said.
“The leading hypothesis is that there has been a vast increase in the number and volume of chemicals that have entered the environment during the last 50 years,” Chavarro said. Shutterstock
Scientists’ best guess is that there are a number of changes in how we live that haven’t been good for sperm. Being overweight or obese is associated with poorer semen quality — and we’ve seen rates of overweight and obesity soar over the past several decades. Smoking, stress, sedentary lifestyles, and alcohol and drug use are all also implicated.
But a major factor (and one that’s surprisingly uncontroversial among scientists) is thought to be the rise of the 20th-century chemical industry.
“The leading hypothesis is that there has been a vast increase in the number and volume of chemicals that have entered the environment during the last 50 years,” Chavarro said.
Think about it. Much of the food we eat, and the everyday objects we use these days, are stored in or made using plastics, which contain man-made chemicals. These chemicals are also present in our creams and cosmetics, our household cleaning products, as well as our drugs and medical devices. They leach into our food and water, into the environment, and into our bodies.
Most are thought to be harmless. But as I’ve explained with my colleague Radhika Viswanathan, some can mess with our hormones — as “endocrine disruptors” — in ways that hamper our reproductive capacity.
Specifically, chemicals like BPA, BPS, and phthalates are known to mimic hormones like estrogen, interfere with important hormone pathways in the thyroid gland, and inhibit the effects of testosterone. And even though many companies are now manufacturing phthalate- or BPA-free products, scientists are concerned about substitute chemicals, since they’re often functionally similar to the chemicals of concern.
What this means for men’s sperm counts: Men who are exposed to hormone disruptors in utero have been shown to produce less testosterone, less sperm, and have other physiological changes associated with, as GQ’s Halpern put it, being “less male.”
For example, there’s compelling data that in utero phthalate exposure is linked to a decrease in something called “anogenital distance,” or AGD, in baby boys. AGD is the space between the anus and the genitals, and a man’s is usually twice as long as a woman’s. In men, a shorter AGD has been associated with poorer semen quality, less testosterone, and a higher risk of infertility.
One of the scientists to first describe this phenomenon, Mount Sinai’s Shanna Swan, told Vox that these early chemical exposures have lifelong results. “The lowered androgen and alteration of development that happens in utero [results in] changes that are lifelong,” she said. “They are not correctable. Maybe in the future with genetic modification, you can alter a man’s germ cells that produce his sperm — but for now, if those are impacted adversely, a man will have a lowered sperm count his whole life.”
Just because there’s compelling data doesn’t mean we have air-tight answers. Since we’re exposed to these chemicals from many sources simultaneously, and we were exposed to them alongside all those other lifestyle changes I mentioned earlier, it’s tricky to tease out cause and effect. For now, though, it’s the best explanation experts have.
The short answer is: It’s hard to know.
A couple is diagnosed with infertility after one year of unprotected sex. In the US, between 12 and 15 percent of couples are unable to conceive at that point. About a third of the time, the problem is with the man. According to the Centers for Disease Control, the number of couples who would be classified as infertile, and the number of women seeking out fertility services, hasn’t changed much since 2002. (And by some measures, it’s been getting better.)
But even if the numbers were getting worse, we have to keep in mind that couples are waiting longer to get pregnant, and older age is associated with a higher risk of infertility. For that reason, even the measure of couples seeking fertility services — which hasn’t budged significantly over the past two decades — isn’t very telling.
So these aren’t perfect measures of male infertility, and the truth is we don’t have good data on whether we’ve hit a reproductive apocalypse.
In 2015, the National Institutes of Health brought researchers from around the world together to discuss the question. Importantly, they differentiated between fertility (how many kids people have) and fecundity (how many they are capable of having). Fertility rates have fallen dramatically over the past half-century, but they are heavily influenced by social factors: changes in working patterns, access to birth control, wars, the economy, etc.
Fecundity, on the other hand, is not. And the researchers determined that the question of whether fecundity is changing is currently unanswerable based on current data.
Again, even the 2017 study suggests men still have well-above-normal sperm counts on average. So the big question is what happens if average sperm counts continue their trend decline, to the point where they fall below the levels associated with fertility. That’s what worries people — and not just because there might be fewer kids running around.
Sperm is increasingly viewed as a little window into men’s health. So even beyond the ability to father a child, there are strong associations between poor semen quality and poor health.
In a very interesting article, published in 2009, researchers followed 40,000 men who had sought treatment for infertility, tracking them for up to 40 years. And they found a striking correlation between good semen quality and a lower risk of death. “Mortality decreased as the percentages of normal and motile sperm increased,” they wrote. “Mortality also decreased as the sperm concentration increased up to a threshold of 40 million/mL, which mirrors the finding for the ability to conceive.”
Other papers on different cohorts of men have uncovered similar correlations between mortality, diseases like cancer, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease — and poor sperm quality.
“It’s clear from a number of epidemiological studies that male’s fertility can be a determinant of his overall health,” said Stuart Moss, the director of male reproductive health at NIH’s fertility and infertility branch. “So a low sperm count is troubling from a number of areas. One is, if the trend continues, I’d imagine at some point in time we could start seeing [fecundity] decrease. But more immediately, it could be a biomarker for poor health in general.”

I’m glad you asked. Because men can indeed take steps that are sperm-friendly.
Remember: Sperm take 72 days to mature in the body. After that, the mature sperm wait around to get ejaculated. In men who don’t have sex or ejaculate for a long time, those mature sperm can get funky. So one way to increase your fertility is to … have more sex. But not too much.
“The average healthy 18-year-old can ejaculate every day and recharge in time,” said University of Washington’s Anawalt. But for men in their 30s and beyond, sex two or three times per week is thought to be ideal.
Women will be glad to learn that sex with lots of foreplay is better than a quickie or masturbation when it comes to releasing high-quality sperm. “The longer you wait (to ejaculate), the more sperm come out,” Turek explained.
Besides having regular sex, there are other important things men can do to improve their semen quality (and chances of fathering a child):
Remember, it takes a little over two months to replenish a men’s entire sperm population in the testes. So the benefits of any of these changes may take a little while to show up in a semen analysis.
“Treat your body like a temple,” Turek tells his patients. “Pretend you’re training for a race. You need to take great care of yourself. Eat well. Sleep well. Reduce your stress. Exercise. Eat a heart-healthy diet. Your sperm count can be a biomarker of your health.”
Original Source -> Sperm counts are falling. This isn’t the reproductive apocalypse — yet.
