The next morning we are back in Windenburg.

Alden was sitting at the dining table waiting for Katharina. It was Edward's birthday and Alden wanted to discuss the festivities with his wife.

When Katharina came down, he asked her to sit down with him.

Katharina: "Alden. What do you want?"

Alden: "Today is the birthday of our eldest son. I think we should plan the celebration for him together."

Katharina raised an eyebrow and looked at him in surprise. Otherwise you decided everything on your own."

Alden: "Now make a point. After all, I'm the head of the family. The future Viscount."

Katharina: "The emphasis is on the future. ''By the way, where are your father and Nasia? I haven't seen her since the day before yesterday."

Alden began to foam with anger again. "Where my age and his bastard are is not of interest to me at the moment. I would now like to discuss the celebration for Edward."

Katharina: "But I don't want to discuss the celebration with you. Have you already called the lawyer about the divorce papers?"

Angrily, Alden pressed his lips together into a thin line.

Katharina: "That probably means no. Then we both have nothing further to discuss. If you'll excuse me, I have to go to work."

As soon as Katharina arrived at school, she looked for Christina. She found her friend in the library.

Christina: "Oh, there you are. I was worried that you didn't get in touch yesterday. How did it go?"

Katharina looked at her friend and at first she couldn't answer her at all. But then she felt this warmth in her heart, the trust she had in her. "Oh, I arrived at Alden's company and my husband was busy flirting with his new secretary.

Christina: "Oh that bastard."

Katharina: "It's like you said. Once a cheater, always a cheater. I told him that I wanted a divorce."

Christina: "And what was his answer?"

Katharina sighed heavily. "Answer. He hasn't even answered yet. As always, he reacts with anger and stagnation. He doesn't want to admit that it's over. I'm afraid he thinks it's just a phase on my part."" She paused. "Earlier, he actually wanted to plan Edward's birthday with me."

Christina looked at her intensely, with a look that gets under your skin. "And is that it?"

Confused, Katharina replies to hers. Her pulse accelerates and her stomach began to tingle. "What?" she whispered.

Katharina's mouth went dry. Her gaze was glued to Christina's lips. Helplessly, she shook her head. "No, not a phase. I finally want to be myself and be free. To be able to love freely.“

Christina: "What about your sons?"

Katharina swallowed audibly. "You will understand. They will be fine."

Christina smiled crookedly.

The distance between them melted away, like Katharinas self-control. Their lips touched and for the very first time in her lives, Katharina lost herself in a kiss and forgot the world around her.

“Even if all your choices are bad, you have to pick the best bad choice because that’s the only choice you’re going to have to survive,” says Gary Cole, explaining why his character, NCIS Special Agent in Charge Alden Parker, made the split-second decision to pose as a heart surgeon in the latest episode.

The actor told us more about filming the adrenaline-pumping installment in our weekly after show NCIS: Case Closed. (To see the entire interview where he breaks down the episode, watch the video above.) Parker allowed himself to be kidnapped along with a real cardiac specialist, Navy Commander Clara Logan (Christina Kirk), who was being taken to operate on Colombian drug kingpin Carlos Savina (Juan Javier Cardenas).

Suspenseful storyline aside, the hour also gave us the opportunity to learn more about Parker, who almost passed out when the patient’s chest was opened up. “Apparently [Parker has problems] stomaching certain things, which is funny to me because he seems to have no problem walking through an autopsy room looking at carved up bodies. There must be something about an actual beating heart that throws him — or the actual cutting,” says Cole. “I wouldn’t say that I’m squeamish on a level like that. But I don’t have any needle fear.”

Turns out that “needle fear” known as “trypanophia” is also an issue for the team leader. But it’s another one of his “phobias” — commitment — that he might have to deal with going forward. Even in crisis, he and doc Logan delivered on banter. By the episode’s end, their exchanges took on a tender aspect that seemed to surprise Parker himself. “I don’t know that you were left with the feeling that Christine’s character may be returning. That’s the way it looks to me. And since we’re coming back, we’ll find that out,” Cole says, alluding to the procedural’s renewal for a 22nd season.

Will this season, like previous ones of NCIS, end on a cliffhanger? Cole will only drop a subtle hint about the finale: “What I can say that people are in trouble. Big trouble. And it’s going to take everybody — and I’ll lay a little hint — it’s going to take everybody on board. If you take the clue.”

After Alden's death, Benjamin had decided to move back to Windenburg to the family manor.

Because in the meantime, Edward also became the father of a son. His mother Emberlyn unfortunately died in childbirth. Edward was completely overwhelmed with his studies and baby Abram.

When he arrived, he saw Jonathan Freyes approaching the property. The vampire certainly had nothing good in mind.

Benjamin roared, "Get out of here, you bastard." Without wasting any more time, he cast a spell.

The vampire didn't know what was happening to him. Lightning danced across his body.

Less than a second later, the intruder had disappeared.

A few hours later ...

Edward was glad that his grandfather was living with him again. Since he had to go to university, he could confidently leave Abram with Benjamin.

The fact that a vampire had tried to enter the house made him panic. So Edward knew he had to do something.

He was the heir to the Viscount title, he had to be able to protect his family. He could not rely on Aunt Clementine every time in danger. Therefore, he decided to strengthen his magic.

After his university course, he teleported into the realm of magic.

He met with the three sages of magic and was surprised to meet John Black. He was not aware that he was the reigning sage of mischievous magic.

John Black: "Edward Gothington."

Edward nodded to him in greeting.

John Black: "What gives us the honor?"

Edward: "I want to learn and I ask that you train me."

Christina Lee: "Another Gothington who strives for higher things."

Edward: "Certainly not. I just want to be able to protect my family. The vampires are becoming more and more aggressive."

John Black: "Wasn't your son's mother Emberlyn Vatore? The daughter of the traitor Morgyn Ember and the vampire Caleb Vatore."

They knew about Abram and his brief relationship with Emberlyn. Of course, the three were the most powerful mages in society. The wise men, they had to know everything. "Yes, but Emberlyn was a magician and and not responsible for the actions of their parents. My son is also a magician. Not a vampire. And that's exactly why we are at risk. Therefore, I ask for your help. Train me in magic."

Happy Bookoween! In honor of Halloween month, I wanted to post a master list of some of my favorite horror novels. I'm always hesitant to do lists, since it feels like the last word I have to say on a subject, so I'll likely be updating it as I come across more horror gems.
