Beyond the culinary adventures, the day also shines a light on the pineapple’s deep-rooted cultural significance.
In the Western world, pineapples symbolize warmth and welcome, a tradition dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries. In Asia, they represent prosperity and good fortune, while in the Caribbean, they symbolize friendship.
Moreover, pineapples have vast health benefits. They are packed with vitamin C, bromelain (which aids digestion and reduces inflammation), and other essential nutrients that support our immune system, skin health, and more.
These golden fruits not only add a burst of flavor to our plates but also contribute to our well-being, making them a celebrated component of diets worldwide.

The day’s roots are a bit mysterious, but it’s believed to have blossomed in the Caribbean. This region, after all, is where pineapples have long danced in the sun, symbolizing warmth and friendship.
It wasn’t long before the entire world caught on, eager to join the pineapple party. Now, imagine pineapples everywhere throwing their leafy crowns in the air like they just don’t care. This day is their time to shine, from kitchen tables to social media feeds.
So, every June 27th, people across the globe slice, dice, and celebrate. They’re not just indulging in juicy bites; they’re toasting a symbol of hospitality that’s rolled its way into hearts and homes.

Jalapeno bacon cheese burger
Tumblr media
On the left bottom bun, red onion 🟣 sticks and pickled jalapeno 🫑 peppers on top of chipotle aioli 🟠 (yes I know chipotle is dried jalapeno). On the right some bacon 🥓 on yellow mustard 〽️. The bun is a bit rough, defrosted in the microwave and cut while still hot, didn't toast it I'm sorry for my burger sins.

Burger patty slathered in barbecue sauce 🟤 (I poured too much both sides, derp) on top of a bed of lettuce 🥬 with real cheddar 🧀 melted on top.
Great end to the week, no fries but I have perogies in the freezer. 🤔

the only way i can get myself to get groceries without being psychologically tortured is by pretending to be in a sadalinar modern au where dalinar lost his license after a drunk hit and run and also evi divorced him and took the kids so hes kind of sort of living alone in a crappy apartment just like me and the grocery store is not accessible by foot because god hates him and so every week sadeas picks him up in his stupid midlife crisis bugatti to take him to the grocery store. and sadeas claims hes being forced to do this at gunpoint and that he hates it. but then why does he go out for lunch with dalinar every time beforehand huh. I Know Who You Are. anyway using the lens of special interest as an anesthesia to the terrible horrible awful process of getting groceries makes it go from a terrible horrible ordeal to something that i can imagine being an indie comic

Totally Chipotle Day
Totally Chipotle Day is celebrated annually every May 5. It’s a day to pay homage to the humble chipotle pepper, which is used in Mexican and Mexican-inspired dishes in the U.S. This kind of pepper is indeed versatile enough to be used in any cuisine. Hotter than a poblano pepper but not as hot as a serrano pepper on the Scoville scale, National Totally Chipotle Day is a perfect time to stock up on these tasty peppers and use them liberally to add spice to your day.
History of Totally Chipotle Day
Chipotle peppers have been around since ancient times. It’s as old as Mexican cuisine itself. Their name comes from ‘Nahuatl,’ the language spoken by the Aztecs. It combines the words ‘chili’ (pepper) and ‘poctli’ (smoke), to mean ‘smoked pepper.’ A favorite of many pepper aficionados, it actually begins as a jalapeño pepper. There are different varieties of jalapeños with varying degrees of heat. It was once primarily found in the markets of central and southern Mexico. From the total production of jalapeños in Mexico, 60% accounts for pickled products, 20% is consumed fresh, and 20% becomes chipotle.
It became widely available in the more northern areas of North America as Mexican food became sought after and jalapeño production and processing likewise expanded to that area. The traditional process of its transformation starts when ripe, red jalapeño peppers are put out to dry. After being placed on metal grills, the peppers are then smoked in an oven for several days until they completely dry out. Many Mexican peppers have two names, one for the fresh version and another for the smoked or dried version.
The process results in an earthy and pungent ingredient. Its deep smokey flavor and complexity are best paired with flavors that help round it out. Lime juice, cilantro, garlic, or a touch of sweetness are some ideas to try. American favorites like tacos, chilis, and enchiladas are dishes that go well with their flavor. You can also use them in soups, sauces, salsa, marinades, and roasted vegetables. The possibilities for this pepper are endless!

Some worldbuilding for the town that Manny lives in:
Small town gothic: Nobody knows if it has a name, not even the people who live there. Hell, you're not even sure how you got here.
It's definitely one of those freeway towns that look just like every other freeway town you've seen, but big enough to at least need a police station.
The hotel and the apartments are next door to each other, and yes you will probably get the buildings confused.
There are two chain restaurants across the street from each other that still use those slide letter signs. The owners once got in a fight and used the signs to passively aggressively slag off the other's business for a month.
There are several other nonhumans that live in the town that credit Manuel's efforts in at least making it relatively safe for them
And bonus of a few of the other nonhumans that Manny interacts with pretty often:
Elizabeth Sinclair (Age: 231. Appears: 64. Gender: Female. Species: Vampire)—Elderly woman who lives in the same hall as Manny with a young girl who she claims is her granddaughter. Rumor has it that she’s related to the people that founded the town, while others claim that it was her that founded it, though she will never tell. Happens to enjoy having coffee with Manny on his free time.
Veronica Sinclair (Age: Unknown. Appears: 15. Gender: Female. Species: Thrall)—There’s no known knowledge of when Veronica had first come across the vampires, and Elizabeth only speaks very little of what had happened beyond illness. Whatever the case, the girl at least seems relatively okay with her situation even if she will never be fully turned. Calls Manny “Manuelo”, much to his distaste for the name.
Kris (Age: ???. Gender: Nonbinary. Species: ???)—Nobody really knows anything about them beyond the fact that they’re the local mortician whether it’s for the funeral home or the cops have a body that needs prep and collection… and the fact that they appear to live in the funeral home for some reason. Are they some kind of magic user who stumbled upon the secrets of immortality? Are they a very strange wolf? One thing is for certain is that they happen to be Manny’s blood dealer of choice, and that’s all that matters to him.
