Mk1 Random Drawings #6

The Grandmaster of The Lin Kuei.
He's fierce, cold, and mean. So are the others. No one understands why he did that. You wouldn't too, unless you experienced what he experience.
He's such an edge lord. And we all love that.

I won't say that the Al Ghuls should be anything other than Chinese and Arab in canon because they have a whole history with Orientalism and Islamophobia and representation matters etc, but man a south asian background would make so much more sense for Ra's philosophy.
The understanding of animals as being just as sentient as humans, the noblesse-oblige justification for his actions, his apparent attachment to the Himalayas... Like. He should be Pakistani, or mixed Tibetan-Afghani.
Also Talia would look so killer in a Kurti.
#ras al ghul#talia al ghul#The LOA is an amalgam of Japanese ninjas and Chinese warrior-monks and the original Persian assassins#so idk yeah it makes sense to acknowledge that by making Ra’s be of those cultures#(he’s not Japanese but hey the point gets across)#it feels a little janky though#and veers very easily into just making Ra’s and Talia avatars of Asian/Arab stereotypes#headcanon

My bestfriends brother ⋆。‧˚ʚ♡ɞ˚‧。⋆
Summary: Things don't go as planned when your close friend invites you to watch the new Johnny Cage movie.
Notes: Post-mk1 story and Bi-hans betrayal never happened. AFAB reader isn't one of earthrealms champions just a cool girl Tomas started to become friends.
Content Warnings:NSFW, dub-con fingerbang, small temperature play ,female masturbation.

Chinese culture was a beautiful sight but she still loathed her father for moving here, leaving behind her old friends and memories. She struggled to learn the language and felt outcasted amongst her peers all but one, a silver haired man named Tomas the same age as her. He knew what it felt like to be different from everyone else. A friendship began to spark between the two of them sharing stories of the past and present. Tomas was a good listener and sometimes she just needed to get things off her chest.
It had taken a lot of convincing to allow her at the fire temple Kuai liang was content with her visiting considering she looked as if she had never fought in her life, she put an end to that assumption when showing off her meteor hammer skills, she had shown interest in martial arts from a young age. Both Kuai Liang and Tomas looked impressed they had never seen a warrior move so beautifully and Tomas was practically drooling.
Bi-han however was not too fond of having a stranger enter their home let alone train with her brothers whilst not being lin kuei.
"I promise I am not a threat Grandmaster I simply enjoy the company of Tomas and practicing how to use my meteor hammer in a professional sense." Tomas felt his heart race at her statement.
Bi-han only grunted a popular gesture of his," You are no lin kuei do not presume to address me as Grandmaster." As he walked away stoicly, she began to admire him his handsome face and hot physique could not go unnoticed.
She became more comfortable around Tomas even making jests about wanting to fuck his brother, "Yeah I'd totally freeze my tongue on Bi-han's flag pole" Tomas laughed awkwardly hiding how uncomfortable he was and he looked almost...hurt?
She found herself becoming more comfortable around the lin kuei trio kuai liang appreciated her fire puns but Bi-han only shot her deathly glares.
"Are you ready to have your mind blown?" Tomas asked with a stupid grin he was excited to be apart of Johnny cage's new movie even if someone else was casted he was interested on how they would portray him. "Didn't know ninjas were allowed TV's" actually Tomas and Johnny had convinced Bi-han to install one.
Tomas and Y/n sat on the soft couch sharing popcorn. Tomas was blushing due to how close her leg were to his,she was wearing a skirt but he knew not to look at it she'd probably think he was some kind pervert and never want to speak to him again. Their faces were glued to the screen until interrupted by a deep voice. "What are you two morons doing?" Tomas jumped at the sound of Bi-hans voice but Y/n just smiled and replied "Watching the movie about you guys, the guy Johnny got to play you really captures your essence" The actor had been grumpy and mascular just like Bi-han.
Bi-han let out an annoyed grunt,"I told Cage our victory is not for entertainment" although he disproved of the movie being made he still wanted to see what the fuss was all about, motioning for Tomas to move up now sitting in the middle, between his adopted brother and his friend who he found to be alluring.
Bi-han removed the popcorn from her lap and gave it to Tomas that may have been the kindest thing Bi-han had done for him yet his only intention was to get a view of Y/N's skirt. It was a black plaid skirt with a pink ribbon around the middle that was above knee length. 'Why is he staring at me' Y/n began to think while Tomas was too focused laughing at the movie. Bi-han stared at her as a predator stared at it's prey. She looked at him for a split second making eye contact only to quickly look down and play with her fingers which was a common thing for her to do when nervous.
This action only annoyed the cryomancer next to her causing him to pull her hands apart placing them on her sides. He turned to look at Tomas seeing him stuck on the screen like a kid at a candy store, Bi-han rolled his eyes and looked back to the girl next to him. He begun rubbing his rough hands on her gentle thighs. His hands were cold she shivered at his touch. He put a lock of her hair behind her ear almost as a way to reassure her everything was going to be okay.
She subconsciously started rocking her hips and he slowly started to put his hand under her skirt reaching her cotton panties. Pushing her panties to the side and entering two fingers in her slit while she parted her legs, turning to look at Tomas who was oblivious to what was going on. The ninja used his cryomancer abilities to form solid ice on his fingertips. She whimpered softly at that, quickly covering her mouth to prevent Tomas from looking over. Bi-han started moving his fingers in and out of her wet pussy. She wanted to moan and tell him to fuck her right now,who cares if Tomas was there. She was a blushing and sweating mess Bi-han wanted to make fun of her for her reaction but did not want to draw attention to it.
Thank the elder gods for the volume of the TV or else Tomas would be hearing the sound of his friend's pussy as she was getting fingerbanged by his older brother. The finger fucking went from slow and gentle to rough and fast tears started to form from the inner corners of her eyes,Bi-han noticed this and wiped them away and started going slower and she tried to keep in her moans with her hand. She was about to cum and accidentally removed her hand from her mouth,"AAAERR THAT WAS A GOOD FIGHT SCENE" she tried to play her orgasm off as a reaction to the film. Bi-han smirked and Tomas only said "I know right!" not judging her reaction. Bi-han grabbed the popcorn bowl from Tomas and giving it to the girl he just dispoiled. His fingers were still covered in her juices she opened her mouth to put the popcorn in her mouth but instead was greeted with bi-hans jizzed covered fingers shoved in her mouth she need not be told what to do and started sucking her mess from his rough fingers.
She had completely forgotten the plot of the movie she was watching and only shooting smiles at Bi-han and wondering what other parts of his body are cold. After the movie, Tomas got up and offered Y/N to stay for dinner. "You know it's pretty late I should get going home." She refused awkwardly. "Did you enjoy the movie?" Bi-han asked with an unreadable expression.Tomas was taken aback since when does Bi-han care about the opinion of others especially on irrelevant things like a movie directed by Johnny but the girl about to leave knew he was not referring to the movie,"it was nice...I've never experienced something like that before" she smiled at him. Tomas offered to walk her home but she needed to be alone and given time to think.
'Did that really just happen??The always angry dude just fingered me while he was sitting next to his brother!!???' The whole scene felt like it came out of a bad porno. When she arrived home she went to straight to bed staring at her ceiling contemplating if this was a dream or if it actually happend. 'Of course it happend Y/N' she slightly hit herself on the head. Her mind begun to wander again thinking of Bi-han how he smirked at her after her release how good his fingers felt inside of her. She put her hands inside her underwear and tried to recreate Bi-hans movements her hands weren't as cold as his but you have to work with what you've got.

HI ANOTHER SPARK HAS BEEN SPARKED
this hc post is gonna be me assigning the ninja their CCAs (or after-school activities) !!!!!
huhuhu im quite excited for this one
lloyd
SCOUTS. ITS GREEN, HAS BADGES, AND REQUIRES YOU TO BE AN ALL-ROUNDER. what more do i need to say?
he's probably the type to do all the fun ones (video game badge, music badge and the like) and then he'll do the camping ones with garmadon. LOLOLOL
i would count him as an outdoor person since it allows him to connect with his elemental energy more, so there's that.
but, BUT, i think there may be a possibility he joins the chinese orchestra and plays the guqin or erhu. hehe
nya
robotics!! tbh i can also see her in scouts (or brownies, and NPCC) but she's definitely more tech-oriented and would want to have a place where she can build her inventions more freely.
she also likes playing with lego technic pieces, duh. what's a lego hc post without a lego product placement?
kayaking or canoeing are also good choices. mayyybe swimming?
kai
WUSHU (武术)!!!!! he just want to be super flashy with an equally flashy sword that makes a lot of noise. the sound of warrior shoes hitting the ground and swords clashing are music to his ears.
alternatively, basketball. cocky ass motherfucker has the attitude for it.
cole
okay this is a little weird, but hear me out: bowling.
i feel like everyone who was in a bowling CCA in primary school were generally really chill but strong, and that's what cole is to me. he just has the stature of a bowler who wants to go pro in the future.
bouldering is also a possibility!! that was what he was doing before he joined master wu anyways.
but if he wants to stick to his art roots then probably choir or tap dance. huhu
jay
BADMINTON NO QUESTIONS. he's so badminton coded it HURTS.
weirdly enough? probably fencing and floorball too. i feel like he'd pick up the maximum allowed number of extracurriculars because they're all things he likes.
zane
okay, robotics is the obvious choice, but red cross or st. john's ambulance are perfect for him since he can just. ice injuries. LMFAO
also, marching band. percussion boy YUP
actually i can also see him in a string ensemble. hmm
OKAY THATS ALL THANKS GUYS

Nya but i drew her as a Chinese warrior because I love her water powers, but I really wanted her to be different from ninja and fight in her own way.
Also since she doesn't really have a golden weapon, or weapon specifically designed for her, i gave her this spear made out of lapis lazuli (but like,,,✨ magical ✨ lapis lazuli, that makes it easier for her to control water, or like, just buffs her strength idk)
Anyway, Nya is awesome, we all love Nya

Tenten HeadCannons
NejiTen headcannons: Part One
Here are my individual character headcannons that I mostly use for my fanfictions. I am going to start with Tenten since it took me a long ass time to come up with a back story for her that made sense (years, like years.)
Let's start with the family name:
Tenten's family name is Hua. Kishimoto had originally wanted Team Gai/Guy to be foreigners and even designed them with Chinese influence. I wanted Tenten's name to have some significance to her character traits as well as her abilities. At first, I thought about Chun-Li (yes, from Street Fighter) However, even with their closeness in design, the only connection I could make was their taijutsu abilities (which even then, Tenten really only showcases her summoning and weapons handling anyway). Then, I thought about the Ballad's of Mulan, the great Chinese woman warrior. She fits with Tenten's ideals and-yous are gonna hate me for this one- in the butchered Disney version, Mulan's traits parallel to Tenten's closely (in my opinion), I settled for having her line trace back to Mulan. I chose this name for her with the idea that Tenten was related somewhere down the line to the great war hero Mulan. There are two translations of Mulan's last name; Fa (Canto) and Hua (mandarin); I chose the Mandarin translation due to the connection to Neji's last name that starts with an 'H' as well. (Corny, I know. Let me be corny please.) So, when looking at it; Hua Tenten... Hua Tian-Tian. I liked it a lot. Tenten's last name actually comes from her mother's side of the family. I didn't Develop Feiten that much, and if felt weird leaving him without a last name.
Tenten comes from shinobi parents. I have already sketched out my designs for Tenten's parents and older brother hereeee . This would make sense to me because Lady Tsunade is her idol, and in my mind, her mother probably told her stories of Tsunade when she was young to motivate her in the ninja academy. Her father is Feiten Hua who is a jonnin and specializes in taijutsu and fire style ninjutsu, he is also proficient in weapons. Xiao-Lin Hua is also a jonnin. Shinten Hua is Tenten's older brother who is three years older than her. He shows proficiency in fire style ninjutsu as well, and hold similar abilities to Tenten in terms of weapons handling. Shinten (sometimes referred to as just 'Shin' by Tenten and her parents) prefers fight with swords and has impressive taijutsu abilities. However, after the shinobi war, Tenten surpasses her peers and her brother in terms of her taijutsu abilities; she is only comparable to her teammates (as stated by Kishimoto).
Tenten's mother is from Takumi Village in the Land of Rivers. In order to keep Kishimoto's original idea of Team Gai being foreigners, I figured making Tenten's mother from the Land of Rivers made the most sense. Xiao-Lin (or just 'Lin' to other Jonnin such as Maito Gai, Kakashi, Asuma, and Kurenai as well as family members). Xiao-Lin had met Feiten through missions he would be sent on to Takumi Village and soon they would work in collaboration. They fell in love and Xiao-Lin relocated to Konoha with Feiten, where they had Shinten and Tenten.
The Hua family is a family of crafters and blacksmiths. Takumi Village is an artisanal village home to merchants, traders, crafters and artists. The Hua family focuses on weapons development and custom weapons; one of their clients being the Hyuga clan. Feiten has worked closely with Hiashi and Hizashi Hyuga for business, and when Tenten was born, Feiten would bring Tenten and Shinten to the Hyuga compound for business meeting.
Break down for the Hua family. 1. Xiao-Lin Hua is the youngest of three. Her two older sisters are Chao-Xing and Kai-Ming Hua. Chao-Xing (or just 'Chao' to her family) is the current head of the Hua family and the family business. Chao-Xing is not a shinobi and has one son. Chao-Xing is the last of her siblings to produce a child, and is considered to be jealous of Xiao-Lin due to her agency. Kai-Ming (or just 'Kai' to family) is a shinobi and the middle sibling. Kai-Ming specializes in water style ninjutsu and assists her older sister in managing the family business. She also has two children of her own. All three siblings share similar looks and mannerisms that can be seen through Tenten. 2. Tenten and Shinten are the oldest of the cousins/grandchildren. Even though Xiao-Lin is did not inherit the family business, she was the first to produce children for her parents. This caused great joy for the family, thus leaving Tenten and/or Shin the option to take over the family business once Chao-Xing steps down. The birth order goes; Shinten and Tenten three years later from Xiao-Lin | Nayao (female) and Isamu (male) from Kai-Ming | and Haitao (male) from Chao-Xing. If we were to timeline this; in my fanficiton Frequency ( ffdotnet | A03 ), Tenten is about 20-21yrs old post war, which makes Shinten (even though he is not written in this fic lol) would be 24-25yrs old, Nayao is 17yrs old and Isamu is 16 yrs old, Haitao is 15yrs old. 3. Tenten is technically and heiress due to the birth order of her brother, herself, and her cousins. This means she is entitled to the honorific '-sama' or simply 'Lady Hua'. When Feiten and Xiao-Lin relocated to Konoha (here Feiten is from) they did not use their titles, at the time unsure if they would even inherit the family business due to Xiao-Lin being the youngest of the siblings. Even when Shinten and Tenten were born first, they kept that information to themselves, wanted their kids to grow up 'normally' without the weight of the family dragging them down. Eventually, around the age four, Tenten would be exposed to the family business transactions with her bother and father would be addressed as 'Lady' by Hiashi Hyuga. By request of Feiten, though, Hiashi would drop the title for privacy reasons. Tenten did not mention this to her teammates; in fact, only Maito Gai knew of Tenten's title and still respected her family's choice in dropping it. In Frequency, Tenten doesn't explain herself until an issue arises regarding her family's business. 4. Feiten Hua can come off as intimidating, however is a whole girl dad. There are only two people in the whole wide world that this man will move heaven and earth for and that is his wife Xiao-Lin and Tenten. Tenten is his pride and joy, her headstrong attitude keeps him on his toes and he will usually always cave to her needs without hesitation. When Feiten met her teammates, he was rather blunt and even questioned Gai's ability to handle the kids after watching them interact. Much to his delighted surprise, he was not expecting Tenten to be on the same team as Neji Hyuga. Delight, in terms of he knew the Hyuga clan keeps track of all their members, which means his daughter would be looked after as well to some extent. 5. Tenten get's her attitude from her mother. Seeing how Tenten shows traits of being hot headed and headstrong, Xiao-Lin is usually sweet and gives off very caring vibes, but don't piss her off because she will not hesitate to snap and yes; she will say it with her whole chest. That bad bitch persona is what we love about Tenten, so she has to get it from somewhere.
Here the original sketch I did of the Konoha Hua family;
I changed Xiao-Lin’s appearance so it was evident she was related to Tenten in someway...the buns; she needed buns. I switched her hair with Auntie Kai's.

Archetropy
In some way, I see archetropy as embodying one's own symbolism. Or is it perhaps becoming a symbol yourself? To take on a role, to be in the framework, to embody or identify in some way with an archetype, or trope. Compared to being something monstrous, mythical, or celestial, to have an archetrope feels like wholly embracing, living, and being something, plus a bit more. It gets a bit fuzzy and there has been discussion of how having archetropal identity can share similarities to having a conceptual identity. Yet, the distinction is there, for one is a solid identity, being it, or existing alongside it (conceptual alterhumanity), and the other is something more like a symbolic or metaphorical relationship (archetropal alterhumanity).
If I were to say I have a solid relationship with orange or dream, I'd call those conceptual alterhumanities. For me, Mew, ninja, and Bond Weaver are the roles, archetype that I have, taken on, or are already. They are not solid identities, but almost like a lifestyle, something that has a shape, a hole which I myself fill in.
In the case of Mew, it's the mythical, whimsical, cryptid nature of Mew. But it's also a sort of special side character in a game that isn't all-powerful like the big L Legendary pokemon, yet it fills its own niche. The little mischievousness is also tied in, and a flavor of chaos. I am not a Mew, or identify with Mew, but because of all these attributes that I have, my impression of what Mew is, the role Mew filled, which I myself have, Mew is a paratype-archetrope (or, paratrope) to me.
I feel like ninja is self-explanatory. This is definitely one of those chicken-or-egg situations. Is it because of my Naruto hearttype being a potential past life that I have this something with the archetype of being a ninja? Or is it something more generic, a past life outside of Naruto, which I'd suspect to be some sort of Japanese warrior, potentially a shinobi. And it's not just ninja, I have a penchant for stealth genre games, sometimes you are some sort of assassin, and sometimes you are some thief. I guess ninja wrap those two and more up neatly into a single package.
What is Bond Weaver?
It is something I already embody and live by. I have a self-made title, 縁結ぶ星の夢化竜, bond-weaving starry Dream Dragon. The bond in question, currently English translation is much lacking and doesn't translate well at all, possibly due to not having such a cultural concept. I'm talking about yuan fen, Wikipedia translates it as "fateful coincidence", a concept in Chinese (and other Asian cultures that has Chinese roots, potentially Buddhist roots) that talks of one's potential connection in life that was due to past lives, like a seed that's planted, a web that had been woven over centuries. I like to talk about it a lot in my earlier alterhuman community life, and I wish to introduce the concept more in a more official setting, it is such a wonderful concept. Some may think of only "fate", "destiny", or even "soulmate", and they are all kinda touching a bit on the concept that is yuan fen. It's like trying to translate certain Chinese words into English, the complexity within a single or two characters is so difficult to express, even with a dozen English words used, it still can't really encompass the whole thing. Yuanfen is like that. I have written a bit on my view of how it is very prominent within alterhumanity, and just in general what it could be. I will transcribe it over to Tumblr and dreamwidth at a later date, or write up a new one. What I do on the regular is that I connect others. If someone expresses a need for specific sub-communities, and I happen to know or are in them, I try to get them an invite into those spaces. Or if some folks share similarities, if not identical experiences, I try to connect them to each other. Sometimes it is me learning niche words and tossing them at people should they need it, but that's something the community already does. Sometimes it's simply me sitting down with someone and helping them figure out their alterhumanity, whether that's their appearance or any possible way they connect to something. These all seem like something any community member does, but I'd like to think that I especially embody the role of being someone who Connects others. In a punny sort of way, perhaps that's why I enjoy and like Othercon and Otherconnect so much. Maybe I can jokingly call it an Otherconnect archetrope.
Although, if English weren't the community's primary language, or if it were to be more accessible, I'd probably call myself a Yuan Connector archetroper. Or just have my title directly used, ("Fate") Bond-Weaver archetroper.

For wip game: Within Reach!
( I adore this one so much. Hua Cheng's worshippers have always been so interesting to me, and I love the idea of them having very different stories about who he is (ghost; a fox; man; woman; some other animal). And an eye symbol for 'helping' him find his beloved is so touching! Xie Lian picking up on little hints and slowly learning more of his new (not as new as you think my prince) dearest friend and being so tender with his San Lang 🙏 Also it also having Hua Cheng sickfic-hurt/comfort bits! Whump is my jam, and it's not so often I see a good one for Hua Cheng.)
Within Reach! I'm so happy you like it. It was one of my very first ideas for a TGCF fanfic. Alongside The Newcomer and Heavenly Damnation —which was the one I ended up submitting— it was one of the pitches I prepared for the TGCF minibang 2022. At the time, I was translating manhua for Bilibili Comics, from which I learned a lot about Chinese mythology and wuxia/xianxia tropes. This led me to understand just how big MXTX had made the sandbox for TGCF canonverse fancreations, particularly with how loose she made the magic system, and how she built Hua Cheng's backstory up through rumours and half-truths. I thought I could explore this by writing about Hua Cheng's side of the 800 years of separation, but I didn't want Xie Lian to miss out! I then needed a lapse that MXTX had left open to interpretation, and during which Hua Cheng's ability to conceal his story or interfere was limited.
Now, if I wasn't a rabid fan of The Legend of Zelda, I don't think I would've chosen the time when Hua Cheng was sealed in a child form to tell this story, even if it's possibly the best moment for doing so. I don't like children in fiction. I've got nothing about real life children, on the contrary, but the use and connotation of childhood in fictional narratives is more times than not shameless propaganda for reproductive futurism, and I hate it. However, the biggest sidequest of The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask features Kafei, a man who has been de-aged by a curse, and his fiancée Anju, who he's to marry on the same day the moon is going to fall and end the world. Kafei hides from Anju and the rest of the town in shame by wearing a fox mask (known in the game as Keaton mask, being Keaton a golden fox spirit). One good day, I looked at Kafei, thought of Hua Cheng, and had an epiphany, hahaha. If I'm very idle in the future, I'll write a TGCF x Majora's Mask crossover with Xie Lian as Anju, Hua Cheng as Kafei and Link as, well, Link. It'd be the ultimate "target audience = me", reason why I'm not in a rush to write it (I can simply daydream) but this explains the design of Hua Cheng's mask in the cover art I made for the fic. It's just Keaton's mask with Hua Cheng's trademarks, lol. Also, the eye windows/carvings might be Zelda's influence, too. There's a lot of eyes in the series, as they're the weak point of most bosses, and the emblem of the sheikah, a tribe of ninja warriors at the service of the Hyrulean crown.
In general, coming up with ways for Hua Cheng's worshippers to show their devotion and support has been a lot of fun. Hua Cheng will never appreciate the love they have for him or how they want to help him (he only cares about Xie Lian), but Xie Lian will see it and be very proud of him, I think. He's also delighted to be able to take care of his dearest friend during this trying times, and he'll baby him to oblivion, as he should —you're so real for the Hua Cheng whump appreciation, I salute you.
They'll be a bit further from human settlements in the next chapter, so we'll mostly encounter creatures, rogue travellers, and cultivators with their own bewildering theories about Crimson Rain Seeking A Flower. I hope you enjoy it when I finally post it, and thank you for the ask!

I love jazz. You don't love jazz like I do. You could like and love jazz MORE than me. But you don't love it the way I love it. My love for jazz is raw. Yearning. I love jazz the way you really want a piece of cheese cake at the Chinese buffet. I love jazz the way you really wanna pet that stray cat on the sidewalk. I love jazz the way you watch American Ninja Warrior and think "I could do that."

If the Lego Monkie Kid gang with Nezha and Ao Bing from Nezha (2019) were celebrities, what kind of celebrities would they be? Authors, cartoonists, comedians, actors, singers, DJ, directors, Youtubers, streamers, magician, models, dancer, talk show host, American Ninja Warrior, acrobat, fire eater and performer? Maybe athletes?
Sorry if this was late! Got ill mid November and am going through my inbox! ^_^
MK I feel would be someone who does goofy things for the odd youtube video. Maybe the rare cooking video where he tries recreating a recipe from a game/show he likes. Does the art for Tang's graphic novel. He's recently gotten attention for a web cartoon pilot he created single-handedly - an actual studio wants to pick it up!! He's so excited!
Mei is already an established celebrity in universe as a vlogger and racer. She does a lot of stunt videos and live chats. Loves doing crossovers with other celebs, even through 6-second tiktoks.
Red Son is more like a person who builds insane stunt cars and robotics. Just someone you know is a genius at these things. He has very blunt and informative mechanic and car-maintenace videos available online. Has built something odd like a Robot who Screams unironically and has a ten hour video of the process.
Pigsy definetly is like the chinese Gordon Ramsay of the demon cooking world. Loud, easy to anger, but calm and understanding with children and people who honestly dont know better. Gladly goes on a media blackout whenever he feels like it.
Tang wrote a really popular book/graphic novel inspired by the "Journey to the West" and is just loving the attention. He shares a lot of concept art online and sneaks his ideas into fanfic sites under a pseudonym. He always grins whenever someone argues that "Tang would never have done X to that character!!!" while writing as GoldenCicadaYumYum. Also does a foodie travel blog on the side under the same pseudonym.
Sandy is like Jeremy Wade from "River Monsters" mixed with Jackson Galaxy. He accidentally gets attention because he recorded some really good fishing and cat behavior videos, and he gets contacted for a travel channel-type show where he investigates the role of cats and their impact in different parts of the world. He loves his work, though his producers keep telling him to stop adopting every stray he finds in his travels.
Nezha in both the LMK & Nezha (2019) verse would start out as infamous "pranksters" celebrity before trying to shrug off fame entirely. Becoming a mechanic or a taxi driver. Keeps getting recognised and hates it.
Ao Bing I feel does something phyically beautiful but demanding. He's a famous ice/figure skating prodigy, having successfully won a bronze medal for China at the Olympics at his first ever competition. Is currently struggling how to juggle all this new attention now that he's training for the skating Grand Prix.
thats the most I can think about right now

Blog Post #4 - Due (2/27)
How do contemporary cyberspace studies ignore the issues regarding race?
In many contemporary cyberspace studies, researchers see the internet as a neutral tool that has transcended cultural and racial boundaries over time. However, this neutral regard for technology fails to acknowledge the inequities that exist in cyberspace, which are responsible for affecting those that are marginalized by institutional racism, power dynamics, and history.
What are some of the ways that invisible cyberspace identities can promote harmful stereotypes of race?
There are multitudes of ways in which individuals can engage in racism behind a screen. Racist practices such as blackface and yellow-face are utilized to assume the identity of a person of color and promote negative feelings to others under a disguise. “Ow’s essay describes the racial politics and modes of representation that are enacted in the everyday practice of contemporary video games in particular Ow analyzes the game Shadow Warrior and argues that the game forces the player to occupy a racist violent and colonist subject position” (Kolko et. al., 2013, p. 10). Many races are also subject to exoticization, fantasization, and misrepresentation. Some issues also include trolling and harassment in the form of doxing, bullying, and the use of slurs, stereotypes, and negative conversations that take place through screens.
How do cases such as the Yellow-faced cyborg relate to technological issues that perpetuate a malleable Asian identity?
The case of the yellow faced cyborg ties to the practice of “yellowface” which includes adopting or pushing exaggerated portrayals of stereotypes of East Asian individuals. In many cyberspaces (online spaces) racial identities are easily shaped or distorted (i.e. blackface). In many spaces, Asian identities are often appropriated or altered, similarly to Jeffrey A. Ow’s example of Lo Wang, a character who is not necessarily Chinese nor Japanese, but is a ninja that eats fortune cookies to regain health. Not only are these characterizations of Asian characters false/culturally incorrect, but they are normalized and often utilized for profit and gain. In the media, Asian women are seen as submissive and subservient, and are often hypersexualized. We see instances of hypersexualization of Asian women in cyberspaces of K-pop, gaming, music, anime, and more.
What are some ways that people can stay safe when using cyberspaces?
Although there is a slim chance we can guarantee our security and the security of others, we can safeguard our identities and technology through the use of strong passwords, using two-factor authentication, acknowledging and searching for scams, updating software apps, using vpns or antivirus programs (such as an ad blocker), and be very careful of the information we share online. During class on Wednesday (2/26), we discussed these techniques to safeguard ourselves and our loved ones, and we discussed the importance of being safe with technology.
