Happy heavenly birthday to women's suffrage activist Mabel Ping-Hua Lee. 🕊️🤍
Lee was born in Guangzhou, China in 1897, and received a visa to study in the U.S. in 1905. Seven years later, at just 16 years old, she led a parade of 10,000 people through New York protesting for women’s suffrage.
Women were granted the right to vote in New York in 1917 and across the country in 1920. However, Chinese women including Lee were not afforded voting rights until 1943 because of the Chinese Exclusion Act — which prevented Chinese immigrants from becoming U.S. citizens.
While Lee continued to advocate for women’s suffrage, it remains unclear if she ever became a U.S. citizen or was able to cast a ballot. Her work, however, was instrumental in advancing women’s rights throughout the U.S. 🙏🏾

Senate vote on the Geary Act, which made the Chinese Exclusion Acts even harsher
via IllustriousDudeIDK/reddit
House vote
Senate vote
The original Chinese Exclusion Act expired in 1882 1892 and was essentially replaced with the Geary Act. The Geary Act wasn't repealed until 1943 with the Magnuson Act.

feeling a lil uncharitable in this house tonight so simply going "a person who writes a silly story about their blorbo celebrating a holiday is not actively trying to perform a microaggression," to myself through gritted teeth. "someone trying to justify why they would write a silly story about blorbo is also not trying to be a fucking racist" I say to myself again.
But also what is with people trying to justify their Christmas AUs for Chinese characters. Do people think we have no real holidays of our own? Why do they think that. Can someone explain to me why, I'm waiting.

Bureau Circular Number 10: Duty of Employees of the Immigration Service to Enforce Both the Immigration and the Chinese Exclusion Laws
Record Group 85: Records of the Immigration and Naturalization Service Series: Chinese General Correspondence
DUTY OF EMPLOYEES OF THE IMMIGRATION SERVICE TO ENFORCE BOTH THE IMMIGRATION AND THE CHINESE EXCLUSION LAWS Department of Commerce and Labor BUREAU OF IMMIGRATION Washington BUREAU CIRCULAR NO. 10 January 3, 1905 [italics] To Commissioners of Immigration, Immigrant and Chinese Inspectors in Charge, an other Employees of the Immigration Service: [/italics] My attention has recently been directed to the fact that there is a tendency on the part of employees of the Immigration Service to entertain the erroneous idea that, being appointed and sworn to enforce the immigration laws or the Chinese exclusion laws, as the case may be, their paramount, or even exclusive, duty consists in striving to enforce that particular case of laws which is indicated in the body of their respective appointments, entirely neglecting, or only partially endeavoring, to aid in the administration of the other set of laws. This circular is issued with a view to impressing upon all the employees of the Immigration Service the fact that they are obligated to an equal extent to enforce the immigration and the Chinese exclusion laws. While, as a matter of convenience of administration, and because separate appropriations are used for the payment of salaries and expenses, a distinction has been observed between the officers appointed to the two branches of the Service, all employees, whether paid from the immigrant fund or the appropriation for the enforcement of the Chinese exclusion laws, are engaged and desig- nated to assist in performing [italics] the duties in general [/italics] which devolve upon this Bureau. It is desired that complete harmony shall exist at all times between these two classes of employees, for any lack of mutual understanding and cooperation can but tend to detract from the results of their endeavors; and that such officers shall uniformly strive to assist each other in every possible manner, with the single purpose of insuring an intelligent, efficient, and impartial enforcement of [italics] all the laws [/italics] with the administration of which the Bureau of Immigration is charged. F. P. SARGENT, [italics] Commissioner-General [/italics] Approved: V. H. METCALF [italics] Secretary. [/italics] 11--1621

THANK YOU!! I realised that aphter a while I was having more phun doing my own thing with my own rules and world building - so I yoinked those phellas away and put them in my new place!
(Course, I still LOOOOVE toontown- but nothing theres nothing I love better than going wild with ideas and whatnot X3)

EXCLUSIVE FAIRYTALE 独家童话 · 2023, dir. Gong Yu Shi.
— Poor godmother. How could she have such an immature son? I'm the pitiful one. Two years ago, you said you would plant a pot of roses for her. You made such a great deal out of it, like you wanted the whole world to know. But before her birthday, the roses withered. In the end, I searched all over for a pot of roses to help you.
