Coordinated Chemistry (Watts Fashion 2)

Part I

There's a TV trope called coordinated clothing. It happens in real life, where you'll see a couple who swears they unintentionally match their partner. It's also called the sharing clothes trope.

it seems that Chris Storer is continuing this nod to Hughes and other Chicago-based films. As discussed here, there are several references to John Hughes in The Bear, particularly because many of the settings are in Chicago, reminiscent of Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Molly Ringwald, who was often featured in Hughes' films, serves as another connection. I believe the another inspiration comes from the choice of coordinated clothing for the characters in both The Bear and the film.

In Pretty In Pink Duckie and Andie were supposed to end up together in the original script. Can you tell by the matching outfits and the ending of their names? duck(ie) and and(ie).

Fun fact: The original ending didn't happen because Molly believed that Andie would end up with Blaine. Instead, they chose an alternate ending. But due to the timing of the movie and Duckie's more 'effeminate' style, they opted for a more conventional romantic pairing.

Recap to Some kind of Wonderful even down to the accessories. Like Watts gloves, and the headband matches Keith's shirt.

The white tees reminds me of Sydcarmy.

For Sydney and Carmy, the matching starts right at 2x02, in case you need a recap:

Then, for most of season 2, they are out of sync until season 2, episode 9, when Sydney and Carmy vow to stand together and are back to coordinated clothing.

In Season 3, the matching outfits are strong, with Marcus being the only one in a white collared shirt, which is usually Syd's style from Season 1.

Despite their rough patch, the gray shirt worn by Carmy matches Sydney's outfit perfectly.

Intentional? Not sure but it's fun to find these little film gems and show 'legacies'.
