so if by chance i am a furry in this life and my sona is a cheetah, something which was picked out long before i had any memories or even had an inkling of who i was, simply because i "felt a call to them", would you say that i'm still effected by the cheetah virus?

You called me Theta! ^_^ I have only met a handful of people who call me that (or even seem to know that as a name of mine). I'm curious if you are also Doctor Who kin~

So- I only vaguely remember the cheetah virus (haven't watched much Classic yet, sorry) but I don't think being a Cheetah furry falls under being affected by the cheetah virus?

It’s so funny to me how wildly different so many of the companions impressions of the master are, because you’ve got:

- someone who repeatedly imprisoned and kidnapped you but was oddly polite about it

- someone who possessed and killed your father then destroyed your home planet

- someone who got turned into a cheetah creature

- someone who imprisoned and tortured you and your family for a year

- someone who clearly has a thing going on with the guy you have a thing with and is getting territorial about it

- someone who’s actions directly lead to your death and subsequent conversion into a cyberman

- someone who played dress up with you for a bit before he started trying to kill you

I just think the Doctor should get to mock the Master about this forever, actually. He should be like "Aw, it's good to see you again, honey, gimme that toothy grin of yours!" here and "Wow, you look great, you're basically shining!" there, with a bit of "I like the new look, very polished" until the Master absolutely FUMES and the Doctor can get a "He's going to be chomping on that one for a while" in as the final blow.

I looooove this analysis!!!!!! Though now I also wonder about how the Master in Second Draft verse would take Fourteen breaking the news that he killed all Time Lords but didn't but then the Master did :3

Gotta say, your take of Fourteen mixing a newfound Martyréd God with exclusive rights to regeneration persona with Time Lord Victorious is by far the best thing done with TTC I've seen so far <3

I was wondering if I could pick your brain about your fic Second Draft? In that world I can asume that the Fourteenth Doctor/Bridge Doctor has succeeded in keeping the Master as his companion/lover, and not by force the master stays willingly. And because the Doctor doesn't always get along with most of his previous incarnations I thought what would happen if the Tenth doctor would confront the Fourteenth? Because they are the same but also not. It must be a disappointment for Ten that his Master ran away from him but is now the willing companion of an older version of himself and not just another incarnation but it's his body.

I am not expecting another fic so that's why I was just thinking if Ten and Fourteenth would meet dealing with the Master, the Time War, losing previous companions, his guilt, fear and megalomania what would happen in your universe?

Answer below cut because it got a bit long.

Oh, Ten and Fourteen would HATE each other, in this 'verse. Like, unbearably hate each other, even independently of the Master's involvement.

From Ten's perspective, Fourteen is some imposter version of himself (what if it's not even really him??) essentially come to displace him. Fourteen is actively breaking timelines and spawning paradoxes and re-writing Ten's whole future with every move he makes, and somehow has the attitude that he's ENTITLED to do that?? He's reckless and self-absorbed and callous.

From Fourteen's perspective, Ten represents every failure he made back then. Ten was too weak to save his friends, despite having the opportunities if he'd just been a bit quicker, or stronger, or cleverer. He had people who loved him (Fourteen doesn't, none of them are left) but he didn't appreciate them enough to do what was needed. He's reckless and self-absorbed and naïve.

Add in the Master to that situation - more precisely, the Master's choice of one of them above the other - and I can see that hostility becoming explosive.

The Master willingly being with Fourteen, I think Ten would view as the only confirmation he needs that this future version of himself is morally corrupt and a threat that needs to be stopped (evil by association). That is, of course, FULLY ignoring the hypocritical jealousy he feels that the Master didn't willingly stay with him instead. I don't think Ten would be very conscious of his own internal reactions and motivations. Just angry and hurt, and falling back on the script of moral righteousness.

Fourteen would view the 'competition' as petty and irritating, from the perspective of ancient, removed scorn he learned as Twelve/Thirteen.

I won't lie, I tried my hardest to think of a way this could play out semi-happily 😅 But the only thing that feels in-character is a hostility-fuelled showdown between them. Maybe it could have gone differently if it was just them (in the same way Ten could kind of come to a grudging compromise with Eleven and War Doctor), but I think the addition of personal jealousy and heartbreak represented by the Master is the thing that pushes it too far into animosity.

Once again thinking about how the Master is a cat.

-Brings dead things (Cybermen) as a gift. Seems surprised when this gift isn't appreciated. Who doesn't want a dead bird human as a gift?!

-Affection demonstrated through biting/sneak attacks/general murder attempts.

-Even on the (admittedly pretty rare) occasion they attempt to be genuinely friendly/show affection, they forget how sharp their claws are and end up drawing blood anyway. (Source: my incredibly affectionate cat who loves to knead things to show she's happy and forgets that sharp claws plus bare leg is not a good combination)

-Also literally a cat when they got that cheetah virus that one time so...

From the category of "What if?" other characters who are not infected in canon would be infected and become wild? For example: Khan, Nikolai, Lizzy, Thad and maybe Beau? 2. We know that wild Alice is a deer, then who will Cynthia be? A bat or a deer? And then perhaps this concerns Noah, because in the first post there is a hint of his infection. 3. And lastly: I still can't fully understand what Manor is in Virus AU? There are 2 universes where in one Manor Drones have always been beasts and the second where they became them after the end of the series? And what about the other drones from the Manor? Are they also wild? And what about that Cyntessa from the very first AU art? P.S.: Sorry if this is too much for one question.

That's a lot to think about! And honestly, I haven't put too much thought into it. Lets get some ideas going anyway!

Khan: a beaver. Beavers build dams, Khan builds doors. Same thing, right?

Nikolai: Eurasian Brown Bear. Big, but cuddly and protective of his family (even though I canon him as a bit of a nervous wreck)

Lizzy: probably something sassy, like a cat or maybe an otter just because.

Thad: either a dog or a cheetah

Beau: if he was still in his little bby body, he'd be an armadillo, but if he had an acual body, a coyote.

Alice is a deer, yes, but for Cynthia, she could have both! Bat stuff coming from her solver and the deer stuff from her mom. Now I imagine as her solver becomes more active, she gets antlers like her mom does.

🌱 - Okra to the Rescue and Other News You Can't 'Lettuce' Miss This Week

1. 4 day work week being pushed in Congress

Progressive Democrats, led by Rep. Mark Takano of California, are pushing for a four-day workweek to give Americans more time for leisure outside of work. The proposed Thirty-Two Hour Workweek Act would amend the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 to require overtime pay for any employee working more than 32 hours in a week at a rate of time and a half.

More than 70 British companies have started to test a four-day workweek, and halfway through the six-month trial, most respondents reported there has been no loss in productivity.

2. Governor Walz signs universal school meals bill into Minnesota law

Minnesota just became the fourth state in the US to provide breakfasts and lunches at no charge to students at participating schools! The bill was signed into law by Governor Tim Walz on Friday, and it's set to ease the burden on parents who struggle to provide meals for their children.

The new legislation will cover the cost of meals for all students, regardless of household income. This means that families who don't qualify for free and reduced meals but who struggle to pay for food will also be covered. The bill is also meant to prevent "lunch shaming" practices, where children are denied food or given substitutes that indicate their family is struggling financially.

3. Texas Researchers Use Okra to Remove Microplastics from Wastewater

Researchers from Tarleton State University in Fort Worth, Texas discovered that food-grade plant extracts from okra have the power to remove microplastics from wastewater. Polysaccharide extracts from plants like fenugreek, cactus, aloe vera, tamarind, and okra were found to be effective non-toxic flocculant alternatives to remove microplastics from water.

Polysaccharides from okra and fenugreek were best for removing microplastics from ocean water, while a combination of okra and tamarind worked best for freshwater. Furthermore, plant-based flocculants can be easily implemented in existing water treatment facilities.

4. In the northern California snow, stranded cows are getting emergency hay drops

The recent wave of unprecedented snowfall in California has left cattle stranded and starving. When rancher Robert Puga ran out of hay, neighboring Humboldt County officials put together an emergency rescue operation called "Operation Hay Drop." State, federal, and local officials airdropped stranded cattle bales of hay to feed them.

Humboldt County Sheriff William Honsal went to the Coast Guard with the idea of a helicopter rescue, and by midday Sunday, March 5, Operation Hay Drop was underway. So far, Operation Hay Drop has been a success, said rancher Puga. The mission covers about 2,500 head of cattle over several miles.

5. Make-A-Wish Foundation no longer considers Cystic Fibrosis to be automatically qualifying due to improvements in life outcomes for patients

Given the ongoing life-changing advances in cystic fibrosis, beginning in January 2024, cystic fibrosis will no longer automatically qualify for a wish.

6. 1st woman given stem cell transplant to cure HIV is still virus-free 5 years later

In 2017, a woman known as the "New York patient" underwent a stem cell transplant to treat both her cancer and HIV. Now, about 30 months later, she has been virus-free and off her HIV medication, leading some researchers to suggest that she may have been cured of HIV.

The New York patient, received stem cells taken from umbilical cord blood that also had the HIV-resistance genes. However, it's important to note that there is no official distinction between being cured and being in long-term remission, and the medical team is waiting for longer-term follow-up before making any definitive statements.

7. Cheetahs Back in Wild in India After Seven Decades

Namibian cheetahs have been successfully reintroduced to India after the world's fastest land animal was declared extinct in the South Asian country more than 70 years ago. Two cheetahs, Obaan and Asha, were released into the wild of Kuno National Park after being brought to India last September.

The species is being reintroduced on an experimental basis as part of a major prestige project for Prime Minister Narendra Modi. India aims to bring in about 100 of the big cats over the next decade. The African cheetah is a different subspecies from the extinct Asiatic cheetah, which once roamed the sub-continent in great numbers.

End of Time where everything is the same, but instead of turning all of humanity into the Master as is, the gate homes onto his cheetah virus biodata and part one ends with the Doctor, the Master, Wilf, two cactuses, Donna, and 6 bln of very mean cats that look like they were test subjects in unethical hair bleach testing.

The cats still try to eat Donna.

It still takes everyone a long time to notice a six foot guard stands out from smallish cats.

The Master Cats are still telepathic, so they still trace Gallifrey. Except instead of quickly building a complicated machinery around the white point star, they spend hours chasing dots of light coming from it.

Rassilon is allergic to cats. He dies of anaphylactic shock the moment he arrives on Earth 👍👍👍👍

The Doctor gets the Master to uncatify humans and go travelling with him happily ever after in exchange for a promise of daily tummy rubs.

Some time later, litters of foul tempered light brown cats are born all over the world, and they can regenerate.
