COLD NIGHT — inuyasha characters reaction ft. inuyasha, sesshomaru, koga [headcanon]

context: amidst the camp set up for the night, you spread your blanket on the ground while your partner opts to lie beside you. despite the warmth emanating from the large fire, your body retains a chill, though it doesn't trouble you greatly. however, someone else appears more affected, expressing their discomfort unlike you.

INUYASHA ─ ❝ HALF—DOG ❞

➜ inuyasha would sit up against the rough bark of a nearby tree, his hand resting on the hilt of his sword, ready for any potential intruders. you settle down beside him, seeking warmth and solace in his presence. your hand reaches out to him, seeking comfort and reassurance that he's beside you.

➜ as your hand makes contact with his, his serene expression swiftly transforms into one of alarm, his eyes snapping open wide. he jerks his hand away from yours, swiftly moving it towards the fire to regain warmth.

➜ when your hand accidentally brushes against his face while adjusting a few strands of his hair, his golden eyes widen briefly at the contact before narrowing into a silent, intense glare.

➜ you pull your hand back quickly, shooting him an apologetic smile as he continues to glare, the sensation of your cold hands disrupting his slumber. it was rare for sesshomaru to join you and the group, let alone to sleep as well, but now, you've ruined it with your never-ending coldness.

➜ as the leader of the wolf-demon tribe, koga had numerous responsibilities to ensure the survival of his pack, with one of his main priorities being the protection of you, a human. despite being vastly different from your wolf-demon boyfriend, koga fell in love with you at first sight and would do anything to ensure your safety.

➜ as night fell, you settled around the campfire with the tribe, aiming to get some rest. however, the cool breeze that kept blowing made it difficult, causing your hands to grow numb from the biting cold.

➜ you shivered from the intense cold, despite being wrapped in a blanket. koga could feel your shaking body against his own, which startled him awake. quickly, he turned to face you with a scowl as he realized what was going on.

➜ “why the hell didn’t ya say anything? you’re freezing! here, take my hands.”

➜ you hesitated at first before settling your numbed hands against his warmed, rough ones. his touch sent a comforting warmth through your chilled fingers, and you graced him with a grateful smile for his kindness.

Sub!Sess - Separation Anxiety

Sesshomaru gets lonely when you leave for the modern era, be it for family or other life reasons, he's upset because nothing seems to be a valid enough reason for abandoning him. He whimpers by the bone-eater's well, staring into pit that you ordered him not to follow you into. He becomes restless waiting for you, pacing around the well nonstop, getting increasingly frustrated when the sun sets on another day and you're still not back. He loses his appetite, starts taking his frustration out on the surrounding trees. Mercy on the souls of those who happen to venture into the area during that time, if they're ignorant to the radius of despair and bloodlust. When you finally return, you're pulled from the well as if you weigh nothing, into the arms of a red eyed, fang baring, tear stained inoyokai. You immediately assess the situation based on the state of the environment. "Did you miss me?"

Bonus: Now when you make a trip back for whatever reason, you always make sure Sesshomaru is settled first. This is achieved by overstimming him—a challenge with his demon libido taken into account, but doable. When he’s tired out, he won't pace around restlessly during your absence. For good measure, you also gift him this huge plushy that's covered in your scent and has a recording of your voice inside. He’s convinced it’s some type of sorcery, so you spend some extra time explaining Build-A-Bear. Once he understands the science behind it, he absolutely loves your gift. Don’t think it’ll get you out of cuddles, though.

Sesshomaru x GN! Human Reader HC

Even if you were a yokai instead of a human, he still wouldn't be honest about his feelings.

He has too much pride for that to ever be possible.

He's protective of you, and makes up excuses that it's only because you're a human. It's like he always said, humans are weak and pathetic. They're so weak that without his arms around you now you'll die from the cold.

Denies anyone who tells him otherwise, nothing will make him change his mind. He's a mighty yokai who has travelled far and wide, he knows more than you do, so his opinion is more important than yours.

Sessohomaru's hatred for humans persists, but he makes an exception for you. He has no issue with brutally slaughtering humans right in front of you.

Your fights are all one-sided, with you getting angry over something Sesshomaru did. He won't argue with you, but you can tell he's not taking you seriously.

He knows there's nowhere you can run that he won't find. Anything you say about Sesshomaru while talking to Jaken will immediately be reported to his master.

Sesshomaru is far better at receiving affection than giving it. He won't move if you've fallen asleep on top of him, he might even run a hand through your hair.

Surprisingly, he acknowledges your human holidays and festivals. If you ever decide to go to one, he'll buy you a nice hairpin. When the shopkeeper teasingly asks if it's for a lover, he'll nod in response.

Sesshomaru will keep anything you give him, be it a pretty rock or a handmade scarf. He gets annoyed if you give him something that's hard to keep, like a flower. He wants to preserve anything you give him and keep it hidden away.

Sesshomaru enjoys your scent, and occasionally he'll lower his head and sniff your hair and along your neck. He'll also change into his dog form and curl protectively around you at night.

Sesshomaru makes an effort to never let you meet his brother. He thinks Inuyasha and Kagome would be a bad influence on you.

Just a drabble about a sweet Sesshomaru showing he cares...

The demon you love has been gone for over a week now, and with no end to his absence in sight, you cozy up in the village with Rin...

He's out to find Naraku, who has disappeared once again, much to the demon's dismay. He stops from time to time to let Jaken do whatever, as he is fed up with his toad-like companion's constant complaints. During one of these ritual stops, something shiny catches his eye. Walking further into the village, he is swept with a feeling of loss, as if he is missing something. While he is used to this feeling of being without you, it never gets easier. He smiles, thinking of how you scrunch your face up when you smell something putrid as he walks by the overwhelmingly strong smell of a perfume stand. Finally, making it to the stall that caught his eye, a simple traditional hairpin with jewels embedded in it. He recalls your eyes lingering on one just like this last time you both walked through a market; though you didn't get it, even denying ever wanting it after he offered to purchase it for you, he read you like a book...

The stallman was more than happy to give him the hairpin once he took a look at the demon in front of him; fearing for his life, he didn't even make him pay. After picking up some other goodies with Jaken's input for you and Rin, he returned to drop off the gifts that night. Without waking you, he left the hairpin and the other things by your bedroll with a note. He was exhausted and wanted nothing more than to lay down beside you, but much to his dismay, he had to leave again. though the sight of you safe and sound here made him feel a little better and he felt even better when he came back to you wearing his gift...

Let's just say you wore the hell outta that hairpin. <3

Fight, flight, or freeze?

This was more difficult than I thought it would. Bianca is truly a complex character, so I was a little unsure on how to start this.

Bianca’s reactions to stimuli will change depending on where she is currently at in her life. She had a life full of trauma and very little positive times within it.

Please remember to read ALL trigger warnings. I separated them by section, so it is easier for my readers.

Flight

tw: violence, murder, abuse, manipulation, instability, displacement, identity crisis, protective measures, cultural displacement.

Bianca and her foster father, David Moore, spent much of her childhood fleeing. She had this flight reaction encouraged by David. When Bianca was only ten, a cult devoted to her biological father, a fallen angel named Azrakiel, brutally murdered her surrogate mother, Sarah. No one would tell her that who her father really was, and she grew up not understanding that she had a lineage of both Heaven and Hell. She thought she was only human.

Bianca had to settle in different places throughout her childhood, as her stability would always be disrupted every six months. David told her that this was because the Cult would find them, hurt him, and take her back to her father. He would take her out of school, and they would move cities. Bianca would never know stability until she went to college for Creative Writing.

This all reached a boiling point. Her husband, Sesshōmaru, kept an ear to the demon world and listened for any whispers of Azrakiel and his incessant search for his daughter. When Azrakiel appeared as a powerful politician, Sesshōmaru knew he had to protect Bianca. They traveled to Japan, where he convinced Bianca that he would send her some place safe and out of reach of her father. He soothed her by telling her that his past self would find her and protect her. That place to keep her safe was Feudal Japan.

Freeze

In the feudal ages, Bianca spent most of her time unable to react when she faced life and death situations. As she arrived in the Feudal Ages, Bianca realized she couldn’t run away from her problems anymore. She was in an unfamiliar environment, and she still thought that she was just a human.

Naraku, a demon, launched an attack on her as soon as she emerged into the past. She found she couldn’t move as fear set in. Naraku could sense that there was something off about Bianca, but past-Sesshōmaru recognized her scent from 100 miles away and fought off Naraku, saving Bianca.

It wasn’t long before Azrakiel found Bianca. In a prong attack with his ally, Naraku, Azrakiel separated Bianca and Sesshōmaru by threatening Sesshōmaru’s foster daughter, Rin. Azrakiel plunged his hand through Bianca’s chest to force her celestial and infernal essence to awaken. Her wings burst forth from her back as her skin and flesh coated the feathers. The attack should have mortally wounded her.

Once more, Sesshōmaru and his half-brother’s group fought off both Azrakiel and Naraku. Sesshōmaru displayed a rare act of showing that he cared for and loved Bianca by cupping her cheek with his hand. His sword, Tenseiga, reacted and spirited Bianca away from him. He followed without a word to the Inuyasha, his companions, and Jaken.

Over the next few years, Sesshōmaru taught Bianca everything he knew about magic and sword fighting techniques. She became bolder, but that didn’t stop what was about to come.

In the last confrontation with her father on Earth, Bianca once again froze. This time, Azrakiel plunged the demonic tachi, Noctemaris, through Bianca’s stomach. Sesshōmaru pushed her out of the way as he fought her father. In the end, Sesshōmaru told her to use her father’s sword to escape him. He sacrificed himself for Bianca. As the rift to the ethereal nexus opened and a new world and destiny awaited her, she knew the reason that Sesshōmaru passed on was her inability to face her father. Bianca wouldn’t make that mistake again.

Fight

On Gaia, the trauma of losing Sesshōmaru followed her into a new world and forced her to never freeze or flee again. The rift that she fell into opened to the new Planet, Bianca fell unconscious through the air and into the arms of Sephiroth in the beginning stages of his madness.

He took care of her wounds as he researched his origins. She shared her heartbreaking origins with this man that reminded her of an unhinged Sesshōmaru, so she fell for Sephiroth. She made a promise to herself that she would always come to Sephiroth’s side and protect him. Sephiroth would make a similar promise.

On the seventh day that they knew each other, Sephiroth locked her in a room in the underground study and set fire to the Shinra mansion and Nibelheim to retrieve the alien being called Jenova, who he thought was his mother. Everything told Bianca to flee, but she would not leave Sephiroth to his fate. She followed him, observing his cruelty to his former colleagues, friends, and the Nibelheim civilians before taking his own life with Jenova’s severed head.

Over the next year and a half, she would be subjected to live dissections as her essence was taken from her and tested to see if her unique makeup could stabilize Jenova cells for the subjects of Project G. During this time, Bianca was experiencing carnal dreams about Sephiroth as he encouraged her to come to North Crater and fight for their love, not knowing that he was influencing her from the Lifestream.

To reunite with Sephiroth, she would summon both her mother's and father’s swords and escape the Shinra Mansion and Shinra’s captivity and control. With her fractured mind and rage at what Shinra had done to Sephiroth and herself, Bianca didn’t even use the weapons on the security force and 2nd and 3rd class SOLDIERS. She fought them with her claws.

Lettuce talk... about doggo character designs. Because Sunrise were being Sunrise again. And as Rumiko draws him, Inupapa has Inuyasha's ears!

Which I think is adorable because it means Sess inherited a mix of pointy and floofy ears, which you can also see better in his manga design.

Because Sess's mom is the one with long, silky ears.

NOT the father. But Sunrise, being Sunrise, changed him to be a Sess clone. 😭

Sub!Sess - Your Scent

Sesshomaru tends to get turned on by your scent, especially during mating season. Whenever you're not in the mood to deal with an overly horny dog demon, you switch from your scentless soap to something stronger, and douse yourself with perfume from the modern era. This annoys the hell out of him. Strange scents were invasive, threatening, and yes, you smelled like a field of cherry blossoms, but that could easily be someone else's scent on you. He'll be pouty about it, but then not so subtle when he leads you by one of those rivers with a slow current. “Take off your clothes.”

When you refuse to bathe and scold him for trying to order you around, he might take matters into his own hands and lick the product from your neck. He calms down once he can smell your natural scent coming through again. Calms down enough so that you have to deal with the very thing you were hoping to avoid.

All in all, while the perfume might get you a little time to yourself, just be careful with how often you use a singular scent, because he'll start associating that smell with you and it'll just get weird the next time he ventures into a cherry blossom field.
