Underrated Mission: Impossible moment that keeps me up at night is in Fallout, after Lane reveals he’s staying behind to die in the explosion, deciding he wants to torture and kill both Benji and Ilsa personally even though he’s confident everyone Ethan cares about will die anyway.
#mission impossible fallout#benji dunn#ilsa faust#mission impossible#i love philip seymour hoffman too but sean harris does not get enough love for the particular brand of sadistic nastiness he plays#can’t stand up against ethan physically so he goes after the two members of the team he feels he can dominate#the first time i saw fallout in theaters this scene nearly gave me a heart attack#something something the two people who keep being underestimated and/or targeted because they’re seen as ‘weaker’#something something women + queer men teaming up against the man obsessed with cis male heteronormative performances of strength#every action scene does tremendous character work but this one really gets me because lane really hates these two#and benji’s been worried the whole time he’ll end up as collateral in ilsa’s pursuit of lane#but benji comes for her anyway and she picks benji’s life over killing lane and completing her mission#i am forever cursed to be obsessed with the relationship dynamics between side characters but these movies especially scramble my brain

(via M. Emmet Walsh, Character Actor Who Always Stood Out, Dies at 88 - The New York Times)
A performance by Mr. Walsh in “Straight Time” led to a role in “Blood Simple” (1984), the first feature film by Joel and Ethan Coen.
...The most enduring praise Mr. Walsh received also came from Mr. Ebert: He coined the Stanton-Walsh Rule, which asserted that “no movie featuring either Harry Dean Stanton or M. Emmet Walsh in a supporting role can be altogether bad.”
In “Straight Time,” a 1978 film featuring both Mr. Stanton and Mr. Walsh, Mr. Walsh played a patronizing parole officer to Dustin Hoffman’s teetering ex-con. Mr. Walsh’s performance caught the eye of two brothers who aspired to be auteurs and were writing their first feature-film script.
The unknown Joel and Ethan Coen wrote the pivotal character of a detective in “Blood Simple” for Mr. Walsh. To their surprise, and despite offering little more in compensation than a per diem stipend, he accepted the role.

i've never seen someone who hates MI3 more than MI2 before
(NOTE: LONG POST, HIT J TO SKIP)
MI3, how do I hate thee? lemme count the ways
The Filming Itself
the cinematography is atrocious. as Punct and I discussed in our DVD commentary track for MI3, I truly feel like JJ Abrams is aware that shaky cam exists, but not the reasons someone would use it, so the camera is shaking even in sequences it absolutely should not be. it feels to me that JJA was like "the more important/intense a scene, the more the camera should move" and like. jfc.
this is like really important because it makes it literally difficult to understand the movie as its unfolding. there's multiple moments when you lose pieces of the action due to the cinematography. two moments immediately come to mind: Zhen falling out of the helicopter and having to climb back in, and the way the camera completely ruins Ethan's base jump escape from the Shanghai building.
SPEAKING OF, there are only two good stunts in this film. one is Ethan breaking the car with his body on the bridge. which is bc that's shot as a fairly steady pull-back with Ethan running directly at camera. the other is the batshit spidercam full tilt sprint at the end of the movie where the camera holds shot for probably the longest period in the entire movie. everything else is wrecked by the shitty camerawork.
POINT IS THAT THE SHALLOWEST APPEAL OF MI MOVIES IS THE STUNTS AND MI3 HAS BY FAR THE WORST STUNTS
also why the fuck is the camera shaking during normal stationary shot-reverse-shot dialogue scenes, JJ. jesus fucking christ. can I please see the actors ACTUALLY ACTING please?
The Script
kay lets move on from my fiery hatred of the camerawork and onto my fiery hatred of this movie's script. I am a non-professional writer and i could run a fucking clinic on this goddamn script.
lets get the most egregious thing out of the way immediately: this movie tries to make you give a shit about The Team and one of the team members is literally never named in dialogue for the entire runtime of the movie. if you miss the five frame intro card for Declan at the start of the movie, you will never learn that character's name for the entire movie. that's such a fucking egregious fuck-up I almost think I can just say that and it explains The Problem With MI3
BUT THAT'S BORING SO LETS GO ON
I have seen many many people say that their favorite villain in MI is Owen Davian. that's.... fine. but is that because he's just suuuuuch a compelling character, or because Phillip Seymour Hoffman showed up and decided "I'm going to play this guy like an investment banker who went postal one day" and he's PSH and was one of the most naturally charismatic men to live?
IMO they had to get PSH bc on paper, Davian is just the most non-entity of the MI villains. there is no motivation outside of Being The Bad Guy, there's no backstory, there's a void of a character. even Hendricks from GP has all of those things and he's a villain as plot device.
also why the sweet fuck did he kill his translator. lets set aside the incredible Yikes element of covering an asian woman's face with a white woman's because Yikes but also why the fuck was she being "punished"?
WHICH SEGUES NICELY INTO PLOT CONTRIVANCE BITCHING. this movie is held together with contrivances. the grandest example is the We have to put Ethan in an unsexy bondage mask for this interrogation bc if he could speak in this scene, the movie would fall apart but the entire plot hinges on a moment when the Actual Bad Guy Musgrave literally fucking says
"Did Lindsey figure out I was the bad guy? Did she figure out all these things I did which I will now list for you? Did you the audience she figure that out? No you didn't which is why I am explaining it explicitly to camera." THIS IS. I JUST. FLAMES ON THE SIDES OF MY FACE!!!!!! I find it hilarious how GP presents the exact kind of Excuse Plot but actually does it pitch-perfectly, because it had Chris McQuarrie to actually write it.
The Entire Rabbit's Foot thing. Speaking of McQ, he had a quote that basically cemented my lust for his brain and my desire to absorb his power. fuck it here's the full quote:
"Respectfully, I’m not a mystery box guy. I don’t believe in that kind of storytelling, I feel that that leads to — I understand that it makes for very compelling narrative drive, but it brings you to the end of the movie and it inspires the three great words of cinema, which are: “And? So? OK?” And if you hear any one of those three things, it’s time to go back to the drawing board. I believe that a mystery is only as good as its reveal.”
now this was about Ghost Protocol, not intended as a criticism of MI3 but it sums up the entire problem with the Rabbit's Foot. like, it's a mystery box with nothing in it because... the contents don't matter. in the climax of the movie, you see the Rabbit's Foot and it looooooks like it miiiight be a bioweapon? but it doesn't matter. so the fact that it's VERY LOUDLY a mystery literally has no purpose and never pays off. so to quote McQ again: And? So? Ok?
Oh and that's all just my anger at the Plot Writing of MI3. that doesn't even touch on the character writing.
Character Fuckery
We've already touched on Owen Davian being a void of motivation and on the fact THEY DIDN'T GIVE US THE NAME OF ONE OF THE CORE TEAM MEMBERS lets get into the rest of it
"And did you ever.... sleep with your sister" is the worst line in a Mission Impossible movie and you made Ving fucking Rhames say it. I'm a rehabilitationist but I will make an exception for once if we can send the person who wrote that line to prison forever.
To be honest this entire movie does Luther so fucking dirty it's astonishing. He's here to artificially create conflict. I honestly find it annoying that his Defining Character Trait in MI1 and the thing that drew Ethan to him was his scruples regarding endangering people, and he has like. nothing to say about giving Davian the rabbit's foot. Okay.
THE CRIMINAL WASTE OF SIMON PEGG. Benji gets two scenes in this movie and the second one is.... frankly maybe the singular good bit of fun, engaging character interaction in the whole movie, but to get there you have to weather the Antigod Speech which. I can barely think about with IRL cringing, like my body just has an allergic reaction to the idea. it doesn't help that he's used as the mouthpiece for the Mystery Box of the movie, and we've already established its an empty box that doesn't matter.
(what I find hilarious is that Pegg is an extremely good character writer and I would bet every dollar in my measly bank account that he could have improvised a better version of that speech. god i hate it.)
Ethan and Julia. IMO Cruise and Monaghan carried this movie on their fucking backs and without them putting in the WORK with zero material, this movie would be incomprehensibly worst. Cruise and Monaghan, thank you for your service.
Punct always points out when we watch MI3 that there is a batshit moment in the climax where Julia is strapped to a chair and the camera keeps cutting to her like she's planning something to turn the tables or something but it. never happens? it's egregious and weird how the movie treats her.
actually even as much as I love Monaghan's work here and I'm the kindest to Julia, I feel like the movie doesn't respect her as much as I do. (Punct joked that JJ Abrams doesn't respect women as much as Ethan Hunt does and its hilarious and true.) but the movie keeps being Weird about Julia and putting her in tiddy-licious nighties and gives Ethan a very weird sexy dream sequence about her? and the Mission Impossible that I know and love would have objectified Ethan just as much as her, thank you very much.
Ethan and that goddamn assault rifle.
Actually I want this in its own section
Ethan uses an assault rifle at least twice to my off-the-dome recollection. Luther uses MULTIPLE REMOTE-OPERATED MACHINE GUNS to mow down a factory building. There is a massive shootout on a bridge with a JET FLYING AROUND FIRING MISSILES. Ethan DANGLES A MAN OUT OF A FUCKING PLANE.
In MI1, Ethan Hunt never fires a single shot and only holds a gun on someone once to my memory. Even in MI2, the Stupid One, Ethan is armed but only really gets into one shootout and does a lot of kicking people in slowmotion, which is silly, but My point is that MI3 feels like a Call of Duty campaign with its body count and the way it reframes Ethan's job away from Honeytrap and Spy to Generic Soldier.
and it's fucking boring. all of Ethan's guile moments are clawed out of the morass of him just shooting people, and its devastatingly boring. paired with the REMOTE-OPERATED MACHINE GUNS and the new portrayal of the IMF in MI3, it just feels like.... Ethan is one of the baddies actually? the ppl who show up with three van-mounted machine guns are not the good guys, lmao.
I don't have time to go into the visual design of this movie and how the most interesting locations are so poorly lit you can't fucking see them but we need to talk about the IMF Itself in this movie
I actually have already written my thoughts about the evolution of the IMF through the series and I'm in passionate desperate love with what that evolution signals thematically
B U T the IMF in MI3 is just a fucking crime procedural lab. there is a War Room, there's Meeting Rooms, and when stuff breaks we have The Room Where The Nerds Live. it's just CSI/NCIS/name a stupid show. which fits because IIRC this is JJA's first or one of the first films, and he's a TV man by trade. but by carrying that Weekly Procedural philosophy into MI, it reduces the texture of MI.
the montage of Ethan training Lindsey is the most unintentionally hilarious scene in the movie.
/takes a deep breath
.... is that everything?
NO WAIT I WANT TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE VATICAN INFILTRATION. they put in a lot of work and its easily the most boring infiltration in cinema history. there is no tension, no fun, no improv.
ETHAN HUNT WAS LITERALLY IN A CATHOLIC PRIEST COSTUME COMPLETE WITH THE COLLAR AND THERE IS NOT A SINGLE LINE OF DIALOGUE ABOUT IT. THERE ARE NO JOKES. NOTHING. if this was any of the other MI movies, this would be an opening for some banter and jokes, but THEY FORGOT TO PUT THE ENGAGING TEAM DYNAMICS INTO THE FUCKING MOVIE ARRRRKSJFLSKDJHFKSD
that moment when you can kinda see Maggie Q's vag. wh. what was that.
here's the good parts of MI3
it gave us Julia, and she's still great when she returns in Fallout. even with an actively bad script, she brings gravity and grace to a movie that needs it.
Luther calls Ethan "baby" and it's great and its Luther's only good moment in the fucking movie
Ethan Hunt is at his most autistic in this movie and I love it
Ethan and Benji's second scene actually has patter and character moments and chemistry. that one scene has more character than any other in the entire movie and that's sad but also thank god.
the scene where Ethan is preparing to kill himself and is explaining to Julia how to reload the gun "just like the flashlight in the kitchen" is actually a pristine moment. i wish the camera didn't focus as much on Julia's tits while she's doing CPR but listen. i'll take it.
Ethan blocking communications in the IMF by putting the walkietalkie by the radio is very funny.
Tom Cruise really actually broke the windshield of that car with the impact of his body, goddamn.
jfc I need an Exorcism right now, I might go watch MI1 again just to cleanse
AT LEAST MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 2 KNEW WHAT IT WANTED TO BE AND EXECUTED ON THAT. In this house we may not like MI2 but we respect it.
I will fistfight JJ Abrams on sight.

Rules, Guidelines, etc.:
[Used to be: ronaldrx]
I'm a hobby writer and mostly write (x Reader) FanFictions and Headcanons. But I am also working on my original story whenever I can, so that I’ll hopefully publish it as an actual book someday. My Ao3.
Here’s a link to my Ko-Fi, in case you want to support me financially. It would mean a lot to me! (Obviously no obligation whatsoever! You never have to pay for anything on my blog, it’s merely an option for donations.)

I had to translate Percy's ICON Magazine for academic reasons (no really) so I thought I'd post it for people to read since i have it! Now I had to manually type it into google translate so there's plenty of ways it could be flawed but it's coherent and all and that's what matters lol
So here's the google translation, the typed up Italian will be under the cut for those who ya know, can do something with that.
son of art, surrounded by actors and directors since childhood, the young star of Wednesday admits: "I am predestined". And she reveals to Icon what her secret is for being so natural in her interpretations.
I've always wondered: but if I had the chance to have a chat with Percy Hynes White, the very young Canadian actor whose fame exploded after he played the magnetic and intriguing Xavier in the Netflix series Wednesday, would we become friends? I would like it very much. Look at him, Percy: handsome, very elegant, cold, but with a shadow of perpetual triteness in his eyes. He has the bearing of an irresistible cursed hero. I'm not saying we're made for each other, eh, but in my opinion we can become friends. I'm trying.
Shall we start from the beginning? "I grew up among artists. My father and mother are writers and screenwriters. He (Joel Thoomas Hynes, ed.) wrote a series of books, perhaps you've heard of We'll All Be Burnt In Our Beds Some Night, which he won a lot of awards. But then he was an actor on television, in the cinema… my mother on the other hand (Sherry Whit, ed.), wrote the series Pretty Hard Cases and the film Maudie, with Sally Hawkins and Ethan Hawke . So I'm predestined. Since I was little I was surrounded by actors or directors who asked my parents if they could let me act in their films. Not that I'm complaining, but I had no choice!" Ok, but let's make an effort of imagination: what if I had had that choice? What if I could choose what job to do? "I don't know, really. Everything I can think of has something to do with art. Even if I answered you as a carpenter, there would still be something artistic behind it, a research… Maybe sooner or later I'll start writing too, like my parents."
I avoid confiding in Percy that I would always have liked to be a newsagent, because it occurs to me that in Cast No Shadow, one of his very first films, Percy plays the role of a child with a decidedly difficult life and a violent father, played by his real dad, the aforementioned Joel. Now, I don't know, but it seems like a very difficult thing to me…" It was very easy! It's the opposite of what our relationship has always been. My father is a very sweet person, so what we staged it was really a game: a total fiction, but done with extreme naturalness." Perfect, just what I was about to say… But deep down it's true: Naturalness, instinct, seem to me to be the key to his work.
Every time he appears on screen, Percy seems like the right person at the right time. "My characters always have only a few small degrees of separation from how they are in reality. This created some insecurity in me, because I have never played someone totally different from me. Then a friend of mine explained to me how it works. There are two typologies of actors: those who have to distance themselves as much as possible from their reality and those who are chosen specifically to bring a bit of themselves into the characters they play. What I do is immerse myself in the situation presented to me. From there I behave and I talk like I really would if I were that character or if I really lived in that reality. I think that's why I give the impression of being natural in my acting style: it's because ultimately it's me."
Maybe it's what you could call a method, one of those things that only the greatest have inside. "No, I would never dare. For me the greatest of all is Philip Seymour Hoffman. Whatever part he played, even the smallest, he steals scenes from anyone. Watching his films again is a constant surprise, he really could do anything ".
But what if you could choose a film genre or director to work with instead? "In this period I'm collecting a lot of old VHS tapes. I don't know why: I like the texture they have on my TV and I find the idea of having a film in my hand, a physical, tangible medium, not lost somewhere in the cloud, interesting. I'm watching a lot of old horror from the 70s and 80s and I'd like to do something with Sam Raimi or John Carpenter. Something crazy, free, creative." John Carpenter! You see? I told you we were meant to be friends, Percy!
----------------------------------------------
ITALIAN
A me piacerebbe iantissimo. Io ci provo.
Partiamo dall'inizo?
"No, non mi permetterei mai.

Re-watching and re-evaluating "M:I - Dead Reckoning (Part One)"
A long, long time ago, somewhere in the Internet ether, I had promised to review this movie. well here it is if anyone still cares
Still think the introductory scene in the submarine was a bit long, but it didn't feel as long as it did the first time when I was foaming at the mouth to see Tom and only Tom for the first time in a new movie in the theater
Definitely a lot of exposition in the first Cary Elwes/Kittridge/etc. scene, but the information was necessary for the most part. Just very funky and unnatural how they divided the dialogue amongst everyone and they were finishing each other's sentences, like people Do Not talk like that
Also did anyone else think it was weird how long it was until the intro credits montage too? Idk maybe that's my personal artistic choice talking. Either way it was a super neat montage and I loved it, regardless of when it occurred; I was just afraid the first time I saw it that we weren't going to get one 👀👀👀
The whole end-of-days AI thing is definitely way too relevant and 1) stresses me out v badly, but also 2) Tom Cruise gives me hope that maybe we will eventually defeat it, even if it's not by he himself punching it to death 🤞🏻💖
Best comprehensive soundtrack of the franchise; the only one that has actually stuck out in my mind and I can remember at all and has stirred up genuine emotion in me
The Rome car chase safely occupies the spot as the best one I've ever seen, and you can tell the difference with how they used real sets and props vs. just wall-to-wall greenscreen 😖 I also love how the hijinks with like, the handcuffs and the seat-switching feel like smth out of an older spy comedy movie?? Vintage vibes ✨🤌🏻
If Tom Cruise could just casually stand with me protectively like that for a while and shield me from the w o r l d I think it might fix me 🥺🥲
The way Grace drives is a glimpse into what it feels like for me every time I get on the road
I love the yellow Fiat and I want it gimme gimme
Pom Klementieff's character is definitely too over the top for me. absolutely feral. someone tranquilize her pls. give her a nap. but hey, I'm glad she's having fun 🩷
Rebecca Ferguson was so underused and felt weirdly distant and separated even when she was present in this movie- def my biggest disappointment >:(
When I say I absolutely hated the big retcon about how agents are drafted into the IMF like MY PUPPY-DOG EYED NERD BENJI AND ETHAN "LOVES HIS FRIENDS" HUNT WERE NOT CRIMINALS IT DOESN'T MAKE A LICK OF SENSE FOR THEIR CHARACTERS BOY HAVE YOU LOST YOUR MIND CAUSE I'LL HELP YOU FIND IT 😤😤😤
Didn't think I was going to like Hayley Atwell at all before seeing the movie bc I tend not to like the way female action movie characters are written and I am a simp for Ilsa if you couldn't tell, but I ended up really enjoying her
Gabriel showed a lot of promise as a cool villain in the beginning when he was all mysterious, but ultimately there wasn't anything memorable about him for me. Only one who's earned that reward to date in M:I is Philip Seymour Hoffman, but maybe if/when we learn more about his backstory/motivation; hope is still alive for now
They've got Grace dressed like a fkin pirate there in Venice. And Pom is giving absolute "Black Parade" realness
ILSA MY SWEET LITTLE BABY SHE DIED ALL ALONE AND THEY DON'T EVEN SHOW ANYONE CRYING OVER HER DEATH EVEN THOUGH SHE WAS SUCH A SO-CALLED CLOSE FRIEND AND ALLY AND *DEF MORE* TO ETHAN AND IT'S JUST SO FUCKING WEIRD AND WRONG I ALMOST WISH THEY'D JUST QUIETLY WRITTEN HER OUT AFTER FALLOUT
Like kill her off if Rebecca wants to engage in other projects but give the character a proper send-off if you must. But fr, I agree with everyone's critique that she was such a welcome departure and sign of progress from the completely-interchangeable-female-action-character-who's-only-there-to-provide-new-and-different-eye-candy-every-time, and then right after she's really established and gelled with everyone they kill her off and switch her out in the team with another brunette female IN THE VERY NEXT SCENE BEFORE HER BODY IS EVEN COLD IN THE GRAVE
Yes. I understand that it's an action movie and, within the high-stakes confines of the plot, time for mourning is limited. Yes I understand that the other characters have witnessed many other deaths before. But the fact is that her character was special and different, to the characters and to us, and the filmmakers could have done it better. Ok, main gripe of the movie over 😔
Not sure if it's a plot hole or I just don't understand technology, but couldn't the Entity have messed with the computer in Benji's car when he puts it in self-drive while trying to help Ethan board the train...? 🤨🤨
Yep the Train Scene was just as brilliant and utterly harrowing as I remembered; most stressful viewing experience of me life 🥲😭
And, as much of a stretch as it was, I am a sucker indeed still for the part where Pom saves their lives 🥺 and now I kinda hope she lives and sticks around and has a badass, dare I say heroic moment or two in the future
Overall, despite my number of gripes, it still goes down as my favorite movie in the franchise overall 💖 the perfect proportions of comedy and drama, so many iconic and likable characters, and plenty of the unparalleled action sequences we've come to expect but even better than any we've seen before, and I am chomping at the bit for Part Two to eventually, someday, please please please come out thank you and see you at the movies 👋🏻✨

Please write about Ethan and Vincent!!
To be honest, all the Ethan fics out there are so simple and without much of a plot, you know? I know his character is very action based and not so much a super deep dramatic character with super depth (I mean it definitely has the potential written by the right person) but still, I've never been able to find a fic that's very compelling and interesting. I personally love the 2nd film, his plot with Nadia was interesting, sexy and passionate. Tom was at the height of his beauty and the “aesthetics” of the film were very cool. Additionally, his storyline with his ex-wife, Phillip Hoffman's character, Solomone and Isla really touch base on how MI can be so much more than just action and can be beautifully expanded in the hands of a good writer. (I have a thing for Solomone, please don't judge 🤣🤣).
As for Vincent, he's such a naturally deep and complex character, unfortunately, it's not a very well-known work of Tom but it's so great. You have a lot to work with when it comes to Vincent, definitely one of those characters that makes the mind wander. I love that. You can go through so many paths with him. I'm sure that if you were to write for him, it would be very popular and you would also introduce a lot of people to this particular character. 💕
I just rewatched MI2 yesterday!! It’s so much fun! I’ll try to think of a plot for an MI fic. The characters themselves won’t be too difficult, I don’t think. I love Ethan’s character!! He’s so caring and loyal and mischievous, just the perfect combo for a love interest 😆 And the films have done an excellent job in developing secondary characters as well.
And omg Vincent is just absolute perfection, I freaking LOVE how he was written (and played). There is so much potential for backstory or alt endings/reality, I really wish more people were into Vincent because he deserves all the hype 😍
Thank you for sending this in! It’s definitely persuading me to write about them 🤭

WARNING: extremely long poorly written post ! dbd skin/character concepts ive been thinking about tonight/i just want to see bc some of these are based on these being easy ideas and others being impractical that i just wanna see Nemesis: this is brought on by my 1. dislike of his blighted skin and 2. realization of what a missed opportunity it is to not give him a Mr. X skin, its literally perfect they're both tyrants with almost the exact same build, only issue is X's gloves :/ i don't see a way to make nemmie's visible infection rate work or his tentacle make sense so i admit that's an issue, but... maybe his late game look could work better? sadly that does get rid his iconic look i'd actually want for the skin tho hgvbhjbvhb 2nd concept i have for nemmie is impractical and would possibly better as a skin for a non RE killer but i'd just love to see it and that's a RE1 tyrant skin, i just love the original tyrant design Wesker: imo an impractical skin i just want to see wld be his re5 final boss design, he just looks fucked up and i love it hvbhjhbhjhb Misc: 4: i only have one full idea and that's the plaga knights for knight, it just works really well hbhjhbghjhb 7: i absolutely love the idea of a re7 eveline skin for sadako/onryo but that's licensed on licensed so yknow, not gonna work hgvhjhgvhb, a lucas baker skin for legion would actually be so cool but they already have hunk, his build fits perfect for frank tho WAHHHHh i want that rlly bad now hes so yucky i love him hvhjhgbhb, marguerite baker while itd a be a stretch would be a really fucking cool skin for plague, her lantern would fit perfectly for plague's weapon and she could spit out bugs instead of vomit (i know that like, isnt something that go through the effort to do, i just think it's really cool hgvhjhgbh) and lastly jack baker would work really well for trapper, he honestly just fits perfectly ^^ 8: another licensed on licensed skin that wouldn't work but i love the idea of, donna beneviento/her doll angie for chucky, it'd genuinely work so well, just like in the game shed be in the background while angie takes front stage as chucky doing the killing, donna only actually appearing when picking up a surv just like charles ghost does for chucky, another legion skin idea,, (i love legion jhbhjhb) the dimitrescu daughters i think would really work well as skins for them but im also thinking theyd work for nurse! i feel like consider lady d's popularity shed be a skin people would want but i genuinely just don't see anyone she'd work for? plus her height makes things,, difficult jhbhjhbgh, i do have an idea for moreau! i think blight would work perfectly! lastly mother miranda... she'd have to be a skin for plague i think, but i could see nurse working too, i prefer plague tho hvbhjhbhb Pig: honestly i think she wouldnt be that hard to modify but that's probably just my lack of game design understanding, i think these concepts fall more into a "i just want to see these" mindset but i rlly think they're reasonable, i think a john kramer skin would be rlly good, already got his cloack basically modeled bvbhjhgbvhb, i also think in the same vein a hoffman skin would be rlly cool but i think thatd require a whole remodel Survivor concepts: Saw: i would've liked to see ppl like adam and lawrence or daniel (i love him but he rlly isnt important enough hghh) RE: 1: barry :3 i just love barry <3 4: ashley <3 she deserves to be in the game as a skin at least imo 5: excella gionne, shes an antagonist tho so i dunno, josh stone! i like josh a lot and i'd love if he were there 7/8: ethan winters! i really would love to see ethan in the game, i am a huge mia fan so i gotta say i would be so fucking happy with a re7 mia survivor with like a re8 look skin but i 100% want her base design to be re7, lastly just a skin of chris's re8 look :3

do you have a list of must-watch mission impossibles? the gifs make me want to watch them but not sure where to start. :)
Okay so you only need to watch the McQuarrie Trilogy (soon to be a Quadrilogy in July when Dead Reckoning Part One detonates our dicks clean off). Here is a guide:
Ghost Protocol (MI4): Start here! This is functionally a soft reboot of the series and sets up the formula that will carry the rest of the films. It's dumb and fun and a really easy film to relax with.
Rogue Nation (MI5): awww yeah baby now we are getting somewhere. We have some THEMES, we got GOOD WRITING, we got CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT and crunchy conflicts. This is my favorite MI by far.
Fallout (MI6): oh shit what is this? A solid continuation of the arcs established in Rogue Nation? fuck yeah. this is the best MI movie, it's genuinely tremendous, it's gorgeous, and I have heard from multiple people that the final act is so fucking intense it's difficult to stand. This movie severely fucks.
These and the upcoming Dead Reckoning duology were written by McQuarrie (and all but GP were directed by him) and the maturation of these films under his guidance makes me wanna scream.
As for the others.
Mission Impossible (MI1): the first movie, done by Brian DePalma. Ethan is a baby twink in this one. Hugely influential movie that sets up the trauma of being Ethan Hunt, but isn't necessary. If you get thru the McQuarrie films, you can come back here if you're interested. It's doing some interesting shit but it's a very different vibe.
Mission impossible 2 (MI2): just don't
Mission Impossible 3 (MI3): Okay I am harsh on this one bc I think JJ Abrams is kind of a hack who has to be saved from his own mediocrity by the people around him, BUT this isn't a bad movie at all and is prob worth watching if you can overlook Ethan looking like the generic default character in a FPS game and the sometimes cringey writing. But it's Benji's introduction, the villain is Phillip fucking Seymour Hoffman and he's amazing, this is the movie about Julia and Michelle Monaghan is incredible in this, and the bridge stunt is genuinely awesome. It's like fifty percent good and fifty percent mediocre as fuck. Oh and the running sequence in Shanghai is great. If this movie was just the climax it'd fuck imo.

Mission Impossible Fan Theory- The Farris Twins
Spoilers for MI:3
This is less of a fan theory, and more of a hopeful wish. But here goes.
MI:3 introduces us to Keri Russels' Lyndsey Farris. Farris dies and Ethan goes on to avenge her etc etc. But, did you guys notice two young girls at her funeral? It is a two second shot at tops, but you can definitely see two girls in mourning black at Lyndsey's grave.
It could be a random shot. Or, hear me out. What if it's not?
What if those two were her siblings?
It is a long shot, but it does open the door to some exciting possibilities. Lauren and Laenor Farris, the twin siblings of Lyndsey, who thought she died in a random car accident, find out she was actually an IMF agent. And while Philip Seymour Hoffman's (I can't remember the character name lol) character is dead, his syndicate is not.
Lauren and Laenor Farris becoming IMF agents and taking down the syndicate that killed their sister. Lauren and Laenor blaming Ethan for her death initially, but eventually coming around. Lauren and Laenor accepting that their sister died for the greater good. Understanding that their lives are always haunted by Lyndsey's ghost.
The twins becoming the stuff of IMF legend. All of Lyndsey's grace and even more of her brutality.
The twins becoming living manifestations of their sister's destiny.
Someone get me Christopher McQuarrie on the phone, I have an idea.
(should I write a fic like this? shit I might)
